doing prompts of any day that has already past and combining as i please... tried doing it day by day but i just can't. if you can't do a daily -tober challenge, don't feel bad; i don't even have a real job and i can't keep up with this shit. plus, i feel like doing whatever the hell i want is more in the vein of being cringe, anyway.
i'm really glad there is a resurgence in 00's internet culture (though typing it out, i realize a lot of these prompts are more 2010's, though the aesthetic of the post is more 00s). it makes sense for a lot of reasons. but i think it's also worth recognizing, as someone who grew up in it, this was not some golden past, either. there is no golden past. the internet in the 00's was just as, if not more, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, generally dangerous, and overall shit as it is today. so i encourage people to create a better web and a better world!

I’m 99% sure you did a redraw of daffy (and bugs?) in his gay little outfit and dance in the Bugs Bunny Show intro but I can’t for the life of me find it. Did you do this or am I hallucinating
I WOULD SAAAAY 85% HALLUCINATING AND 15% MISREMEMBERING! the only Bugs Bunny Show related thing i've drawn was this quick doodle of Porky back in 2021
it took me a few years--as in like, within the past year and a half--to come around to TBBS because i was that incensed Porky wasn't in the intro (very level-headed reaction). soooooooooo as a result i haven't really drawn anything involving it. BUT I PLAN TO CHANGE THAT! i'm planning on making a nod to it in a project i'm doing so not all hope is lost.
EITHER WAY i am very honored you would think of me/associate me with that regardless! i'm glad i've hit the point where people can make up things they think i've drawn. my wording is facetious but the sentiment is genuine, that is very flattering!!

oh, I've had a hunch that Sanji got... cranked up to 11 in the anime. after OPLA I became manga-only reader, as I wanted the rawest possible OP experience and also bcuz reading is quicker than watching the anime 😅 (I'm still not even halfway through -- recently started Impel Down -- but it is such a great story, I already love it so much!!!) but I also started dipping my toes into the fandom. and I saw people hating Sanji for being a gross pervert. but while reading the manga, this man gave me more of a love-sick puppy vibes??? all the swooning and fussing over Nami and Robin seemed almost sweet (him running towards them with flowers in Skypiea or cotton candy in Long Ring Island? c'mon, that was adorable) he has his moments but they aren't even that bad, tbh. I wondered that maybe it was a misguided hate towards his special treatment for women (chivalry?????) rankling feminists, tired of men treating women like wilting flowers in constant need of man-help but no, people seemed very dead-set on him being a straight up pervert and I realised... oh, those are anime fans... oh, no... what happened here, and I got discouraged from trying to watch the anime, since if it changed Sanji, one of the main characters, it was very likely to change other things, especially given how old the anime is. and then I realised that it already changed things even in the first episode and I kind of... stuck to the manga for now. maybe I will watch some movies just to see the One Piece world prettily animated 🤔

First of all, some recommendations for you so you can enjoy the animation ^^
If you want to enjoy One Piece animated with an "Oda feel", watch the movie "Strong World". The script is written by Oda and you can watch it after finishing Thriller Bark.
Like with the rest of the movies, the content is not Canon content, so what you see on them doesn't really happen in the real One Piece story (even if some of the enemies pasts are canon), but this one is the best and more on character we can probably see.
After that, Oda was executive producer in "Film Z" (supposed to be after FishMan Island Arc, but preferably after Punk Hazard Arc to avoid spoilers) and "Gold" (watch after Dressrosa Arc).
His involvement with these movies is not so big, tho, so watch them with that in mind.
(For example, in "Gold" Oda only rewrote the script of the climax of the story, because he was specially unsatisfied with how that part was done. They had to redraw the last 10min of the movie OvOu)
Also he was a producer in "Red" (watch after Wano Arc), and he made a lot of interesting comics and things that are canon pre-Movie... but the Movie on itself is weird. They changed many things of his initial notes and the characters are very "out of character" in my opinion.
It has very good music and animation, tho! But yeah... watch with caution ^^U
(I was not gonna mention it at first, but why not... there is also "Stampede", but "Oda stated that he would not have allowed the movie's story to be produced if it was not a commemoration of the anime's 20th anniversary." So... I wouldn't watch it if you expect anything that makes sense in his world or characters xDU)
(You also have the OVA "One Piece - Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack", which pre-dates Toei's Anime adaptation. Oda took a lot of interest in this OVA, and he praised it a lot when it came out in 1998)

And second, in my opinion, you made the right decision going to the Manga! As you say, it is the best way to get the rawest version of the story. And also way faster to read it than to watch it xD

And now, oh boy, about Sanji... (this is gonna be a very reduced and fast thing I'm gonna write, but I plan on analyze the differences between the Manga and Anime in this other tumblr, if you want to see more eventually):
Your hunch is completely correct. Sadly Sanji's character is completely obliterated in the Anime ^^U
He is reduced to his perverted side (and very veery amped up), or to being mean and fighting all the time. He has nothing of the kindness he shows in the Manga, only the things they can not exclude for the story to make sense. The many fillers also show a different Sanji than the one shown in the Manga.
The Anime also shows Nami completely disgusted by him very often, which influences the way we see him as viewers. She just treats him like a slave when she is being "nice".
(Nami is also very different in the Anime. They all are different people in the Anime, honestly u_uUU)
So yes, I think most of people who hate him for being gross and a pervert mainly have their first and only contact being the Anime. And it is understandable feeling like that, because it is seriously a bad representation of the character. He is not himself at all.
The Anime reaches an even more unpalatable degree after the time-skip.

[((Little Spoiler of right After Time-Skip: Sanji comes back more sensitive to pretty women in the Manga, which translates into many nosebleeds until he recovers. But in the Anime they had always shown him in that level of pervert, or even worse! So they had to amp it even MORE and show him harassing random women and everyone being disgusted around him... something that doesn't happen in the Manga! It makes the character really stand out in grossness))]

As you say, Sanji in the Manga is a sweet guy, and only shows as a real pervert sometimes... but it is shown in a funny way. And Nami and Robin react in a non-negative way, mostly just amused that he is such a dummy. But everyone knows he is just harmless.
He totally acts like a love-sick puppy and has those sweet romantic outburst, but he can be a normal human being. And most importantly, treats them mainly as friends and human beings.

"Wisteria...?" Noir called out to the mismagius seeing the face as he gulped "You are wisteria correct ?" he asked almost carefully the feeler reaching out to the ghost type giving soft caress on cheek "What happened...?" he was stunned to see the emotionless pokemon before shaking his head pulling Ivy in a gentle hug "Sorry, I didnt mean to ask so bluntly... I feel like you need this..." he chuckled softly "Im here for you, you know ?"
Ivy seemed to calm down at the Sylveon's reassuring words, she just nervously looked away and muttered a faint "I'm sorry."
She cringed as his ribbon touched her cheek, for some odd reason, the ghost was expecting something worse.
Though she wasn't sure why. From what she could recall about him, Noir wasn't a cruel or mean Pokemon. Though she couldn't be sure, her memories of them were a bit hazy.
Ivy instantly backed away at the question, she looked like she was about to say something but quickly went silent. Her gaze fell to the floor as she refused to answer. Noir didn't seem to push the matter either much to her relief.
However, She didn't have time to react before Noir pulled her into a loving but firm hug.
She quietly sniffled as tears began streaming down her face, it'd been so long since she cried. Years even, now that she was she couldn't seem to stop herself.
As all the memories began to flood back Ivy cuddled into Noir's hug, despite the sudden emotional pain she was hit with, she was glad someone she knew from the past was here to at least soothe it.
→ Ivy will now respond "normally" to those who know her as Wisteria.
→ Noir has been added to her [Family] on the Relationships Page.

I'm also happy to say this will be the last Ivy-related ask I will be answering (for now). For those sick of Ivy, I'm sure you're very glad to hear that. I love her a lot, and I'm very annoying about it. I understand. I know you've all stuck with me this long and I'm very thankful for that, especially with my ups and downs of returning only to disappear into the void again.
I did have a majority of the "Pretender" arc drawn and sketched and ready to go but I scrapped it due to a random sudden hate for how my art style looked. I unfortunately still have a lot of confidence issues with my art that I'm trying to work through.
I just want y'all to know all of your love for my art and story really helped me gain it back. Knowing people like my content brings me so much joy, I hope I can continue to share the world and story I've built with everyone here.

:o i am Looking (pun absolutely intentional)
THERES SO MANY COOL DETAILS IN THE BACKGROUND
YESS!!! Thank you Tumblr people for letting me rant about my own art for a bit.
I have to go to the city today which is about an hours away. Let's hope I can get through everything I wanna say before then :)) Already gonna say, this'll be a long post so I'll put it all under a cut.
For context, this is the piece I'll be talking about. It's a redraw of an older piece I did for The Magnus Archives podcast.
Ok so, where to start... I suppose just with setting up all the details in the background? That took ages!! Imagine having to cram 14 fears into one small box, where only 2/3rds of it are visible? I excluded the Extinction for my own benefit, and the Eye and Web were covered by the giant eye at the top and the webbing at the bottom of the piece. So only 12 fears, but still that was a real struggle haha. I'm glad I was able to do it tho. Here's some of the drafts I did:

I knew I wanted the Vast to be on top, because, well obviously. It's the Vast! And likewise, for the Buried to be on the bottom. But everything else was kinda mixed in wherever I had space. My favorite mini domain is the Strangers carousel!! I'm also particularly proud of the Slaughters war trenches below it.
Moving on, I wanna talk about the coloring now!! BOY HOWDY, DID THAT GIVE ME STRESS!!! For reference, here's some of the variations I made while trying to find the perfect colors:

GOING IN ORDER!!! first one is obviously not colored. That's just the lineart with a random color as the bg. Second and third ones I discredited cuz it didn't fit tma vibes. The fifth one is one I kinda still do like. The only problem with that one was that Jon and Martin were a bit too dark for my liking. The gold frames one next to that is one of my favorite ones. I color picked from the Mona Lisa for that one. I do like the gold frame but again, jmart didn't fit the vibe. The next few are random variations with slightly different color palettes and values.
What I ended up settling for in my final piece is honestly so beautiful in a symbolic way to me. The fear domains inside the frame were done in colors from the original piece from 2021. Kind of like an homage to my past self. Like I'm giving my past self credit for making a good drawing by including actual elements from that directly into this revamped version. I was so happy when I figured that out. It's especially lovely considering that I was struggling so much with coloring this whole thing. But looking back at the old piece made me realize that I just had to go back to my roots. I'm learning from a me that I no longer am and I feel so happy for that!
With that, thank you for letting me ramble about this drawing. It may not have came out perfect like I'd hoped, but I did make something I can be proud of while still honoring the original. And I'm happy with it :)

ok! little wrap-up because i did end up doing inktober after all (as OCtober) and while it probably was a mistake to try to balance complex pieces while also moving and taking very little time off of work to do so, i did finish everything up in less than 30 minutes after midnight, so basically still october for me.
you can see all the pieces i did here. some have explanations, some don't. most are my OCs, three are shared, two are other people's and one is a fanart redraw. close enough! I'll leave that last one out so i can slap an even 30 image uploads onto this post :)

i think in spite of the toll i let this take on my health and like uhhh everything this is actually probably my most successful inktober to date? previously 2018 was my favorite, but there's genuinely not a piece here that i'm not proud of in some way. i learned a lot over the course of this and picked up some new stuff as well, so all in all i'm glad i did it!
bonus is that because i (mostly) did my own OCs, i kinda forced myself to expect an audience of myself and me only, and that was actually sooo fulfilling after these past few years.
probably won't be drawing for a bit, just because i finally am going to go unpack and organize all my stuff, and i've got some tournament work that needs doing but i'll see you all the next time i see you :D hope you've all been well and i'm chucking this baton at any nanowrimo writer that'll take it haha

new trend on youtube shorts and i guess probably tiktok with artists going "this is my old drawing of [thing]" and then ripping it in two to redraw it and i just.
is it worth it. is it worth destroying the thing that past you spent so much time and effort and love on. the thing past you was proud of. the thing you were so proud of that you kept it, in some cases since childhood. did you get the likes, did you get the follows. did the imaginary internet points make you happy. will you look back in five years and go "gee i'm so glad i tore up my old artwork for 100k thumbs up on youtube".
not to like monologue about it but it's baffling to me. you can just redraw the thing without destroying the original. it's so sad to see again and again from a dozen different accounts, for a trend

this is super late but I wanted to do it :DD
1.That’s super hard I’m proud of a bunch of art I’ve made last year and proud of how much I improved and accomplished with my art. Especially in the last half the year. But the one piece that when I looked back and think of when I really started to improve is THIS ONE. And it’s definitely not my ‘Best’ piece from this year it’s the one I’m the proud of in the sense that, this is when I really started to improve and experiment with my art style and so I think it’s a pretty solid one to be proud of.
2. Like I said I’m proud of a bunch of stuff I have made this year. A lot of which was for comics and aus that other people made. But I did start a au of my own last year that I’m excited about that and I’d like to share. I haven’t made any actual comic or anything for it yet but I’m proud of the stuff I have :P

2020
My obsession with AU's still hasn't changed at all. I really miss my traditional sketches because nowadays I draw digitally and I abuse the heck out of ctrl+z and my sketches take like x4 longer lmao.
Also I am pretty proud of my edit of The Merciless. I still rewatch it from time to time (and cry about it haha).
2021
Man I kind of miss my Loki show era. I was literally pumping out art every second day for like two weeks. I liked this one in particular because I actually allowed myself to calm down and complete it across a few days, whereas these days I only allow one day for each art (because adhd - out of sight out of mind lol). (x)
2022
Last piece of art using Procreate before I switched to CSP. My goal with this piece is to replicate the 山水畫 (shan shui) style and I actually achieved what I wanted :D (x)
Dot pen my beloved! My second art using CSP. I remember drawing this while giggling like a maniac. Drawn during my honeymoon phase with Formula 1. Good times. (x)
I had so much fun abusing the grid snapping and straight line tools. I was exclaiming things like "wow technology is great" haha. Also first time I thought to myself that I wouldn't mind having a keychain of my own work hehe (x)
This one is like, my magnum opus. I don't think I'll ever be able to top this (or have the patience again lmao) (x)
I think this is the first time I actually vibed with my own art? Like wow I can actually feel warm and fuzzy looking at my own creation? (and now knowing Seb is retiring makes me even more emotional) (x)
Another art where I achieved my initial goal and drew something that I'm happy with (look I even added watermark and signed it lol) I also manually drew the background (because I couldn't find a png file that didn't have to pay for lmao) and I liked how it turned out! (x)
I always wanted to do a redraw of that bisexual anne hathaway photoshoot and I finally did it with my current blorbos! This one was initially going to be full b&w but I'm glad I decided to add the red last minute (x)

It’s funny you mention that, because I was looking at old art recently and also saw how much I’ve improved. Hell, while I’m drawing sprites and emotes I’ve noticed I’ve improved again and it’s making me wanna redraw everything lol since my current style is outdated :’)

this was a comm for kiz, but i think it came out pretty bomb. any hypsters who are into projmoon/projmoon fans into hypmic pspspsps --
actually i think this was my first ever piece this year, so it's interesting to see how much i've improved in over the past couple of months!
also i did some comms between feb and may to help raise some money for my relatives in the philippines, but i don't think i should post the ones i really like since the project isn't complete yet. but i think they came out bomb too, trust me -- (the volo art in my art summary is one of these comms lol)

i think i went rly hard in august. august was really a turning point for me this year too i think, so maybe my art reflected that haha, but anyhow. i really love these
everyone and their mom has done a religious jakurai art, but i wanted to do one too... the detail i rly like is the blood on his hands. because i like to headcanon that jakurai has vitiligo on his hands. i like how i incorporated that hc in this without making it too busy lol
THIS ONE. HELL YEAH. this is a redraw of an older art i made for thanatos' anniversary, and i thought the first one was cool but i was like "i think i have the skills to make this even better now" and I DID!!! idk, i'm glad i could capture the horror vibes more poignantly

anyways this is my pngtuber. they have no name, but she's a shopkeeper of a mysterious antique store. originally that doll on the bookshelf was gonna my pngtuber and i came up with a bunch of lore for her, but then i realized i had another oc design i really dig and was also simpler, so i revamped that for streaming FJKSDJKF but i would like to put that doll to use somehow or another. anyways if u can pinpoint all the references on the shopkeeper and their bookshelf and even her store's very existence, i love u --

I'VE BEEN MEANING TO DO AN IBERIA AU FOR JAKUDO FOR SO LONG... probably as long as the koibito AU for hifugen, but i just haven't been able to put it into words... i'm glad i could at least do a bit of this year, and i hope one day i can manage the whole concept!! also this idea's been in my head for so long that arb managed to reveal demon designs for both jakurai and doppo, sparing me the effort of designing them myself FSJKJKKJH
this one is also a set, so i wanted to post them together hehe again this is based off a horror rpg concept me and gianna came up together back in high school that will probably never see the light of day lol this probably doesn't surprise anyone who knows us, but these characters are based on us FKJSKJH
wah... i think my artist wrapped really covers what i have to say! quantity-wise, i'm not too happy with how much i made... it can't really be helped considering how busy and tiresome it's been this year, and i really wish i could say i can do more next year, but it's likely i'll be posting less and less in the future TwT but as much as possible, i'd still like to share my work! i think this might be my time to start focusing on original stuff, but i still wanna do fandom related stuff because there's still a lot of ideas and concepts i wanna see realized!! also i just love my fandom blorbos a lot lol, so i'll find ways to do things for them >w<
quality-wise though, i think i'm pretty pleased! last year i got csp, so i was still figuring it out, but now i think i got a better hang of it! and that means my art looks more confident i think haha. of course, there's still a lot of room for improvement, but it's nice that i can look at my stuff and go "yeah i like this!" i'm excited to see where my artistic journey goes from here!!
but yeah, maybe it wasn't a plentiful year for me re: art, but i made some pretty nice stuff despite that! thank you all for the support, and here's to next year!!

👋🏻🤠 it’s the Pacific Rim anon back again! You are so right for getting me to watch it.
First off, the soundtrack blew my dick off. I never knew I wanted to see a big robot punch a big lizard with some heavy metal shred in the background.
I also adore the connection of the kaiju coming from the pacific. As someone who lives on the ring of fire, there’s the constant danger of fault lines buckling, tsunamis, volcanoes, etc so the fact that the destructive mega titans are coming from the pacific completely tracks lmao. And the fact that humanity’s poisoning of the planets ecosystems makes it more viable for terraforming?? It scratched the marine bio itch in my brain.
Oh yeah and the entire central plot of letting people into your brain and having them see your entire being in moments and choosing to trust and work with this person. The mortifying ordeal of being perceived but you run a huge robot with that. That you can share these bonds with people no matter how many times in the past you’ve been through suffering, you can always let people back in and it will hurt but in the end it’s what keeps you going. Maybe I cried 4 separate times watching it, what about it????

YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT, THE SOUNDTRACK IS SO GOOD!!! Plus, I completely failed to think about the ring of fire!!!! that's such a good point!! AND THE WHOLE CONNECTION TO GLOBAL WARMING?? FUCK, DUDE, IT'S SO GOOD. AND!! I totally get the marine bio thing!!! this movie is VERY good at scratching my biology brain in the perfect way (not to mention my math brain, but thats just a whole nother thing. i, a guy who likes numbers, see a guy who likes numbers and lose my fucking mind immediately).
YOU'RE SO RIGHT ABOUT THE CENTRAL PLOT. PACIFIC RIM IS A MOVIE ABOUT SAVING THE WORLD WITH ROBOTS POWERED BY LOVE AND THE POWER OF HUMAN CONNECTION AND VULNERABILITY. I honestly couldn't have phrased it better myself though, "That you can share these bonds with people no matter how many times in the past you’ve been through suffering, you can always let people back in and it will hurt but in the end it’s what keeps you going." is incredibly poetic and sums up EXACTLY what makes the movie great. NEWT AND HERMANN. I love these gay scientists so fucking much. I'm an expert, you can trust me on this. The fucking fact that them not being drift compatible wasn't even a possibility to think about makes me lose my fucking mind (evidently, seeing as I made a post about that exact thing fdgjlkdfj). Right was shit at my art exam but do not care because all i have left for the semester is my math exam this thursday, english exam on monday and term paper presentation, some stupid portfolio due tuesday (10 pages of reflection on a project ugh) and then like one more presentation on fundamentalism on the 16.01 and im done :) and then it starts again!!! Help
And im suffering in math because i hate it obvi also i noticed that even if i get 0 points i should be fine..... I think... Scared theres some dumb rule that literally causes me to fail the year 😭 but im trying my best!

Got my pen! Like a week ago... Im so happy.... Wish i could DRAW with it... But my heads empty.... All ive been doing for the past year is redrawing but now i cant do that anymore..... I feel kinda shitty i just wish i had that trait of being inspired and creative in general
