me: Aleksander Morozova deserves someone, who wouldn't be ashamed of their feelings for him, someone who wouldn't make his mother's words into a Holy scripture and would ask about his side of the story instead, someone who wouldn't dehumanize him to disregard his feelings more easily, someone who'd react to his immortality with empathy and concern. He deserves someone, who wouldn't demonize his every action, quick to believe the worst about him. Someone, who wouldn't interpret every breath he takes as a result of malevolent intention... So... thoughts about sab season 2 lmao
The writers were obviously on acids while concocting this high drivel.
It's a new fantasy genre they just founded with this season, you know, High Drivel.
They completely butchered the Darkling's character and I had to painfully witness ten hours of Ben, completely conscious of it, trying to conjure every Beauty and the Beast refrain to delay the Titanic-like sinking of his character and ship (from Phantom and Love Never Dies, to Dracula and Frankenstein to literal fanfictions I'm now sure he reads).
They completely missed the entire point and meaning of Darklina, making it a one-sided, one-dimensional stalker/simp-victim with angry Stokolm syndrome dynamic.
They threw famous line after famous line at us completely out of context as if they were bones to bait rabid dogs with (I will never forgive how they turned the sardonic "I'll make sure you hear when I make her scream", elegant half-threat and half-innuendo, into an angry madman growl with no meaning whatsoever).
"Let me be your monster!" - my children, you have read too many fanfics and not even the good ones.
Don't get me started with Baghra, the relationship counsellor and motherly hero (tm).
The shameless way they painted Aleksander taking possession of the stag amplifier as an assault metaphor. Disgusting.
I honestly didn't believe possible to do worse than the actual books, but never say never! The reasons why I hated the books were magnified this season. If Alina's reasoning and idiocy and lack of interest in her destiny and counterpart just did not make any sense in the books, in the show she is a thousand times dumber and one-dimensional! Put against this new version, books!Alina was depth personified! And if the books felt like rushed unelaborated summaries, the show is now an even worse mess! I cannot believe those are the same people who created season one. I'm astonished.
They eradicated the entirety of canon Darklina's scenes. Not a single one was present. Not one.
The tether is now for everyone to use and abuse, not only a personal soulmate thing. The Darkling is in Mal's dreams too lmao
Merzost suddenly killing the Darkling, of course. Obviously not to make Alina appear less of a cold-blooded murderer, not at all. Perhaps they should have remembered to make her fake a tear or two while burning the corpse of her ex-lover looking like a dumb emotionless fish.
Genya reduced to the victim (tm).
Nikolai the good woke boy (tm).
Nikolai giving up the Sturmhond title to the first tracker he meets, of course.
I loved how after ten hours of soppy eternal love declarations Mal dumps Alina because their love isn't real lol epic stuff.
And by the way this is still considered more valid and important than the relationship with the poor bastard who actually allowed the dumb angry fish to end him while daydreaming about her, his only peace in a thousand lifetimes of war.
Alina turning dark gives me a feeble hope, but the writers should come down from whatever drug they are currently using first.
Said hope involves the fact that they extinguished both Malina and the hatred towards the Darkling this season, and I like to think they did that to give us the proper dynamic with dark!Alina and the Nikolai's duology resurrected Darkling. But who knows if they will see reason.

Do you consider yourself a multishipper for any fandoms or do you tend to gravitate towards a certain pairing per character?
what an interesting question! I am a multishipper in most fandoms. purely at a ship level I can get behind literally everything. the only ships I will never consume content are the ones whose fandoms have terrified me so much I feel a viscerally terrible reaction to their content (basically zvkka. like that's the only ship I will never ever consume content for, sorry to the nice ones.)
even the ships I dislike, I'll still consume content for--like sometimes I dislike common ways ships are interpreted but I've been in fandom since I was ten, so my imagination is really open. take darklina as an example. on the one-dimensional plane of thought that's twitter, I'm a darklina anti or whatever. but I ship it. I've written fic for it, too. I just don't like the romanticization of some canonical aspects of the ship, but I acknowledge that yeah maybe if things had gone differently it could have worked. same thing with reylo. and like even if it's dysfunctional, I really enjoy openly unhealthy content as long as it's tagged properly and not romanticized. like basically my issue with darklina has never been the ship which does scratch my itch even when it's toxic, it's people who start harassing others over not shipping it & think stuff like him putting a collar on her was healthy... like you can ship it without it being healthy, don't act like it is when it's not...
same with Kataang and Maiko. like in my imagination there are definitely ways they would work because I believe pretty much anything can work if a few people in a relationship put in the work to make it work. but I've had bad run-ins with the fandom (nothing as bad as zvkkas though!) & I just tend to avoid it. but also if I'm reading a tyzula or jetko fic and it comes up, I just keep going. I'm also a wholehearted zutaraang shipper so that's that.
but yeah I will consume anything. back in The Days of Fandom Old (for me when I was like twelve LOL) I helped moderate & participated in some Harry Potter fan events where you would get assigned random characters to write fic between. like I think I wrote, back then, for like Thorfinn x Parvati & Lavender x Tonks fic. it was wild but it opened me up
& even with Zutara which is my to die for OTP next to maybe percabeth, yeah I ship & will consume Azutara content and Jetko content and Ty Luko content and Sukitara stuff. I'm open as long as it doesn't bash my ship & I usually won't write it (if I want to I'd probably write OT3s including Zutara)
in PJO I love percabeth and jiper & pipabeth all at the same level lol
this is a long winded way to answer a simple question and it's Yes I basically ship everything under the sun, I am a multishipper, but there are ships I feel varying levels of affinity for <3

I think when it comes to LB and antis they see the Darkling as this powerful souring men who abuses his power and gets alway with it because he’s so handsome while other fans analyse him through the lense of a victim of a minority group who’s survived and lost a lot and who’s had to do what he has to first to survive then to protect his people and as a war general he’s had to make some difficult choices but for some people it’s uncomfortable to see what it takes to actually rule. It’s also interesting how Aleksander’s always the one that’s framed as a powerful man taking advantage and being manipulative while they ignore characters like Nikolai who’s basically part of the monarchy that abuses its people but they don’t critics him or accuse him of being a powerful privileged prince or M*l who’s much close to how a RL abuser looks like. It’s frustrating to try and argue with these people but it’s interesting seeing this from a psychological POV.
I've always said that I didn't think the person LB wanted Aleks to be and the character she wrote were the same. As you said the majority of readers/viewers saw Aleks as a war general who was also part of a minority and who was trying to protect and improve the lives of his people, that meant sometimes he had to make tough choices and get his hands dirty but at the end of the day he was doing it for unselfish reasons and it was all for his people. Whereas LB and antis see him as the hot villain who is powerful but selfish and who preys on and manipulates young girls, to them he is nothing but a cautionary tale.
Then you have the Nikolai thing as you mentioned. He is so very similar to Aleks right down to his desire to own the throne so that he can make a better Ravka and yet unlike Aleks he is praised and heralded as a hero, I mean an example is how antis will always call out the darkling for kissing Alina whilst disguised as M*l because it was against her will yet I've never seen them call out Nikolai for kissing Alina publicly in front of a crowd of people against her will.
As for M*l as you said he is much closer to a rl abuser, I've said it before he reminded me so much of my toxic and controlling ex that I found some moments in the book rather triggering. I will always consider M*lina's relationship to be more damaging than darklina's purely for the fact that it's presented as a healthy relationship when it very clearly is not.
You are also right that it is frustrating to try and argue with antis, I try to remember to not engage and just push that block button though sometimes I do still fail at that as it can be very frustrating for me when anti's use the tags incorrectly or when they use certain terms incorrectly or try to put labels on the darkling that don't belong there. But I am still trying to improve on not being tempted or baited into a argument when I know that they won't change their view no matter if it makes little sense to me. However I do think it shows how fiction can be interpreted in different ways by different people.

How do you rationalize posting anti reylo while being a darklina? I've seen multiple darklinas that are anti reylo and it makes no sense to me. The darkling was arguably worse to alina than kylo was to rey. I don't mean this to be an attack. I've just seen it multiple times and it confuses me everytime.
I mean I looked at my blog and literally only have one thing tagged as anti-r*ylo bc I wanted ppl to be able to filter that post if they like the ship. By no means do I need to "rationalize posting" about it, especially never without tagging. I just don't vibe with that ship 🤷‍♀️. Asking how I "rationalize" liking one thing and not another is a weird ask, because that's like asking why I like chocolate and not strawberry ice cream. I don't know why my brain works the way it does. All I know is that people are allowed to have their preferences without justifying them, and I prefer darklina's interactions. It's not about who's worse to who.
Anyways, as people who have been on my blog or know me for a while can tell you, I will never make anyone feel bad about something they ship. Just know that I won't always ship the things you ship, and that's totally ok.
