hun. I have. questions. I have thoughts. I have everything but tiredness and I'm supposed to be sleeping. I have a job to go to tomorrow. instead of that guess what I'm doing. I'm crawling on my roof. I'm gnawing at the bars of my enclousure. I'm in your walls actually.
let's go back to my 5+1 format. today is maybe 4 things for real.
1. I was. on the beach. ON THE BEACH. with my mom. and my dad. AND my brother. I was asleep before I saw the chapter. I had. a fucking alcoholic beverage in my hand. my family kinda assumed fighting karens at my job finally caught me and I had gone insane. maybe screaming bloody murder after I was asleep was a little bit worrying (two german dudes came to see if I was or had some kind of drug. I didn't). but Peter and Dante got me. I wanna have them. in front of me so that I can do some stress release.
2. the outfit is like. slutty slutty or just slutty. I never kind of understood the heels. are they like one of those that look like "roman" sandals? if you know what I mean. the ones that wish death upon your feet the moment you see them through the window that also are insufferable to wear because of the little strips or how exactly. show me your brain. c'mon don't be shy. I just wanna have a look. on how the fuck this thing goes. obviously not for a spoilers objective. surely not because of that.
3. fuck Fred and fuck Ferrari and fuck sponsors. in all honesty, fuck everyone but Jimmy and Sassy. oh and that reminds me
4. I hate you. (I don't) why would you work me up that fucking much and then leave me there. you're like a bf I had in college that left when we were about to have sex because he remembered he had an assignment due the next day and he had to finish like half of the thing. asshole.
+1 had it been anyone else, I would go on to say I'm proud to say I saw the Carlos thing coming. but is you. I cannot trust you. you're the real unreliable narrator. I'm sure I'll get a whiplash of the bunch of plot twist that this thing has.
+2 I was not going to text you about my issues with the operation of ao3 but after I faced a Charles fucking Dickens tag AGAIN I decided that maybe I will. it was all to protect my identity because I'm batman (I do not know how to use tumblr either, you'll soon find out) but who cares now. the PTSD is real now. if I ever find Charles Dickens again on ao3 I'll scoop my eyeballs with a spoon.

hii daisy !! not speaking romantically at all here ok just the dynamics between drivers! so honestly my top ship is lestappen just bc i love lore and history in general and they have so much of it. lestappen lore is fucking insane. maxoscar is second fav, i feel like there’s just.. not rly a lot there that i know of and the ship exists bc i want oscar to succeed to the point he is fighting w max and charles every race and i want a lestappen + oscar podium. i wanna see him thirdwheel lestappen so bad.
third is like.. tied. landoscar is like, why are you so fucking weird about each other? the way they interact with each other especially in the mclaren games… weird. on the same level, charles, george, and pierre. they r mean girls. charles is regina, george is gretchen, pierre is karen. i love it. i want to be a fly on the wall when they’re in a room alone just to hear all the gossip. also really loving charlewis lately im so excited to see lewis at ferrari next year tbh.

On top of that we’ve had the shitty FIA, Karen Horner dominance, Piquets shoved down our throats, cheating scandals on & off track, budget caps out the window, Ferrari in shambles, and a pensioner (Alonso) acting up. At this point I’m wondering why I’m still watching lmaoooo
Looking back at innocent lil old me who thought we reached peak drama with the midseason demotion of Dany back in 2016 + the brocedes divorce on main 💀 genuinely thought we couldn't beat that season and yet here we are...

So this is really random, but I got the idea of f1 as the Mean Girls characters. It's probably been done before, and I don't even know if you have even seen the movie. But I was having too much fun with writing this, and you seem like the type to also enjoy this type of thought experiment 😉

F1 2023 as mean girls:
Red Bull as Regina George
Rich, pretty and powerful. She owns the school whether they want her to or not. Even bully and manipulate the principal (fia) to get her way. She is the queen and mean girl over them all. She knows she is a bitch and doesn't care.
Mercedes as Cady Heron
Started out with good intentions, but became corrupted by power and competition. She still believes she is helping others and won't acknowledge that she is also a bitch. Had a falling out with most of the others.
Ferrari as Karen Smith
Clueless. Part of the popular girls, but not really involved on their fight. She is to busy trying to fit her own fist in her mouth, trying not to fail every class. Pretty but dumb.
Aston Martin as Gretchen Wieners
Rich and a part of the popular group. Always collecting secrets and gossip. Always looking out for who to copy from/become best friends with next. Sick of Red Bull dominating, but still copying her style.
Alpine as Aaron Samuels
Used to date Red Bull and was kinda a power couple with her. Got dumped and cheated on though, so he lost some status. Still rich, pretty and popular though. Not the sharpest tool in the shed.
McLaren as Janis Ian
Used to be popular, but has become an outcast. Mean and obsessed with destroying the popular girls, especially Red Bull. Knows she is a bitch, but has embraced it and tries to focus on arts. Was a part of Mercedes becoming popular, but regretted it later.
Williams as Damian
Following McLaren and is generally nice to other people. He does go along with all her plans though, which usually hurt other people. The only ones that matter to him are McLaren and Mercedes.
Haas as Kevin G
Unpopular and usually seen as an annoyance by the others. Incredibly honest and not caring about fitting in to the popular groups. Loves to show of and thinks himself very talented, but often lack the final resources/parts to actually succeed.
Alpha Romeo as Mrs Norbury
Tired of life and all the kids. She is so done with all the drama and had had some of the worst luck. She tries to get her students so care for the finer details and not just the parties and money. Talks mostly with Haas, her spunky and weird student.
AlphaTauri as Shane Oman
Red Bulls boyfriend and supporter. Doesn't really care much for the drama and only follows Red Bull around. He can also sometimes give advise or help her, but is usually just used as a hook up by Red Bull.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - an overlong, but fun ride....
Some context first, I didn't grow up with Indiana Jones so I don't have that nostalgic love for it that a lot of people do. So I am neither overly harsh, nor overly complimentary when it comes to Indiana Jones movies. I only really watched them when KOTC was about to come out and I decided to watch the trilogy. I really loved The Last Crusade. That one is my favorite because Ford and Connery were such a hilarious father and son couple. Raiders is epic and 2nd on my list, though the climax still feels awfully convenient. I was not a huge Temple of Doom fan, because I am not a fan of the cultural caricatures depicted in the film, nor did I like Willie as a character, who basically screamed her way through the film. On rewatches I have enjoyed the film more. I enjoyed KOTC when it came out and I still do. I didn't have a problem with Shia/Mutt, nor with the fact that there were aliens in the film. So, given that context, take my opinion as you want. I quite enjoyed Dial of Destiny. Its not as good as Raiders of TLC. I think it might be my 3rd fav Indiana Jones movie though.
What I like about the film is that it went there. It didn't retreat to safety of the aliens criticism of KOTC, and it arguably went far more batshit crazy in the last act. I honestly quite liked that. I enjoyed the blending of scientific concept with sci-fi and history. I also do think the humor works for the most part. Ford is in the zone throughout and PWB is a perfectly excellent co-lead. The action scenes are entertaining. The opening sequence set in the past is excellent. The deaging work done with Indy is spectacular and you only really notice something is off if you really focus on it. The tuk tuk chase is also a lot of fun, as is the underwater sequence. Mads Mikkelsen is also reliably excellent as the Nazi villain. I also feel that the film on a nice uplifting note with a sweet callback to Raiders.
When it comes to issues, the primary issue is that it is a bit overlong and it doesn't pack the emotional punch that it probably should have. I feel they could have explored the emotional issues Indy is dealing with a bit more as well as developed the growing bond between Indy and Helena. At times, it does feel the plot is an excuse to go from one action set piece to another and the way they find things, like Archimedes' tomb, seems pretty easy, although I suppose the same could be said in previous films too. Without giving away spoilers, I do feel like that the ending was reshot and changed. There is an abrupt cut in the climax, which feels like the result of a reshoot.
When it comes to James Mangold's filmogboraphy, this isn't as good as say Ford v Ferrari or Logan, but it still a solid venture. The performances are top notch, particularly from Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Mad Mikkelsen. It was nice to see a few nostalgic returns from John Rhys-Davies and Karen Allen. Boyd Holbrook as the villain henchman is solid. Overall I would say the movie is pretty good. I enjoyed it. A 7.5/10.
