How I imagine Ash’s relationship with his friends to be(Part 2):

Ash and dawn are the ultimate wing(wo)men: They love to hype each other up, but this doesn’t mean that they don’t equally tease and make fun of one another. Dawn loves to try new food with Ash and to her Ash and Brock are basically her big brothers. They’re very touchy-feely with one another but everything is completely platonic/familial. It’s just reassuring for them to know that they have the other with them.

My hc is that Ash has chronic pain which flares up in cold climates. Gary is Ash’s no. 1 support in that regard but sinnoh is cold af. Whenever the pain is too much for him to handle, ash and dawn curl up together with all of their pokemon. Brock is usually too busy to join but whenever he has the time, he automatically joins in.

Dawn mostly keeps her hair down but whenever they have time to spare, Ash loves to test out new hairstyles on it.

Note: Ash showers his friends with gifts because he has a ton of money to spare. If he sees something and thinks that one of them would like it, he could care less about the price.

Ash isn’t super duper close with Iris and Cilan mainly because he had a lot on his plate in Unova. He was too caught up with working on himself to develop very deep bonds with them. That doesn’t mean theyre not close friends however. They talk somewhat regularly and keep up with each other's accomplishments. Ash and Iris bicker a lot but when it's really important, they can comfort each other just as well. Cilan is like their eccentric uncle who they love but do not want to be seen with in public.

Ash and Clemont are best buddies: Clemont is super smart however he does have a couple of self esteem issues. Ash has no qualms in absolutely destroying them all and showering Clemont with praise and affection. Ash was Clemont's bi awakening but there’s nothing romantic between the two. Ash battled quite innovatively in Kalos partly because he loved hearing Clemont be in awe of them. They have deep convos over call but their chat is full of random memes and jokes or just things that reminded them of each other.

Ash and Serena have an older brother-little sister bond dynamic as well: Serena’s crush was not as fullblown as it was in the show. She did have lingering feelings in the beginning but they faded out over time. Ash was a major part of her growth and development as a person. Serena’s character arc in the anime is absolutely amazing. She learns how to be confident and love herself. It wasn’t lightning fast because earlier on she only did it so that Ash would be impressed. But then she begins to understand that she wants to be someone that she can be proud of.

Shauna sends her into a lesbian panic but Ash helps her sort out her feelings. Ash was basically her guide into the real world and helped her become her own person. Similarly, when Ash was in a funk she helped bring him out of it and taught him the lesson that he had taught her.

Ash and Kiawe are rivals that are 100% gay for each other. Ash found it amazing that someone had a passion to rival that which he had for pokemon.

Ash is instrumental in Lillie’s development until she reaches a point where she becomes the main person behind her own growth. Ash was the proudest of them all when she could finally touch pokemon again. He is the biggest shipper of mallow and lillie and tries to make it become a reality.

Ash and Lana are high on life: Ash is sarcastic and cynical with Lana in a way that he stays true to himself but still manages to both have fun and get rid of repressed trauma.

Ash and sophocles are texting buddies: They don’t talk a lot separately and stick to groups, but it would take a day to scroll up through their hours worth of messages. They bounce ideas off on another and talk about everything and nothing at the same time.

Ash really likes Goh but their friendship is still quite new and still developing. Goh doesn’t take criticism well so Ash has to make sure that whatever he means isn’t taken the wrong way. They’re learning and defining boundaries, but Ash doesn’t mind the time it’ll take cuz he’s mainly relaxing and exploring more. Sure the world championship is nice but until the final stretch comes, he still has a lot of free time on his hands.

bugs fable ocs;

chrys - never talked about them before whoops. from our bug fables future headcanons. they're a cuckoo wasp and they're on an explorer team with tod and terrie mop - everyone knows mop. the star of the show

synth - evil roach lady. came from the giant's lair and tried to start snakemouth lab 2: electric boogaloo. she's like if soul master was a girl kind of bernie - most divorced poor little meow meow bee man ever. got kicked out of the hive because cosmic horrors happened to him. vi's dad but that's not really relevant they don't know each other ilon & lilly - butterfly and beetle on an explorer team. kind of side characters in future bug fables iris - cute and trustworthy mantis lady who runs a diner and definitely doesn't cook people checkers - zombee who is two different bees sewn together. former nurse in one life. unwillingly pulled into synth's schemes mint - zombeetle who escaped the lab to try and find his former explorer partner. not going well for him latte - baby zombiant. just a little guy sammy - zombie fly with a different kind of fungus than the cordyceps ones. got sent to bee kingdom zombie jail until the doctor who made it like that let it escape penny - the doctor who did that to sammy. it was an accident she swears marshmallow - peacock spider who started mimicking bugs and living in society just for a laugh

caprice - nosk who disguises herself as a traveling musician. reads minds to find familiar tunes and plays them for her victims. our personal favorite to draw ollie - ant that got splashed with the death pheromone and kicked out of his colony for it. traveled with caprice before getting infected and dying for real

celadon - mantis who left the tribe to pursue a more peaceful lifestyle. is just vibing in greenpath now flower pot - vessel that celadon adopted. likes being painted on capt. geo-eye - earwig pirate captain. quite literally has a piece of geo where his eye should be. currently plundering the abandoned kingdom of hallownest treasure chest - vessel that geo-eye adopted. a little ruffian that attacks ankles

uncrossed finish line - senior of their local group. thought sliver of straw was onto something. worked so hard to replicate her that they overheated and collapsed deep impression of a fang - junior of the same group. looked up to finish line and was devastated when they died. tried to purpose an organism strong enough to kill him after that happened flightless birds - second youngest of the group. bit of a silly goose. spends more time talking in group chats and having fun than doing work. in her lane. unbothered. flourishing monday morning sunrise - second oldest of the group. eepy. spends 100 cycles to do anything empire of ants - firm Middle Child. ascribes to the same thinking of a benefactor monk. never talks to anyone ever three glowing scales - no local group because they're in the middle of the ocean. makes a lot of purposed creatures to send messages across the sea ever-flowing rapids - purposed slugcat made by 3gs. true aquatic scug that can breathe underwater and move at speed. rivulet's ancestor the crusader - purposed slugcat made by dioaf. the thing that was intended to kill him. gets stronger the higher its karma is the trickster - purposed slugcat made by nsh. exists to send memes. can change colors to mimic predators the sleepwalker - normal slugcat that got hit on the head and can't sleep now. always gets shelter failures and special night creatures attack them the symbiosis - used to be our scugsona but now they're just vibing. full of fungus. kills bugs instantly but gets hurt by sunlight two splinters of wood under tropical leaves - benefactor that lived on mms. ran a shelter for purposed organisms that outlived their usefulness. number one enjoyer of weird little critters muddy water running through steel canals - benefactor that lived on looks to the moon. mechanic that dabbles in bioengineering. invented miros birds so you can all get mad at aer for that shrill ringing noise, a broken spear - benefactor that used to live on dioaf. got banished to the surface for assassinating a council member. living the creature life now

1. I watched most of the Predator movies with my friends, and during one- I drew these two. the fisher’s hat one for a joke- the other was a meme image we shared from a con.

2. Emojis I made for an Isle server Discord

3. Tried to play a different game of D&D with a different friend, because I’m terrible at improve and at speaking in general, I asked if I ‘could play a druid stuck in wildshape, and his quest is to find someone to unstuck him’. He was a horse that kicked a chicken as a distraction to some guards so my to-be party member to sneak around and knock him out. His name is Kurr.

4. Played Cenozoic Survival with friends, and made two National Park styled posters. We were kelenkens that killed other kelenkens (the Kele-Killers), and a pack of Direwolves that lived in the swamp.

Everything here is from headword/RP with friends that We’ve been slowly planning out over the course of a year and a bit. Its a mix of final-fantasy-esq magic and dinosaurs.

13. The first redesign of Lupin, my old Keykid OC that was in last year’s art dump as well.

14. The redesign of another keykid, Ember. She has a pet Drornis.

15. The redesign of another keykid, Lilly- she’s now a noble woman.

16. Second (technically third) redesgin of Lupin, made him look fancier and more sharp. the items on his right are his ring and rapier.

17. The redesign of another keykid, this time Iberis. They haven’t changed much, but I did redesign them before this; their look was hard to get down.

18. Lupin using his rapier to cast some lightning magic. drawn alongside the first redesign.

19.The processes on how a dinosaur becomes magical. it eats a magic gem, and if it survives, it inherits magical propeties.

20. Two ornamental birds that serve as ‘communication’ devices, with the chicken being about the size of a novelty landline, and the robin, the size of a brooch.

21. Caustiopteryx. A Caudiopteryx that has acidic elemental powers and isn’t looking so great anymore.

22. Stryaticosaurus. A Stryacosaurus that has lightning elemental powers.

23. Dryovoidus. A Dryosaurus that has void-like powers that can turn into a puff of smoke at will.

24. Pyrosolophosaurus. A Parasaurolophus that has fire elemental powers.

25. Dinosaur mounts. not exactly domesticated, but tame enough to let a rider on their backs and steer them.

26. First draft of my Vanitas fan outfit and several designs of Namine’s before landing on the final one I chose.

-Warrior Cats?-

Friends got me into a Warriorcat clan generator thing witch is kind of like a rouge-lite drama-simulator? its hard to describe.

32. First major clan. absolute drama. Halfheart murdered a lot of cats by using the medicine cat, Laketail, and so did her daughter, Barkkit- only with a more claws-on-approach. 10/10 would recommend reading that book.

33. Current clan. Less drama- more survival. They’re not labelled, but we have; Lilacstar, Boulderheart, Flipleaf, Skyclaw, Blotchpaw, Owlfur and Wormtail.

anipoke characters as k-pop stans

ash likes temp groups. he probably cried when iz*one disbanded ( but who didn’t ) but still stans all the members in their current activities. he also loves somi and the other ioi members a lot. he’d only listen to k-pop casually tbh, and never really go on social media to talk about them cause he’s only heard the horror stories of it.

misty is a shawol. and she just generally likes the old sm groups. she’s still going ring ding dong ring ding dong ring diggy ding diggy ding ding ding in 2023. she posts a ton of updates of her biases and their songs, but her accs are usually filled with a bunch of old memes and ‘get jjonged’ videos.

gary’s an nctzen. sadly. he really only stans yuta, taeyong, jaemin, and a few others, because he has to keep his mental capacity. he knows anything and everything about every scandal they’ve ever had just so he can call out people for saying bullshit on his tl. chloe’s also an nctzen, but she’s jaehyun biased and doesn’t really dislike any of the members. their friends all cried when they heard sticker.

iris is the 3rd nctzen, she just doesn’t like sticker as much. which like, okay. she’s a dreamzen. she likes mark and w- jisung. i can’t call him that here. always finds herself talking to the dumbest people on stantwt. she likes more girl groups, though. and she watches those hello82 ateez videos on youtube.

goh is a taeyeon biased sone. he didn’t just have no friends because he didn’t want to talk to anyone, but because nobody would dance to gee with him. he got jessica jung’s book only because snsd, but then he realized the book was uh. not the greatest. gets into arguments all the time and has the sm entertainment apology post format memorized.

may’s a reveluv. seulgi biased. she buys pcs off social media even if they’re super expensive cause they look nice. kiawe’s also a reveluv, a HUGEEEE one. joy & yeri biased. he makes a hit tweet once a week and ( somehow ) is never in fanwars because everyone knows he’s right. they’re listening to birthday and peekaboo at this moment.

dawn is a . . . bunny? is that what newjeans stans are called?? i jst call myself a nwjns stan i actually have no idea. she does all the choreographies in her room, and she’s danielle and minji biased. has a bunch of lightsticks because she thinks they look cool in her room.

serena’s a sana biased once. knows every single dance even if she’s never done them in her life. she collects photocards and albums, probably has a photocard binder or a few. people keep trying to argue with her on stantwt so she has everybody blocked.

gladion’s another once. all the people he knows thinks he’s some fucking edgelord ( and he is, he’s not denying it ) and then they listen to his playlists full of what is love and heart shaker. nayeon stan. he also listens to a lot of bibi, though. people keep making him dance to love shot??? he just wants to go to bed??

lana stans whatever she feels like at the moment tbh. she’s a yunjin ult and keeps telling people to stop filling up her feed with garam because she was only in the group for 2 weeks. has a super aesthetic layout on every platform she’s on. i’m not saying she’s a doxxer, but she definetly has mutuals who are.

sophocles is a ningning ult. barely even listens to aespa, he’s there for ningning and her only. people would think he’d be into those ai groups, he really isn’t. probably listens to (g)i-dle and nmixx too. knows all the lyrics and dances to his faves’ songs.

lillie’s an insomnia and a neverland. she’d never listen to any of her brother’s playlists tbh. very much yuqi and gahyeon biased. listens to shitty podcasts, probably makes some. she probably makes those ‘unpopular opinions’ videos and a ton of analyses, but she actually tries not to hate every single song ever.

SALEM.

Disloyalty.

Salem’s father’s side of the family is very large, and they all lived relatively close to each other so that’s where the holidays were spent. They are too friendly, too enthusiastic, too eager to accept those without strong familial connections into the MacTavish house, because community is more important than anything! Family is, and will always be, the most important part of someone’s life. Grandma’s word is law, the sons fell at her feel in some kind of idol worship — she’s a strong woman, she’s the rules, and anyone that defies her or the sons are betrayers. Salem’s father is one of the middle sons, the older twin, the charismatic and charming community man with a hidden temper and propensity to violence. Salem’s father took out his anger and frustration first one the walls and doors, and then on Salem and his little brother. The welts always faded before someone could see, so Salem never said anything about it… until he couldn’t take it anymore. He started to speak up, to ask for apologies, to ask for it to stop — but no one speaks out of turn, no one accuses the sons of wrongdoing. The MacTavish sons can do nothing wrong — the punishment for disloyalty is avoidance, is excommunication. The MacTavish family has since disowned Salem, and the only one that talks to him from that side of his family now is his own brother. This is something that haunts him most during the holidays — his house still feels cold and empty, even after all these years.

Anger.

Salem doesn’t like to admit it, but he has inherited some of his fathers anger. Unlike him, however, Salem would never physically take it out on anyone, though he has a tendency to snap. To reach a boiling point and yell and scream until the anger passes. It scares him — it’s like looking in a mirror and seeing his father instead of his own reflection. A part of the reason he relies so heavily on weed is to keep that anger at bay, to check it before it gets too bad. If he’s hardly aware of his surroundings he can’t get mad about it.

Forget.

Salem has a terrible memory that he always blames on the weed, but it started way before that. As a child he was forgetful too, long before he even began smoking. He would listen to friends recall memories he was there for in such great detail, like it happened yesterday, while he himself struggled to recall the fuzziest details. Because of this, Salem took to carrying around a camcorder or a regular camera to take pictures and videos. Sometimes this is the only way he knows things truly happened.

FELIX.

Cold.

When Felix was in highschool, he was in love with his best friend Danny. This was his first love, the kind that left his chest aching in his room after a particularly long phone call. The kind of love that made uncontrollable giggles erupt. Danny meant the world to him, they had plans to make it onto broadway together, to act together. They were inseparable, and Felix planned to confess, some day, when he could work up the courage.

It had snowed pretty hard the day before, the ground was dusted in a beautiful powdery white. Felix was sixteen then, Danny seventeen — they were celebrating their ninth year as friends, wishing for many, many more. But it was time for Danny to go, he was a new driver, after all, and his parents were already going to be mad at him for being out as late as he was. Felix tried to convince him to stay the night, that it wasn’t safe to drive, but Danny was insistent that everything would be okay. Felix eventually agreed and let him go, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was going to happen, that something was wrong…

And when he got the phone call, he knew he was right. Danny’s parents called him the next morning, telling him Danny got into a wreck just off the highway. He practically ran to the hospital, still in his pajamas, to be by his friends side. Felix considered confessing right then and there, kissing his cheeks and telling him just how in love he was, but a week went by and the more Danny healed, the more Felix shied from the idea. What if Danny didn’t like him the same? What if it made things bad? Felix swallowed it back, deciding to save it for another day. Maybe after prom, after all, they were going together.

Felix received a call about a week and a half after the crash. We don’t know what happened! Danny just suddenly took a turn for the worst! He rushed to the hospital with urgency, stopped from entering the room by doctors and nurses. The room was a madhouse of movement, of equipment and barked orders, and Felix watched with horror through the doorway as that movement stopped. The chaos was over, but the heart rate monitor still screamed, still displaying a flat red line void of the peaks and valleys of a living heartbeat. Call it. 10:42 pm. Poor guy, he was so young. Stunned, he watches the doctors and nurses file out of the room, heads bowed. I’m sorry — so sorry — we’re so sorry for your loss. He didn’t turn his head to see Danny’s family crying. He just kept staring ahead, into the room, hoping to see him sit up. Felix has hated hospitals ever since.

Misunderstanding.

After he fled Salem and started his life on the road, he met a girl named Lola. She was smart, kind, funny, if not a little misunderstood. She was a sad girl, trapped by horrible parents, and so he helped her hatch up a plan to leave that place and explore the states together. They were in love.

Lola suffered a lot by the hand of her parents. She needed help, the sadness suffocating to her sometimes, but Felix did all he could to help her, and for a while it seemed to be working. But she slowly got worse, deteriorating right in front of his eyes. She began experiencing screaming fits, bouts of uncontrollable anger and despair. Felix, although increasingly more and more worried, never left her side. He was in love, after all, and he would be damned if he lost this one. It was a warm spring day when he asked her to marry him, and she said yes.

He knew she wanted him to do something for her for Valentine's day — she had been hinting at it for weeks. He saved up as much as he could, renting them out a cheap little hotel room to stay in for the night so they could watch movies and eat take out in peace. She had another flare up, angry about something and despairing about another — Felix mentioned that they should look into help, for the both of them, which made her explode. The fight was loud and dramatic, and despite himself, he decided to leave her be for a moment, to let her cool off, while he went and got her favorite take out as an apology for upsetting her. He would only be gone for a few minutes! But a few minutes turned into an hour and a half — holiday traffic and busy lines at the restaurant.

He returned to a cold room, the lights off, the bathtub running. Lola lay motionless on the bed, an empty bottle of pills at her side. And a note. I CANT TAKE THIS ANYMORE. YOU CANT MOLD ME INTO YOUR PERFECT GIRL. IM A PERSON. TAKE ME WITH MY FLAWS. YOU THINK IM TERRIBLE. IM GONE.

Confusion.

TABBY.

1 & 2) Monster & cruelty

“Monster” would be the word she would use to describe her parents. She grew up in a wealthy family, her parents both working, one in tech and the other a doctor. She was raised mostly by staff, by her older sisters tyrannical rule, by herself. She had always been a bright kid, but unlike the rest of her family she didn’t want a “practical” ( as they called it ) job, she wanted to do something creative — she wanted to design video games. She would be laughed at by her parents, punished if they caught her drawing or working on anything that wasn’t what they wanted her to work on. She was told by her parents that she was to become a biology major. That she was to pursue a profession in the sciences, and for a while she tried to fit into that role for them.

But she couldn’t, she felt like she was drowning. She was never good enough for them, she never lived up to their expectations, she was always in the shadow of her perfect sisters and their 4.0 gpa. She started to rebel, perfect little Tabby started to wear all black and talk about dark things. She started skipping classes and smoking cigarettes, and her parents weren’t having any of it. There was another fight, she was told to change her attitude or she would be taken out of public school. She screamed, she cried, she told them she just wanted to be her, that she wanted them to accept her for her. They decided to lock her into her room that night, a room they had stripped clean of everything but the “essentials” for the life they wanted her to have; they were going to deal with her in the morning. She packed up her clothes, her notebooks, anything she had left and snuck out the window, driving away to stay with Lillie and her family for a while.

Six months passed and she hadn’t heard a word from them. Then a year. Finally a call, after she wrecked the car still under their insurance. No are you okay and no we missed you. Just an address where to meet them. A diner.

They were already done eating when she arrived, eyes vacant and cold as they handed her over an old shoe box. There is no place for a monster like you in our family, Tabitha. From this day forward, we do not know each other. We do not want you. You are an orphan.

The box contained every picture of her that was in her childhood house. Ripped and torn pieces, like she had been cut out of all the pictures that hung on the walls. She cried alone in that booth. That was her last night as a human.

3) misfortune.

Tabby believes she was born cursed. The unwanted child, the tortured creative. She was so happy when she was turned, she finally felt like herself, finally things felt right for a change, but now all her closest friends seem to hate what she has become. She feels like she can’t win, can’t be happy and please everyone, like she is always going to be doing something wrong. This in turn has made her very callous. Very cold and calculated. If her friends think she is a monster, it's a monster they will get. She is sick of living by other people's rules and standards. She wants what she wants and she will get it, no matter the price.

LILLIE.

Escape.

Writing has and always will be her form of escape. It’s the only place she’s in control and that she can write her feelings out in a way that makes sense. She had always loved reading and writing as a kid, but the older she got the more she dove into it. Its how she made friends before. It’s how she processes her day to day. Fun fact (and also an extremely meta one): lillie has a tumblr rp account where she writes a few of her original muses.

Dissociation.

She has never really felt connected to herself. She has always been a very sad girl, but her birth parents never believed her when she said that. She would get this horrible aching in her chest when she was a child, she wouldn’t be able to stop crying, but they told her she was fine. She was being dramatic. And to stop, because what were people going to think of them if they saw her crying all the time? She didn’t know how to self soothe, she didn’t know the tools to make that feeling go away, so instead she would take a step outside herself. She would pretend so hard that it wasn’t real that she started to feel like she, herself, wasn't real. She would walk around as a husk of a girl, empty of anything because being empty was better than being sad.

Injury.

She was very young, too young one could say, when she learned about bloodletting through school, that the people of history believed that the shedding of blood would help cure illnesses. The practice of bloodletting was mentioned offhanded by one of her tutors, particularly enamored with that portion of history, and as a curious child, Lillie took it upon herself to look it up later. She wondered if it might help her too — and it did, for a small while. The relief she felt each time became shorter and shorter, the pain in her chest would come back every time. Her birth parents never noticed the scars.

But Hawk did. He noticed right away. His eyes bore sadness and worry, hopelessness, every time he caught glimpses of her bandaged wrists. It was his idea to cover the scars, to make them beautiful with art. She was entirely too young to have been given a tattoo, but she was also too young to have so many scars. Now they act as art — ripples in the water that delicate lily pads float in, tranquil and peaceful. Lily pad, a nickname from Hawk, the one who helped chase away the hollow feeling in her chest. The one who helped her feel real again.

Got Bianca to 3/5 while trying to get SS Giovanni, so I can use her as a decent tank with Weird Shield, which raises her special defense under Psychic Terrain. Does require some RNG for Flint and the sides to not spam Fire Blast at the start of the battle and for Breathtaking! to MPR at least once.

Third round: Bertha

Hehe Brendon does 1/3 damage to Bertha’s HP with Leaf Storm before sync. Even though the sides ruin by quad-queuing, he still takes Bertha out before her sync.

ARE YOU READY FOR THE MEME TEAM?

So I totally forgot Diantha has a Ghost weakness so she dies immediately at sync. I tried running a Xerneas/Umbreon/Gardevoir team and using Snarl to reduce the Special Attack to -6 in order to attempt to clear with Gardevoir, but she wasn’t doing enough damage back for the amount she was taking. I decided to try to run a Moonblast DPS Xerneas team, similar to my Horn Leech DPS team. I used Eevee and Ribombee as Support to boost my stats. Plus, I was able to boost Evasion to +6 so I was able to avoid most attacks along with boosting Accuracy to +6, so pretty much none of my attacks were missing. After 10 long minutes, I was able to clear the stage. As funny as this meme team was, it still was a painful 10 minutes waiting for the stage to be cleared and hope I don’t immediately get one shot.

The woman is pretty sure he will offer her that blood again if he does find out... And while she had always refused it so far, she was tempted to take such an offer now. She was feeling sick for days now. Of course she thinks about it... Even if it would include of her accepting someone's help.

Lilli swallows, and slowly looks at the man. At Laurence. Her movements had been just a tiny bit slower than usual, though she hoped he wouldn't notice. Then she opens her mouth, and-

" Am I now? "

-and answer with a counter question. It was a terrible habbit of her whenever she didn't wanted to answer a question truthfully. And she knows the vicar won't be satisfied with that answer either. So Lilli clears her throat before trying again.

" I believe I am always this pale, Vicar... Nothing to worry over. "

He rolls his eyes, downing what’s left in the whiskey bottle. For a moment, he tries to bite his tongue—really tries, knowing that nothing good can come from speaking his mind. But the silence gets to him, unspoken protests drunkenly rattling around in his skull, agitating him. He puts the empty bottle down and looks at her, dead-eyed.

“I can’t take him from you if you don’t have him,” he says dryly. Then, softer, as if realizing that would hurt her feelings: “Sorry.”

He tries to leave it there. Avoiding eye contact, he stands up and makes his way back to the liquor cabinet, retrieving the first bottle he sees. Bourbon. He downs half of it in one go.

“You know what’s funny?” he says, lowering the bottle from his lips and making his way back to the couch. “Everyone always comes at me with that. ‘Don’t hurt him, don’t kill him, don’t take him from me,’ over and over, all the fucking time, as if I’m the one to worry about. But he’s more likely to kill me. One day I think he will.”
