At the bus stop one time there was a gaggle of preschoolers waiting to catch the bus for a field trip day, and someone walked past with a couple of friendly little dogs, to great general delight.
But after a little bit, the dogs were getting overwhelmed, and the preschoolers were gently coaxed to back off so the person with the dogs could continue on. Specifically, one of the preschool teachers said, "Sometimes, when you're small, being surrounded by big people can be a bit scary and overwhelming. Even if they are friendly."
This was recieved as great wisdom: after all, the preschoolers were also small, and understood how scary and overwhelming big people could be! And the dogs were indeed even smaller than the preschoolers, so it made sense.
What was funny and charming was that, upon absorbing and reflecting on this wisdom, they all felt the need to tell it to one another. In tones of great insight, they turned to one another and said, "Did you know? Sometimes when you are small, being surrounded by big people can be scary and overwhelming! Even if they are friendly!" Back and forth, without any particular concern that they were all saying the same thing. Have reached comprehension of an insight, it must be shared!
I must say that this behavior is less charming in tumblr users than in preschoolers. Not least because tumblr users, having gained a little analytical skill to misuse, insist on Summarizing and Generalizing and Unifying the insights they repeat, quickly turning any interesting new information into formulaic dogmatic mush.
#i made the mistake of looking in the notes of the beach sand post i reblogged to see if anyone else had interesting comments#And the rate at which it went from like#1) person states with moderate confidence an opinion based on their personal observations#2) multiple people reply with “wow thats so insightful!” (aka it aligns with my preconceived notions of how things work)#3) someone else adds additional personal observations which are not really relevant but which can be absorbed into the narrative#4) people start outright stating the underlying belief on which this bias is constructed as if it were a fresh insight#5) general derisive attitude towards people who haven't seen the Obviously Correct solution to this complex real world problem yet#It's very.......#It's not like it's a high stakes post but it's such a microcosm of the whole dogmatic phenomenon#Also this js a more specific gripe to My Field or w/e#But the degree to which people react to the problems caused by the whole “Control of Nature” era of engineering#with this equally reductive “Nature will Fix Everything” type of attitude#Is sooooo frustrating.#Yes a great many of our current problems could have been avoided if we had not made massive changes to ecosystem processes on the assumptio#That they were simple and we understood them. And that they would respond in predictable ways.#the simplicity in retrospect of “wow we Should Not have done that” does not mean that they are simple to undo!#You can't go back in time. You can't turn back the clock on chaotic processes#Which is. Almost every process ever.#Restoration is hard! Returning to previous regimes of sediment or flooding or fire is tricky and full of foibles!#Moving towards a future which doesn't suck as much even if the past cant be recreated is also uncertain and difficult!#It's frustrating to see people act all high and mighty about how they Respect Nature unlike whoever is making all these decisions#When their understanding of the natural processes in question is AS simplistic as the people who caused the whole mess back in 1910 or w/e#Like I'm not saying there's not bad interests standing in the way of functional restoration on all levels#That's very much a fight to be fought.#But looking at that fight-in-process and saying “wow none of you Respect Nature like me uwu let nature fix it”#Is.#Ugh.

i think scourge the hedgehog and fleetway super sonic are in similar situations in the sense that theyre comic exclusive characters who are counterparts of sonic and are probably the most popular original characters to come out of their respective series and they have a lot of fans who are sooo wrong about them to the point where it seems like theyre just making up a guy in their head who has the same design but a completely different personality and theres a very high chance they havent even read the comics at all and are getting all their info from fanart and fanfiction
#they get them wrong in different ways though like with scourge they act like hes not an asshole at all and is just an uwu sadboy#while people tend to make fleetway super sonic antagonistic in the wrong ways that dont really fit his character#and then theres also the issue of at least 60 percent of people who make fleetway super content not even knowing what his name is .. ?????#which is just . yeah massive red flag that they dont actually know anything about him and are getting all their info from fan content lmao

just ordered us two full length, proper binders for the first time. it's the first time we've bought new binders in -checks notes- 3 or so years so. that should be a nice little treat uwu
#we've been using half-binders and chinese made and bought ones#and they've done us good and helped us get a feel for what we're comfortable with#but they are um. eyelet? hook? bra-strap-holder ones and their beginning to suffer for their age so. time for an upgrade#plus. full length. i feel. will handle our stupid massive large chest better than the half length ones we have#we also bought a first time packer >w> to test how we feel about it >w> along with same packer boxers.#so either it Awakens Something In Us or we tested it cheaply and also have some new boxers#either way; a good purchase uwu#personal#edit; also putting the cost under the catagory 'self care' cause damn me if it isnt blake. damn me if it isnt

if not (which i anticipate will be many of y'all) i HIGHLY RECOMMEND, esp if you're into post apocalyptic settings with bright colors, fairytale aesthetics, & the found family trope!!! despite it being post-apocalyptic and having quite a few dark scenes it's a super good show with MANY cute moments !!!!

Do you still like Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss? I do, but mainly because of your Chelsa stuff.
Also, I don’t know all the facts, but I personally believe that Vivziepop is, at least, somewhat innocent. I mean, being draconic and somewhat with the contract is wrong, but… this was the person who almost got cancelled do to CP. WHICH SHE NEVER CREATED. So pardon my skepticism for that.
Also, this just highlights my problem with Cancel Culture: It’s stupid and toxic. I mean, yes, J.K Rowling is a bitch, but at the same time, Scott Cawthon having his donations doxxed, and being harassed because he supported Republicans is stupid (but I will concede the point about Pro-Life). Especially if it’s over an old tweet or viewpoint. It’s in the past. People grow, learn. J.K Rowling not withstanding.

I will say after rumors of what happened to Hazbin Hotel (it not getting more than a season... i really hope that's untrue), and after the recent Helluva Boss episode, my interest has decreased.
So previous stuff has been confirmed untrue, especially the CP stuff. That was taken out of context and that was also over a decade ago. Recent stuff however, I have had some things confirmed. She is biased and prefers to rub elbows with famous broadway actors despite the fact that they're so much more costly than indie voice actors.
On Vivziepop's twitter she said
"I have so much to say but can’t yet, what I can say is I’m thankful to A24 for how Hazbin is being done and I’m so saddened seeing the treatment of animated shows on so many platforms this year. Glad that Helluva will remain in my custody forever, and lucky I can make it indie."
and
"I truly believe independent animation is a way to safely give people what they want and not be decided by a bigger business with different values. It’s not easy to have a thriving indie project but it’s possible! Support indie animation you love and help it gain bigger life!"
With "I'm thankful to A24 for how Hazbin is being done" and "I'm glad Helluva will remain in my custody forever, and that it can stay indie" and "not be decided by a bigger business with different values" ? Those are suspicious things to say. She is talking about HBO Max right now, but A24 is also a big company, despite it typically letting the creators have more control, Hazbin Hotel will most likely be put on the Hulu streaming service itself. So her words are ironic and confusing.
She still seems to support Hazbin Hotel, and claims they needed animators for Hazbin/Helluva as though she's still in charge. So rumors about her not being head honcho of Hazbin Hotel may not be true.
But she is looking to expand her animation & compositing team, which is a yellow flag. That either means the team members are simply overworked and need more help with production, .....orrrrrrrrr people got fed up and left, and now they need to fill in these empty positions ASAP. Again, that's unconfirmed speculation, but... it's happened before with other studios.
We also all seem to forget she's an amateur who is still learning how to write and run a studio. It is highly likely she is in over her head, what with trying to bounce between almost three projects at once (her AMVS, the Zoophobia short, then Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel) It's taken her some time to focus. She is capable of being a poor writer, making mistakes, and sometimes being bad, and people should be able to criticize her for it. But she should also not go through depressive episodes after mass cyberbullying on the internet. Good god people!

P.S. Republicans tend to be pro-life, anti-women, anti-POC and anti-LGBTQ+, depending on how far right they are. Doxxing and life threats I will never condone, but people have a right to be upset when they believe someone is against them for supporting people that don't have their best interest in heart or mind. (Especially if their support money is being used by that person against them. Trump's vice president was an adamant anti-LGBTQ+ activist; amongst a long list of other bad things Trump did as president)
#viv has had a massive mob of haters and i feel sorry for her with that#but at the same time she has a massive mob of white knights that defend her every action and every episode script#and the vast difference in fans drives me nuts#LGBTQ+ shows unfortunately accumulate a highly toxic fanbase because of purity culture#and if someone doesnt like a same sex couple for their dynamic#then theyre automatically called homophobic for it to shut them down against bad mouthing a pairing#tumblr#vivziepop#ask#viv claimed she was happy she could tell a queer story that people want to hear#in regards to stolas' episode#and i was like... there was literally nothing wrong with keeping stolas and blitzo's relationship the way it was#u dont need to justify stolas's actions through making him a closeted gay forced to marry and have kids#but people dont want to hear that cuz stolas was uwu cute baby#man do i feel bad for octavia#shes the symbol of her fathers suffering#finding out he didnt want her is gonna be tough
