What was it like for Joan at the soccer game?
If Joan had the ability to interpret all the nuances of human emotions than she might have noticed that Steve was a little embarrassed about her being there, but Steve’s complete and total dedication to defending Eddie and all of his eccentricities overrides everything and that is a much louder emotion.
So, when someone makes a comment about it being a soccer game and not one of Eddie’s freakshows, Steve tears the guy’s whole vibe to pieces. Joan thinks that’s for her.
She is pleased.
She is not confined to the dreaded cat stroller either since Eddie brought her less dreaded harness and leash. She used the full extend of the leash to show her appreciation for Steve standing up for her by rubbing against his leg when he’s on the bench.
Though she is not thrilled when he dumps water over his head and it gets her too. She retreats back to Ozzy, Eddie, and Nancy after that.
Joan is actually really into the game. She follows the ball, darting back and forth with it as it goes up and down the field. Though her attention gets drawn elsewhere when a butterfly flies passed her in the grass and she chases after it.
Eddie is not as appreciative as he should be when she brings it to him in two pieces.
After the first half, since there were no butterflies left to hunt and Ozzy was working, Joan curled up in between Nancy and Eddie and let the warmth of the morning sun lull her into a nice sleep.

It be so funny if they took Joan to soccer game and put her either in the team colour or a cheerleading outfit.
Great minds think alike because I was just thinking that we having checked in with Joan in a while so this problem is perfect.
Every Saturday for over a month now, Joan has watched the humans and Ozzy leave the house in the morning and come back hours later loud, smelly, and energized. She does not have a problem with this per se but if she had eyebrows, she’d raise one of them. She would raise the other when they’re all too tired to play with her for too long after they come back.
So, Joan makes a decision.
When the next Saturday rolls around and Steve is digging around in the drier for his jersey, she makes her case known. She whines. She meows. She gets in the way of every step. She commits a drive-by biting. She even gets in the storage closet in the hallway and knocks over the dreaded cat stroller so it falls into the hallway.
She makes it very clear. She wants to go.
Eddie coos at her, “Awe, baby, she feels left out. Let’s take her.”
“Ed, it’s hot outside,” Steve replies, gesturing to Joan. She rubs her head against his leg. “She’s gray.”
“Steve, don’t be racist.”
“I’m not being – how is that –“ Steve sputters and then rambles on about tiny bodies, and fur, and overheating in the sun, but Joan already knows she got her way. Steve can’t say no to Eddie and he can’t say no to her either. Plus, she always gets her way.
Her way is the right way.
Steve sighs and gives in, “But if she gets too hot, you have to take her home.”
As a reward for Steve and Eddie’s good decision-making, Joan helps them get ready to leave. She wiggles her way into the cabinet with the first-aid kit and pulls out bandaids. She leaves them inside Steve’s cleats. He says thank you when he finds them.
Ozzy huffs from where he’s laying in his dog bed.
Joan purrs when Steve pets her head.
Since Eddie disappeared down into his studio the moment Steve agreed to let her come, Joan continues ‘helping Steve.’ Mainly, she cleans up (eats) all the scraps of lunchmeat he drops when making sandwiches for him, Eddie, Robin, and Nancy.
Eddie immerges from the studio ten minutes before they’re supposed to leave with a hastily sewed shirt made for a cat. It’s made out of the soft material of the cheer squad t-shirts he made for the other team members’ partners. He presents it first to Steve and then holds it out to Joan like, “Ta-dah.”
Joan sniffs the fabric – it smells like Eddie – and Steve is just like, “Why did you make that?”
“Because Joan’s got to represent, Stevie. We’re a jock family now and jocks wear their team colors,” Eddie insists, grin getting bigger when Steve rolls his eyes at him. “Everybody else is wearing team colors. Even Ozzy. See.”
He gestures to the pin attached to his yellow service dog vest that says ‘#1 Steve Harrington Defender.’ It’s right next to a patch that says ‘If You Pet Me, You Are A Part Of The Problem’ which is… “That’s new.”
“Yeah, I’m solving all the world’s problems today, baby,” He grins. “Isn’t that right, Joan?”
She hisses at the shirt.

Castlevania Nocture Thoughts
Watching Castlevania Nocture and I am plagued with Thoughts on so many things. I'm gonna ramble about things that Aren't That Deep so be warned.
First I have thoughts on them using Erzebeth Bathory as Main Bad Villain. Like not to sound as a Blood Countess Apologist but all we know about Bathory was speculated slander with no real evidence. I'll add some Wikipedia snipets to illustrate what I mean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Considering that Castlevania's Dracula gets afforded a humane complexity that wasn't provided by either Bram Stoker's Count Dracula or his historial counterpart Vlad The Impaler, it's strange a villified figure such as the Blood Countess wasn't given the same morally-nuanced treatment.
To add, a deconstruction of the Blood Countess would have provided the perfect opportunity to establish further parallels with Maria Antonia, Olympe de Gouges, and the already referenced Joan of Arc. It would have added more perspective to the Abbot's "revolution is bad!" speech, which at the moment is depicted as fear-mongering nonsence. Even though it did get out of hand.
I suposse it was a creative decision. They wanted to make "Countess Dracula" completely different from Dracula - a bit like he's a poor little meow meow while she's evil incarnate. So they made her a sadist with delusions of grandeur and practically the face of European War Crimes. Which would be ok, if it weren't because I have Thoughts™ on that too!
Why not consider the Marquis de Sade, who lived during the French Revolution, and was the literal creator of sadism? Or if they want to draw parallels with Joan of Arc, why not Gilles de Rais? Or! If we're talking about European Colonization, Christopher Columbus is right there!! I won't make a list but it seems there are so many more suitable candidates than Bathory to play this role.
I must admit my reservations, if taken into consideration, would play a different story than the one we have now. So they're not really constructive- but at least it's out of my system now.
Anyway I really enjoyed the show, and I can't wait to see what the second season has in store!

what alien species would the Musuem crew be in the NATM Star Trek AU? (If any)
i actually have some very strong opinions on this so buckle up. also i changed some of their jobs because i realized certain roles might actually fit them better (ive been rotating this au in my head for a while now)
Larry: obviously human, nicky is too. hes the Relatable Protag in natm and he will be in trek too. just your average first officer tbh
McPhee: also human. aggressively british captain who thinks his crew is insane.
Akh: i think hed be half vulcan half human, but unlike spock hes just a really chill dude who was raised only by his human parent. hes just a kid, probably a nurse
Kah: half romulan half vulcan captain, hes totally just out to get his younger half brother. takes great pride in his romulan heritage and constantly makes a big deal out of how his half brother is half human
Al: full romulan. id say hes probably kahs second in command
Ivan: also full romulan, likely a high ranking officer
Napoleon: also full romulan, id say security/weapons or the romulan equivalent of that role
Custer: human ensign, probably an engineer. he acts super confident all the time but really he is the embodiment of anxiety
Attilla: half klingon half human head of security. he likes ripping off peoples legs and by golly he has the clearance to do it in certain situations
Jed: definitely full human. probably one of the 2 guys steering the ship now that i think about it. he and oct are seated next to each other and always argue because of it
Octy: id say hes a vulcan. super serious and likes to act like hes above petty human bickering, but usually gets into dumb fights with jed anyways
Dexter: some kind of q-like entity who just floats around and causes chaos
Amelia: human space wanderer who just kinda shows up sometimes, almost like vash but minus the lawbreaking
Joan/Lance: i fully subscribe to the hc that lancelot and joan of arc are the same person pre and post transition. anyways shes a quarter vulcan and a security officer and super cocky about how it makes her smarter and more reasonable than everyone else (it absolutely does not)
Sacagawea: our beloved head surgeon!! id say shes half bajoran half human, and super proud of both halves of her heritage. also shes in a love triangle between joan/lance and teddy (they will end up in a throuple)
Teddy: chief engineer..the guy....totally just a regular human, but hes got a big heart and hes second officer. also hes just generally The Dad of the ship and everyone feels safe to go to him for advice
Rexy: cat. meow
also for the time frame of this crew id say they were serving sometime after tng, like maybe 5 or so years after

A little ramble about Joan and Morse...
[There will be spoilers if you haven't finished Endeavor]
A common take I've seen in this fandom is that Joan was waiting around for him. That Morse had all these chances he didn't take to express his feelings. So her shutting him down in S5/S6 was totally his own fault. I disagree with this and don't really understand it.
Here's why:
They only start getting to know each other properly in S2, and Morse has a girlfriend at that point.
Morse becomes aware of his feelings for Joan at the end of Coda, and he went to the Thursdays' house immediately after. It seemed like he intended to talk about it with Joan, but she was clearly traumatized, and not in a place to deal with romantic declarations. She'd already decided she was leaving. What if he said how much he cared and then she was gone? When you think about the abandonment issues this guy has, and the fact she is literally leaving him in that moment, can you blame him for being afraid?
Nevertheless, he's openly welling up in front of her (a very odd thing for a man in the mid-60s to do) and telling her if she needs anything to let him know. There's no way a woman wouldn't pick up on this. Not to mention constantly putting her life before his at the bank.
When Joan contacts him in the vaguest form possible, it's enough for him to do exactly what he said he would. He goes out of his way to find her and indicates there's something between them that can happen. He tells her he cares what happens to her and whether or not she's in his life. Joan makes him leave.
Morse proposes to her. She says no and specifically cites her dad as a reason it would be a bad idea. When the phone rings, Morse is willing to let it go. She's the one who picks it up, brings it to him, and leaves before he can do anything about it.
Even though he doesn't stay at the hospital, the Doctor presumably would've told her he stopped by.
When she moves back to Oxford, he gives her some space, which is entirely correct given what she's been through. He takes up her invitation to her party and makes sure he is there. He's clearly eager at the chance to spend time with her. But then she tells him she wants to set him up with someone else.
Eventually Morse can't take any more rejection, especially with Claudine having left him. He's gotten the message Joan was sending him and lets it go. This is when Joan decides to ask for a coffee. It's the first time she actually initiates something and given the context I think it's perfectly understandable for Morse to turn the offer down? It's fair enough if he doesn't want to get hurt again, isn't it? Idk, Joan's timing here rubbed me the wrong way. It was the mature thing for him to do and showed he saw her as more than a rebound.
Finally, a few weeks later Morse realizes in Icarus that life is too short and takes her up on it, but now she says she's sick of waiting around.
The fan reaction I saw with that moment was, "Yeah you tell him Joan! Fuck him!" And it made me go "???". It's true it wasn't the best timing on his part, but it's not as if he had a habit of turning up when it suited him. She was the one stringing him along, wanting his attention one minute and then rejecting it the next. She could've said she was busy and they could do it some other time in the week. Her reaction was way too harsh.
Don't get me wrong, I love Joan and am by no means the type to view Morse as a poor little Meow Meow who can do no wrong. However, I feel like it's super unfair to put it all on him when Joan was going through her own problems and has her own difficulties expressing herself. He gave her countless opportunities to open up, and she pushed him away. At a certain point, it'd be weird if he ignored her wishes and kept attempting to pursue her. It wouldn't be a good look if he tried stopping her from marrying his friend either. As far as he knows, she's moved on.
Morse may have had trouble saying it out loud, but his actions spoke volumes. Surely that counts for something? He also wrote her that incredibly romantic letter in Zenana and straight up said "Please believe me to have been yours, always". Keep in mind again this is a British man in the 60s-70s and the men around Joan so far have been deeply repressed. Seems pretty forward to me! I simply don't believe this wouldn't spark curiosity in Joan to figure out what he meant. That she'd just wait around until Morse came to visit her to ask about it, and that seeing him in the state he's in, she'd leave it there. This woman who wants passion, who's independent, who cares about the people in her life, who knows how it feels to be saving face while suffering inside, and her literal job involves helping children come to terms with their trauma. Her total passive behavior towards Morse doesn't make sense! Like it doesn't even have to be romantic! They can interact as friends!
He carries a ton of trauma and emotional baggage which makes him terrified of losing what he has with her. Not to mention his respect for Thursday. I don't see why we can't have empathy for both of them.
And yeah, he was being a dick in S6 but again, he's allowed to be angry and in fact it's healthy for him to actually let it out rather than having this idealized view of Joan forever or holding it in like he usually does.
Btw, with his previous behavior taken into account, him not showing up in Uniform was highly unusual and should've been a "What's happened to him?" moment for Joan. Not, "Classic Morse. Works comes first."
Anyway, sorry for the essay and thank you if you read all of it. I just wanted to get all my thoughts together in one place.

for the character ask game: you know I had to pick Silas! 4, 14, and 21!
our favorite little mayo meow meow 😌💖
4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
okay so the truest version in my heart is one of my own unpublished novels but there would be no frame of reference, just know that it's really good, also scifi, and puts silas in a position of power over colum so severe that he could kill him which is important to me 👍 and it would give colum a collar, which would be cool (to me). it wouldn't be explicitly a religious thing but i could fix this by making it a religious obligation to their family, specifically, which would be doubly cool to me. also colum would have had to go through an incredibly painful several years of injections and physical training which has a severe risk of brain damage, so that also feels like a good fit for the two of them.
my second answer, the real one, is uh,, i think silas would make an amazing and hilarious ace attorney character. i wish i were kidding, but i think that is my final answer.
14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.
idk if this one means "what i think he would wear" or "what i want to see him in" so i'll answer it for both. to me, in a modern au, silas octakiseron would wear khakis and collared shirts, i'm so fucking sorry ajkdfjsadklfjsalfs i know, i'm crying too. he'd wear proper suits for church and formal occasions, well tailored but modest too, very traditionally cut. i want to see him in frills and lace, however. these are very different things, alack and alas.
in canon, i'd say silas is pretty "Joan of Arc" in my brain, for some inexplicable reason.
21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
oh the religiously-flavored brain twisties are my favorite part for sure. anyone who's known me for a while knows that mental gymnastics are like, KING for me lol. but there are lots of other things i like about silas too; i grew up very religious (in the xtian way) so there's a lot to him that i fortunately or unfortunately relate to. something i don't like (i do like it but it drags me into so many extra words that i never fucking plan for lol) is that he's always picking fights for no goddamn reason, judgmental little bitch that he is.

“Outside a rambling store-front window
Cats meowed to the break of day
Me, I kept my mouth shut
To you, I had no words to say
My experience was limited and underfed
You were talking while I hid
To the one who was the father of your kid
You probably didn't think I did
But I heard
You say, that love is just a four-letter word.”
