when your children are still babies, they get so so upset when gojo comes home and doesn’t immediately pick them up. your baby has recently learned that the sound of the front door opening and closing usually signals the return of their father so tonight, when the door opens, your baby’s head perks up. when he finally takes his shoes off and makes his way into the home, he spots his little angel on the couch. “hi baby!” he coos at them with a smile on his face and his hands full with some packages. “let me go put these down and i’ll be right back!” he tries to explain, to which your baby just obliviously smiles at, just happy to see their father and know that he’s giving them attention. but when they realize that he’s leaving their sight and didn’t immediately pick them up… oh have mercy. it becomes a shit storm because who does he think he is?? to not give his baby all his time and attention! gojo comes running back into the living room confused as to why they’re crying but as soon as he picks them up, they stop crying and start giggling. what a dramatic little baby you’ve been blessed with. the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree ig

SHUT UPPPPP because you know Satoru loves the attention too, they’re a perfect match together bye. All you can do is stand, bemused, as Satoru picks up the baby and almost instantly quells his crying, rocking him back and forth before stretching his arms to hold the kid at eye level with him and cooing, “Oh, I’m sorry my love, I missed you too, soooooo much,” Satoru bends his arms to brush their noses together and grin at the giggles the baby emits, “You missed me too, yeah? Aren’t you the sweetest little thing, missing me like that? So precious.” Satoru covers the baby in kisses and sweet words for nearly five straight minutes and they both love to bask in each other’s attention (you have the videos to prove it).
Something kinda funny tho is… you’re 98% sure your son can tell that Satoru will give into quickest lmfaoo. Your baby cries sometimes when you have to leave him, sure, and can definitely throw a fit when he wants your attention—but he seems to know to cry (or squeal, or babble, or screech) on demand for his sucker of a father. Nanami, Shoko, Megumi, and Yuuta (your on rotation band of baby sitters) have noticed that the kid loves to be held and has no shame gesturing for it—but they’ve never experienced the baby crying when they so much as step away for a moment, unless he’s hungry or needs to be changed. You don’t have the heart to tell Satoru he’s being played tho, so you just let them have their moment <333 (not that it would matter, Satoru can’t stand to see your kid cry in any capacity, so he’d go right back to giving in; plus it’s a win-win in his book anyway: baby stops crying, and he gets cuddles from his son).
(Then again, you think the need and love for attention might just be genetic, because Satoru has cried big tears a handful of times just leaving you and your baby at home for a few hours).

snippet!!
thank you to my dearest most precious beloved angels @sixlane @themuseoftheviolets @quillkiller @effiepotterisamilf @orbitfalls for the tags <33 sorry about how late this is but i come bearing a long-ish bartylily snippet to maybe make up for that... everyone say hiiiii library fic!! it is sooo happening baby
There’s someone in the back room, a man lounging in one of the chairs around the little circular table. Specifically in the chair which she normally sits in when she eats her breaktime yoghurts, but she supposes she doesn’t really have a claim to it, being as she’s been gone for two months, and it’s not actually her chair. She doesn’t recognise this man though, and he doesn’t look at all like the kind of person you might expect or want to find in a library, let alone in the back room as if he were an employee.
He doesn’t look over as she comes in, just keeps flipping a stack of coasters up off the edge of the table and catching them mid-air, as if he were at a pub instead of in the back room of Lily’s library, flipping beer-mats instead of Ms. Pince’s nice ceramic coasters.
She takes her coat off and hangs it on the same hook as always, the second one from the left, wondering if she should do something about this stranger who she thinks might be trespassing, in a library of all places.
He’s wearing a kind of grotty, oversized hoodie that’s definitely seen better days, judging from it’s off-grey colour and how mangled the cuffs are, and what might be the tightest pair of black jeans she’s ever seen, replete with rips and a chain, clinging to what might be the longest pair of legs she’s ever seen. He’s like if one of those ‘unconventional’ editorial models had been living in a skip for a few years, like if the guy that you saw out with a different girl every single time you went to the club had done a truly heinous home dye job and turned emo.
He is not the sort of man that Lily would ever want to have in her immediate vicinity.
And he’s sitting in Lily’s chair, in Lily’s library, encroaching on the sanctity of it. Not to mention messing with Ms. Pince’s fancy coasters.
“Excuse me,” she says, because, really, he had nearly dropped the stack with that last flip and she can’t just let some random man hang around in the employee-only area.
He glances over at her, still flipping the fucking coasters, looks her up and down, and then grins. He doesn’t say anything, just stares at her, grinning widely, teeth on display, eyes lit up like she’s just told him that he’s won the lottery. He has annoyingly perfect teeth.
Lily frowns, “What are you doing?”
no pressure tags for some more of my dearest most precious beloved angels @inevitablestars @static-radio-ao3 @fernhelm @itsjaywalkers @carniferous

Thinking about how Thancred and Ryne's respective behaviours affect their dynamic and each other's behaviour in regards to said dynamic and how neither of them is actually directly caused by the circumstances, just exacerbated.
Thancred is reticent and guarded as a product of his enviourment and all his training and work as a spy, where vulnerability is a weakness and is like to get you and your loved ones hurt or killed. He's never had an opportunity or need to be open and vulnerable with people, as everyone he was close to either didn't need it as badly (like Minfilia, who had F'lhaminn as her primary source of emotional support, and could already see just how much Thancred cared for her even if he couldn't actually show it properly) or worked close with him and knew that this was necessary (like the Circle/Scions).
Ryne values everyones thoughts and feelings over her own because she was raised by Ran'jit, who viewed her more as an object of his repeated losses and grief of those he couldn't protect before her. She's more a memento than a person, and so she's been told her entire life that her feelings and opinions don't matter in the slightest. She never got the chance to learn they mattered either, because she spend the last 3 years almost entirely alone with Thancred who never indicated either way.
And when these two are put against each other they end up feeding the root problems. Thancred's emotional distance makes Ryne assume he doesn't care about her and by extention, her thoughts and feelings. Ryne's over-valuing of his words make him even more reluctant to speak up because he doesn't want to sway her any given way, which is exactly what would happen because she values his feelings so much.
It's an endless and terrible cycle that neither are really able to break out of on their own. It's not really either one's fault but it still falls to them to deal with it. They can't break it themselves but they also can't have it broken by anyone else either. They have to both be confronted about it and realize that this is never going to work. Thancred needs to learn he can't just keep saying "not today" and Ryne needs to learn that regardless of her view of herself she can't let other's feelings decide her life for her. Vulnerability isn't a weakness nor is self-destructive sympathy a strength.

Don't get me wrong. Tears of the Kingdom is a fantastic game. I'm still having so much fun with it. It delivered on so many fronts. It has my favorite final boss in the series. And the new mechanics really do make BotW feel like a tech demo.
But.
My Big Complaint is: TotK should not have been a sequel to BotW.
(spoilers below the cut!)
I understand why they did it, and think it was inevitable. Getting to reuse the assets and maps saved so much time. And BotW was such a huge success that they couldn't not give it a sequel.
But seriously, what the heck?
TotK's storytelling basically ignored or erased everything that happened in BotW. What happened to the Sheikah tech that was literally everywhere? The Divine Beasts that had been plaguing the four regions for a century? Zelda's incorporeal battle with evil incarnate for 100 years and the inevitable trauma she and Link must have after everything that's happened to them? Nah we don't talk about that. Half the NPCs don't even know who Link is despite having plenty of canonical interactions.
And I'm like, ok, I get it, sure. We are so 100% into this new plot we don't have time to explain away the old stuff and I'll just have to deal with it. All right, sure! BotW had very cool and well crafted lore, I'm sure TotK will too! I can't wait for this airtight new story!
Except 🤨
Who are the Zonai actually? Why did they come to Hyrule and from where? Why do we only meet two of them? If Rauru and Sonia are the first of the Royal Family, is she part of the goddess' bloodline (a direct descendant of SS Zelda)? Did she die childless? If they had a child, was it distinctly half Zonai? SO MANY GANONDORF QUESTIONS I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START??!?! What's the deal with the secret stones anyway? Who made them? Why do they cause draconification? Is that what happened to Dinraal, Farosh, and Naydra? The Sheikah Shrines were trials left behind by devoted monks who underwent self mummification to train the Hero, but what's the deal with the Zonai ones again? And if they're supposed to be for Link too, when did Rauru have time to build them? And like the Depths?! Make zero sense??!
I could go on and on. As much fun as this game is and as cinematic as a lot of it was, the whole thing is riddled with holes and would've been SO MUCH BETTER if they just made it its own pocket universe like they did with Termina. Trying to have it make sense in the world BotW already established is impossible, and honestly just sort of like. Disrespectfully shoves BotW's dead body off a cliff and hopes no one finds the remains.
So, yeah! Great game! Beefy cutscenes! Fantastic ending! Awesome mechanics! But really really disappointing BotW erasure.
(I also feel like it suffered from trying to follow the same open world formula? Lots of people found the Tears in the wrong order and felt like they spoiled the story for themselves. And the way you were going around doing "search for Zelda" sidequests when you knew where she was but couldn't tell anyone seemed like an oversight. And I wouldn't have minded some more traditional dungeons, like what the Fire and Lightning temples had going on, but just, like. More.)

I would love to learn more about Alfred’s beliefs and why he does what he does re: enabling Bruce’s mission, helping the Robins and even directly giving Tim and Damian the suits. I’ve read fics where he’s like ‘i can’t stop you but i can at least help you stay safe’ but that doesn’t make enough sense of his actions for me. Do you have any thoughts on this, or recs of comics/posts/fics where this is explored? Thanks, i love your deep dives! No pressure tho ofc 💌
Alfred is difficult like most comics characters it really depends on who is writing him that decides what the finer points of his personality and relationship with Bruce are, some writers really like playing up the father son thing while others will make alfred a bit colder and focus more on alfred seeing himself as more of an employee and how this may negatively affect his relationship with Bruce and how much he's willing to push back on things like batman
Personally I enjoy it more when alfred will tell himself I'm just the butler but really he does see himself as a father to bruce and Bruce sees him as nothing but a father figure, I also enjoy when alfred is more believes in what Bruce is doing then pushing back considering as you said the things we've seen alfred do he is the one half the time handing out these costumes - alfreds background as well is kinda strange he was in the military then he went to mi5 and finally ended up an actor before his dad kicked it and he decided fuck it I'm gonna be the butler for the same family my dad worked for - this to say he's not the most normal guy out there
