Okay, but on the flip side, Eddie's arc with time and loneliness and the sudden "I'm gonna die alone" thing could mean we could get Eddie properly trapped. Because, yes, he was alone in the bridge, but his radio was working and he had no reason to believe Buck wouldn't get to him. Now you put him alone in a sinking ship, stakes are higher, water can make the radios not work, so much can go wrong in a call like that. I'm saying Buck could drown, but remember the finale speculation where Buck would have to choose who to save? Bobby. Eddie. Water. Panic. It's all still possible.

The little buddy effect: Defined as when you (usually a version of sonic or a character made to directly parallel Sonic) have a short best friend you cherish dearly. Anyone affected by the little buddy effect has the tendency to take to others of little buddy material or who remind them of their own little buddy very quickly. While generally (although not 100% of the time) the universe of Sonic the Hedgehog mandates each person affected by the little buddy effect gets to keep only one little buddy, this does not stop this person from trying. While all relationships come and go, the one between the affected and their little buddy is one to outlast them all (as long as the little buddy is properly cherished of course).

Another name for the "little buddy effect" is "the Tails effect.

Sorry, I'm reading Archie Sonic and it's like. So far in every Sonic media, none of the Sonics affected by the little buddy effect recognize the eternal bliss you may receive by cherishing the little buddy and giving them lil kisses (aka pursing at least a not completely platonic but also not famial relationship). In fact, sometimes they neglect the little buddy to pursue romance with a girl (that ultimately doesn't work out).

Meanwhile Mighty over here is like L + I'll never leave Ray behind again + get gud + no matter what we'll adventure together forever + Ratio

Back in 1999-2002 I was in the Canadian Armed Forces. Shortly after 9/11 I was doing security at the airport for all the equipment we were sending over to Afghanistan with our troops (ammunition, weapons, tanks, etc). I was the only woman on the security roster at the time.

Now, I was friendly with the military police running the job because when you're friends with the military police they do nice things for you like not believing the bitch of a Padre (yes women Padres exist) when she tried to throw you under the metaphorical bus after you accidentally drive her into a literal HLVW (think military version of a semi truck)

So anyway, I was friendly with these dudes and one day they decided to play a prank on their sergeant back at base (who I was also friendly with). When he called for the daily update he was told that one of the troops had lost it and started shooting at everything. Just complete chaos and they still hadn't tracked down all the expended rounds (aka bullets).

Apparently, so I learned afterward when I was told the story by the guy who'd called it in, the sergeants very first reaction was to say "Oh my god is she okay?"

...

I'd like to reiterate I was the only woman on the roster at the time.

The sergeant wasn't a misogynist. His response had nothing to do with me being a woman. He was just convinced that out of all of the soldiers on the roster I was the most likely to go off the deep end.

And the real kick in the teeth is I couldn't even argue that assumption.

Anyway that was more than 20 years ago and now people keep saying that I'm a zen master and it's absolutely possible to become a new person

i love it when shit happens in my life that dredges up old wounds and coincidentally im re-experiencing the media i intrinsically link it to cause then i get to remember exactly why i love it and find it so meaningful all over again. there's a fucking reason ill always say Berserk [& RGU] both came into my life at a perfect fucking time and holy shit they fucking resonated with me so hard and as much as life can suck ass and lovvves kicking me in the balls when ive just recovered from last time i a least get to remember how & why i love something so much.

#thebirdspeaks #ive been trying to make a coherent post about Berserk and specifically the duality of Casca and Guts as victims post eclipse #because there are issues but also it resonates so well with me regardless #i cant word it pretty but i think its something about Casca and Guts both being victims and responding in opposite ways #and because they are so tightly linked you can almost see them as one victim experiencing the duality of victimhood #as an internal struggle made into two separate people #i flip flop between who i relate to more in relation to my own trauma #and there is plenty to criticize with the writing choices around Casca dont get me wrong #but as much as people criticize her mind breaking and turning into a shell of herself that needs constant help as something entirely negati #i sure as fuck was not given that space and care to be broken #its very nuanced but i think so few people write victims sympathetically that as much as turning into a mess can appear overdone #being cared for and given space and help and being allowed to be a burden is a powerful thing #and i find the expectation to be strong in the face of what you went though is much more common and damaging to me #anyway as many issues as i have i think Casca being allowed to be a victim as much a she was is why i love Berserk so much and while i thin #it could be better if some things were changed #but im not sure if it would have hit as hard and meant as much to me when i was wobbling between mindless rage and want for revenge #and just being broken and tired and weak and scared #reading Guts protect Casca like he did #showed me that that part of me could protect and is better off channeling the mindless rage into protecting whats important to me and what #needs it #letting me demand protection and love and sympathy for my weakest self in my darkest hours #i know im far from objective & my opinions are not universal #but the fact Casca is allowed to be a victim so fully and not just a hashtag girlboss who struggles her way out #well i wouldn't call Guts a girlboss but actually i think that's why it worked.#because between the two they cover the two ends of the common depictions of victimhood: forced to stay strong and allowed to be weak #anyway im about to hit tag limit i love you f you read this far and if you think this is horseshit then please don't say #if you think im right and sexy about it pile the love on meee<3

the thing is like. i do believe in their heart of hearts that roy and donna love each other and that there is something deeply sentimental to them being each other’s first love even if it went unacknowledged for a long time and i think they will always have each other’s backs regardless of the state of their relationship with each other which is quite sweet and certainly an assurance they need in their lives given everything that’s happened to them. but i also think roy is someone so deeply empathic and persistent on seeing the best in people bc he knows what it’s like to be judged at your worst and that is something that connects him irrevocably to jade. he sees past the visage of anger and snark and volatility and he knows there is someone deeply hurting inside and he loves her unabashedly regardless of what she does which makes the relationship he has with her absolutely inexplicable to anyone but him bc all they see is a monster and all he sees is the woman he fell in love with when the masks weren’t on, something only he was privy to and no one else

#like roy and donna are kinda like the couple everyone looks at and is like ‘well obv that was gna happen’#whereas roy and jade are that couple that no one understands or believes in and somehow that only makes the potency of their relationship st #ronger bc it’s like. something totally and exclusively sacred. like do you feel me #there are just levels to it that roy and donna will never have i fear..#or at least that was the case before they fucked it up with that one titans issue where jade went berserk at the prison #which like. you can really obv tell was writers trying to make an excuse to fuck their relationship up rather than it being anything worthwh #ile. like they have had it against jade since the 90s it’s crazy #anyway no one asked for this it was just nagging at my brain idk 🫡#to be deleted

he's what this fandom thinks shironeki is based on root a only. this has its merits but yeah it's not for me. i mostly think it's pretty boring idk.. cool design, but otherwise very meh

the "no" is because tatara. i remember like yesterday when the chapter was released. i was so shocked and furious at how anticlimactic it all was and well. i haven't changed my mind about that lol not only did i want the chi she lian story (i was obsessed with tatara at some point believe it or not) but also. really? taki's petty vengeance rather than family vendetta? tatara, kakuja and more powerful than his extremely powerful brother, dying from a wound we've seen countless ghouls survive from? (kakuhou hit etc etc i don't care. amon, out of his mind and baby kakuja, survived that.) tatara may not have been a main character but we've been teased this fight since fucking og, okay, i needed the chi she lian flashback. i needed tatara to be the one to off houji. anyway this may seem stupid but this whole deal achieved ruining taki for me
