I unfortunately don’t really have much of a write up about this - I recorded it quickly after work and tore down the patch shortly after, and so have no exact signal flow or pretty gif to show for it (I found some “B roll” though!)
Chord wash from the tELHARMONIC (now through Ikarie & Yester Versio) is getting closer to the sound I’m trying to get out of it. Slowly but surely learning.
The lead is Ts-L’s stepped sine/PWM voice. Glitching is created with Data Bender, but also by sending out of sync stepped modulation to the PWM input causing the wave to jump around some.
I’ve really streamlined my recording setup, so I’m hoping to throw things up with even higher frequency. The way I see it, if I jam, I should have something to show from that session.

A union of the two cases: full rhythm section, 2 voices, fx, and lots of modulation. Sending more focused, repeating modulation to telharmonic to create predictable progressions. This module is a lot harder to “learn”/get a grip of than others I’ve gotten to use so far, but a helpful heuristic I’ve come across is to really tune the left side to stay in key (per the color staff) and use the right side to “musically” change the sound - by playing and with modulation.
More fun: I’ve realized how much it pays off to “play” the probability slider on IDUM to easily create different sections of the song - in turn creating the perfect chance to tweak other settings. This has the same effect as sending it a riser to play a break, but gets a lot more groovy to do by hand. You can hear throughout the recording how I use these moments to adjust centroid to change the chord voicing and Daiko settings to drastically change the hat timbre.
Versio is still set to Ampla right now, adding a bit more dynamics to the chords. But this is definitely due to change for the next patching session I have - the filter doesn’t play nicely with telharmonic, meaning I’m missing out on a lot of the module in this current configuration. Looking forward to fleshing out the sound more, and trying more variations. Now that all the peices have come together, this chippy groove setup is everything I’d dreamed of, really.
I recently did the cover for Bustello’s upcoming album and he’s really excited to share his new album!
“By far the longest I’ve spent on an album but I believe this is the most ambitious album I’ve made and a sign of my growth over the last 2 years.”
If you like electronic, lo-fi, chill, or are looking for something new to listen to, I recommend checking it out. The first single is currently available on Youtube!
