Well I got to episode 5 in my IWTV S1 rewatch…

Truthfully I probably won’t say much about this episode since there is so much of it in season 2 that I think will be revisited. On top of that I am at the end of my semester at school so I probably won’t say much because of that too. Also out of all of the episodes of s1 this the episode that I have seen the least.

But we still have 3 more weeks until season 2 where I have no doubt that s1 will be tame when compared to it. I’m getting more and more nervous each week not going to lie.

Ok… here we go!

IWTV S1 E5: A Vile Hunger for Your Hammering Heart

The episode starts with Daniel reading Claudia’s diary and how she records the last words of the people she kills.

But then Daniel is interrupted by Louis feeding on ‘Rashid’. It is pretty nasty for Louis and Armand to do this in front of Daniel. He even reads his mind to try and throw Daniel off his game. I notice that whenever Daniel tries to talk about something negatively about Claudia, Louis will always try to do something to throw Daniel off that even holds through in the ‘Paris sucks’ clip we have in s2.

It’s funny that Armand tells Daniel he would not let him anywhere near his neck. He must still be mad at Daniel for something maybe Devil’s minion related? 👀

Then we go back to 1923 where Louis thinks that she has gone on a hunger strike because of Charlie but Lestat knows that she is just escaping when they have to go feed. Since they are so similar Lestat knows that Claudia would not skip out on meals.

Also the line “I know what I’d do, but you cut my hands off.” Like!!!!! Fucked up Nikki reference. 😭

Also Lestat reading the diary and the dairy being so graphic ugh… 🤢

Everything is just such a mess… oh boy… with all the bodies coming up

And of course Tom Anderson is trying to distract Loustat since the Police chief is there in the speakeasy.

I feel so much anxiety with all the cops in their home! And Claudia is not helping! 😬

There are still some comical bits such as the “We sell… incinerators.” Louis’s little shrug at Lestat. “To various American cities.” The delivery is actually very funny.

Also what’s funny is Claudia’s acting when the cop opens her door. Her face when she drops the blanket and the closet door opens to show the rotting man.

But all the fun and games stop when the cop is homophobic.

Yes Lestat is a jerk and treats Claudia like shit and still sees Antoinette so Claudia only feels like she has to leave.

Also establishing that Claudia is unable to turn people is a great thing to set up now.

And even though it’s heartbreaking I do love that Claudia gets mad at Louis for not just taking her to a hospital but made Lestat turn her into this monster. Bailey’s acting is just so perfect here.

We go back to Dubai and Daniel is telling Louis some harsh truths about what the public could do with Claudia. Yikes

And their home turns into a ruin after they wake up from their long nap

Man…Fuck Bruce

The part where Louis makes Daniel’s Parkinson’s go out of control as always annoyed me even if Daniel was stepping out of bounce it just never sat right to me. And of course Armand is there to ‘calm Louis down’

We go back once again and we see the scene of Louis saying his final goodbye to Grace and his makes Claudia come home after everything.

Lestat is such a bitch when she comes home. I understand what he is trying to do but it’s just all wrong.

And the fight happens. We will revisit what happened during the fight in the coffin room that we don’t get to see. But as an indication by some parts of the trailer we have already seen a glimpse of it. Hopefully the writers handle it well…

Also the during the drop scene it sounds a lot like what Armand said to Lestat before pushing him off a tower in TVL so I guess we’ll see what comes of it.

Okay good got through that one. Now I can get back to some class work lol.

I cannot believe that we are now 3 weeks away from seeing the premier for season 2 and for some of you, you will be seeing it in about a week and a half. Good luck to the NYC people that get to see it early.

ive been thinking about your modern au claudia for days.. do you have any crumbs about Her by any chance

Claudia my baby girl 🩷 I always have thoughts about her!!

Little Claudia is her parents' baby genius, partly because she has two uppity micromanagers for dads. She knows piano and violin, speaks perfect French, reads Latin and Greek, took classical voice training, art lessons, and ballet, and sees a tutor twice a week to make sure she gets straight A's through all her schooling.

She's not as much of theater geek as Lestat, but she takes pretty quickly to ballet. Claudia is a beautiful dancer, but she has her dads' competitive streak (times two) and is constantly on the edge of pushing her competition down the stairs. Though even if she did, Louis and Lestat wouldn't hear a single bad word about their baby anyway.

Despite the fact that she's a mini Lestat, Louis is Favorite Dad (and default parent). He's her book reader, Ken doll operator, snack maker, game player, and everything else. There is no rest for the wicked or for the Louis EXCEPT when it comes to her hair and outfits. Only Lestat is allowed to dress her and touch the curls.

Above all she's daddy's little girl and gets whatever she wants whenever she wants it. Her childhood bedroom is filled with princess dresses, dolls, jewelry, stuffed animals, blankets, and every shiny thing she ever saw. A pink pony that farts rainbows? Sure, why not. They'll do their best.

Starting at puberty, she gets a little boy crazy (emphasis on the crazy). She's the tiktok of the girl who threw dead birds at her crush's window when he was with anyone else. Lestat understands this intimately and helps her social media stalk her men when she's old enough.

She's kind of a bully until Louis makes her Be Nice (her one weakness is her papa's disappointment). She definitely gave some kid an eating disorder first though.

As a teenager she's a pageant girlie (Lestat would’ve had her in there way sooner but Louis put his foot down). This is the best possible outcome for Lestat and even when she's mad at him she has him do her hair just like when she was little. Louis doesn't love the whole thing but deep down he enjoys that everyone knows HIS daughter is the prettiest, smartest, and most talented.

She studies law in college and gets into an top university as Louis' nepo baby (she's a star anyway though). She becomes a very unscrupulous but well paid criminal defense lawyer. Louis is very proud.

The boy she ends up with is a sweet guy, golden retriever bf with his tiny, angry wife who tells the server he asked for no pickles. He gets along well enough with Loustat but tbh Claudia wouldn't give that much of a shit if he didn't. They're not the boss of her. No grandbabies either. Claudia didn't like kids even when she was a kid.

i am almost certain i've heard this song before but i can't quite seem to place it. the beat feels so familiar to me and obviously the sound is quite nostalgic, very 80's top 40's style. a simplistic bare-bones beat that repeats in a way that mirrors the cyclical, frustrated back and forth of the lyrics which follow the subject as they reflect on the constant push and pull of a toxic relationship.

resentment at the inability to move past reoccurring patterns of negativity, feeling like you're the only person giving in and once you've reached the point of finally giving up you get pulled right back into the struggle because, while it's obviously not good for you, it feels too right even in it's discomfort to truly let go.

first and last verses, along with every chorus, ending in the refrain of "that's all". the subject has resigned themself to the expected frustration, to the constant tussling because even if "it would be easier, i know" to leave and be done with it, you know you will be nothing without that fight.

the tumultuous melodrama of the quizás series by @devotiondroid

i could have sworn leslou say these exact things to one another over the course of the two parts of this intricately built, decadent piece of work. I don't want to give away spoilers in case you haven't already read this delicious epic (please go and crack it open now. i beg!) but there are a few mediation scenes that occur between lestat and louis near the start of the second part and this song really just works perfectly in those scenes. good to love and ruthless in love are essential reading as far as i'm concerned, an exercise in skill and stamina on the writers part. a piece where you fall on love over and over again with not only each character (including compelling side characters) and the dynamics explored between them all, but also the idea of love itself, all the ways it can be had, broken, denied, squandered, repaired, cherished.

and i'm not talking just to talk. it's really genuinely that good!

Tagged by @desertfangs and @hekateinhell to talk about fic/art concepts that are on my mind but haven't officially made it to the wip stage yet!

I’ve always wanted to write something where Lestat and Louis just get to wrestle LMAO I think about that Bayou Mud Wresting scene in iwtv a lot like asdfghjsjbng not only is that lowkey super hot, but idk I just think Lestat’s love language is so heavily rooted in physical affection, I’d love to do a study where I get to write about him getting so overwhelmed with affection he just has to tackle Louis to the ground. I want the boys to be boys!!!!!!

I’ve been thinking a lot lately of what a follow up would look like to this drabble I wrote a while back, discussing Louis and Lestat’s sexuality. I do think Louis is genuinely kinda fascinated with Lestat’s bisexuality, so I always wonder how he would react if Lestat ever did get around to staging a “demonstration.” It’s not his particular cup of tea, but I want Louis to get turned on watching Lestat get turned on from eating out Bianca (or someone else, but tbh I think Bianca would be the most fun, and the most game for it).

I wasn’t joking when I said I wanted a low-stakes fluff piece about Armand at the aquarium okay. He needs the enrichment. I want him to look at weird ugly fish and infodump to his boyfriend.

Okay, so. Even though I KNOW trinity gate and auvergne are where most of the vamps spend their time post-canon, when I imagine loustat in my head, even contemporary, 2023 loustat, I can’t see them anywhere else but New Orleans. I want to write about them settling back in NOLA for good one day. I’ve had this one scene tableau stuck in my head for a long time, about Louis living with Lestat in court and just getting so incredibly anxious and depressed and Lestat catches him crying one night and Louis confesses that he just wants to go home. Their Rue Royale apartment has been through so many eras, idk I’m always so interested in people’s relationships to the concept of home, and especially how Louis and Lestat feel about the way they share this space with so much baggage

To end on a lighter note, I also want to write a full-length smut fic around Louis and Lestat having an intellectual debate while also having sex LOL i don’t have the brainpower for it these days (Louis is so much smarter than me lmfao rip) but I mean. Louis and Lestat’s petty quarrels are some of my favorite things to write. they are so ridiculous

🔥🔥 Do you see AMC Loustat "ending up" together or something more open-ended?

like i said before i think the fact that amc vampires can have sex rly change the game...& i dont think they rly had a ‘open ended’ end so much as it was lestat crashing axl’s second get together and lew swooning back into his arms. i do think lestat & armand’s thing for eachother was something largely independent of their feelings for louis . that aside being ‘open ended’ is one thing when u cannot have sex, w the closest feeling of the erotic also being so deeply tied into sustaining ur existence [consumption]. the fact that the ricean vampires cannot have sex is an added tragedy on their ‘loss’ of humanity , a commentary on the fact that they are always desired but never allowed to act upon their desire [especially w claudia, robbed of the chance to even mature]. like book les had to take part in some freakshow science to get a working dick& thats p unique to him only iirc?. but when they can have sex & r raised / believe in their cultures that are largely extremely regressive wrt to sex ed [the bond of sex + a vampire bond ontop of that!], this certainly makes ‘free love’ a bit more difficult to sell.. cuz blood letting/consumption is still eroticized and is largely context-dependent & secondary to the actual act itself in amcverse in a way thats not clearly defined even in s1 imo. blood letting is context dependent as well in the books but its even moreso as a secondary to sexual acts they now can embark on.. like u have the little drink but then u have turning scenes , louis drinking from armand infront of daniel which is voyeuristic afff. its like r we meant to always read bloodletting as an erotic act in every context orrr. i digress. idk im not committed onto ‘open ended’ or not for them. i do lean a bit more toward solo endgame as a result of these factors but as i am w everything in an ongoing series.. willing to be proven wrong

3 ships: I guess they probably shouldn’t all be from the same fandom, huh? Because if so, it would just be my usual cycle of Lawrusso, Dutch/Johnny, and Johnny/Lyle. 😂 Those are the ones that live in my head rent free.

But if I have to pick ships from other fandoms...guess I’ll go with Stranger Things and Steddie, and IWTV and Loustat.

1st ever ship: Look, I’m old. I honestly don’t remember. Xena/Gabrielle was one of the first to come to mind. And again, Louis/Lestat. Everything really does come back around, I guess.

Last song: NFWMB, by Hozier.

Currently reading: Mostly just fic. I have a stack of unread books, but I just can’t summon the energy to start on any of them.

Last movie: Finally got around to watching Glass Onion over the weekend, which I really enjoyed. I need to rewatch it soon. And on New Year’s Eve, I rewatched Chicago. It’d been a few years since my last watch, so that was fun. Screaming along to “Cell Block Tango” is always therapeutic, lmao.

Currently consuming: Coffee. Trying to get my brain to function enough to write, but so far it’s not working.

Currently watching: Nothing really. I’ve got a Spurs-Knicks game on in the background, but I’m not actually paying attention. It’s close, but I know the Spurs will choke by the end of it, anyway. As for series, I haven’t started anything new recently. I keep thinking I’ll watch Wednesday, or maybe go back and finally watch Black Sails, but I haven’t found the motivation yet.

Currently craving: A freeze from Dutch Bros. Yeah, I’ve got coffee, but I want coffee I didn’t have to make myself. 😂

I know you get quite a lot of these but you have any more headcanons about Daniel and Louis' friendship? I just can't get enough of them!

Also what are your opinions about Daniel/Louis as a ship? It's kind of a rarepare but there's something about this ship that I find very appealing, and your headcanons make me ship them even harder.

Aside from Louis or Loustat, Daniel & Louis is probably my absolute favorite VC topic of all. I will always be an unshakable Loustat shipper, so I can't really imagine actively putting Louis with anyone else, BUT if I had to like. Pick another ship, it'd be Daniel/Louis. Honestly, I've always been sort of surprised that there isn't a niche of D/L shippers like there are for Lestat/Armand. It's kind of right there and there's so SO much potential material. If someone wants to write it for me I'll happily read it because I wholeheartedly approve of 'fancy 18th century sad vampire/70s stoner man' in any form it's offered.

On that note, I'm positive if Louis had propositioned Daniel at any point in their interview, that boy would've been tripping over his own feet to get that vampire D. If not for Armand, he probably would still be down, though the infatuation has worn off and he's no longer slightly in love. Louis is aware of how bad Daniel wanted to fuck him initially and is very nice about the situation. He's used to it.

In return, Daniel is very nice about Loustat relationship drama. Interview with the Vampire was far from the end. Now it's Weepy Vent Session with the Vampire and it's like. Every Thursday at best. Sometimes more. ("I just don't know if I can do this. It's all so much." "Okay, fine. Dump him." "What?? No! I couldn't!" "Then why the FUCK are we having this conversation again, Louis?")

Daniel gets Louis into a very strange assortment of music. He takes to the expected, but there are enough wild cards that Daniel keeps experimenting on him by offering various records. Most are rejected, but Motorhead (no other hard rock or metal), The Beach Boys, Alanis Morrisette, and Toto (yacht rock is generally a go it turns out) are kept.

Louis attempts the same with books for Daniel and achieves similar results. Most receive an "eh", but Louis is absolutely delighted when he gets a good response to Camus and the absurdist philosophers. He can't seem to replicate the outcome with other genres, but a stoned Daniel is the platonic ideal of a conversation partner for Louis when he's in a philosophical yet chatty mood. This is great news for Lestat.

Daniel really wants to impress Armand (he's feeling a little insecure about his journalism degree in the face of Armand's classical education) so Louis drops everything for a solid week to hole himself up with Daniel and teach him French and Latin (vampire brain allows for maximum efficiency). Unfortunately for Louis, this means he can no longer talk shit about Daniel in French with Lestat during game nights.

Daniel is the first person Louis ever "comes out" to. Obviously he's into men, as evidenced by the...everything. But the first time he manages to verbalize it is alone with Daniel.

When smartphones hit the market, Louis totally helps Daniel win his word and trivia games with Armand. Daniel feeds Louis pop culture facts to stump Lestat. They are cheaters.

He's also the one who finally makes Louis feel comfortable feeding in front of others. Lestat is very supportive, but Daniel never makes a big deal out of it. He just lets Louis tag along on his own hunts. He can join in if he feels up to it or not. Daniel won't say anything or treat him differently either way. Eventually Louis goes from just coming for the social aspect, to snagging the occasional victim out of sight, to taking part every time.

Daniel, vampire or not, still has trouble with his alcoholism. The cravings stay, as does the ability to give into them by finding drunk victims. He has a hard time talking about it in the beginning, but if Armand isn't around, he goes straight to Louis. Louis is actually great at helping given his immense experience comforting certain individuals who refuse to verbalize their feelings or let go of the carefree persona they hold onto for dear life.

Aside from their respective partners, the only people Daniel or Louis ever blood share with is each other. It's a pretty rare occasion, but sometimes it's the last resort for comfort or affection if things are particularly bad, especially if Lestat or Armand is unavailable to help (or if they are the problem du jour). It's part of the reason they're so tightly bonded as much as it is a result of that bond.

The Vampire Chronicles Facebook Interview **Recap**(5/4/17)

The Television Show

Production

As many know now, they will be working with Paramount Television and Anonymous Content

They want to stay fully engaged with fans in the production process

No set broadcaster, all options open (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) (Chris joked about it being on Facebook)

Next announcement will be when that network is decided

No timeline for production. They have no idea how long it will take. Script-writing is next. Chris is the one who will be script-writing, Anne will review

Chris: “She finished writing season 1 when she wrote the books!”

Pilot is done. Next are more episodes. They are starting the process and having several meetings with Paramount and Anonymous Content

Anne SWEARS the series will be 100% loyal to the books. (They named GoT as an example of doing this though soooooo)

Anne said compromises are inevitable but artistic control comes from good will and respect; you make it work by picking people you admire and trust. They worked with Paramount and Anonymous Content since they all agreed on a common vision and the end result of the series

No idea about locations of sets and whatnot

Don’t know if they will keep with the 80’s period of the books, however Anne wants to do Lestat’s pre-vampire period period-accurate

Neil Jordan may end up helping out on the project

Casting

Still taking suggestions from fans and looking fancasts up on imdb

Anne: “Lestat is always shaking his fists to those who would break him down…Scrappish impish…lovable hero” Chris: “--and he’s hot!! :D He’s gonna be hot. #LestatIsHot”

Chris and Anne might want to cameo in the series (joked about making a game out of it)

Some characters may change where “ethnicity is flexible”

Anne and Chris agree that POC being casted are important and will be considered in casting. The Millennial vamps (older gang) will most likely be largely POC.

Anne says she has taken notice of black fans showing their admiration of Aaliyah playing Akasha.

Anne gave a story about meeting an Akasha cosplayer who mentioned that she and her friends feel left out of high fantasy for being black and how Anne was moved by this.

Anne: “Akasha isn’t written as black or a person of color…she’s middle eastern” Me: ??? (Those aren’t...mutually exclusive???) Anne: “--but she could be a person of color.”

Marius was played by a black man in the musical and Anne thought he did a great job. Marius can be any ethnicity so long as he’s half Roman. She’d prefer to have Marius as blue eyes and blonde haired like Lestat but it’s “not imperative for him”.

Anne: “Louis at least has to be beautiful”

Armand has to look as described as well.

Anne wanted Cher to play Gabrielle.

Anne and Chris to be inclusive, but will always focus more on how fine the actor is. Talent is needed to get the role, not just looks.

Armand will be casted as someone who looks 17, but will be technically older. Not sure about age for Lestat and Louis (Anne is thinking early 30s)

Physical and emotional aging will be put into consideration (she gave Marius as an example as him looking like he’s in his 40s but being mentally older)

Plot and Episodes

They will tell the story chronologically in Lestat’s eyes so wolves-paris-so on. Basically, how knowledge unfolds for Lestat is how it will unfold for audience THIS MAY CHANGE depending on when they talk to producers, however this is not what they want in terms of how the events should happen.

Don’t want to cheat on Lestat’s life and skip out any details of it (go figure)

Stay faithful to the books and to Lestat’s story

Chris warns for us to be mindful of news that doesn’t come from official page

Lestat and Gabbi’s journey to be expanded

Origin stories of Marius and other older vampires will be shown and expanded on (done through the flashback stories Marius gives)

Blood and Gold will be involved but they won’t DO the story (so using that material for possible spin offs)

A lot about the Talamasca and especially David. Jesse too, but mostly David

(Anne: He’s close friends with Lestat in TOTBT Me: Is that what you call it? lmao)

TVL could be 2-3 seasons. IWTV may be one. Depends

Anne and Chris want to know what goes wrong in the translation from book to media in other series so they can avoid it

They’re keeping eroticism the same as in the books.

Lestat turning Gabrielle will be a big scene, as they feel this is when the series starts to truly bring the vampire world into view and Lestat really starts becoming a vampire. Though, I’m partial to their sexy song “5 to 1″). She describes Lestat’s voice as somewhere between a “barratone and tenor...Melodic”. (Something about Jon Bon Jovi also a little bit)

Mayfair Witches

Rights of Mayfair Witches not available to them (?) and thus, the crossover books are not a part of the VC TV series and, thus no show for them right now

Someone in the VC Discord Server brought up the question of if Chris could/would carry out the VC books after Anne. Based off this interview, I think it’s very likely depending on how well the VC TV series goes. He seemed a little apprehensive about it, but he’s worked with his mother on writing and is familiar enough with her characters to care about them. I think it’s possible

10. What do they fight about? What are their arguments like? How do they make up? Their fights are always huge and bitter. They bicker a lot, but do not genuinely fight very often. When they do fight, though, it is intense and viscous. Oftentimes it’s because they’re both just God awful at communication, and will either be passive aggressive towards one another until they explode, or they will fucking scream at each other for hours on end. And the problem is, they know how to cut where it hurts with each other. Like, they know each other’s deepest fears and traumas and are not afraid to fucking re-hash everything every single time things get heated. It’s the worst lmao. 23. How much would they be willing to sacrifice for the other? Any lines they refuse to cross? At this point, I think they literally would sacrifice anything for one another, as cliché as that sounds. But they’ve been through so much, and to some extent are not really afraid of anything anymore, so I think they would sacrifice a lot. As much as they get on each other’s nerves, at the end of the day, I think they need each other, so Louis would gladly sacrifice his peace and tranquility, and Lestat would sacrifice his freedom/wanderlust to settle down. But I think that at this point, they wouldn’t really ask the other to sacrifice anything for them. 24. What are they like in the bedroom? Any kinks/fetishes/turn-ons? Anything they won’t do? LOL I think it gets pretty wild lmao I mean we’ve got a scorpio and a libra so like...Lestat is absolutely insatiable, but at the same time, Louis is always willing to please, and will do pretty much anything Lestat asks of him. So yeah, there isn’t much they won’t do. I mean, if you want specifics, I headcanon Louis as having a praise kink and a hair pulling kink even though he tops. I think Lestat most definitely has a kink for dirty talk which is pretty unfortunate since Louis can be super awkward about it at times (but also really good at it when he wants to be).26. Do they talk often? What about? Oh yes. They talk a lot. It’s probably their favorite activity. They’ll talk in bed, over a game of chess, on walks in the city, over a cup of coffee at their favorite local coffee shop. They never run out of subjects. Sometimes Louis will tell Lestat about the latest book he’s read, other times Lestat will catch him up on coven drama or celebrity gossip. They like to reminisce about the past, to try and predict what the future will be like with crazy mortal technology.
