Wrath
That sinking feeling in my stomach. From the moment I woke up it did not leave my side. A constant heavy weight in my core.
Something is wrong, something I can’t properly attach a reason to, but I simply knew something is not right.
Groaning I raise my hands, with them flanking my head. With a hiss of air I remove my helmet, exposing my features to the warm midday air. Turning my helmet around I face it. Looking deep in to the jet black glass of my helmets lens, the feeling in my core only grew.
Frowning I look around, soldiers filling the trench we are tasked with holding, MG nests lining my right with man and woman diligently keeping watch for the slightest of hostile movements.
Glancing to my left I see one of my friends sitting next to me, his armor decorated with a distinctive blue line painted across his chest , his eyes closed.
“You doing alright?” I ask him, wondering if he’s feeling something similar as me.
“Tired.” he responded, monotone voice not allowing me to pick up anything.
Raising a eyebrow I look back to my helmet “A bad feeling kept you from sleeping?”
From the corner of my eyes I see him sit straight up, his body turning stiff “Dunno, just couldn’t sleep.”
Sighing I look up to the sky, something is wrong, I just know it.
As I’m facing up, my eyes closed, another voice in front of me rings out “Sargent, something the matter?”
With the voice my eyes shot open. Scrambling to my feet I quickly salute the person standing before me.
Standing slightly shorter than me, my commanding officer stands before me. ”Ma’am!” being the only thing leaving my mouth as my helmet thuds off of the ground.
“At ease. Something troubling you?” she asks me while I pick up my helmet.
“No ma’am.” I quickly respond.
“It doesn’t take a expert to tell Sargent. Consider it an order, speak up.” she simply responded, shooting down my poor attempt at hiding my worries.
Staying quiet for a few moments I shake my head “Ma’am, something’s wrong. I have no prof, but I just know that something isn’t right.”
A sigh escaped her as she shook her head, I stiffened at the response. Perhaps it would have been better not to speak.
“I had hoped that you would not say that.” she announced. Confusion starting to grow in me.
“I have seen many soldiers look concerned since this morning, questioning them resulted in the same answer, something just being wrong. I hade wrote it off as nerves acting up, but if somebody like you feels the same....nerves have nothing to do with it.” a frown formed on my face with her words, I’m not alone. Something really is amiss.
Before ether of us could speak a soldiers voice filled our ears “Gas! Gas on the horizon! Seal helmets!”
Looking back at my commander, with her meeting my eyes, I quickly throw my helmet on, the familiar sound and feeling of the helmet sealing coming over me. Soldiers around us started to rapidly move, setting up at the trench end to repel any attack that may come.
Walking up to the trench myself, my weapon in hand, I look past the craters formed by explosions to see a wave of green rapidly approaching our position. Only the Vek use poison gas, and only on civilians at that. Air scrubbers come standard in any military helmet now a day, meaning this is a mute attempt. But as I watch the wall of green get closer, a feeling of dread comes over me.
Having no time to question it, the wall of green moves over us. Tinting all our sights in green. Readying my weapon for the incoming attack, my body stopped moving. A burning sensation filled my lunges as I stumbled back from the trench wall, many soldiers collapsing to the ground around me. A cough escaped me, then another, and another. The burning sensation growing ever worse in my chest. All around me the sound of soldiers coughing filled my ears. my eyes darting around at the sight of soldiers collapsed on the ground.
Breathing becomes agony, as with every breath I attempt to make the burning in my chest grows. Falling to my knees I feel something warm slowly flowing down my chin. Collapsing to the ground, all I can do is watch my fellow man suffer a slow and agonizing death.
As my body grows motionless, in front of me a foot appears, the foot walking past me. Turning my head I see one of our soldiers walking through the green air, no signs of the gas affecting him. As I watch him, the soldier turns around, his head watching the death all around him. My eyes widening at the sight of a blue stripe across his chest.
As I watch him, he moves out of the trench towards the Vek line. With every moment the truth of the situation grew ever clearer.
A traitor.
He’s a traitor.
As I lay on the ground a new sensation starts to come over me. Another burning sensation. A burning that consumed the pain the gas gifted me with.
A person I called a friend did this, he would not only doom us to a slow and agonizing death, but if we fall, the city, the people we swore to protect would suffer just like this.
I could no longer feel the pain of my lunges failing, the pain of them falling apart. That did not mater. None of that matters now. I can’t accept this.
No, I won’t accept this! I refuse to let anything happen to civilians, to the people I swore to lay my life down for!
Gritting my teeth I start pushing myself off of the ground, forcing myself on to my knees I grab my helmet and rip it off. The moment I do blood pores out and covers me in its crimson color. Throwing it away I cough once more, more blood spilling on to the ground.
Looking up I see countless of my comrades lying on the ground, motionless. Succumb to the grim fate thrown at us. But among them, movement. Some of my brothers and sisters yet live, as they rise, defiance burning within them.
Raising to my feel I make my way to the trench wall, my feet dragging as I force all the strength in me to allow me to move. Reaching the wall I collapse on it, beyond the trench a legion of Vek slowly moving closer in the open. No attempt at seeking cover, so sure in there victory as they crawl across the ground.
The sound of bodies hitting something solid echoes in our trench as more and more dying soldiers throw themselves at the trench walls. And to my left a figure climbs out of the trench.
The figure leaning against a pole holding the flag of our empire, legs shaking as they stand. After a few moments they remove there helmet, my commanders platinum hair, now tainted a crimson red in spots, lightly swaying in the wind.
Only the soft hum of wind filling the air as the Vek stopped there advance at the sight. She looked at them, rage, hatred, and defiance burning in her eyes as she took in a deep breath, blood dripping from her mouth in the proces.
Knowing what is to come, I raise my weapon, my sights instantly landing on a all to familiar sight to me. A humanoid figure, with a blue stripe across there chest.
My commanding officers voice broke the silence, her roar shaking the ground we stand on “Let none live! Sow despair in there hearts!”
And with her roar, she fell to her knees, her arm raised as she fired the first shot from her handgun. Now she may rest, having done her duty. For now we must complete our duty as well.
A roar escaped me as I pull the trigger, my round crossing the field.
With it a body falls, the body of one who should have been tried for his crimes, but was shown mercy with a quick end.
Following me the roars of countless broken bodies fill the air, followed by countless weapon fire, hundreds of our MGs silenced, but there fury living on in the ones that fight.
Climbing out of the trench I slowly shamble my way towards the panicked and retreating Vek, My weapon firing with every step I take.
They will not reach the city for as long as we breath!

Imperial Might
Here I stand, in my trench, lasgun in hand. My death slowly crawling towards me and my fellow man, powerless to stop the arch enemy as it taints all it touches. I stand straight, aiming my lasgun and fire, my aim true but the hulking mass of twisted steal and flesh that once was a proud angel of the Emperor ignoring all I throw at it. Its head turns to face me, its deformed helmet being a twisted abomination of the Emperors angels of death. I continue to fire at the monster as it raises the bolter in its hands.
The bolter screams in agony as it fires, the bolters of the traitor impacting all around me, impacting with my fellow man, leaving nothing but pile of gore where once a servant of the Emperor stood defiantly. Ignoring the warm liquid showering me I continue to fire, fury filling my mined as I roar in defiance at the traitor filth.
As the traitors bolter lines up with me, I stand fast, serving the Emperor to my last breath. And as I continue to fire, showering the traitor in red light, the traitors helmet detonates, with his body being thrown back as the roar of a bolter fills my ears.
Turning around I feel the ground shake as something jumps in to the trench. And before me, in all his glory, a Emperors angel stands tall and proud. His green armor shining in the light of the fires around us. Following him more astartes jump in the trench, with them taking point and firing in to the mass of corruption. My eyes wide as I can’t help but feel awe at the angel in front of me. The mark of the Salamanders dawning him. He looks down at me, his voice entering my ears. The calm in his voice a contrast to the events around us, but it calming me all the same.
“Guardsmen, steel yourself, the Emperors will is still to be done.” he said, gesturing to something outside of my view.
Turning I see a heavy bolter emplacement, its fury having stopped as the gunner lie in the trench. His body mangled as a bolter round tore his chest apart.
Turning to look at the Salamander, who continues to look at me, as a father would to encourage his child, I respond, no fear clouding my judgment “His will be done My Lord!” I scream as I sprint to the heavy bolter, the sound of bullets flying by my head filling my ears.
Reaching the bolter I place my hands on it, and as I do time seems to slow down. My eyes close as a silent prayer to the Emperor escapes me.
My eyes shoot open as the heavy bolter roars to life, its fury ripping all those who stand in its way apart. Be they traitor guardsmen to traitor astartes, or even the spawn of hell themselves.
As the bolter roars, drowning out any fear I may hold, two shapes flank me. Sparing them a glance my eyes widen at the sight. Two Space Wolf flanking me, there voices nearly as loud as there bolters as they fire in the horde. My own voice grew louder, following there lead.
The shield the heavy bolter has pinged and vibrated as bullets and bolter rounds pinged off of it. Protecting me from the traitor filth. The heavy bolter silenced out all sound, nearly making me miss when one of the space wolves fell to the ground, standing up moments later. But his right arm did not follow him, staying on the ground as the marine took his weapon in hand and continued to fire.
Moments later bought space wolves turned and left in a hurry, confused I continued to fire. Making the traitor filth pay for every step they take. But I was separated from the heavy bolter as I got pulled back violently. My hearing started ringing as the heavy bolter detonated, sending metal and dirt in all directions.
Moments later I regained my composure as I look around, finding myself face to face with one of the wolves as he spoke “Can you fight guardsmen?”
Before I could answer I felt my feet touch the ground, being put down by the marine. As I looked at him my eyes widened as a large piece of metal stuck out of his stomach, my voice barely heard over the gunfire “My Lord! You’re injured!”
The marine could only laugh at my words, as he placed a hand on my shoulder “Aye! I see you are fine. Let us show these filth what true servants of the Emperor can do guardsmen!” He said, his voice filling my heart with new found bravery as he simply rips the metal out of his body.
Grabbing my lasgun from my back, I find a piece of metal having pierced it. The Emperor must have smiled down upon me on this day. Looking around I see a laspistol close to me, grabbing it I stand next to the wolfs and salamanders. They spared me a glance as the wolf smiled, seemingly satisfied with me.
As I peek over the trench the earth shakes with a loud thud. At the sound the battlefield became silent. Loyalist and traitor alike stopped firing. With the ground once more shaking. The silence unnerved me as I look up at the angels next to me, with them all looking behind us. Following there gaze, with the earth shaking more and more violently with every thud. I hold my breath.
A building, standing tall moved with one thud. Moments later cracks formed on its walls as it started to fall. Kicking up dust and blocking our view. Moments later as the dust cleared my eyes grew wide as my jaw opened, standing ajar.
In front of me, standing tall and proud, one of the Emperors mightiest war machines. The skies seemed to bend to its will as a ray of sun hit it through the black sky. Bathing the towering machine in golden light. It stayed unmoving for but a few moments as one of its arms moved. The weapon on it pointing in my direction. The titans war horn blared, sending shivers down my spine as its weapon fires. A blue ball flew over my head, with me incapable of taking my eyes from the sight before me.
My ears rand as hot air hit my back, forcing me to my knees.
As I stay on my knees I look at the might of the Imperium, a prayer to the Emperor silently passing my lips as the machine moved. With a few steps it moved above the trench I found myself in. As it moved the weapon on its other hand fired, sending round after round at the heretic. Turning all that dare oppose the Emperor in to nothing more than ash.
Felling something on my back I look up to see a salamander kneeling next to me “Come guardsmen, only in death does duty end.” he said, pulling me to my feet before charging out of the trench to follow the immortal machine. Steeling myself I climb the trench, joining my brothers and sisters to victory!

United
The human species is by far the most individualistic species in the galaxy. The territory the humans have does not belong to the Human Empire, as it would with most species, rather it is simply Human Territory, because there are several independent empires in it. All of witch are human empires. They themselves on ocasion fight for territory against there human neighbors, gaining and losing it constantly. Traffic in the form of transports and radio signals are a constant from the human territory, so when they slowly started to cease, our curiosity was naturally peeked. But even then we didn’t investigate, thinking nothing of it. Some of our councilors started getting worried, as with every hour, another planet would go dark. But there voices were ignored. After a day every human planet, from every human empire ceased sending out signals. Not even transports were moving around anymore, The silence from the human territory was unsettling more and more of the councilors. They argued that we should send some ships to investigate the uncharacteristic silence that is coming from the human territory. Saying that it is our responsibility to make sure that the young empires are all right, and in case they aren’t, that it is our responsibility as the largest union of empire in the galaxy to help. These councilors and there people have grown fond of the young human species. There diversity meant that every other empire would fined something they like in them, and the humans themselves are rather accepting of other empires, for the most part. As well the willingness of humans to come to the assistance of there allies has just worked to make them even more popular. When the Kriak Empire was under attack by the Bullik swarm, the humans came to there assistance only days after the first distress signal was sent. In fact multiple human fleets from different human empires came to assist the Kriak. They ignored the hostility between themselves and fought as one to save there mutual ally. When the Suraw suffered a empire wide pandemic, the human empires were amoung the first to begin relief efforts. And now, a large amount of the council species wanted to investigate this. Passionately demanding that we send at least one fleet to investigate. But there demands were dismissed, having been told that there species connection to the human species is clouding there thoughts. And that the humans are capable of protecting themselves. This only enraged the councilors, and there entire species as well. As they were demanding that a fleet be sent to investigate, with threats of taking action in to there own hands being given, even under the possibility of harsh repercussion.  For days they argued back and fourth. The split of taking action and of ignoring the situation was half half. The species that wanted to investigate were getting more and more restless. But all arguing stopped, as a large group of communication officers bursted in to the council room. All were silent as the com officers hastily made there way to the center and started to set up some equipment.  Once finished a hologram of the human territory was shown. With a single red flashing dot in the heart of there territory. In the area of space where one can find the Sol system. One of the com officers, a Tarum, roared “A distress signal has been picked up!” his voice echoed in the room. His eyes, and the eyes of most of the officers were fixated on the councilors that were opposed to sending a fleet to investigate. He didn’t bother hide how his claws twitched, openly showing his anger at those he was staring at. The council entered a uproar, but all were silenced as a single councilors voice filled the room “How long ago did you pick up the signal? And are you sure there are no mistakes?”  The Tarum looked at the councilor, a low growl escaping him “We picked it up mere moments ago, and there are no mistakes!” As a councilor opened his mouth a loud beeping sound interrupted him, the sound followed by a flash of red from the hologram. All turned and stared at the map, there eyes widening in surprise and horror as the map started to be flooded by red dots. Silence fell upon the room as none knew what to say. Every location where a human planet is, started to flash red. Something like this has never happened. Every planet of a species to be sending out distress signals? This had to be a joke. But then a audio recording played from Earth played, the voice of a human, with explosions and the sound of weapons fire in the background filled the ears of all those present “Requesting help! Does anybody copy?! We are under attack, the enemy entered human territory in mass and jammed our long range coms! We mana-” a loud explosion was heard that cut the human off. Moments later coughing could be heard as the humans voice was heard once more, now weak and barely audible “We....we managed to *cough* take out the flagship...it...it was jamming the signals. If....if anybody hea- *coughing* hears this. Pleas send help! Civilians are taking fire...we” A roar was heard from the coms, followed by the sound of gunfire, only for the signal to stop and static fill the room. After a few moments the sound of a fist hitting a desk is heard, followed by a roar. All turned to see the source being the Tarum councilor. Her eyes jumped to the officer that had informed them of the distress signals “Send word to our fleet immediately! We must get to the human territory as fast as we can!” The officer didn’t even have time to turn as another councilor protested, “Stop! You can not send fleets without the councils permission!” Her eyes landed on the councilor, with him gasping as he gazed upon them. Anger and hatred burned in her eyes “To hell with your council! We don’t have time for this! Every moment we spend here doing nothing the humans suffer more!” with her final words, she joined the officer and left to inform there empire. Moments later another councilor stood up and headed for the exit, and before anybody had the time to question him he spoke “I am going to inform our fleets. I do not care what the council wishes to say. As the council has failed its duty already. Remember well that we have formed this council to help insure our mutual safety, and the safety of our allies.”  With his final words more and more councilors stood to inform there own fleets. Threats of banishment from the council being ignored fully. A day after the distress signals were picked up fleets started to enter human territory. The fleets numbered in the hundreds, and the individual ships were so many, nobody cared to count. The largest fleet in the galaxies history had just entered the territory of the youngest species. A force the size one could hardly imagine. A Unity of the galaxies species, and all of them fighting side by side to save a single species from a enemy they have no information on.  The crew of those ships were ready to give there lives at a moments notice, there rage having devoured there fear. On that day the galaxy was filled with the screams of those foolish enough to attack the most liked species in the galaxy.

First and Last Contact
We don’t know why the war started. At the time, not for sure at least. For centuries our alliance thrived in the galaxy. We kept finding new species, adding them to the alliance, or if they are to dangerous....wiping them out. We did all we could to keep them and the galaxy as safe as possible. But there was one part of the galaxy we all stayed clear of. That pocket of the galaxy was filled with so many dangerous anomalies. At the beginning, while we didn’t know of its hostile nature, we did send scouts in. They never returned. For generations we questioned what took our scouts from us. And one day we got an answer. The answer was in the form of a recording. It showed one of our scouts in his cockpit seemingly exiting FTL. It showed him exploring for a few minutes, until the recording cut, and now showed what was outside of the cockpit.
He was approaching a black hole, most likely to scan it. As he got closer the black hole started to....move....deform. It split open, something like tentacles stare to emerge, followed by a large black mass that formed in to a head. Then, its eyes opened.... They stared at the scout ship, and moments later underneath the eyes, the black mass started to part. As if it was ripping its own flesh and skin open a mouth formed. And it roared. It roared in the vacuum of space. Not only does a creature exist that can survive in the vacuum of space, but it is capable of creating sound in a vacuum. A tentacle shot towards the scout and the feed cut off. From that day we stationed military ships on the border of that space, and quarantined it. Generation went by and the threat was forgotten. That is when our military ships started picking up signals from the deep void. The signals, sounding like chatter, was broken and distorted. We did all we could to understand them but, at the end, we just said it was another anomaly. Another generation passed. And the signals grew in number. Constantly they grew in number, we once more tried to figure out what they mean, but this time as soon as we began to investigate them, they all stopped. As if on the push of a button they stopped, and silence fell upon us. Nobody dared say anything, we didn’t understand why, but nobody dared say a word. As if our instincts were telling us to listen to the slightest hint of danger. That is when our electronics started to flicker, only for silence to fall and the main screen to be the only thing seemingly working. Static filled our ears, it lasted mere moments, but felt like years. On the screen, a figure was shown. The figure wore a blue uniform, medals decorating the left side of its chest. Its face held no fur or scales, only skin. And its skin was covered in scares. The figures eyes scanned all of us. Its eyes sending shivers down our spines. The silence wouldn’t last long as its mouth opened, the figures voice sounding feminine. “I am High Admiral Miranda Cole. I speak on the authority of the Union.” a uneasy silence fell as the admirals broadcast was being sent to every screen in the galaxy. “We have seen the worst and best life has to offer. We have seen its beauty and horror. In light of this we have taken it upon us to protect the beauty and klenz the horror. Stand down and you will not be harmed. This is your First and Last chance to cooperate.” Silence once more fell. Our leaders, having taken offence to such a insult, insulted the High Admiral in turn. The High Admiral, having received a answer, closed her eyes. And a look of sorrow came over her face. “You force our hands to spill blood we wish to preserve....” with her final words, the screens all over the galaxy return to normal. Following the High Admirals words, massive energy readings started to approach from the void. And moments later, a fleet the likes we could only dream of exited FTL. The fleet held ships that could be mistaken for moving space stations.  But behind the fleet, from a rift in space, a black mass entered our sight. The black ball started to deform and split open, until it showed the same monstrosity from our long lost scouts logs. The creature once more opened its mouth, and roared.... We didn’t admit it at the time, but we were facing defeat in the eyes, and its attention was only on us. Mere months later the alliance was no more. Only the Union remains, and with it, we entered a new Golden Age, where we even started to inhabit galaxies that aren’t our own.
