#LYNN YOU DO SO MUCH FOR MY SANITY

Text
I need to ramble about Yomiel real quick (he's been living in my head rent free 💥)
usually I don't like villains who do bad things just because their backstory is tragic but Yomiel is different, he's.. very balanced in both sides? I'm not sure how to describe it
He was literally just some guy, did nothing wrong in his life (except, maybe that hair of his- which I am quickly growing fond of)
It all spiraled when he accepted a job to help them organize the nation's secrets
But then he got accused of being spy and was threatened to ruin his life for a statement (it drove him into hopelesness.
he shouldn't have taken the gun, but it was his only 'light' at that time..
Now- from an outsider perspective one would think "oh what the fuck, why did you take her hostage" ..and hm. I still think like this LOL
but desperation and panic can influence one's behaviour, how it becomes hard to think reasonably.. especially when time is running out FAST. doesn't excuse what he did but I think it's important to know what led him to do this
And then.. oh god, him having to see his fiancee die because she wants to be with him. His cruel fate didn't let him into the afterlife (Yomiel mentioned this which either means:
1. When he didn't exactly die from the meteor shard, he knew he couldn't
Or 2. It might be that he has tried....to be with his fiancee (it didn't work))
(The fact it was mentioned that she had just died recently, knowing that if he had arrived sooner she would still be alive. That shit hurts)
yomiel only has his cat for support, a recently dead man can't have human friends. It would only lead to trouble (I mean, a guy who died from a meteor is unnatural, the news is probably in everyone's newspaper)
And it keeps. getting. WORSE. He lost his human functions! (Yomiel says this but I can't remember when) he cannot feel touch (in chapter 15 we can see him uneffected by pain) and we can guess to an extend: smell, taste, and everything else
Just numbness and loneliness, his last few moments of life was hopeless and pain.. his "unlife" is even more awful (this man can't catch a break huh?)
Imagine living like that for such a long time.. and knowing nothing will change. that he will forever spent an eternity like this.. that's bound to make anyone lose their sanity (and he most likely had lost a lot of them)
It makes sense why he was so.. angry and vengeful, he was an innocent man dragged into this. He loaths his unlife so much that he despises everything that had led him to this fate, he ends up hating the girl too (because she was there, giving him an option to take her as hostage) [<- trying to understand his perspective.. it sounds a little less selfish now, but still! not cool yomiel!]
But most importantly of why he's reaaaally angry, is because he thinks the death of his fiancee was caused by them
(Dialogues where he mentions her)
1. In the submarine with lynne
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way he tried to ignore it.. T_T
2. Coversation with jowd
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, he avoided it.. only responding with silence
yomiel is wrong hurting many people and blaming lynne too, but when you've spent years (10 YEARS. 120 months. 3652 days. 87660 hours) without human connection.. soul welling up with negative emotions.. do you think you can still feel empathy towards other human beings? after all the things that happened as well?
(Maybe- but if it was me I'd be too blinded by hate, and that's probably what yomiel feels too.. ah of course his dwindling sanity only made it worse)
So when Lynne sympathize with him, cried for him, he DECIDED his revenge was over
One of the reasons of his revenge, He wanted them to feel the same pain as him ..and they did, he finally felt understood
but also. I'd like to think it's because she gave him a human connection, a connection to the living, something he hadn't felt for a long time and it came from the person he sees as an enemy
he wasn't really a bad guy, he's a man messed up in the head because of all his upbringings, lynne gave him a reminder of what it's like to have someone (and it must have been so lonely, after losing his only friend at that night)
Again- Yomiel is still accountable for the crimes he committed, it's just the events that made him become like this is so.. understandable
In the end we can't really fault any of them, I guess you can say cabanela (because he was the one who interrogated him and left the gun there)
But who would've thought that there will be a meteor crashing into the park? It's all is just really. Really. Unfortunate
It genuinely delights me so much that this man is actually getting mentally better
He most likely have guilt complex but I'm sure he'll be able to let go of it since most of his actions were undone in the new timeline

working on a more serious piece but here's some reposts of Outis art in the meantime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these are some chibis i made alongside one for the 13th Lord of Chaos (which is in her post). I'd love to do more of these eventually for Riastrad and Mumei but they're just soooo much effort to render.
Tumblr media
this is a portrait from the very start of the year before i really even knew how to render metal. you can see my taste for shiny, glowy stuff peeking out even then and i still kinda like the piece but it's admittedly far from my best.
Back then, Outis didn't have a name and was a extremely different character personality and character arc-wise. Their lack of a name was the original reason I chose the name Outis.
Tumblr media
These were Outis' original designs. While I quite like some of them, they didn't fit the story or role I intended for them to have. -The helm had to be discarded because it was too similar to Sepulchure's despite my efforts to dinstinguish it from him. -The armor on the left was too plain and unremarkable for the sort of 'Dark General'-type of character I was looking for, despite how practical and utilitarian they were supposed to be. -The right ones just didn't have the power in their designs I was looking for and the top-right looked a bit too chunky for sharper, more triangular shape i wanted.
I still quite like the hairstyles and, to an extent, the middle armor. I did eventually end up reusing the top-left hair for The hero.
Tumblr media
in-story reason for this is Lynn has always loved to dress Outis up in all kinds of pretty clothes when they're alone because Outis would never wear normal clothes otherwise.
I drew this while my tablet was broken so I had to do a lot of the lineart on my phone with no pressure which just about drove me insane. I decided to stop midway and just do it all on csp with my mouse but rendering everything with a mouse was taxing on my sanity and right hand.
Tumblr media
this is just a fun lil doodle i had while in a good mood. I'd like to redraw or maybe just refine, line and render it eventually.
Tumblr media
this is a lil sprite doodle thing i made drawing over an FE sprite. I'm not a sprite artist so it's pretty eugh lmao.

Rules
No godmodding.
This blog is 21+ only. Adult/dark/nsfw themes may be present. Mun is 30+ and does not feel comfortable interacting with minors under any circumstances. If you lie about your age you will be blocked.
Selective and mutuals only. Meaning I will only rp if we are following each other. This is mainly to keep my sanity in check. I have anxiety issues and have had bad experiences in the past with non mutuals. That being said, non mutuals can still send in asks, but all I ask is that you do not try to get around this by using anon. I enjoy getting anons. Don't get me wrong, but if you're trying to get around my rules this way then it makes me want to interact less.
For multi-muse blogs, I may not follow back because you may have muses from other Fandoms that I'm either not part of or familiar with. I am very picky about my dash, but if you have a muse I am interested in interacting with then I will make an exception.
Please be patient with me. I work a full time job and don’t always have the muse to be online every day. So replies most likely will not happen super quickly.
I do not practice reblog karma, but I do prefer that memes be reblogged from the source. It can sometimes be a downer if you reblog a meme, get several notifications, only to see that its just others reblogging from you. Especially if we are not mutuals. Doing this persistently will result in a block.
Please do not reblog rp threads if you are not involved in them. It’s ok to leave likes, but if you reblog them I will not hesitate to block.
Personal/non-rp blogs are ok, for now. All I ask is that you do not reblog any of my headcanons, in character, or ooc posts. Doing so will get you blocked with no warnings. This will also include spam liking and reblogging persistently from me. It clutters up my notifications and makes it difficult for me to keep track of stuff I may owe for replies.
If you rp on a sideblog, please let me know or have it stated somewhere on your blog.
With all of the bot stuff that's been going on, if you follow me, but have nothing on your blog, no icon, description, or anything, then I will automatically block. Even if you are not a bot, I have no way of actually knowing this is the case. Especially if there is zero info whatsoever.
There are a lot of fandoms out there that I'm not familiar with, but I do have a few that I WILL NOT interact with. This includes anything that is Disney or Nickelodeon related. While I am familiar with a few things, it's just not my thing. And I would just prefer not to. There are some fandoms that I don't mind reading into a little bit if I'm interested in interacting with a certain muse, but please respect that at least these are a hard no for me.
As far as triggers go, I don't really have any major ones, but I do understand that most do. I will do my best to tag things as appropriately as I can. If something isn't tagged that I missed, feel free to let me know.
DMs are preferably used for ooc talk and plotting. I would prefer not to rp this way, if possible. I do, however, have a discord if anyone wishes to rp there instead. Just shoot me a DM and I'll give you my info. Just bear in mind that I'm not always super active on discord, but I will do my best to keep track of things.
I will do my best to match your length of replies. I am not against small replies or one liners, but I do at least ask that there's enough for me to get a good sense of what's going on.
AU/OC/Crossover friendly. I am very much for interacting with all three. For OC’s (or any rp blog in general), I would prefer there to be a background and info to go off of. If there's not, then I may not be interested in interacting.
Shipping and relationships. Be it romance, platonic, etc., I am down for it. Though, for romantic relationships, I do prefer a bit of chemistry unless discussed otherwise beforehand.
Brief mun info
Zorra Lynn, 36, she/her, GMT-6, married with 2 cats, suffers from anxiety/depression, half Native (Muscogee/Creek), pharmacy clerk, mun of @brxken-arrxw (Hanzo Shimada of Overwatch).

5 song OTP playlist
Thank you for the tag, @mxkelsifer!
I'm deep in Mass Effect brainrot, so I'll pick songs for Lynn Shepard/Garrus Vakarian, though it's important to know that their relationship is influenced to some extent by Lynn's previous one with Ashley Williams.
Tumblr media
"Hurry Up and Save Me" by Tiffany Giardina
In the first game, Lynn is Commander Shepard, striking out as the first human Spectre to stop a rogue agent who's bent on bringing ruin to the galaxy. But then she "dies," she loses who she was and the people who supported her, she works for with Cerberus, and tackling the latest threat could be a one-way trip. She's trapped and losing control. Her internal label shifts from "Shepard" to "Lynn" as she tries to reconstruct her identity amidst the pieces of her former self. And she (perhaps unfairly) clings to Garrus as an anchor from which to rebuild.
I have to have control of myself My thoughts, my mind 'Cause the way it's going down In my life, I feel like a prisoner in a light
and
Show me your colors 'Cause without you, I'm blue (Without you, I'm blue) Hurry up and save me Hurry up and save me I just wanna feel alive And I do when I'm with you
"Love Me When I Don't" by Pentatonix
A big part of why Lynn's feelings grow from platonic to romantic is Garrus tirelessly supporting her. His patience as she reeled from the events of Overlord are just one example of him building her up when she needs it most. And this continues after they become a couple.
When all my sanity's gone The demons are strong I put you through hell You know me too well And you bring me home 'Cause you always know How to love me when I don't
When I'm too hard on myself I don't ask for help When I'm not okay I push you away But you pull me close 'Cause you always know How to love me when I don't
"More Than Friends" by Jason Mraz and Meghan Trainor
The events of ME2 break Lynn, repeatedly. Garrus doesn't fare much better. Their friendship and its connection to her previous life mean everything to her. But, oh so slowly, she realizes she wants it to be more than that. Thankfully, so does he.
At the risk of sounding foolish I don't wanna fool around no more If we're gonna do this then let's do this You can fix my broken heart if it's all yours
"Tattoo" by Jordin Sparks
It takes Lynn a long time to find the good in her lost relationship with Ash -- that she's a better person for having loved Ash, that what they had will always be a part of her. This acceptance and reconciliation is largely made possible by Lynn finding a second chance at love with Garrus.
I can't waste time, so give it a moment I realize nothing's broken No need to worry 'bout everything I've done Live every second like it was my last one I loved you once, needed protection You're still a part of everything I do You're on my heart just like a tattoo
"Dancing on My Own" by Robyn
The pronouns are off at times, but hearing this song from Ashley's perspective toward Lynn during Mass Effect 3 hurts. I occasionally regret inviting Ashley back onto the Normandy because it means she's in painfully close proximity to Lynn and Garrus when they're together.
So far away but still so near The lights come on, the music dies But you don't see me standing there I just came to say goodbye I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh And I'm giving it my all But I'm not the guy you're taking home, ooh I keep dancing on my own

I dont think we need to go back and forth in dms about it because we’re already more involved in this break up than we should probably be for our sanity lol 😂
I am very grateful to this blog for being a place where we can talk about this stuff and get other people’s perspective though ❤️
To clarify my meaning I would never call anyone crazy. I said we know that V has issues with her temper and regulating the scale of her emotional response to things. We’ve seen this on TV and she’s talked about it herself. I didn’t say this in my other post but we’ve also seen her have issues with wanting to control the behavior of people she thinks of as “hers”. I didn’t mean to suggest any of these impulses come from “craziness” or that I think she’s a bad person for doing them or anything. I actually relate a lot to those things and empathize with how painful that struggle can feel and how confusing it can be. It likely comes from trauma in her past or things she learned in the way she was raised but I won’t speculate on that because we don’t know much about that time in her life and if she wanted us to know she would share but she hasn’t.
You were right about the second part, I do think she should be grateful for the love of a healthy stable person, if that is what Jack is (and everything we’ve seen from him points to yes) It is not an easy thing to find! Especially with the career she has and in LA. Those issues can be worked on and can improve. It could happen alone but might be easier with support from someone patient who loves you. But I also don’t think it makes Jack the bad guy if he’s not in a place where he’s able to offer that kind of support, or has tried to without success and reached a point where he needs to step away, or wants to express his own feelings about this big event happening his life right now in the same way V is expressing hers, which is the vibe I was getting from other messages here.
As the other anon said I agree people treating V like a saint in complex situations if it reached her could enable distorted thinking and righteous feelings that might delay her working on issues that seem to be making her sad. Not saying you said she was a saint or that she would ever find out what we talk about here just that I was seeing sentiments that gave me that impression in posts here before I made mine.
All that said what actually happened might be nothing to do with anything we’re guessing. We literally know nothing nor should we. So I’m gonna try not to speculate more without knowing facts even though it is tempting when we as fans feel invested. I hope they keep it between them. But if this is the person they thought was the love of their life and their soulmate I fully understand why they are acting irrational and wanting to express pain and hurt about the sudden ending of it anywhere they can find to vent and look for validation of their strong feelings. Hopefully that outburst has passed now!
I think V deserves the world!! I hope she finds happiness and peace of mind. Although I only found out about Jack because of V he seems so nice and deserves to be happy too. I hope they can talk it out calmly and rationally outside of twitter likes at some point and maybe they would get somewhere!! Or if there is someone out there better for V than Jack then I hope she finds him and it works out for them. Or finds happiness alone! Or finds her way back to Brooke Lynn!! 😂 Whatever she wants she deserves.
I’m grateful for the entertainment and fuzzy feelings they gave us even if it was shorter than I would have liked and I wish only good things for both of them ❤️❤️❤️

Dylan did not realize that such a tiny human needed so many things for a day out. Stroller, diaper bag simply bursting at its zipper, and then an extra bag just in case because his wife had a tendency to worry.
"Hon, they're going to charge us admission for an extra kid when we come rolling up with all this shit." Dylan chuckled as he took the backpack from her, filled with extra snacks, bottles and diapers, and put it in the trunk of their family friendly S.U.V.
"Bad!" Her little voice squeaked from the backseat, safely secured in her car seat.
"I'm sorry, Peanut. You're right. Papa said a bad word." Dylan smiled as he turned his Mets hat around, brim to the back, then eased the door of the trunk down to shut it.
It was their first real excursion out as a family since their daughter was born. They didn't really count trips to the park or the grocery store, necessity trips or trips for sanity just to get out of the house and away from children's television.
If Dylan had to watch one more episode of The Wiggles that weekend, he was going to scream.
They had heard about a little amusement park for younger kids, a story-book village kind of thing. Smaller rides, people dressed up like characters out of the books they were reading her - Mother Goose kinds of things. They thought it would be nice to take her out on a nice afternoon and see how she did.
Their daughter, Melody Lynn O'Brien, was about a year and a half old and a carbon copy of Dylan. Smile, eyes, nose and seemingly had her father's pension for getting herself into teeny bits of trouble. Dylan and his wife had lost count of how many times they had found her in their pantry, sticky little fingers where they shouldn't be.
"Miss. Melody, are you ready to get crazy on some rides?" Dylan smiled in the rear view mirror at his little girl. He thought she looked like his wife, but everyone said she looked like him. But those eyes, oh those eyes, he saw his wife looking back at him every single day.
"You have to go with her, Papa." His wife stated softly as she reached over the console to brush her fingertips over the back of his neck while he put the vehicle in park.
"Of course I will. You keep an eye on our stuff and make sure no one takes Mr. Bear." Dylan smiled over at his wife, before he looked into the back seat where their daughter held onto the bear his sister had given her the day she was born. They were hard pressed to remove Mr. Bear from her grasp at any point in time. Dylan was certain that bear was going to college with her.
"I am Mr. Bear's bodyguard today. Oh, thank you, Peanut." His wife smiled as she turned to look into the backseat, graciously accepting the bear from their daughter.
"That's good sharing, Peanut. Now, while Mama takes care of Mr. Bear, us two bandits are going to go show these other kids how to have fun. O'Brien style, huh?" Dylan grinned as he got out of the driver's seat and unlocked the car to remove their toddler, propping her up on his hip and kissing her cheek.
"Papa!" The little girl laughed, grabbing his bearded cheeks and trying to push his face away as he carried her towards the park entrance.
Both Dylan and his wife were amazed that Melody stayed in such a happy mood the whole time, without fussing or throwing a fit.
"She's your daughter, you know." Dylan would always tease when he would peel their girl off the floor from her starfish position once she had enough of the day and go put her to bed.
Dylan could not count on both of his hands how many times Melody had requested that he take her on the carousel. But if she asked him to buy her one, he would absolutely do it. She was his baby, his girl, and he do anything for her. Though he had to admit his legs were tired from standing, and that fucking carousel song was stuck on a loop in his head.
"There she is. Our beautiful Mama. Go tell her how many times we sat on the pony, huh?" Dylan smiled as he carried Melody back over to his wife, his daughter starting to fade in his arms with her head on his shoulder.
"Mum." Melody mumbled with an arm outstretched while the other hand kept her thumb securely in her mouth.
"Come here, Peanut. I saw you over there on the carousel with Papa. Did you have fun?" His wife smiled as she took the tired toddler from Dylan and held her close, kissing her forehead.
"We had lots of fun. We rode the carousel like, 15 times. Then we went to that petting zoo and saw a real pony, but she was afraid. So, we made a deal that next time we'll try. Hey? Next time." Dylan smiled as he tickled her chubby leg before he took off his Mets hat and placed it over his daughter's head, far too big, but smiled as it shielded her from the setting sun.
"I think it's time we go home, Papa." His wife smiled over at him as she adjusted the hat on Melody's head to see her sleeping face.
"I think so, too. What do you need me to carry?" Dylan nodded as he ran his hands through his dark, sweaty hair and stood up.
"I'll take the baby, if you can handle some of this." She laughed softly as she gestured to all of their necessities around her.
"Deal." Dylan nodded as he slung the backpack over his shoulder, tossed the diaper bag in the stroller and started to lead them towards the exit of the park.
"Dylan, can you help me? I hate this stupid thing. It always pinches my fingers." She sighed as she gently eased the baby into her seat of the S.U.V and climbed back out with a shake of her hands.
"Of course, my love. Daddy's got it." Dylan smirked as he traded places with her and easily clicked the straps of his daughter's seat in, shutting the door.
"Thank you." She smiled up at him, pressing up on her toes to wrap her arms around his neck.
"You're welcome. Now, let's take this baby home and put her to bed so we can finally have time alone together, and start working on giving the Peanut a brother or sister." Dylan mumbled with a kiss to his wife's forehead and a playful smack to her backside before he unhooked his keys from his belt and watched her walk around to the passenger side.
A dozen little O'Briens sounded really, really good.

Least/favorite wt revival Christines vocally, portrayal-Wise, and overall?
Assuming the World Tour revival means the World Tour that's (currently? sort of?) running right now (because technically the World Tour before that could count as a revival), then so far their Christines have included:
Meghan Picerno
Clara Verdier
Megan Ort
Claire Lyon
Caitlin Finnie
Kaley Ann Voorhees
And had things gone as planned, Kelly Mathieson, probably, but as she's never played the role in the World Tour, we'll leave her out. Anyway, as you might imagine, it's a bit weird to "judge" these actresses. Of the six, three have videos (technically four, but Clara Verdier's is blindshot highlights of one act only from very far away), but only one - Meghan Picerno - is actually video from when she was in the World Tour. The rest are from different productions, sometimes years before they did this current World Tour - Claire Lyon is from when she did the previous World Tour in 2014, Kaley Ann Voorhees is from when she was on Broadway in the same year.
So with all that out of the way, here's my overall ranking of them (for the sake of my sanity, and because there's only six actresses anyway, I'll just do that instead of further ranking by vocals and acting):
Meghan Picerno - Again, there's a major bias because she's the only one with video from the current World Tour itself. I'll also say that I'm occasionally iffy on both her vocals and acting - I love the operatic quality but I sometimes feel the vibrato is too strong, sliding towards that "generic Broadway vibrato" many Christines have. I also find her acting a little stiff at times. But she was such a fierce, independent Christine, and as I said in another review, the fact that she was always fighting the Phantom actually made their chemistry more intense. At the end of the day though, I couldn't take my eyes off her.
Kaley Ann Voorhees - Note that this is based mostly off the Broadway videos of her. I do love Kaley Ann Voorhees as Christine; I think technically she ranks higher than Picerno on my favorites. Her voice is a bit generic, but in terms of acting she had such a fighter spirit, yet was amazingly responsive to her co-actors too. I think Picerno gets an edge because I actually got to see how she did opposite Jonathan Roxmouth's Phantom, and because I just found her take more unique. But Kaley Ann Voorhees is a very close second.
Claire Lyon - Again, this is based off an older World Tour video of Claire Lyon (also note how the ladies with videos are ranked higher, which is just an unfortunate bias). Claire Lyon's Christine was innocent, girlish, and very young, a more conventional take than Voorhees and Picerno above (and more so than her alternates, Emilie Lynn - who was thoughtful and passionate - and Kristi Holden - who was reserved, dreamy, and mysterious). That being said, I think she has my favorite voice among the six here, classical without being operatic, strong but with light undertones. She also looked gorgeous in wig and costume.
Caitlin Finnie - As an Asian-American I wish I could see Finnie's Christine, but alas. That being said, I liked what I heard of her. Vocally she's probably a second or third favorite, maybe less classical-sounding than Picerno or Lyon, but still a lovely, strong voice, lighter and sweeter than theirs. Her interpretation also sounds similar to Claire Lyon's, very joyful and youthful. She also looks an absolute sweetheart in photos.
Clara Verdier - In terms of acting, Verdier again seems to lean closer to Claire Lyon and Caitlin Finnie, a wide-eyed, naive, innocent Christine, maybe a little more terrified. Unfortunately, I did not care that much for her voice, which tended to be kind of nasal and a heavy on the vibrato, and occasionally wavered or got really shrill. It's not the worst voice I've ever heard, and I do think she got better as her run went on, but the ladies above were all better singers in my opinion.
Megan Ort - I'm sorry, Megan Ort, I just really did not like your voice. It made me think of this review I read a long time ago, for a completely different Christine, that said, "I think her voice is more vibrato than tone". Because yeah, that's basically Megan Ort's voice, to the point where it was hard to get a sense of anything else about her singing, or acting for that matter. Also, while it's not her fault, the only audio of her is not great quality, which only made it harder to form an opinion. So I'm sorry Megan Ort, but you're at the bottom. Maybe her acting was better, I don't know.

I'm sorry to bother you, but I've read a couple of widower!kagome fics, but I can't the one I'm looking for. I was wondering if you would be willing to compile a rec list for a widowed Kagome, since I would love to see if I can find that fic I read, and maybe find some new ones too. The one I'm looking for had Kagome marry Seehomaru after Inuyasha died, because Reasons (reasons mostly being they were single parents). But I'd be open to just about anything along those lines.
Thank you for your time. I appreciate it! ♡♡♡
No bother at all, my dear! Here’s some that I could find and so sorry to have kept you waiting for so long, RL has been busy!

Part 37: Gertrude For The Win
The Magnus Archives was a horror podcast. It is now completed. Many of the show’s mysteries were never explained on the show. I intend to explain them. Spoilers for the show, but also spoilers if you wanna solve these mysteries yourself.
This is the last post in the series. It’s not gonna make sense unless you’ve read Part 11, Part 20, Part 21 and Part 33.
Cracked Foundation is apparently about Anya Vilette, a cleaning woman from a parallel universe. She goes to clean the house on Hill Top road in her universe, but ends up getting transported to the universe of the Magnus Archives.
Anya Vilette sounds a lot like Anne Willet. I believe they are the same woman. And no, I don’t mean Anya is Anne from another universe. Anya is from the Magnus universe. Her memories of another universe are false.
Who gave her the false memories? Agnes. Agnes is connected with Hill Top Road and an avatar of the spiral, and the spiral often makes false memories. When Annie traveled back in time, it resulted in there being two Annie’s. Agnes messed with the mind of one of them, making her forget who she was. Anya’s memories contain bits of truth, like the name being similar. I guess there are limits to how much Agnes can twist someone’s memories.
Anya says she had a sort of vision of the tree on Hill Top Road grabbing her. The tree is made by Agnes, and Agnes is the one messing with her mind. So sort of true, but not quite.
Anya says the tree has eight arms. And later says eight spindly arms come up from the crack and grab her. Eight arms like a spider. So it seems the tree is of the Web. But the tree is not of the Web, it was made to trap something of the Web. Again sort of true, but not quite.
In The New Door, Helen says that the door handle to Michael’s door was warm. Quote from Anya from Cracked Foundation about the door handle on the basement door: “I remember the little handle was warm. I don’t know if that’s just my memory playing tricks on me, but I do remember that.”
So the warm door handle is a clue that this is some Spiral shit. And in the very next sentence there is another clue when Anya talks about her memories playing tricks on her.
Anya claims she’s traveled back in time a couple of weeks. Anne was a time traveler, so again a bit of truth to her memories.
Anya says she can’t find her favorite coffee shop. Agnes did have a favorite coffee shop she visited for years. That inspired her when she made up fake memories for Anya.
Anya says “They said I should come and talk to you. A few people did. People I thought I knew, but they were different.” And “I’ve tried to talk to my friends about it. Those of my friends I can find, but they seem distant, like they don’t really know me.” Who are these friends?
I think the friends are some combination of Agnes, Gertrude and Gantulga. Or maybe Gantulga disguised as various people. They were never Anya’s friends, she just has fake memories of them being her friends. And why are they telling her to go to the Magnus Institute and make a statement? To trick Annabelle and the Web. Annabelle listens in on John, so she would have heard this statement.
Gertrude and Agnes want the Web to think the reality rift can be used to travel to other dimensions. But it can’t. When the Web went into the crack in reality, it thought it would spread to many other universes. But instead it got nowhere. The Web was destroyed along with the other fears.
Why did Agnes choose Annie as her victim? First because Annie is evil and Agnes would prefer to not harm an innocent. Second, because there already is another Annie. If Agnes had chosen another victim, people might have figured out that victim was the same as a missing person.
In Vampire Killer Trevor says “...I’ve always had a kind of uncanny knack for guessing people’s ages. People will come up to me on the street and ask me to guess their age, and I’ll tell them and most of the time they’ll be shocked when I get it right."
There are two ways of interpreting this. First that most of the time he gets it right. Or second, he is always right, and most of the time people are shocked. I believe the second interpretation is right. I think he has a power to help him with Hunting. If he sees someone that looks like a normal man but is only a couple of years old, it's a monster. Same if it's hundreds of years old.
The only time we hear Trevor estimate someone's age is in Children of the Night. He says the homeless woman filled with spiders was about 40. Given Trevor’s age guessing power I think this is a clue that the woman’s age is important. I think the woman is Annie.
In 2006 Ivo talks with Annie and estimates she is in her fifties. (It is pretty rare we get the age of characters in the show. We get Annie’s age because it’s important.)
In January 2009 Trevor meets the homeless woman and says she is in her forties.
22 April 2009 Anya makes her statement.
So the Annie Ivo talks with is the older version from the future. And given that she is around a decade older than the other version she probably time traveled quite a lot. Not just the three years when she took Father Burroughs back in time. She probably traveled back and forth several times to get things just right and get Burroughs and Ivo at Hill Top Road at the same time.
Agnes attacks the younger version of Annie and messes with her mind. Makes her forget who she is. Annie ends up a homeless person. That’s why the homeless woman is full of spiders, Annie is a Web avatar. And that’s why a Web avatar is so pathetic, just using her powers to get a place to sleep in homeless shelters. Later Agnes gives Annie fake memories and sends her to the Magnus institute.
In This Old House Annabelle’s statement is about Eowa, a Saxon from long ago. He built a house where Hill Top Road would later be. He was tormented by one of the fears. Annabelle says Eowa’s name, face and taste of fear lingers after centuries. But she’s not sure which of the fears tormented him. Then Eowa finds himself somewhere else, where the Mercian’s had pushed further. Annabelle thinks he was transported to an alternate universe. She’s wrong.
The fear that was tormenting Eowa was the Spiral. The Spiral was messing with Eowa’s memories, making him remember that the world was different. But he was always in the same world. The Web misunderstood and thought there existed a crack to other worlds. There never was.
All the weird effects of the crack described This Old House fits with the Spiral. Air slightly thinner, lights slightly dimmer, slight chill in summer, unsettling warmth in winter, vibrant fungus, dull flowers. All could be the Spiral suggesting something is wrong.
The grain of the wood of Eowa’s house gets warped. Trees are a symbol of the Spiral, so warped wood fits.
The Spiral influence gets more obvious with Geoffrey Neckham. Strange draughts shifted his candle flame. Gentle murmurs that almost sound like voices. Thinking you maybe are hearing voices makes you question your sanity. Geoffrey even finds a new room in his house. Weird architecture is a Spiral specialty.
So the Web enacted a ritual to widen the crack in reality, manipulating avatars to fight at Hill Top Road. The ritual sorts of work. A crack appears, but one that can only be used for time travel. Traveling to other worlds was never possible.
In Doomed Voyage who ordered Gantulga to find the camera? The explosions that killed the captain and supposedly killed Salesa is a clue. Who likes to fix problems with explosions? Gertrude. Via time travel she knew Gantulga would replace Salesa. She hired Gantulga and arranged the explosion to fake the death of Salesa/Gantulga.
Maybe she brought a camera lens with her to repair the camera to test it. Maybe when the camera started working, the captain saw that Salesa was Gantulga. Maybe that was what he was trying to explain when he talked about betrayal. But due to the shrapnel in his head he didn’t make much sense.
Gertrude wants Annabelle to have the camera. The camera allows Annabelle to kidnap Martin without John immediately knowing where Annabelle is. I think there was a timeline (or several) where Annabelle didn’t have the camera. Where she came for Martin and John just smote her. So Gertrude or Agnes had to go back in time and fix things.
In Ignorance Gantulga said he hopes that if Annabelle ever wrecks his oasis, that she has the courtesy of killing him first. And Annabelle obeys his wishes and kills him when she takes the camera. Why does Gantulga say that, if he’s in on Gertrude’s plan to destroy the powers? Seems like he would only suffer torture for a few days until the plan succeeded.
In Parting John realizes Annabelle has the camera. He checks to see if Salesa is dead, which he is. Quote from John: “Yes. I checked. I guess she liked him enough to do that for him before she stole [the camera].” Note the phrasing. John guesses Annabelle killed Salesa. John didn’t check how Salesa died, only if he’s dead. John doesn't realize Salesa died years ago from drowning.
I think there was a timeline where Annabelle didn't kill Gantulga. John checks to see if Salesa is dead, confirming he is. Then later he talks with Martin and Martin says Salesa is alive. John realizes something is fishy, Gertrude’s plan is ruined somehow. So Gertrude or Agnes goes back in time and fixes things. Gantulga sacrifices his life to defeat the powers.
In I Guess You Had To Be There Lynne gives a statement about a burning ghost. Later Lynne shows up as one of the people rescued by Georgie and Melanie, though she has forgotten her name and calls herself Celia. From a storytelling point of view, what’s the point of having Lynne show up again? It doesn’t add anything obvious to the plot.
Helen tries to eat Lynne. Why do Helen care about Lynne?
I think the burning ghost Lynne saw was not a ghost, but rather Agnes. In Lynne’s statement she didn’t interact with the burning woman much, just went back to sleep. I think she did interact with Agnes, maybe talked to her. This choice gave Agnes power over Lynne. Agnes makes Lynne forget that she talked to Agnes or whatever. But Agnes now has the power to influence Lynne when she’s in the tunnels.
Helen must have realized Lynne was influenced by Agnes and tried to sabotage Agnes’ plan.
Lynne in the one that tells John that Annabelle took Martin. Since Annabelle has the camera John couldn’t use his powers to know that. I think there was a timeline when John didn’t know Annabelle had Martin and things went differently. Maye John went back and killed Elias without finding Martin and talking with Annabelle? Whatever happened Gertrude or Agnes went back in time and fixed things. Agnes influenced Lynne to warn John.
In the Librarian when John leaves Leitner to smoke a cigarette, Leitner talks, apparently to no one: “I’m not sure you would have liked him, you know. He’s paranoid enough. But I don’t think he’s got the stomach for it.”
I think Leitner was talking to Gertrude. He knew she was alive. Maybe he thought Gertrude would listen to the tape one day. Or maybe Gertrude was in a nearby room, listening in on the conversation.
Why did Leitner need Gertrude’s files on the Unknowing if Gertrude was there? Maybe there was something in the files Gertrude couldn’t remember. Or maybe Gertrude tricked Leitner. Maybe she told Leitner to rescue John from not-Sasha and then talk to John. Maybe she knew Elias was going to kill Leitner, and she needed that to happen, so John could get the Hunt scar from Daisy. Gertrude wanted Elias' ritual to succeed, it was needed to trick the Web.
During the apocalypse Gertrude and Agnes probably hid in the tunnels under the Archives.
So in conclusion: Gertrude destroyed the fears. The end.

The Year So Far Book Ask
I was tagged by @magpie-trove and @madamescarlette. Thank you, ladies! This was hard, but fun!!!
1. Best book you have read in 2021 so far?
It would be absolutely impossible to name the Best, but some highlights are: The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (a grand mansion mystery like a mashup of Knives Out and the 1860s love triangle from The Vampire Diaries), The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer (with the most vivacious and competent heroine I have ever read), The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert (scary fairytale done right), Therese by Dorothy Day (the best way to get to know Zelie, Louis, Therese, and all her sisters - so many new saintly friends!!), The Abolition of Man by C.S. Lewis (wondrously clear and common-sensical), and The Outline of Sanity by G.K. Chesterton (I tripped and fell into distributism).
2. Best sequel you have read in 2021 so far?
Either Have His Carcase by Dorothy Sayers or Theft of Sunlight by Intisar Khanani!
3. A new release you want to check out?
I want to read A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik, which isn’t exactly newly released per se.  And The Witness for the Dead by Katherine Addison!  I need to reread The Goblin Emperor first, though.
4. Most anticipated book release of the second half of the year?
Tumblr media
But seriously. If you think I find out about the existence of a new book, even one by an author I love, any other way than by physically seeing it on a shelf, you're kidding yourself.
(A google search spurred by a later question revealed that the Inheritance Games sequel is meant to come out in September!! so I’m psyched about that!!!!!)
5. Biggest disappointment?
Maybe How the Multiverse Got Its Revenge by K. Eason, since I enjoyed the first book so much?  Or else, A College of Magics, by Caroline Stevermer, because I adored the first half but the philosophy of the second half hurt my feelings.
6. Biggest surprise?
Probably The Hazel Wood or An Enchantment of Ravens, because these days I am capital-S Shocked, full-on clutching my pearls when a modern fantasy has a truly fairytale ending.  It’s so rare and so wonderful!  Or else Therese, because I don’t tend to like Saint books, and I loved this one.
7. Favourite new author (either new to you or debut)?
Jennifer Lynn Barnes is the undisputed queen of this year!!  Imagine if your favorite CW teen drama was written by somebody who 1) knew how to do clever plot and consistent characterization, 2) cared a lot about both friends and family, and 3) had a PhD in psychology. Now go look through the twenty-plus books that Barnes has written and find it there, waiting for you. Her books are perfect pleasure-reading, I have enjoyed every single one.
8. Favourite new fictional crush?
There’s no contest. It’s Lord Peter Wimsey. (I never said I had good taste in men.) But there is something attractive, isn’t there, about somebody who is incredibly capable but doesn’t take himself too seriously?
9. Newest favourite character?
The aforementioned Grand Sophy, probably.  Reading about her was kind of like watching the Miss Americana Taylor Swift documentary, in that it made me want to be brave.
10. A book that made you cry?
The two that made me cry hardest were rereads (Spinning Silver and Penderwicks in Spring), but The Great Divorce definitely had me weeping.  I cry at lots of things, though.  Chances are, if I’ve recommended it, it probably made me cry.
11. A book that made you happy?
The Ordinary Princess by M.M. Kaye!!
12. Most beautiful book you have bought or received this year?
uhhhh
Tumblr media
Behold, what became of a large chunk of my savings from the year! (They’re beautiful to me)
13. What book do you need to read by the end of the year?
See answer to (12).  But seriously, what I really oughta read by the end of the year is Jennifer the Damned and A Bloody Habit, because I’ve had them since Christmas. Oops.

OBSESSIVE TEACHINGS - DARK!TOM HIDDLESTON
CHAPTER TWO: FOR THE FIRST TIME
SUMMARY: Lynn meets the attractive English teacher, Mr. Tom Hiddleston. WORD COUNT: 3.1k NOTE: it’s 3:00 am but I don’t have a sleep schedule. Enjoy! WARNINGS: dark!tom hiddleston, teacher!tom hiddleston
OBSESSIVE TEACHINGS MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
INSIDE IS HAVOC.
For some idiotic reason, most students somehow forget what classes they signed up for three months ago or lost their schedules (I still wonder how that happens) and thus, the front office is a mess of students asking for theirs, the lines bleeding out into the hall. Given this, getting around to head to the commons will be a mission in and of itself. I'm not hating on all of them. As a freshman I was in the same place, my shaky hands and nervously stuttering voice mirroring the kids that smell brand new. Hopefully, to avoid this debacle again, they'll write the classes down. I guarantee the already exhausted looking receptionists would agree.
I almost want to tell the small, thin girl who wrings her hands 'good luck' but I guarantee she'd faint by the time I open my mouth. Instead, Ellie and I keep walking past the crowd. Poor souls.
It takes a minute or so to reach the commons, the booming echoes of chatting teenagers on their first day back is a sound like no other. The voices create a paved path any newcomer could easily follow. It dawns on me now that this will be the last time I'll hear this sound. I solemnly smile.
"I'm telling you, Dunmer is the better race."
"Only an idiot would spew such ignorant bullshit! Everyone knows Khajiit are the superior race!"
"Says the guy who could pass as a furry."
My eyebrows raise once the familiar voices are heard. Of course, they sit alone and look as normal as ever. My heart dips into my stomach when one of the two glances up and bashfully raises a hand to wave. In his awkward state, his hand barely moves.
Ellie is the first to speak. "What are you guys fighting about now?"
The boy with the long black hair speaks first. "Dumbass over here thinks Dark Elves are the best characters in Skyrim." Gabriel Ahoka is one of the oldest friends I have and if there's anything I've learned from him, it's that he's right the majority of the time. Oh, and he has beautiful hair.
"Because I'm right!" I take a seat next to the self-proclaimed judge. His name is River Adams, and I think I've been in love with him since he told me I reminded him of Hermione Granger back in the fourth grade. I smile in his direction then tuck some hair behind my ear. A nervous twitch that doesn't get past Ellie's ever watchful eyes. I refuse to acknowledge her small smirk. Instead, we both join in on the two dorks' conversation.
Ellie rolls her big brown eyes at them. "I don't see what the fuss is about. You guys take your games too seriously."
Both River and Gabriel audibly gasp at her comment.
"Fine," Gabriel huffs looking in my direction. "What about you, Lynn-ykinz?"
I don't visibly react to his nickname. It's something I've been called for years now. Though I'd like to agree with River, it's something I can't do. "Dunmers—"
"Ha!"
"— are for pussies."
"Ha!" This laugh comes from the boy sitting across from me. Beside me, River makes a small "oh" and lowers his raised fists, his hooray coming to a short and final end. I chuckle at his reaction as I pass Gabriel a solid high five.
"What are your guys' schedules?" River asks a tiny bit of gloom and annoyance coating his words.
Fortunately, most of us are in similar classes and only have to be here for a little over half the day. Due to all of us sticking to the scheduling plan, we all were able to get almost all our required course and electives done. Instead of having seven classes in one day, we all have five. By the time lunch rolls around, we're free the rest of the afternoon, meaning much longer DND matches with the nerds and more gossip and jam times with the only other female in our group.
"So meet up at the library for lunch?" I confirm once more as the morning bell rings, signally to all the student and staff that the first day is about to begin. The three people around me reply in agreement, and we head out. For the first hour of the day as well as the last, we're in different places. I'm not sure where the others are going, but I begin my journey to the library, one of my all-time favorite places.
I walk through the doors and slide over the counter, careful not to be seen but not careful enough. I plop in my seat at the front desk as someone walks up behind me.
"I don't know how many times I have to tell you to go through the gate. It's literally five feet away, Lynn!" I send a humored smile to the woman walking behind me, a rather large stack of books in her arms.
I stand up and begin taking ones off the top. "Five feet of unnecessary effort, in my opinion."
"And playing parkour in the library is?" Mrs. Gibbons says, deadpanning.
"To each their own."
She sighs but then laughs. "How was your summer, kid?"
"Pretty decent." I now have half the stack in my arms, and I follow behind her. "My mom and I went to Arizona for a few days and then Seattle for a week. We didn't have much time, but we drove through somewhere in Canada on the way back just because."
Mrs. Gibbons sets the books down on a cart where there are a couple of rows on the bottom already filled. Taking her lead, I lower my stack to the opposite side and begin placing them side by side. I presume these are outdated and to be sold or given away. "What's in Arizona and Seattle?"
A smile hits my face immediately. "There's a college in Flagstaff with a great writing program. I went on a day trip around the campus. And Seattle is just someplace we wanted to visit."
"That's so good to hear, hon! Are you considering?"
I lean back against the counter right behind me as my mentor continues to shelve books. "It's a little far."
Turning to face me, Mrs. Gibbons send me a confused stare. "I thought you wanted to get away from this god-forsaken state?"
She's right. All I've wanted since my father left was to get out of Missouri (or Misery, if anyone's asking). My mom and I left Maine a long time ago go escape unimaginable horrors, but I wasn't expecting those nightmares to follow me here. The move was negligent in getting us away from memories a selfish prick poisoned and to start new somewhere far away, where no one knows me as the girl with a deadbeat dad. In this small town, everyone knows everything. I'd like to escape, to be a complete stranger to everyone.
But Arizona is a couple of thousand miles away from the place I grew up in, my home. I feel incredibly guilty about considering a college so far away from the woman who has taken care of me on her own since I entered elementary school, who has taught me that voicing my opinion and being honest is valued more than timidity and who told me that no man should ever keep a thumb on me. The other influencers in my life are also staying around here. Ellie has been accepted in a very pretentious private school for the Fine Arts a couple of cities over while River and Gabe are thinking about community college before making the jump into university. While solitude and adventures are what I crave, everyone who keeps my sanity in control is here.
I sigh, crossing my arms. "I do, but... I'm just not sure what I really want. Like, I would kill to get out of here, but what if everywhere is worse?"
"Trust me; there's nowhere worse than southwest Missouri, hon."
Again, she has a point.
I hum in response. There a brief moment of silence as we shelve old, dusty books. "So how was your summer?"
Mrs. Gibbons smile kindly, fawning over memories I doubt. "Richie took two weeks off, and we went Fiji. It was so beautiful. The water is clear, the people are wonderful, and the food– oh my God, the food." I secretly have a small thing for Richard Gibbons, or, as his wife calls him, Richie. This "thing" isn't a crush or infatuation by any means, but when he walks into the library on random occasions, he has a natural gift to swoon anyone he encounters. I've unfortunately fallen victim to his charisma a few times. He's an image of the wealthy 1930's businessman with modern values and beliefs weaved in his fine suits. Mr. Gibbons might be my mother's age, or possibly older, but I have to say, Mrs. Gibbons is quite the lucky woman.
I chuckle at her. "I'm sometimes surprised you haven't filed for early retirement."
"Richie makes quite the cash, but how and I supposed to entertain myself when he's gone ten hours a day and then for weeks on end?" Mrs. Gibbons pauses and looks around her library, then back to me. The growing crows feet wrinkle into a smile. "And besides, I can't leave my favorite kids behind, now can I?"
"I guess you can't," I reply.
Ten minutes later, I'm back at my desk. Well, technically mine, Mrs. Gibbons, and the other kid who helps out during school hours. I've never met them, so I'm not sure who exactly they are. Anyway, the "desk" is a long bar that has a foot-high wall that stretches all the way down to the ends, creating a divider between my computer and a student or faculty member. The top of this divider is flat, forming a plane in which books or arms can be set on. Most of the time, books scatter the top, but since it's the first day, the library is not only spotlessly clean but deadly empty.
That is until someone catches my attention. Sitting at the far side of the desk, I'm able to see who is coming a mile before he steps through the open library doors. This time was no different.
With long, lean legs and a towering height walks in none other than Mr. Tom Hiddleston.
Easily being the hottest teacher of all time, I feel a blush beginning to creep up my cheeks just at the mere sight of him. Apart from his 6'2 figure, he sports tame yet still curly reddish-brown hair, divine enough for the gods, if he isn't one already. Mr. Hiddleston's cheekbones and jawline remind me of razors, which I would feel honored to be cut by. However, his eyes are a color I can't pick out. Because I've never been in close proximity, my guess, from my distance, is green, or maybe blue. The ambiguity makes him all the more interesting. I wonder if he has some long-distance vibe because as soon as I look up to see him, Mrs. Gibbons is right out front— and missing her cardigan. I raise my brows at her from the swivel chair, but her eyes are focused down and away from me. Elbowing her slightly, I nod once, doing a run over of her exposed arms and a little cleavage. Jokingly, she swats my arms and blushes scarlet. I begin to laugh, somehow holding most in when Mr. Hiddleston walks in.
"Hello, Ruby," he smiles softly. As if he wasn't attractive enough, the man has a damn British accent. It's almost as if he's trying to stick out among the hicks. "It's good to see you. How was your summer, darling?"
If her fingers weren't wrapped around the edge of the desk, I guarantee she would have fallen over. Honestly, I would have done the same. "Absolutely marvelous! Fiji is a beautiful place. I imagine you would like it there."
I make the snarky note that she left her husband out of the conversation. Thinking about it, I try to glance over at her left hand to check if anything is missing.
Zoning out the best I could, I file through the library's emails and begin writing down books teachers are requesting. Like usual, the freshmen English teachers ask for The Great Gatsby, and the sophomore teachers need 1984. Due to being taught-in-class books, I scoot back in my chair to make a beeline to the back room and take the note with me, the sticky top staying attached to my fingertips.
"Oh, Lynn?" I hear Mrs. Gibbons call out.
I just entered the back room, so I comically poked my head out. "You called?"
I seem to humor both parties, a smile etched on their face. "Could you get the copies of Of Mice and Men?" My vision glances over to the teacher behind the desk for a short moment. His tall frame leans on the counter, arms crossed on the platform, apparently indicating familiarity and comfort in the room. I catch his stare. I realize now his eyes are in fact blue.
Nodding, I duck back into the room, setting my sticky note to the side. During the time I have to gather the fifteen or so books, I allow my reddening cheeks to cool off by taking long breaths. "Don't be weird, Lynn," I whisper to myself, extending my arms out towards the collection of novels. "He's just a hot teacher. Calm yourself."
Finishing the stack, I wrap my arms around the tower, huffing as I do. I carefully whisk myself towards the open door, making a mental note to go back to my list.
Mrs. Gibbons and Mr. Hiddleston chat among themselves not too far from where I left. Now sitting in her swivel chair, typing away feverishly on her computer, and keeping a conversation going, the librarian doesn't notice my return, though the man across does. He nods in my direction. The simplest gesture is somehow insanely attractive. Mrs. Gibbons looks over her shoulder, sending me a smirk. "Oh, there you are! Thought I lost you."
I fake a small laugh. "I'm surprised I didn't; it's quite the mess back there," I tease, waddling over to the counter. "Where would you like 'em, boss?" I'm not sure who I would refer to, glancing once at Mr. Hiddleston, to Mrs. Gibbons, then back to the stack in my arms.
"Would you mind escorting me to my classroom? I tend to be clumsy at times." With a warm smile, Mr. Hiddleston glances down to Mrs. Gibbons, awaiting her approval.
At that moment, I'm not sure if I would love or hate to go. On the one hand, I get to spend time with Mr. Hiddleston, every horny teenager's dream. On the other, I'm alone with Mr. Hiddleston, someone I've never had a conversation with let alone a 'hello' until minutes ago. Knowing my luck, I will somehow embarrass myself in front of him. It wouldn't be the end of the world since I don't have any of his classes nor do I have classes near his, but God I would feel like a fool for the rest of my life.
But, hey, he's something pretty to look at.
"Yeah, I don't mind. Is that okay, Mrs. Gibbons? I promise I won't bail on you," I say.
The librarian nods her head, fixing her glasses. "Of course, go right ahead! There isn't much to do now anyway. Just make sure you're back before the bell rings."
"Don't worry, Ruby. I won't keep her long," Mr. Hiddleston reassures.
I wouldn't be opposed if you did, I think to myself. The comment makes me blush, even going to my ears. Some reasons how I could be kept late quickly flash by and I find myself wishing I had not taken Mr. Hiddleston's offer. With my skin still burning, I make my way around the front desk as he follows me on the other side. The gate is shut, and due to my arms being preoccupied, I realized I might have to swing it using my hip, nothing too abnormal. I helped out Mrs. Gibbons last year and would do the same thing when my arms were full. However, Mr. Hiddleston was not accustomed to my way of opening the gate. Just as I go to butt it, Mr. Hiddleston reaches out. In an awkward exchange, Mr. Hiddleston's hand, which was aiming to wrap around the gate, collides on my hip instead.
It's nothing terribly exciting but enough to get a gasp and a jealous exchange from Ellie, and damn right I'll take that.
He pauses barely a second before quickly retracting his arm to his side. A blush of the same shade of scarlet cover our cheeks, an awkward laugh bubbling out.
"I'm sorry," I shyly push out.
Shaking his head, now making sure his hand is on the gate, Mr. Hiddleston bashfully looks down and opens up the exit for me. "Don't be, love. It was my fault."
"If you want to be the culprit, be my guest," I reply sassily. I don't want to see if my comment amused him or caused a cringe, so I don't look up. Instead, I look around for something to make our trip easier. "Did you want me to get a cart instead of carrying them up? It's up to you."
Shrugging, Mr. Hiddleston begins taking books from the stack, leaving me with less than half. "I don't mind walking if you don't mind. I missed my morning jog, so I'm trying to compromise the best I can."
I nod and kindly smile, even though my insides and my weak muscles are upset I took on the mission. "Walking it is then. Lead the way!"
Mr. Hiddleston turns on his heel, passing a smile to Mrs. Gibbons. "Thank you for letting me steal your little helper."
"Just return her the way she's leaving," Mrs. Gibbons retorts.
"We'll see," he replies, sending me a smirk and a wink. If the man wanted to turn my knees into jelly, he already succeeded from the first introduction. Now he's just teasing my flustered heart. "Just this way, love," Mr. Hiddleston tells me. I'm too afraid to speak, so I nod, smile, and follow beside him up the staircase.

A/n: Next chapter is out! This one has a lot of setting up of the future plot points, it’ll be fun if y’all can pinpoint it. If the next chapter takes too long, I’ll post more of “The Plot out of context,” if it’s wanted!
Key:
Tater - @a-lonely-tatertot
Lynn - @lesbilynnette
Gray - @silver-snow
Lilah - @tribblemakingalicorn
Cadence - me
Ivy - @imaramennoodle
Molly - @molly-sencen
Farris - @everyonehasthoughts
Speens - @an-absolute-travesty
Holes - @holesinmyfalseconfidence
Connor - @linhammon-roll-bromance101
Panda - @worldwidepandamonium
Meg - @ultralazycreatorfan
Word count: 2,740
Warnings: Nothing makes sense.
“Lynn, can you have the next shipment of the Gatorade sent to my address in Peru?”
“Farris, what did you do now?”
“Nothing!” They grinned nervously.
“I swear if you moved to Peru just so you could buy an alpaca, I will-”
“It’s not that, I swear! Well, not just that. Boss called and said I have to be at the excavation site by tomorrow, that it might be a big break.” Farris scoffed. “As if. Last time, the only thing I found with my metal detector was someone’s Betty Boop keychain.”
“Yeah, I can ship them there,” Lynn sighed, exhausted from a night of getting a deal with the investor and setting prices for the products. “And that’s crazy.”
“I know right?” Farris answered. “Betty Boop? When was this person born, the 1950s?”
“That’s not- yeah, you’re right, Farris.” Lynn changed her sentence halfway through. “Any word back from Panda?”
“Yeah, Panda got back to me. Said that her sign is a Scorpio.”
“What?”
“Exactly, who would’ve thought Panda was-”
“Farris, you were supposed to ask about the chain restaurant idea!” Lynn massaged her forehead. “Why did we agree to be partners?”
“Because I threatened to blackmail you,” they responded, taking a bite out of an apple. “And I did ask about that. The zodiac sign was probably the question I wrote on my arm so I wouldn’t forget.”
“And?”
“She said the chain restaurant idea is a good thing to look into, as soon as we can make a good menu, hire some staff, good prices, nice locations, accessibility, y’know, all that jazz.”
“Because that’s so simple.” Lynn sighed, shuffling through the paperwork that had accumulated within the past week. “Alright, tell you what, I’ll get an artist to make an ad, maybe a social networker, I’ll set up a blog and we get the word out. As soon as you get back from the gig, you call me, alright?”
“Yup,” they agreed. “Oh, and Connor just texted saying he needs your help. I told him to wait ‘til I got back so I could teach him how to properly rollerblade, but the kid’s a madlad.”
“Anything broken?”
“His sanity.”
“Farris.”
“And a lot of furniture.”
“Guess I’ll have to find out for myself, huh?”
“You sure will.”
“Alright, I’m checking in with the supplier. Talk later?”
“Cheerio, mate,” Farris grinned, saluting her before ending the call.
Lynn opened her laptop and emailed her supplier, who had requested to remain anonymous. This was fine though, identities shouldn’t be known when dealing with the black market and pyramid schemes. Lynn was fine with using her real name because of her position as co-founder of Forbidden Incorporated. If she was going to go deviant, she’ll be damned if she didn’t do it with style.
_________
Cadence’s phone buzzed, as an email from a client had just arrived.
“Forks do not work with ice cream,” Tater yelled for the umpteenth time.
Holes clutched their head in a mixture of disappointment and annoyance. “Why would you use a spoon? It’s not soup, you can’t just spoon it out!”
“Then pop it in the microwave for a few seconds, for fu-”
“Crank it down 12 notches,” Molly suggested.
“-for Pete’s sake,” Tater acknowledged Molly. “And didn’t you just eat an entire bag of flamin’ hot Cheetos in one sitting?”
“They were good! And I’m fine,” Molly insisted. “Sure, we’re out of milk, and I have strep throat, but I just took a shower and I don’t think I’m gonna pass out just yet.”
Tater and Holes pulled out a Lysol can, masks, gloves, and a plexiglass barricade within seconds, clearly getting flashbacks from 2020. Cadence wasn’t paying attention, as usual, and kept writing her response to the email.
“Relax,” Molly laughed, clearly not finding it strange that they had those on hand at least a decade later. “I got my antibiotics, it’s not contagious anymore. And hey, good news: I made a questionable decision, and that’s also not contagious.”
They threw the equipment behind them, seemingly into the abyss, and relaxed a bit.
“Ok, now to address the real problem,” Holes started. “Who is Pete and why are we doing everything for his sake?”
“Oh my gods, it’s an expression, Holes,” Tater sighed.
“No, no, Holes, is onto something,” Molly said, grabbing the detective hat Lynn had designed for her and putting it on. “And I intend to find out.”
“Cadence, please make it two against two,” Tater pleaded.
Cadence glanced up from her phone. “What’s happening?”
“Oh my- you know what, I should’ve expected that, considering the Paint Water incident.”
“Ok, the Paint Water Incident was ONE TIME!”
“The what?” Holes looked interested.
“We don’t talk about it,” Cadence chimed in. “Think of it as the Great Gulon Incident of our group.”
“Great,” Holes sighed. “Another mystery. You’re all high.”
“I was fully aware of what I was doing in that incident.”
“Even better,” Holes commented dryly. “Nevermind, I don’t need to know.”
“Besides, there are great puzzles to be solved,” Molly continued enthusiastically. “Onward! We must scavenge for our first clue of Pete’s identity.”
Tater closed her eyes, telling her conscience to shove it for a moment. “Where do we start, Detective?”
Holes raised their eyebrows.
“If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em,” Tater shrugged.
Molly looked at Holes in expectation. “Alright, fine,” Holes caved. “But I’m taking Cadence with us, I’m not going crazy alone.”
“That ship has sailed for both of us,” Cadence commented, not looking up from her phone.
“Yeah, haha, very funny. Let’s check out the corner opposite of the one they’re searching.” Holes paused, waiting for them to be out of earshot. “We don’t have to do anything, just pretend to search, I’ll be watching to make sure they don’t get killed.”
Cadence looked down at the email from her client. A shipping of 500 bottles, and 3,000 containers of newer products. And to Peru? Why had they changed the shipping address? She sighed. It was going to be a long day.
________
Connor’s house was on fire. Connor’s house was on fire. Why was Connor’s house on fire, you ask? Well, if you need to ask, you clearly haven’t met him. Lynn gazed at the sight in front of her tiredly, not knowing how she hadn’t expected this to happen.
Speens was calmly watering the bushes surrounding the house, not giving a second thought about putting out the fire with the water they had.
Lilah appeared beside Lynn, startling her. “Oh, good, you came. Gray has been trying to help Connor stand up for the past 30 minutes, but he’s way too drunk and he keeps refusing to ditch the rollerblades. Oh yeah, and his house is on fire.”
“About that, how’d it happen?”
“He was rollerblading on the stair railings when he fell onto their lamp, which tilted over and fell onto the seance that he was holding earlier in the day so the candles fell onto the hardwood floor, and then he spilled vodka everywhere, and then the flames turned blue, so here we are,” Lilah recounted all in one breath. “It’s kinda beautiful to be honest.”
“Beautiful isn't the word I would use to describe it,” Speens called. “It’s interfering with the plants. Well, except for Suzy, she’s a stubborn one. She wouldn’t burn, and believe me, I tried to make her.”
“I believe you,” Lynn said, quite understandingly. She had seen Speens around on the Deep Web, but had respected their secret. They all had secrets, after all.
Lynn walked inside where the hose was already uncoiled and ready to be used. Connor, however, was clinging to Gray’s leg. “NO, DON’T USE A HOSE, THE HOUSE DOESN’T LIKE SHOWERS.”
“Connor, the house is an inanimate object, it does not care,” Gray told him, trying to get control of the fire in the kitchen.
Connor gasped. “How DARE you talk to Cynthia like that?! She deserves better!” He crawled over to a wall that was, inevitably, about to burn down, and he stroked it. “You’re gonna be okay, sweetie. Don’t listen to the mean person, they’re just a hater.”
Gray shook their head and sighed. “Hey, Lynn. Can you increase the water pressure?”
Lynn did so, much to Connor’s dismay. To make up for it, Lynn handed Connor a piece of a floorboard that had undoubtedly been broken into pieces when they fell off of the stairs. He hugged the floorboard close to his face, crying happy tears, not thinking about the possibility of splinters. Lynn was confused, but had a feeling she would need him as an ally soon, and this was the best way to start.
Lynn babysat Connor as Gray put out the fire. When they had finished, none of the house had fallen down. It was weaker, and very charred, but somehow it hadn’t fallen.
Gray reached behind them and pulled out a ladder and a blueprint covering the new design of Connor’s structurally damaged home. Everyone had become acquainted with such things being summoned when needed. “Alright, I got the materials in the car, but we need to fix this house, er, Cynthia, up.”
“Renovating a house, huh,” Lynn muttered. “Better than spending all day dealing with paperwork. But if I’m going to help you and Connor, I’m going to need both of your help. So, how about an offer?”
Gray narrowed their eyes. “What would that offer entail?”
“Well, for you, Gray, I’d need help renovating a certain building. We’re talking about new elevators, knocking down walls, putting up new ones, new furniture, everything businessy. As for you, Connor,” Lynn paused, waiting for him to look at her. “I need a spy. You don’t have to be sober, but you have to keep them talking alright?”
“I’m feelin’ woozy,” Connor giggled.
“Can you overhear what people say and report back to me when you hear something important despite the wooziness?”
“Yup, and I can be a skater dude, too,” he grinned goofily. “We can all live our dReAmS.”
“Well, I’m in,” Gray said, helping Connor lay down. “I’ll certainly need a team for that building of yours, but I’m in. I can’t repair a house on my own anyway.”
Lynn nodded. A team, huh? For that she needed customers, crazy, loyal, and determined enough to support her products. She had a few people in mind who might be able to deliver.
______
“Meg, you got the snacks?” Ivy called over her shoulder, setting up the gaming consoles. They had finally stopped procrastinating and organized a group hangout between Speens, Ivy, and Meg, making it a game night. Ivy brought the video games, Speens brought the hands-on games, and Meg was in charge of snacks.
“Yup,” she smiled, wheeling in a wagon of junk food. “Anything you could want, it’s here. What games you got?”
“Rocket League, Mario Kart, only the best of the best. How about you, Speens?”
“Uno, Jenga, Connect Four, Scrabble, Twister, Monopoly, you name it, I got it. Where do you want to start? Virtual or hands on?”
“Virtual, I guess,” Meg decided. “Haven’t played in a while, ever since a pigeon yeeted my controller out of a window.”
Ivy tilted her head, asking for an explanation.
“T’was like a message from an angry god,” Meg said wistfully, resting her head in her hands. “A god who preached ‘live, laugh, yeehaw, and stop playing The Last of Us 2 because it’s a trash game.’”
“Are you on drugs?” Ivy looked sincere.
“I mean, I wrote ‘gay’ and ‘yeehaw’ all over my dad’s truck, and later that night I had a dream about falling in love with the sister of this prince that I had to stop from destroying everything at exactly 12 AM, but I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for.”
“No, that answered my question,” Ivy said, setting up the board out while the sunset shined brightly onto their faces in the cool evening light.
Meg chose the monster truck token. “Refresh my memory, how do you play again?”
“It’s literally just capitalism for kids, and I am above you mere mortals,” Speens helped, choosing the rubber duck token, and taking a Snickers and KitKat from Meg’s snack wagon. What happened next was ungodly. Speens opened the KitKat bar and ate it. Without. Separating. The Bars.
Ivy reeled back in horror, and Meg hid behind her, terrified of the scene going on before their eyes.
“What?” Speens finished the chocolate and wiped their hands with a tissue. “Are we going to play this game or not?”
“Oh no,” Ivy said, pulling her hair slightly. “You don’t get to gloss over that. The Forbidden Spicy Gatorade is for all of us to share and enjoy once we get our hands on it, but you never, never, disrespect the KitKat bar.”
Speens scoffed. “You’re really going to dwell on that?”
“Going to dwell- I can’t even-“ Ivy took a deep breath to steady herself.  “I will not allow this in my house. So you know what? Let’s raise the stakes. We need this Monopoly game to be a game-changer.”
Speens narrowed their eyes. “What are you saying? You’re betting something?”
“Yup. If I win, you have to wear a hoodie that says “I love Holes” and you have to help me with a plan of mine. If you win, I’ll help you get revenge on someone.”
“And if I win,” Meg continued. “Y’all owe me a lifetime’s supply of fro-yo and you both have to agree to each other’s bet deals.”
“Deal from my end,” Ivy pitched in, selecting the top hat token. The other two agreed, and the game commenced.
By 3 o’clock in the morning, Ivy had been in jail 17 times, and Speens had one hotel left. With a few lucky turns, Speens was bankrupt.
Ivy smirked, having a good feeling about this. “I call upon the power of the almighty Top Hat!”
“Oh, don’t look so smug, Ives,” Speens scowled, opening their suitcase of vodka and pouring their version of two shots. “You can still lose to Meg, and she bet a lot.”
“True, but in reality, would you rather lose to Meg or me?” Ivy flashed a grin. “The hoodie’s in my room, by the way. Don’t worry- it’s washed!”
Sighing, Speens went to retrieve the hoodie. A deal’s a deal, after all. When they returned, they looked ready to kill someone. They wore a baggy bright pink hoodie with “I Love Holes!” spelled in purple glitter. “You better win this, Meg.”
Meg stuffed a hand in her bag of snacks and nodded. Ivy’s turn was next, and it brought Meg down to $100. Speens muttered something under her breath and waved her hand in an elaborate motion. Seconds later, a loud crash was heard, followed by the breaking of glass and the sound of spraying water.
Ivy frowned. “What was that?”
“Go check,” Speens suggested.
Ivy looked out of the kitchen window to see… no window. The top of a fire hydrant had come bursting off of its mounted position and had crashed through her window. “No!” She frantically ran to the street to assess the damage from outside.
“Well, what are you waiting for?” Speens stirred their beverage casually. “She’s not looking, you can win this.”
“Even if it means you always have to pay for my fro-yo?”
Speens shrugged. “Beats having her win. Besides, I’ll eat just as much fro-yo as you do if I’m paying for it.”
Meg went through the cards quickly, ignored whatever magic just went on. With a lifetime supply of such an other-worldly snack, who wouldn’t? Meg found her card just in time, as Ivy came back in, looking surprisingly calm.
“I boarded up the window, insurance will cover it,” she explained. “Your turn, Meg.”
Meg pulled the card she had placed on top of the pile and made her move. She had done it. Ivy was bankrupt. Not only that, but she was going insane. She flipped the board, sending everything tumbling into the depths of her house.
“How did you- you had no chance-”
“Breath, princess,” Speens joked. “I know what’ll take your mind off of this: some good old fashioned revenge on an old rival of mine. Whaddaya say, pal?”
“This day could not get any worse,” Ivy whined.
Except it could. And it did.
The electricity cut out and Ivy let out an ear-piercing screech.

MARJAN
I have to admit I haven’t had much time to read lately. I’m at home but still working, and my workload hasn’t lessened in the least. Also, I have children to look after, meals to make, laundry to do and a house to keep clean. So life in lockdown is really busy for me. Any spare time I have is spent with my hubby and children.
All I’ve managed to read recently is a few lovely one-shots: Soup for Sanity by @caramelcoffeeaddict, The Hot/Beautiful Barista by bolt_of_fate, OMG They Were Zoommates, Words, Words, Words and Just Keep Passing (The Open Window) by @hazelandglasz, Missed Opportunity by @holdingdaylight. Oh, and Kidnap My Heart by misskaterinab. All of them just the right length to read during meal times :-)
But there are tons of fics on my to-read list. Let me share a few with you...
@jayhawk-writes and @teddyshoney have written this fascinating verse in which they are exploring any and all versions of Klaine - finding each other “In every lifetime”. I can’t wait to dive in and enjoy this :-)
Also, the GPBB fic exchange writers have started posting their stories, and they sound AMAZING. Do check them out!
And right now, the story I’m going to read during my lunch break is Escape to Oakstone by dontbefancy.

HKVOYAGE
Honestly, every spare moment I have is spent replying to library asks or writing. The only fics I’m reading are some quarantine related, specifically Six Feet Apart by @kuhlaine, Ride or die by Mindfilledwithletters, Zoom Mates by @gleefuldarrencrissfan, and Cornelia Street by @blurglesmurfklaine. However, when I become less busy, here are a few on my list to read.

Text
a letter to bojack & co.
first of all, i'm still mad at you for releasing your final episodes ON MY BIRTHDAY THIS YEAR. (january 31.) but i'm also glad because it gave me something to look forward to in life. so i want to say: thank you. thank you for being the character you were. thank you for your transparency. thank you for your ability to be unashamed about who you are. thank you for showing me (and all of us) your true colors.
thank you for making me feel like i'm not alone.
you reminded me a lot of myself, in different ways. i hated facing my fears and confrontation. (i'm still scared, but i'm working on it one day at a time.) i hate parts of myself stemming from a fucked up, abusive household i grew up in that was loveless. i've never related to multiple characters on a show that basically reflects an inner monologue in my psyche.
thank you for finally holding yourself accountable and giving me hope to do so.
i fucked up a lot. i saw myself in your coping mechanisms; in princess carolyn's emotions and how strongly she feels them; in todd's selflessness and mr. peanutbutter's endless loyalty. i saw myself in your escapism and fear of facing the unknown, and the truth. from the beginning of the first season all the way 'til the very end. i carried you and your friends, your struggles––everything you dealt with. i saw myself in the way you fucked up relationships and how you took them for granted, which forced me to look at myself and my *own* coping mechanisms throughout the seasons as you moved on in life. you helped me get through two close friends' overdoses when sarah lynn died. they happened three months before season 3 dropped. i remember sitting in my room, hysterically sobbing knowing that as painful as it was, nothing could comfort me more than watching you and your own mishaps.
you forced me to grow up as a person, and i could never thank you enough for it. i'm so glad you didn't die. for the longest time, i wanted to do just that: die. escape from the hardships of life knowing that every single action i took was scrutinized by everyone around me; the only difference between you and me is that you're a celebrity. i'm not. i aggressively analyze every word spoken, action taken by the people around me for fear of rejection. my mom's similar to yours but she never had the upbringing she did. decades of unresolved trauma and violence helped me build walls i thought were impenetrable.
but you helped me break them down. you helped me realize that life is worth living after all.
i have bipolar disorder. i've struggled with suicidal thoughts for almost twenty years. (i just turned 28.) i didn't have any hope that things would get better. i was scared of accountability for fear of being reprimanded, judged, punished and truly left alone (the way i thought i was in my head this whole time). i've seen you fuck up royally for the first five seasons, but you're not entirely terrible, bojack. you were deeply misunderstood. i realize you're not dead, but the show is. and i'm glad. because the last season showed me that if you can face your demons, face the consequences of your actions and live, then maybe i can too. i don't feel afraid of being held accountable anymore. i don't feel afraid of people. i don't want to be a people pleaser anymore; that shit gets super exhausting. i'm currently crying while writing this letter, but it's a cathartic cry. the ending was perfect. absolutely perfect. i need to immortalize your show somehow. for my own sake and sanity.
thank you for giving me a reason to keep going. thank you (to the entire staff) for creating a show that resonates with me so deeply that none of these words quantify my admiration for this show. thank you for your brilliant quips, wits, and inspirational words that inspired me to start writing again. thank you for being a source of comfort i can use at night. thank you for depicting some of my deepest, darkest thoughts and secrets while reminding me that it's human nature to err. it's okay to fuck up; we all do. it's not okay to hurt other people, but we're human. we're not perfect. and there's no such thing as perfection. all we can do is try to be good. and to do as best we can every day.
i've re-watched you go through your entire saga at least twice now. you've pulled me through some of the darkest times in my life. you all did. you, princess carolyn, diane, todd, and mr. peanutbutter. i'm glad you were held accountable for the FUCKED UP things you did, but i'm glad things were resolved with everyone. and i'm glad you were brave enough to face the world knowing that you did what you did, and that things will still be okay. i'm not scared of being held accountable anymore. and i'm not scared of going forward anymore.
my relationship with my mom is the same as yours. "free churro" really hit me hard. but i'm so grateful. thank you for reminding me that life is a journey, and that progress is a parabola. sometimes we have to fall down in order to get back up. and i will carry you with me wherever i go. know that the first tattoo i ever get will be related to you. i wish you were real so i could hug you in real life and thank you. so, to the staff: thank you all so much. thank you for upholding accountability and being as brilliant as you are. thank you. thank you. (and THANK YOU FOR ALL THE PUNS AND REFERENCES!!! highly appreciated.) thank you, princess carolyn, for showing that it is okay to let go and let people take care of you and have it be okay. thank you, diane, for showing that it is okay to accept help and highlighting the importance of mental health. thank you, todd, for showing me that it's okay to stand up for myself and that boundaries are essential to growth. thank you, mr. peanutbutter, for always being there no matter what happens. thank you, bojack, for everything you've helped me get through.
thank you.
also, tell mr. peanutbutter we pronounce hosuton street "house-ten" here in nyc.
to quote one of my favorite lyrics of all time: "i am gonna make it through this year if it kills me." ("this year" - the mountain goats)
- kad. nyc.
