#I need to go rewatch Kipo now

Note
Wolf from Kipo for the character ask?
First impression: What's with this sassy lost Wolf Child?
Impression now: Best character in an amazing cast of characters! Her backstory still makes me so emotional…
Favorite moment: The scene where Wolf and Kipo exchange birthday gifts. Closely followed by Wolf and Scarlemagne’s team up in Season 3!
Idea for a story: Maybe an angsty fic where Kipo does something that reminds Wolf of her pack-siblings…
Unpopular opinion: Season 3 of Kipo is good but I felt they could have done more with Wolf and Margot. Wolf had such a fantastic character arc in Season 1 and it could have been explored even further when confronted with the wolf-sister who turned on her. Maybe they could have re-introduced Margot earlier?
Favorite relationship: WOLF AND KIPO. BEST SISTERS.
Favorite headcanon: The Wolf movie gets released and it’s amazing :)

Rules: List 10 of your comfort shows, then tag 10 people
Tagged by @katiekeysburg about a month ago. This took me forever, sorry!
Tagging some mutuals from my notes: @minutia-r @sorry-bonebag @re-bee-key @theendofcake @beccaelizabeth315 @anotherlovr @lotesseflower @morathicain @firlalaith @lena221bee
Interpreting this as shows I watch when I want to feel happy and warm and cared for. I don't often rewatch shows, so some of these are ongoing and others are just ones that made me feel good when I did watch them.
Apologies to all the other feel good shows I've had along the way thst didn'tmake the cut. :-)
What's My Line: A game show from the 50s/60s where the panel guesses people's occupations, and also who the celebrity guest is (they're blindfolded for that one). If you want to watch light banter, low-stakes games (extra points are frequently handed out), and hear about jobs you didn't even know existed, this is perfect. Available on YouTube for free, too!
Taskmaster: Another low-stakes game show, this time with celebrities having to perform absolutely ridiculous tasks. This frequently involves not so much thinking outside of the box as thinking outside of the planet. Also, the two hosts have an amusingly dom/sub thing going on.
Queer Eye: Five gay people come to a person, or sometimes a group of people, to fix up their appearance, home, and personal lives. The results can be quibbled with sometimes, but for the most part, this is like a warm hug.
Ghosts: A young couple move into a house that turns out to be haunted. Since they're now so deep in debt that they can't move, they have to make friends with the ghosts. Exists in two versions, UK and US. The UK fans will swear up and down that theirs is the only good version, but the truth is that both are good, and as a comfort show specifically, the US version may be more effective, since it's softer and cuddlier.
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts: In the future, humans live underground, mutated animals ("mutes") roam the earth, and everyone is at each other's throat. Until a girl named Kipo accidentally ends up on the surface and decides to make friends with all the animals, which she turns out to be surprisingly good at. Also, there's lots of singing.
Press Gang: Childhood favourite show that still holds up, about a group of teenagers making a newspaper together. Good drama, good humour, and also, the editor is a smart, ruthless girl named Lynda, who has lots of Belligerent Sexual Tension with Spike, one of the reporters and resident rebel, in a classic 80s/90s romantic trope. In case that's your kind of thing. :-)
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power: Girl who was stolen by the Evil Horde as a child discovers that she's actually the destined hero of the Princess Alliance, their enemies. Sweet story, very queer, and with surprisingly nuanced villains. Doesn't quite measure up to Kipo in my book (I know most people disagree), but almost.
Julie and the Phantoms: Musically gifted teenager discovers that the ghosts of a dead rock band "lives" in her garage. From the creator of High School Musical, but so much better. Sadly cancelled after only one season (very unfortunate timing with covid).
And since I've been watching all these Asian QLs lately, naturally I need to add the softest of those:
She Makes My Heart Flutter: Short and sweet about a lesbian bar owner who gets her routine changed when her niece comes to work for her. Only takes a little bit more than an hour to watch, and it's lovely the whole time.
Old Fashion Cupcake: Office romance about a 39-year-old manager whose midlife crisis is interrupted with the help of the 29-year-old working for him, who dares him to try new things and experience life like a young girl would. Lots of tasty food in addition to the romance.

How Kipo Makes Great Villains
Tumblr media
I stayed up all night binging the second season of Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, and I’ll admit. Going into it, my expectations were a bit low. Season One had such a self-contained objective, I didn’t know what the show was going to do with itself with a second season. But the second season of Kipo blew me out of the water. So, now I’m going to rant about why Scarlemagne and Jamack are fantastic villains for Kipo to confront, and what Kipo teaches us about writing antagonists. Obviously, spoilers ahead, but if you’re caught up, prepare to gush over great villains. If you’re not, do yourself a favor and go away, experience the second season for yourself, and then come back and fangasm over how great it was.
Tumblr media
JAMACK
Kipo’s first antagonist is a perfect character foil. That is to say, Jamack is the exact opposite of Kipo. When Jamack meets Kipo, they are in exact opposite situations. He’s in a group while she’s alone. Later, when Kipo finds friends and is no longer alone, Jamack is kicked out of his group, forcing him to survive on his own. Jamack is very focused on self-interest and self-preservation, belittling his underlings for minor mistakes. His outlook is cold, cynical, and jaded. On top of that, Jamack grew up in this crazy world where only the strong survive. He’s also a part of the Mob Frogs, which seem to be the only mute culture with internal hierarchy. Other groups have a leader, but only the Mob Frogs seem to have levels of rank within the organization, causing the Mob Frogs to be competitive, even among themselves. So it makes perfect sense why Jamack will stoop to pretty much anything to get what he wants. Because that’s the mentality that allows for upward mobility in Las Vista. Thus, when Kipo arrives and upends the status quo and proves Jamack’s way of living wrong, he lashes out. Initially seeing it as her stealing his life from him, Jamack begins to gradually change. Jamack is on a similar and reflected hero’s journey to Kipo, and as she grows, so too will he. It’s no surprise that Jamack will eventually become a genuine ally of Kipo, even if he’s still hiding behind a Tsundere mask.
Tumblr media
SCARLEMAGNE
My god is this a fantastic villain. In the first season, he was genuinely creepy and intimidating, but in season 2, Hugo became incredibly sympathetic. As season 2 went on, I kept debating to myself who is more of the Zuko of this show: Jamack or Hugo. Scarlemagne serves the same narrative purpose as the Diamonds in Steven Universe, about how words and kindness can work through problems. But I think it’s done a little better here, since Hugo isn’t a world-destroying dictator. He’s done some damage, but nothing that was really lasting. His pheremones can wear off. The humans he’s enslaved can regain their freedom. So, Hugo’s actual damage as a villain is much smaller and thus much more forgivable than immortal galactic conquerors. Hugo shows this deeply in that he genuinely seems like he wants to make Kipo happy, but he’s been hurt for so long that he doesn’t understand how to. And this genuine care seems to come a lot more from his core personality, and not just Kipo making friendship speeches. Even Steven didn’t really change the minds of the Diamonds. He just kind of proved he was their sister/nephew, and they suddenly cared about what he had to say. With Hugo, it’s much easier to see that he’s not a monster, just a scared and confused man lashing out to maintain control in a barbaric world. It makes him a character who you don’t want to see succeed in his evil plans, but you don’t want to watch him fail and lose everything he's worked for. You simultaneously want to hug him, and also punch him. It’s that perfect balance that makes Scarlemagne so well-written. He’s officially on my list of top 10 tv cartoon villains. Also, it’s hysterical that Hugo is voiced by the live action Beast, and the second half of this season was honestly a better Beauty and the Beast story than the live action movie. Am I the only one who hears Dr. Animo from Ben 10 when Scarlemagne speaks though?
Tumblr media
DR. EMILIA
Talk about bait and switch. I don’t know if it was their intention, but I assumed the woman in the bird mask was Song, Kipo’s mother. It was clear that she and her goons were wearing burrow jumpsuits, and as it seemed more and more like her mother wasn’t dead, so I assumed this had to be her. This was such a great misdirection. Assuming she’s the hero because of our opinions of Scarlemagne, it’s what gives this show such amazing rewatch potential as now you can go back and pay attention to her words and actions and realize what she’s genuinely like. But even on a character level, she’s a fantastic villain. Kipo is a master of Talk no Jutsu, a fan term from the Naruto fandom, as he had a knack for talking literally anyone into becoming his friend, even the ones actively trying to kill him. Steven Universe and Kipo seem to be the other two masters of this technique. But Dr. Emilia will likely be immune to this. She doesn’t strike me as the sit and talk things out type. Because there are times when words won’t stop people, but action will. Dr. Emilia is a villain Kipo can’t reason with, someone she can’t befriend with a good speech. But even on a philosophical level, Dr. Emilia is fantastic because while she’s clearly a villain, her goal isn’t inherently evil. She sees mutation as a bad thing and wants to restore mute DNA to their normal animal forms. Which is a large part of why humans need to live in burrows. She wants humans to not live in fear, and to restore animals to their genetic origins. At least in theory, it’s a benign enough goal. The problem comes when you consider that animal mutes have sentience. they can speak and express desires. Robbing them of that is akin to purposefully mentally disabling a group in order to be dominant over them, which adds to the great themes here because there’s a loose veil of animals as an enslaved species. Kept in cages or as pets, ruled over or hunted by man who views itself as the superior race, the same sort of thinking that white slave-owners used to rationalize their prejudice. Thus it’s also a loose allegory for Dr. Emilia wanting to return emancipated slaves back to their chains. This is why she’s such a good villain. At face value, her goal sounds sort of reasonable, but when you examine what she’s really doing, it’s incredibly dark and cruel. That level of detail and writing is amazing. Talk about a well-written villain. I’m sorry, I can’t stop gushing.
Tumblr media
Kipo demonstrates three equally compelling types of villains, and handles all of them amazingly. Jamack is the hero’s villainous foil, on his own mirrored hero’s journey as hers. His situation is always an exact opposite of hers, as was his life experiences, which led to such a stark difference of ideas. Thus, why it takes her utterly alien character traits to kick start his character arc. Hugo is a beautifully flawed and tragic villain whose goal of bringing the mutes together under a single ruler is genuinely compelling, but you still don’t want him to succeed the wrong way. Yet, if he could achieve his goal in a less hostile and evil way, I doubt fans would be upset with him achieving this goal otherwise. It’s just his approach that’s problematic. Dr. Emilia seems reasonable enough on paper, but once you unpack what she’s really doing, you can read a really deep allegory for slavery and racial superiority into her character that really complicates the otherwise black-and-white opinion of her character. Each of these villains shows ways you can make a compelling antagonist, and if you read this without watching Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeats despite my spoiler warnings, do yourself a favor and watch it. You will not be disappointed.

Aisha/Layla’s Wack Love Life (spoilers for S3+)
I’m on a Winx Club roll right now, but I do plan on making a post about Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. ANYWAYS. I just finished rewatching S6 and I can’t really remember if people thought S6 was good or bad but that’s not what I wanted to talk about for this post (although if people are interested I can discuss some of the things I liked and disliked about it) I’m here to talk about Aisha/Layla’s love life that I wish the show took better care of. (NOTE: I will probably be using both Aisha and Layla’s name interchangeably, please realize they are the same person and I am only switching them based on the season I am talking about. For reference, I am using Layla for S3-4 and Aisha for S5+)
I’m going to split this analysis into four parts, the first three will be about the boys they introduced throughout the show to be Aisha’s love interest and my personal opinions about them. The final part will just be final thoughts about what was appropriate for the show plot-wise and their compatibility with Aisha. So yes, warning, this is a long-ass analysis.
NABU: Introduced in S3 as the mysterious Ophir who was stalking Layla for like three (3) episodes before actually talking to the girl. He was arranged to marry Layla and was initially upset over the idea, thus stalking to figure out who the heck this girl was. He lasted for technically a full season before dying in S4, sacrificing himself to stop the Wizards of the Black Circle. I personally really liked the development that Nabu and Layla have throughout the season. From being completely upset over the idea of spying to apologizing and realizing that they had real chemistry. I learned to really love this couple in S4 because as the season goes on and there was the ridiculous drama between Andy + his band vs the specialist, there were small clips that showed that Nabu and Layla still loved each other very much. In one episode after the girls have a fight with the specialists, they walked away from each other, but Nabu and Layla looked back as they split off in (I’m sorry, I can’t think of the episode atm but if I find it, I’ll add it in). Between all the couples, I found Nabu x Layla (and Helia x Flora) to be the least problematic and understanding couple, even going out of their way to help Riven fix his relationship with Musa. He supports Layla in her passion of dancing, and he doesn’t get jealous. Like the man lets his girl go and dance with another guy because he doesn’t dance but he loves seeing Layla dance. He straight up says “Oh, I don’t dance, but Layla would love to.” (again I can’t give you the exact episode but when I rewatch it - since it’s my favorite season - I’ll update this post) I can’t tell you how sad I was when he died. I understood Layla’s pain when he died and the fact that the girls didn’t really sympathize as much as when Tecna “died” to get her enchantix in Ep16 was so annoying. I will even go as far as to say they killed off the most competent man out of the main love interests. He was by far the most impressive between all the men; his magic clearly made him superior but he wasn’t arrogant nor had a leadership complex. Nabu was really out here just trying to support his girl and I was here for it. If there was a boyfriend I would want from Winx, it would be Nabu. His sacrifice is the first hero-death and I’m pretty sure the only hero-death in the show (this may be wrong, I haven’t watched S8). Now, I know there’s a lot of hope for this man in the sense that the direct translation when Morgana says she’ll watch over him until he wakes. I don’t think this will happen and I’ll explain why later on.
ROY: Introduced in S5 as a protector?? of Andros, where he helped the Winx club navigate around the ocean in a yacht. I don’t really have much to say except he was very kind and sympathetic. He was constantly praising Aisha and was capable of supporting the club when necessary. I appreciated him in S6 despite his competition with Nex for allowing Aisha to enjoy herself. Although it was apparent that there was a rivalry between the two, I really liked how he backed down to let Aisha have fun and not be so pissed off of Nex which was common earlier in the season. This was also annoyingly one of those “nice guys finish last” though since he ends up literally vanishing after Nex and Aisha are “confirmed” a couple. This was frustrating because I really liked Roy as a character, he was supportive like Nabu and there was so much development the show could have introduced to him. There was a lack of personality which I think is why they moved away from Roy and more towards Nex. To add, “the nice guys finish last” is such a poor message to send out to kids; having a jerk as your boyfriend who only softens to you, is such a gross depiction of how men should behave and removing Roy solidified the show’s preference to “bad boys” being better boyfriends.
NEX: Introduced in S6 with Thorin. I don’t really know the plot-reason for bringing the “red boys” into the show aside from finalizing Daphne and Aisha’s love interest, which is probably why I disliked the two so much from the start. This guy was just as bad, or worse, than Riven in S1. I absolutely despised how he treated the girls, how competitive he was, and the fact that Aisha called him out on his BS only “turned him on.” This being the only thing going for him, he was obnoxious and wanted to show off around Aisha thinking it would make him look better compared to Roy. The only soft thing I noticed throughout the entire show was in S6Ep24 when Aisha went into the Legendarium and he was “scared.” Like, dude, if that was the only time you were concerned about her safety, your character was very poorly written. I know that maybe in S7 there would be more development in his character, but I honestly don’t recall much about the boys in that season at all. So I’ll stick with his behavior in S6 for this analysis.
FINAL THOUGHTS---
I think removing Nabu was a really dumb choice. I also believe that the show thought that Roy was too similar to Nabu, so they nerfed him and introduced Nex. Nabu was too competent and had too little drama for the show’s liking and therefore removed him. I do think that plot-wise Nabu’s sacrifice was a nice touch, however after realizing that the show just wanted a hard reset on Aisha’s love life, I believe there were better ways to do so. Nabu brought out Layla’s soft side, and lead her to live a happy life with an arranged marriage (which in irl, I know of many couples who live happy lives with their arranged spouse). I personally believe that Nabu and Layla were the best couple because they lived like a regular couple irl, they grew to love each so much more organically than Nex. They considered their future together on Earth and were ready to settle down. But with the other boys, I could not see Aisha ever talking about settling down or considering a future together. I didn’t mind Roy being the next potential boyfriend seeing as he wasn’t forceful with his approach to getting to know Aisha. He was gentle with her, and even though he didn’t know her past with Nabu, he was taking it slow with her and giving her space. They had chemistry and although it didn’t last very long, it disappointed me that the show really made Aisha shallow and only noticed Nex for being better athletic-wise and not personality-wise. That being said, I will never ship Aisha and Nex. Aisha clearly disliked him in S6 and yet she tolerated him as he laughed at Roy (S6Ep15) when he messed up and hardly did anything for her. So not only did they make Nex a jerk, but also Aisha so one-dimensional that she let all of the things that she initially called him out for, to slide. I think, the show did a poor job of showing Aisha mourning for Nabu with the exception of S5′s Ep1, Ep7, and Ep8 which is only 3/26 of the episodes, and some of the girls (*cough* Stella in S5Ep8 *cough*) hardly mourned for him at all. Compatibility-wise, Nabu, for me, is and always will be the best choice. Nex, can like, go do more pushups or something. Plot-wise, there was no plot. Nabu’s death moved the storyline to make Nebula a better queen, but aside from that, this whole romance thing was just to make sure all the girls had a partner that “worked” in the show’s favor. Nex will really need to step up in S7+ if he is to ever be like Nabu in that he was supportive, kind, and let Layla be herself around him; because all I see is that Nex is solely attracted to Aisha’s badass side - the side where she’s sporty and athletic, whereas when she was with Nabu she was able to dance - which was her secret passion - and considered settling. Please treat my girl well in S8 nwn
If you guys have any inputs feel free to have a discussion down below! I do sound a bit biased in this, but I hope my analysis explains why. As always this was just a fun post, so please don’t judge me based on this! Thanks~

Let’s Talk About Cartoons.
Hey people, Korra is back with yet another long post, so be prepared.
Recently, I’ve found myself watching more cartoons again. So I just wanted to talk about some stuff on cartoons. So, the one thing I need you to keep in mind while reading this post is that these shows made be enjoyed by all audiences, the targeted age range is children. Children between the ages of 8-12 most of the time. So yeah, keep that thought.
I love Avatar, Korra (my username sake lol) Voltron, She-Ra and so many others. I would say these shows are some of the ones aimed at a bit of an older audience. But I also enjoy the Owl House, W.I.T.C.H., Ben 10, the Loud House, and others. I would say these shows are roughly aimed at that 8-10 range. What is it about these shows that I love? Hmm, there are many different reasons for as to why. But there are a few things that come to mind. Good representation, dark topics dealt with in a mature way, funny and lovable characters, silly buffer episodes, and endings that fit the show.
Voltron Legendary Defender had its issues, but I’m not focusing on that just yet. What the show did well is having a group of diverse characters. Lance, Hunk, Shiro, Allura are all PoC. Most of the characters in the show are in fact PoC, which is really awesome to see. The show dealt with themes of loneliness, war, colonization, loss, and found family. I think for the most part, everything was well done. Was the queer rep done pretty poorly? Yup, I think it’s fair to say it was. But it doesn’t outweigh the other things the show dealt with in a great way. Keith saying “I love you” to Shiro in a completely platonic way was SO IMPORTANT. Men saying I love you and crying and hugging and being able to be emotional and still considered strong is something that still needs to be normalized. It’s still one of the few shows I’ve seen this happen, and since the show is considered to be aimed at “boys” makes it even more important to me.
I could go on for days about how amazing the queer rep in She-Ra is. Adora and Catra was teased and I was worried for a little there that it was going to happen, but then IT DID. THEY KISSED. But not only that, we saw Scorpia have a crush on Catra, Mermista had a crush on She-Ra, Perfuma showed interest in both Bow and Scorpia. Seahawk is such a bi disaster. Double Trouble was one of the first non-binary characters I’ve seen on not just kid’s tv, but in all of tv. Queerness was the norm for She-Ra, it was more strange that Hordak was straight. Now, She-Ra also dealt with themes of identity, abuse, war, love, loss, and more. She-Ra isn’t perfect, but damn it is one of my favourite shows I’ve watched in a while. It’s really amazing.
There’s a reason why Avatar and Korra have a legacy. ATLA holds up. I just finished my rewatch and it still holds up. Are there some stinkers in s1? Yeah, haha. The Great Divide is a pretty rough episode to get through. But these two shows were things I watched growing up. I was the targeted age when Avatar first aired. The themes of abuse, colonization, genocide of a culture, misogyny, and like a billion other topics are addressed in such a mature way, but in a way that kids can understand without it being spoon-fed to them. Master Pakku is such jerk and it’s clear that people know this. The show doesn’t shy away from the damage caused by the Fire Nation. The Legend of Korra has a bit more of darker tone and mature themes, and I feel like they’re dealt with really well. And let’s not forgot that all characters are PoC and and Korrasami was a canon couple, the first of the time. Also, please remember that Korrasami was a BREAKTHROUGH FOR LGBTQA diversity for kid’s television. Respect, big respect.
Kipo and Owl House are two new shows I just started and I’m really enjoying them a lot. The Owl House s1 was so good and I loved all those goofballs. I think I would die for Eda, and Amity is such a dork. Kipo has been really fun and it’s got a great diverse cast of characters, hope it gets a s3! I’m enjoying the Dragon Prince as well, though I do find myself not enjoying it as much as some others are.
Now, after all that has been said. It’s okay to dislike an aspect of a show, or point out the flaws. But at the end of the day, it is aimed at kids. I’ve had people say to me “it’s aimed at kids but they know the audience are adults” and “kids aren’t watching this stuff, they’ve got other stuff to watch.” Yo, that attitude needs to stop please. Kids are watching this stuff. My younger siblings watched all those shows mentioned above, most of them before I even heard of them. My youngest sister LOVES Kipo, she thinks it’s amazing. All media has flaws. It’s silly to think that it doesn’t. Even ATLA has it’s issues, but they’re not large enough to take away from the show. We as the older audience need to stop gatekeeping and acting as if children aren’t watching, because they are. So remember when pointing out the flaw or tearing into something for whatever reason, maybe take a step back for a minute. Shows aimed at kids, regardless, have more constrictions. There are jerks out there who think kids shouldn’t have LGBTQA characters, people who think shows shouldn’t deal with heavy topics, that silly buffer episodes ruin the show for them.
You love these shows, but remember that kids out there do too. Themes that we are used to seeing are so much more nuanced and mature, because they have to be able to showcase it in a way that a kid may understand it, but not in a horrific Game of Thrones style gorefest. Themes that kids should see. I can’t imagine the emotional impact Catra and Adora finally leaving their abuser had. Or Zuko standing up to his father. Or Luz’s mother not understanding her quirkiness. Or so. much. more.
So yeah, I love cartoons. So do my siblings. Love them for everything they are, and be critical of them for sure, but don’t ruin it for the ones that it’s aimed at. Those kids are going to grow up and be amazing humans, and they’re going to create even more awesome things they wished they had when they were young. Remember that.

So I got bored and decided to type out a list of the cartoons/tv shows I’ve watched, cause why not! I think this is all I’ve watched, or at least recent enough (I’m thinking like…. 2014/15 onward, when I actively started to watch more cartoons)
It’s kinda long, and I’m kinda rambley, so I’ll put it under a keep reading thing (if I can) so you don’t have to scroll through that if you don’t want to. Idk who will actually read this, but hey maybe it’s an idea of what kind of things I might reblog on here! I’m always taking any suggestions for shows to watch, I love learning about and watching more and more cartoons! So if there’s something I didn’t list as something I watched and you think of be interested, feel free to please recommend it! I may update this with a reblog or an edit or something at some point in the future, idk though. For now, its September 19, 2020, and here’s what I got for ya
This ended up way more rambley than I meant for it to be but I started writing it at maybe 12:30ish am and now its almost 2am when I’m getting ready to post it so oops 👀 I’m not really expecting anyone to read this but hey, it’s something! Read if you wanna know what shows and other stuff I watched lol idc
Cartoons I’ve watched in their entirety (or what’s all aired as of today 9/19/20):
(updated 12/2/20 as starting with ATLA)
Gravity Falls - watched since late 2014
Steven Universe (including the movie and Future) - watched since mid June 2015, right before the second stevenbomb/sworn to the sword (early season 2)
Over The Garden Wall - watched back around when it first came out, can’t remember exactly when but sometime in 2015
Star vs The Forces of Evil - watched the first 2 seasons as they aired, then stopped watching for a while and rewatched the whole show in June 2019
Hilda - watched for the first time in I think October 2018, rewatched in May quarantine
She-ra and the Princesses of Power - watched all 5 seasons about/not even a week after season 5 came out, idk why I waited so long to watch it
The Owl House - started watching it after the grom episode aired, idk why I waited so long to watch it but molly and noelle and everyone was screaming about grom on twitter, so of course I had to watch it then
Kipo and The Age of Wonderbeasts - watched it all in early August, right before I watched The Owl House
Infinity Train - watched the pilot back in 2016, then the first season when it came out, but then I started college and didn’t get the chance to watch the 2nd/3rd season until I decided to watch the whole series (s1 again, 2/3 for the first time) this past week
Ouran High School Host Club - ok I know it’s anime not a cartoon and I can’t see myself reblogging anything from it but it’s literally the only anime I’ve watched more than like 1 or 2 episodes of/the only one I’ve seen in its entirety so I figured eh I’ll mention it
Camp Camp - I almost forgot to mention this one! I started watching it when there was I think only 3 episodes of season 1, so back in 2016, and I’ve loved it since then! I guess this summer’s season couldn’t happen cause of covid.... But I’m still excited for when/if it does eventually come out!
Avatar the Last Airbender
Shows that I’ve partially watched but not completely:
We Bare Bears - I’ve seen the first 2 seasons, maybe some of the third I can’t remember, I watched it when it first came out but I haven’t watched it in a while, so I would probably need to rewatch a bunch of it (I did rewatch I think the first season sometime this year? But it was while working on school projects so I wasn’t giving it my full attention), apparently there’s also a movie now???
My Little Pony Friendship is Magic - I was huge into the brony fandom from roughly 2013ish-2017ish, I’ve seen up to season 8 and a few episodes of season 9, and the 4 equestria girls movies, and the mlp movie; I probably know seasons 1 - 4 the most, maybe a little of 5, 6 and 7 are kinda fuzzy but I’ve seen them, 8 I watched over quarantine (since it’d been a few years since I had watched any of it, I also rewatched bits of 5-7) as well as I think the first episode or so of season 9, but I don’t remember them too well. I watched the movie (the pony one, not eqg) when it came out in theaters, and not too long after that I drifted away from the mlp fandom (tbh I was drifting a little bit before it came out, but I knew I had to stick in there at least until it came out since I had been waiting for so long for it). The equestria girls movies, I saw them all when they first came out (I even saw rainbow rocks in the theater). I think there’s like, half hour shorts or episodes or something?? That’s in the eqg universe?? But I don’t think I’ve seen any of them, and if I have it was probably a really early one a long time ago because I haven’t really kept up with anything after Legend of Everfree came out
Animaniacs reboot - I’ve seen the first 5 episodes and it’s nice!
Shows that I’ve only seen an episode or few of that I (probably) intend on continuing to watch:
Glitch Techs - I saw the first episode! Definitely want to continue it
Rick and Morty - I watched a few episodes of the first season in like March/April quarantine, but I was still dealing with online school at home finishing out last semester then. I think I want to watch this eventually, but I have other shows that I want to catch up on/watch before I’d get to this one
Tangled the Series - idk if that’s the name I’ve seen multiple names but I hope you know what I’m talking about, I saw a handful of episodes from the first season I think sometime around fall 2019, but I’d probably have to rewatch the whole thing
Adventure Time - I’ve never had cable/cartoon network so I didn’t watch this growing up, but I’ve heard really good things about it and seen a bunch of stuff from it (I’d have to be living under a rock to have not seen anything lol) but it’s so long and I just haven’t gotten around to it yet! Well I’ve seen maybe a dozen or so episodes of the first season but it was a while ago so I’d have/want to start over probably
Shows I haven’t started
Amphibia - I’ve heard it’s good! I just haven’t gotten around to it yet
Avatar the Last Airbender - probably next on my list to watch, I’ve been meaning to watch it for years but I haven’t yet, its on Netflix now so that should make it easier to watch and a friend from school made me promise that this would be the next one I’d watch so that’s what I’m doing (I did watch the last 2 seasons of infinity train that night though, since I was really wanting to finish it first… But atla is next) watched it! (updated 12/2/20)
The Legend of Korra - obviously I’m waiting to watch it until after alta, and I’m probably going to watch it right after I finish atla
The Dragon Prince - idk really anything about it other than I think it’s on netflix? and apparently it’s good and maybe gay idk but I’ve heard it’s good thus why it’s on here lol
Black Horseman - idk too too much about this other than apparently it’s good but also kinda depressing. Similarly to rick and morty I want to watch it eventually but its not insanely high on my list
OK KO - don’t know a ton about it other than it’s decent, a step up from r+m/bojack on where I want to watch it but not urgently
Ducktales Reboot - similarly to OK KO, don’t know much about it other than it’s decent, same level of want to watch
Milo Murphy’s Law - saw a couple episodes when it came out, haven’t watched it in forever so if I ever do want to rewatch it I’d have to restart it, not super high on my priority list though
Bee and Puppycat - another one I almost forgot! I don’t know a ton about this but I’ve heard its nice! Plus from what I’ve seen I like the artstyle so  👀 maybe someday
Animaniacs (original) - I started to watch the reboot and I think I want to watch the original eventually! Just haven’t gotten around to it yet
Clone High - listen it’s not that I desperately WANT to watch this, I just have friends who are like, hey, watch this lol it’s apparently not super long so why not
Other non cartoon shows I’ve watched:
Brooklyn 99 - idk when I started watching it, maybe around season 4/5ish? I think sometime in 2018 so idk the season, idk, most of the episodes I’ve only seen once so I couldn’t tell you exactly what happens in every episode but I still like it
Rise - ugh I miss this show, I started watching it after/around when the 3rd episode came out (end of March 2018?), and I don’t think I’ve watched any of it since it ended (mid may 2018) cause its not on any streaming services anymore :/ at least not that I know of but I loved it and would love to rewatch it
Andi Mack - I’d heard it was good but hadn’t watched it after it ended (early august 2019 I think I watched it), haven’t rewatched it since then but it was decent, I mainly watched it cause I had seen clips of gay but yknow it was alright
Sex Education - watched 1st season sometime in 2019, when rewatched it/watched season 2 when it came out January 2020, this is like WAY more mature than like anything on this list but like it has an interesting story
Love Victor - watched first/currently only season when it came out mid june 2017 (how was June so long ago what)
Queer Eye - I’ve seen a couple seasons of it idk I figured why not add it lol
Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist - I think I watched this around when there were maybe a few episodes of season 1 left (well there’s only one season now but still), idk I liked it cause like musicals and stuff idk
Idk what else to add to this section but if I think of anything (to any category on this list) I’ll probably update it later maybe idk (again I’m not necessarily going to be reblogging stuff from all/any of these but like, I figured I’d mention it cause idk)
Musicals:
Another thing I love is musicals, like I’m a design/tech major in college rn so yeah I like theatre lol so I’m going to list some I’ve seen (mostly watched bootlegs of, but I’ll list some professional/tour ones I’ve seen in person)(but if it doesn’t say anything special I probably just watched a bootleg, 2017 was a big year for me and my google drive being filled with bootlegs…) This might not be all of them and I won’t go into as much detail (I hope, I haven’t typed it yet) but we’ll see:
Broadway tours I’ve seen: (I swear this isn’t bragging they were cheap seats way up high lol)
Dear Evan Hansen (May 2019)
Wicked (first professional show I saw, October 2017, haven’t watched a bootleg or anything of it since then and I went in completely blind)
Mean Girls (November 2019, last professional show I saw before quarantine)
Come From Away (September 2019)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (November 2018)
The Book of Mormon (August 2018, was hoping to again this August but quarantine :( )
Non professional/high school/college/other shows I’ve seen in person/been on crew for (not all of them, but some) (assume I’ve also seen bootlegs/proshots if there are any)
Newsies
Spring Awakening (spot op)
Shrek (props)
Legally Blonde
I’ve seen done way more but I don’t feel like listing them or that they’re anything I’d want go reblog/actively look at fandom content for (that’s not saying it reblog stuff from shrek the musical but still lol)
Other shows I’ve seen only in proshot/bootleg form:
Basically every Starkid show
Spies are Forever
The Solve it Squad
Hamilton
Heathers
Be More Chill (yes I was in that big amalgamation of musical fandom stuff with these and deh in 2017 aaaa)
Falsettos
Beetlejuice
Spongebob
21 Chump Street
Les Mis
Phantom
(Again maybe not necessarily all but some there’s a slight chance I might reblog things about)
Musicals I still need/want to watch/listen to:
The Prom
Six
The Great Comet (not typing it all out)
Hadestown
Waitress
Bonnie and Clyde
Something Rotten
Tuck Everlasting
Again there’s more I want to see I’m sure but I haven’t really watched bootlegs in a while…. Idk feel free to suggest shows tho
Movies I’ve seen/like: obviously I’m not gonna just every single movie I’ve seen but heres a few I like:
The Sound of Music
The Wizard of Oz - these 2 have actually always been my favorite movies since I was little, I can’t dee myself reblogging much of anything about them but figured I’d mention them cause why not
Love Simon
Some but not all Disney movies (I grew up with no cable/mostly just pbs)
Most pixar movies?
I don’t think John Mulaney shows count as movies but eh whatever I’ve seen them on netflix
Idk what else lol I know I’ve seen more movies than this but eh
If anyone actually read all of this... Wow I’m surprised honestly lol have a free cookie or something for your struggles or smth, idk, thanks for reading this though lol I appreciate you (but also slightly worry, this was a lot of words and a lot of rambling)

Taki Taki!! It's missing you o'clock!! So, tell me, what shows are you watching rn at this hopeless (and Arrowverseless) hours??
Aaaaw, Luuu! *hugs*
I have completely reverted into rewatching shit I trust these days, actually. xD
I don’t know, too many shows have been... disappointments lately - and by lately I mean “when Game of Thrones ended in that shitshow and The Magicians fucked me up real bad, both in like the same fucking month”, it’s honestly been a downhill battle since with ongoing and new shows that disappointed or fucked with me. So after uuuh a few more recent ones, I decided I needed a break from new things that can hurt/disappoint me. :D
I’m rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer for at least the 15th time, because it’s just my ultimate TV show comfort food. Rewatching it again for the first time since I started being obsessed with Shadowhunters and I gotta admit, I have a type (...in more ways than one. Show wise, because supernatural demon hunter is just the ultimate genre. But also “actor I will obsess with” wise because Dominic Sherwood and James Marsters... I... I’m weak. And favorite female character wise - look at that cute, sweet, dorky total badass blonde who kicks butt! *side-eyes Kara Danvers*)
Aaand since I got my amazing best friend @kimmycup and my wonderful lovely girlfriend @kunfyouzed to watch Once Upon a Time, I got really eager to rewatch it too and holy shit I forgot just HOW good it is. Like, I knew it was good, because it’s not one of my three favorite shows just because “people pretty, fairy tales real :D”, but I forgot just how good it is?
I have also convinced my parents to give BBC’s Merlin a chance. Because I felt like another rewatch and after all three of us came out of The Witcher utterly bewildered and overly disappointed, I figured the next show we could watch together should be a fun fantasy show! Granted, this one is a very slow going rewatch because yeah, watching with parents is an irregular and a one or two episodes at a time kinda deal. But it’s fun! (Mom likes ‘the pretty boy’, aka Lancelot, and keeps going “Where do I know x from?”, to which I get to play the “Uther is Giles from Buffy, Morgana is Lena from Supergirl, yes that girl from episode one you know her from Torchwood remember that, that was the show where Spike wanted to fuck a poodle, Gwaine’s from Nightshift, Percy is from Umbrella Academy - he was the one with the gorilla body.” :D)
Even anime wise, after the last new anime I had given a chance was just a completely mortifying and disturbing disaster that made me feel uncomfortable in my own skin, I’ve decided to rewatch Cardcaptor Sakura. Though I have now reached the new territory on that show, because I’ve never actually gotten around to watching the Clear Card arc since it was released in 2018, I always pushed it off with “with the next rewatch” so here we are. I hope it’s not going to hurt me. :D”
The only type of media I consume that I still allow new stuff is cartoons, honestly. I’ve recently watched Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts - which, if you haven’t seen, I’d definitely recommend based on knowing you like both Kara and Adora, because Kipo is that same brand of protagonist and it is honestly really sweet!
And The Last Kids on Earth, which... zombies... but aside from the zombies it’s a cute found family cartoon set during the apocalypse.
And Owl House!! You should give that a try too, because also total sweetheart protagonist. A girl who learns magic after accidentally walking into a magic realm through a portal. Also very found family-ish.
The latest was Glitch Tech in the past two days, which was really cute? Bit weird - because it’s like... glitches in video games that manifest in the real world and these teens have to take care of them - but weird in a fun way and I love the characters.
So, I highly recommend all the things I just said. The cartoons are all only 1/2 seasons in, so consider checking those out for a short-term commitment and aside from that, I genuinely advise “go rewatch something you love”, not just because most current shows are disappointments but also because there is just... such a sense of comfort in revisiting characters you cherish, rediscovering ships you love and knowing what’s going to happen, if only to the extend that you remember it pleased you, because that’s comfort-knowledge, really.
(But you mentioning Arrowverseless makes me remember that I do have plans of making a Leonard Snart Appreciation Day, where I will binge a playlist of all The Flash episodes with Lenny, because I miss him. ;^;)

Kipo Rewatch Ep1
so im in a not so good spot right now and i wanna rewatch something that made me happy. so heres a rewatch and thoughts about it, seeing what, if anything, i notice this time around.
spoilers abound!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
dont know why but on this second viewing i really like the transition from the first picture to the second one. it conveys so much with no words simply shwing the length between shots with out a caption and leaves so much to the imagination.
Tumblr media
R.I.P. we hardly knew you
Tumblr media
okay so yu see this picrute up there? now i see this and her skin doesnt not look like a kinda of skin tone color. like not a common one, but not so out of left feild. like obviously we know now that shes part mute, but i dont think its 100% out of the question for no one to actually question her skin color.
Tumblr media
so when i saw this i thought kipo was going to have kinda hazy vision. I dont think she does...but that could have been interesting. kipo with sunglasses would have been cool. i do wonder if this is realted to her being part mute
Tumblr media
she sings this but then...
Tumblr media
she says that lol. in the 1st ep kipo does freak out about things but i never took it as her thinking its dangerous. or that she was really worried it. like she wants to touch and pet so many things!
Tumblr media
look at where she followed mandu into? if you were really worried about dangerous animals would you follow a cute pig into a building like this? i doubt it, but i love kipo so much.
Tumblr media
so this is realted to my first point but the term “old world” is kinda like...a time stamp. like later on in the ep wolf says this:
Tumblr media
when kipo reads the year 2020, but has it actually been 200 years? i would think that 200 years is enough time to call something “from the old world” but also it doesnt in a way? 200 years is just 200 years. though kipo could just not really know the year date. or the way which they mark years is different. like how my country uses a calnder that tells us its 2020 but other countries and cultures have calenders that states a different year.
maybe burrow culture keeps track of years differently. that could be interesting to think about.
Tumblr media
kipo...if your dad actually makes food that looks blue, hairy, and has multiple eyes maybe you shouldnt be eating it...
Tumblr media
knowing what i know about wolf this line hits different. like...is this because of her time with the wolf pack that tried to hunt her? she doesnt want to eat things that have a certain level of conciousness since shes been in that situation and doesnt want to put another being through that? like in this first ep wolf is badass and comedic but....looking back this is so tragic. what happened to her family?
Tumblr media
because wolf, you are compassionate and lonely and you want human connection. kipo may be the first person shes seen in a long time (seriously what happened to her parents?). wolf acts like is truly doesnt need anybody but she still is a little girl.
Tumblr media
not a great screen shot but i do love this intro to jamack. hes serious, threatening, but also really funny. i love one frog man.
Tumblr media
very last thought i had during this particular rewatch was the fact that this happens right after kipo calls herself and wolf “sisters”. going back to what we learn about wolf and her trauma i love this moment now. before it was just kinda funny. but now its just another wall she has up right now.
honestly kipo and wolf’s relationship is really great and a strong core to the show. but showing it starting off like this is great. i love these two.

Hello Denizens of the Tumbleverse!
I’m Chemical Liveblogging (I didn’t have any other ideas for names). Due to boredom I’m going to try liveblogging.
I think I’m going to try starting with the end of Steven Universe. I have seen everything up to “Legs from Here to Homeworld” so I’ll be starting with “Familiar” whenever I figure out where I put the video files. Now I am spoiled on some points but I figure I need to start somewhere (mostly I want to get through these so I can play Unleash the Light on Steam).
If the liveblogging works out for SU then I’ll figure out what to liveblog next. If you have something you’d like to see then let me know. I have seen and am caught up on Gravity Falls, most of MLP, Amphibia, Owl House, She-Ra, Infinity Train, Ducktales, Glitch Techs, Voltron (except S8), SVTFOE (except S3) and the 1st season of Kipo. Though I guess I can rewatch things if you really want, it has been a while for most of those (I tend to spend more time with fan material than source material).
Shows I have heard of that seem interesting include: Hilda, Dragon Prince, Tangled the Series, and RWBY.
Before anyone asks don’t read too much into my header image or avatar those are just placeholders to make the blog more colourful, I went to school for chemistry so those are Cadmium-Selenide Quantum Dots I made in one of my labs.

Yay! I decided I had watched enough to warrant a mid-month post! Or I just made myself watch some titles I hadn’t before. It’s really hard when there’s a million things to watch and you… start Teen Wolf again. No, this is not about me. That person rewatching Teen Wolf is definitely my cousin, BD. I, on the other hand, am starting some titles and forgetting about it (Kipo and the Wonderbeasts, Tales of Earthsea, there’s too many others to count).
Someone force me to go through my Continue Watching please 😭 Let’s get on with this!

The Matrix Reloaded
The Matrix Revolutions
Spider-Man
The Covenant
The Ring
Annabelle Comes Home
The Matrix Reloaded 5 💊👨‍💻
I thought that I wrote tons of things about this movie in my notes (even though I’ve watched the movie a dozen of times – that amount is actually way way more but uhhh Maths); but I only wrote: ‘we love it’.
So, thanks for that, past DB. Anyway, good thing I’ve watched this movie enough times to write a review haha.
I love seeing Zion every time. It’s vibrant, the people are vibrant. The speech Morpheus gives is *chef’s kiss. I love the dialogue in this trilogy, just beautiful. Like it may SEEM normal (dialogue at first) but No!!! It’s complicated!!
The Matrix Revolutions 5 💊👨‍💻
A perfect way of ending the trilogy. It’s excellent and just ties everything up so well?
Hugo Weaving is just everything in this. He’s so good at playing a villain. I just love how he speaks – because it’s basically just whispering but it demands your attention at the same time??
Also, I know that there’s a Matrix 4 happening!!! There’s not a lot of news about it, but I am very excited for whatever happens.
Spider-Man 5 🕷️
Listen, I grew up with these movies, so why shouldn’t I rate it 5 stars?
Also, like, this movie IS good!Look past all the critics who deem it really bad for whatever reason they have.
I need to watch the other two movies and then MAYBE I should finally get to watching Endgame…
The Covenant 5 👪
I’m not saying I’m great or anything but I was watching this and then I saw my sister watching it later so haha.
Caleb is Warren Peace (from Sky High). He’s so different here and also with short hair! Which is weird to see since I can only see him with long hair. And the love interest is Olivia Lennox (She’s the Man). And baby face Nate (Gossip Girl) and Sebastian Stan no wonder I love this movie so much.
It is a really good movie, though. Full of intrigue, supernatural elements and a good story.
The Ring 4 📺
Also need to watch the originals. Will prob do that soon. If you’ve watched both the originals and the remakes, which ones are scarier in your opinion?
This movie freaked me out as a kid enough that for like TWO WEEKS I would imagine the girl climbing through our tv. Did that stop me from watching tv? Nope.
Annabelle Comes Home 4 🏠
I’ve watched this before but my sister hasn’t (as we’re doing the conjuring universe watch), so it was time to watch it.
Also the one girl has the same name as me – Daniela – which isn’t a secret as I say my name on my about lol, I just prefer to use DB/everyone (including my parents) call me DB). Anyway, they kept putting emphasis on the DAN whereas we put emphasis on the D – but whatever, at least I’m ‘in’ the movie and they didn’t choose a Daniella. But then again my mom’s watching CSI: Las Vegas and the one character’s also DB so every now and then I look up because I think she’s calling me 😄
The Daniela in the movie kept making dumb decisions. I mean, honestly kid, you’re letting down the Daniela name for us all.
All in all, yes scary. Loved that it had McKenna Grace as I always like seeing her. But not as great as the second Annabelle, though. Still good. And a creepy room with like tons of haunted artifacts, no thank you.

Charlie’s Angels
Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle
What Dreams May Come
Charlie’s Angels (2000) 5 🕵️‍♀️
I really need to watch the new one. You can moan about Kristen Stewart all you want, I won’t listen.
It’s still good – like there’s probably some parts that aren’t great, and the Thin Man is still as creepy as I first saw him as a kid.
Also, Lucy Liu was paid only $1 million while Drew Barrymore ($9 million, though she was the producer and most likely received that money too. Cameron Diaz was paid $12 million!!
Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle 4 🕵️‍♀️
I mean did we really need a sequel? Not really. But we got one, so oh well. I mean, the plot’s all over the place, but still fun!
What Dreams May Come True 5 💤
You can’t go wrong with  Robin Williams tbh. And this is a movie I didn’t even know he was in.
It’s so beautiful?? Like the music and the the scenery and the story, if you don’t mind a really dark storyline and events.
This is the soul mate au I search for hours on ao3 for.
The Rest

Bloodshot
Sinister Circle
Friday the 13th
Feminists: Where Thinking?
Bloodshot 3 🩸
My mom after I sort of explained the plot to her: “Oh like Robocop?” Which I haven’t watched yet, so I don’t know how that is.
I half watched most of it because I was battling with a post and the new block editor – I really wanna try to get to know it. And I had to go through html and everything – I’m really glad that I know basic html lemme tell you – it is VITAL that you learn at least some while you run a blog.
Anyway, I just saw Vin Diesel and he becomes a superhero or something? or at least a super-powered person. I mean, I could’ve paid more attention to the plot, but there wasn’t a lot to interest me. So this falls into more the under-3-but-not-a-2 stars.
He punches a wall/pillar, I can’t remember… like I know it’s probably to ‘show’ his strength or whatever, but really?
Sinister Circle 3
It was OK. Like I liked it, the mom and the kid and a bit of the plot but,,, yeah that’s it.
It had some good jump scares, though.
Friday the 13th remake 2 🏕️
Maybe I should’ve started with the original, because this was… not at all good. But it had Jared Padalecki in it! And that’s basically why this is 2 stars and not 1.
A ton of scenes are shot in the dark and I know that’s half for danger and half because it’s set at night, but like?? How am I meant to see anything?
Feminists: What Where They Thinking? 3
It was good. It wasn’t so largely focused on intersectional feminism, more so the start of feminism, which is still good and all, but I would’ve liked some more diversity.
Series
The Unlisted
The Unlisted 4 🏫
It wasn’t the absolute best series I’ve ever watched, but it wasn’t half bad either!
Yes, the kids aren’t the greatest actors but they’re good. It gets a bit better story wise and sort of character wise too. But then again it’s OK to watch subpar TV!
Also I thought their accents sounded South African until I realized like no, lol, that’s just Australian. Usually I’m good with picking up on the differences.
So their eyes glow like electric blue and the one character doesn’t and like no one sees it? Just because he wears glasses doesn’t mean you can’t see it!
Also the gran just feeds everyone and we stan. I saw tons of samosas and now I want some 😭😭
Yes, yes, I know I ramble a whole bunch a lot. Maybe I wouldn’t have to talk to myself a ton if I had some comments. So, tell me what you’ve been watching lately!
What I Watched This Month (Mid-Month) August Yay! I decided I had watched enough to warrant a mid-month post! Or I just made myself watch some titles I hadn't before.
