Another one of the Peeta moments that rot in my brain constantly is the scene in catching fire when Katniss and Finnick get stuck with the Jabberjays.

Peeta had his hands pressed against the force field, trying so so hard to be there for her and wanting so badly to protect her. And when it finally ended he held her, and rocked her, and let her hide her face in his arms, and protected her for as long as she needed him to and…..that’s just so ughhhh….so heartbreakingly sweet.

ogfoofodoxx thinking about how the most defining character trait of haymitch is how protective he is. not in the sense it's the most obvious, but how all of his actions are fueled by this desire to protect. how hard he works at keeping katniss alive in the first games, him fighting to keep them from augmenting katniss's body, him yelling at plutarch to keep finnick from having to share his trauma, him being so involved in peeta's recovery and being the one to bring katniss home. him holding mayslee's hand as she died, fighting for plutarch to stay and rescue peeta, being the one to find katniss and finnick when johanna had an episode, begging coin to believe peeta's warning. it being heavily implied or either outright stated that he was one of the people who fought to protect effie.

makes me physically ill because no one does that for him. everyone who would of, died.

honestly fine with gale as far as how he responds and feels about counter violence to the capitol like i get why katniss is like i hate how he treats innocent human beings like they’ve personally responsible for his suffering and doesn’t know about taking a life up close like she’s right but also he’s thinking big picture during a war and doesn’t help most of his thoughts about the capitol or said war are proven right - like when he’s like is it safe to have everyone gathered here at the hospital and katniss is thinking yeah this can’t be healthy or encourage healing and he’s thinking no they’re gonna be targeted bc they can’t run and are useless for capitol use and bam what happens. he’s right in his own way half the time but what annoys the fuck me about him is him being like so pushy about his feelings even when he KNOWS katniss is completely oblivious to that kind of stuff and keeps blindsiding her with it and getting mad at her for not knowing what to do with that info even with the fact that she found out at like. the worst time of her life when she was stuck in a situation she would have a very hard time getting out of safely with everyone she loves and holds it against her she cares about peeta at all and the whole you only care about me in pain and all i could think is i’ll never compete with how much pain peeta is in so i lost it’s like so you understand how katniss operates is mostly out of concern and worry romantically wise bc she hasn’t had a chance to care about this shit outside of like oh who i am hurting/killing with my choices and then are STILL like im gonna kiss her then stop bc she’s obviously not into it at the moment for the right reasons and it’s like kissing drunk i get he’s like a teenager and is a dumb shit but also leave that girl alone for the love of GOD

everyone talks about how katniss is like lucy gray but no one talks about the parallels between her and Snow which I think is a tragedy. Like they’re both strong willed, determined, willing to do whatever is necessary. They both have that carefully controlled facade (katniss constantly being aware of the cameras and not wanting to be seen as weak vs snow keeping up appearances, hiding his lack of money and keeping his anger in check) the difference Is katniss has that ability to love and care in a way snow doesn’t. I stand by the fact that he sees her as a reflection of himself and knows that he can’t control her because of that. She is the jabberjay he knows and loves, and the mockingbird he’s grown to hate. She is a mixture of Snow and Lucy Gray (the jabberjay and the mockingbird respectively)

If anyone resembles Lucy Gray, it’s Peeta. Lucy Gray knew how to work the cameras to her advantage, had the charm that made her so beloved. While snow and katniss are both aware of the game being played, peeta and Lucy Gray use their good nature to their advantage. They know where their weaknesses are, and they use their charm to show strength. Katniss has a physical prowess that Lucy Gray didn’t.

And that makes snows demand that katniss prove her love for peeta more interesting. Because he thinks he sees his inability to love Lucy Gray reflected in katniss. That peeta will turn away from her, that she’ll never truly connect with him. And he’s wrong because katniss doesn’t see peeta as an object to be controlled. Neither of them seek power over each other. When they were the last two in the arena, they planned to go down together instead of kill each other.

If Snow was in katniss’s position, he would have killed peeta, the same way he tried to kill Lucy Gray. He sees the berries solely as an act of rebellion against the capital. When obviously it’s more than that because katniss cares for peeta as a person and doesn’t want him to die. Katniss is a reminder of everything snow isn’t. She chooses people, whereas snow chooses power. That’s the critical difference between the two of them.

peeta is ecstatic. he's always wanted to be a father, dreaming of a healthier and happier family than the one he grew up in. he cries tears of joy when you tell him, kissing your belly and immediately wondering about names and outfits and nursery plans. he strikes me as a girl dad, so i think he hopes it will be a girl, but he is overjoyed regardless.

gale is a little worried at first. he isn't sure if he'll be a good dad. he's also spent so much time taking care of others, his siblings, that he worries he's grown bitter and tired and selfish. but when he sees the happiness in your face, sees your stomach begin to grow, feels that baby kick...well, he can't help but start to melt. if you have a boy, he'd ask to name it after his father.

finnick is the perfect mix of happy and terrified. he has that pre-parental panic that plenty of people have, mostly because he never imagined a world where he could bring a child into it willingly. he would start talking about teaching your child to swim and fish and get this giddy look on his face. he gets very protective over you while you're pregnant, not letting you do any chores.

coriolanus is really torn. on one hand, having a perfect family, a possible successor, will be an asset, but it would also make him vulnerable, having a partner and a child that he loves. he also worries he won't be a good father, due to his own father being so cold. he doesn't strike me as a very involved parent, honestly, so i think he would be pleased with the concept but not incredibly mushy about it. he wants a son, i think. a little mini-him.

sejanus wants a big family, so he's more than happy to find out. he honestly strikes me as the kind of guy who would either burst into tears or faint upon finding out, lol. he wants to tell his ma immediately, have her knit the baby's first outfit. he constantly kisses your stomach, wants to feel them kick, is already buying everything well in advance.

I think one thing that’s so important about the hunger games (and something that sets it apart from a lot of other ya media) is the fact that all the teenage characters are treated like teenagers by the adults around them.

And because of that- every single teenage character in the hunger games is constantly being manipulated/influenced/controlled by those adults (both by people trying to protect them and those trying to use them for their own gain)

Katniss and Peeta are kept out of the rebel plans for the quarter quell by haymitch (to protect them) and the others (to protect the plan). They’re also manipulated directly by Snow himself into playing up their romance in cf to try to prevent a rebellion. Gale (with his knack for traps) is manipulated by coin and the rebels as something they can use for weapons development and military strategy. Even prim is manipulated by coin into being part of the medic team sent to the Capitol (so that her sister has to watch her die). Even young snow and his high ambitions in tbosas are manipulated by Gaul and and Highbottom in his early attempts to gain power/glory for himself. And, of course, every teenager who’s ever been sent to the hunger games has been manipulated into participating in their show- this also includes all of the victors that continued being manipulated by the Capitol long into adulthood (like haymitch whose loved ones were all killed to prevent further rebellious behavior or finnick who was trafficked by snow because he was young and desirable).

Like this is not a series where the teenagers are special and the adults treat them as peers/equals bc of how special/important they are for whatever reason. This is a series where every teenager 👏 is 👏a 👏 teenager 👏 and is treated as such by all of the adults/governments/social systems around them. They all have that teenage naivety about them that’s constantly being used/manipulated by the adults around them (both for attempts at the teens’ protection and for the adults’ own causes/gains)

Katniss: *knows Peeta's ranking in the wrestling match and who he lost to, knows he carries flour sacks and his mother abuses him, even before they said a word to each other; stares at his eyelashes when she thinks he's preoccupied*

yes i can!!

coriolanus - i think coriolanus would take pride in you being clingy to him. he’s very possessive so knowing that you constantly crave being around him is a blessing to him. especially if he’s president. you would overlook his wrongdoings simply because you don’t want him to abandon you. so whenever you visit him while he’s working, he’ll take time out of his day for you just to hold you because it means you’ll stay with him no matter what. to him it’s a power play, something to hold against you.

sejanus - i think sejanus is also quite needy and clingy. so if you’re both just constantly clinging on each other, there’s absolutely no problem with it. sejanus just wants you to be happy and he is more than willing to give you all the hugs and cuddles you need in order to feel reassured.

finnick - i think finnick would try to communicate with you first as to why you’re clingy and needy. he would want to talk about it and see what he can do to help you. and when you mention more physical touch, he’s just tackling you with kisses and hugs. he’s so cute about it. he’s like “i!” smooch “love!” smooch “you!” and then of course he cuddles you. he just wants you to feel as loved as you make him feel.

peeta - peeta is always down for cuddles so if you come to him being needy and cuddly, he will literally cuddle you for like days. you know that scene in catching fire where Katniss and Peeta didn’t leave one another’s sides for the few days leading to the Quarter Quell? he would gladly do that with you. because he loves you. and he’s such a simp

Parts in Mockingjay book that should have been in the movie:

-Katniss really disliked living underground at 13. She felt claustrophobic and missed being outdoors and hunting. She never followed the schedule to train and just hid in supply closets and took naps. If anyone tried to question this, she’d show them her medical bracelet and tell them she’s mental.

- Katniss and Annie traveled from 13 to 12 with Katniss’ prep team to find Annie a wedding dress in her house in Victor’s Village. Katniss’ wedding dresses were sent back to the Capitol but she still had a few dresses from the Victory tour. Annie chose a green one. Katniss says Annie laughs at wrong times in a conversation and drifts off mid sentence but Finnick likes her so she does too.

- Peeta decorated Finnick and Annie’s wedding cake. It was part of his therapy after getting hijacked. He decorated it with blue and green waves for their district.

-Johanna and Katniss’ friendship: Johanna wanted to fight in Capitol with the Katniss and Finnick. She and Katniss were deemed too “mentally unstable” to fight. They had to start at the lowest level in training and work their way up to the top. They were even roommates for a while. Katniss noticed Johanna avoided showers and was scared of training outside in the rain. She later finds out Johanna developed a fear of water after being tortured in the Capitol by being waterboarded and electrocuted.

- Katniss was mad that Peeta was sent to fight in the Capitol so she calls Haymitch. Haymitch gives her the ultimate reality check, delivering the best line in the series: “I think it's time you flipped this little scenario around in your head. If you'd been taken by the Capitol, and hijacked, and then tried to kill Peeta, is this the way he would be treating you?” demands Haymitch. I fall silent. It isn't. It isn't how he would be treating me at all. He would be trying to get me back at any cost”.

- In the last part of the training, Johanna and Katniss go through a combat stimulation in which the person must face their greatest weakness. Katniss’ weakness was taking orders (no surprise). In Johanna’s stimulation, she faced a flood, had a flash back and panicked. She was sent back to the hospital and wasn’t allowed to the Capitol. To make her feel better, Katniss combined pine tree needles with a bandage to make a sort of fragrance bundle. Johanna said it smelled like home. 🥹

- After the silver parachutes bombs and Prim’s death, Katniss was also affected by the fire. Her skin became discolored and patchy. Peeta was also at the Capitol Circle during the bombing and was burnt as well. He and Katniss have burn scars all over their bodies that never fully go away.

-After the bombing, Katniss is described as a mental “Avox”, refusing to speak for weeks after her sisters death.

-All the stylist and prep team of the Hunger Games were assassinated, with the exception of Effie and Katniss’ prep team. The victors of the Hunger Games were killed as well except for the ones who were imprisoned in the Capitol and saved by District 13.

- The bombs decorated as silver parachutes to m@rder Capitol children was Plutarch’s idea. A Gamemaker’s touch as President Snow described. Plutarch was just as bad as Coin. He thought it made for “good television”

-After Katniss murdered Coin, she was kept in the Training Center for weeks till they figured out what to do with her. She considered s@uicide many times, either by overdosing or refusing to eat. She wouldn’t speak and sang to herself constantly. All the songs her father taught her. After the war ended, Plutarch asked her if she wanted to be a part of a singing competition he was televising in 4.

-Katniss and Peeta wrote a book about all the people they knew and details about them: Primrose, Cinna, Finnick, Peeta’s dad. Peeta drew the pictures. Haymitch helped them too, giving them information about the tributes he was forced to mentor. They plan on reading the book to their children one day.

-What happened to District 12: Hundreds of people left 13 to go back home to 12. They began finding bodies in the rubble and burying them. Madge and her family were found dead. A large hole was made in the Meadow to bury them. Then people began rebuilding the town. With the mines closed, a factory was built from the Capitol to make medicine.

Peeta Mellark had heard the saying since he was a child. “The abused become the abuser.” It was a set in stone fact that his childhood was less than comfortable, if not borderline cruel. But Peeta being the self aware sweetheart he was, forced himself to prove that saying wrong.

He’d never raise his voice at you, no matter what. He couldn’t imagine doing so. And if even he slipped up and yelled at you, it’d be a matter of seconds before he apologizes. Peeta grew up around screaming and fighting, and he never wanted you to have to experience that.

When he’s around, you never have to lift a finger. Regardless of how good you are at baking (because in my mind the two of you own a bakery in district twelve), the most he will let you do is stir ingredients together. The oven is just too dangerous, and he doesn’t want your arms to get tired from kneading dough. And don’t even think about climbing on countertops to reach cabinets, he can get whatever dish your pretty heart desires for you.

The pet names this man would give you. Basically, calling you by your first name is treason. Sweetheart, gorgeous, beautiful, princess, baby/babe, honey, and angel are all on the table. And trust that he would be one of those super cheesy guys that calls you “cupcake”, especially since he is the baker boy of Panem.

You get princess treatment every single day of your life. As I have previously mentioned, he never gets angry at you nor lets you do anything without his help, but if anyone crosses you, he will let you cry on his shoulder as he plans out their murder. Well maybe not murder, but they will be getting a stern talking to from Mr. Mellark. If you were sensitive, he’d be there for you to vent to over the most minute worries or problems. If you stubbed your toe, he will be there for you to cry to.

His love language is definitely touch, but he is so gentle with it, as if his flawed hands could ruin you. He would constantly be holding your hand, stroking it with his thumb. Under every table, his hand would be on your thigh, just barely enough for you to notice. If your hair is handing in your face, he would push it back and gently kiss your face before continuing his work.

Overall, Peeta’s love would be gentle and nurturing. He can do no wrong, partly because he is perfect but also because he tries his best to be good for you.

After everything with the 74th anniversary for the hunger games, when you and Peeta survived.

He has been all over you for the past few weeks. Constantly checking up on you, bringing you bread, giving you kisses everywhere on your body.

It was cute honestly. Some people may think it's annoying but you think it's incredibly adorable.

Behind that brave facade, is a sweet lover boy who loves his girlfriend and always wants to remind her of that. To show her his love for her.

"I know, Gale, are you sure your ok?" You ask. He slowly nods before drifting off to sleep.

You gave him some tea because he wasn't feeling very well. You go to clean up when you hear a knock on the door.

You walk towards the door and open it only to be surprised with a happy smile and a loaf of bread.

A bright smile slowly appears on your face as you hug you boyfriend Peeta Mellark.

"Hi. I thought I would bring some bread!" He says with a smile on his face.

"Good! Just in time too! Gale's caught a fever. He isn't feeling well so maybe bread and tea will fix him up!" You say grabbing the loaf of bread before kissing Peeta on the cheek and walking towards the kitchen.

He walks in and gently shuts the door. Your swaying and humming to yourself as you cut the bread to leave next to Gale on the couch.

You grab a napkin and place it on the coffee table in your lovely, quiet home

"So... How are you? Have you been busy my love?" He asks in a sweet, gentle tone.

"I have been good Peeta! Not as many nightmares anymore but you know, same old same old." You say frowning a bit.

"Do you want some tea?" You ask. You await his answer as you slowly walk over to the counter where the tea kettle is.

"Uhm, no thank you, I'm ok." Peeta replies. You hear shuffling on the couch and look over to see Gale waking back up at the smell of bread.

"Is that bread and tea?" He asks a little drowsy from his quick little nap.

"Yea it is. Peeta's here and he brought some bread so eat up." You respond.

You walk over to Gale and put your hand on his head to check on him and how he is feeling and he is burning up.

"Oh my god Gale, your burning up! I'm going to run a cold bath for you. Up, come on." You say concerned.

"Sure thing mom!" He responds chuckling as he gets up and walks to the bathroom.

"I'll be right back Peeta!" You respond. He stands there patiently waiting for your return.

Once you walk back in the room you met with someone's chest and a whiff of alcohol.

"HAYMITCH!" You yell. You give him a hug and he chuckles a bit.

"Hey there firecracker." You smile at the nickname he gave you . You got this nickname form making fire bombs during the games.

"W-what are you doing here? Is everything ok?" You ask looking behind him to see Katniss and Peeta.

"Yea, I tagged along with Katniss on the way over here. She came to male sure that Gale was ok." He responds rubbing your arms assuringly.

"Oh ok, yea Katniss he's fine he's in the shower right now because he was burning up." You tell her.

She nods and mutters a thank you before heading up the stairs towards the bathroom.

"Uh babe? Can we talk for a sec? Alone." Peeta asks. You nod and walk towards your room together.

"What? What's going on baby?" You ask wondering if he's ok. He gives you a hug and then grabs your face and kisses you sweetly.

"Hm, what was that for?"

"To show how much I love you. Plus, i've been wanting to do that the moment I walked in here." He says laughing.

You laugh and he smiles at you with nothing but love.

"I love your laugh. Your so gorgeous." he says staring at you with love in his eyes.

"Aw, thank you peeta. I love your big brown eyes. Your my little golden retriever." You say smiling before giving him a sweet peck on his lips.

He smothers your face with kisses and you laugh again. "You wanna go for a walk?" He asks.

"W-What about Gale?" You ask concerned. He rolls his eyes playfully.

"Babe I think Katniss can take care of him for 10 minutes." He responds smiling.

"Ok. Lemme go get my coat and I'll meet you outside hun!" You say running to your room to grab your coat.

Peeta smiles to himself as he waits for you by the door like a personal Chaperone.

He wonders how he's so lucky to have you. How could he have scored such a prize like you. You weren't an obstacle to win but a star to praise.

You shined on your own time and he adored you for it. He loved everything about you and he couldn't have had anyone more special than you.

Lost in his train of thoughts about you he didn't even notice your sweet voice trying to lure him back to reality.

"Babe? Are you ok? Earth to Peeta!?" You say cutely waving your hand in front of his face.

"Huh? Oh yea baby I'm ok." He responds smiling, "Ready to go My lovely princess?" he continues holding out his arm.

"I am." You respond, you both walking out of the door. "By the way, what were you thinkin' about?" You ask sweetly.

Peeta smiles to himself before looking at you with a big smile on his face saying, "You my love. Always thinking about you."

Headcanon that for a while Katniss and Peeta both think they’re the super clingy one in the relationship. I could see the first time Peeta has to go to the Capitol for a checkup both of them thinking they’re really dependent on the other.

Doesn’t matter though when they reunite. They realize they’re equally clingy and just have good reunion sex

Okay, so firstly i have to say that I cannot BELIEVE that people are actually sending ME anonymous asks. ME. I feel so unbelievably special, omg. I totally feel like I don't bring much in terms of "creating" to the fandom so anyone wanting to come to ME for anything is just so... I'm not actually convinced you aren't secretly Suzanne Collins in my DMs. These two, even with years of therapy and healing, are always always going to be codependent as HELL. Peeta's trips to the Capitol early on, while Katniss is still legally confined, drive her absolutely INSANE. like, he'll have to go for checkups with Aurelius and also for adjustments to his prosthetic because he's still growing and it needs to be adjusted for his height. She very seriously considers trying to fit in his suitcase. He walks in on her trying to contort herself into it while Buttercup is eyeing her judgmentally. She spends the entire time bothering Haymitch and crying to him. He doesn't know how to deal with her being this openly emotional about it so he's just like

Peeta on the other hand really tries hard to focus on what needs done and puts on a brave face, but the SECOND he's on the train he's wondering if he could survive jumping off and running back to Katniss. Maybe if he tucks and rolls juuuuust right....? He keeps eyeing the emergency break. Once he gets to his hotel he's RUNNING for the phone in his room, but misses Katniss because she's busy crying to Haymitch while Haymitch tries to watch Plutarchs singing competition show. When they finally connect that night they just stay on the phone with each other to fall asleep. Peeta spends his time in the capitol waiting for his prosthetic checking out the shops and constantly buying things that remind him of Katniss or that he thinks she'll like. He stocks up on cans of Lamb Stew and baking chocolate to make her some hot chocolate. Even buys a fancy cheese from a local artisan fromager to make her extra special cheese buns. He also, secretly, takes the pearl that he snuck out of her nightstand to a jewler. He's having it inlaid into a necklace. When he FINALLY makes it back home, the bakery is closed for 2 days but he does manage to make one loaf of bread in that time...

Content Warnings - blood/injury

Finnick watches as your bloodied body collapses into a heap at the base of the ladder. Maybe if he tells himself it’s just the sedative doing it’s job then you’ll be fine. Maybe you’ll be ok.

Gale hops back down to help Finnick pull you up to the rest of the squad. Everyone who made it up the ladder seems relatively fine, minus some fresh trauma and minor flesh wounds. You, however, looked more dead than alive.

Finnick’s fingers brush your neck as he feels for a pulse.

“It’s faint but it’s there,” he tells the group, trying to keep himself together. “I’ll carry her.”

Squad 451 exits the sewers, following Cressida to the shop of a woman named Tigris. She leads them to the basement where they can hide out for awhile.

“Have you ever seen this before?” Finnick asks the cat-like woman, referring to the inky nature of your body.

“Hmmm,” the feline purrs. “It looks familiar but I can’t quite put my paw on it. It reminds me of an experiment one of the former game makers used to do on animals but I’ve never seen it in a human before.”

“Do you know what the experiment was?” Finnick asks.

“No,” she hisses. “I only saw the creatures once. My cousin worked with that game maker but he wouldn’t willingly divulge that information to anyone, and certainly not to you.”

“How do we help her?” Katniss asks, looking at your limp form.

“You win this war,” she tells the two victors, slinking her way back upstairs.

Finnick doesn’t sleep a wink, constantly checking your pulse to make sure you are still with him. Katniss used what limited supplies the group had to clean, stitch, and bandage your wounds but she couldn’t do anything about the internal damage using the resources available.

Your fever was gone, signaling to Katniss that the substance had stopped its spread for now. Maybe you bled enough of it out. She could tell, however, that your sleep was not a result of her arrow, but of wounds she couldn’t see.

“Get some rest,” she instructs Finnick. “I’ll watch her.”

The look he gives tells her exactly what his fear is. He can’t lose you.

“If anything happens I’ll wake you,” she assures him.

By morning, nothing had changed. You hadn’t gotten better but you also hadn’t gotten worse.

Snow made an announcement that refugees were being welcomed at the mansion and Katniss made her decision, she had to end this.

The group decided that Katniss and Gale would head out first, followed by the able bodied members of the squad. Peeta and Finnick stayed back with you, unable to stomach the idea of more bloodshed.

After they were dressed in capital disguises, the group began trickling out to join the masses making their way to promised safety.

Katniss had left Finnick the holo in case he needed to be out on the streets. He wanted to carry you to the nearest medical camp but Katniss said you needed to stay put due to all your stitches. She promised to send medics when she could but Finnick was growing impatient.

It was too risky to try and radio for help. If the signal was tracked to your location then you would be swarmed instantly. Finnick had to think of another solution.

“I’ll go find help,�� Peeta states.

“No it’s too dangerous,” Finnick shakes his head.

They younger victor doesn’t have time to debate as the building is shook by a nearby explosion. Screams could be heard from the street above and a few bits of plaster fall from the basement ceiling.

“We need to move her,” Finnick states. “Grab a blanket!”

The men wrap your body up in a blanket, hoping it would cushion your stitches enough to move you. They then quickly pull on some capital clothes and venture out onto the street.

People are laying dead everywhere as smoke fills the air. Parents are screaming for their children as they search the rubble and debris.

“I think we should go that way,” Peeta states, pointing away from the chaos. He grips the holo tightly and leads Finnick through a series of alleyways.

Finnick hears a pained moan as you stir in his arms.

“Shhh stay still,” he tells you. “I’m bringing you to medical.”

Your restless bouts continue as the duo of victors makes their way towards the closest known medical station. They make it about halfway when Finnick feels his hand getting wet.

“The stitches,” he mutters as he looks at the blood coating his hand.

“Peeta!” he calls, no longer worried about being recognized. Peeta turns to see the blood seeping through the blanket and makes his decision.

“Stay here with her,” he states. “I’ll go get help.”

Finnick gives the boy a nod before he runs off to find help. He sets you down on the pavement and slowly unwraps the blanket.

One of the gashes in your side had reopened, gushing blood at an alarming rate. Finnick rips a piece of the blanket off to put over the wound, hoping to slow the bleeding.

“Hey,” he says as he notices your eyes opening. “Don’t move.”

“It hurts,” you groan.

“I know love,” Finnick sighs. “Stay with me, ok. Help will be here soon.”

I like thinking about how involved Haymitch was with Peeta’s recovery after the hijacking. I imagine even more so than Katniss describes in the book. He was the one giving Katniss constant updates, and not sugarcoating it. I think Haymitch was constantly there since his rescue. I know Peeta was angry with Haymitch and maybe they didn’t interact very often at first. But I think Haymitch was still always watching over his recovery. I like to think that Peeta regained a lot of trust in Haymitch in District 13, before he was sent to the Capitol. Maybe not in conjunction with Katniss, but in their personal relationship with each other.

I know Haymitch chose Katniss in the 74th games, and honestly also in the Quarter Quell, but I think he loved Peeta just as much.
