When people are calling Israel a colony, what do they mean? The way I understand that word, a colony is land, controlled by some other country that's elsewhere and run by citizens of that country. That doesn't seem to be the case here, since most Israel citizens are only citizens of Israel, not something else, and there's no "main" country they're representing and can return to. Or are people using "colony" metaphorically here?
Before Tumblr mobs me - I don't like Israel and don't support it.
Israel began as a British colony of Palestine in the post WW1 era, around 1920. The people responsible for the genocide are almost entirely of European origin who were moved to Palestine after WW2 (in the 1940s and 1950s) to avoid returning to the homelands where they'd been given up to the nazis by their neighbors.
Today, however, the bulk of the colonization effort is managed by the US military industrial complex.
Now, there are many other people living in Israel, of many faiths and many ethnicities. The Israeli people, be they Jews or otherwise, are also not fans of the genocide, in much the same way the American people are not fans of US genocides.
But the israeli government exists almost entirely as a puppet for US and European colonial goals, and has done since the assassination of Prime Minister Rabin in the 90s.
Prior to that, there was a brief period wherein the rightfully elected leaders of Israel sought peace in the region after throwing off the shackles of British colonialism, which again founded the country and only "ended" (on paper) in the 1950s.
Israel has been a colonial effort for about 2/3s of the century it has existed, including today.
Now, this is a simplified explanation, of course. For example, although it was was a colonial effort, the "return" of Jews to their "homeland" was also a refugee effort, and a repatriation effort.
Jews never really "stopped" being indigenous to the levant even in diaspora. This is extremely obvious if you've ever lived in a Jewish neighborhood, but may come as a shock to a lot of people used to thinking of the assimilated mask Jews wear in Christian societies as our "true" selves.
My family were nondiasporic Jews until me, which I gather is an... unusual perspective that many people don't see often. You'll have to take me at my word, I think, because it's difficult to explain. But Jews never actually "became white" the way people so desperately want to believe. Some jews learned to pass for white, yes, but that isn't the same thing.
Jews, even the Ashkenazim (the "white european" ones) have a right to return home the same as anyone. And not just because I'm a fan of open borders.
But here's the deal.
Mizrahim (Jews who remained in the middle east rather than living in diaspora) are literally treated as inferior, as "arabs" (a colonial term) regardless of religion or ethnicity. To be a Jew is not enough. You have to be the right kind. This is true of other Jews of Colour in Israel as well, often to an even greater extreme, as any Ethiopian Jew in Israel damned well knows.
This also... well, I've talked about it a bit before, but this summary is also casting a very cruel light on the concept of Jewish citizenship being automatically granted in the case of Jewish descent. Which isn't fair of me at all.
In a world without all the goddamned genocide, having a reduced immigration process for the children of emigrants is perfectly fucking common and normal and many countries do it, including the US.
And this also doesn't touch upon the critical political reality that Israel exists as a place for bigots to throw their jews away instead of straight up killing us.
So, okay, this got away from me.
Basically, Israel as a state is a colony of the US (today) and UK (historic), which is armed almost entirely by the US, and which attacks targets the US deems "of interest." The fact that the colony is populated by repatriated indigenous peoples doesn't really change that.
If anything, it deepens the horror, because many of the Jews involved in the genocide against Palestine genuinely (and fairly) believe that this is the last place on earth where a Jewish person can reasonably expect religious safety. Genuinely, and fairly, believe that it's a choice between "the genocide of all Jews globally or the elimination of a single '''Arab''' city."
They're wrong, but not irrational.
In a way, the existence of global antisemitism is the justification that fuels the ongoing palestinian genocide.
Though in practical terms, it is "fueled" by US weapons. The US wants to own Israel and use it as a launching off point for US violence in the region, without the US having to take the blame.
"See? It's all just poor, innocent Israel defending itself*!"
*(entirely with US weapons and often on US orders, often with weapons given to Israel rather than purchased, solely to further destabilize a religiously and financially significant region and furthermore to instill a sense of fear of Israel's neighbors and gratitude to the US)
For another example of a colony-of-the-repatriated, you can check out the history of civil war in Liberia, after the US just dumped a bunch of freed slaves there instead of killing them. Unsurprisingly, it went fucking Badly. However, because Liberia was not considered a "valuable" colony, less study tends to be done into the complexities of that.
Or, I mean, there's always "the life history of Osama Bin Laden" which is kind of like a one man speedrun of what the US is doing with all of Israel.

It's very interesting that anti-Zionists claim to be "anti-colonial" given the arguments I routinely see them use against Jews. For years, I've seen them use full scale blood quantum arguments, for one. Most recently, now that we're fully in "Jesus was a Palestinian" season again, I saw a famous economist claim that "Jesus is genetically closer to Palestinians, (particularly Christians) than to Israelis (0 connection to most groups)," which is false to begin with.
Personally, I'm very sensitive to this kind of argument because I'm a ger. These people go after Jews like us very hard because to them we have the wrong DNA and thus undermine Jewish indigeneity, peoplehood, and history. Even if they concede the genetic evidence of born Jews' ancestral origins, they still point at gerim and any of our descendants as the "fake Jews" who don't belong… anywhere, actually. We don't belong in Israel because we're "foreign interlopers," and we don't belong outside of Israel because we had the gall to become Jews.
It's one type of antisemitism I can't seem to numb myself toward.
Hi Nonnie! Thank you for the ask, and my apologies about how long it's taking me to reply these days. Real life is not currently kind... :(
Okay, I had to roll my eyes so hard at that propaganda lie about Jesus. (found the economist in question, love it when someone who is living as a colonizer on stolen Native American land, has the audacity to goysplain a Jewish man to Jews, who support Jewish native rights. There really is no end to how much Jews just don't count to such people, is there?)
And it really is remarkable how many things he could get wrong in just that one part of his tweet...
Jesus was not a Palestinian, he was a Jew.
If you traveled back in time, and wanted to ask him about being Palestinian, you wouldn't be able to speak to Jesus in Arabic, which is the language of the Palestinians as Arabs, you would have to speak to him in either Hebrew or Aramaic (which is so close to ancient Hebrew, that I can speak some Aramaic simply by virtue of being a native Hebrew speaker) for him to understand you. Because he was a Jew.
If you did speak to Jesus in Hebrew or Aramaic, and asked him about being Palestinian, he wouldn't know what you're talking about, because the Romans would only rename the land Provincia Syria Palaestina in 136 AD, over 100 years after his death. Calling Jesus Palestinian is like saying that Chief Powhatan (probably best known as Pocahontas' father) was a Virginian, just because he was born and lived on territory that would later become Virginia. It's anachronistic, blatantly untrue, and totally imposing colonialist inventions on native people.
To the best of my knowledge NO ONE has dug up Jesus' DNA to compare it to ANY group. This is how you can tell that when he gets to that part, this guy is just blatantly making propaganda up.
Israelis are not one group, but Israeli Jews do test close to other Middle Eastern groups, and closest to other Jewish groups from around the world.
I guess, why settle for one bit of bullshit, when you can go for five?
I find it so interesting that you used the term "blood quantum." For non-Americans, who may not know it, here's a short introduction:
A person's Blood Quantum is the fraction of their ancestors, out of their total ancestors, who are documented as full-blood Native Americans. The blood quantum policy was first implemented by the federal government within tribes to limit native citizenship. However, since 1934, tribes were granted the authority/ability to create their own enrollment qualifications.
I find it interesting, because I keep thinking Jews and First Nations have so much in common, as native peoples. I remember coming across at least two different stories of people being adopted into Native American tribes. Obviously, each first nation has its own rules about it, before and after the colonization of America, but the point is... there is room for someone to become a member of the tribe, not based on blood. Most of the time, membership of the tribe IS based on ancestry, but it isn't limited to that. Some people come and live with the tribe, adopt its customs and way of life, emerge themselves in the values and heritage, embrace its spiritual beliefs, become a member of this community, and then they are adopted in. It's the same with Jews. Most of us are born Jewish, some of us choose to live this lifestyle, embrace the customs, beliefs and culture, go to synagogue, get to know the community, and eventually adopt and are adopted by it. That's the thing. Converting to Judaism isn't just changing your belief system. It's joining a tribe, and changing one's identity through this process of mutual adoption. Converts to Judaism don't take away ANYTHING from the native rights of Jews. On the contrary, this process of conversion is so different to when someone moves from one religion to another (think of how much simpler baptism is, to the long journey of converting to Judaism), precisely because Judaism isn't just a religion, unlike Christianity and Islam. It is an entire, intricate identity that combines multiple aspects, as all ancient, native identities do.
And in this context, think of Americans who are mostly of European descent, and have nothing to do with Native American culture, or way of life, but they can point to having an "exotic" great great great grandfather, who was a Native American chief. From what I've gathered, they would not be considered members of the tribe by most Native American nations. But the person who lives with the tribe, and shares its ways and its fate? That person is recognized as such by the tribe members.
Jews are the same. We are not native just because our ancestors are from Israel. We are also native, because we are the people who have preserved that Israelite identity. We have carried its torch, and passed it on along the generations, and we have shared our light with those, who chose to stand with us, to share our ways, our fate, and the consequences of the horrible hatred aimed at us.
I love you, my fellow tribe member. Thank you for sharing the light, and the burden, together! *sending so much love* xoxox

so a couple people saw my post about the genocide in Palestine and how despite mandatory education on the genocide of the Holocaust the same systematic erasure of a culture is being actively funded by the ‘land of the free’ and many other places who claim to care about human life.
I’m not an adult. I’m not even in high school yet. How is it that I can sit at my phone and have a greater sense of injustice for these people, these innocent children and young adults and desperate people who are just like us, than the men who have lived six times my age? How is it possible that I have more empathy for the people being brutally tortured and murdered and exterminated like pests while not able to conceive what that suffering looks like than the people who have initiated it?
How is it that a man can burn himself alive screaming ‘Free Palestine’ and people still cannot find it in themselves to see Palestinians as human beings? It is not a war on Hamas Israel is ‘fighting’ anymore—it never was. And (correct me if I’m wrong) is Hamas not a group of the product of Isreal’s oppression, extermination, and expulsion of the people of Palestine for the last over 70 years? Does their land being stolen not remind you of the tears shed by Native Americans when Andrew Jackson was indifferent to their plight? Does the rounding up and bombing not remind you of innocent Jews herded into gas chambers and promised a shower (they said they would get food) and met only with death?
A week after I learned about the genocide of Palestinians, I looked at the list of deaths. It was too long for me to scroll through in an hour, and I was crying so hard I couldn’t continue. I promised myself I would think of one girl every day— Dima Khamis Sedqi Al-Madhoun. I never looked at her number. She deserves more than that. She was my age, a child, when she was murdered like an animal. What if she had liked to draw? Do you think she had a passion for writing? Maybe she was sewing a friend of hers a gift for their upcoming birthday, but she never got the chance to finish. She never will.
There was a girl named Ida who died in the Holocaust. I never looked at her number. She deserves more than that. She was my age, a child, when she was murdered like an animal. Her little brother survived. She never got to come home to him. Do you think she liked to draw? Do you think she had a passion for writing? Maybe she was sewing her brother a gift for his upcoming birthday, but she never got the chance to finish. She never will.
Are these girls really so different? They’re not very different from me. What sets me apart from them, so that I am still alive but they were not granted such a simple right? How is that fair?
I’ll still be posting stuff about my interests. But my heart and my mind are on Palestine and will be until the genocide stops and they are fully aided with recovery and every rotten hearted asshole who condemned them is burning in hell and even after that, because my heart and my mind are on every human being who is just like me in the heart that beats under their skin with passion and love and life and every human being who has been unfairly stripped of it.
Free Palestine. How much longer will the world turn their eyes away?

just got home from my 6 hour shift at work, which i went to directly after school, which i went to as soon as i woke up. now it’s time to eat a dead sloppy joe and write about Roth IRAs until sunrise. i am out of my prescription medication because my school counts absences from medical appointments against you and i will fail 12th grade if i go to the doctor anytime soon. these things exhaust me every day, but i remind myself i should be grateful to have these things to be exhausted by. it is a privilege to have a job and a body that is able to stand for long periods, a privilege to have food readily available to me, a privilege to have an education, to have wifi access to do my homework, to have a roof to do it under, to have a doctors office to go to, and access to my prescription. and it is a privilege to be able to forget, and to take these things for granted. There are people in palestine who have not had homes for months, who do not have food, whose schools have been bludgeoned by israel’s bombs, and whose entire families have been lost under the debris. israel is not allowing donations of food, medicine, clothing, or otherwise into gaza. they have bombed and destroyed many of palestine’s oldest buildings and cultural landmarks, and they do not stop. nothing goes in or comes out of palestine, and i am a resident of the US, a country who is supporting israel’s horrific genocide on the palestinian people. i repost everything i can, and donate what i can afford, and i pray it reaches palestine. i pray it isn’t futile, and i learn their history, and i think of the palestinian journalists who risk their lives every day to keep their history alive. i will write everything i learn in my journal so that, in the event that the journalists’ online presence is erased, i will have a written record of what they told the world. i cannot keep them alive, but i can keep their history alive. AND EVERYONE SHOULD BE KEEPING THEIR HISTORY ALIVE. amplify palestinian journalists and voices, their stories, and learn their history. learn their culture, their language, their poetry, their food, and everything else you can find. AND AS SOMEONE WHO IS GUILTY, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE should EVER FORGET.
BY FORGETTING THEIR STRUGGLES, OR NEGLECTING TO LEARN THEIR CULTURE, WE ARE KILLING THEM TOO. JUST BECAUSE YOU DON’T WANT TO SEE THE BLOOD DOESN’T MEAN THEY AREN’T BLEEDING. TO KEEP ALIVE THE MEMORY OF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN KILLED IS THE VERY LEAST WE CAN DO.
From the river to the sea, palestine will be free.

“The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written: “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.” At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him. Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!” —John 12:12‭-‬19 (NIV)
“Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the warhorses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken. He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth. As for you, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit. Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.” —Zechariah 9:9‭-‬12 (NIV)
“Easter Explained: An 8-Day Guide to Celebrating Holy Week Devotional. Day 1 - Palm Sunday” By Spoken Gospel:
“For the last 1,600 years, Christians around the world remember the last days of Jesus' life during Holy Week. Today is Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday remembers the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey like a rival king to challenge Caesar and his Roman empire.
Like every other empire, Rome controlled its people with the threat of death. But Jesus came to disarm all kings of their favorite weapon by dying and then rising from his grave. Jesus has just performed his seventh and final miracle in John's Gospel. He raised his friend Lazarus from the dead (John 11:43-44). It's final proof that Jesus' Kingship will disarm death and grant life. All of Jesus' miracles hint toward this in some way. Turning water into wine, healing a sick boy, raising a paralytic from his bed, and feeding over 5,000 people with a boy's lunch are all small-scale resurrections. And the people of Israel had an inkling of what all this meant. To them, Jesus was their long-awaited Messiah, the promised King of Israel who would come to heal their bodies, feed their bellies, and take down Rome's deadly rule. And in a very important sense, they were right (John 6:15).
When Jesus saddles a donkey (the traditional beast of kings) and rides into Jerusalem, the people understand it as the coronation ceremony of their death-defeating Messiah. Waving palm branches, a crowd gathers around Jesus and sings from Psalm 118: 'Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the king of Israel!'
John tells us this is all done to fulfill a prophecy given by Zechariah (Zechariah 9:9-10). Jesus intentionally rides in on a donkey to inflame their hopes that he is the King they have been waiting for. He is the King that can defeat death. He will be victorious over all rival claims to his throne and he will save his people (John 12:15-16). That's what 'hosanna' means''save us.' It's the cry of those who long for the King prophesied by Zechariah.
But unlike other kings, Jesus hasn't come to kill, but to die. Like a seed must be buried before it can become a tree, Jesus must be buried before his Kingdom comes. He must master death by first dying. Anyone who wants to join his Kingdom must be willing to accept his death (John 12:24-26). The whole reason Jesus came to earth wasn't to conquer empires by killing them, but to die under their influence (John 12:27). Jesus rides into Jerusalem like a King, but like a King who knows the only way to defeat death is to die.
That's why these events and teachings don't please everyone, especially the Jewish religious establishment. Many within this religious elite did not believe that Israel's true King could suffer and die. In their minds, a Messiah should fight and win. They can't imagine a king that doesn't wield death. And they don't understand that their greatest threat isn't Rome, but death itself. Unwilling to accept a King who embraces death and suffering, they're forced to oppose and reject him.
Palm Sunday is good news because Jesus announces that he has come to dethrone and disarm the empires of this world through his death. We can either embrace the rival Kingship of Jesus or we can align ourselves with the powers that be. We can accept Jesus' coming death as the way to new life or fight to keep our lives as we know them. We can either pledge allegiance to Jesus' Kingdom or join the religious establishment and reject him.
So I pray that on this Palm Sunday you will accept Jesus as the King who died and was raised to show that death and the empires that wield it are defeated.”
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things! The Lord’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!” The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. The Lord is God, and he has made his light shine on us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar. You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” —Psalm 118:1‭, ‬15‭-‬16‭, ‬22‭-‬23‭, ‬27‭-‬29 (NIV)

i have 35 followers on this account.
and while 35 is not a lot, this is the most amount of people i can reach. i should have been doing this sooner but have been FUCKING STUPID about it and have kept silent about it on tumblr to maintain some kind of semblance of escapism for myself here. but my escapism doesn't matter. can palestinians enjoy the luxury of escaping their situation right now? are they LITERALLY able to escape the bombing. nevermind escape, survive any of the tactics pulled by israel to ensure their genocide?
there's a sense of guilt looming over my head telling me that i should be doing more, but in truth, there is not much i can do to help. telling me that i shouldn't take for granted the roof over my head, the safety of my loved ones, food, water, electricity, the ability to literally communicate with the outside world. so let me do the best i can and spread the message with as many people i can.
if you're also wondering what you can do to help, here are some things i am doing and am in the process of doing :
- follow news about gaza through livestreams from the outside : multiple sources have provided access to a livestream of what's going on in gaza. israel has cut off all communication and electricity in gaza and i have a pit in my stomach telling me that they just want no eyes on them for whatever they want to do. all we can do is watch from afar. stay updated.
- watch tiktoks from people who have signed up for the creativity fund on tiktok or similar stuff on other platforms : if you're not able to donate yourself, you can find lots of creators on tiktok using their 5 seconds of YOUR watchtime to donate to help palestine.
- continue sharing, promoting, and "liking" content about palestine : israel is literally doing its best to keep us and palestinians in the dark, metaphorically and literally, from what's happening and what they're planning to do. raise palestinian voices, help them grow, share their stories. everything is forever on the internet ? great. take advantage of that. sharing is a way to ensure that all information we have on the situation stays alive and can't be shadowbanned or deleted or anything. the more people palestinian voices reach, the harder it would be to silence them. it also makes it accessible to anyone and everyone to see the horrors committed by the state of israel, and debunk any fucking idiotic shit their twitter accounts is trying to spew with their photoshopped cartons of milk, their very false infographics and their general flow of lies and propaganda.
- if you can, email or contact your elected representatives. they're...well...supposed to represent you, and their position is more advantaged to get something done. here's a video on tiktok that i found explaining the importance of emails (specifically in canada, bit i'm sure it applies to other places too) :
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMjsax5Qj/
- boycott brands that support or fund israel. now first, let me tell you : the 729 or 871 you find at the beginning of a barcode is not a certain sign the product has been manufactured in israel. this has been debunked since the origin of this lie in 2021 :
https://factcheck.afp.com/social-media-posts-share-misleading-claim-barcode-prefixes-can-show-if-product-made-israel
https://www.google.com/amp/s/thelogicalindian.com/amp/fact-check/barcode-israel-28806
if you have a doubt, fact-check whatever company owns the product to buy, it only takes a few clicks.
second, if you think that boycotting is useless because you're just a grain of sand in the universe : that's absolutely not true. humanity is just a bunch of grains of sand. humanity is a COLLECTIVE. stop thinking your actions don't have an impact. they absolutely do. that's how we've been capable of making such an imapct on companies' stock already!
you probably already know about Starbucks, McDonalds, and Disney. Here are some more companies and brands to stop giving your money to :
- HP : Hewlett Packard helps run the biometric ID system that Israel uses to restrict Palestinian movement.
- Siemens : is complicit in apartheid Israel’s illegal settlement enterprise through its planned construction of the EuroAsia Interconnector. This will link Israel’s electricity grid with Europe’s, allowing illegal settlements on stolen Palestinian land to benefit from Israel-EU trade of electricity produced from fossil gas.
- Puma : Puma sponsors the Israel Football Association, which includes teams in Israel’s illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land.
- Sodastream (has been bought by Pepsico) : Soda Steam is actively complicit in Israel's policy of displacing the indigenous Bedouin-Palestinian citizens of Israel in the Naqab (Negev). SodaStream have a long history of mistreatment of and discrimination against Palestinian workers.
- Ahava : Ahava cosmetics has its production site, visitor center and main store in an illegal Israeli settlement.
- Sabra : Sabra hummus is a joint venture between PepsiCo and the Strauss Group, an Israeli food company that provides financial support to the Israeli army.
these are the first results that popped up with a simple google search, but that's not all. There's also L'oréal, Garnier, Nestlé, and so many more. it's hard to keep track of all of them and jaw-dropping to see just how many of them are involved and actively supporting Israel.
here are some more links for brands and companies to boycott :
https://bdsmovement.net/get-involved/what-to-boycott
https://www.ethicalconsumer.org/ethicalcampaigns/boycotts
multiple instagram and tiktok pages also
if you've already purchased products from them, obviously, don't throw them away. If any product from one of these companies is absolutely essential or if you don't have any other viable choice, it's understandable. Do your best, and whatever effort you make on your scale is helpful. This is also an opportunity to support local shops and businesses, diy your own beauty products, cook more on your own, and instead of directing your money towards genocide, you could direct to donating to aid-to-palestine charities or literally to your pocket. but honestly, the idea of a 70+year ethnic cleansing and literal genocide should be enough.
- now this seems like the most obvious one so that's why it's the last bullet point : donate to charities that support palestine, sign petitions, etc.
there is footage out there of thousands of trucks that cannot cross palestine/"israel" borders because. well. of israel. these trucks contain food, water and hygiene products that donations were supposed to provide. this is heartbreaking that the help you hoped to provide couldn't reach the people it was supposed to reach. if you're thinking your donation is useless, well, i get it. i am having trouble even saying anything about that, because I myself am worried that it could be useless. But you have to stay hopeful, cause that's all most of us have right now. I would say to absolutely continue donating whatever you can to charities that support palestine, that provide water, food, shelter, and emergency medical care. You have to hope that it'll somehow reach them. You have to hope that it'll somehow stop.
At the time of writing, voting results at the UN General Assembly show a margin of 120!! to 14 (and 45 abstinents) for a ceasefire and immediate humanitarian truce between Palestine and israel. And now while that might seem like amazing news, let's remember that the General Assembly is for non-binding resolutions. FOR A BINDING RESOLUTION, the decision must be made by the Security Council. I'm not gonna explain everything, but the permanent members of the UN Security Council are fucking it over. here's full context :
Also, the letter tO THANK Biden that countless celebrities ??? disappointing too. some names on that list really surprised me, and i'm disappointed that people i have supprted in the past have turned around and thanked biden for supporting a genocide. it's so stupid and disappointing.
of course, feel free to tell me if i've cited the wrong sources, if i've missed something, or have said false info in anyway.
i'd also like to add that arab palestinians are not the only victims and that countless innocent jewish people have also been affected by the genocide. that the press vest has meant norhing so far. and that israel is not looking that closely into who they're killing. as Daniel Hagari said, Israel's method is "destruction, not accuracy."
MY HEART GOES OUT TO ANY VICTIM IN GAZA. IN PALESTINE.
BTW : I am not open to conversation with zionists or pro-israels. keep your anon asks very very very far away from me. i will not lend a ❤️listening ear❤️ to someone who ignores or defends genocide, and i don't see anything wrong with ignoring that kind of rhetoric. fuck you.

I stand as firmly against Genocide as I do Antisemitism and Islamophobia. I understand the desire for a safe place for Jewish people to exist in this world. …But I, for the life of me, can't see the justification of the IDF and the state of Israel's actions against the indigenous Palestinian people for the last 75+ years. Humanity has seen apartheid states born of settler colonialism before, and Israel is just such a state. I am a citizen of a county that was founded with labor born from the horrors of chattel slavery on land stolen from the indigenous people who lived here for centuries.  The city in which I live has a shameful history with lynching black people. I do not take for granted the history of the land and people who existed here before me. It informs how I view all the aspects of injustice.
There are a lot of calls for condemnation of the actions of Hamas on October 7, 2023. I can understand the immediate response. What I wonder is, given the context of those acts, however despicable or violent, they may be in the narrative of this time. How will Hamas be viewed in 50 to 100  years from now? I can't help but think about all the same condemnations for people like Nat Turner, Gabriel Prosser, Denmark Vesey, Toussaint Louverture and others like them who all lead sometimes violent rebellions of resistance during their times of oppression. While they were condemned by society at large, especially by those in power, there were certainly a minority of people of that time period that were empathetic to the motivations for said violent actions.
In a more recent time, I think of Nelson Mandela, who was the leader of the ANC and at one point abandoned his nonviolent philosophy to resistance and embraced the ideas of violent resistance. He even spent time training in guerrilla warfare tactics. He is another more modern  example of someone once condemned, specifically by US president Ronald Reagan and British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, who both considered Mandela and the ANC a terrorist organization. Yet today, he is widely considered a “hero of liberation” and was awarded over 260 awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002.
The violence of humans isn't an easy thing to face, which makes it very hard to understand. I don't know exactly how history will look back on this time period and the actions of Hamas or the oppressive state power in which they are resisting, but considering how other similar acts once considered terrorism are now hailed as heroic, I think it's worth thinking about.
I want my grandchildren to know that today December 11, 2023, I do not think violence should ever be the first course of action but that I understand that acts of violence are often considered  justified after time has passed and power structures have evolved. I want them to know that I participated, to the best of my ability, in the global strike, calling for a ceasefire in Palestine. I want them to know that my heart feels broken for the extreme loss of innocent Palestinian lives, over 18,000, many of which were children, which has taken place in the last several weeks. I want them to know I support the freedom of Palestine and safety for people of the Jewish faith to exist in all societies. I do not believe the two are mutually exclusive. The Jewish people are not the government of Israel anymore than I am the government of the United States, which is complicit and financially supportive of the Genocide taking place in Palestine.
Christmas is canceled in Bethlehem’s churches this year because of the ongoing Genocide. While I am not a practicing Christian, I was raised in the faith and maintain a cultural connection to the holiday. Celebration feels hollow, so this Christmas, I will be grieving.

And again, another terror attack.
How many?
Was it my friends?
My friends friends?
Those of you who never had to ask these questions or feel the cycle of panic, horror and grief are very very privileged.
Every time there is a terror attack my mind (and heart) race down the same path. It is a horrible path because it is so familiar. And because it does not end.
Living elsewhere, the news of horror is theoretical. In Israel, the news is a visceral punch in the gut that generates an immediate response – emotions and depending on how close to home the horror hits – action.
How many people abroad, even those who do care, understand that when terror strikes, we all race down the path of terror? These are the questions we all ask. The emotional roller coaster changes depending on the answer.
What happened? Where? How many? It’s not necessary to ask the full question: how many dead? How many injured? The newscasters ask the full question for us. We go with them to the hospital and hear the reports from the medical staff on the status of the dead and injured – people we don’t yet know if we know or not. People who, if not close family or friends are still members of our tribe; family we have not yet met.
One person is too many, too horrible so why do we obsess over numbers? I’m not sure. Perhaps we see numbers as an indicator of how much horror to brace for, how much grief and sorrow will need to be absorbed. We have 6 million reasons to be obsessed with numbers and they don’t end there – thousands more reasons came after, all who died in defense of this land, to grant us life. Soldiers and civilians, those who were killed in battle and who were murdered simply for being Jewish and alive in our ancestral homeland.
After gathering the basic facts of what happened and how many died my mind races down the path, taking personal inventory. Before the families of the dead are notified, we know how many were murdered but not WHO. Who do we know who might have been at the scene of the attack? Where are MY family members, my friends?
When the mind pulls up someone who might have been there – heart pounding, you pick up the phone and call. Where are you? Are you ok?
In the past when there were suicide bombings that caused busses to explode in the streets, when bombers blew themselves up in restaurants murdering entire families, there were so many people calling, trying to find their loved ones that the phone lines were overloaded, and it was difficult to connect with those you were desperately searching for. I’m not sure that the communication infrastructure is better now (maybe, hopefully, it is). When there are fewer people trying to use the lines all at the same time, there is less of a problem.
The worst possibility in this stage of the path of terror is when you know that your loved one was supposed to be in the place where the attack occurred, you call, and they don’t answer. Particularly when they are the kind of person who always answers the phone.
I haven’t been in the situation where you have to start calling hospitals to try to find your loved one, hoping to God to find them injured. Hoping that when the telephone rings it’s your kid, your husband, your sister telling you that they are ok – and not someone else, bringing other news.
I haven’t been in that situation – friends of mine have. I haven’t received the dreaded knock on the door – friends of mine have.
Every time there is a terror attack, it is not just the dead, the injured, and their families that are damaged. It’s not just the children who are forced to grow up without their parents, parents who have to go on living when their children have been ripped from them.

27th July >> Mass Readings (USA)
Thursday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green: A (1))
First Reading Exodus 19:1-2, 9-11, 16-20b The Lord descended on Mount Sinai before the eyes of all the people.
In the third month after their departure from the land of Egypt, on its first day, the children of Israel came to the desert of Sinai. After the journey from Rephidim to the desert of Sinai, they pitched camp. While Israel was encamped here in front of the mountain, the LORD told Moses, “I am coming to you in a dense cloud, so that when the people hear me speaking with you, they may always have faith in you also.” When Moses, then, had reported to the LORD the response of the people, the LORD added, “Go to the people and have them sanctify themselves today and tomorrow. Make them wash their garments and be ready for the third day; for on the third day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai before the eyes of all the people.”
On the morning of the third day there were peals of thunder and lightning, and a heavy cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people in the camp trembled. But Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God, and they stationed themselves at the foot of the mountain. Mount Sinai was all wrapped in smoke, for the LORD came down upon it in fire. The smoke rose from it as though from a furnace, and the whole mountain trembled violently. The trumpet blast grew louder and louder, while Moses was speaking and God answering him with thunder.
When the LORD came down to the top of Mount Sinai, he summoned Moses to the top of the mountain.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.

R/ Glory and praise for ever!
“Blessed are you on the throne of your Kingdom, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.”
R/ Glory and praise for ever!
“Blessed are you who look into the depths from your throne upon the cherubim, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.”
R/ Glory and praise for ever!
“Blessed are you in the firmament of heaven, praiseworthy and glorious forever.”
R/ Glory and praise for ever!
Gospel Acclamation cf. Matthew 11:25
Alleluia, alleluia. Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth; you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Matthew 13:10-17 Because knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of heaven has been granted to you, but to them it has not been granted.
The disciples approached Jesus and said, “Why do you speak to the crowd in parables?” He said to them in reply, “Because knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of heaven has been granted to you, but to them it has not been granted. To anyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; from anyone who has not, even what he has will be taken away. This is why I speak to them in parables, because they look but do not see and hear but do not listen or understand. Isaiah’s prophecy is fulfilled in them, which says:
You shall indeed hear but not understand, you shall indeed look but never see. Gross is the heart of this people, they will hardly hear with their ears, they have closed their eyes, lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and be converted, and I heal them.
“But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

2024 Black Friday, Classic Faith, and Sowing Seeds on Cross Street and Neon Electric Avenue; Because the Truth is: G-d Is Love, Love Never Fails, and Miracles Are The Winds In Our Sails…

TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English) Page 1834: Daniel 12:1 "At that time, the great prince, Michael, who stands beside the sons of your people, will appear. It will be a time of trouble, the like of which has never been since the nation came into being. At that time, your people will be rescued, all who are found inscribed in the book. Daniel 12:2 Many of those that sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to eternal life, others to reproaches, to everlasting abhorrence. Daniel 12:3 And the knowledgeable will be radiant like the bright expanse of sky, and those who lead the many to righteousness will be like the stars forever and ever.
TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English) Pages 25 and 26: Genesis 15:1 Some time later, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision. He said, "Fear not, Abram, I am a shield to you; Your reward shall be very great." Genesis 15:2 But Abram said, "O Lord God, what can You give me, seeing that I shall die childless, and the one in charge of my household is Dammesek Eliezer!" Genesis 15:3 Abram said further, "Since You have granted me no offspring, my steward will be my heir." Genesis 15:4 The word of the Lord came to him in reply, "That one shall not be your heir; none but your very own issue shall be your heir." Genesis 15:5 He took him outside and said, "Look toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them." And He added, "So shall your offspring be." Genesis 15:6 And because he put his trust in the Lord, He reckoned it to his merit.
TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English) Page 145: Exodus 15:1 The Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord. They said: I will sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously; Horse and driver He has hurled into the sea. Exodus 15:2 The Lord is my strength and might; He is become my deliverance. This is my God and I will enshrine Him; The God of my father, and I will exalt Him. Exodus 15:3 The Lord, the Warrior--Lord is His name! Exodus 15:4 Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; And the pick of his officers Are drowned in the Sea of Reeds. Exodus 15:5 The deeps covered them; They went down into the depths like a stone. Exodus 15:6 Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power. Your right hand, O Lord, shatters the foe!
TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English) Page 408: Deuteronomy 15:6 For the Lord your God will bless you as He has promised you: you will extend loans to many nations, but require none yourself; you will dominate many nations, but they will not dominate you.
1 Corinthians 15:3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:5 and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. 1 Corinthians 15:6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 1 Corinthians 15:7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 1 Corinthians 15:8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. 1 Corinthians 15:9 For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
Galatians 4:6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”
Mark 6:1 Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples. Mark 6:2 When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. “Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? Mark 6:3 Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. Mark 6:4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.”
2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Corinthians 5:2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 2 Corinthians 5:3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.

Room 303 was a room within the Heart O' The City Hotel from Mega City in the Matrix. It contained a hardline, and so was a location that redpills could use to safely escape from the Matrix. Trinity conducted her surveillance of Thomas Anderson from a laptop computer in this room. She was forced to flee after the Agents cut the room's hardline, forcing her to find another exit. Neo was directed to the same hotel room to escape from the Matrix and pursuing Agents. However, Agent Smith ambushed Neo and shot him before he could reach the phone there. After defeating Smith, Neo escaped the Matrix using the phone in Room 303 before the Nebuchadnezzar disabled the Sentinels, and itself, by using EMP. Sixty years later, Neo's Modal contains a simulated reenactment of Trinity's escape from the Agents in this room which is witnessed by Bugs. The number "303" appears to be an allusion to the character Trinity, whose name in Christian theology defines the three-in-one nature of the single Christian God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This allusion is supported by Trinity kissing the lifeless Neo, whose life functions return as Neo transfigures into the One after exiting the room. (Fandom.com)

John 1:45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
John 14:5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” John 14:8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Acts 8:5 Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there. Acts 8:9 Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, Acts 8:10 and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, “This man is rightly called the Great Power of God.” Acts 8:11 They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his sorcery. Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Acts 8:13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.

Despair, or folly?' said Gandalf. 'It is not despair, for despair is only for those who see the end beyond all doubt. We do not. It is wisdom to recognize necessity, when all other courses have been weighed, though as folly it may appear to those who cling to false hope. Well, let folly be our cloak, a veil before the eyes of the Enemy! For he is very wise, and weighs all things to a nicety in the scales of his malice. But the only measure that he knows is desire, desire for power; and so he judges all hearts. Into his heart the thought will not enter that any will refuse it, that having the Ring we may seek to destroy it. If we seek this, we shall put him out of reckoning.' For when I am weak, then I am strong.

If it hurts you, just breathe in When it pains you, just believe in The radiant light of the morning sun We can find our redemption
There is hope, there is hope for my lonely soul There is hope, there is hope to be made whole There is life, there is life to be set free There is life there is life surrounding me There is hope, there is hope for my broken heart There is hope, there is hope for a brand new start There is life, there is life give me eyes to see There is life, there is life you have captured me
Love is strong, love is strong, love is strong It's been there holding you all along Everything thrown away will be new again And love will be the last thing standing
Keep on dreaming of the day when it all will change Believe in the end, love wins If you're waiting for the time when your sun will shine Oh, look above cause love wins"

TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English) Page 15: Genesis 9:5 But for your own life-blood I will require a reckoning: I will require it of every beast; of man, too, will I require a reckoning for human life, of every man for that of his fellow man!
Acts 9:5 “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied.
Mark 15:1 Very early in the morning, the chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, made their plans. So they bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate. Mark 15:2 “Are you the king of the Jews?” asked Pilate. “You have said so,” Jesus replied. Mark 15:16 The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. Mark 15:17 They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. Mark 15:18 And they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” Mark 15:19 Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. Mark 15:20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him. Mark 15:21 A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross. Mark 15:22 They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). Mark 15:23 Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. Mark 15:24 And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get. Mark 15:25 It was nine in the morning when they crucified him. Mark 15:26 The written notice of the charge against him read: The King of the Jews. Mark 15:27 They crucified two rebels with him, one on his right and one on his left. Mark 15:28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. Mark 15:29 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, “So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, Mark 15:30 come down from the cross and save yourself!” Mark 15:31 In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! Mark 15:32 Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him. Mark 15:33 At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. Mark 15:34 And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”). Mark 15:35 When some of those standing near heard this, they said, “Listen, he’s calling Elijah.” Mark 15:36 Someone ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down,” he said. Mark 15:37 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. Mark 15:38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Mark 15:39 And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” Mark 15:40 Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joseph, and Salome.

TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English) Pages 77, 78, and 79: Genesis 37:8 His brothers answered, "Do you mean to reign over us? Do you mean to rule over us?" And they hated him even more for his talk about his dreams. Genesis 37:9 He dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers, saying, "Look, I have had another dream: And this time, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me." Genesis 37:10 And when he told it to his father and brothers, his father berated him. "What," he said to him, "is this dream you have dreamed? Are we to come, I and your mother and yhour brothers, and bow low to you to the ground?" Genesis 37:17 The man said, "They have gone from here, for I heard them say: Let us go to Dothan." So Joseph followed his brothers and found them at Dothan. Genesis 37:18 They saw him from afar, and before he came close to them they conspired to kill him. Genesis 37:19 They said to one another, "Here comes that dreamer! Genesis 37:20 Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits; and we can say, 'A savage beast devoured him.' We shall see what comes of his dreams!" Genesis 37:21 But when Reuben heard it, he tried to save him from them. He said, "Let us not take his life." Genesis 37:22 And Reuben went on, "Shed no blod! Cast him into that pit out in the wilderness, but do not touch him yourselves"--intending to save him from them and restore him to his father. Genesis 37:23 When Joseph came up to his brothers, they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the ornamented tunic that he was wearing, Genesis 37:24 and took him and cast him into the pit. The pit was empty; there was no water in it. Genesis 37:25 Then they sat down to a meal. Looking up, they saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead, their camels bearing gum, balm, and ladanum to be taken to Egypt. Genesis 37:26 Then Judah said to his brothers, "What do we gain by killing our brother and covering up his blood? Genesis 37:27 Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, but let us not do away with him ourselves. After all, he is our brother, our own flesh." His brothers agreed. Genesis 37:28 When Midianite traders passed by, they pulled Joseph up out of the pit. They sold Joseph for twenty pieces of silver to the Ishmaelites, who brought Joseph to Egypt.

Government drops charges against all inauguration protesters "The solidarity we showed as defendants won out," said one activist whose charges were previously dropped. July 6, 2018 11:48 PM UTC WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors on Friday moved to drop charges against the last 39 people accused of participating in a violent protest on the day of donald trump's presidential inauguration. The motion to dismiss charges by the U.S. attorney's office seemingly ends an 18-month saga that started with the Justice Department attempting to convict more than 190 people. That effort saw the government facing off against an intensely coordinated grassroots political opposition network that made Washington the focus of a nationwide support campaign — offering free lodging for defendants, legal coordination and other support. Members of that activist network were declaring victory on Friday. "This is huge news," said Dylan Petrohilos, a Washington-based activist who was one of the original defendants, but had his charges dropped earlier this year. "The solidarity we showed as defendants won out." More than 200 people were arrested after the protest, during which several store windows were broken and a parked limo set ablaze. Two group trials ended in defeats for the U.S. Attorney's Office, which was hindered by the fact that most protesters wore similar black clothing and covered their faces. The first trial ended with acquittals for all six defendants. After that defeat, the government dropped charges against 129 defendants, including Petrohilos, saying prosecutors would focus on the defendants against whom they had the strongest evidence. But a second trial for four people in May ended in acquittals on most charges and a hung jury on the rest. Activists credited a unified defense strategy with prevailing. This strategy included persuading defendants — sometimes over the objections of their lawyers — not to accept plea bargains. "Solidarity was what won the case," said Sam Menefee-Libey, a member of the DC Legal Posse activist collective. "I hope that organizers and people on the left study it. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/government-drops-charges-against-all-inauguration-protesters-n889531

The bondholders stand to lose their US$1.25-billion investment under the purchase plan being pushed by donald trump. Trump Entertainment filed for bankruptcy reorganisation protection in February, the third time it or its corporate predecessors had done so. The company had been struggling with crushing debt that became even more painful when the economy soured and competition from slot parlours in Pennsylvania and New York increased, siphoning off some of Atlantic City's best customers who can now gamble closer to home. http://mobile.jamaica-gleaner.com/20091008/business/business2.php

Magdala (Aramaic: מגדלא, romanized: Magdalā, meaning "tower"; Hebrew: מגדל, romanized: Migdál; Arabic: المجدل, romanized: al-Majdal) was an ancient Jewish city on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, 5 km (3 miles) north of Tiberias. In the Babylonian Talmud it is known as Magdala Nunayya (Aramaic: מגדלא נוניה, meaning "Tower of the Fishes"), and which some historical geographers think may refer to Tarichaea, literally the place of processing fish. I'm not sure I even have any UK followers but it is imperative that people put pressure on the Labour Party specifically to show support to Palestine.
Labour are not in government. But their huge loss in 2019 was due in large part to Jeremy Corbyn's pro Palestine position (alongside Brexit). Labour are predicted to win the next election, this time with a leader who is adamantly pro Israel, who said Israel has the right to restrict water to Palestinians - and then said he didnt mean that but provided no clarity on what he meant, with himself and many spokespeople simply repeating "Israel has a right to defend itself" on a loop.
Labour is split on Israel and Palestine in a way that the Conservatives are not, several MPs support Palestinian freedom, coucillors have actually resigned since the latest wave of pro Israel statements from the leader. The votership is also split while Conservatives generally support Israel and even those who don't are as invested as Labour voters. We can see the effects of this in the leadership, Keir Starmer has at least given some lip service to civilians here and there and at least making certain points about what is happening to Palestinians specifically*. These things seem trivial but they're not; what they show is that the Labour Party know they are in a more precarious position on this issue than their counterparts.
Its worth noting though, that the Conservatives have also made some very small concessions to the notion that Israel might be in the wrong, for example Sunak making a big point of saying that he urged restraint when visiting Israel (to insist they have the UKs full support). This post is not saying "ease up on the Conservatives because its pointless".
If Keir Starmer wins a landslide - which he is likely to do - hot on the heels of everything he's done and said over the last few days, in contrast to the shocking loss in 2019, it sends a message clear as day that Labour voters and by extension the UK are largely pro Israel, that being pro Palestine is a much bigger vote killer than being pro Israel.
And before you say "Okay but vote for the lesser of two evils!" this is not about voting, the election is not even called yet, put the pressure on NOW, before deciding whether this would deter your vote, even if you've already decided, have been decided since you knew what voting was, don't let them be complacent, don't let them take you for granted.
*This is edited from what it said before, yes, mostly because it didn't make a lot of sense out of context and I didn't want to detract from the point by adding the relevant context, also there has been more than one occasion so a general point is arguably better.

大家好! I'm more convinced with every passing day that genocide is being committed against the Palestinians in Gaza. This belief grows with the emergence of horrifying videos and images of malnourished, emaciated people, such as the one below. Anyone who has a humanitarian streak, who possesses compassion, will be very aghast at this level of sheer suffering. I shared them with J who was totally appalled, as was I.
Tumblr media
If Israel alleges that there isn't mass starvation in Gaza, my reply is: prove it. Release current video footage of trucks full of food and critical medical supplies entering the war-torn area, as well as of adequate rations of food and basic necessities being distributed. At present, what I've seen, read and watched suggests that an entire population risks famine as a result of Israel severely restricting Palestinians' access to food. To me, this is downright nefarious and morally wrong. Until there's irrefutable proof that enough aid is flowing into Gaza, allies that continue supplying weapons to Israel should also be held accountable for their reluctance to stop doing so.
Tumblr media
If, in future, Western countries accuse China of human rights abuses in Xinjiang, my retort will be "What about the genocide in Gaza and your continued weapons supplies to Israel?" This war has exposed the hypocrisy of nations which believe in their own exceptionalism and moral superiority. What morals are they even talking about? The fastest way to prevent mass famine in Gaza is a permanent ceasefire, not building a port for humanitarian aid to be shipped by sea. By the time this project is completed, many more Palestinians might have starved to death!

Seeing the severe deprivation of Palestinians over the last few months makes me even more grateful for substantial breakfasts with protein, vegetables and a carbohydrate. This Gaza war made me realise that everything we've taken for granted can vanish in an instant. It also made me question whether the rules based order is still relevant in today's world. When countries blatantly flout those rules, yet insist that others abide by it, it reeks of double standards. Maybe it's time to do away with this outdated system and observe international law instead?

I welcome a multipolar world where countries have their say in global affairs rather than being dictated to by others. Having our voices heard and our nations' interests as well as sovereignty respected is important. This is especially so in light of Israel's violation of human rights in Gaza today. Multipolarity seems to be a fairer system than the rules based order and I hope it's here to stay. 下次见!

(I hate the title but the article itself is very good.)
Due to the security situation, we could not travel to the West Bank to meet with Palestinians, as I have done in the past. On this trip, I did not confront the “other” or absorb personal wartime anecdotes in which Israelis were not the victim. It was unsettlingly refreshing to take a break from considering the other side. The green pastoral farmland of southern Israel rolled by my window on the drive back to Tel Aviv from Be’eri, and with the smoky scent of death still lingering in my nose, I struggled to wrap my head around the apocalyptic scene I had just witnessed: a community of secular, liberal Jews — people just like me — who were raped and kidnapped and slaughtered in the year 2023. Seeking to distract myself, I opened my phone and began tapping through Instagram stories, only to face post after post decrying the IDF’s actions in Gaza. I felt hot resentment fill my chest. How could I be expected to care about the collateral damage of Israel’s efforts to destroy Hamas after what we went through? How is it that so many deny these atrocities? Sitting with this discomfort on that silent van ride, I observed how difficult it was for me to accept Palestinian pain and humanity in my current state of mind. In that moment, I was internalizing a dynamic fundamental to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Throughout the rest of the trip, as I continuously observed how easy it is while in Israel to dismiss Palestinians’ victimhood, I considered how the same dynamic exists in the other direction. This war comes at a time when Israelis and Palestinians are already struggling to accept each other’s legitimacy. A joint Israeli-Palestinian public opinion poll conducted in December 2022 showed that 84% of both Israeli Jews and Palestinians see themselves as the exclusive victim in the conflict, and that 63% and 90% of those groups respectively believe that this victimhood “grants them with a moral right to do anything they deem as necessary for survival.” A Gallup survey taken after Oct. 7 now shows that 65% of Israelis oppose Palestinian statehood, as opposed to 61% who supported it in 2021. 72% of Palestinians believe that Hamas made the correct decision to carry out the Oct. 7 attacks. But who could talk to Gazans about Israelis’ trauma when Israel has blown their neighborhoods to rubble and wiped out entire families? Palestinians aren’t ready to recognize that their side carried out senseless atrocities, and it’s not because they are all Nazis. They are also a people under existential threat. After decades of an eroding horizon for statehood and Israeli leaders now openly calling to push them out of Gaza, the only way forward many see is defeating Israel. Just as Israelis clamor about “no innocents in Gaza,” Palestinians are doubling down on armed “resistance” against Jews. When all you feel is your own pain, it’s difficult to be measured in responding to threats. In the short term, we cannot change Israelis’ blindness to the other side. As Jews in the diaspora, we should embrace solidarity with Israelis and allow ourselves to feel their pain and fear, especially at a time when so few in the world are willing to do so. But we also must step back to consider how narratives and trauma shape the conflict. It is on us, those who have a personal stake and the physical distance to put it into context, to emotionally understand and intellectually reject rhetoric that ignores, demonizes, or dehumanizes the other. We don’t need to be objective, but we do need to remain clear-eyed about all obstacles preventing a just future for the region, including those on our own side.

#DailyDevotion Only The LORD's Promises Keep & Strengthen Us
Tumblr media
#DailyDevotion Only The LORD's Promises Keep & Strengthen Us Psalm 119 113I hate two-faced people, but I love Your teaching (torah). 114You are my Hiding Place and my Shield —I wait for Your promise (dabar). 115Go away from me, wicked men – I want to do what my God orders (mitsvah). 116Help me as You promised (imrah) so that I may live, and don't let me be disappointed in my hope. 117Strengthen me so I may be saved, and I will always respect Your laws (choq). 118You reject all who leave Your laws (edah) to go wrong with a lie they deceive themselves. 119You get rid of all the wicked on earth like dross, but I love the truths (edah) You wrote. 120My flesh shudders in fear of You; I stand in awe of Your judgments (misphat). Two-face, some translations are half-hearted or double-minded. Such are people who say they worship the LORD but they really put their trust in other things or people for every good. Hate is a pretty strong word. Are we supposed to hate? St. Paul tells us to stay away from people who call themselves Christians but who live unrepentant lives. We can't avoid unbelievers though without leaving the world. (1 Cor. 5:11ff, Rom. 16:17) We on the other hand should love the LORD's teaching. We see His teachings in the Gospels and the letters of the Apostles. The LORD Jesus Christ is our Hiding Place and Shield. We turn to Him from protection against all evil thoughts and actions. We are called to wait for His promise. Peter tells us in his second epistle, "4Thus He has given us His precious and very great promises, so that after you have escaped the corruption that lust brought into the world, you might by these promises share in the divine nature." Bad company corrupts good character so it is right for the psalmist to expel wicked men from his midst. It's tough enough dealing with our own flesh in wanting to do what God had commanded us. We don't need to hang around false Christians who tempt us into do evil. A promise we can look to is from Isaiah 45, "22Turn to Me to be saved, all you most distant parts of the world, because I am God, and there is no other." We need to remind the LORD of His promises not because He forgets but because we do. Sometimes it seems long in coming but He will and does fulfill all His promises. His petition to be strengthened so he may be saved reminds us that we need to continually be strengthened by the LORD to remain faithful and be saved. He has given baptism, the Supper, absolution and the preaching and teaching of His Word to keep His promise of preserving us in the faith unto life everlasting. By His strengthening we keep all that He tells us. Verses 118 and 119 should be terrifying to those who pick and choose what parts of God's Word they are going to keep and not keep. True, many of the particulars of the Mosaic Law are no longer in force. They were for Israel as a nation state. Jesus has fulfilled it all for us. Yet, there remains in the New Testament His moral law which we keep by the Gospel. We should not dismiss the holiness Jesus has called us to through His holy apostles. We should not be like those who abuse God's grace in Christ Jesus in order to sin. They will not remain with the LORD. He will get rid of them all in the Lake of Fire on the Last Day. We love all truths the LORD has given us through the apostles and prophets. Our flesh should indeed shudder at the LORD's commands. It never keeps them. It will be purified by fire and a new glorified body will be given us at the resurrection. We indeed should stand in awe of all the LORD has given us. In them we find the power, wisdom, might, grace, mercy and peace of the LORD our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Merciful Father, grant us Your grace through Word and Sacrament to uphold all You have given us so we may shun those who reject Your teaching but call themselves Your people and live according to Your will. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Read the full article

Open Heaven 6th December 2023 RCCG Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Take Notes.
Tumblr media
TOPIC: Take Notes. MEMORISE: Isaiah 30:8 Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: READ:  Jeremiah 30:1-2 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, 2 Thus speaketh the Lord God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.
OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY
There is one thing that many people take for granted and that is the power of taking notes. I see many people who do not take notes while listening to sermons and I wonder if they know what they are missing. There is a popular saying that the faintest pen is smarter than the sharpest brain. You miss a lot when you don’t take notes. My professor of Mathematics who got his PhD in the year 1928, told us that you have to read something ten times to remember it all. If you did not take notes, how will you read it over again in order to remember? Some messages are not very easy to swallow at the time you are hearing them, but one day, the Holy Spirit may take you back to that note and then open it up to you on a deeper level. It is a matter of even more concern when ministers of the gospel who expect the congregation to be taking notes when they are preaching don’t take notes when other ministers are preaching. If you don’t have an actual notebook with you, at least you can use a note taking app on your smart phone or tablet. When a sermon is going on, the Holy Spirit is likely to whisper some things into your ears; they could be prophecies or instructions. You need to write those things down so that you don’t forget. Also, as the preacher is speaking, to help you practice what is being preached, you may need to write down one or two actions you will take in line with the sermon. You need to also write down aspects of the sermon or passages of the Bible that you would like to conduct deeper study on. You must understand that these notes are treasures from which you and others coming after you can gain from. At the Open Heavens International Centre, there are some of my old sermon notes from over 30 years ago; they are treasures for many who visit the gallery to draw lessons from. In Revelation 1:19, God told John to write the things he was seeing down as a treasure for us today to know what is to come in the end time. We also saw similar instances from our memory verse and Bible reading today. Beloved, you should take notes whenever you are listening to or studying the word of God.
