here's another piece from august i couldn't include but also really liked >w<
i did not do as much as i would've liked to do this year (both art and writing) because i was so busy TwT but despite that, i think i kinda like what i was able to do... there's a lot of room for improvement, but i but i managed to finish a comic (one of my goals for this year!), finished some concepts i've had in mind for a long time, and experimented a bit! i had fun doing the pointillism piece and for the december piece, i tried coloring via color gradient so that was fun hehe considering all that, i'm not too upset lol
i would definitely like to do more next year, especially in writing whgdjhdh, but i'm not sure what will happen, so we'll see! in the mean time i made some goals lol

these aren't hard goals, i've had a lot of these in mind for a long time honestly LMAO, but it might be nice to see them accomplished next year! as long as i can keep making what i like though, i'm happy hehe ^-^

"Rita of Gokkan" CH.10

Karras's words: 法によって国をつなぐ それがゴッカンの使命
つなぐ literally means "tie" as in keep the nations in check in accordance to the law, or, to join the nations together. Leans closer towards "limit" than "connect". But be it my headcanon, real-life international law is not a rulebook but made up of customs and treaties. I felt a connection to Rita the moment they care so much about the Alliance = treaty = promises and uniting forces.
使命 is more commonly translated as mission/life's mission (lit.), but I think 'duty' fits Rita better as they were chosen for this role instead of actively deciding to serve it in the first place.
most of the words are not difficult but I had to keep it brief to fit in the word bubbles. If I'm not subbing this, I wouldn't've noticed the GAN sound can evolve in text for like this: KAN -> KANN (longer) -> GAN (earned the harsh sound) -> GANN (harsh and echoing)
The font change in Rita's speech is noticeable in the original even without the color hints. It fits with Rita having a work voice vs. private voice vs. moffun voice. (Like Yuzuki, Rita's work voice just become their regular voice as time goes on) The fonts here are: regular voice (Action Man), wider public voice (Book Anitqua), Judge voice (UglyQua) and Moffun voice (Alef)
