My observations playing 'The Last Guardian' for the first time
The stained glass eyes make The Nest like a surveillance prison. Big Brother is watching you. Inspirations for The Nest – I Carceri by Piranesi, Nineteen Eighty-Four, Kung Fu Panda, Avatar.
I showed footage of the game to an art historian and he said the architecture looked like it was inspired by Indian temples, Angkor Wat and Palenque. Piranesi was supposedly inspired by Roman ruins with vines and trees growing over them.
There's a noise the boy makes when he’s climbing that sounds exactly like Link when he lands from too great a height in Ocarina of Time.
Movies Fumito Ueda might have been inspired by -
The Jungle Book – Mowgli is raised by wolves and needs to get back to the man-village, King Louie's lair is an Indian temple ruin. The Neverending Story - Falkor The Rescuers Down Under – the runway scene Kung Fu Panda – the prison Avatar - outdoor areas of The Nest make me think of Pandora, Toruk (the flying creature).
Movies inspired by The Last Guardian -
Jumanji: The Next Level – the apparatus in the scene with the apes. The Last Guardian is also referenced in the first movie when the poster for the game is shown on someone’s wall.

Rani Ahilyabai Holkar :
Rani Ahilyabai Holkar :

currently reading (at snail’s pace)
i’ve never juggled between such vastly different, yet equally heavy genres before. one boggles my mind with yet another unexplored aspect of indian history, another makes me realise how little i know about the world, and the last one could’ve just been a twitter thread.
“we said goodbye to our mothers. they’d been around all our lives, but we’d never properly seen them. they’d been bent over washing tubs or cooking pots, their faces red and swollen from heat and steam, holding everything together while our fathers were away at sea, and nodding off every night on the kitchen chair, with a darning needle in hand. it was their endurance and exhaustion we knew, rather than them."

The Martand Sun Temple, Kashmir
Dedicated to Lord Surya, Hinduism's principal sun god; Surya Dev is also recognized through his Sanskrit name Martand.
It was made by King Lalitaditya in around 5th Century A.D. and it was destructed by Muslim ruler Sikander Butshikan, under the advice of Sufi preacher Mir Muhammad Hamadani. It is believed that the was so strongly built that it took many days for its destruction.

The temple has a colonnaded courtyard, with its primary shrine in its center and surrounded by 84 smaller shrines, stretching to be 220 feet long and 142 feet broad total and incorporating a smaller temple that was previously built.
The primary shrine is located in a centralised structure (the temple proper) that is thought to have had a pyramidal top - a common feature of the temples in Kashmir. Various wall carvings in the antechamber of the temple proper depict other gods, such as Vishnu Ji and river goddesses, such as Mata Ganga and Mata Yamuna, in addition to the sun-god Surya Dev.

The Kailasa temple in Maharashtra India is a rock cut temple (one of many) and this one in particular is carved out of one single rockspace. It is in fact the largest rock cut (a whole Indian style) one out of the thirty-four in Ellora Caves -Just the grandeur, skill, and size of all this is awing.
Peak of Indian rock cut architecture.

There's a whole anti hindutva anti casteist pro LGBTQ desiblr space going strong on tumblr AND I HAD NO IDEA!
Tell me why I was so fckn upset over all of desiblr suddenly being bigoted and casteist when there's a whole faction of cool desis just thriving on here? The only good thing that stupid fckn m*ndir did was show me who to trust on desiblr, ngl
