Kinda agree with your rating on the Upper Moons! Honestly I have a hard time ranking gyokko hantengu and kaigaku bc I don't. Particularly care for any of them?? Idk they're all kinda blah in my head (no hate to any fans of them tho. You do you boo)
Kaigaku reminds me of a tiktok eboy in all the worst ways. He has vibes and they're kinda off for me
Anyway I know you are a lady tamayo lover (as we all should be). How do you feel about some of the other Demons? (yushiro, rui, nakime, and enmu are the only ones that come to mind)
-🦝
yeah, gyokko is gross, like i’ve read his backstory and i’m not even surprised lmao. kaigaku is my #1 public enemy to me also bc of what he has done ( i won’t say too much since i don’t wanna spoil anything, but if you’re read and finished the manga you can guess what i’m talking about ). for hantengu i honestly just care about for aizetsu >_< he’s my fav clone alright.
LADY TAMAYO MY BELOVED !!!!
for others demons,
yushiro : i like him, i love how he genuinely cares who tamayo ^_^ and i also find him funny hehe
rui : uh, i’m super sad due to his backstory ): but what he did to other demons was wrong anyway, so um mixed feelings i guess
mama spider demon : she was so sweet and i felt super sorry for her. her death scene was truly majestic ngl, aesthetic and all. i’m glad tanjiro didn’t hurt her in the end <3
nakime : her backstory was interesting, she’s super cool and i find her blood demon art amazing
enmu : he’s so gender >_< but he also scares me sometimes because well, muzan opened his stomach and he was literally there enjoying it ??? ew, but he’s cool in some way
kyogai ( drum demon ) : he was super cute >_< i got touched by his backstory ngl and when he got emo bc tanjiro showed respect for his work aaaa *sobs*
and i can’t think of anyone else atm … lol

for enmu, kyogai, and tanjiro? ^^
Hi hi El!! Thank you so much for the ask!
Tumblr media
💌 - What pet names does your F/O use for you the most? Which pet names do they like being referred to with the most?
Enmu likes to call me: little daydreamer, sleepy head and my dear!! And I like to call him: my love, handsome and darling!
Kyogai likes to call me: princess/prince/princet, my muse and beloved! And I like to call him: dear, sweetheart and honey!
Tanjiro likes to call me: ma'am/sir/mix, sweetie and pretty/handsome/cute! And I like to call him: sunshine, little darling and baby boy!
🌸 - What's their favorite season? Are there any seasonal activities in that time that they like doing with you?
Enmu really likes winter, the cold is just very inviting to get comfy in bed! He also enjoys how cloudy it gets, because that means that we're also able to go out during the daytime!!
Kyogai really enjoys fall, he says the dancing of the leaves and the whispers of the wind give him a lot of inspiration! The colder weather also gives him an excuse to be more affectionate, so we can "warm each other up" as he puts it
Tanjiro loves summer and spring! Spring can be a bit tough for him, because of how many flowers bloom, it's a lot of different smells and it can overwhelm him, so he usually prefers summer because it's still warm and bright!
💫 - What's their biggest wish connected to the future of your relationship?
Enmu wants both of us to become stronger and eventually get everything we've ever dreamed of, with the rest of the world at our feet. Just me, him and father as the strongest family in the world
Kyogai just wants a calm life where he can actually be himself, with no fear of being judged or humiliated. He hopes that I won't become distant as I get more powerful
Tanjiro hopes to go back to normalcy if he's able to. He wants to be able to have a family, with no fear of what may be creeping in the night. He just wants me and Nezuko to be there for him until the last of his peaceful days
😳 - What about your F/O do you find the most attractive?
Enmu's eyes, hands and voice are absolutely perfect and I adore all of them!! His very existence is beautiful and I couldn't adore him more!
Kyogai's teeth, eyes and claws are genuinely gorgeous to me! I really enjoy how gentle he is with me because of it all, he holds me like I'm made of glass, it's adorable to witness
Tanjiro's smile, voice and personality tied my heart into a knot as soon as I met him. He's gentle, kind and polite and it makes him incredibly beautiful to me

I mean, on a positive side, he'd 100% read the poems out
Probably needs a little engoradgement but he'd do it
Tanjiro's gonna walk into the building but he can also leave completely unscathed because Kyo's too busy reading out poems to his lover
and then he’d still have to beat the shit out of Inosuke cause boar man is trying to hurt his sister
BUT THATS SO CUTE AAAAAAA

There was something that Tanjiro asked Master Ubuyashiki to do for him before he left to board the Mugen Train with his friends and sister who was a demon. But because of his health, his beloved wife Amane had to take care of the task for him.
Not that the white haired woman minded, she would do anything for her Kagaya and the Demon Slayer Corps.
Which is why she was standing outside a mansion in the middle of the woods on a beautiful day. Around the side of the house, she took note of eight gravesites, each relatively new and not tarnished by the weather. They could have only been a few months old.
She took a deep breath and stepped inside the estate, also noticing the thin layer of dust that covered everything.
Amane Ubuyashiki wandered around the house, checking each room for what she was searching for, but also keeping her bearings in case she had to escape back into the daylight. The windows were all blocked out, leaving no natural light to seep in.
She came to a rather large room that looked like a monster had rampaged through it. The walls, floors and ceiling were covered in giant slashes, dried blood speckled the mats and scattered across the floor were pages and pages of paper.
Amane knelt down next to the papers and picked them up, reading over each one and tucking them into a bag she had brought with her. Some pages had mediocre poetry scrawled across them, others had beautifully written sonnets that tugged at her heartstrings. She did not fail to notice that each of the pages were signed by a single author.
She returned to her husband’s estate within the next two days with her bag filled with the pages she found in the mansion in the woods. With her children, Amane began to assemble the pages into a book, ordering the poems by the dates scribbled in the corners of the papers and then by length.
By the time they all finished, Tanjiro had returned from his adventure aboard the Mugen Train and needed a pick me up.
Amane and Kagaya sought out the young boy and summoned him to their mansion, giving him kind smiles and warm tea to sip as their children brought out the leather bound book.
Instantly, his red eyes lit up in curiosity. “What’s this?”
Ubuyashiki chuckled. “My wonderful wife and children complied the pages from the mansion like you asked while you were away. I hope this is to your liking.”
Tanjiro took the book and flipped through the pages eagerly. His feathers melted into a kind smile, but his eyes looked sad. “Thank you, Oyakata-Sama… I don’t know what to say.”
“If you would allow us, I would not mind having those poems published for everyone to see. They are masterfully written if I do say so myself.” Amane poured him more tea.
Tanjiro’s smile only grew. “Yes! Yes please!”
~~~~~ “Ugh, I can’t believe we have to read poetry for literature class! It’s just a bunch of old people complaining about their lives!” Sumihiko groaned and slapped the book down on his desk.
His sister Kanata giggled as she examined the book over. “Come on, this one might be good. I’ve read some of these books in junior high with Hashibira, this guy wrote some really good stuff.”
Sumihiko shrugged and picked the textbook back up. “Yeah sure whatever. ‘Poems and Short Stories’, by Kyogai.” he read out loud. “This should be good.”
Since KnY is Ending Soon...
Tumblr media
Adding on to the recent news about Kimetsu no Yaiba ending in May, according to a certain Jump editor, Gotouge had to end the manga quickly in order to return home due to family reasons (and therefore she could not stay in Tokyo being a mangaka for long).
Tbh I am quite saddened by the news thinking that there might not be a new series or sequel after Kimetsu No Yaiba. Nevertheless I would like to appreciate and thank Gotouge for creating this amazing series. I have been following the series since 2017 and it has brought me so much joy and emotions. All in all the manga is gonna end on a good note (hopefully) and it has managed to brought the plot across to the readers and fans in such a short note (although I would like to see it being longer).
To those who are hating on the last arc due to certain reasons, it's understandable, and I can't blame you for that. However, there are certain contexts in Japanese that can't be brought across through English. Let's talk about Muzan for example. He is a creature that craves everlasting life and has no dignity or whatsoever, and will resort to whatever means necessary to obtain immortality. That is why he is always hiding behind the scenes using the demons to do his will. He is cowardly to the extent that he has to make sure his body is as invincible as possible (five brains, seven hearts, insane regeneration, etc). Yet, in the end, he is just an empty shell, no goals, no aspirations or whatever, and that could explain why he has no demon blood art. Look at the Upper Moons and even Lower Five as well as Kyogai (the drum demon), their demon blood art has a link to their backstory, their pain, their aspirations, their beloved ones when they are human, etc. Muzan can be invincible, but in the end, he is nothing. Even in his death, he died miserably in nothingness. In my opinion, I think Gotouge has done a good job in capturing the essence of Muzan from start to end. Not all final villains have to be fancy, ambitious or powerful. Villains like Muzan reminds us of how ugly one human nature can be. And it's sort of a fresh breath of air in the recent shounen genre, to me at least.
Feel free to agree or disagree with my post, this is just my honest opinion. You can scroll through this long-ass post if you detest this, as I would be ignoring any comments/replies (if there is any) that contains pure hate, immaturity and stupidity.
All in all, I would like to thank Gotouge for the journey she has brought us throughout these 4 years since the start of serialization. It has been an emotional ride.
Hewwo, hope you're doing well. Could you please rank the Lower Moons from most to least sadistic? I swear you're one of like 2 or 3 people who write for them at all
Lower Moons are sweethearts, I’ll do my best! I’m also adding Kyogai since I realized I include former Upper Moons every time, yet neglect our beloved former Lower Moon. Time to correct my mistake.
Lower Moons Most to Least Sadistic
Enmu – There’s not really any competition on this list. Enmu is not only sadistic but also masochistic to the point where it just makes you wonder whether his masochism isn’t really just some extreme for of sadism as well. It doesn’t matter who exactly is suffering so long as it’s someone. It’s a little subverted by the fact that he gives people pleasant dreams and even when Tanjiro comes after him, he attempts to get his way in a non-sadistic way at first but what really ensured his victory was the absolute bliss in his expression as he watched his fellow demons get cut down one by one by Muzan.
Wakuraba – A lot of sadists are actually very cowardly once confronted with someone more powerful than them. This is also Wakuraba’s case. While being far from Enmu’s level, he also expressed some sadistic tendencies, noting how he wanted to kill much more and couldn’t afford to die by Muzan’s hand. He also watched everyone else die and even his last thoughts were centered around death, this time the one he expected Enmu to meet.
Rui – He’s everyone’s favorite spider child and he’s also one of the most sadistic Lower Moons. The only reason he ranks behind Wakuraba is that he won’t go out of his way to torture someone just for walking into his territory. In fact, most of the demon slayers straying on the Natagumo mountain receive a quick and almost painless death if they make it all the way to him. However, his sadistic side shows way more clearly when it comes to his family. Be it slicing away at their faces, hanging them out in the sun or cutting them to pieces, Rui is not messing around.
Mukago – Like mentioned earlier, she gets swayed by emotions very easily and thus, she’s not a sadist in the true meaning of the word. She lets her anger get the best out of her and it blocks out whatever patience she might have for any sort of sadistic torture. However, she is no saint. Unless angered or afraid for her life, she can and will try at least some mocking.
Kyogai – Again, not a sadist in the true meaning of the word. Kyogai doesn’t particularly want to see others suffer but he likes to indulge in his self-proclaimed justice on those he assumes have wronged him. Or those who have more determination than him.
Kamanue – His generally bratty attitude isn’t exactly sadistic but he doesn’t keep his temper in check very well. He’s less likely to torture someone, physically or mentally, but very likely to throw rude comments around and mock his enemies as he slices through them.
Rokuro – Unlike most of the Lower Moons, Rokuro has actually been shown to be in charge of his emotions. He’s also the one Lower Moon who prefers to claim he will be useful to saying he will fight someone. He’s level-headed and rational and can suppress his panic for long enough. Shame he’s not as good with his arguments as he is with keeping himself in check.
plot twist: nezuko is actually going to be the one to use the breath of sun technique. theres some evidence for this scattered about the manga but it mostly plays into kny’s ongoing theme of inheritance.
evidence under the cut!:
1.) nezuko conquers the very sun itself.
as a demon she is able to do the one thing muzan could never dream of accomplishing (despite using alchemy and various other methods to fix this set back to his conditional immortality)
Tumblr media
2.) the markings that appear when she taps into her well of power. she becomes more demon-like but gains a monumental power boost.
Tumblr media
nezuko doesnt eat humans. my theory is that this is her demon slayer mark (you could argue that its just a demon mark but it makes more sense for it to be a demon slayer mark) vine-like marks appear all over her body. we know later on in the manga when demon slayer marks are revealed, that they come in all shapes and sizes.
Tumblr media
her vines resemble gyomei’s marks in a way. demon slayer marks arent limited to a certain size or shape or only showing up in one location on the body.
3.) spider lily.
relates to the above point. ufotable sums it up best visually in the kimetsu no yaiba end theme sequence. nezuko is associated with spider-lilies. in the manga muzan is turned into a demon by a doctor through the use of a medication muzan’s spent centuries attempting to recreate.
the medication held a key ingredient- blue spider lily. but a freshly turned muzan killed the doctor before learning its secrets, thinking it didnt work.
the vine-like demon slayer marks on nezukos body may be a reference to this!
4.) A: nezukos blood demon art.
okay before we get into this.. lets clear up some things about breath of fire vs breath of sun.
all breaths are derived from the breath of sun. its creator, yoriichi tsugikuni did his best to teach as many swordsmen his talent but no one could perfectly recreate it.
rengokus family utilized breath of fire.
tanjiro remembers his fathers dance of the fire god in a near-death battle against rui. but... he was unable to sever ruis head by himself. the breathing technique took too much out of him
(despite his father telling him theres a way to breathe where you wont grow tired even after hours of vigorous activity. tanjiro’s father being a frail man usually seen bedridden before his death but able to dance barefoot in the snow for hours)
just like tanjiros father comes to him in a near-death hallucination, nezukos will is awakened by her mother’s visage telling her tanjiro is in danger. she activates her blood demon art.
the ability for her blood to burn demons or take on an explosive quality.
Tumblr media
its only by nezuko coating ruis strings in her blood, weakening them so tanjiro can actually cut through them.
this moments badass and turns the tides in the series but it almost takes a back seat to tanjiros dance of the fire god. its plainly there but the intrigue of his new sword style captivates the audience.
tanjiro and nezuko are the generation destined to end a cycle of hate.
tanjiro inherited yoriichi’s hanafuda earrings.. but nezuko inherited his will and breath style. the ancestral memories tanjiro witnessed depict young yoriichi as the younger twin sibling to the first upper moon, kokushibou.
young yoriichi is naturally talented with the sword but doesnt enjoy it like his older brother. instead opting to protect and support the weak around him (for instance their sickly mother. young yoriichi acting as a crutch for her)
Tumblr media
(”youre weaker than your little demon sister. but anyways, youre pathetic!! You’re the big bro, so you ought to be the one protecting your little sis, not the one being protected.”
“Hey, man. How do you feel now? You’re alive, pathetic and alone. Your last ray of hope pretty much used up all her strength.”) the above page paralleling the plight of the twins.
during the fight with kokushibou he expresses similar sentiments. hes alive but hes all alone and pathetic, never able to surpass his human brother who died gracefully.
also, nezuko is often in a defensive / healer / support role like her twin counterpart.
4.) B: Fire vs. Sun & Nezuko’s other blood demon art
Shinobu points out that theres a difference between the breath of flame and breath of sun / fire and to never refer to the breath of flame as the breath of fire. she tells him that he’ll have to speak to rengoku about it
taken from the wiki: “The kanji for "sun" (日ひ hi?) has the same pronunciation as the kanji for "fire" (火ひ hi?).”
nezuko’s other blood demon art is burning demonic poison out of inosuke and uzui
Tumblr media
its an advanced form of the technique she uses to wake up tanjiro and the others on the infinity train!
5.) whats in a name?
nezuko and tanjiros names. taken directly from the wikipedia:
“ The first part of her first name means "red bean" (禰豆ねず nezu?), and is also part of the Japanese word for a flower, the Japanese Snowball(五禰豆ごねず gonezu?). The second part is a common female name suffix, which translates to "child" (子こ ko?). “
nezukos name essentially means “flower child” further proving her connection to the blue spider-lily and it being an intentional detail. also interesting to note with her demon slayer marks.
“ His first name contains the kanji for "charcoal" (炭たん tan?), "to heal" (治じ ji?) and "son, male" (郎ろう rō?), which is also a common male name suffix. “
throughout the series tanjiro is shown to be a healer.
he heals urokodakis pain of losing his beloved students. he defeats the hand demon and releases all the dead childrens’ spirits.
he welcomes zenitsu as a travel companion and doesnt abandon him, becoming zenitsus first friend and a motivation for him to stay in the demon slayer corps.
he earns inosukes respect and helps teach him what its like to live not just for the sake of survival.
he heals giyuu who still blames himself for his sister’s death as well as sabitos. hes able to push giyuu to forgiving himself and working past his mental block
he even helps get genya and his brother sanemi to the point where they can understand one another again. he gives them that push
he heals shinobu. allowing her to know her older sister’s wish and legacy will be carried out even without shinobu there to ensure it. shes able to commit to her plan of taking in a lethal dose of wisteria poison so she can take douma out.
he heals the rift in rengokus family with rengokus dying request. even leaving while still injured to speak with the deceased pillar’s surviving family. comforting rengokus little brother.
he helps kanaos heart awaken, giving her the push to do what she wants without the flip of a coin. its through his dedication and kindness he earns her respect
some examples with demons:
he shows mercy to ruis “mother” (killing her gently when he realizes she welcomes death to escape endless terror).
as rui dies he rests his hand on the boys back, realizing despite all the horrible things hes done, he was once a kid.
when confronting the drum demon kyogai (telling him his blood demon art was superb and treating his writing as if they werent trash by refusing to step on them) he allows the demon to remember who he was long ago.
he rolls the temari towards susamaru as she dies, wanting to play with her toy.
theres a few other examples but i think ive... made my point here.
6.) how?
like its creator, i believe breath of the sun came to nezuko naturally. its why shes able to rapidly gain strength in the heat of battle, why she doesnt need to consume humans. her will power is so strong (breath styles typically require self-discipline)
they even make a point of showing shes still breathing but asleep while tanjiro trains.
a style of breathing where the user can move without losing stamina... thats nezukos secret.
this is how she will defeat muzan and try to save tanjiros life!!!
conclusion: tanjiros a red herring change my mind
FEATURE: Creature Comforts! Exploring Demon Slayer's Surprising Menagerie
Tumblr media
    Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has come a long way since its early days in Shonen Jump. It is currently the 11th best-selling manga of all time, its anime adaptation a smash hit, and its follow-up film Mugen Train one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Japanese cinema. How did this happen? Some might point to the lovable character of Tanjirou and his loyal friends. Others might gesture at ufotable’s polished adaptation, with its careful line art and well-animated fight scenes. There is some truth to both of these things. But here, in the pages of Crunchyroll News, I will make a different argument: you cannot understand Demon Slayer without talking about its cute animals.
Tumblr media
      Chachamaru, the Cat
  I can sense your attention drifting, reader. “Cute animals?” you say. “What about how by hearing out the personal struggles of each demon, Tanjirou demonstrates that empathy is the most powerful weapon of all?” I hear you and understand. But did you see this invisible cat? What a surprise!
  Chachamaru is a cat, the personal helper of the vampiric medical doctor Tamayo. Chachamaru’s distinguishing ability is a charm it wears that allows it to appear and disappear. At the end of the knock-down fight with Kyogai, the battle in which for me Demon Slayer truly finds its feet, Chachamaru appears out of nowhere to collect a sample of blood. Having received this sample, it uses its charm to once more disappear to safety.
  What is notable about Chachamaru? First of all, it is very cute. Being able to become invisible arguably makes it even cuter. The only thing more charming (and dangerous) than a house cat is a house cat that can appear and disappear at will. Imagine being Tanjirou, risking your life against a dangerous demon. Being Tanjirou, you cannot merely slay the demon and be done with it. Instead, you must understand them, and perhaps help them find some peace at the end of their days. Even a good-natured boy like Tanjirou might find themselves challenged by this situation. But then, just when he might be tired, a small tabby cat appears out of nowhere to collect the blood. How unexpected! Tanjirou suddenly feels refreshed, and just like that we feel refreshed too.
  I should mention that Chachamaru is one way in which the manga, to me, exceeds the anime. The anime’s rendition of Chachamaru is perfectly cute, but nobody draws weird, blobby-but-expressive cat heads like manga artist Koyoharu Goutoge.
Tumblr media
    Ukogi, the Sparrow
  A defining trait of the Demon Slayer Corps are their crows, which carry messages back and forth and sometimes spout exposition about the setting. Tanjirou’s crow is about what you’d expect from a crow, a haughty bird that pecks him on the head during next episode previews. Tanjirou’s ally Zenitsu, however, does not have a crow. Zenitsu has a sparrow.
  Compared to a crow, Zenitsu’s sparrow, Ukogi, is comparatively useless. For one thing, it cannot speak. For another, it is very small. But don’t count your chickens before they hatch. Ukogi may be small and mute, but by virtue of being a sparrow, it is still much cooler and smarter than Zenitsu. It is also an efficient visual gag, a signifier of what separates pathetic dropouts like Zenitsu from the cooler, stronger demon slayers.
  Yet even a tiny sparrow like Ukogi is able to bring joy into people’s hearts. Early in the Tsuzumi Mansion arc, Tanjirou and Zenitsu meet two children who are overcome with fear. It is only by making Ukogi appear from his hands like magic that Tanjirou is able to calm the kids so they will point him in the direction of the demon that threatens their family. Ukogi may be nothing but a simple sparrow, but just like a cat, a sparrow is able to surprise. Tanjirou is one of the most beloved heroes in modern manga because he never assumes the worst of someone because they are small, stupid, or weak. It is for this reason that while his teammates and allies may be weirder or dorkier than their compatriots from other, flashier Shonen Jump stories, they would all die for him and his sister Nezuko.
  [.JPG CLASSIFIED]
  Ninju, the Mice
  The arc that directly follows Mugen Train is very good, one I’d love to see animated. But if I’m being honest, I am hoping for more Demon Slayer anime for one reason only, and that is the Muscle Mice.
  What are the Muscle Mice? Once I was as naive as you. My friend who brought me kicking and screaming into the world of Demon Slayer once showed me a picture of the Muscle Mice as an example of what the manga, at its very best, can achieve. The Muscle Mice are, just like you’d think, mice with huge muscles. They do the bidding of a character who has yet to be introduced in the anime and are memorable every time they appear. They might be flexing their muscles. They might be carrying a character’s swords. How is it that through careful training, their master was able to produce two muscular mice? Your guess is as good as mine.
  The Muscle Mice reveal another facet of Demon Slayer's appeal: it is just a little gross. Of course, Tanjirou is very nice. Of course, the characters will perform feats of superhuman skill to protect the innocent. But the series is always a little off-kilter. The arch-villain dresses like Michael Jackson and vaporizes his own troops when they fail to please him. The hero’s allies include an angry and very flexible man wearing a pig mask, and Zenitsu. The manga is packed with funny reaction faces that look more like potatoes with googly eyes attached than traditional anime-style superdeformed chibis. You might think that by calling the faces in the Demon Slayer “potatoes with googly eyes,” I am insulting them. Reader, I adore them. The anime works to capture some of this appeal, but it can’t help but streamline Goutoge’s art in the process of polishing Demon Slayer's rough diamond. The grottiness of the manga’s relatively unpolished designs is where the magic happens, and where the Muscle Mice dwell.
Tumblr media
    Perhaps it’s jealousy. Years ago, I rooted for Demon Slayer's underdog success. Now I can’t help but feel, with the massive popularity of the anime, that the invisible cat is out of the box. That what was once a closely kept secret doesn’t just belong to my friend and I anymore. But I know what Tanjirou would do: he would share. So here’s my gift to you, as a fan of Kimetsu no Yaiba to a fan of Demon Slayer. Demon Slayer is not just the astounding pyrotechnics of Episode 19. It is not just LiSA’s banging opening theme. It is a humble sparrow. It is a disappearing cat. Demon Slayer is a surprise.
  A postscript. In June 2020, famed manga artist Daisuke Igarashi published an illustration honoring his love of Demon Slayer in the magazine Brutus. Featured prominently were my beloved boar fighter Inosuke, a crow and a sparrow, a fluffy cat, and two shockingly muscular mice. If you looked very closely in the lower-left corner, as well, you could, unfortunately, see Zenitsu.
  What do you think about Demon Slayer? Do you wish that Chachamaru the cat had more screen time? Who could win in a fight, Zenitsu’s sparrow or Zenitsu? Let us know in the comments!
