i feel like the reason i’m getting so confused by tmagp is because the fears are less,,, defined? and we don’t even have confirmation that smirke’s 14 are like A Thing in this timeline right but it’s still a knee-jerk reaction to try and compartmentalize them but it’s not really working?
like it was easier for the first couple cases right the first chatter was something with the End and then the second one was DEFINITELY something about the Eye but it’s only gotten more difficult the longer it’s gone on.
i think it’s just the most recent case that’s REALLY getting me. because almost all of the case is very Desolation to me. like we heard it in jude perry's statement in tma where she talks about how HER brand of destruction was stocks and investing. so hearing this guy talk about how he did All Of That destroying his own body just for a bag felt very Desolation-coded. AND THEN THE FUCKING CREATURE THAT WAS A FUCKING BUG (ha ha app program bugs it's still the Corruption i think)
like, idfk what the hell is actually going on here. we had 5 seasons 200 episodes telling us how we could compartmentalize and organize these statements into fourteen categories with very rare instances of overlap, and then we get tmagp that almost feels like it's turning it all on its head? HELP

thanks to the people who interacted with my og mermed post who reminded me I've meant to post this wip of the rest of them but kept forgetting, since it might never get finished.
Well, minus the Kankers and Bro, who all also had merfolk designs but I never got to them.
All 3 Kankers were going to be different kinds of sharks: Lee a Great White, Marie either a tiger or Mako, and May a Nurse Shark... and ofc Bro was going to be a whale though I was struggling between the sperm whale like his trailer or a humpback for better design.

Vincent: The other members of Avalanche and I got into a huge fight over the question 'how deep can a pan get before it becomes a pot?' It took a half hour before we realized what we were arguing about.
Shelke: Pan has one handle, pot has two.
Lucrecia: Vin and I definitely have pots with one handle.
Shinzizi: Oh shit.
Wolf: I always thought a pan has the long handle and pots had no handle or two looped handles.
Vincent: No handle? That's like cooking on expert, yes?

Sephiroth, rejoining the group: I'm too lazy to check what everyone here has said. But once the height of the pan is more than one third the radius of the bottom- it's a pot, not a pan. My source is the Shin-Ra Soldier unit survival guide, it was the dumbest question I had to answer, so I'll remember it forever.
Shinzizi: Finally! Well, that's that settled.
Wave: How cuwved can a fwying pan be befowe it becomes a wok?

I have so many thoughts about the mechanisms and I don't know if their immortality was ever explained so
Spoilers for the end of the mechs
So everyone dies eventually so they aren't truly immortal
But it's not like their immortality had limits Jonny got decapitated (gunpowder Tim vs the moon kaiser) and he also got torn limb from limb (interview transcript)
And if you look into it they all were the cause of their death or we can assume they were
Jonny died in a bar fight which based on his character we can assume he started
Ashes set themselves on fire after a freak accident
Drumbot Brian threw himself into space
Gunpowder Tim didn't wear his seatbelt which since that's his own fault I'm counting it
Raphaella launched herself into a black hole
Ivy takes a bit of imagination but since she spent her last minutes launching books into space rather than running from the war I'm counting that it's her own doing
Nastya launches herself into space
Toy soldier says it was never alive but stopped pretending to be
Carmilla being a vampire I'm not counting since I'm talking about the mechanisms immortality not hers
The aurora I'm not counting here either although she's sentient I don't think the same technology was used on her as the other mechanisms
Marius is the only one that doesn't fit into this being eaten by octokittens but that's okay because it was implied that he was mechanismed not by carmilla but by someone else so for this he also doesn't count
All this being said I think the mechanisms were completely immortal unless they caused their own death.
