Following on the trend, and with Kate being Indian, I kinda hope when they DO introduce Sophie that she’s latina or at the very least Spanish from like Spain or whatever…

I just like black hair okay? It’s really pretty to me (much better than stereotypical Blonde or red haired Brits in pop culture, even though said stereotypes are more realistic, albeit less common) and I’d like to see even more variety as far as the characters

Even though I don't care about the movie since that shit gave me a headache. But the way the fandom treated sofia wylie was actually disgusting.

Ya empezaron a transmitir la segunda temporada de La Bruja de Mercurio

Algunos comentarios:

*Creo que me traumó demasiado ver a Sophie diciendo “Suletita” en los dos episodios en que apareció. Por un lado, me gusta que pongan ese tipo de modificaciones en las traducciones latinas, como que pegan más, pero por otro, también llegó a ser hasta cómico escuchar a Sophie diciendo cosas como “Voy a matar a todos tus amigos, Suletita”. Creo que en esta versión eso fue lo que terminó de cansar a Eri XD.

“¡Las únicas que le pueden decirle Suletita a mi hermana somos yo, mi mamá y tal vez, la cuñada!”

También cabe destacar que hicieron un cambio muy extraño en el diálogo de Sophie. En el original, Sophie expresaba que quería ser la hermana de Suletta, pero en español dicen que quiere ser “su mejor amiga”. Creo que esto modifica mucho al personaje de Sophie, ya que, como vimos en otras escenas, para ella era muy importante el tener una familia y creía que deseaba que Suletta fuera parte de ella (aunque luego descubrió que a quien quería era a Eri). También toda la plática sobre las hermanas servía como una pista de que Suletta en realidad no es hija única, así que no le veo caso que hubieran cambiado esos diálogos.

Todos los actores de doblaje son muy buenos, aunque me parece que Miorine suena demasiado adulta (creo que esto también pasa en el doblaje en inglés), me está saltando aún más en estos episodios porque en la versión original se veía muy claro el contraste de que aunque Mio hubiera empezado a vestirse de manera más adulta, seguía sonando como una jovencita y así quedaba claro que era una niña tratando de madurar muy rápido porque las circunstancias la orillaban a eso. Aunque bueno, la cuestión de cómo debe sonar un personaje ya es mi preferencia personal, en realidad.

Durante la escena en la que Elan está acosando a Suletta, en la tele pusieron un letrero que decía: “Continúa viendo este programa que es apto para todo público”. Me mató. Qué poco tacto de la televisora, la verdad.

Otra cosa curiosa es que durante la transmisión se propone un hashtag para que los espectadores vayan comentando la serie en redes sociales y a veces algunos de estos comentarios los ponen en pantalla. Como esta fue la primera vez que me puse a ver la serie en vivo, utilicé el hashtag para comentar y ver si algo pegaba. Terminaron poniendo mi comentario sobre que shippeaba a Suletta con Nika.

Ahora todo el país sabe que shippeo SuleNika.

Bueno…. ¿Pueden culparme?

Ahora, ¿debería escribir un fanfic con ellas? ¿Ustedes qué creen? (Por cierto, también shippeo MioNika y creo que con más entusiasmo por las posibilidades de angst que hay con ellas; curiosamente el SabiNika no me llama la atención).

Por último unos comentarios con spoilers:

A decir verdad, tenía miedo de volver a ver la segunda temporada porque recordaba que hubo cosas que no me gustaron tanto y temía que al volverla a ver, descubriera que me gustaba aún menos. En general los primeros dos capítulos están bastante bien y reflejan cómo la serie se va volviendo más oscura. El capítulo 15, en cambio, no me disgustó tanto como me temía. Creo que funciona bien por sí solo, pero si lo pones en contexto con lo que pasa después en la serie, se vuelve problemático. No me molesta que de pronto la serie se hubiera enfocado en otros personajes que ya no vamos a volver a ver, esto también ocurría en otras series de Gundam donde a veces teníamos historias autoconclusivas desde la perspectiva de un bando contrario, pero estas experiencias siempre contribuían al desarrollo de los personajes principales. Lo que me hace ruido es que, aunque la situación es muy interesante, Suletta (ya saben, la protagonista) nunca se involucra en esto y creo que habría estado interesante ver cómo podría reaccionar ante estas situaciones, sobre todo después de haber peleado contra Sophie.

Tampoco me gustó el hecho de que después de que se descubre la verdadera razón por la que se estableció el convertir a Miorine en un trofeo con el sistema de los duelos, no se hubiera ahondado más en eso. Se le hizo un daño gravísimo a Mio y nunca se discutió a fondo. Caray, si los escritores le iban a copiar la tarea a “Utena” poniendo estos elementos en su trama debieron tener la decencia de hacerlo bien y criticar un poco más el asunto, ¿no?

Jajaja, sueno como una hater con tanta queja, pero me sigue gustando mucho la serie. Es sólo que en esta parte es cuando se comienza a notar que hubo muchas buenas ideas que ya no exploraron más a fondo por falta de capítulos. En fin, seguiremos informando.

Resident Evil Fancast #2

So, I've already did a Fancast before but it was like...I don't know, years ago? I still like it but now I'm taking more of a "realistic approach" choosing actors that could actually play the characters based on their Hollywood Status and age. I will also be remembering the Remakes when choosing the actors

Ps: I really like the cast of Welcome to Raccoon City and would totally watch them again in a sequel. I just choose not to put any of them here

Chris Redfield

So, for Chris my first choice was Gabriel Basso who stars in The Night Agent, I haven't watched the show but I think he matches the look with the character. He also have that aura of being serious but chill and trustworthy, he is in his late 20's so basically around the same age Chris is in Re1. The second actor is Marco Pigossi, a talented Brazilian actor that stared in Tidelands and will be in the spin-off of The Boys. He also matches the physical description of the character, and also have that aura that Gabriel also have plus those gorgeous charming and kind eyes. And Lastly I picked Dj Cotrona, he is the older of all, being in his 40's, I like his role in the From dusk till dawn tv series and doesn't hurt that he also matches the physical appearance of the character plus he really looks like a military man I don't know.

Jill Valentine

Just by looking at Daniela Melchior you understand why I pick her, he is also in her 20's and have all the talent and charisma necessary to play the character . The second is Adria Arjona cuz I really love the idea of a Latina playing Jill, she in her 30's and has those damn eyes that just get you. Lauren Cohan is a bit older for the role, but she would be the perfect Jill to DJ Cotrona, if the movie wanted to portray them as older characters. Btw, the four protagonists I choose people around the same age to play the characters because I think it would be weird to have a 40'old Chris with a 20'something.

Claire Redfield

Annalise Basso look more like the og Claire Redfield, she is also the youngest of the 3 actresses here and have very kind and loving eyes and features, and she is the youngest sister of Gabriel Basso and I think it would be pretty dope to see two siblings play the Redfield Siblings. Nell Tiger Free looks more like remake Claire, she have that "insta model" look and a "cool girl" vibe, she stars in Servant and is a very promising actress, and for all the Game of Thrones fans, she also played Myrcella Baratheon on the show. And Lastly, Sophie Skelton is the oldest on them, a talented actress that starts in Outlander , her looks is kind of a mix between old and new Claire, she is also have a more mature posture and would be the Claire to Lauren Cohan and DJ Cotrona Jill and Chris

Leon Kennedy

Nicholas Hamilton, the bully in It would be a nice Leon to Annalise's Claire, since they both worked together before in Captain Fantastic. Second we have Nicholas Galatzine , who stars in Red, white and royal blue...I mean look at him, he really looks like remake Leon. Brenton Thwaites is the oldest of them and just have that friendly nice guy face. I think Leon needs someone who could appear/convey adorableness and capable inexperience and bravery. And I think these three fit this.

Albert Wesker

Anthony Starr is the Wesker we always dream of seeing in the big screen and I will die on that hill. Warren Cole is good second choice, I mean he is a himbo in Yellowjackets but he also appeared in The Wilds and damn, he was intimidating there as the homophobic father. Lastly we have Kevin Janssen, I mean, look at him, he just have a villain face c'mon. Also he did portray a real, terrifying bad guy in Revenge (the good revenge corn movie)

For RE1 I think of Kiernan Shipka, Nick Offerman and Jack Quaid as Rebecca, Barry and Brad.

Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2 we have Jung Ho-yeon as Ada but I also think that Gemma Chan would rock that role. Sterling K Brown is Marvin c'mon. Violet McGraw as Sherry. Andy Garcia would be terrify good was Chef Bryan Iron. And Teddy Sears and Tricia Helder as William and Annette Birkin

Resident Evil 3

Diego Boneta as Carlos Oliveira, just look at the gorgeous hair and beard. Stephen Lang as Mikhail Victor. Igor Jijikine would make Nikolai look even more intimidating. And Trevante Rhodes as Tyrell Patrick

Resident Evil Code Veronica

Ewan Mitchell and Phia Saban from House of the Dragon would be so good as Alfred and Alexia Ashford. Jaeden Martell is basically at the same age of Steve and I think his character needs to be played by a young actor anyway. Tenoch Huerta would be a interesting Rodrigo Juan Raval

Resident Evil 4

Diego Luna would be the perfect cast for Luis Será, not only he looks the part but also has that riz. Sophie Thatcher is a extremely talented young actress who would be able to portray a more develop and cool Ashley, like the one we saw in the Remake. Paula Patton was a nice voice, is elegant and would be a nice choice for Hunnigan, another actress that I think could play the role is Jennifer Connelly. Alan Ritchson as Krauser, I don't think I need to sell this one. Mads Mikkelsen is such an imposing presence on scene, he would be amazing as Osmund Sadler. And Lastly, Jack Gleeson, our beloved Jeffrey Baratheon, would be a perfect Ramon Salazar

Ok nerds, hear me the fuck out !!

This is my fancast for the JLI, but before we all lose it I need a quick disclaimer: this fancast is what I think the JLI could look like in a live action movie, this isn’t serious and I think if this movies were to exist it would be a comedy movie bc it’s the JLI, they’re not supposed to be taken seriously by anyone!!!!

With that in mind this is my fancast and I’ll walk you through it, let’s go:

Blue Beetle (Ted Kord):

Logan Lerman, off to a great start, i know (lol). Based on Logan’s roles throughout his career I think he would be a great Ted Kord bc he can play a nice, wholesome guy and I think he looks like the character as well. Like Ted, you would wanna put him in a jar and protect him from the world. Also he hasn’t been in many movies recently and I miss him, he deserves better.

Booster Gold (Michael J. Carter):

Lucas Till, just look at him !!! You cannot tell me he doesn’t look exactly like booster, you can’t !!! Besides Lucas has been in many action productions from movies to tv shows BUT he was also the love interest in the Hannah Montana movie THATS RANGE, he can play a the super hero and the goof we all know and love. And again, look at him !!!!

Green lantern (Guy Gardner):

Dacre Montgomery. Ok, Guy is a hard one to cast bc he is the biggest asshole in the world but we also love him bc he’s part of the JLI, we need someone that can play a jerk but can also have a redeeming plot bc again, we love him. And in my opinion dacre is the guy (get it ? Guy ?) I mean, u saw him as Billy in stranger things, he’s a great actor, he is perfect for this role.

Now comes the exciting part, the gurls.

Ice (tora olafsdotter):

Sophie Turner. Do I even have to say anything at this point? Look at her she IS Tora. You’ve seen Sophie in GOT you know she can play the baddest bitch on the planet while playing a sweet girly girl and that’s Tora right there. She can carry this role easily and I think she looks just like Tora she’s also very tall wich is great considering she’s playing a Norwegian woman.

Ok, now we need to have a talk about this next one, HEAR ME OUT.

Fire (Beatriz Bonilla da Costa):

Selena Gomez. I know what you’re gonna say: “she’s not Brazilian”. Yeah I know (I’m Brazilian myself) but let’s be realistic, it’s Hollywood, they don’t care, they don’t even know the difference between Latinos and frankly, so doesn’t the rest of the world. So if we’re gonna have a Latina play Fire it would be great to have one the most loved latinas in the world playing her. I love Selena Gomez, she’s a great actress and she can play a bad bitch and a lovely girl just like Bea. And I even got this photo to help you visualize (you’re welcome btw) and I think she looks amazing, I would add green eye contacts to the mix but I think she would nail it. And also, as a Brazilian myself she has my blessing to play fire U.U

Martian Manhunter (J’onn J’onzz):

Terry Crews, remember when I said that this movie has to be a comedy?? I always thought that Martian Manhunter would be a great comic relief bc of the breach of expectation considering he’s supposed to be a very serious character and to me Terry Crews would be PERFECT for this role, not only he can play a very intimidating character he is also one of the funniest actors out there, also with Martian’s ability to shape shift I would love to see terry play a range of things martian can turn into. I love him.

Max Lord:

Zac Efron, here’s what I’m thinking for this one: Max has to be played by someone that we really love so when it’s reveled that he’s the villain we feel even more betrayed and I think Zac is our guy. Bc everybody loves Zac efron, if you don’t you’re dead on the inside, and Zac had shown us that he can play a villain role, the man played Ted B*ndy for fuck sake’s !! He can carry this role easily.

And last but not least

Batman (Bruce Wayne):

I have no idea, this is the only one I can’t think of, bc although I love BatPat I don’t think Robert is a great fit for this particular fictional project lol, this would be a comedy movie and Robert’s version of the Batman is super serious, besides I wanted the main JLI and Batman and Martian to have a bit of an age gap to show how immature the JLI is compared to household name super heroes like the Batman you know ? So if you have a suggestion let me know bc I can’t think of anyone.

this gender bent michael thing…. i need to know who’s spreading misinformation because i’m tired. it is literally impossible for them to gender bend michael because he has to be able to john’s title and property. A WOMAN CANNOT DO THAT. that’s the rules that have already been set in this world so they can’t walk that back. like i’m so tired. they need to announce sophie already, i’m about done with this fandom. i will be dragging everyone for believing in this gender bending mess when she’s announced too!

This fandom is highly insufferable. I won’t say exactly who is behind these rumors. Mainly because I don’t want anyone to say I set someone “innocent” up to be “attacked”(but as soon as they are proven wrong ☺️). However, for now, just know the front runners spreading this crap are those who are severely anti-Black.

It’s not even about Michael. Michael is just a tool to them. This all started because these people started freaking out over the fact that all evidence points to Masali Baduza, a Black woman, playing Sophie Beckett.

That was never in the bingo cards for them because they never wanted Sophie to be Black(whose God damned show they think this is I have no idea, but they’ve clearly forgotten this is a Shondaland production). So they had to adapt, hence the Masali is actually genderbent Michael because the voices in my head told me so🙃

*And even if Masali isn’t playing Sophie, not for one moment do I think Sophie’s actress won’t be Black. Nor do I think they cast a woman to play Michael Stirling. Not only can a woman not inherit an earldom, a woman can’t make babies with another woman, and gay marriage is still illegal in the Bridgerton universe. Nor can we ignore that the show uses the books in promo and vice versa.

I mean these are the same people who have self admitted that they want Sophie to be Asian, or Latina(as if Black Latina’s do not exist). Who go on and on and on about how Sophie has blonde hair and green eyes. Who have incessantly whined about the show being “too Black.”

It’s rather curious that these are the people who allegedly got the inside scope, but what do I know…

Production for Season 4 is about to begin on June 10th. The costume designers are using black woman as inspo. And I am willing to bet my first born that Francesca will not be Season 4. So the black woman will definitely be Sophie but Sophie has not been cast yet? Going to be honest, doesn't seem believable.

You do know there's a BUNCH of black women in the show anon right? QC, Lady Danbury, Alice Mondrich and now Michaela.....

So they could just be using those photos for any of their characters for new hair, etc inspiration. Doesn't mean Sophie will be black.

And frankly, I don't think she will be. Simon was black, John is black, Michaela, Gareth will likely be black as well since he's Lady Danbury's grandson.

Shonda LOVES bragging about diversity so much.

Maybe Sophie should be Latina or Asian. I'm sure women of one those ethnicity's would like some representation as well.

I've always have a problem with contemporary romance, maybe its the writing but idk, I don't find myself reading many through the year

I was talking to friends about it and I totally get it- one of them mentioned the realism takes them out at times because they enjoy reading for the fantasy of it all (also some of the language can feel a little cringe to them because we're so aware of what modern slang is in and out, as opposed to historical slang and language), which is why they prefer historicals. I agree to an extent, but I feel like there are just so many things out there I'll never experience so contemporary romances can very easily become fantasy/unrelatable to me in a good way. But that's also the reason I can't handle a lot of contemporaries I see being peddled that are so, so formulaic: cis-het white boy, white girl, cartoon cover, and they're "enemies" who are fake dating for like, rooming purposes (I'm pretty sure that's an actual premise I came across). I'm not saying that premise is too real, but it is horribly boring to me. And then on the other hand "dark" romances have the drama, but they quickly seem to become all about suffering for suffering's sake and I can't handle that either. The sweet spot in terms of contemporaries for me is

a) DIVERSE contemporaries with racially diverse rep, queer rep, neurodiverse rep, physically disabled rep, etc. And like, as a South Asian I enjoy the relatability factor that comes with reading romances with South Asians because it's very much a novelty in a space taken up by mostly white authors and white characters.

b) I'm a sucker for well-done billionaire (and to a lesser extent royal) shit. Some Harlequin authors tend to do it excellently and consistently in my opinion, but there's also books like The Boyfriend Subscription by Steven Salvatore (mm Pretty Woman retelling), Minx by Sophie Lark (billionaire/escort), Lush Money by Angelina M. Lopez (she's a billionaire, he's a prince, both Hispanic and she's a Latina), the All The King's Men duology by Kennedy Ryan (he's an environmentalist billionaire and she's a political campaign strategist)

c) erotic romances, again, well written and diverse. Basically, Sierra Simone lolol

And the theme here for me is that diversity does a lot in terms of making for a better story, better plot, better romance, etc. That's not to say I don't have my white girl favorites (see: Tessa Bailey's older body of work; also my personal theory is that everyone has white girl favorites, like, they write super white content but it works, even if others don't see the appeal), but these are the kinds of contemporaries I gravitate towards.
