(Do you think you will write longer fics for Lucifer? You know besides the sentence starters)
"Is this really necessary?"
The Devil Wears Louboutin
(Lucifer x Reader)
Summary: Lucifer isn’t necessarily the materialistic type... except for when it came to his dress shoes. Those were more valuable than life on earth, your life specifically.
Word Count: 1,664
A/N: YUP. I actually have one in the works at the moment, but since you asked I just made this a longer fic. Hope that’s cool! (also may have gotten a bit carried away but when does that not happen)
Tumblr media
“Is this really necessary?” you asked, trying to sound as confused as possible. You had thrown away a pair of Lucifer’s dress shoes as a way of getting back at him for embarrassing you in front of your friends. It wasn’t unlike him, but it was when you’d felt that you were finally fitting in with people your age, but of course, Lucifer had to screw it up. What you didn’t expect, though, was for him to call Chloe and the team to investigate.
“But of course. They’re Louboutin, y/n. Get with the program, would you?” You scoffed at his question, although internally snickering a bit to yourself about the mischief you’d caused for him. You hated to say it, but you were actually starting to understand the fun in being mischievous like your brother, despite constantly having to balance him out with how utterly, well, angelic you were.
“She’s right Lucifer. I mean, is it really that serious?” Chloe asked him sincerely, secretly hoping that he would lay off so she wouldn’t have to spend her day tracking down a pair of shoes, designer or not.
“Um yes? Don’t tell me your on her side, detective...,” he said as his eyes caught hers, as if they were visibly piercing through them. She kept eye contact with him, but soon broke it to look back at you.
“You know what? I should probably go check in with Ella and Dan to uh- you know... see if they found anything!” Chloe said awkwardly, dragging herself out of Lux to avoid any further confrontation from the two of you. Just as she was about to step out though, Ella and Dan both walked in from their search.
“Did you find ‘em?” Chloe asked.
“Well,” Ella started, “after about thirty minutes of grueling investigation, we found them!” You gulped, not thinking they would find them so soon, let alone at all.
“Great! I knew I could count on you Miss Lopez. I’m sure Detective Douche was of no help...,” Lucifer wisecracked, earning a glare from Dan, “...anywho, did you find the measly little germ that stole them?” He spoke as he rubbed his two hands together, most likely fantasizing about sending the culprit to hell. Little did he know, obviously, that you were the “measly little germ” he was talking about.
“As much as I’d love to drag him over here so you can have your fun with him,” Here it comes... “there were actually in the dumpster right outside of Lux!” Ella said. Lucifer was a bit confused to say the least.
“Really?” Chloe said, also confused, but relieved that she wouldn’t have to spend another minute on this particular ‘case.’
“Really?” Lucifer spoke in a surprised tone. “Why would someone just throw them away and scram, that makes absolutely no sense I mea-” Lucifer stopped in his tracks. You started rocking back and forth on your feet, looking undoubtedly guilty. You could practically see the lightbulb go on above Lucifer’s head as he spun around to look straight at you. Chloe, Ella, and Dan all looked at each other in confusion.
“What? Why’re you looking at me like that?” You tried to sound as genuine as possible, but Lucifer being your big brother and all, could see right through you.
“You’ll see,” he said with a wide grin, spin back to face his three colleagues. He knew it was you, and you were screwed. “Thanks guys, I’ll take it from here,” he said with a wink to Chloe, sending them off.
“Uhm okay, well, call me if you need anything else?” Chloe said, taken aback by Lucifer’s sudden change in mood. To be frank, so were you.
“Will do!” he said, literally pushing the three out of the door, leaving you and him alone. While still facing the exit, Lucifer turned around to face you with a sinister smile.
“Tsk tsk tsk... you thought you could fool me, didn’t you?” he said as he menacingly walked towards you.
“What’re you taking about?” you said, trying to keep up your clueless charade for as long as possible as you stepped back a bit.
“I think you know exactly what I’m talking about. We’re both very well aware that you’re the one who did it, so just admit that it’s you now and I won’t tickle you too bad,” he said perkily. You had a slight feeling that that was coming. The last time you had gotten on Lucifer’s nerves, he tickled the daylights out of you. You would think it isn’t that bad of a penalty, considering he could never hurt you, but no, it was torture; it was just your luck that Lucifer was terribly good at it too, knowing all of your spots and whatnot.
“I didn’t. Do it.” you said angrily. It was an idiotic decision to continue to deny his claims, but like you said, it sometimes found itself to be fun, being mischievous like him.
“Wow- so witty, I like it!” he said proudly. “Now come here,” changing from a light tone to a serious one.
“I think I’m fine over here, thanks though!” Just as he was about to pounce, Maze walked in. Saved by the bell... sort of.
“Mazikeen! Good to see you! Say, you love torturing people, don’t you?”
“Maybe...? What’s it to you?”
“Well our dear y/n did something very very bad to your old pal, and I happen to be getting my vengeance by torturing her with tickles! Care to help a devil out?” Lucifer was fully capable in dealing with you himself, but he wanted to make the experience as unbearable as possible. What better way to do that than a little assistance from Maze?
“Maze. Don’t!” you pleaded with your hands up in defense.
You could see her hesitating a bit, since you two had a relatively close relationship because of Lucifer and all, but she honest to your father, couldn’t resist, and Lucifer knew that.
“I’m sorry y/n but I gotta!” For a split second she had a quite distressed look, but that quickly switched to her hungry-eyed demon face, running over to you to aid Lucifer in his revenge. She grabbed you in a bear hug so that your back was facing her and your arms were pinned to your sides, bringing you down to the floor with her.
“Maze you have to believe me when I say I didn’t do anything!” you yelled with a quick glare to Lucifer, noticing a cheeky grin plastered on his face.
“She’s lying, Maze. And we all know better than anyone that I never lie.” You groaned at that fact. There was no way Maze was going to believe you, despite the fact that if she didn’t believe Lucifer, he could, at any point and time, simply send her back to hell; she would rather die than take that chance.
“You’re all mine you little heathen...” he said with a boop to your nose. You stuck your tongue out at that, earning a chuckle from the man. You were utterly helpless, and he found it adorable. It wasn’t often that Lucifer got the chance to mess around with you as most big brothers do; whenever he got the chance, though, he soaked it in like a sponge. He was never blind to the fact that you were the responsible one the relationship, resulting in having to force you to be a child at times; and times like these where he would tickle the snot out of you, were his way of doing so.
“Getting feisty now, are we? You know, you still haven’t admitted to what you did earlier... d’you care to?” he said, his hands itching to tickle you to pieces. You didn’t reply, instead shrugging in response to his question. There was practically no point in arguing with him any longer, since your fate had already been decided since the minute he had realized that you were the culprit. “Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you!” he beamed, promptly attacking your torso, wiggling his fingers wherever he could reach. You could barely move, given that Maze had an iron grip on you.
“LUHUHUCE STOHOHOHOP!” you said as you struggled in Maze’s arms.
“Just so you know... if you’re trying to get out, it’s not gonna happen,” Maze said into your ear, sending a quick chill down your spine.
“UGHHHH. GUHUHUYS IHIHIM GOING TO PEEHEHEHEHE!” you said in an effort to hopefully be freed, but once again, Lucifer saw right through your act as if you were a pane of glass.
“You are just a lying little heretic today, aren’t you sister?” he said through playfully gritted teeth, switching his attack to your ribs, which raised your laughter about five octaves.
“AHAHAHAHA!” you screamed with your eyes closed shut, tears of mirth filling the corners. After what felt like eons - but was really only a few minutes - Lucifer noticed the hiccups in the midst of your laughter, and thought it was best to stop.
“Alright, you sensitive little imp,” he said as he stopped, earning a few exaggerated wheezes from you. You had always been quite dramatic growing up; it was part of the charm of being the youngest sibling. “Breathe, y/n,” he said as he pulled your chin up to look at him. “It could’ve been worse, you know...” he lightly threatened with wide eyes. You gave him a mocking expression, but somehow found it helpful to be reminded to breathe again. Maze, on the other hand, released her grip on you, patting your back a couple times as a form of reassurance and getting up to have a drink from the bar, Lucifer following straight after.
“You good over there, hellion?” He cheesed at the sight of your sprawled form on the ground as he poured a glass of whiskey for himself. You replied simply by sticking your arm up, giving him the bird.
Oh, how his ironically devilish nicknames for you had a special place in your heart; you’d consistently acted as if you hated them with every bone in your body, but quite honestly, you wouldn’t change any of it for the world, and neither would he.

Headcanon : Being Dan Espinoza’s partner
Tumblr media
Author note : I hope I pay tribute to Detective Espinoza I personally quite like him. Thank you to @kilyra for helping me with this ♡
i do not own the gif credit to the owner
Warning : slight spoiler from the beginning of season 4 I guess ??
Tumblr media
After losing Charlotte Dan overworked himself
He needs to focus on everything so he won’t lose his minds
Plus it gaves him so space from Lucifer
His colleagues thought it could appreciate to work with someone
Chloe and Ella does
That’s how your relationship began
You were a new policer officer, You just graduated school and you couldn’t wait to exercise what you learn
Everyone thought it could be good to work as a partner with Dan since how good Chloe’s partnership was
Dan wasn’t happy
At all
The last things he needs was some « baby » walking around while he was working
But you know better than flinch in front of him
« You right I should work with someone quite competent such as Lucifer… »
« You know what ? I am gonna show you how better I am »
That really how your relationship began
First all you do was watch : as he loves to say you were a still new to do the police jobs you need to learn how to do your job properly
He may becomes an « idol » for you : you were genuinely impressed
+100 egoboost for Dan
He may embellishs his career
« I know something was wrong with the Lieutenant »
After some times he let you work with him and share your opinion
You two get along well
People tends to think you were a best duo quite effective actually
Which was true
Both of you start to get very efficient
One day you were working on the same case as Chloe and Lucifer
Lucifer being the devil he was tried to tease you about your relationship with detective douch as he calls him
« Don’t you think he is quite boring I’m better than that «  « Sir with all due respect I think you know shit about him and you should start respect him better »
Dan heard about this « incident » as Lucifer calls it
You definitely became his favorite human after trixie
Your relationship wasn’t the same after that
He starts sharing his glorious Pudding with you
He confess to you
Talk about how much he missed Charlotte
How lucky he will be, How he doesn’t trust Lucifer anymore, How he wishes Chloe does the same
You did too. You start talking about your past and why you wanted to become a cop.
Despite all people gossip you weren’t together as a couple, you were more than that : you were partners.
Dan discovers how much you take your relationship seriously : Another day Chloe and Lucifer catch a man who would be a part of terrorism group. They keep him for like two days, and when he was about to get released because of lack of proof.
Five peoples go into the precinct while throwing smoke bomb all around the place, they start to shoot everywhere a lot of people got hurt. Unfortunately Dan was taken as an hostage for their escape.
Despite Dan’s order you decided to follow them as discreetly as possible, When those thugs thought they were alone they put Dan on his knee to kill him. You on the other hand have already knock out two of this guys and were about to kick the hangman. But you took a bullet on your back and you fell on the ground.
Dan thought you passed out, wiith an excess of anger he fought the mans and then called an ambulance
« Why did you do that ? I told you to stay at the precinct for fuck sake ! » « I am your partner remember ? Besides you know I don’t behave »
No one has never took a bullet for him before, No one has never that faithful with him
He stayed at your side for all long as you need to rest
When you go back at work you find another Dan, more open like he used to be, more friendly.
That the impact you have to him. Nearly losing you make him realize he has a lot of things
He was lucky : He got friends, Got an amazing daughter, He got you as a wonderful sidekick
Your friendship help him to go through the pain
And help him
He even starts to talk with Lucifer again realizing all of this couldn’t be his own fault
As a gift Dan goes back to his last desk and place yours close to him, So you could talk and work properly
He became protective around you, always make sure you were okay
If you date someone he will check their life before letting you go to the date
He became like a cop!Big Brother to you
Which was fine since you did the same to him
He makes you promise to never date or sleep with Lucifer
Just in case
He couldn’t take the risk to loose you too
At the end you became family to him
So did he
Even if a lot of people ship you (including Ella) both of you were more than happy with your relationship

Something Sweet (Lucifer Morningstar x Reader)
Tumblr media
Requested: Reader and Lucifer are in a relationship and he loves her but nobody knows because Lucifer is Lucifer and you’re part of the police.
Summary: Everyone knows that Lucifer can be flirtatious so no one thinks twice about his comments towards you because, well, it’s just Lucifer being Lucifer. But, when a case takes all your attention away from him, people start to question why he’s so desperate to get it back.
Word Count: 2887
---
"Well, aren't you a lovely little surprise this morning." A smile broke out on Lucifer's face the moment he saw you and he was quick to forget whatever Chloe was telling him in favor of walking towards you. It had only been a day since you last saw the man, his arms wrapped around you as he tried to convince you that the serial killer would turn himself in, but still, he acted like it had been ages. When you had finally escaped from his tight grip, you had pouted and told him you wouldn't be able to sleep over for a while; your current case the only thing keeping you up in the coming nights. Needless to say, it was a happy surprise that he got to see you at the station. "I believe there's a filing room with our name on it. If you'd hurry along that way." He gestured like he was directing traffic and you couldn't help but laugh despite the heat in your cheeks from the public display. He never was one to whisper and, if he did, then it was only for something deliciously sinful.
"Lucifer, leave them alone." Chloe sighed, slapping his shoulder as she joined your little bubble. "I'm sorry, Y/N, I'll try to keep a tighter leash on him." You held in the temptation to laugh even more when she interrupted, Lucifer's face beyond offended. You weren't sure why but no one at the precinct seemed to believe that the two of you were an item. Sure, you weren't the biggest fan of public displays of affection but that didn't mean Lucifer wasn't. Whether it be flirting with you from across the room or tugging you into his side whenever he was close, he always made sure you knew you were his. There was even that one incident where he slapped your ass while he walked by and, while it wasn't unwelcomed, it was a little too much for the environment. Yet, with all of that in your coworkers' faces, they wrapped it up to Lucifer being Lucifer. In Chloe and Dan's case, they did everything in their power to try and stop Lucifer which was what you always found hilarious.
Lucifer lifted a finger, ready to gesture to you and say something far from appropriate for the workplace. You jumped in before he could, your cheeks not able to get any hotter at this point, "No need, Chloe. He's no harm." His gaze shifted to you, his eyebrow raised in a silent promise of what harm he could be. You held in a sigh, wishing you could take him up on that filing room offer.
"How's the case going?" Lucifer rolled his eyes and started pacing behind the two of you as you talked shop. You smiled softly at his childish antics. You knew that it just came from a place of wanting to keep you to himself but, unfortunately, the world wasn't so kind to let that happen.
"It's a tough nut to crack but I got a new lead. I'm hopeful."
"Yes, well, with a partner like Detective Douche, you'll need all the hope you can get." You and the detective turned together, giving Lucifer the same look of exasperation. "What did I say?" He asked, far too innocently for it to be genuine. The day you got partnered with Dan was, according to Lucifer, the worst day of his life. Despite the dramatics, he did tend to get jealous whenever you spent too much time with the other man. Not because he didn't trust you but just because he didn't like to share.
Chloe sighed and turned back to you, "If you need any help, let me know okay?"
You nodded, a smile on your face as you did. You and Chloe had always been close, though it might shock people. The chemistry between her and Lucifer was enough to make any one night stand doubt themselves but to be in a relationship with the man was a whole other obstacle. Admittedly, in the beginning, you were a bit hesitant because of her but Lucifer had let you known his true feelings and that they were only for you. It was hard to doubt much after that. Chloe was first in both of your lives; in yours as a best friend and in his as a partner. It only seemed fair that as a couple you would share her. "I will. You do the same." She smiled and walked away, heading towards Ella and expecting Lucifer to be right behind her. Instead, he was in front of you, looking like an abandoned puppy.
"What's that face for?" You said, quietly. It wasn't often that he showed when he was upset, often opting for the silent but deadly approach to his feelings, but this was something softer. Something you only ever saw when he just wakes up and wraps his arms around you.
"There's no face." He muttered, offended that you even suggested such a thing even though there most definitely was a face. "I just didn't expect you to be one so obsessed with their work."
Dating Lucifer meant a lot of things but, the most important thing was that you had to learn how to read between the lines. You looked around, making sure no one was looking, and when the coast was clear you stood a little taller and kissed him sweetly. "I'll miss you too, Luci."
He deflated from his puffed up state, smiling down at you with lovesick eyes and you couldn't believe that you got to see this side of him. "See you soon?"
"Of course." With a final peck, you headed to question a witness, hoping that the case could catch a break and you'd find yourself back in Lucifer's arms in no time. He watched the door shut behind you, an idea on how he could make that happen starting in his head.
----
When you walked onto the crime scene, the first thing you were expecting to see was the same MO from the past three; bullet to the head, limbs cut off post mortem, scary clean area. What you weren't expecting was Lucifer sitting at a piano playing your favorite song. "Lovely, you're finally here!" He picked up the pace to his song and you were quick to get to him and put a stop to it.
"What are you doing here?" You whispered, somewhat harshly. You were always a perfectionist and your boyfriend messing with evidence to serenade you was really messing that up.
"Lucifer thought it would be a good idea if we helped out." Chloe batted at Lucifer's hands, forcing him to stop playing, and all you could do was stare at him. You understood what he was doing, of course, you did, but it still made your blood slightly boil. This wasn't your first case, hell, this wasn't even your first serial killer, you didn't need any help besides your partner's.
He stared up at you, beyond excited at the thought of working together, and you felt yourself calm down almost instantly. Because, yes, while it was slightly annoying, it came from a good place. That was how most things went with Lucifer when he wanted things done, anyway. "No need for long hours when you have four extra hands to help." He stood up from the piano bench and slithered behind you, his large hands grabbing onto your shoulders in an attempt to give you a massage. "Besides, you're far too stressed. How are you supposed to catch a killer with your back all in knots?" He said it almost frantically, his thumbs becoming aggressive as he worked at one of your 'knots'. And, while you appreciated it after a long day of work, you weren't too happy about it in the middle of a murder scene. Neither was Chloe from how she was glaring bullets at Lucifer.
"Lucifer." She hissed, looking at him as if he had two heads. His hands stopped and you didn't even have to see his face to know he was looking back at her, annoyed that she had interrupted him. She rubbed her temple, "Y/N, I'm so sorry for all this but I do think we can help."
"Yeah, okay, I'll catch you guys up." You walked out of Lucifer's grasp, no doubt making him pout, and walked over towards Ella. "Anything different?"
"'Fraid not, homie. We'll keep looking but this place looks just as spotless as the others." You sighed, nodding as you looked at the poor girl on the floor.
"Three bodies, so far, all found in this same position." You started, ignoring Lucifer's "Well, that's no fun.". For once, you were happy to have Chloe as a barrier between the two of you. "The body is cut up and the area is always cleaned as if they're going to clean up after themselves and never get around to finishing the job.” You glared at Lucifer before he could say something about always finishing and, just as expected, he stopped in his tracks. You really knew him too well.
"It's almost like he's taunting us." Chloe thought out loud. You had worked with her when you first became a detective, it's how the two of you became so close, and if it weren't for Lucifer being so distracting you'd be beyond grateful that she was here to help. "'I could hide if I want to but why would I?'"
You sighed, running your hand down your face as you did. "Exactly." It wasn't often you let cases get to you but you had been on this one for weeks and, still, you had nothing. Nothing but more dead bodies and you couldn't help but feel guilty.
"Hey." You opened your eyes to see Lucifer crouching in front of you, something soft in his eyes as he traced the side of your face. "We're gonna catch this, vermin. You have my word." Just like that, you felt a small bit of the weight you carried be lifted off your shoulders. Lucifer kept his word, no matter the promise, and that was more relaxing than any massage. When you had first met Lucifer, it felt like a bubble had surrounded the two of you and no one else existed. As time went on and feelings were shared, you thought that feeling would disappear after a while. But, as he stood in front of you, promising to do something he had no interest in just because he knew it would make you feel better; you were stuck in that bubble again. So stuck that you didn't see the silent conversation Ella and Chloe were having right next to you as they watched the interaction take place.
----
You had a suspect. A real -most likely the killer- suspect after weeks and it was all thanks to Lucifer. He had pulled way too many strings and you didn't even want to ask if any of them were illegal because the guy was right there and all you had to do was get a confession. You walked into the room, placing your file down on the table, and prepared yourself for a long night of questioning. But, before you could even sit down, the suspect sputtered out, "I-I did it. I killed those girls." His eyes absolutely frantic as he did.
You stood there, more than shocked at the immediate confession. You turned to look at the two-way mirror, where Chloe and Lucifer were, a confused look on your face. Without you knowing, Lucifer gave you a thumbs up, a proud look on his face as if you had pried the truth out of the man's mouth. You turned back to the man, doubt suddenly clouding your mind that he was the right guy. "And what exactly did you do?" You wouldn't put it past Lucifer to tell someone to confess just so you could close the case faster. But, to your surprise, the man started listing off details that had never gone further than you and Ella. Things you had forgotten to tell Lucifer and Chloe in your haste to catch the guy before he could kill again. Somehow, Lucifer was one step ahead of you.
You walked out of the interrogation room, confused but happy that it was over. You didn't have a chance to collect your bearings before arms were encircling you and your face was smashed against a suited chest. "Well done, love. Another criminal behind bars all thanks to you."
You tried to move away but all his grasp would allow is for you to turn around so he was behind you and you could see the detective. "Is this usually how it goes?" You asked, hoping her answer was yes so something could make sense because no matter how much Lucifer loved flirting; this amount of affection was never shown in public.
Chloe covered her mouth, trying to wipe away as a smile as she watched Lucifer hug you from behind like it was nothing. "I mean, if there's something in it for him then, yeah, my suspects start talking a lot faster." She pointed towards the scene in front of her, not sure exactly what it was she was seeing, to begin with. "But, all of this. That hasn't ever been a part of it."
"So, what exactly are you getting out of this Lucifer? And, please, don't say what I know you want to." People were starting to notice that, not only, was Lucifer hugging someone but he was daring anyone to question him while he did. In the right circumstance, it would be adorable.
"I assure you, I have no idea what you're talking about." He stopped hugging you, sensing the start of you being annoyed, but still kept an arm around you. "The satisfaction of a job well done is enough for me."
"I thought you didn't lie?" You looked up at him, feeling yourself forget where you were as you stared into his eyes.
"Now, I didn't say the satisfaction had to be mine." He caressed your cheek with the back of his hand, holding your face after so you had no choice but to keep looking at him. "I'm nothing if not a selfless lover."
You giggled, actually giggled, and Chloe felt she had to step in. She knew where this led, she'd seen it too many times, and she didn't want you to get sucked into the tornado that was Lucifer Morningstar. "Okay, this seems a bit excessive, Lucifer. Even for you."
Lucifer exhaled in a way that spelled nothing but trouble. "I mean, honestly, how dull must you all be?" You placed your hand on his chest, holding him back but also reminding him that there was no need to be hostile. "The truth is detective,  I can be as excessive as I please when it comes to my relationships. Thank you, kindly." Though, you were sure he was aiming for threatening; he sounded like a petulant child and you couldn't help but laugh. It only made it worse when you turned to Chloe and saw her shocked face.
She turned to you, waiting for your denial but it wouldn't come. "We've been together for a while now, Chlo."
"So, this whole time I thought he was harassing you. You two were dating?"
"Yes. Quite annoying by the way." You hit his chest and, because he loved to humor you, he pretended it actually hurt.
"I thought you guys would catch on at some point. It's not like he's great at hiding it." You said, finally managing to separate yourself from Lucifer.
"It's Lucifer, Y/N. I just thought he was going the extra mile with you cause you were playing hard to get."
"Quite the opposite actually." You turned and glared at him, the comment far from necessary. Chloe shook her head but smiled at you nevertheless. She wished you luck and went to her desk, having paperwork of her own to do before the day ended. You turned to Lucifer, an eyebrow raised and arms crossed. "What did I do now?" He sighed, childishly.
"Did you do all of this-" You pointed towards the interrogation room, "just so you had an excuse to let everyone know we're together?"
"No." You placed your hands on your hips, waiting for the truth to inevitably come out. "Well, not at first."
You laughed, adoration no doubt in your eyes as you looked at the man. "What am I going to do with you, Morningstar?"
He pulled you close, his hands replacing yours on your hips and his forehead pressed against yours. If you didn't have an audience before, then you definitely had one now, but you didn't care. It was the end of the workday, you had just caught a killer, and you deserved a little love. "I can think of a couple of things." He whispered, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips.
"I love you." You mouthed the words, wanting them just for the two of you and not the entire precinct.
The mischief faded as he rubbed your noses together, something small and sweet that was only ever there for you. "I love you too."
********
A/N: I hope you guys enjoyed. Let me know what you thought! Requests are open and if you really like what I do then I’d appreciate if you bought me a coffee (in bio) Sorry for any mistakes :)

15x04: Lucky Them
Wow. Davy Perez has this knack of bringing it, and this time was no exception. Icing on the cake was the delight at having Jensen directing again!
We got a glimpse of Benny (happy not to have more) (however much I love his character, he’s fulfilled his purpose in the narrative in beautiful ways that I don’t really need extrapolated on) (anyway) and we got Becky back, with some real character progression to juxtapose Chuck’s alpha and omega of douchebaginess.
The more of a douche connected to dark and horrible endings Chuck is, the more hopeful I become of the opposite heading our way. *fingers crossed* :)
The best line that Becky delivered was about how she’s carved out a good life for herself and she actually likes herself now. That’s character growth right there. She found what would truly make her happy and she built on it. Bless you, Becky, you’re one of the lucky ones! Sorry you got smoked. :/
But let’s move into the meat of the story (pardon the pun) and talk about Sam and Dean and how they are simply not dealing at the moment. Either of them.
*e p i c*
Sam
Oh Sam. Sam is having nightmares and they’re of the callback kind, because here we get a glimpse of how he’s still not processed his choice to drink that demon blood, how he still carries the self-blame and the guilt and the fear of losing his tightly held control of himself around with him, even to this day. Because, as he will state in that gorgeous (and seriously tear-jerking) end-of-the-ep exchange with Dean: he can’t let it go.
But letting go doesn’t mean forgetting. Letting go means understanding that you can’t change the past, that you can’t live in a blame bubble and that carrying that guilt for choices that you wouldn’t repeat now, if put in the same situation, is toxic for the mind because it hollows out your sense of self.
Moving on means gaining perspective enough to forgive yourself your past mistakes, trust yourself not to repeat them and gain actual control of yourself through understanding where your boundaries need to be drawn and drawing them for yourself.
It sounds easy (it’s not), but if Sam can just see how strong he truly is in himself, how strong he always has been - he held Lucifer and went into the cage with him and was tortured by the Devil himself and he’s still standing - then he can begin to trust himself not to ever let the past repeat itself.
I loved that the images of Sam with black eyes was a nightmare. Does this mean it’s not foreshadowing? I don’t know! Maybe Sam needs to face his demons through a visual manifestation, but I think an internal gradual moving away from this fear of losing control could be just as effective. We shall see!
Sam daring to take the leader position is one of the ways him dealing with this fear can be, and has already been, explored, because he’s been happy for Dean to take the lead for so long because of his fear of losing control of himself, of hurting people, of hurting the ones he loves and, of course, hurting Dean, that he’s been okay with second chair, but Sam is the born leader and that second chair has never really fit him all that well.
He just has to accept that happiness, while in the life, is always going to be shadowed by the fact that people will die, that they can’t save everyone, that monsters will continue to roam the Earth, but that they’re doing what they can to make the world just a little bit better each day, and that’s all that we can ever hope to do. Like Cas once said to Dean: “You can’t save everyone, my friend. Though you try.”
Dean
Dean eats his emotions. This is what is known as an unhealthy coping mechanism, meaning that instead of actually acknowledging and dealing with whatever emotion he’s feeling that’s causing him distress, he pushes that emotion down and because of him suppressing it, the emotion finds an unhealthy behavioural outlet.
This is also a form of self-punishment.
Guilt, shame and regret are all powerful emotions that cause a person to have an unconscious need to self-punish. And what emotions are Dean feeling at this very moment, ever since he pushed so hard at the love of his life that the love of his life finally decided to put his foot down and leave?
Yeah. I’d venture there’s a fair amount of all of those emotions battling it out inside Dean. What I love most about it, though, is that yes, he’s eating the entire episode, but he only takes a sip out of that flask. Meaning? That this is unhealthy coping, but at least it is just that: coping.
He’s not being self-destructive in a putting himself in harms way, let the chips fall where they may sort of self-destructive. He’s not taking care of himself, obviously, because he doesn’t feel he deserves it, because of the aforementioned guilt, shame and regret, but he’s also not taking unnecessary risks. His sense of hopelessness, of his chance for happiness being gone, is subtle and is only highlighted in that end-of-the-ep exchange with Sam.
Oh, it’s enough to send shivers down your spine. And jerk them tears, too. *iCry*
Through that exchange we also get a Dean who is determined to keep going, to find a reason to keep going, which, to me, means there’s still slight hope that Cas will find his way back to him again. That this isn’t the end at all. Dean just doesn’t know exactly what he can do to ensure it isn’t.
I would think it would be absolutely beautiful if what Dean needs to do is drop the fast food and eat some fruit, you know? If he actually starts to do little things of self-care that show he’s actually beginning to open up to forgiving himself his past mistakes and loving himself as he is. The moment Dean can believe he deserves Cas’ love is when he’ll be able to actually see Cas and see that he might mean as much to Cas as Cas does to him. And once that door begins to open…
Yah. Fireworks.
Anyway, that’s just what I’d love to see happen.
Cas’ self-worth has clearly sky-rocketed, demonstrated to us when he decided to leave that Bunker and Dean’s emotional abuse behind, effectively telling Dean that he deserves better treatment than that. Like hell yes.
This action was so necessary, not only for Cas’ sense of self-worth, but to bring Dean into a position where he honestly has no choice but open himself up to some much needed self-reflection.
Dean needs to reflect on his own behaviour, and he should feel guilt and shame and regret, but without getting defensive about it, without pushing it down and pretending he’s fine with it. He has to actually face the consequences of his actions and step up and take responsibility for how his usual behaviour of taking his emotions (his anger) out on those closest to him is harmful, and he needs to become self-aware enough to not engage in it anymore.
Time to grow up, Dean Winchester, you beautiful man!
Let’s take a look at the end-of-the-ep exchange, shall we?
End-of-the-Ep Exchange
So we get the brothers, in the Impala, having one of those heart-to-hearts that Baby seems made for half the time. In this place of safety there’s room for honesty, always. And they usually find their way to it around her.
*still worried something will happen to Baby by the end of the season as a visual manifestation of them letting go of needing her to have this type of communication as well as moving on from the past and into the future but omg I hope nothing does and still I kinda hope something does gah*
Anyway.
I’m skipping into the meaty part of this exchange (okay stop with that pun already it’s already old) Fine.
Dean talks about how he felt like cashing out in the crypt after Chuck went all Apocalypse World 55.1 on their asses, but Sam brought him out of that line of thinking by reminding him that what they do matter. And Dean is all about picking Sam up, has been trying to for the whole episode, wanting to do the same for Sam that Sam did for him, of course, and remind him that what they do matter, because they save lives.
And a little more than that.
They keep the blinds down for the rest of the world, right? They allow for people to live their white-picket-fence lives and never worry about what goes bump in the night, which is what Sam has been so fed up with for the entire episode: the hopelessness of their situation; because there will always be more monsters, no matter what they do, and people will die, no matter how many they save.
To the exchange, then –>
Dean: ‘Cause it is, you know, It’s a crap job. We do the ugly thing so that people can live happy. Sam: Yeah. Lucky them. Dean: Yeah, lucky them.
Tumblr media
So Sam’s reaction here can be read whichever way you like it, really, but looking at the subtext of the exchange - which, for Dean, is un-subtly all to do with Cas - Sam’s reaction tied to Dean agreeing that the people who get to live happy are lucky can very well be seen as Sam reacting to Dean letting his guard down and  admitting that, yes, happy sounds good, happy sounds nice, and he wouldn’t mind a bit of happy for himself.
What’s more mind-blowing about this admittance, to me, has to do with the Cas-subtext of the exchange, though, because that’s for us, the viewers, who understand that when Dean talks about moving on, that’s a signal for us - who witnessed that very private moment between Dean and Cas in the previous episode - to get where Dean’s head is at.
So when Dean very subtly agrees with Sam about how living a long and happy life (and I’m paraphrasing Mildred because relevant) would be good, we can detect that there’s a deeper reason for why it’s not only monsters and death keeping Dean from living it.
And, what’s more, the fact that he puts into words that he wants to live a long and happy life is a huge, huge marker, at least to this meta writer, of how far he’s come in his progression, because he wants it and he’s not about to lie to himself that he doesn’t, but, by that same token, he still does not believe he deserves it and he can’t see himself ever having happiness, which is part of why he’s been self-punishing himself the entire episode, because it’s this incapability of accepting happiness when it’s right there that made him push Cas away and it’s a vicious, vicious cycle of lack of self-love and self-worth.
(jaysusssss very beautifully done)
Tumblr media
And look at Dean’s FAAAACE ^^^
Tumblr media
And Sam is still reacting to all this because what? – did Dean just admit that he doesn’t want the Blaze of Glory ending for himself? (and yeah with Cas having left I’m pretty sure Sam is hyper aware of the possibility that Dean is actually, in his own way, admitting that a future without Cas looks pretty bleak to him)
Back to the exchange where Dean says all these amazing, amazing things –>
Dean: But it doesn’t change a thing. You know what I mean? We still do the job, but we don’t do it for us. We do it for Jack, for mom, for Rowena. We owe it to anyone who’s ever given a damn about us to put one foot in front of the other. No matter what.
And let me pause for a moment there and just have us all look at what exactly he is saying here, because, oh boy, is it telling of how he just has not reached a healthy place in any shape or form. Now, in a way, this is healthier than digging himself a hole and lying in it, yeah? Absolutely.
It’s that “fake it” mentality of S7 all over again and I’d rather he be here, with a glimmer of hope (I always thought you’d come back type of hope with that trench coat in the trunk of every car they drove that season), and finding a reason to keep going, than be in that dark place he was in during his grief!arc at the start of S13, when he couldn’t believe in a damn thing and he didn’t care, at all, what happened to him, BUT there is still that echo here, which is why it’s such an unhealthy frame of mind for him to cling to.
They don’t have a purpose in life for themselves, they find it through others.
No.
It brings us right back to what he said to Sam at the end of 13x20: I don’t really care what happens to me, I never have.
And what he told Death in 14x05: I don’t matter.
This attitude is the reason why he can’t move out of this perpetual state of not believing he deserves more. That he deserves everything.
And this is what’s keeping him from daring to want more for himself, daring to feel how much more he does want for himself, because every time he’s dared to want more, it’s come crashing down around him. His fear of happiness runs extremely deep.
It’s time to face it and let go of it and embrace the fact of how his life and how he chooses to live it benefiting others is a great gift, but him giving that gift also means he has every right to balance the giving out with a bit of receiving.
*please and thank you*
Of course, all of this is underlined in what he says next –>
Dean: And hey, man, like you said, now that Chuck’s gone, we’re finally on our own. We are finally free to move on, you know?
Tumblr media
And the way this is phrased, so brilliantly, of course makes it impossible not to see it as a subtle reveal of what Dean is thinking about Cas leaving: without Chuck pulling Cas’ strings, Cas was finally free to make the choice to leave.
But this is also tied to what Dean needs to stop getting hung up on, because he’s purposefully blocking out what Cas said, which is that for all his string-pulling, Chuck still had to pivot with their choices. He didn’t control those. He manipulated them, sure, but he didn’t force them into making them. And each choice they’ve made has added to their understanding of themselves and of the world and their place in it. They are real.
Cas didn’t choose to leave because now he’s free of Chuck’s influence - he chose to leave because Dean was breaking his heart, because Dean refused to hear him, because Dean was shutting him out and pushing him away, because Dean’s inability to stop using the blame game as an excuse not to connect or open up wasn’t gonna fly anymore.
And this is what Dean needs to face, so Dean talking about finally being “on our own” and free is the last vestige of his performance remaining, the final lie he has to tell himself until he can face his fears and take responsibility for his actions, because the alternative is to live without Cas, aka without happiness.
I mean, the absolute defeat on Dean’s face in the screen grab above reminds me of his face watching Cas’ body burn at the end of 13x01. And then that expression switches into this –>
Tumblr media
–> grim determination.
The top one is all: I’ve lost him, I’ve lost him.
The bottom one is all: It’s for the best anyway, what did you think was gonna happen, he’s better off without you, let him go live his life.
(headcanon but yeah like fuuuuck feelings)
And, of course, Sam is there to voice exactly how Dean is really feeling.
Sam: I don’t know if I can move on. You know, I can’t forget any of them. Dean, I still think about Jessica. I can’t just let that go. Dean: No, no, man, that’s not what I’m talking about.
(because Dean is talking about the healthy way to let go, which is to not let the past rule your present, to be aware and appreciate and remember, but not cling onto old ideals and ideas, or past mistakes that you can’t change, no matter how much you wish you could)
Sam: I know, I know, I know, I’m sorry, I know, but what I’m talking about is that I don’t feel free. What we’ve done, what we’ve lost, right now that is what I’m feeling and sometimes it’s… Sometimes it’s like I can’t even breathe.
And all I could think when Sam said that was Dean talking about feeling as though he was drowning while being possessed by Michael. The suffocating feeling of the weight of all those old ideals and ideas and having no other choice but to succumb, because he wasn’t strong enough to fight them at the time.
Sam is dealing with his own set of old ideals and ideas now, because while we see Dean actively suppress his thoughts and feelings and finding unhealthy, though at least stabile, outlets through coping mechanisms like overeating and drinking and working this episode, Sam is not about to suppress anything.
He feels his irritation, his impatience, his hopelessness and it comes out in how he interacts with others, with his surroundings, with Dean, with the case. Sam doesn’t have outlets. He bottles everything up. He thinks he’s fine and he’s handling it, but he’s not. And he hasn’t been fine for a very long time. That hopelessness always niggling. That question of what is the point if there’s no end to the suffering?
I honestly believe he needs to accept that not everyone can be saved. I’m hopeful that he will, but I’ll admit I’m a little worried about what’s in store for our Sam. I hope he’ll have to get dragged through the darkest place before he can come out victorious on the other side, the same way Cas and Dean have been over the past four seasons.
Sam: …Maybe tomorrow. You know, maybe I’ll feel better in the morning. Dean: And what if you don’t? Sam: I don’t know.
It’s interesting looking at how this conversation is structured: Dean reminding Sam that Sam saved him from himself and succeeded, and Dean, this episode, trying to save Sam from himself without success.
The thing is, I can see Sam needing to save himself, needing to get to a place where he’s ready to fully let go of Dean, because he realises that Dean doesn’t need him the way he used to, and them holding onto each other and their old ideals and ideas of how to relate themselves to each other is no good, for either of them, and, once this shift in Sam happens, for him to, without hesitation, step into a leader position and accept that this is his place and where he belongs and there is great purpose to be found there, and through that purpose, there’s great happiness to be had too. Aw Sam! *hopes and wishes*
I really loved this episode so much. I’m still not over this scene, haven’t quite digested how Jensen delivered that slight speech and all the very subtle truths baked into this exchange that were so extremely revealing of what’s really going on inside of him, as well as Sam stating what’s going on inside of him, following that harrowing dream sequence that opened the ep.
Gorgeous stuff. Gorgeous, gorgeous stuff.

Lucifer x female!reader
Tumblr media
Title: The guardian devil
Pairing: Lucifer x Female!Reader
Summary: Lucifer had a new born daughter. A woman never survives the birth of a nephilim. Lucifer didn’t know. The hospital called him up after it happened. Not knowing what to do he picked up the little girl and walked to the only human he trusted blindly. Y/n was his best friend since he first said foot in LA. She had seen his true face and didn’t flinch. She was fascinated. She protected the nephilim with her life.
!!!!Warning!!!!! : Violence
Disclaimer: I don’t own Lucifer. I just own my creativity.
Enjoy!
------
Lucifer and I just told a child not to bully. He was not fond of kids at all. "You want one of those?” Lucifer asked. “I don’t want that kid.” I laughed, “But a breed of child would be nice.” “I will never understand you humans.” “So you classify me as human now.” “You’re special, love.”
I blushed and held his hand in mine. Lucifer got a call.
“Lucifer Morningstar.” He replied. With that Lucifer just stormed off. I was confused. I tried calling him, but he didn’t reply. I just went home and waited. It wasn’t the first time Lucifer took off like that.I opened my door and saw Lucifer with a little baby.
“Lucifer? Where did you get this baby?”
Lucifer just stood there. He was about to cry. I took the baby in my arms.
“Her name is Faith.” “Where did you get her? Stealing babies is not allowed.” “She’s m-my daughter.” He uttered. “What?” I asked.
Lucifer sat down in my couch. I took his hand. Lucifer was usually very cocky. This was something you had never seen.
“A few months ago things in the club got out of hand with one of the dancers. You know me. I never thought a spawn of the devil got created. Today they called me telling me I was the father. The mother died at birth. Something I knew would happen. Now I’m at a loss. I’m left with this. I’m not a father.” “You would be surprised.” “No you don’t understand, love.” “What don’t I understand?” “What I’m trying to say is...”
I looked him in the eyes and encouraged him to keep talking.
“I need you. I can’t take care of this baby on my own. You’re the only one I trust.” “I’ll help Lucifer. You know you can count on me.”
Two years of living with the Morningstars had its moments. Lucifer tried his best but we all know he’s not a children’s man. In the process I fell for the devil. He dared to be vulnerable around you. Mazikeen wasn’t happy but she learned to love the spawn. Chloe knew but tried not to think of how badly it could end. He was there for his family as much as he could. Her first steps were a victorious moment for him. I stroked her hair. A little lullaby escaped my lips. She was finally asleep. I tucked her in and walked to the kitchen to make myself some dinner. Lucifer should be home soon. Something fell in Lucifer and my bedroom.
“Lucifer?”
I didn’t get a reply and ran to Faith. I woke her up and told her to hide until daddy came home. He would get her out. Lucifer had told me they might come for her. It was a miracle it took them this long to come get her. A shadow appeared behind me. I recognised him. A demon. I dialed Lucifer’s phone and put the phone in m pocket.
“Where is the girl?” “You stay away from my daughter.” “A nephilim doesn’t have a mother. They kill them.” “You want to find her? You’ll have to kill me.” “With pleasure.” He grinned.
Lucifer picked up his phone. All he heard was things falling and me screaming before the connection was lost. He looked to Dan and Chloe with great distress.
“Lucifer?” Dan asked. “They took my family.” “Lucifer where were they?” “At my penthouse of course.” The trio went there as soon as possible. It was empty. Only smashed things and blood on the floor. Lucifer got angry. He almost lost control, until he heard soft sobs. He followed them to the bar. In one of the cupboards sat Faith crying. Lucifer picked her up. “Daddy.” She cried and held him tight. “Daddy’s got you.”
Almost instantly her cries faded. Dan and Chloe looked at the devil. He was so sweet towards the girl.
“They took Y/n.” Lucifer concluded. “She’s a big girl. She can handle herself.” “Thanks for nothing Detective Douch. I love her. She’s family. My family.” “Lucifer she could be anywhere.” “Then look everywhere! She’s my responsibility!”
Dan wanted to react but Lucifer sat down and hushed the little girl. He had a daughter to protect. “Lucifer we can’t look everywhere. Do you know who did this? Don’t say a demon.” “It was a demon, Detective. If demon’s get my daughter it’s over life on earth as you know it will be eradicated. Not that it bloody matters because you don’t believe me.” “Lucifer. I came as soon as I could.”
Mazikeen held out her blades. Chloe wanted to protest.
“Auntie!” Faith shouted and held her close. “He little Spawn.” “You find mommy?” “I will do my best.”
Lucifer started pacing.
“Lucifer?” Dan asked. “Detective Douch. You’re in charge of my daughter. Let no one close to her.” “Daddy don’t leave me.”
Faith’s begging made Lucifer soften his expression.
“I have to go save mommy.” Lucifer hushed. “You come back.” “Always.” He smiled and held her close. Dan held her close and protected her. He and Lucifer weren’t best friends, but Dan cared for the Morningstars. I screamed out the pain.
“Where is she?” “I told you. I’m not telling you ever.” “Are you willing to die for it.” “Yes.”
The demon hit me across my face.
“Bloody hell you demon’s don’t know when to stop do you?” “Torturing is what I do.” “Good for you. I live with the Devil. So sooner or later he will find you and you wish you’d never laid a hand on his friend.” “He’s the devil, he’s not going to be looking for you.”  “Than you’ll just have to kill me I guess. You will never lay a hand on my daughter.” The demon threw me in a locked room. I screamed out the pain. My body was one open wound. Lucifer stopped on the way to the car and held his ears.
“Lucifer?” Chloe asked. “He can feel her.” “Maze I know where they are. Get in.” Lucifer stepped on it. Chloe could barely follow. Lucifer kicked open the door. He wore his true face. The demons that were coming up with a plan were taken by surprise. “You have something that belongs to me.” “Give up the Nephilim.” “Wrong answer.” They were brave and wanted to start fighting. Maze was ready to fight. A fight broke loose until Lucifer showed his full form. The demons got intimidated and left. Maze smiled. This was the king she followed. Lucifer kicked open the door you were behind.
“I know you.” I smiled weakly.
He picked me up. A little scared of my reaction. I nuzzled closer.
“I knew you’d come save me.” “I’m sorry.” “I’m not. I like the new look.” I whispered.
Lucifer changed back and his angel wings were back. He didn’t know why and looked at Maze. She was as surprised as he was.
“Let’s get you home, love.”
Maze followed him out and Chloe ran towards them.
“What were you thinking? You drove 70mph the whole way, showed no regard for the rules.” “Yes, I will take full responsibility, Detective, but she is family. I’m not abandoning them like my father abandoned me.” Chloe drove us back to Lux while Maze drove Lucifer’s car. Lucifer was very protective. I woke up and looked at his face. I traced my finger across his cheekbones.
“Well hello, love.” “I love you.” I blurted out. Lucifer smiled and kissed my lips. We split apart for a few seconds. We were making out in the back of Chloe’s car. Years of banter and slight flirtations it was finally unleashed.
“Guys. No.”
I pulled back and my wounds were healed.
“My guardian devil.”
I walked into the penthouse. Faith was jumping on the couch. I ran over to her and held her close.
“Mommy!” “I’m here, my little devil.”
Lucifer chuckled and kissed me.
“Nothing can break us up.” I smiled.
Faith laid on my shoulder as I swayed her to sleep. I gave Lucifer a look. He knew what I meant and took a deep breath.
“Thank you, Dan, for babysitting my daughter.” “You called me Dan, are you okay?” “Don’t get used to it, will you?”
They left. You curled close to Lucifer.
“I love you, Lucifer. All of you.” “I love you too.”
Lucifer protected his two girls.

I let her steal into my melancholy heart
It's more than I can bear
Now I know she'll never leave me
Even as she runs away
She will still torment me
Calm me, hurt me
Move me, come what may
Wasting in my lonely tower

                                                        Her
Jane. That's the name they chose for her. Well, the name Chloe had picked out. He'd found it a little plain, somewhat unfitting for someone whose father was literally the king of the underworld himself. But it seemed right. Even though she was far more precious than any four letter word could describe. Perfect. Fragile. His daughter. Jane.
Everything was fine until the accident happened. Jane was only a few months old when Chloe, sleep deprived, went out one night in search of diapers. He'd forgotten to pick up a pack on the way home from Lux. They fought. Argued. It was such a trivial matter. When he got the call about the crash, everything around him seemed to shatter. The phone fell, cracking on the floor, and the baby cried from her crib. But he didn't seem to notice.
Lucifer hated funerals. Pitying the dead. Either they'd done well and would go to heaven, or slip into the fiery depths he once called home. No need to remember. But he stood there anyway, Jane bundled up tight, as he numbly nodded thanks to those who shared their condolences. He hated them. Hated himself. Jane cooed, but he didn't have the energy to look at her either.
Months went by. Years. The pain still ran deep within him, like raw cuts from animal claws, but he learned how to work around it. Jane had grown, now four years old. She was talking, smiling, playing like any normal child. But she looked like her. Her hair. Smile. Eyes. In her, he saw Chloe, and it burned. Lucifer fought it as best he could. For her. For Jane. For Chloe.
"Daddy?"
Lucifer eyes opened. Jane had crawled on top of his bed, peering down at him with a smile. He exhaled, sitting up. Most days, he tended to wake up on time. When he didn't, his daughter made sure that their day wasn't delayed.
"Morning," he yawned, offering a small smile. "I suppose you didn't make me a cup of coffee?"
She giggled at his joke and shook her head. "Nope," she exclaimed.
"Pity," he exclaimed, running his fingers through her messy bed hair. "Well, at least there is always breakfast. Cereal and cartoons? I do hope we haven't missed Tom and Jerry."
"Not yet," she assured him. "But we have to hurry! Come on, Daddy!"
Perhaps not the best breakfast of champions, but he didn't think Chloe would mind too much about giving their child a little extra sugar. She was a good girl, after all. Didn't cause any trouble-which came as quite a relief, seeing that she was his child.
After Chloe's death, Lucifer's involvement with the LAPD began to slip. At first he didn't realize it, but he'd begun to distance himself from anything that reminded him of Chloe. Of course he had to suffer through visits with Dan, Jane was Trixie's half sister after all. The older girl always put on a brave face. She was like her mother in that way. It was nice to know Jane had someone to look up to.
"Hurry alone, Jane, it's nearly time for preschool," Lucifer called out, peering down at his watch. An anniversary gift from Chloe. Something he didn't have the heart to part with. "Aunt Maze will be picking you up today. I have some matters to attend to at Lux."
Maze had been a constant companion after the accident. She had forced herself on him-and not in a sexual sense. When he was at his lowest, it had been her who'd figuratively kick him in the ass to sober up and be there for Jane. He was lucky to have her and she loved Jane, a feeling that was reciprocated. The demon had a knack when it came to Chloe's kids. He'd never understand it.
"Backpack?" He inquired, adjusting his jacket. "Lunch?"
"Uhuh!" Jane chimed in cheerfully, whipping around to show him the pink bag with a skull patch ironed on in the middle. An accessory done by Maze. "Ready!"
He hadn't a clue about kids. The idea made his stomach crawl. When Chloe announced she was pregnant, for the first time in his life, Lucifer Morningstar felt absolutely terrified. The pregnancy itself went well, the detective's occasional hormonal outbursts a rather unpleasant side effect. When she went into labor, the overwhelming pressure of it all almost brought the Devil to his knees. But the moment he held her, gazed down upon the tiny newborn, he'd never experienced such happiness, such fear in his life. From that moment forward, he swore to protect her. His little hellion. Jane.
"Let me out," the little girl protested, struggling against her car seat restraints. "I'm stuck!"
"Hang on, hang on," Lucifer exhaled, rolling his eyes. "What's the bloody rush for?"
"I wanna sit on the bean bag," she explained hastily, nearly falling out when Lucifer unclipped her. "Before Jaime Dunn does."
Jaime Dunn. Of course. Father a wealthy banker. Mother a trophy wife. Their son would surely grow up into a prick. Not someone he wanted his child around. But Chloe had picked this school. Even before Jane was born the detective insisted on preparing ahead. Who was he to deny her of her wish? He owed her plenty.
"Hug and kiss," he said, bending down to wrap his arms around Jane. "And perhaps, if you are so inclined, maybe slide a worm down Jaime's shirt?" Lucifer winked, his daughter's smile broadening. "But don't get caught."
"Be stealthy," she declared. "Like Aunt Maze!"
"Exactly," he smirked. "Clever girl."
"Bye, Daddy," Jane waved, heading towards the school's entrance. "I love you!"
"I love you too," his smile began to falter, eyes watching as the doors closed. "More than you know."
Dr. Linda Martin had tried from the moment she learned of Chloe's death to help Lucifer. Try to get through the thick, muddy waters that was his depression. He had been low, but after losing her, he'd sunken to the deepest parts of Hell. It was a dark place. His mind. And the thought of carrying on seemed so difficult. But then there was Jane. This tiny piece of his beloved he still clung onto. The only hope in an empty existence.
"It's good to see you, Lucifer," the doctor smiled as he took his regular seat on the couch. "It's been awhile."
"I suppose it has," he admitted.
"How's Jane?" She inquired, leaning forward. "Amenadiel was just talking about her the other day. Dan had shown him some pictures on his phone of Trixie and her playing?"
"So my brother has sunken to the level of finding companionship with Detective Douche," Lucifer scoffed. "Not a surprise."
"We miss you, you know," Linda said, her expression sympathetic. "We all do. Lucifer, it's been quite a long time. I know things are still hard…"
"Don't," he shook his head. "Don't start. All of you keep thinking that you know. You don't."
The therapist was silent for a moment. "How's your relationship with Jane?"
Lucifer's brow furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean? She's my child. I do fatherly things with her. With lack of experience and coming from the family that I did, I'm assuming things are rather bloody peachy."
On the offense. That's how he always got when the subject was broached. He didn't mean it usually. Even after four years it was still sensitive. Lucifer was doing his best. At least he tried to. What would Chloe think if she saw him now? Would her love still stand?
"Fine," he said quietly. "We eat breakfast together, watch cartoons. She likes to finger paint, gets the stuff bloody everywhere. I read to her each night, well, I try to. Jane likes the park, the swings. The other day she saw a toad. Even picked it up."
Linda nodded thoughtfully. "And how are you doing, Lucifer?"
He stiffened visible, fingers digging into his palms. Yet another subject he didn't wish to discuss. His feelings. Thoughts. He preferred to push everything back. Far into the depths of his mind. But they'd reappear in his dreams. Sometimes haunting him. Nightmares. He'd wake up in a cold sweat and look over half expecting Chloe to be there lying fast asleep by his side. She never was.
"Fine," he lied. "Actually, I think I need to go, I…"
"Lucifer," Linda's voice was firmer, making the man stop in his tracks. "How are you?"
"I see her," he mumbled.
"Who?" Linda asked softly. "Who do you see?"
"Chloe," he finally answered. "In Jane. Whenever I look at her, I see Chloe. Her eyes. Her face. Her hair. The way she smiles at me. Sometimes I can't even bear it, I have to force myself to look at her. My own child. It's like someone is squeezing my bloody heart."
"But you love her," Linda ventured.
"Of course I bloody do," he nearly snapped. "More than anything. She's all I have of Chloe. She's my daughter. I'd do anything for her." Lucifer sighed, fighting back tears. "But I don't deserve her. It should've been me that night, not Chloe."
"It wasn't your fault-"
"But it was," Lucifer countered, sucking in a sharp breath. "I forgot the diapers and we got into some silly, bloody argument and I let her go out. I didn't offer to do it. It should be Chloe raising Jane, not me."
"But you are raising her," the therapist said gently, reaching forward to rest a hand on Lucifer's knee. "And if Chloe was here, she'd be so proud."
"I miss her," he swallowed hard, eyes watering. "And the more I try to stop, the more I do. I just want the pain to go away." He paused, recollecting himself. "But I look at Jane and realize that I have to be here for her. It's what Chloe would want. I'd do anything for Chloe. For Jane."
"I know," Linda smiled. "Jane couldn't ask for a better father."
Sometimes he pulled late nights at Lux-either he had things to do, or needed to clear his mind. When he arrived home, greeting Maze who sat drinking a cocktail in the kitchen, he slipped his shoes off and entered Jane's room. Through the mess of stuffed animals, he could just make out a small, sleeping figure huddled under the covers. He smiled softly, quietly making his way over. Fast asleep, he gently moved back a lock of her hair.
"I'm sorry I got home so late," he whispered. "I'll make it up to you. Ice cream for breakfast." He chuckled softly at the thought of Chloe's reaction to that. "Goodnight," Lucifer murmured, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "I love you."
Forever and always.

"Last one, I promise." You rub the pup's head and she licks your face in trust. You smile and insert the last shot into the shoulder blades, "All done!"
Treat….
The pup looks up at you happily as her owners start petting her in congratulations.
You smile back and wink. You reach into your treat jar on the counter, "What a good girl you are!" You give her the treat and another pat on the head. You look at the owners, "Her vaccines are all done! She's free to run around with other animals."
"Awesome! We can't wait to get her to the dog park!" The husband says.
"Yeah! Poor girl whines at it every time we pass by." The wife laughs and kisses her pup's nose.
"I bet. You've got a real energetic one here." You laugh and gather your paperwork, "Well hopefully I won't have to see you till next year! Have fun little one." The pup puts her paws on your shoulders and gives you a lick. The husband then puts her harness and leash back on.
Bye….nice….playtime!
You wave to the pup as the family leaves the room. You exit through the opposite door when a worker comes in to clean the room for the next patient.
That was the last one scheduled for you today, and you didn't have to stay overtime with all the veterinarians in. You head into your office and sit on your comfy leather chair. As you put the paperwork away in your desk drawer your phone chimes, informing you of a text message.
"Is it Lucifer?" Alice asks as she walks into your office to hand you some more paperwork.
You shake your head, "No. Just Chloe. There's a new case."
"Oh…"
You look up suspiciously at your business partner and close friend, "What?"
"Well, I was hoping it was him so you could stop stressing." She shrugs.
"I'm not stressing over him." You lie and by Alice's eye roll, she knows it too.
Lucifer Morningstar has been gone from LA for nearly two weeks. Everyone, even Dan, has been trying to contact him since Chloe found his penthouse laid in white sheets. Lucifer didn't reply to anyone, not even you.
You can't help but think that he's gone because of you. Maybe you got too...personal during Chloe's poison scare. It scared the hell out of you what you two almost did. Maybe it scared him too and he had to escape just like with Chloe.
Or worst case: your past has come back sooner than you intended and took him.
You shake the thought from your mind and stand from your chair, "Call me if you need me." You hang your lab coat on the door hook and pass by Alice.
She grabs your arm, "I'm sure he's ok, Earth."
You nod slightly, not looking at her, "Yeah."
----------------------------------------
You pull up to the crime scene and park next to Chloe's car.
"Hey, Earth!" Ella smiles and waves happily at you when you join the group. Dan gives you a nod and Chloe looks at you with that same question in her eyes for the past two weeks.
You shake your head slightly at her, and like all the other days before her face flashes disappointment before returning neutral, "So, what's the case?"
"This guy's name is Ash Corrigan. Looks like he died from a blunt object to the head." Ella replies.
"Any idea on leads or murder object?"
"Not yet, but I did find this." Chloe hands you a flyer for a band. The victim appears to be the band's singer.
You and Chloe drive to the band's studio for questioning. The bandmates give you two a lead into a possible suspect: a woman named Courtney who was Ash's ex-wife and according to the female of the band, Courtney is bossy and violent. You two return to the precinct to meet up with Dan and Ella.
You half sit on Chloe's desk and drink from your bottle of water as Chloe explains what you two learned.
"That girl's name has popped up around here before." Dan says, "She's known for being abusive in her relationships."
"Alright. Earth and I will go talk to her. Do you have her address?" Chloe says.
"Yeah, here-"
"Detective!"
Your eyebrows shoot up to your hairline, your eyes go wide, and you painfully spin your head around to look at the staircase. You can only see the back of Chloe's head, but you imagine she has the same look.
Lucifer Morningstar happily trots down the stairs like it was a normal day, and stands in front of Chloe with a wide grin.
"Lucifer?!" Chloe is speechless.
Lucifer gives himself a grand stature with his hands, "In the flesh!" He says while still smiling. He looks to everyone in the group, "Detective Douche, Ms. Lopez, K9."
You instantly look away from him when his eyes meet yours. Unlike Ella and Dan, you give Lucifer a barely audible grunt of acknowledgment. You ignore the fact that you think you see his smile slightly dim at your response.
Fucking dick. You take a long drink of your water.
"Lucifer...what happened? Where did you go? Are you ok?" The words tumble out of Chloe and she looks him over for any damage.
"Oh, I'm perfectly fine Detective! Just needed to blow off some steam after, well, everything."
Ass. Hole. You continue to drink your water, afraid that if you stopped you'd end up strangling him. Much better, and less criminal, to slowly squeeze the bottle of its contents.
"Anyways," Lucifer claps his hands together, "I have some news!"
"What-" but Chloe's question is cut off by a high pitched voice calling for Lucifer.
That makes you look again. You hold in your gulp of water as you watch a woman walk down the stairs in very high heels and a tight short pink dress. She has wavy blonde hair with pink streaks running through. She puts an arm in the crook of Lucifer's elbow and looks up at him with big brown eyes.
"I'm sorry, baby! I know you said to wait, but I got lonely." She pouts.
"It's quite alright, darling. Well, everyone!" Lucifer pats the woman's hand, "I'd like to introduce my wife, Candy Morningstar!"
Your hand flies to your mouth as water starts to escape. Ella rubs your back as you practically choke to death, and you imagine Chloe's face resembles that of Ella and Dan's: pure shock. Candy, oblivious to everyone's reaction, holds her hand up and is squealing happily as she shows off her ring. Lucifer smiles and holds up his hand to show a matching band.
What. The. Fuck.
----------------------------------------
"LUCIFER!"
You storm out of the elevator and yell for him. Your nostrils are flaring and your hands are balled into tight fists.
"LUCIFER!" You yell again, "GET OUT HERE!"
"Oh!" You hear a familiar squeak and look to the couch to see Candy pulling out earbuds. She's lounging on the couch, feet up on the coffee table, and high heels discarded on the floor.
Uhhh...
"You're K9, right?!" Candy expertly puts on her heels and skips over to you, "I've been so excited to meet you!" She giggles and hugs you.
Well, this feels awkward.
"Candy, darling, this is the person I said you can be yourself around." Lucifer comes from his closet and stands in his bedroom entryway, "She's the only one I'm not worried about."
"Oh, good!" You see an instant change in Candy. She seems to deflate from the perky personality and turns to a more "natural" one, "Almost thought I blew the favor there, Lucifer."
"Not quite." He winks at her.
Whaaat?
The look of complete confusion on your face makes Lucifer burst out laughing. You turn your attention to him, furious again, "What the hell is going on, Lucifer?!"
"Right right. Well," he takes the two steps down from his bedroom, "after the whole fiasco a couple of weeks ago I went to Las Vegas and met the lovely Candy who stands before you." You look at Candy and she gives you a small shrug and smiles with a wave, "I helped her out with her family business and in return, she agreed to marry me." He smiles at you like that clears everything up while he straightens his cufflinks.
"Only for a little while." Candy mentions when she sees the look on your face, "Once I'm done here tricking his family then we're getting a divorce."
"Wait wait wait." You close your eyes to process the information while shaking both your hands at them, "You," you look at Candy, "Actually got married to him-" you point at Lucifer with your focus still on her, "just to return a favor?"
"Well, my father's business means everything to me. If being married for two weeks is all it takes to save it I'd accept in a heartbeat."
"But, actually marry him?"
"Well, of course!" Lucifer buts in before Candy can respond. He walks to stand next to his piano, "Have to make it legitimate for my family who is no doubt snooping as we speak."
"Ok…" You take a breath in and out to process all this then look to him a bit more calmly, "So, you helped out Candy and as a return favor you had her marry you in order to trick your family?"
"Good job, K9!" He smiles and gives you two thumbs up.
"But-" you look at him sternly, "what does marrying Candy have to do with tricking your family? Better yet, why are you tricking them in the first place?"
"They've gotten too involved in my life." Lucifer suddenly turns serious and that makes you blink in shock at the quick mood change, "Pushing me to go in a direction that was planned. If it hasn't been obvious already, I don't let anyone push me into anything." The slight growl he had at the end of his sentence made you shiver, even though you suspect it's not aimed at you since he looked up.
"Fine, but why didn't you tell anyone?"
"Well, that would ruin Candy's-"
"No, Lucifer. That's not what I'm asking about." Your hands return to fists, "Why didn't you tell anyone you were fine?"
Lucifer stares at you, head tilted in puzzlement. Candy's wise enough to take a few steps back at the sound of your voice.
"I don't know what you mean, K9." He says sincerely, "I often disappear. Surely Maze told you that."
"You have friends now, Lucifer." You step to him, "Friends care about each other. You not contacting anyone really scared-" you freeze for a second, "...Chloe." You look away from him.
Lucifer just stares at you and it's making it hard for you to breath, "I realize that now, which is why I'm trying to fix our partnership, but," he puts a palm to the side of your face to push your eyes back to his, "I didn't mean to scare anyone. Not the Detective. Not you." His thumb caresses under your left eye and you can feel that same pull from before in the hospital.
But you're still hurt.
You step away from him, "Yeah, well you did. Better get going before you're late. That definitely won't help you win her back." You turn away from him and head for the elevator.
"K9-"
"I don't want to hear it-" You step inside the elevator when the doors open and you end up bumping into someone. "Oh!" You take a slight step back and look up, "Sorry-"
You freeze.
Charlotte Richards looks annoyed as she fixes any possible wrinkles your bump could have caused. She looks down at you, "Ah. The human who didn't blow up. Of course you'd be here."
You take an involuntary step back at the tone of her voice and the look she gave you. You didn't expect that one step to put you against Lucifer's chest. He wasn't even near you before this.
"And the woman who paid off one of K9's possible murderer's bail," Lucifer replies back with the same tone. Charlotte just stares at him, and you can't help but sink more into Lucifer at the air change in between the two.
She freaks me out.
"What are you doing here?" Lucifer asks.
"I came to see what's so special about this woman you married, and why I wasn't invited to such an important event." She steps further inside the penthouse.
"Simple: no one has control on what I do and no enemies allowed." He smiles sarcastically at her and she rolls her eyes.
"Ooh! Are you Lucifer's sister?!" Candy's facade is back on and she giddies up to Charlotte just like she did to you. She goes in for a hug but Charlotte holds her hand up.
"I'm his mother." She hisses out.
"Whaaat?! Oh my gosh! You're so beautifully young!" Candy, it now seems to you, is an expert at acting. She didn't even flinch at Charlotte's coldness.
"I have an idea!" Lucifer exclaims, "Why don't you two enjoy a shopping day together! To get to know each other!" He winks at Candy.
"I would love that! Come on, mom!" Candy pulls Charlotte into the elevator, and you can't help the smirk that appears when you see Charlotte's face.
But the smirk instantly falls when you remember who you're stuck with now, alone, "Well, suppose we'll catch the next ride then?"
You can tell he's smiling behind you, but you refuse to turn around. Instead, you walk to the elevator and wait patiently for the doors to reopen.
Lucifer sighs and walks to stand next to you, also patiently waiting.
"K9-"
"Why am I allowed to know all this?" You cut him off. Still staring at the elevator you continue, "Why am I the 'only one you're not worried about'?"
He looks at you, "Because you're-", he stops, then faces the elevator, "You're just not. That's all."
You grunt and cross your arms, "Great explanation, Lucifer."
"K9, I-"
"Why don't you tell Chloe?" You cut in again.
He doesn't answer, and that makes your blood boil.
"You're tricking her too?" You look at him with fire in your eyes.
"Not...precisely."
"What the hell is going on with you?!" You face him now, "You two just got together! I thought-"
"Yes well, so did I." Now he cuts you off and faces you. You can't read whatever that emotion was in his eyes, "She and I are meant to be, which means it can't be."
"What."
But he just shakes his head and whispers, "You wouldn't believe me anyway. No point in trying to explain it."
"Well, what I do understand is-" you shove him, hard, "that you're too much of a chicken shit to just tell her. You just go off, marry some other woman, and leave her heartbroken with no explanation."
You're still boiling, but it feels good to see him hurt.
The elevator doors open, "Get your own ride." You say as you head inside and close the doors on him.
----------------------------------------
"Do I play good or what?" Candy smiles as she walks up to the car Lucifer called for her.
He smiles back, "Good indeed, my dear." He takes her suitcase from her and hands it to the driver to put in the trunk, "That'll teach my family not to butt into my business."
She laughs. The driver returns to the front and Lucifer opens the door for her, "Oh, here. Don't need this anymore." She removes her wedding ring and hands it to him.
But he pushes her hand back, "Keep it, darling. As a remembrance. In fact," Lucifer removes his wedding band, "keep this too."
Candy smiles warmly at him and takes both rings, "Thank you, Lucifer. For everything."
The two hug each other, "Call me if you need anything." Lucifer says. Candy nods then pulls back. She's halfway into the car when she stops and looks back at him.
"Just curious...what's the deal with you and K9?"
Lucifer just chuckles and looks away.
Candy gets the hint, "I get it." She raises a hand, "None of my business, but if I were you Lucifer, I wouldn't mess that up." He looks back to her and with a small smile, he nods. Candy goes into the car fully and he shuts the door. He watches the car drive into the street and away.
"I hope I haven't." He looks up at his building, then down at his phone where a blank text message to you shows on the screen.
----------------------------------------
A few days have passed since Lucifer returned. He managed to fix his relationship with Chloe, though she told him it's now strictly partnership and friends, which pleases him.
Lucifer - 1 Dad - 0
Now the problem was you. Lucifer has been trying to contact you the whole time. You never acknowledged his texts or calls. Somehow, you've even managed to avoid him at the precinct.
There was only one place left Lucifer thought to go where you'd definitely be.
"Hello!" One of the receptionists at the Circle of Life #2 greets Lucifer as he walks in, "How can I help you?"
"Hello, my dear!" He leans on the counter and flashes the receptionist his charming smile, "Is your boss in?"
"She is, do you have an appointment with her?" She starts to blush under his gaze.
"Not precisely, but I need to have a word with her. Would you mind directing me to her office?"
"Oh, I'm sorry sir, but I'm not-"
"Come now, darling." He leans more in and with his height, he easily manages to be near her face, "Surely you can bend the rules for me."
"I…" The poor woman is trapped under his gaze.
"Lucifer!"
Lucifer rolls his eyes in annoyance and stands straight. The receptionist was just about to stand and take him to you.
His annoyance disappears when he turns and sees who called him, "Ah! My dear Alice!" He opens his arms wide in shock then walks to her.
Alice eyes him, "Why are you here, Lucifer? You don't have a pet."
"Not of the animal kind." He winks at her. Alice rolls her eyes, but Lucifer catches that interest in her body, "May I please speak with K9?" He smiles.
"Earth doesn't want to see you, Lucifer. She specifically told me-"
"Alice Alice Alice~" He sing-songs her name and steps into her personal bubble. He takes her hand and holds it up, "You're a good friend to K9, aren't you?"
Alice can't speak. Her eyes are trapped in his and her face is beat red. She nods.
"Of course you are! You see, I'd like to still be good friends with her too. That's why I'm here, to make it up to her. Surely there's no harm in that?" He smiles innocently at her. He watches her throat move as she swallows.
She finds her voice, "Y-yeah."
"Wonderful!" He gives the top of her hand a kiss, "Can you please lead me to her then?"
Alice closes her eyes and sighs, knowing she's lost. She pulls her hand away and motions for Lucifer to follow.
She takes him through the back doors where other veterinarians and nurses work on computers and samples. Some animals are back here getting weighed or blood samples, and Lucifer has to hold his breath from all the different animal scents.
Finally, Alice stops at a white door and knocks. Lucifer hears your voice on the other side and can't help the smile that spreads across his face.
"Don't hate me," Alice says as she cracks the door open slightly and sticks her head in.
You look at her questionably, "Why would I-"
"Hellooo K9~!" Lucifer pushes the door fully open with his long arms behind Alice. Your face instantly turns into a frown. Alice shrugs helplessly and runs away.
"Get out."
"But I just got here!" Lucifer whines. He shuts your door and sits on one of the chairs in front of you. He crosses his legs and stares smugly at you.
You sigh loudly. You close your eyes and rub your temples, "Why are you here, Lucifer?"
"To get back in your good graces, of course." You put your arms down and stare at him. Getting the hint that you aren't going to say anything he continues, "I meant what I said, K9. I truly didn't mean to hurt you. Had I known I would have told you I was fine."
Lucifer uncrosses his legs and leans forward, "But please understand my side, K9. After seeing the Detective almost die I-" he pauses and you watch him swallow. Your face softens slightly, "I just had to get away for a bit. Yes, I didn't handle it correctly. I know that now. K9 all this, these friends, it's a new concept to me."
He stands up and comes around your desk to stand next to you. You don't turn your chair, but you do turn your body towards him. His eyes look pleading:
"Please, darling. How can I make it up to you?"
You stare at him, studying him. He looks truly sorry and distraught, and you have to admit to yourself you missed him.
But just as you are about to speak your cell phone rings. You look away from him to answer it.
It's Miller. The ASPCA found another dog ring.
You hang up and look up at Lucifer, "Alright, Lucifer. Come with me to this case to help out, then maybe I'll forgive you."
"I accept!" Lucifer's face beams of joy as you stand. You hang up your lab coat and Lucifer opens the door for you.
"Meet me at the precinct." You say to him as you head to your car.
"Yes ma'am!"
----------------------------------------
When you arrive at the precinct you change into your K9 uniform while Miller gathers up a team. Lucifer agrees to ride in your vehicle to the location where the ASPCA officials were waiting.
While driving you fill him in on the situation, "The ASPCA has been hunting a man named Roberto Alejandro for almost a year now. He's responsible for the largest dogfighting ring this state has had in a long time. They've never been able to catch his trail until it's too late. Somehow he seems to stay one step ahead."
"Hmm." Lucifer's looking out the window. You grip the steering wheel, thinking he's not listening.
"This may not be a homicide, Lucifer, but it's damn well important to me. At least act like you're interested."
He looks over to you, both eyebrows raised in shock, "I apologize, K9. It's true I'm not used to this type of case, but I am listening. I promise." You look at him and nod. Then focus back on the road.
"It does astonish me, however, that a man responsible for a dog ring is able to hide so well from two forces." He says.
"Yeah, me too, and I have a theory on that but I'll explain it later." You turn into a run-down looking neighborhood and continue, "Once wind of me being back in LA was heard the leader of the ASPCA contacted me about this case. Within the first two weeks, I was able to get more information than they could in months."
"Really?" Lucifer gives you an impressed smile, "What's your secret, K9?"
You fidget slightly, "You'll think I'm crazy."
"You're talking to the Devil, dear."
You scoff, "Right. Well, better to show first then explain."
The two of you arrive at the scene where the rest of your team is, along with an entourage of ASPCA men and women. You both exit the car and walk to Miller who's talking to one of the officers.
"What's the status?" You ask Miller.
"The ASPCA managed to catch a dog fight while it was happening in that building." He points to the decrypted brick house. Perfect place for crimes and criminals to hide, "When they charged in they managed to capture two of Roberto's men. Report says they saw him too, but he got away."
"Of course he did. At least we saw him now." You look at the ASPCA's kennel vehicles, "Any dogs saved?"
"The two that were currently fighting were shot down. However, we did find a room with more dogs in cages, five in total. One of the dogs belongs to one of the men they caught."
"Alright." You nod, "I'm heading in for them. I'll radio you when it's good to get them." You and Lucifer walk to the building, but Miller stops Lucifer.
"She does this alone, sir."
Lucifer raises a brow at him, but you step in before he can say anything, "It's alright, Miller. I told him to come with me."
"Shouldn't he at least have a bulletproof vest on?" He questions you.
"Oh, I don't need one of those silly things. I'm immortal." Lucifer says nonchalantly.
"Says the man who's been shot multiple times." You remark.
"While with the Detective, yes, but only with her. She makes me vulnerable. She's not here, however, so I'm 100% immortal." He says to you. You and Miller share a look. You end up shrugging and go along with it.
"Is it normal for you to expect being shot on this kind of case?" Lucifer asks as you both enter the building and head up the stairs.
"Only this one. There have been a few times where we thought the place was abandoned, then ended up in a firefight."
"Have you ever been shot, K9?" The worry in Lucifer's tone makes you look back at him.
You give him a small smile, "Not yet."
"Well, I'll make sure it remains that way."
"You can't always be with me, Lucifer."
"Beg to differ, darling."
You just shake your head at him, smile still on your face. You arrive at the door to the room with the dogs inside. Already you could hear whining and growling.
"Just stay quiet and keep to the door, alright?" You look back at Lucifer with your hand on the handle. He nods and you open the door.
Instantly the dogs start to bark and growl. Lucifer stays by the door while you walk a bit further into the room. You slowly raise your hands in surrender and continue to walk closer while the barking slowly dies to growls. You pick a dog to go to and slowly walk to their cage. Hands still raised, you kneel in front of the cage a few feet away.
"Hey, I'm not going to hurt you." You whisper to the dog.
The dog eyes you. It's a pit bull with awful scars across its face.
Lie...humans…hurt
The pit growls at you menacingly, but still takes a step back into the cage.
"I'm not like the humans you're used to. I help and heal. No hurting." You slowly put your hands down and take a small step closer. The dog takes another step back, "Can you tell me your name?"
...Killer…
You hold in your scoff. That name was very common among the dogs you've saved, "Well Killer, can you tell me anything about these humans who mistreat you and the others?" You take one step closer and Killer takes one back, but he's reached the end of his tiny cage.
….No…
"You still don't trust me. How about I give you this," you hold out a treat, "and let you out of your cage? You can attack me and I won't fight back."
He doesn't answer. You place the treat through the cage. It takes a few minutes, but Killer comes up to the cage door and eats it. As he's eating you slowly reach out to the lock on the door. You open it quickly and brace yourself to get bit, like usual.
But the dog just cowers back into the cage.
What?
"I have to say, I'm a bit surprised." You say.
….Bad….worse than humans….
You raise a brow at him, but notice he's not looking at you.
He's looking behind you. At Lucifer.
You look back at him to see if he's doing anything to upset the dog, but Lucifer is just staring at you curiously. His hands are in his pockets and he's leaning against the door. Not threatening at all.
I trust...if...make evil leave…
You look curiously back at the dog, but nod and obey the wish, "Hey, Lucifer." You look behind you once more. He raises a brow at you, "I need you to step out of the room."
"What?" He's confused now, "Why?"
You look back at the dogs and notice that they are all as far back in their cage as they can get when Lucifer spoke.
Odd…
"I'm not sure why," you look back at Lucifer, "but these dogs seem to be wary of you."
Lucifer scoffs loudly, "Of course they are. I'll be outside. Better that way." He says, annoyed. You want to stop him but he's already out of the door.
----------------------------------------
Sometime after Lucifer left the room you gained the dogs’ trust. You warn them that more humans are about to come in to take them inside a vehicle, where they'll then arrive at a building to receive treatment. You radioed Miller and it took an hour to just get the five dogs out of the building and into ASPCA hands. After talking to the head of the case about what you learned and telling your team to head back to the precinct you looked for Lucifer.
He's leaning against the hood of your car smoking a cigarette. His look is far off.
"Hey." You walk up to him.
The far off look in his eyes changes instantly when he looks at you, "Job well done, K9?"
"Seems like." You smile, then you give him a concerned look, "You ok?"
"Perfectly." He flicks the cigarette on the ground and stomps on it. As he's getting inside the passenger side you roll your eyes and pick up the bud. You enter your car and stick the bud in the cup holder to be discarded later.
Lucifer just looks at you. You shrug, "Don't condone littering." He laughs at you then stares out the window as you drive off.
After 10 minutes of silence, Lucifer finally asks that question you've been treading, "You understand animals?"
You take a quick side look at him expecting to see a look like he thought you were crazy, but that's not what you see. He looks genuinely curious and interested.
Still, it takes you a moment to find the courage to answer truthfully, "...Yeah, sort of."
"That explains why your clinic over in New York has such amazing reviews." He's smiling like he's incredibly happy to be let in on your little secret.
"You looked up my clinic?"
"Of course. I told you I'm interested to learn more about you, K9."
You're silent for a long time, "You're not going to tell anyone right?"
He looks at you questionably, "Why wouldn't I?"
"Because people will think I'm crazy and I'll lose all my business."
"Have people told you you're crazy before?"
Memories of being in multiple foster homes flood through. You remember all those looks the families gave you whenever you talked to a stray cat or wild animal. Then the image of a bright burning light from a lamp blinds you.
"Yeah." You say with no emotion, "All the time."
"Well, I don't think you're crazy. In fact, you've made me even more interested." He smiles flirtatiously at you.
You roll your eyes, but smirk, "Oh great."
The rest of the drive is you two having basic chatter. You ask him if he'd like to come over for dinner, as a thank you for coming.
"Does this mean you forgive me, K9?" His smile is so contagious. You smile back and playfully hit his chest.
You arrive at the apartment complex. You and Lucifer take the elevator up to your floor and head for your door.
"It's not usual that I'm this excited to be invited to a woman's home, especially knowing we won't be doing the dirty." He wiggles his eyebrows at you, "Or is that my real thank you?"
You laugh as you unlock the door, "Definitely not."
You open your door and step inside with Lucifer close behind. He notices you taking off your shoes and putting them on the shoe rack to the right. Respectfully he does the same.
"I'm going to take a quick shower first. That house was too damn humid." You say touching your sticky face, "Make yourself at home!" You disappear into your bedroom. Lucifer takes the time to explore your space.
It's tiny. More like a loft apartment. As soon as you walk through the door you can practically see the entire space. About five feet from the door is the kitchen island. The kitchen has a decent amount of cabinets. All white with silver handles, the countertops marble. Behind the bar stools under the kitchen island is the living room. You have a grey "c" shaped couch that's cluttered with pillows, along with a large quilt blanket hanging off the back. Lucifer walks past the living room to see that you have a step up to your bedroom like his penthouse. The difference is you have hidden sliding doors to separate the bedroom from the rest of the space. To his left, he saw a door leading out to a small balcony that can also be accessed from the bedroom. The balcony is littered with pots of flowers, as well as vegetables.
He smiles to himself. You did say you loved to garden.
He steps up into your bedroom to take a quick look around. To the right is a door that he assumes lead to the only bathroom. Next to that is two double mirror doors that he guesses is your closet.
"Well that's fun." He can't stop himself from whispering that comment.
Your bed looks to be a queen size. The bedsheets are various colors of green, and much like your couch, your bed is also cluttered with pillows. The bed frame is black wrought iron with an abstract design of a tree with leaves as the headboard. The base is the same design, but as just vines with leaves.
Lucifer bites his lip. He can't help himself. The design choices in your room are giving him way too many ideas.
He leaves your room and sits on your couch, after moving many pillows. He goes for the tv remote, but notices an opening in your coffee table. He messes with it and the top lifts up, it's one of those coffee table/eating tray sets. It makes sense for you to have one since there's no room for a proper dining set.
He notices something down inside the coffee table. He reaches in and gets a hold of various papers. He leans back and looks through them.
His eyes turn red and his blood boils at the words on the papers.
----------------------------------------
It's 30 minutes later by the time you exit the shower. You quickly dry off and comb your hair. You opt out of wearing your pjs. Instead, you put on a plain colored t-shirt and black leggings.
"Alright, what are you interested in for food?" You say out loud as you exit the bathroom and place the dirty clothes in your hamper. When you hear no response you walk to the living room.
You freeze at the top of your bedroom steps. Lucifer is holding the papers you kept hidden.
He looks at you angrily, but you can tell that the anger is more directed at the papers than you. He lifts them up in one hand and says in an aggressive voice you've not heard from him yet:
"Who's threatening you?"

His quiet whispers - Part Two
Paring: Lucifer/Reader; Lucifer/OFC
Summary:  “Lucifer”, she moaned, soft trembling hands caressing his face and petting his hair. Yes, yes, he thought, half incoherent with lust, that's what he needed from her, what the wanted - to spend the night wrapped in her arms, to be the center of her undivided attention. No games or toys or roleplays, no nothing but gentle touches and breathy moans of his name.

Lucifer stood next to Dan, observing the interrogation room without knowing of which mood to settle in.
The Detective was interviewing his past lovers for the new case, in an attempt to find the murderer of poor Jana and Raj. He didn't believe that one of the beautiful men and women occupying the precinct at the moment had done anything of the kind, but still. He had actually been hoping that the Detective would change her mind about him if she heard a bunch of very satisfied ex-lovers sing his praises - and they did just that, however. However he certainly hadn't expected all of them to say that their night with him had been completely meaningless. He hadn't expected to feel used - which was ridiculous, mind, because he had always been delighted to be used for sex. And worst of all, he was mortally offended that Detective Douche had started giving him pitying looks after a while. Unacceptable, really. He scoffed. These human feelings...He blamed it all on the Detective. He needed to stop thinking about her for a while - her referring to their almost-kiss as a “big mistake” still stung everytime it came to mind.
The thing went on for a while, with Lucifer offering unwanted details to Dan about his many sexscapades - “I'm not making any of this up, Daniel, thank you very much” - and Chloe getting more and more frustrated with their lack of leads for the case. Oh and, you know, people giving the same answer over and over: no, it had meant nothing, it was just sex. There was nothing “just” about sex to him.
Then she entered the room, visibly nervous, and sat down in front of the Detective. A swarm of memories passed through his mind, from her sitting alone at the bar to her sprawled out on his piano, to her taste and smell and sounds. Roughly a month and a half had passed since the last time he saw her. That one had been a...uncharacteristically wholesome night, for his standards. As wholesome as a night of sex could be, anyway. He certainly wasn't excited to hear her say how it had been completely meaningless for her.
She was dressed more conservatively than some of the women who preceded her, but still very lovely in her high-waisted jeans and blouse. She crossed her legs and he was reminded for a second how actually stunning she was naked. He zoned in on the conversation when Chloe asked her the first question. “So, can you describe to me how the night with Lucifer went? In broad details, please”, she was quick to add. The girl laughed softly, embarrassed, and shifted awkwardly on her seat. “Well, it was an amazing night. Oh, and morning. You-uh, you actually saw me leaving his penthouse.” Chloe nodded in recognition and gestured her to go on. “Lucifer is very passionate and attentive - honestly, it was like he came out of a wet dream, I don't know how else to describe it. It was the best night of my life.” She was smiling secretively, like she had just gotten away with something. It was adorable. Lucifer preened at her words and turned to Dan to wiggle his eyebrow, but the detective just rolled his eyes. “Yeah, man, I've been hearing this over and over for the past two hours. It stopped being impressive a while ago.” He made a disgusted face. “It's just overkill at this point.” Lucifer chuckled and brought his attention back to the questioning. “I remember meeting you. Didn't it bother you that he basically kicked you out the morning after? Some could say, he used you for sex”, the Detective was asking, trying to get a reaction from the girl. She frowned. “He didn't kick me out, he was a gentleman. I didn't want to overstay my welcome so I...saw myself out.” He would have loved to have her for breakfast. He would have loved to have her for breakfast and then fucked her on the piano one last time. He shook his head, watching her blush and play with one of her bracelets. Too bad she had decided to leave before that could happen. “Okay, let's say I believe you. What about the fact the he was sleeping with a different woman the day after? Did that bother you?” She lifted her gaze from the table, confused at the line of questioning. Lucifer clenched his jaw, reading himself to hear for the upteenth time the who-cares-about-him speech. “I don't understand what you're trying to make me say, Detective. That I was so upset about that, I killed someone? I don't-it's not like he cheated on me or something. Why would I do that?” “So what you mean is,” Chloe said, arching an eyebrow, “that that night meant nothing?” The girl stumbled over her words, diverted her eyes. “I wouldn't say that” she admitted, voice small. Oh, Lucifer thought. Oh, that's nice to hear for a change. His spirits lifted. Detective Douche huffed a sardonic “congrats, man” beside him, living up to his Satan-given name. Chloe straightened on her chair, interested picked. “Believe it or not, you're the first one to say that today.” The girl leaned toward her, desperate to be believed. “Listen,” she started, “Listen, I have seen him naked and he has been inside of me. It's-it's not wired into my brain to not care about him after that. To not be...fond of Lucifer. There you go, I'm fond of him, alright?” She put one hand in her hair, frustrated. “Which is stupid, because I've seen him like once, and yet…But that doesn't mean I would kill two other people just because they had sex with him!” A warm feeling settled in his stomach at her words. Fond of him, uh? Nice. Very nice. He knew already she was lovely, all trembling hands and blushes that spread down to her chest, and now he also had to thank her for restoring his faith in one-night stands. He had left an impression. He would gladly leave an impression all over her, actually, if she let him, whenever she wanted - and honestly, how come she didn't swing by Lux again in the past month and a half? He thought he had made her feel thoroughly welcome last time.
He bit his bottom lip and leaned against the one-way mirror, observing her figure on the other side and letting his mind wander. What do you desire?, he would ask her, because he hadn't needed to last time, and he would make whatever came out of her trembling lips a reality. Then the Detective also briefly entered the fantasy - of course she did, the two women were sitting next to each other and they were both gorgeous, that was all he needed (“Caveman”, would have accused him Chloe if she could read his thoughts). But thinking about the Detective brought back the pain of her rejection, so he let his mind drift back to safer shores.
Daniel must have noticed his fantasizing, because he left the room with an disbelieving “Gross, dude”.
Maybe that's all I need to feel better, he mused to himself, to be reminded that someone cared. That someone whose name and desires he remembered clear as day, someone he had held in his arms for an entire night, thought of him fondly from time to time.
Lucifer refocused on the conversation before him, where the Detective was certainly getting more and more suspicious of the poor girl, considering her answers, and decided to come to her aid. He pressed the button on his right to let his voice through the other room. “Detective,” he said, “this girl is not our murder, I assure you. Let her go.” Seeing the expression of pure terror paint itself on the young woman's face when she realised he had been listening the whole time almost made him feel bad. Almost. He already a few ideas on how to make it up to her.
After all, he was the Devil.
***
Chloe finished off the questioning after a bit of convincing from Lucifer, who assured her again and again that the girl was innocent. “She just doesn't seem the type, Detective! I recognize people who deserve to be punished when I see them, and she is not one of them.” “Okay, well,” she said, “we'll be sure after you do your desire mojo thing on her. Just go ask.” And with a pat on his shoulder, she went off to get a coffee. Lucifer smoothed his hands down his perfectly tailored suit, and with a murmur of “Don't mind if I do”, he exited the room to go talk with her.
He found her after just one minute, signing some documents of sorts at a desk. The rest of his exes had already left the precinct. He approached her with two strides of his long legs, and like the first time she didn't notice him until he spoke. “Hi, love” he said, smiling cheekily at her. She gasped, startled, and let out a breathy “Jesus.” “Not quite, I'm afraid.” She chuckled and covered her face with one small, soft hand - he remembered how they felt; on his body, gripping his hair - to hide herself from him. His smile widened, turning almost predatorial before he could school it into something softer. He wouldn't want to scare her away, and she was already embarrassed the he had heard her confession. “I came by to say hi. Why are you the only one still here?”, he asked, genuinely confused. He thought he had convinced Chloe of her innocence, hadn't he? “Oh, they're just checking my alibi for two nights ago and yesterday. I, uh- I do have one, so I'm not worried.” She let her hand fall and finally looked at him, eyes big and worried. “You believe me, right? I didn't do anything.” His hands itched to smooth the wrinkle between her brows, but he resisted. He opted for stepping closer and resting his hips against the table, folding his arms just to make the muscles bulge underneath the suit and watch her eyes glaze over. “I didn't doubt it for a second, darling. I know how cold-blooded murderers look like, and you don't have it in you. I'm sure checking your alibi is just a mandatory step.” Well, maybe it wasn't, but a little white lie hardly counted as breaking his vow. He didn't like seeing her worried and tense. And, to his testament, she did relax a bit at his words. Not much, though. Lucifer added “massage” to the list of things he wanted to do to her. Using an over priced oil of her choice, perhaps. While straddling her legs, so he could slide his length on the cleft of her- He cleared his throat. He was getting ahead of himself. “You still seem tense, love. Can I help you with that?”, he drawled, voice an octave lower - he couldn't help it, arousal was already coursing slow in his veins, various memories of the night spent with her flashing in his mind. Like how close she had held him after he had come deep inside of her - and he needed that, he needed that today, he wanted to forget Chloe and how cold her eyes had been before the elevator doors closed in front of her... “No-no, I don't think so. I'm not even tense, no idea what you're talking about.” She stood up, realized she couldn't go away until a police officer gave her the okay, and sat down again. “You're right, where did I even get that idea from?” She looked up at him again from under her lashes, and he noticed with a pang to the stomach that her eyes were red and liquidy. “No, no, no need for any ofthat,” he said hurriedly, taking her soft hands in his to lift her from the chair. He stroked his thumb along her knuckles, a bit awkward. He wasn't used to comforting people. “I assure you, no one thinks you're the culprit! They'll let you go in a minute, no reason to be this stressed.” “No, no, it's not that”, she admitted, taking a deep breath to calm herself down. It seemed to have the opposite result, because she released it very shakily and swained on her feet for a second. She probably took a whiff of my cologne, he realised. She seemed to really like it last time. “Then what is it? The offer to help you relax is always valid, sweetheart.” “It's you”, she finished, voice small. “Oh?” “Yeah, I don't how to act around you. You're just- you're so- Ugh, whatever. You know how people react to you.” Both delighted and confused at her words, he cupped her cheek and stroked the soft skin there. He knew very well the magnetic pull that attracted people's attention on him, but no one has ever ever been frustrated about it before. Especially not gorgeous young women, and less so the ones who had already spent a night with him. “You don't need to act in any way, darling. And you seemed to be doing just fine last time you saw me. Care for a repeat? I'm sure it'll do wonders for your nerves.” “Yeah, about that...I-I didn't feel very good, after. I mean - the days after.” She was keeping her eyes low, refusing to look at him. He frowned. “I wasn't aware I had been too rough with you, darling, my apologies.” The girl chuckled nervously and began playing with the cufflinks at his wrists, seemingly unaware of be doing so. “No, that's not it. I wasn't great, uh... mentally.” “That's even worse!” he said, stepping closer to her. People who slept with him were supposed to leave his penthouse with a smile - and possibly keep it on for the next week - not feeling...what, guilty? Used?
That absolutely won't do, he thought, even more resolved to remedy the situation.
“It's not your fault,” she said, taking another half a step towards him. They were close enough to kiss at that point, and some police officers gave them dirty looks as they passed by. Or where they jealous looks? That was more probable. “I just don't usually sleep around, you know? You-you have definitely been an exception.” “Darling”, he said, and then he used her real name because she was still refusing to look at him. Her eyes snapped to his, and from then on she seemed unable to let his gaze go. “Just tell me, what can I can I do to remedy? What is it that you truly want?” He infused in the question more power than usual and let some of the red shine through his dark irises, just to see her lips fall open, just to see hear her gasp. “I- I just want to feel better. I want you to feel better.” “Make me feel better? Why do you say that?” he asked, his wicked smile melting into a confused expression. “I don't know Lucifer, you seem...subdued, today.” She shuffled on her feet, kept fiddling with his cufflinks. “Does it have to do with Detective Decker? You looked at her at all sad when you two were talking.”
He opened his mouth to answer, but closed it when he realized that if he talked he would have to say the truth. Which he didn't want to do at the moment, thank you very much. Talk about hitting the mark… “Okay, you know what?” he said after a second, bending down to kiss her lips. “You're right. We both obviously need to unwind, we might as well do it with each other. Come to Lux tonight, I'll tell the bouncer to let you in.” Another heated kiss, for good measure, and then he left her there without another word.
Hopefully he would see her again later.
***
Lucifer was kind of drunk.
Okay, very drunk. But it wouldn't last long, not with his his celestial metabolism or, or whatever it was that made him sober up so criminally quickly.
He had drank his way through a very expensive bottle of whisky in less than hour to reach the desired level of bloody-hell-why-is-the-room-spinning and he was trying to enjoy it while it lasted, thank you very much. The fact was- he stumbled is way to his stereo to put on some music- the fact was, he truly needed to stop thinking about the Detective for a while after an entire day spent pretending that her jabs at their moment didn't hurt. And the lovely girl he met again at the precinct hadn't arrived yet, maybe wouldn't for the rest of the night - and honestly, what was with women rejecting him all of a sudden? Were they all self-flagellating masochists? Unbelievable.
He downed another half glass of, what was it? Brandy? Who cared.
He spent some time just half singing-half mumbling to the songs reverberating through his penthouse, minutes blurring together. He eased on the drinking after a while, when he caught himself about to open a very expensive 11-year-old bottle of Bourbon that he would have downed without even tasting. That would have been too dramatic, even for his standards. He briefly considered taking a trip down to Lux, dance with strangers to some songs almost certainly containing the word “devil” - what, he had a whole theme going on, alright?- but really wasn't in the mood. And also, he realised with a glance down to his attire, he looked like a hot mess. Emphasis on the hot, but, still. He had a reputation to maintain, he couldn't jus-
The doors of his private elevator suddenly opened up, and a girl took a couple of hesitant steps into the penthouse. It was her. Oh, suddenly his evening didn't feel that pathetic and depressing anymore. He was going to have fun, he was going to enjoy himself and take his mind off of detectives he definitely wasn't in love with. “Uhm, Lucifer?”, she called out. She still hadn't seen him standing behind the bar. “Hello, darling. I'm quite happy to see you took up on my offer.” He put on his best wicked smile when she finally turned to him, but his heart wasn't in it. “Oh, hi”, she said, “I almost didn't, but you definitely made a compelling argument earlier today.” She tapped her index finger on her pretty, pink lips and then offered him a cheeky smile in return. Oh, right, he had kissed her at the precinct. How lovely that that was what had convinced her to come back. Lucifer felt his expression melt into something more genuine while he walked closer to her. “I can offer the same argument again, if you'd like. More thoroughly this time.” She already had a soft blush painting her cheeks red, eyes big and bright in the low lights of the apartment. When she nodded at him he didn't waste another second before bending down to kiss her.
Her lips were soft and had the taste of artificial strawberries, like she been sucking on a lollipop just minutes before. Or maybe it was the gloss she had on? Lucifer didn't know nor care, he just licked her bottom lip to get more of the flavour. She immediately opened up to him, and before he knew it the kiss had turned wet and passionate and oh so nice. She pressed him hard against the bar, body flush on his, and it was the hard edge of the table digging in his spine that brought him back to the present.
They were going too fast. At that rate, they would have been naked in a minute, and he would have been deep inside of her in another five, without even realising it. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing - how could it ever be, he thought, feeling her soft curves pressed against his chest. And she was awfully responsive to his touches, too, it wouldn't have taken much to have her ready and aching for him... But he wanted to take his sweet time, even more so than last time. To push himself to the limit before finally sliding into her tight heat.
Also, he was still a bit drunk. He needed to calm down before continuing.
Lucifer grudgingly broke off the kiss, and she followed his lips until even standing up on her toes wasn't enough to reach them. “Love,” he started, running his hands through her hair and down her back, “I can't believe I'm saying this, but - can we slow down?” She looked confused for a second, but then her expression cleared and she actually took a step back from him. “Yes, yes, of course. You - you distracted me!”, she accused him. “I did notice that you've been drinking. Are you feeling alright?” Not really. He deflected the question: “I just started the party a bit earlier, forgive me. Can I serve you a glass?” “No, I think you've had enough for the both of us.” She gestured to the half empty bottles and tumblers disseminated everywhere in the apartment. “How are you even still conscious?” “Oh please, I am almost sober again”, he scoffed. “The pros and cons of being the Devil, I'm afraid.” She laughed softly and tilted her head, as if to say fair enough, then started sinuously moving her body to the rhythm of the music still playing in the background. “How about we dance, then? I do love this song.” He tried to figure out which one it was, and after a few second he recognised that Ready for Love had started playing. A bit too on the nose, isn't it?, he thought. But it is very appropriate.
And who was him to refuse a pretty girl a dance?
He took her hand and led her away from the bar, and she swirled on her feet before ending up flush against him again. Her arms went around his neck, a hand caressing slowly the soft hair at the nape. A shiver run down his back at the tentative contact, and he couldn't help but leave a kiss on her forehead that made her smile.
In their defence, they did try to keep things chaste for a while. They moved around the room and sang along to the chorus of the song, Lucifer even chuckled in her hair when she whispered the “uuuh” part right in his ear. They danced, hand in hand, like it was appropriate at a high school prom; and then they shifted closer and moved slower, like he had done so many times on the Lux dance floor with other people. His hands kept stroking over the curve between her waist and hips; he could feel the ghost of her lips on his neck at every movement - and desire was still pooling in his stomach, hot and heavy, from the kiss they had shared before. Lucifer bent down to rest his head on the slope of her shoulder and slipped his fingers under the hem of the flowy dress she was wearing. He could feel how hard her heart was beating even through two layers of clothing, a fast tu-tum that had stolen the laughter from her voice when she whispered his name. Or maybe that was his hands’ fault, which were currently very busy palming her ass underneath the dress. He picked her up, then, because he wanted to feel her soft thighs snug around his waist - her cleavage right at eye level was just a bonus, really. She let out a surprised “oh” at the change in height and held on tight to his shoulders, but he barely noticed all her weight on him. He kept swaying on the spot in time with the music. “Lucifer, this is not dancing!” she giggled, “I'm supposed to be touching the ground.” - but she made no move to get out of his embrace. Bloody hell, she smelled lovely and was so warm… “Who made up all these boring rules?” he asked, then he pushed her hips against hers before she could answer. Slow, he thought, he didn't particularly want to go slow anymore - not when she was desperately kissing wherever her lips could reach, not when she was whimpering at the burn of his beard on her skin. He mouthed between the valley of her breasts, on her collarbones, up to the soft line of her neck and, fuck, he was already so hard he couldn't think straight. He kept walking until they softly hit the back of the sofa, and he sat her on top before licking his way across her neck and to her mouth. He kissed her hard - bit her bottom lip, sucked on her tongue, tried his damn hardest until her eyes were rolling back in her head and her heels pressed insistently on his ass and thighs. Lucifer didn't know how long they kept grinding against each other like that, some other sultry rock song playing in the background, but after a while he felt her hands abandon their place under his shirt to push him back a little. “Please,” she said, hopping off of the sofa. One strap of her dress was hanging low on arm, revealing the lovely absence of a bra underneath. “Please, let me, let me-” and then she was sinking on her knees in front of him, mouthing on his cock through his pants with her eyes half closed. He moaned her name, the syllables thumbling out of him in a low rumble and- and he thought he would get to undress her first, to feel her wet and hot and quivering around his fingers, but. But she was already unzipping his trousers and sliding both those and his boxers down to his ankles, freeing him of his shoes to take them completely off. How could he say no now.
He remembered how it felt when she did this the last time. The heat of her mouth had woken him up in the middle of the night, when he thought she had been too exhausted to do anything more. Still in the phase between sleep and consciousness, and with pleasure waves coursing fast through his veins, he had just let himself lay there and be her personal buffet. It hadn't been a hurdle at all. He remembered being delighted by her eagerness; her every kiss, lick and caress so obviously saying thank you for the fantastic night and also I'm putting my heart and soul into this, I hope you noticed. Oh, he had noticed. He had shown his appreciation profusely the morning after, in the shower.
He came back to the present when she took him in her mouth, curling her tongue around the head. He didn't stop the breathy gasp of her name from coming out; to encourage her, to let her know her know he was enjoying himself. That seemed to have the desired effect of making her more confident, because she even risked a glance up of her big, bright eyes, already teary - image that Lucifer was sure, without doubt, he would have had impressed behind his eyelids for days. She continued her ministrations on him and his hand went to the back of her head without him controlling it - not to force her forward but just to hold the hair off of her face, just to pass his thumb on the bottom lip wrapped around him. The other hand was holding on the top of the sofa, knuckles white with the strength behind it. Then he saw her dainty, clever fingers slip under her dress and the vibration of her moan right after sent a shock of pleasure through all his body, so strong he almost broke the couch in an attempt not to thrust in her mouth. “Alright, love, that's enough.” he was quick to say, sliding out of her and bringing her up to her feet. He was not going to cum before this lovely, gorgeous girl was half delirious and blissfully naked, thank you very much. “Uhm, alright, 'm sorry. Did I do something wrong?” she asked, worried and embarrassed and a whole series of things that no one who was having sex with him should have felt, ever. “A bit too well, actually,” he reassured her, kissing the taste of him right out of her lips. “Oh, really?” She eyed his straining erection, wet with saliva and pre-cum, with a self-satisfied half smile. “Oh, you little minx,” he drawled, voice rough with arousal, “you're proud, aren't you? Come here.” Lucifer picked her up with one arm around her legs and the other immediately went to unzip the dress that she was, for some obscure reason, still wearing. He went around the sofa in two long strides, and sat down on it with her on his lap. He spread his legs a bit more to make her slide towards him and she settled right against his cock, her finally naked chest at the perfect height for Lucifer to take one of her nipples in his mouth and generally suck marks wherever his lips could reach. “Lucifer”, she moaned, soft trembling hands caressing his face and petting his hair. Yes, yes, he thought, half incoherent with lust, that's what he needed from her, what the wanted - to spend the night wrapped in her arms, to be the center of her undivided attention. No games or toys or roleplays, no nothing but gentle touches and breathy moans of his name. “It's my turn now, it's my turn…” he murmured against her breasts, and moved his hand between their bodies to touch her over the lacy barely-there thing she had put on. She was soaked, dripping, really, and so hot that his brain short-circuited for a second. He experimentally pushed two fingers in, as deep as the fabric of the panties permitted. “Oh my God, you're such a tease, please-ah!” He had taken one of her nipples between his teeth in retaliation. “No need to bring him into this”, he chastised her, but he couldn't help soothing the soft bite with a kiss. He hooked his index finger in the underwear and pushed it to the side, unwilling to take off something so pretty that contrasted deliciously with her skin colour. Lucifer pushed in again, this time without anything between him and her, and lost himself in the wet heat of her - even more so when her own hand sneaked down to take him in her soft palm.
She felt feverishly hot everywhere he was touching, but he knew it was him who was positively burning, almost scaringly so if she had the presence of mind to notice. Usually, during normal circumstances, he tried to keep his temperature under control; but when he was in bed with another, mind clouded with lust, he let some of the Hell fire shine behind his closed eyes, burn through his skin - and why bother to hide it, really, why resist, when they all seemed to like it so much? Lucifer, Lucifer, they all repeated, his name replacing his Father's on their lips, come closer, closer, I want to feel you…
She was almost there, he could feel it in the quivering of her thighs and in the urgency of her kisses. He kept rubbing his thumb against her clit in wide circles and he couldn't wait, he couldn't wait to feel her desperately clump around his fingers, couldn't wait for her to hold him tight until she could breath again and then some more after. The thought had him lick a hot strip on her neck, up to her ear. “Darling, you feel incredible. Cum for me, I know you're close, just let go.” “No, no, wait-” she started, and he was so surprised by the reaction he let her move away from his fingers. Disappointment coiled in his stomach; he almost whined as she slapped his hand away when he tried to touch her again. He wanted her to get off so bad. “Inside, I want you inside first”, she explained, and she laughed softly at the offended expression on his face. “We would have done that in a minute, love, no need to deny yourself an orgasm!” “I'm not denying myself anything, and I swear, if you don't get in inside me right now I might cry.” “But-” She raised his face up to hers with her index and thumb slightly pressing into his cheeks. “Lucifer, please, just be a good boy and fuck me.” The words died in his throat. Well. Well. He could be a good boy if she wanted. He could be the best. She seemed surprised at her own forwardness. “I-I don't know where that came from, sor-”, but he was already taking a hold of her waist and pushing his hips up, sliding into her in one long stroke that left both of them breathless. “Like this, love?” he asked, moving in and out of her slowly and deeply like she had so much enjoyed last time. He hoped she would say the words again, hoped she would sing his praise right in ear, so he could feel that warm feeling again. She started moving on her own, meeting his thrusts midway and undulating her hips in a maddening eight-shape motion. “Oh, Lucifer, yes-” She attached her mouth on his neck, and as usual he found himself sorry that she couldn't leave a mark. “Like this, don't stop. You're amazing, you're so good for me.” “Thank you”, he answered, really meaning it, not caring if his playboy smooth-talking persona was slipping a little. His head fell back at a particularly hard push, expecting to find the sofa and meeting only air, but he couldn't find it in him to raise it again. She noticed, because of course she did, and put both hands on the nape of his neck to support him. “Better?”, she managed to ask, while still bouncing up and down on his cock. It was such a sweet thing to do in the middle of sex, so tender, and it reminded him why he had wanted to spend the night with her and no one else- and she needed to cum like yesterday, why hadn't he reduced her to a mumbling mess already?, that was frankly criminal now that the thought about it…
Lucifer doubled his efforts, doing everything with his hands and mouth that he knew she liked (also trying some other things from his own repertoire), and finally, for his pleasure almost as much as hers, she came with his name on her lips.
“Brilliant. Once more now, for good luck”, he said while she was still recovering, and manoeuvred them around until he was flat on the sofa with her lying right over him, her back on his chest.
***
She was running a foot up and down his calf, caressing him however she could while still lying on top of his chest.
The weight of her was comforting, so he didn't change position despite her worries of weighing too much for him to be comfortable (“Too much?” Please, love, you offend me.)
They were both sated and very satisfied, basking in the afterglow for as long as they could. She seemed pensive, tough. “A penny for your thoughts?”, he asked, and left a kiss in her hair. “I was thinking…” “Yes?” “I was thinking that you should definitely put a mirror on the ceiling. Like, it would have a been so hot to watch you fuck me in this position.” He laughed, startled, because he wasn't expecting that at all from her. Still drunk on the endorphines, then, he thought. He knew her to be way more shy than this. “I can see the appeal”, he conceded. She turned her head to kiss him as best she could - her lips ended up on the corner of his mouth, but he didn't mind at all. “About about you? Do you feel better?” He thought about it, trying to figure it out himself. “You know, I think I do.” He felt less...hollow. He didn't know how long it would last, nor when the Detective's “She stopped me from making a big mistake” would come back to haunt him - but for now, he was well. “I'm glad”, she said, with a lot of warmth in her voice. “Help me turn, I want to- ah, thanks. Hello.” She was still lying on him, but with the added benefit of her soft breasts pressing against his chest. He kept his eyes fixed on them just to make her blush. “I hope you're feeling alright, too, love. Yes?” He didn't like at all the thought of her leaving happy and then being miserable the days after - he still didn't quite understand why that had happened last time. “Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm fine this time,” she reassured him, offering him a gentle smile and a caress on his cheekbone. “I guess I just needed to see what you would do if you saw me again. That night...I don't think I'll ever forget it. And I was afraid you wouldn't even remember my name, you know?” He squeezed her waist. “I remember everything”, he told her, and he hoped she understood how important it was for him the she believed me. “Yeah, I noticed. You-you really are a gentleman, Lucifer. You're wonderful, I hope you get told often.” Hardly ever, actually, not outside of sex. He refused to blush. “You're not so bad yourself.” He winked and gave her his best come-fuck-me smile, trying to shift the dangerously emotional atmosphere into something more playful. “So, how about a shower together? We could make it a tradition.” She groaned and the proposition, which was fair considering how much he has exhausted her - but it didn't take much to convince her, anyway.

Warnings: Swearing
----------------------------------------
"Last one, I promise." You rub the pup's head and she licks your face in trust.
"Yeah! Poor girl whines at it everytime we pass by." The wife laughs and kisses her pup's nose.
"I bet. You've got a real energetic one here." You laugh and gather your paperwork, "Well, hopefully I won't have to see you till next year! Have fun little one." The pup puts her paws on your shoulders and gives you a lick. The husband then puts her harness and leash back on.
Bye….nice….play time!
"Well, was hoping it was him so you could stop stressing." She shrugs.
"I'm not stressing over him." You lie, and by Alice's eye roll she knows it too.
Lucifer Morningstar has been gone from LA for nearly two weeks. Everyone, even Dan, had been trying to contact him since Chloe found his penthouse laid in white sheets.
They give you two a lead into a possible suspect: a woman named Courtney who was Ash's ex-wife, and according to the female of the band Courtney was bossy and violent. You two return to the precinct to meet up with Dan and Ella.
You half sit on Chloe's desk and drink from your bottle of water as Chloe tells the two what they learned.
"That girl's name has popped up around here before," Dan says, "She's known for being abusive in her relationships."
Unlike Ella and Dan, you give Lucifer a barely audible grunt of acknowledgement.
She has wavy blond hair with pink streaks running through. She puts an arm in the crook of Lucifer's elbow, and looks up at him with big brown eyes.
What. The. Fuck.
----------------------------------------
"LUCIFER."
You storm out of the elevator and yell for him. Your nostrils were flaring and your hands were balled into tight fists.
"LUCIFER!" You yell again, "GET OUT HERE!"
"Oh!" You hear a familiar squeak and look to the couch to see Candy pulling out earbuds. She was lounging on the couch, feet up on the coffee table. Her high heels laid on the floor.
Uhhh...
"You're K9, right?!" Candy expertly puts on her heels and skips over to you, "I've been so excited to meet you!" She giggles and hugs you.
Well this feels awkward.
Whaaat.
The look of complete confusion on your face makes Lucifer burst out laughing. You turn your attention to him, furious again, "What the hell is going on, Lucifer?!"
"Right right. Well," he takes the two steps down from his bedroom, "After the whole fiasco a couple weeks ago I went to Las Vegas and met the lovely Candy who stands before you." You look at Candy and she gives you a small shrug and smile with a wave, "I helped her out with her family business and in return she agreed to marry me." He smiles at you like that clears everything up while he straightens his cufflinks.
If it hadn't been obvious to you already, I don't let anyone push me into anything." The slight growl he had at the end of his sentence made you shiver, even though you suspect it wasn't aimed at you since he looked up.
"Fine. But, why didn't you tell anyone?"
"Well that would ruin Candy's-"
"No, Lucifer. That's not what I'm asking about." Your hands return back into fists, "Why didn't you tell anyone you were fine?"
Lucifer just stares at you and it's making it hard for you to breath, "I realize that now, which is why I'm trying to fix our partnership. But," he puts a palm to the side of your face to push your eyes back to his, "I didn't mean to scare anyone. Not the Detective. Not you." His thumb caresses under your left eye and you can feel that some pull from before, in the hospital.
But you were still hurt.
You step away from him, "Yeah, well you did. Better get going before you're late. That definitely won't help you win her back." You turn away from him and head for the elevator.
"K9-"
"I don't want to hear it-" You step inside the elevator when the doors open and end up bumping into someone.
"And the woman who payed off one of K9's possible murderer's bail." Lucifer replies back with the same tone.
Come on, mom!" Candy pulls Charlotte into the elevator, and you can't help the smirk that appears when you see Charlotte's look.
Still staring at the elevator you continue, "Why am I the 'only one your not worried about'?"
He looks at you, "Because you're-", he stops, then faces the elevator, "You're just not. That's all."
You grunt and cross your arms, "Great explanation, Lucifer."
"K9, I-"
"Why don't you tell Chloe?" You cut in again.
He doesn't answer, and that makes your skin start to boil.
"You're tricking her too?" You look at him with fire in your eyes.
"Not...precisely."
"What the hell is going on with you?!" You face him now, "You two just got together! I thought-"
"Yes well, so did I." Now he cuts you off and faces you. You can't read whatever that emotion was in his eyes, "Her and I were meant to be, which means it can't be."
"What."
But he just shakes his head and whispers, "You wouldn't believe me anyways. No point in trying to explain it."
"Well what I do understand is-" you shove him, hard, "Is that you're too much of a chicken shit to just tell her.
She's halfway into the open car door when she stops and looks back at him.
"Just curious...what's the deal with you and K9?"
Lucifer just chuckles and looks away.
Candy gets the hint, "I get it." She raises a hand, "None of my business, but if I were you Lucifer I wouldn't mess that up." He looks back to her, and with a small smile he nods. Candy goes into the car fully and he shuts the door. He watches the car drive into the street and away.
"I hope I haven't." He looks up at his building, then down at his phone where a blank text message to you shown on the screen.
----------------------------------------
A few days have passed since Lucifer returned. He managed to fix his relationship with Chloe, though she told him it's now strictly partnership and friends, which pleases him.
Lucifer 1 - Dad - 0
Now the problem was you. Lucifer had been trying to contact you the whole time. You never acknowledged his texts or calls. Somehow, you've even managed to avoid him at the precinct.
There was only one place left Lucifer thought to go where you'd definitely be.
"Hello!" One of the receptionists of the Circle of Life #2 greets Lucifer as he walks in, "How can I help you?"
"Hello, my dear!" He leans on the counter and flashes the receptionist his charming smile, "Is you boss in?"
"She is, do you have an appointment with her?" She starts to blush under his gaze.
"Not precisely, but I need to have a word with her. Would you mind directing me to her office?"
"Oh, I'm sorry sir, but I'm not-"
"Come now, darling." He leans in more, and with his height he easily manages to be near her face, "Surely you can bend the rules for me."
"I…" The poor woman is trapped under his gaze.
"Lucifer!"
Lucifer rolls his eyes in annoyance and stands straight. The receptionist was just about to stand and take him to you.
His annoyance disappears when he turns and sees who called him.
"Ah! My dear Alice!" He opens his arms wide in shock then walks to her.
She eyes him, "Why are you here, Lucifer? You don't have a pet."
"Not of the animal kind." He winks at her.
Alice rolls her eyes, but Lucifer catches that interest in her eyes and body.
"May I please speak with K9?" He smiles.
"Earth doesn't want to see you, Lucifer. She specifically told me-"
"Alice alice alice~" He sing songs her name and steps into her personal bubble.
She takes him through the back doors where other veterinarians and nurses worked on computers and samples. Some animals were back here getting weighed or blood samples, and Lucifer had to hold his breath from all the different animal scents.
Finally, Alice stops at a white door and knocks. Lucifer hears your voice on the other side and can't help the smile that spreads across his face.
"Don't hate me." Alice says as she cracks the door open slightly and sticks her head in.
You look at her questionably, "Why would I-"
"Hellooo K9~!" Lucifer pushes the door fully open with his long arms behind Alice. Your face instantly turns to a frown.
Getting the hint that you won't say anything he continues, "I meant what I said, K9. I truly didn't mean to hurt you. Had I known I would have told you I was fine." He uncrosses his legs and leans forward, "But please understand my side, K9.
He looks truly sorry and distraught. And you had to admit it yourself, you missed him.
But just as you were about to speak your cell phone started ringing. You look away from him to answer it.
It was Miller. The ASPCA found another dog ring.
You hang up and look up at Lucifer, "Alright, Lucifer. Come with me on this case to help out. Then maybe I'll forgive you."
"I accept!" Lucifer's face beams of joy as you stand. You hang up your lab coat and Lucifer opens the door for you.
"Meet me at the precinct." You say to him as you head to your car.
"Yes ma'am!"
----------------------------------------
When you arrive at the precinct you change into your K9 uniform while Miller gathered up a team. Lucifer agrees to ride in your vehicle to the location where the ASPCA officials were waiting.
While driving you filled him in on the situation, "The ASPCA has been hunting a man named Roberto Alejandro for almost a year now. He's responsible for the largest dog fighting ring this state has had in a long time. They've never been able to catch his trail until it's too late. Somehow he seems to stay one step ahead of them."
"Hmm." Lucifer's looking out the window. You grip the steering wheel, thinking that he's not listening.
"It does astonish me, however, that a man responsible for a dog ring is able to hide so well from an entire company."
"Yeah, me too, and I have a theory on that but I'll explain it later." You turn into a run down looking neighborhood and continue, "Once wind of me being back in LA was heard the leader of the ASPCA contacted me about this case. Within the first two weeks I was able to get more information than they could find in months."
"Really?" Lucifer gives you an impressed smile, "What's your secret, K9?"
You fidget slightly, "You'll think I'm crazy."
"You're talking to the Devil, dear."
You scoff, "Right. Well, better to show first than explain."
The two of you arrive at the scene where the rest of your team was, along with an entourage of ASPCA men and women. You both exit the car and walk to Miller who was talking to one of the officers.
"What's the status?" You ask Miller.
"The ASPCA managed to catch a dog fight while it was happening in that building." He points to the decrypted brick house. Perfect place for crimes and criminals to hide since it looked to be abandoned, "When they charged in they managed to capture two of Roberto's men. Report says they saw him too, but he got away."
"Of course he did. At least we saw him now." You look at the ASPCA's kennel vehicles, "Any dogs saved?"
"The two that were currently fighting were shot down. However we did find a room with more dogs in cages, five in total. One of the dogs belongs to one of the men they caught."
"Alright." You nod, "I'm heading in for them. I'll radio you when it's good to get them." You and Lucifer start to walk to the building when Miller stops Lucifer.
There's been a few times where we thought the place was abandoned, then ended up in a firefight."
Instantly the dogs started to bark and growl at you two. Lucifer stays by the door while you walk a bit further into the room. You slowly raised your hands in surrender and continued to walk closer while the barking slowly died to growls. You pick a dog to go to and slowly walk to their cage. Hands still raised you kneel in front of the cage, still a few feet away.
"Hey. I'm not going to hurt you." You whisper to the dog.
The dog eyes you. It's a pit bull with awful scars across its face.
Lie...humans…hurt
The pit growls at you menacingly, but still takes a step back into the cage.
"I'm not like the humans you're used to. I help and heal. No hurting." You slowly put your hands down and take a little step closer. The dog takes another step back, "Can you tell me your name?"
...Killer…
You hold in your scoff. That name was very common among the dogs you've saved, "Well Killer, can you tell me anything about these humans who mistreat you and the others?" You take one step closer and the dogs takes one back, but he's reached the end of his tiny cage.
….No…
"You still don't trust me. How about I give you this," you hold out a treat, "and let you out of your cage? You can attack me and I won't fight back."
The dog doesn't answer. You place the treat through the cage. It takes a few minutes, but the pit comes up to the cage door and eats it. As he's eating you slowly reach out to the lock on the door. You open it quickly and brace yourself to get bite, like usual.
But the dog just cowers back into the cage.
What?
"I have to say, I'm a bit surprised." You say.
….Bad….worse than humans….
You raise a brow at the dog, but notice he's not looking at you.
He's looking behind you. At Lucifer.
You look back at him to see if he's doing anything to upset the dog, but Lucifer is just staring at you curiously. His hands were in his pockets and he was leaning against the door. Not threatening at all.
I trust...if...make evil leave…
You look curiously back at the dog, but nod and obey the wish, "Hey, Lucifer." You look behind you once more. He raises a brow at you, "I need you to step out of the room."
"What?" He's confused now, "Why?"
You look back at the dog and notice that all the dogs were now as far back in their cage as they could get when Lucifer spoke.
Odd…
"I'm not sure why," you look back to him, "but these dogs seem to be wary of you."
Lucifer scoffs loudly, "Of course they are. I'll be outside. Better that way." He says, annoyed. You wanted to stop him but he was already out the door.
----------------------------------------
Some time after Lucifer left the room you gained the dogs trust. You warn them that more humans are about to come in to take them inside a vehicle, where they'll then arrive at a building to receive treatment. After you radioed Miller it took an hour to just get the five dogs out of the building and into ASPCA hands. After talking to the head of the case about what you learned and telling your team to head back to the precinct you looked for Lucifer.
He was leaning against the hood of your car smoking a cigarette. His look was far off.
"Hey." You walk up to him.
The far look in his eyes change instantly when he looks at you, "Job well done, K9?"
You shrug, "Don't condone littering." He laughs at you than stares out the window as you drive off.
After 10 minutes of silence Lucifer finally asks that question you've been treading, "You understand animals?"
You take a quick side look at him expecting to see a look like he thought you were crazy, but that's not what you see. He looks genuinely curious and interested.
Still, it takes you a moment to find courage to answer truthfully, "...Yeah, sort of."
"That explains why you're clinic over in New York has such amazing reviews." He's smiling like he's incredibly happy to be let in on your little secret.
"You looked up my clinic?"
"Of course. Told you I'm interested to learn more about you, K9."
You remember all those looks the family's gave you whenever you talked to a stray cat or wild animal. Then the imagine of a bright burning light from a lamp blinds you.
Behind the bar stools under the kitchen island was the living room. You had a grey "c" shaped couch that was littered with pillows, along with a large quilt blanket hanging off the back. Lucifer walks past the living room to see that you have a step up to your bedroom like his penthouse. Difference is you had hidden sliding doors to separate the bedroom from the rest of the space. To his left he saw a door leading out to a small balcony that can also be accessed from the bedroom. The balcony was littered with pots of plants, as well as vegetables.
He smiles to himself. You did say you loved to garden.
He steps up into your bedroom to take a quick look around. To the right was a door that he assumed lead to the only bathroom. Next to that was two double mirror doors that he guessed was your closet.
"Well that's fun." He can't stop himself from whispering that comment.
Your bed looked to be a queen size. The bed sheets were various colors of green, and much like your couch your bed was also littered with pillows. The bed frame is black wrought iron with an abstract design of a tree with leaves as the headboard. The base was the same design, but as just vines with leaves.
Lucifer bites his lip. He can't help himself. The design choices in your room was giving him way too many ideas.
He leaves your room and sits on your couch, after moving many pillows. He goes to reach for the tv remote, but notices an opening in your coffee table. He messes with it and the top lifts up, it's one of those coffee table/eating tray sets. Makes sense for you to have one since there's no room for a proper dining set.
Instead you put on a plain colored t-shirt and black leggings.
"Alright, what are you interested in for food?" You say out loud as you exit the bathroom and place the dirty clothes in your hamper. When you hear no response you walk to the living room.
You freeze at the top of your bedroom steps. Lucifer was holding the papers you kept hidden.
He looks at you angrily, but you can tell that the anger is more directed at the papers than you. He lifts them up in one hand and says in an aggressive voice you've not heard from him yet:
"Who's threatening you?"

My problem with "Nook": an essay.
Okay lads.
Tumblr media
So I vagueblogged about it and I think I may have caused an unwanted reaction from that... So I'm gonna make myself clear and cause even more unwanted reactions.
So! I have a problem with how some people use the nickname Nook for Wish Hook.
Let me tell you something: I generally have zero problem with nicknames in media. Azula in AtLA called her brother Zuko (whom she verbally and eventually physically abused) Zuzu. Zuko is one of my favourite characters in AtLA, and one of my top favourites overall. Yet there's a blog called zuzuthefirelord and I smile every time I see its name. Related to Lucifer I've been watching, I smile every single time the titular character calls Dan "Detective Douche", yet I have nothing but respect for Dan. And coming closer to Hook, "Captain Guyliner" was used in a similar manner to how "Nook" was used, yet I have zero problems with that one. I may have used it myself at some point.
So why do I have an issue with "Nook"?
Because it's fandom dividing.
You know, pretty much everyone who likes Wish Hook hates the nickname "Fake Hook". Not only because it claims an air of superiority amongst WHook haters, but also because it's dividing us. People who loved the pure, virgin OG Hook fighting hard against the terrible, rape apologists fans of that absolute scumbag Wish Hook! How dare they like him!
Tumblr media
Btw, those are the same people accusing O'Donocrew mates of "acting superior". Heh.
Sadly, I get awfully similar vibes with "Nook". Of course the air of superiority isn't as blatant or maybe even there in the first place, but there's still a vibe of dividing. "Nook" was used by fans who hated the first iteration of Hook and found a version whose story they can enjoy. The difference being so big they don't even want to even associate one with the other, hence the use of the nickname.
Because there has to be a difference, right? There has to be! Using the simple "Hook" immediately points to the misogynist we all unanimously hate, and we can't have that can we. Screw the fans of both who have been meta-ing their life out of trying to show how those characters both are and aren't the same!
Tumblr media
"Not that again," I hear you say. And cool, fine, I respect your tastes even though I don't understand them even in the slightest. But still the use of that nickname is a little provocative, particularly towards fans of both Hooks. We had to deal with people, from both sides of the battlefield, call us all kinds of things you could think of. It wasn't the end of the world or the absolutely worst cyber bullying we could have received, but comimg here to see people still so adamant in dividing those two characters, their qualities and their meaningfulness... all I'm saying is cut us some slack and give us some credit. I know that people who use the term "Fake Hook" will, for the most part, not listen to reason, so I'm appealing to you, user of "Nook". All we ever wanted was to have some fucking fun and enjoy our favourite character viewed from another angle. Instead post 7x02 it was like
Tumblr media
and I'm like, one simple, stupid nickname is enough to drive me mad, is all.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Hiii! How are you, what's up, how's the life treating ya? Have you seen the Lucifer trailer from sdcc? Any thoughts? I'm kinda stuck on the Dan/Chloe kiss, but it looks great! Hope you're having a great week! ~DSEP
Heh, I haven’t watched any trailers/anything from SDCC, for any of my fandoms. I just reblog some pictures and look at stuff and go “hmm, cool,” so yes.
As for a Dan/Chloe kiss, I imagine that’s from the four standalone eps we were supposed to get at the end of s2, before they moved them to s3, because I know there were flashbacks to Chloe first joining the force among those. I have seen gifs of Linda and Chloe going to Lucifer’s penthouse and whooping it up, however, among others, and I definitely 100% approve.
The biggest news that I took away from SDCC, however, is the introduction of New Love Interest Guy, and hooooo, do I have theories. Some of which I already inflicted on @devilishyhandsomefriend, but yes.
Anyway, in short, here’s my spec: “Marcus Pierce” is either Michael, as in the archangel Michael, or some kind of agent/associate of his.
Why? Glad you asked!
First of all, the name set off my radar immediately. “Marcus” is from “Mars,” as in the Roman god of war, and “Pierce” is a violent-sounding action – you pierce someone with something, such as, say, a sword. So this dude’s name basically means “War Sword” right off the bat. Hmmm.
Next, the archangel Michael was, traditionally, the guy who led Heaven’s armies against Lucifer in the war: he was Lucifer’s main antagonist/major foil among his siblings, the most powerful, the one in charge of throwing Lucifer out of heaven and keeping him out. Marcus also seems to turn up right after Lucifer gets his wings back. Given as the entire theme of the season is about Lucifer’s identity as either angel/devil, I’m not buying that this guy who is specifically presented as Lucifer’s antithesis, everything he’s not – i.e. mature, reliable, serious, stable – is just some handsome square-jawed human that happened to wander into the place. So again: his name has warlike connotations, and he’s Lucifer’s opposite, and he’s turned up right after Lucifer’s angelic identity/connection to heaven has been restored. Yes, some of the role of most powerful/oldest archangel seems to have been filled by Amenadiel, but there’s still a space to bring on Michael. It could also explain why Chloe is attracted to him – he’s like Lucifer fundamentally, i.e. angelically, but he actually has, you know, his shit together.
Next, they have been pretty coy about the possibility of seeing more angel siblings, or who exactly the antagonist for the season is. We know that Charlotte Richards will be around as her human self now that Mom’s gone, but… she doesn’t really fit the bill for a Big Bad any more. The guy NAMED FOR THE GOD OF WAR seems a litttttttle suspicious to me, especially since we’ve been told right off the bat that Lucifer isn’t going to be happy with the situation and will feel insecure and challenged. To which I say: good.
Obviously, nobody really likes love triangles, but a) the writers have smartly subverted and played around with tropes and avoided being predictable in a ton of ways before, and b) honestly, Lucifer really, really needs a kick in the pants, and HARD. He’s changed a lot, but he still hasn’t changed in quite the way Chloe needs him to. He’s basically figured that he can fuck it up repeatedly and then waltz back into her life and retake his place (see 2x14) and he just has not gotten it through his damn dense head that this pattern cannot continue. Tom himself said that Lucifer never regarded Dan as a real rival for Chloe; he was “Detective Douche,” beta male, not somebody who could actually challenge him. Marcus/Michael/Pseudo-Michael, on the other hand… that’s a different story. If this is the guy who defeated Lucifer and threw him out of heaven before, or has some connection to him, then yeah, Lucifer is going to be hot under the collar and he’s going to have to take (finally…) a serious look at what he’s been doing and the ways in which, with good intentions, he’s been taking Chloe for granted the way he did Maze (and which we just saw Maze free herself from). But if Marcus IS Michael, and not telling Chloe who he is, Lucifer is going to have to think hard about doing the same himself, and whatever secrets he’s still keeping/inclined to keep.
I don’t want Marcus to be evil, just because a) the writers so rarely make any character completely dislikable, love to develop, have everyone’s best interests at heart, and want to tell a compelling story, and b) obviously, I don’t want Chloe to be forced to return to Lucifer just because the other guy turned out to be fake. Just as they’ve done such a good job exploring so far, she needs to (and Lucifer will not be satisfied with) anything less than her returning to him because she 100% WANTS TO BE WITH HIM, has made a realistic survey of possible options, and has chosen Lucifer over them all.
In the meantime, however, let’s be real: Chloe has put up with a ton of Lucifer’s shit, and as much as she cares about him, everyone hits their breaking point eventually, especially when Lucifer has been so confoundedly slow to learn as he has. Chloe isn’t going to drop him hot potato, but honestly, I think a lot of squirming is good for him, because we all know Lucifer only ever learns things the hard way. If he sees Chloe be attracted to someone who is seemingly actually capable of giving her a real adult relationship, he will probably try to copy/make those changes, fail disastrously (see The Dansformation) and then struggle his way into figuring it out somehow. But he has to do that, just as Chloe has to learn the truth. So you could either have Marcus as just completely human who represents the ordinary/mundane/usual world, and Lucifer the wacky angel on the other hand, and Chloe having to choose between that… but I feel like both Marcus and Lucifer are going to have to meet halfway, and both be revealed as not quite what they seem (for both us as the audience, and for Chloe). After all, this show loves it some twists.
Anyway, yes. The interest in season 3 is that Lucifer cannot go on as he has been doing, and Chloe cannot really go any further with him until she knows what the hell (literally) has been going on for the last two seasons, plus Lucifer has his wings back, plus he’s encountering a real challenge/somebody who he has to take seriously as a rival. Maybe Marcus is totally human, sure, but if he’s Michael, that adds a whole interesting dimension to what’s going on, and I do hope it plays out in a supernatural twist. That, after all, is the fun of the show.
(Sorry for the novel, heh. But yes. I have Thoughts. Hope you’re well. xD)

Battle Scars
A/N: FINALLY FEELING BETTER!! YAY! I STARTED THIS BEFORE I LEFT FOR AMERICA AND WROTE LIKE THE LAST HALF TODAY WHEN I FINALLY FELT BETTER! Anyways thank you for your patience and her is Yet another request from a Anon. I do hope I make you proud. :)
Pairings: Lucifer Morningstar x reader
Summary: After being injured on a case, Y/N decides to patch up Lucifer. However she fids more scars than she was in for.
Warnings: Nope
--------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Ever since you had met Lucifer at your sister, Dr. Linda Martins office, he had immediatly struck you as the reckless type. With beautiful eyes and a troublemaker smile you could tell that he was definitly the type liked to live dangerously.
Maybe thats why you were so drawn to him
Your sister always told you that you have a weird taste for dangerous men and Mr. Lucifer Morningstar was no exception to this. He was not only handsome and charming, but he also had a fun side. He, like you, craved adventure and new experiences. However, you were less reckless about seeking adventure. Last you recall you never put yourself directly in harms way just to have an aweseome adventure.
That was the only problem that you found in your romantic relationship with Lucifer
Everytime he returned home, he always had new scars on his body from the case of that day. You could always patch him up so It was never nothing to serious. But still, you wished he would be less reckless.
This night happend to be no exception. Detective Decker came into LUX with yet another case, this one a triple homicide (or as Lucifer affectionatly called it a HOMIEcide because the killer was the three victims best friend.) He kissed you goodbye and left with Chole. You looked at her and gave her the look you two knew all to well:
“Don’t let him do anything Stupid.”
She nodded and walked away, Lucifer following closley behind. You watched the duo walk out of the club as you sent a silent prayer to Lucifers father, asking to keep him safe. You sighed softly and went up to the penthouse floor, gently running you hand across the piano as you went to the bar and poured yourself a shot of vodka.
“Hey is Lucifer out again?” His angel brother, Amenadiel asked as he stood up from the couch.
“Yeah,” you replied. “He and Chole are closing in on a triple homicide case they have been working on for a while. She said they will be back in an hour or so.”
Amenadiel nodded and studied you for a second, his dark eyes looking intently at you as if trying to decipher something out of you. “You’re worried about him, aren’t you?” he asked.
You drank you shot and met his gaze. “Yeah, I always am when he is with Chole. Besides me, She is the only other person that makes him vulnerable so he could easily get hurt around her. And well, Lucifer being Lucifer he has a way of making the wrong people angry.” you paused for a second and sat on the Piano bench. “I just don’t want to see him hurt, Amenadiel.”
He smiled softly and walked over to you, leaning on the Piano and looking at you. “You care about him so much, it amazes me. I have been in exsistance for a very long time, but I don’t think I have ever me a human as good and as kind as you are. Lucifer is one lucky person to have you in his life.”
“Thank you,” you said, blushing ever so slightly.
“It’s true.” Amenadiel said. He looked at his watch and picked up his jacket off the couch arm. “I have to go. I told Mazikeen that I would meet her at 7. Have a lovely night, Y/N.”
You inclined your head. “You to, Amenadiel.”He walked out towards the elevator and left, leaving you with a piano and vodka to pass the time until the club opened and until Lucifer came home.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
It was 2 AM and now you were seriously scared. Chole wasn’t picking up and neither was Lucifer. Hell, you had even tried to call detective douche and he told he had no idea as he was trying to reach chole as well. He had been on another case so he hadn’t seen Lucifer and Chole all day.
You were pacing in the penthouse of LUX as the music from multiple floors below pounded loudly. You were trying to distract yourself fro thinking the worst of thing, telling yourself maybe he was busy or maybe he can’t hear his phone. However none of those thoughts seemed to lull your worry and dread back to sleep, try as they might. You just wanted Lucifer home and okay. You sat down and sent another silent prayer to his father, begging him to let Luci be alright.
And, As if on queue, the devil himself stumbled into the penthouse, one hand clutching his back. You shot up out of La La Land and ran to him. Without a second thought, you wraped on arm around him and with your other hand you slung his arm over your shoulder and helped him to the couch where you sat him down. He let out a small grunt of pain as you did so.
“What the hell happened to being safe?” you asked as you brought put the first aid kit.
“Oh you know, the usual. I went in by myself, told the detective to stay away but of corse she didn’t listen and I got shot in the back.” Lucifer said.
You sighed to youself. “Next time handcuff her to the car or tell her why she needs to stay behind.” You pulled up his dark shirt and tried to get a good looka t the wound. “Take of your shirt please. I need to get a better look at this wound.”
Unsurprisingly, Lucifer obliged. “You know, when I hear that I normally get laid.” he said with a devilish smirk playing at his lips. He looked at you and you sent him a sarcastic smile before pouring rubbing achohole on his wound. He yelled out some untypeable words and that smirk quickly left his face. You turned your attention to his back when something caught your eye.
On his back, between his shoulder blades were two identical scars. They were big and rough looking as if they had been created with a knife. You quickly looked away, feeling as if maybe you were not supposed to see them. You applied an antibiotic and some gauze to the wound before wrapping it so the bandage would hold.
“You’re all set...thankfully the wound wasn’t to deep other wise you would be going to a hospital.” You said, your voice significantly quiter as you tried to refrain from looking at the horendous scars on his back.
Lucifer, surprisingly caught on and noticed your voice change. “ Are you alright?”
You nodded and tried to meet his gaze. “Yeah.” He raised an eyebrow at you and you broke. “No.”
“What is it?”
“Its just...” you said as you gently place you hands on his back, almost directly on his back. “All this time together and you never told me about these scars.” you whispered as you ran a finger over them, tracing the shape ever so delicately. He tensed considerably and moved away quickly.
“Please,” he said softly. “Don’t touch.”
“What are they from Lucifer?” you asked. He looked away and you could tell it was a slightly sensative subject.
“When I finally made it out of hell, Mazikeen and I found ourselves on a beach. We were completly lost and I’ll admit a little scared. However one thinf was certain. We, or at least I, wanted to leave everything that tied myself to both Heaven and Hell. So I had Mazikeen cut my wings off.”
You gasped slightly. “Didn’t that hurt you?”
“Oh, you can’t imagine the pain.” Lucifer said simply. “However I don’t completly regret it at all. I can’t expect you to fully understand what it feels like to have such a burden and reminder of the life you once had taken off of your shoulders so quickly. It felt and I felt free. Free to do whatever I wanted.”
You took in the infomation that had been presented to you as you moved the first aid equpment out of the way so you could sit more comfortably in Lucifers lap. He began stroking your hair and you could feel yourself slowly unwind.
“What if you wanted to get back to hell? Could you ever go back without your wings?” you asked softly. Lucifer’s hand that been stroking your hair stopped for a second. Then he resumed.
“Well, theoretically yes,” Lucifer said. “But I would never want to. I have everything I have ever wanted up here. Heaven and Hell were never my home. Earth is my home now and I fully intend on staying here with you. Truth be told you are what makes this place so much more special to me. If anything, you are my home.”
Your heart skipped a beat at that statement. Somewhere in your heart you were shocked by this. I mean sure, you knew Lucifer loved you but you had just no idea how much until he said that. One simple phrase that meant so much.
“You are my home.”
You looked up at him, his dark eyes glistening in the dim lights. “I love you Lucifer.”
He smiled at you as he pressed a soft and tender kiss on your forehead. “I love you as well, my dear.”

Mortem maneat omnibus
Summary: When Lucifer arrived at Detective Decker's house everything spiraled out of control. Lucifer is still trying to figure out his feelings when the Angel of Death arrives to collect Chloe's soul but not everything is as it seems. There may still be a way to save Chloe, if only the Angel of Death wasn't so bloody cryptic.
The world was spinning and Lucifer didn’t know how to make it stop. The anger, the rage had evaporated replaced one emotion, one emotion the Devil was not accustomed to feeling; panic. The second he saw the blood coming from the detective’s nose Lucifer didn’t care if she betrayed him, he didn’t care if she worked for his father. Lucifer just wanted her to be okay.
Lucifer gathered the detective in his arms, ignoring her protests he led her to his car.
“You are not fine, I’m taking you to the hospital,” Lucifer snapped as Chloe tried to protest getting into the car, “Doctor Jekyll must have hit you when you chased him.”
“Jekyll was the good one,” Chloe murmured as Lucifer strapped her in to the seat, part of her wanted to tell Lucifer she wasn’t a baby and could get into the car on her own, another part of her liked the attention. Liked that he was willing to take care of her.
“He created a bloody monster just so he could feel better about himself, I’d hardly call that good,” Lucifer commented getting into his side of the car.
The sped down the road like death himself was chasing them. Chloe didn’t even protest at the numerus traffic laws Lucifer broke and that let the Devil know how bad it really was, the detective never gave a chance to complain about his driving, so much so that she insisted on doing most of the driving herself.
Lucifer weaved in and out of traffic, avoiding no less than three accidents by mere inches. Still Detective Decker didn’t complain.
Lucifer spun into the hospital, not caring that the spot he stopped in was blocking several other cars and at least one ambulance. Pulling the detective out of her seat Lucifer all but carried her into the hospital. Yelling for help.
Chloe lay in the hospital bed, in one of those horrible hospital gowns. She’s insisted on calling Trixie at Dan’s apartment. Dan wanted to bring Trixie down to see her mother but Chloe hadn’t wanted her daughter to see in the state she was in, blood still seeping from her nose. The redness of her eyes also indicated that those too would begin to bleed soon.
Lucifer had paced the hall while the doctors looked the detective over. If Professor Carlisle wasn’t already dead Lucifer would be hunting him down and making him talk, cry, scream, whatever it took to get the cure. Lucifer could be very creative when came to punishment and he was sure those methods could be used to get information, if used in moderation, something he might not have considered given the circumstance. To save Chloe he would do anything. It didn’t matter that the detective worked for his father, willingly or unwillingly, he wasn’t sure yet, also long as she was alive. Chloe could be on the other side of the world hating him but as long she still breathing Lucifer could survive, he wasn’t entirely sure he could if she was dead. He couldn’t even follow her into Hell because there is no way she would go there. No, Chloe Decker was destined for the silver city, the one place Lucifer could not follow.
The news wasn’t good, given the twenty four hour timeline of the other victims Chloe didn’t have too much longer. If the clock had started during the chase then the detective had a little over twelve hours left. Carlisle had had years to prefect his poison, and each dose was different, it didn’t take a doctor to figure of that Chloe’s odds was slim to none.
He was the Devil. A fallen angel. She was mortal. A tool, maybe even a weapon, wielded by God against his once favourite son. Lucifer knew he shouldn’t care, especially given what he had just learned but he did, he couldn’t make himself stop.
Collapsing a chair Lucifer ran his fingers through his hair. He was stuck. Carlisle was dead, the research, the cure, it had all been in his head, it had all died with him.
Someone dropped into the seat next to him and Lucifer turned to tell them to bugger off.
The Devil froze. “Azrael,” He breathed.
“Hello, brother,” The angel of death smiled weakly.
Lucifer shot to his feet, “No! You can’t have her. She still has time.”
“A few hours is a blink of an eye compared to us,” Azrael remained seated.
Lucifer spun around to face his sister and for the first time noticed her dress, very human compared to what Uriel and Amenadiel wore when they first appeared to him. He also noted that time had continued to move, a nurse even stepped over Azrael’s outstretched legs. It didn’t make any sense, she should be there.
“Why are you here, Azrael?” Lucifer hissed stepping towards his sister, “Your errand boy is more than capable of collecting this soul. You don’t get your hands dirty often.”
“There are special souls, brother,” Azrael lent back into the chair, stretching her legs further into the hall, “Souls that warrant special attention on their death, an angel’s attention. Souls who drag us from our hiding places, you have John Constantine, I have Chloe Decker. When she dies I’ll lead her to the Silver City myself.”
“How can I save her?” Lucifer begged.
“I can’t…,” Azrael shook her head.
“Your list always changes, Rae,” Lucifer snapped, “It’s human nature, free will. People decided to turn left instead of right, they go out instead of staying in. Every decision changes your list, it constantly changes. Father gave humans free will, their choices change everything. How. Do. I. Change. This?”
Azrael wouldn’t meet her brother’s gaze. She looked up and down the hospital hall, looking for any human prying eyes, and ears. She sighed, “Change is inevitable, brother, but it is human. There is nothing I can do.”
Lucifer had been close with his sister before his fall, in terms of age she was the closest of his siblings to him and as the angel of death she had been one of his few siblings to visit him in Hell, bringing souls from time to time. Like Lucifer Azrael didn’t lie but that didn’t mean she told the whole truth either. He could read between the lines, “I asked what I could do, not you, me.”
“She is mortal,” Azrael stood up, her height rivalling that of her brother, “Be it today, tomorrow or in fifty years Chloe Decker will die.”
Lucifer stood to his full height and glared at his sister, his eyes flashing red.
Azrael just rolled her eyes, “I have seen Hell, brother, and I have known you far too long to fear you.”
“You haven’t seen me in a long time,” Lucifer’s true face flashed for second, when it returned to normal he collapsed back into his vacated chair. Running his hand through his hair again Lucifer sighed, “Rae, I don’t know what to do. I can’t lose her. Dad sent her to me and I still can’t hate her.”
Azrael sat back in her chair, setting one foot on the chair she placed her chin on her knee, “You always had a kind heart, despite what some of our siblings, and the humans, think of you, it’s why you were always my favourite brother, but loving a human will only cause you pain.”
“I can handle pain,” Lucifer rested his head in his hands, “I just can’t stand to see her in any.” He looked his sister up and down, “Why are you here, Rae?”
“I said…”
“I know what you said,” Lucifer shook his head, “Now I want the whole truth. You could have come and gone without me knowing but you sat next to me, you didn’t freeze time and you appear human. You talked to me. Why. Are. You. Here?”
“Because my brother needed me,” Azrael replied looking Lucifer straight in the eye. “Because…,” She sighed, “Because…”
“Because there is a way to save her but you can’t tell me,” Lucifer concluded. He looked at his sister, pure desperation in his eyes, “Azrael, is there a way to save her?”
Azrael bit her lip.
“I’ll give you your blade back.”
“I’ll not make a deal with the Devil,” Azrael smiled weakly, “Heaven and Hell do not bargain.”
“Dad made a deal to save her before,” Lucifer counted.
“And you didn’t exactly keep your word,” Azrael shot back.
“It’s kind of hard to get mom to…,” A smile suddenly sprung on to Lucifer’s face, “… Hell.” He laughed, wrapping his sister in a hug, “You bloody genius.”
“Lucifer,” A voice spoke.
Lucifer pulled away from Azrael and turned towards the voice, “Detective Douche.”
Dan looked between Lucifer and Azrael, frowning, “Chloe is in the hospital and you’re flirting with some hussy.”
Lucifer stood, his full height dwarfing the detective before him, “Detective if you wish to keep your limbs attached to your body then you will refrain from calling my sister a hussy.”
Dan looked around Lucifer, “Sister?”
“Eyes back here, Douche,” Lucifer snapped, “You’ve already defiled my… Charlotte, don’t even look at my sister.” He looked Dan up and down, “Where’s the spawn?”
“Trixie is at a friend’s house,” Dan answered, “She shouldn’t see her mom like this.”
“Well at least you did one thing right.”
Azrael stood, placing her hand on Lucifer’s shoulder, “Now is not the time.”
Lucifer turned back to face his sister, “You’re right. Detective Decker’s life is at stake.”
Azrael smiled, “Have you figured it out yet?”
“Figured out what?” Dan asked, drawing Lucifer’s attention again.
Lucifer grinned at the detective, “How to save Chloe of course.”
“How?” Dan asked, concern written all over his face.
“Ring it out of Professor Carlisle of course,” Lucifer continued to grin wickedly.
“Carlisle dead,” Dan countered.
“Exactly,” Lucifer exclaimed excitedly, “All that murder and suicide would have sent him straight to Hell.”
“And you’re the Devil,” Dan rolled his eyes, “Morningstar, this is hardly the time for your theatrics.”
Ignoring the detective Lucifer looked at his sister, “I forfeited my way back when I burned my wings. Can you get me there without having to kill me?”
“In theory,” Azrael shrugged, “Getting you back here with the information you need will be slightly more difficult. Sending things down are slightly easier than bringing them back up.”
“I’m asking you to get me there, I’ll find my own way out,” Lucifer promised.
“Once you’re there Remiel may not let you leave,” Azrael warned.
“Remiel is holding the fort is he? Well, never mind,” Lucifer shrugged, “He is an ant compared to you and me.”
“And you’re risking everything for something that ant could crush,” Azrael countered.
“Her name is Chloe and I would do anything for her,” Lucifer sighed, “Including do the one thing I promised myself I would never do.” Turning to Dan he smiled weakly, “Take care of Chloe, I’ll be back soon.”
Before Dan could respond the Devil turned back to his sister and held his hand out to Azrael, the angel of death herself, “Take me to Hell.”
