‘Right where you left me.’
Old art of Kion and Jasiri!! Was collecting dust in my files so might as well share it. In my headcanon they are clooseee like they tell each other everything about their adventures, new friends and themselves. Jasiri was taken back when he left unannounced to stay at the tree of life. He returned years later to ask for help but she aint having it. Idk an AU ig cause I just wanted to draw my fav crackship 😭

Will this always be just an arrangement We'll find out in time if we don't break it
I'm not one to join trends, but Tiktok is not the one for media literacy, specially when songs become popular.
In this case, this song (as if you did a little bit of research), is about the marriage arrangement between Joseph and Mary for the benefits of both their faimilies, and how if they are both not exactly "in love" with each other, they are going to try to make things work.
And i think it fits Rani's and Kion's relationship. Sure, Rani proposed to Kion, but then it probably hit her how big of a responsibility she was putting on herself and Kion, their respective freedom in perill. But Kion is here to reassure her that they are a team and it's up to them to grow together, even if they are stuck.
Also this was meant for International Asexual Day since my Kion is Asexual!

Kion as a zebra
The point of the lion guard to me is the diversity of the team and I thought it would be interesting to flip this on its head a bit, as in making Kion an adopted prey animal. It forces the royal family to acknowledge a double standard in how prey animals are treated in the pridelands. Kion knows what happened to his parents but he’s a member of the royal family and thus cannot connect with other zebras. It creates a very complicated dynamic between Kion and his adopted family
Disney would NEVER but it’s a good thing I’m not Disney 😀

Kion! (she/he)
He's Ghaterieu's second oldest kid, he's the goddess/god of weaving and sewing. He's very open and friendly, though also very anxious when talking with mortals, and in general too. He is married to Coel, god of the bounty/harvest, and they have a few kids together :]
She didn't really like how her dad just ended up shutting down any sort of thing about her uncle, so she tried her best to preserve his memory, though even then it was frustratingly very little, since he dissapeared when she was 7. So accounts from herself weren't too manageable, but she still went around, collecting anything she could.
And with this attempt, she also began making tapestries of families, of the dead, of important moments, as well as the small ones, preserving those who didn't have anyone to remember them by.
I did a little background splot to not just have him in a void of light blue, maybe I'll keep it around for the next drawings :]

TLG: Best of Friends
This drawing came from a scene I thought I saw in a Land Before Time movie/episode. I went to look for the scene I swear I saw, but to no avail for the longest time. Until just this December, I saw a post on Reddit about someone's headcanon that the Guard didn't stay at the Tree of Life with Kion, someone responded with a link to this clip. Lo and behold, the scene exists, let alone the commenter and I just thinking very alike. A godsend really. But anyway since Kion's Guard has always given me TLBT vibes (no doubt Ford Riley and other producers of the show brought some elements over to TLG), I got this idea of Kion and his friends going their separate ways for the 7th anniversary of TLG's first episode. I thought it would be a good aftermath of the events after Season 3 and something for their adult counterparts to do. I felt that a bittersweet departure would add more depth to this happy-go-lucky team of kids. The later seasons of TLG really almost went this deep. Had there been a Season 4, I could totally see something like this happening. As for the separate ways they're going, Bunga ventures with Binga to seek all the thrills that await them across the continent, Fuli and Azaad race wherever their paws take them, Beshte assumes his father's position as creator of the hippo lanes at Pride Rock, and continues to make many friends along the way, Ono becomes the Tree of Life's ambassador to the Pridelands, and Anga is preparing to become Kiara's majordomo once the lioness becomes queen.
I was contemplating drawing Makini, but ultimately decided against it out of not only exhaustion and not immediately having an aged-up design for her on-hand, but because she's not leaving the Tree of Life. Though... she would owe a hug to those who are leaving the Tree of Life since she made good friends with everyone, so I suppose it would've made sense 🤷‍♀️
Happy belated 7 Years to The Lion Guard!
(EDIT: Now with Kion’s regal marking!)

Nice to see The Lion Guard continue The Lion King's tradition of featuring the most unbearably cheesy (affectionate) love songs imaginable 🤣

Can we talk about how neat it was that The Lion Guard, a Disney Junior series, didn’t just skip over or write out the characters from The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride, which in many ways was darker and more mature than the first Lion King film?  I mean. They just said “‘Oh, you want us to make a series about Simba’s never-before-seen son, even though there’s already a canon sequel where it seems like Kiara is an only child? And that sequel also includes elements of betrayal and prejudice, and assassinations? And that sequel ends with one young son’s death and a mother who attacks her own children and would rather die than forgive and forget? Challenge accepted.”

They COULD HAVE just sent the main characters away to the Tree of Life and never brought them back. They could have left it with the one episode we got during Kiara and Kion’s cubhood where the Guard encounters Zira. Just throw the fandom a bone and carry on with their children’s show targeting 8 year-olds. But no. They really went for it and tried to wrap everything up neatly. I respect the effort at problem-solving.
