How’s it going @waterfire1848 ?
I saw your earlier post about Lin feeling like Toph didn’t love her like Suyin. And it got me thinking, who else didn’t think their mom loved as much as their sibling? Azula.
So how do you think a scenario, where Lin runs away from home and stumbles (perhaps quite literally) into Azula. Whom is living in secret somewhere in the Earth Kingdom. Azula then reluctantly at first (then genuinely) raises Lin would play out?
Hey @745voiceofthepeople ! Great to see you again! I'm doing good! You?
Ohhhhhh. Interesting.
I’ll start by saying that I don’t think Lin would say who her mom is. She knows by now that that either means trouble or people following her, begging her to teach them metalbending. Neither of which she wants. So when she does slam into Azula, she just says she’s a kid running from home.
Azula can’t help but feel some sympathy when she hears the girl talk about how her mom doesn’t love her and only cares about her sister so she agrees to let Lin stay as long as she helps out and doesn’t draw attention to her.
Lin quickly grows to love Azula. I don’t know if this Lin would be a kid/teen who ran from home or if she’s running away right after the Suyin incident but either way she loves Azula. She hasn’t put two and two together, but she does know Azula has a past she’s not talking about. Whenever the two talk about family, Azula uses the same tricks she does to keep her family secret.
One day, Toph shows up (I assume she’d come if Lin was a kid/teen but I don’t know about if she’d come after the Suyin incident when Lin looks to be in her 20s) and Azula and Lin find out who the other is. Lin is confused because on the one hand, this is not the Azula she’s heard stories about. The Azula from her mom’s stories are terrifying and made Suyin wet the bed. This Azula is kind and took Lin in. On the other hand, Lin also got stories from the other Gaang parents about Azula (meaning there might be some truth to their stories) so she becomes a little scared which saddens Azula because she doesn’t want to see this girl that she’s grown to really care for get scared of her.
Azula can’t stay in her Earth Kingdom home and is forced to flee before Zuko finds her. Lin returns to Republic City but gets a letter a few days later from Azula giving her her address and an invitation to come with.
Lin accepting or not is up to you.
Incorrect quote for this
[ Lin is running from bandits and slams into Azula. ]
Bandit: Hand the kid over!
Azula: And why would I do that?
Bandit: We have you surrounded, old woman. Don’t make this hard on yourself. We just want her and then we’ll leave.
[ Azula looks at Lin. ]
Lin:
Azula: *Groaning* I was really hoping to get through a day without fighting.
[ Shoots lightning and fire at the bandits to scare them off. ]
Lin: You’re a lightning bender! That was amazing! I’ve never seen-
Azula: Explain. Now.
Lin: MymomhatesmeandIranaway,butIranoutofmoneyandstolefromthosebandits!
Azula: Slower.
Lin: My mom hates me and I ran away, but I ran out of money and stole from those bandits. They saw me and chased me and that’s how I ended up here.
Azula: Go home, kid.
Lin: Wha-No.
Azula: No?
Lin: No. I won’t bother you anymore but I can’t go home.
Azula: Because you mom hates you?
Lin: Yeah. I’m just some kid she’s forced to take care of because putting me up for adoption would look bad. My sister is her real kid.
Azula: *Sigh* You’re out of food?
[ Lin nods. ]
Azula: Come with me. I’ll get you something to eat and some water.

Headcanons for Hanzo & Kuai adopting a daughter? I get girldad vibes from both of then
honestly you are so right tho
I think it could go a few ways, bc I don't think they'd set out to adopt a kid, I think it's something that would sort of happen to them.
So if Hanzo is the one suddenly caring for a girl:
He found her in the wreckage of her home, just barely older than a toddler and crying her eyes out.
Shirai Ryu take in sole survivors, so he brings her back to the compound and she just clings to him, refusing to let anyone else near her.
Then Kuai Liang shows up to an alliance meeting and is stunned to find Hazno carrying a small child and suddenly wonders if he's been in a coma for a few years bc how else can you explain this.
As soon as he finds out the truth, he is immediately on board, making her ice sculptures as toys, teaching her to ice skate, showing her how to throw a punch (bc every little girl should know how to defend herself, Hanzo, why are you looking at me like that it's not like I gave her a knife yet)
Kuai Liang becomes her new favorite person and Hanzo pretends he's not bothered by it (He also just thinks Kuai Liang looks good with a kid and doesn't know how to process that)
Takeda and Frost both latch onto her as well, taking her under their wing and being the bad influence every older sibling should be. Within a week of knowing them, baby girl has pulled three pranks (one of which dyed Hanzo's hair bright pink) and shows no signs of slowing down. Takeda and Frost are very proud.
Generally, I think she'd have a decently normal childhood except for all the kombat training and superpowers.
But if Kuai Liang is the one suddenly caring for a girl, depends on where in the timeline it happens, I'm gonna go with it happening after he and Hanzo have made peace (but I have so many headcanons for how it works at other points in the timeline someone pls ask me about them, give me an excuse to ramble I BEG):
He's on a mission when he finds a baby crying on the doorstep of the safehouse he's using, with a note explaining that she is a cryomancer and needs to be protected. Understandably, he's a little suspicious at how anyone knew he was here, but resolves to figure it out another day.
Literally the moment she looks at him, he's gone, that baby girl is his new reason for living and he would do anything for her, 0-60 in no time flat just absolutely ride or die.
He names her after his mother
Kuai Liang brings her back with him to the Lin Kuei and she becomes the clan's best kept secret, not a Word of her existence gets out bc Kuai Liang is understandably worried that someone will try to take her (that note was pretty suspicious after all), and everyone in the clan is just instantly smitten. Frost in particular declares herself baby Ru's protector. If Kuai Liang isn't holding her, Frost is.
Hanzo comes to the temple for an impromptu alliance meeting, kinda worried bc they weren't scheduled to meet for a week and then just sees Kuai Liang with a baby in his arms and short circuits (is also hit with some Horrendous baby fever because jesus Kuai Liang looks good with a baby, fucking hell)
Hanzo is the only person Kuai Liang trusts that has had a kid before (look, we love Johnny, but man cannot keep a secret to save his life) so naturally Kuai Liang called him for help.
Hanzo is also enchanted by baby Ru from the moment he holds her and helps Kuai Liang set up a proper nursery, get everything he needs, and volunteers himself for babysitting duty whenever needed. He and Frost end up making peace solely because of baby Ru.
Hanzo also ends up moving into the Lin Kuei temple for a couple months (he still does go check on his own clan, he's basically just taking a leave of absence) and helps Kuai Liang learn how to parent. They take turns going to settle her when she wakes up in the middle of the night, that way at least one of them gets some sleep.
That's how they end up getting together, Hanzo has to go back to the Shirai Ryu for a week and when he comes back Kuai Liang is exhausted and running on fumes as he hands baby Ru over, kissing Hanzo with a mumbled thank you, and then shuffling off to bed.
If they both end up suddenly looking after a little girl:
They're on a mission post-Kronika being defeated (in an AU where the timeline didn't get reset bc fuck that), and they find one of Shang Tsung's labs that he rebuilt after escaping Kronika's void.
It's a new version of the flesh pits pretty much and in it he's made clones of all the various defenders, but not clones of just one at a time, like he mixes the DNA of two or more defenders together to make a kid. (Think laura from the xmen)
Every defender basically gets a new kid (Kitana, Liu Kang, and Kung Lao have an understandably Wild set of reactions to that which I will Happily ramble about given the opportunity) and that includes Hanzo and Kuai Liang who's DNA was mixed to create a little girl who is about ten when they find her (that's as far as Shang Tsung could speed up the aging process, all these kids look about ten but none actually are)
She's got Hanzo's temper and Kuai Liang's stubbornness so it's a bit of a rocky start, especially since she is so confused about the situation, but once she gets settled, she warms up to them pretty quickly.
They take her to the Shirai Ryu bc Kuai Liang understandably has some negative associations with a child that age being within the walls of the Lin Kuei temple.
She's absolutely unhinged and wild, just no sense of decorum. When she's bored, she will just Leave and go hide in the woods so at least one person must have eyes on her at all times (Hanzo briefly considers a backpack leash but Kuai Liang immediately shoots him down.
She's also shockingly talented at Kombat, which Kuai Liang is very concerned by and he tries to give her some constructive hobbies to balance her out, like painting. She takes to it quite well, but also really enjoys drawing quite spooky things so its a mixed bag.
She and Frost are always either the best of friends or at each other's throats there is no in between. Hanzo is worried by how often they throw knives at each other but Kuai Liang and Bi-Han did the same so he's not very concerned by that.
Takeda finds her unsettling at first (partly because he wasn't introduced to her before he stumbled across her in the woods, cooking and eating a rat she had killed bc she got bored.
They end up getting along fine once the situation is explained, but that was quite a shock.
When she's fifteen she joins the Lin Kuei officially, bc that is the youngest Kuai Liang will allow her to be when she joins and trains with them full time.
Eventually, Frost takes over as grandmaster and baby girl becomes the next Sub-Zero, the two becoming a deadly team as Takeda becomes grandmaster of the Shirai Ryu
Lemme know if you want more, bc I can do more

Day 299,
Morning thought: It occurs to me that I asked Cass about having friends her own age last rainy season too and didn’t get an answer then either.  With the age range of the classes each season, the oldest kids in this class would have been taking lessons at the same time as Cass at one point, but I don’t think I’ve ever noticed them showing much familiarity in that way.  Then again, they would have been at opposite age ranges of the cohort and most of the friend groups seem to cluster with those of about the same age.
I find myself torn between asking Cass’s parents about her lack of friends and just letting the matter drop.  On the one hand, I want to respect her privacy, on the other hand, now that I’ve got the thought in my head I find myself worrying about her.
*******
When Cass arrived to help get the classroom ready for the day I attempted to apologize for anything I might have asked or said yesterday that I shouldn’t have.  She brushed it off and said not to worry about it.  I am still worrying about it, but I let it drop.
The more unexpected conversation with her happened hours later as we were cleaning up for the day after the children had all left.  Out of the blue Cass spoke up and suggested that we try going into Cloud Tower next dry season.  Not try to go up so high we disappear or anything, but just step inside at least.
When I asked what brought this on she said that if we were going to spend a season keeping our heads down so that Theo thinks we “learned our lesson” after last time and doesn’t interfere, then when we do finally do something big it should be something really big because we probably won’t be able to get away with that twice.
I had to concede that I follow the logic there.  There’s still the matter of logistics though.  We don’t really have a boat and if we even hint at what we want one for then Theo’s sure to make life difficult for us.  And I can’t imagine Cass’s parents will be okay with her going on that expedition.  Helping me travel to a magic spring for healing or spending a couple of weeks on an island that goes on a fixed course and comes back home are not quite the same as going into a strange mechanical tower that most people don’t even like to talk about even though it’s impossible not to see on a daily basis.
Cass’s response was that we don’t have to tell anyone or get anyone’s permission if we just build our own boat and/or use Maiko’s when she comes back.  I appreciate that she said “when” and not “if”.
Still, I didn’t feel great about the prospect of going behind people’s backs like that.  Also, neither of us know how or possess the skills for building a boat.
To the latter point she pointed out that I live in a library and to the former she said that we’re already kind of doing that anyway.
Ultimately I wound up tabling further discussion on the topic until we get Lin and Vernon in here in a few days to look at the book/chant transcripts.  If (and I emphasized the “if” to her) we do this, they’ll inevitably be involved and so we should get their buy-in before we commit to planning anything.
In truth, I think I just wanted to change the subject because for some reason it was making me uneasy.  Am I starting to adopt that “tower fear” shared by most villagers?  More likely it’s just my more general fear of committing to anything big that I wasn’t expecting.  And now that I’m writing I find myself wondering if Cass brought this up to shift my attention away from her apparent lack of friends.  If she did, it certainly worked.  For a while anyway.  Now I’ve just got two big things weighing on my mind that I need to make decisions about.

Spirited Away
Wow, I am going to be honest, I did not go into this movie thinking that it would be an incredible experience. Initially, I had no idea what to expect, never heard of Studio Ghibli or Spirited Away at all and I thought it would be some generic kids movie. But I was so wrong.
I'll start with my impression of Chihiro, she starts as a scared girl who has just moved away from everything she had known. Her parents seem to not have much regard for her concerns either, especially when she is at an extremely vulnerable point in her life. I mean I can totally relate to her in this sense, as a child moving from all your friends, your home, your old school, and suddenly being expected to just fit into a completely foreign place is very upsetting. This along with both parents seeming to disregard her uncomfortableness with the theme park and them gorging on the suspicious food, paints Chihiro as a weak victim of her parents own desires. Now I understand that not everything a parent does needs to be catered toward their child but still, they are very much putting themselves first in this situation (even with the mother telling Chihiro to stop clinging to her!). However, after meeting Haku, and settling into Yubaba's resort/onsen she starts to become more confident. This is evident through the way she moves around, Lin initially yells at her for being a klutz because she is tripping and falling all the time, as she becomes accustomed to her new living conditions, she is able to run along pipes, and scale large walls. By the end of the movie, she is confident enough to pretty much face down Yubaba and win her parents back. I thought it was awesome to see her grow so much in this short period.
Now, I will get to No Face. This character really puzzled me for a while because I couldn't really find why he seemed to be so important in the story or why he was so attached to Chihiro. I came to interpret that No Face is a kind of representation of "the golden rule" you know, treating others the way you want to be treated. No Face is set apart from the other spirits right off the bat with how he notices Chihiro through Haku's spell on the bridge, as to why he can I do not know. But when No Face finally "confronts" Chihiro, she treats him kindly by inviting him to come inside from the rain. No Face then reflects this compassion by helping her get a bath tag that the foreman refused to give to her. Later on, No Face encounters the greedy staff who would do anything for the gold he could produce. In response, No Face becomes incredibly greedy and gluttonous but Chihiro doesn't care for the gold and when she encounters No Face in this form he ends up becoming ambivalent and returns to following Chihiro. Something I cannot pin down is why he decides to stay at Zeniba's house. No Face acted proper and polite just as he should of because of Zeniba's hospitality and politeness, but as Chiriho leaves he stays, why? The only reason I can think of is that No Face is still being polite and is respecting Zeniba's proposal to stay with her. Still though, No Face seemed like a central character to Chihiro, and all of the sudden he just doesn't care about Chihiro, I think its a little strange.
As I have hinted at before there is a consistent theme of greed and identity. The greed is primarily seen in Chihiro's parents and the staff, identity is a bit more nuanced. I would say that No Face itself is the antithesis of identity, it adopts the personality of whoever it comes into contact with. However, No Face is not the only character that has a huge focus on identity. Yubaba, Chihiro, and Haku's relationship revolves around identity. Yubaba specifically gains control via taking/reducing their names and wiping it from their memory. If that doesn't scream about the power of owning one's own identity, I don't know what does.
I feel that I have ranted enough for today, so thank you for suffering through that. Hopefully, I will be able to better organize my thoughts as the semester goes on. I will most definitely be recommending this to my friends and family. 9/10

Complicated
Fking finally lol. I’ve had absolutely no motivation to read or write these last few days, but I finally started this last night and finished it now. Here’s Day 15--a bad day, and part 3 of the mini-series i have going for this month.
Part 1  Part 2
cw: none that i can think of, but if theres anything, pls dont hesitate to let me know!
1.5k words
enjoy!! :)
Aelin had been sitting in her car for the last twenty minutes, staring at the motel door. She had no idea what she was going to say to Sam, but she knew she had to say something.
Something like, “I'm sorry that your biological daughter calls another man daddy and papa.” Maybe Aelin should have put a stop to it once Olive had started calling Rowan that, but hearing Olive say daddy in her tiny voice with a wide smile on her face made Aelin's heart flutter, and the sweet look of joy when Rowan heard her say it made Aelin think that it wouldn't be too bad.
She had got caught up in the fantasy of it all, but it was hard not to be sucked down into. She still loved Rowan and they had been dating seriously for the last six months. They had been friends for five months after she saw him at the nursery, and things had been going so damned well. Rowan and Egan had moved into Aelin's place two months ago—the four bedroom house previously owned by Aelin's parents before they moved into a small home—and she got along fantastically with Egan; he had a bit more of an understanding that Aelin wasn't his biological mother, since Rowan still had the photos of Lyria during the pregnancy, and she was determined to never replace Lyria, but when he called her 'ma' or 'Lin', her face would break into a smile so big she thought that it would be a permanent fixture on her face.
Aelin wasn't stupid, however, she knew that people thought that she and Rowan were moving too fast—namely her parents and Aedion, but when she and Rowan talked about the future, it felt solid, like it wasn't just a fanciful notion, but something real that was only a few steps away from being able to hold in her hands.
She had never been with someone that was so loyal to her, someone that cared for her in the way that Rowan did. That looked past her outer beauty and saw Aelin for who she was, and encouraged her to go for what made her happy.
It wasn't always perfect, they had arguments for time to time, but they worked it out, and that had shocked Aelin at first, that Rowan actually wanted to work together to fix the issue, that he actually communicated instead of just letting the arguments fade away. It wasn't like that at all with Chaol, part of the reason why their relationship crashed and burned.
So she hardly thought twice about what it meant to have Olive call Rowan 'daddy', that to Aelin, she was just building a family and a future, but she was starkly reminded that her boyfriend indeed was not her daughters father when Olive called Rowan 'papa' in the middle of the lunch that Sam was invited to at their place and the silence that had descended between the three adults.
Aelin almost choked on the pizza that she was in the middle of inhaling when Olive said that, her daughter sitting on Rowan's lap because she had been fussy and didn't want to sit in her booster seat. Olive and Egan were blissfully unaware of the awkwardness that was emanating from Aelin, the brown haired boy paying attention only to the TV that was playing his favourite cartoon, and Olive had simply wanted more of Rowan's attention.
Aelin glanced at Sam and found that the look in his eyes was utterly unreadable, which was unusual since Sam was easy to read, but for the first time in the years that Aelin knew him, she had no idea how to decipher his expression.
Rowan had opened his mouth, to say what Aelin wasn't sure, when Sam waved him off, and resumed the conversation revolving around the classic car that Rowan was fixing in his rare free time. So Rowan, knowing that it wasn't the right place to have that conversation, continued where he left off before Olive uttered that word that had never felt wrong before but suddenly left Aelin wanting to sink into the floor.
And when Sam had left after lunch, Aelin had decided that temporarily avoiding the topic was the best move, and after helping Rowan clear the table, Aelin had given Olive a quick bath in order to think about anything else.
All Aelin had been able to think about was what if somehow, by letting Olive calling Rowan her dad, she had doomed her daughter into developing daddy issues, that she would grow up confused on how to feel about her biological father when all her life she had called another man dad.
Aelin banged her head against the steering wheel, wondering how a good, decent day had gone to a complicated mess in a matter of hours.
She stayed there for a while, until she realised that she needed to be the adult she was and left the car, knocking loudly on the white motel door.
The door flew open and Aelin was greeted by Sam, a small smile on his face. “I was wondering how long you were going to sit out there for.” Having no idea what to say to that, Aelin stayed silent and went inside when Sam invited her in.
Aelin worried at her lip, and sat at the tiny table by the TV. She truly had no idea what to say.
Sam sat across from her and took her hands in his. Aelin looked up and found nothing but openness in his warm brown eyes. “I'm not mad, if that's what you're thinking.”
Aelin blinked at him. While Sam wasn't a violent man, she wasn't expecting that. “How?” she managed to get out after a moment. “How could you not be mad? Your daughter is calling another man 'papa'.”
“I'm hardly Olive's father, Aelin, I'm aware that I'm not the most active dad, I've seen her only a handful of times since her birth and she's nearly two. It's clear that Rowan loves her, and that she loves him. I actually saw all four of you earlier today, at the park,” Sam added. “I was feeling nervous, like I always do before I see Olive, so I went to the park to have my breakfast. I heard your laugh and I turned, ready to call out to you, when I saw that you were having a picnic and I realised that you already had a family, that Rowan and Egan are your family, and that Rowan is Olive's father in the way that counts, in the way that matters, and that I'm just an intruder in your lives.”
Gripping his hands, Aelin shook her head. “Sam, you can't think like that, you're not an intruder. You're Olive's biological father, you're important.”
“And I'll always be grateful that I had a hand in creating her, but Aelin, I want you to look inside yourself and tell me truthfully, in ten years time, who do you see by your side, Olive's side? Because I know that it isn't me.” And it wasn't, Aelin didn't to look inside herself to know that. She was already thinking deeply about her future long before Sam's visit.
“I want you to know though,” Aelin said abruptly, “that I didn't deliberately set out to have Olive see Rowan as her father, that I did talk about you from time to time, but I-I don't think that she could make the connection that the voice on the end of the phone belongs to you. But I promise that if see ever asks about you, I'll tell her, I won't hide anything from her.”
“I know that you will,” Sam said, “just maybe tell her in a nice way that she's the result of a broken condom.”
Aelin laughed, feeling light for the first time since this whole thing started. “I will. Although I think I'll have to consult Google for that.”
Sam nodded, because even he knew that there were no books that could help with that conversation. “But if she never asks about me, then don't tell her.”
“Sam—”
“If Olive wants to believe for the rest of her life that Rowan is her biological father, then I'm okay with that. I'd rather her be happy than confused. Because when I heard Olive call Rowan 'papa', it felt right, like it made sense. And I know that's how you feel, too. And I know it makes no sense, but Olive somehow just looks like she's Rowan's daughter, you know? And I don't want to get in the way of that.”
Sam was far too nice for his own good. People as kind as him were hard to find. It was a miracle that in this life that she had met two men like that.
Aelin wiped at her eyes, the tears falling suddenly and fast. “How are you so nice when your father is a piece of shit?”
Sam snorted and handed her a tissue. “Years of therapy.” He took a deep breath, and in his brown eyes, the eyes that she had once fallen for so deeply, Aelin saw acceptance. “There's also something else...I was doing some soul searching before you came over, and I...I know that I'm not on the birth certificate and that I don't really have a say—”
“Sam, of course you have a say. Like I said earlier, you're Olive's biological father. You might not be on the birth certificate, but if you have opinions, then you can share them with me, I won't bite your head off.”
Sam gave her a tiny smile. “And I appreciate that, I do. But what I was going to say is this: if ever in the future Rowan wants to adopt Olive, then you and he have my blessing.”
Aelin stared at him for a long moment, letting the words sink in, and then the tears started again and Aelin's body shook with the force of her sobs. Because if Sam's father wasn't Arobynn, then she would have had the family that Sam was wholeheartedly accepting that she had with Rowan. And that he was willing to stand aside to let Olive have the father that she deserved.
Sam came over to her, hugging her to him as Aelin sobbed into his shoulder, running his hand up and down her back. Aelin had never let herself cry like this in front of him, she never really liked crying like that, but she couldn't help herself and couldn't stop herself for a long while. It was a good ten minutes later when the tears slowly subsided and Sam slowly pulled back, giving her a once over with his kind eyes.
“Are you okay?”
“Yes,” Aelin said, loudly blowing her nose with a handful of tissues. “I just...I wasn't sure what I was expecting to happen here tonight. Never did I think that you would offer something like that, Sam.”
“I would be just like Arobynn if I forced you to be unhappy, and I never want to be like him.”
“You're not,” Aelin said, “you'll never be like him. I hope one day, Sam, you'll be able to have a family of your own.”
Sam kissed her cheek, the gesture sending her back to when they were teenagers. “I hope so, too.”
Aelin stayed for a little while longer, just talking and reminiscing about the old times. And when she went home, she kissed him on the cheek, thanked him again, and told him that he would always have a special place in her heart, because without him, she wouldn't have Olive.
Sam repeated the sentiment, and wished her nothing but happiness with Rowan, and that he was glad she found him.
Aelin was glad she found Rowan, too.
Aelin walked into her house, and was greeted by two ecstatic children, acting like they hadn't seen her for years. Aelin smiled and gave them their hugs that they desperately wanted. She went over to the kitchen counter where Rowan was preparing dinner—grilled cheese, that she knew very well had veggies hidden within, because Egan acted like vegetables were the world's most evil thing to exist—and kissed him on the cheek. He kissed her temple in response, and Aelin breathed in the homely scent of him.
“How did everything go with Sam?” he asked, moving about the kitchen to start the side salad.
“Great, and there's something very important that I have to tell you.” Rowan raised a silver brow, but Aelin kissed his cheek again and promised to tell him later.
Aelin was more than ready to climb into bed and fall asleep, but she needed to tell Rowan about her conversation with Sam, so when they got settled and comfortable, Aelin told him what her ex-partner said.
Rowan was stunned for a moment, and she hadn't even told him the best part. “Truthfully, I was mentally preparing myself for Sam to punch me in the face after lunch, but to hear what he said to you, I feel like a fool for ever thinking that he would resort to that.”
“If he was more like his father, he definitely would have. But Sam is the polar opposite of Arobynn, and truly wants nothing more than for people to be happy.” Rowan smiled and took Aelin's hand in his, and Aelin relished in the comforting touch. “And there's something else,” Aelin added, and it was ridiculous, but a tiny part of her was nervous, that told her that Rowan wouldn't want Sam's blessing, that he wouldn't want to legally be Olive's father. “Sam told me that if you ever wanted to adopt Olive, then you have his blessing, because he wants nothing more than for Olive to be loved and cared for, and he sees that you're the one that can help provide her with that.”
Rowan looked at Aelin, and her own eyes watered when she saw that his were filling up. “I would be honoured to do that, Aelin. It would make me the happiest man in the world to have that privilege. And after we're married, we can start the process, and maybe one day, when Egan's a little older and he has a better understanding, you can adopt him too, because I know you like him just as much as I love Olive.”
“I do,” Aelin said, choking up. “That would be—” Aelin stopped, her mind finally catching up with what he just said. “Did you just propose to me?”
Rowan cracked a smile and kissed her. He pulled away just so, their noses touching. “Not yet, I haven't found the right ring.”
Aelin laughed joyfully, even as her tears overflowed. “Just to let you know, I'm not helping you out this time. You'll have to figure it out on your own.”
Rowan kissed her again and again. “Don't worry, I've already got a few choices in mind.”
“Good. Make sure its sparkles.”
“I will,” Rowan said, and took her into his arms.
It wasn't too bad of a day, after all.

When Lin was 14 she would spend most of her time with Azula and Ty lee so one time they were sparring and Lin jumped wrong and fell to dodge one of Azula's flames. Talk about really concerned "parents". It took Lin days to convince Azula that it was okay but of course Azula didn't believe her but didn't push the girl.
When they went to the Fire Nation palace healer they took a X-ray on Lin's arm seeing that there was a few fractures that happened before the fall, Azula starts to be really concerned now and starts questioning the healer, anyways Lin of course has a cast.
When they get home Azula tells Ty lee about the old fractures and they question Lin about them. She tells them that she has hurt her arm plenty of times while sparring with Toph and Su, but Toph just brushes her off and tells her she will be fine.
Azula and Ty lee were furious, but of course Azula was the one to confront Toph. The confrontation doesn't go that well because of course Toph just doesn't care. She ends up telling Azula that "She's living right? That's all that matters", and proceeds to close the door on Azula.
When Azula gets back home she definitely thinks of getting legal custody of Lin and talks to Ty lee about it. Ty lee agrees and they had a "family meeting" with Lin to ask her if she wanted to be in their own little family. Of course Lin said yes, Azula and Ty lee pulled a few strings and signed the papers to "adopt" Lin.
After a few months a knock comes from their door, Ty lee opened and and there was Toph Beifong with 8 year old Suyin behind her. "So your just gonna snatch my kid?" Toph says in a sarcastic voice. Ty lee looks down at her with confidence "Yes we did, is there a problem with that?" Ty lee replies back dryly.
"Didn't say there was a problem just tell Lin to get out here so she can get her junk" Toph rolls her eyes. Ty lee let's out a frustrated breath and calls Lin to get her things even though she didn't need it. Suyin kinda stood back a little and watched, Lin glared at her causing Su to turn and go wait in the car.
While waiting in the car Suyin realized that she no longer has a sister and is now an only child.
AHHHHH MY HEART I LOVE THIS SO MUCH THANK YOU YESSSS
Tumblr media
the right moment Azula finds out Lin is being neglected by Toph she goes don't talk to me or my daughter ever again and i love it so much
now imagine Lin moves in with them and the very first thing Azula and Ty Lee do is take her to a full medical check because who knows what the hell this kid has in her body. they do find some things in her back, shoulders and legs and they are enraged, but rather protect the kid other that beat up her mom they'll do it when they have the chance tho

CW: PTSD mention  Michiko, Reiki, Nozomi, and Krow are my OCs. Reiki is genderfluid and goes by she/him pronouns.
here you go @deepinthefog here is the rest of the dialogues
please read below the cut
Michiko: Just how sharp are your teeth Baraka?
Baraka: Sharp enough to tear through your bones.
Michiko: I’d like to see you try.
Michiko: So how long have tarkatans been around?
Baraka: Long before either of your kind.
Michiko: That’s not what the books in Fuyuka’s temple say.
Michiko: You may have blades, Baraka, but I have saws!
Baraka: But aren’t you scared of-
Michiko: werenotgonnatalkaboutthat!
---
Michiko: Cassie….Cage is it?
Cassie: The one and only!
Michiko: Oh good! Thought I had the wrong Cassie for a minute there.
Michiko: Did you and your dad really come up with “ship names” for Reiki and I?
Cassie: Yup! I propose the idea of… FireFox!
Michiko: .. oh by the gods.
Michiko: I heard someone’s got a little crush on a certain ice gal.
Cassie: Who told you I liked Frost?
Michiko: You did!
---
Michiko: For the last time. I. am not. From. the Netherrealm!
Cetrion: But wasn’t your mother a corrupted Nymph?
Michiko: Both my parents were corrupted and none of them are from the Netherrealm.
Michiko: Were you one of the Gods responsible for the massacre of the Karasugawas?
Cetrion: No, but I know of the Gods who were.
Michiko: Names. Now!
Michiko: Why are you crying?
Cetrion: I can sense great pain in you young one
Michiko: please don’t read any further…
---
Michiko: Did you seriously try to stab my fiancé!?
D’vorah: She tried burning the hive
Michiko: You keep your hive the fuck away from her!
Michiko: Are you seriously trying to say that you’re the one responsible for the massacre of the Karasugawas?
D’vorah: And this one will finish the job!
Michiko: Nice try D’vorah, but I know bugs hate fire.
Michiko: You hate fire, but do you like ice?
D’vorah: This one would like it to see a demonstration.
Michiko: Then you’re gonna get one!
---
Michiko: I have found something other than buzzsaws that I hate
Erron: And would that be, Michiko?
Michiko: Guns! Why are they so loud!?
Michiko: For the last time, I did not lie about what happened between me and Bi Han.
Erron: I was told y'all hooked up at the tournament.
Michiko: What idiot told you that?
Michiko: How much did my brother pay you?
Erron: He paid me half a million to bring ya home.
Michiko: So how much would I need to pay you to drop this hunt?
---
Michiko: I’m sorry, you want me to what!?
Frost: Take me with you and Reiki!
Michiko: Are you really willing to leave everything behind?
-
Michiko: Alright kid, rule number one, no keeping secrets
Frost: What if I just don’t want to talk about something?
Michiko: I can respect that.
-
Michiko: I need to know exactly what my brother and Bi Han have said about me.
Frost: All good things.
Michiko: I think you and I have two very different version of good things.
---
Michiko: Step aside Fujin.
Fujin: Whatever Cetrion told you, was a lie!
Michiko: I’VE SEEN THE DAMAGE DONE BY YOUR BROTHER AND THAT FIRE GOD!
-
Michiko: Do you still think I can achieve humanity Fujin?
Fujin: You were raised as one, so yes.
Michiko: Oh was I?
-
Michiko: Ok but like, do you know any Elder God that would bless Reiki and I?
Fujin: Michiko, they've been slaughtered by Cetrion.
Michiko: …. Oh. Damnit!
---
Michiko: Hey, how old would you say I look?
Geras: Without the knowledge of your origins, I say 31.
Michiko: You’re actually right.
-
Michiko: What does a demon benefit from a titan?
Geras: What did the Nymphs do for the Gods?
Michiko: Everything, with nothing in return.
-
Michiko: if there is no assurance for Reiki’s safety then I cannot work for Kronika
Geras: What if I told you, she could return your bloodline to you?
Michiko: I could not live with myself if Reiki were to die.
---
Michiko: How do you plan a wedding?
Jacqui: still working on that myself
Michiko: ah damn. Good luck though.
-
Michiko: Do you have any more relationship tips?
Jacqui: Boundaries and communication are key.
Michiko: We got the boundaries covered
-
Michiko: Normally I wouldn’t say this, but your arm enhamencents are cool!
Jacqui: What do you mean, normally?
Michiko: Have you seen what happened to the Lin Kuei?
---
Michiko: Where did you find all that information from
Jade: In a hidden temple on Shang Tsung’s Island
Michiko: So that’s where it is. I’ll have to inform Nozomi.
-
Michiko: So, why did you want to know if I worked for Quan Chi or not?
Jade: To see if you were friend or foe.
Michiko: I think you Mama Nozomi would get along.
-
Michiko: Ok, look, I’m not gonna beat in Hanzo’s head with your staff.
Jade: Then who’s head are you going to beat in?
Michiko: Sektor’s.
---
Michiko: What’s the worst form of therapy one could get?
Jax: Electric shock the-Michiko?
Michiko: I didn’t mean to I didn’t mean to I didn’t mean to I didn’t mean to I didn’t mean
-
Michiko: If you must know, my brother, Sektor, used to call me little birdie
Jax: Oh, is that still a good thing?
Michiko: Yeah it is. But you’re not telling him that!
-
Michiko: How’d you lose your arms?
Jax: It’s a long three part story.
Michiko: I have time.
---
Michiko: I never said you were cooler, I just don’t argue with children.
Johnny: You’re one to talk, kid!
Michiko: Fight me old man!
-
Michiko: So, what nickname should I give you?
Johnny: How about, Mr. Cool guy? No no! Superstar!
Michiko: I got it! How about, foolish star!
-
Michiko: Here you go!
Johnny: What is it?
Michiko: an invite to mine and Reiki’s wedding.
---
Michiko: The difference between life essence and souls is, you can live without one. Kabal: Which one?
Michiko: Would you like to find out?
-
Michiko: Just how fast are you?
Kabal: Faster than the speed of light.
Michiko: I would be impressed if I knew how fast that was.
-
Michiko: Your speed, my snow drift, let’s go! Kabal: When and Where?
Michiko: Right here! Right now!
---
Michiko: I’m sorry, my brother paid you HOW MUCH!?
Kano: Poor blokes desperate to get ya home.
Michiko: My home is with Reiki!
-
Michiko: Um, Kano, I’m not gonna bring you the medallion
Kano: Not like anyone would know you’ve gone back.
Michiko: That thing almost broke and I died the last time I touched it. So no!
-
Michiko: Look, if Reiki gets hurt, deals off
Kano: Look, Shang Tsung just need a bit of Reiki’s fire and we’ll be good to go
Michiko: Ok deal’s definitely off! When the hell was he involved?
---
Michiko: So you were adopted too?
Kitana: In my circumstances, unfortunately.
Michiko: Ouch! I feel that.
-
Michiko: Hey, who told you that I was called a princess?
Kitana: Noob Saibot.
Michiko: Oh of course he- wait what!?
-
Michiko: Reiki and I appreciate your refuge
Kitana: Must you go already Michiko?
Michiko: Until the hunt stops, Reiki and I must travel.
---
Michiko: Hey Kollector! Here’s your coin!
Kollector: I’ll teach you to throw ice balls!
Michiko: And I’ll teach you to try and mess with my mate!
-
Michiko: If you should know, I am a balance of both
Kollecter: I would still like my wage
Michiko: Ha! Fat chance!
-
Michiko: I would never be ally to those who hurt my Reiki
Kollector: She’s a seer and a Nymph! Do you not know the value she is worth?
Michiko: She’s my fiance!
---
Michiko: So you and Jade had history?
Kotal Kahn: It’s a long story.
Michiko: I don’t think there’s much story there.
-
Michiko: Give this to Kitana for me
Kotal Kahn: Why can’t you do it?
Michiko: I just learned a shadow is now after me, so I gotta dip.
-
Michiko: Heard you got defeated in the Snow Forest
Kotal Kahn: Sub-Zero and his Lin Kuei outclassed my legion
Michiko: Be lucky you encountered him, and not me
---
Michiko: You’re not standing in my way
Kung Lao: I can’t let you attack the temple of elements
Michiko: I have an appointment with two Gods, SO MOVE IT!
-
Michiko: If you have see my brother, turn him away
Kung Lao: Now why would I do that? He has to pay for Shaolin lives!
Michiko: Turn him away before he picks up on mine and Reiki’s trail!
-
Michiko: I wish I would’ve met Bo’ Rai Cho sooner
Kung Lao: I’m just still surprised that you managed to out drink him.
Michiko: That’s because he gave me regular alcohol instead of demon elixir.
---
Michiko: If you don’t move I will kill you
Liu Kang: Michiko, the monks, they can-
Michilko: I DON’T CARE, MOVE!
-
Michiko: Reiki’s fire is hotter than yours!
Liu Kang: A fire hotter than dragon’s fire?
Michiko: Hotter and deadlier!
-
Michiko: How does Bo’ Rai Cho hold that much alcohol?
Liu Kang: How did you not get drunk at all?
Michiko: I’m a demon. Regular alcohol doesn’t affect me
---
Michiko: You, Tanya, Reiki and me, double date!
Mileena: Ooh yes!
Michiko: Sweet! Tonight at 8?
-
Michiko: Bi Han and I never dated. We were just close before I died.
Mileena: He said you two made a promise.
Michiko: A promise that no longer means anything to me.
-
Michiko: Hey, thanks for not calling me a nymph in a mocking way
Mileena: Thanks for not calling me an ugly monster.
Michiko: That’s it. We’re friends and you’re gonna tell me everything bothering you
---
Michiko: I have had it! Move or die!
Nightwolf: I cannot not let you attack the gods!
Michiko: MY ONLY ISSUE IS WITH RAIDEN AND THE FIRE GOD!
-
Michiko: I don’t need your pity, and I don’t need your counsel!
Nightwolf: If you would let the Great Spirit help-
Michiko: Help me or hinder me from the truth?
-
Michiko: I hate that place and would rather it burn like my old home once did
Nightwolf: You would rather have innocents suffer over your anger?
Michiko: Why don’t you take the hourglass, go back about 31 years, and tell the two gods that!
---
Michiko: Keep the fuck away from Reiki!
Noob Saibot: I’m just trying to protect you!
Michiko: Protect me from what?
-
Michiko: You best keep my name out of your goddamn mouth, Bi Han!
Noob Saibot: You and I made a promise! It is best to honor that!
Michiko: That promise and our friendship was a mistake!
-
Michiko: I’m only letting you help cause Nozomi’s making me.
Noob Saibot: Oh she’s definitely Quan Chi’s daughter.
Michiko: Hey! We don’t say his name around her, got it?
---
Michiko: I want to tell you a little story.
Raiden: This should be interesting.
Michiko: It's a story of how two angry, petty, benevolent gods destroyed a bloodline and a village, leaving only one little girl to suffer the aftermath.
-
Michiko: You know of the lost realms?
Raiden: Someone I called my family was from one of those realms.
Michiko: It wouldn’t happen to be Krow of Hinpar would it?
-
Michiko: I’m not going to kill you! I just want my family back!
Raiden: I can’t do that-
Michiko: YOU OFFERED TO BRING BACK THE SHIRAI RYU! WHAT MAKES BRINGING BACK THE BLOODLINE YOU DESTROYED ANY DIFFERENT!?
-
Michiko: You’ve dealt with a cryomancer, but have you dealt with an ice demon?
Rain: What’s the difference?
Michiko: THERE ARE SEVERAL!
-
Michiko: I’m not buying that you want me as your ally for one minute.
Rain: If I made you my servant, Nozomi would kill me.
Michiko: Ok, that I can believe.
-
Michiko: in case no one told you, I don’t worship. I work with
Rain: You best treat Nozomi like the Goddess she is you imp!
Michiko: Hey! Watch it with that word!
---
Michiko: Don’t try to stop me Hasashi!
Scorpion: I’ve lost my family too Michiko. This is not the way to go about it.
Michiko: You at least got to know them before they died!
-
Michiko: You weren’t entirely wrong about it being of a Nymph, but why did you guess that?
Scorpion: Because Reiki is of Nymph origins too, and your ice matches his fire.
Michiko: I… I haven’t thought of it that way.
-
Michiko: Hasashi, look, I appreciate your offer, but I can’t accept.
Scorpion: Reiki grew up in the Shirai Ryu! You’d fit right in!
Michiko: I have my daughter to consider too, Hanzo.
---
Michiko: Unbind my thoughts from Sektor’s now!
Shang Tsung: And if I refuse?
Michiko: You won’t live to take another soul.
-
Michiko: I will bring my family back! And you can’t stop me!
Shang Tsung: Why would I want to stop you? I find your in vain efforts amusing.
Michiko: You’re lying! The Karasugawas will be restored!
-
Michiko: Have you found my soul yet, Tsung?
Shang Tsung: Don’t you dare mock me, you pompous little imp!
Michiko: THAT’S IT! NO MORE MS. NICE DEMON!
---
Michiko: No Nymph nor demon would ever serve you
Shao Kahn: You and your Nymph wife will do so imp! Michiko: HE IS MY MATE AND YOU’RE A DEAD MAN!
-
Michiko: I may not consume souls. But I do eat life essence
Shao Kahn: What’s the difference?
Michiko: I’ll show you!
-
Michiko: Let me use your hammer
Shao Kahn: Ah! And why would I let a weak puny mortal touch my hammer?
Michiko: I’ll freeze you in a block of ice and kick you into the void if you don’t give me the hammer.
---
Michiko: I don’t care how much the Lin Kuei needs me, I’m not going back!
Sheeva: You would abandon your home? Your friends?
Michiko: They can handle themselves!
-
Michiko: Thanks for the training lessons
Sheeva: You certainly do not hold back
Michiko: Fight to the death or die fighting!
-
Michiko: Have you ever had a lover you fought for?
Sheeva: A queen I failed to protect
Michiko: I’m sure she holds no ill will towards you Sheeva
---
Michiko: Hey don’t worry, I’m not gonna take your screaming title.
Sindel: You can keep it!
Michiko: Aww, not even a friendly competition?
-
Michiko: Kitana Kahn of Outworld says she’d like to see you sometime
Sindel: That is wonderful to hear.
Michiko: I also know of a four armed queen that would like your company too
-
Michiko: Hey, you should go talk to Sheeva sometime
Sindel: But would she want to see me?
Michiko: I know she misses you more than anything.
---
Michiko: Sorry Skarlet, my blood’s not compatible.
Skarlet: I need no type. Just blood
Michiko: Ah, so you’re a type O.
-
Michiko: Wait, you’re of nymph origin too?
Skarlet: Blood nymphs.
Michiko: Huh, you really don’t hear about them a lot.
-
Michiko: You and Nozomi have really cool blood-bending!
Skarlet: You know of another blood bender?
Michiko: Nozomi is the best there is!
---
Michiko: You better back down Blade!
Sonya: Your God hunt ends here Karasugawa!
Michiko: Raiden got your future self killed! Why do you defend him?
-
Michiko: I will not repeat myself. I’m not going back.
Sonya: But Grandmaster Sub-Zero has specifically requested your help.
Michiko: He of all people should know why I cannot go back.
-
Michiko: How do I make my own legacy if I don’t want kids?
Sonya: You inspire others to be like you.
Michiko: I am the worst demon to follow. It’s not going to work.
---
Michiko: I can’t help you Kuai, I just can’t.
Sub-Zero: I know our last encounter with Sektor was shocking, bu-
Michiko: I didn’t mean to I didn’t mean to I didn’t mean to I didn’t mean to I didn’t mean
-
Michiko: Will you please get your brother off my back!
Sub-Zero: Michiko, you know Bi Han won’t listen to me.
Michiko: Not even as the Grandmaster?
-
Michiko: Where I was and where I will go is none of your concern Liang
Sub-Zero: Michiko please. Don’t leave me in the dark.
Michiko: It is best nobody knows.
---
Michiko: WHY CAN’T YOU LEAVE ME ALONE!?
Sektor: WHY YOU CAN’T COME BACK HOME!?
Michiko: You.. You really don’t understand do you?
-
Michiko: I won’t come back, but I will invite you to my wedding
Sektor: Thank you sister.
Michiko: Don’t push your luck.
-
Michiko: Was the binding of our minds really “fathers” idea
Sektor: Not entirely..
Michiko: I KNEW IT!
---
Michiko: When do you plan on marrying Sektor?
Cyrax: Sometime in the summer.
Michiko: Very specific Mykel.
-
Michiko: So.. how’s life as a cyborg going?
Cyrax: Awful.
Michiko: Thanks for the update!
-
Michiko: Hey, where’s past you?
Cyrax: Probably trying to flirt with Shi in the worst ways possible
Michiko: As if you don’t do that now.
---
Michiko: Hey, I may be leaving for good, but I promise you I-
Smoke: Wait, you’re leaving for good!?
Michiko: Tomas I have made it clear so many times that I do not like this place.
-
Michiko: Would you like to come to my wedding?
Smoke: Like to? I have to! I’m your bridesmaid.
Michiko: umm… that’s going to Frost..
-
Michiko: Hydro been over training you too, huh?
Smoke: Speak for yourself Karasugawa!
Michiko: At least he has a reason to do so with me.
---
Michiko: Can we take a break?
Hydro: Not until you master your ice
Michiko: I’VE MASTERED IT FOR NEARLY A DECADE NOW!
Michiko: Look, I appreciate your concern Bo Hai, but please don’t worry
Hydro: What if Reiki snaps and loses control of her fire? Michiko: That’s the beautiful thing about her, she’s not a monster like me.
-
Michiko: Where have you been all this time?
Hydro: Hunting your killers down.
Michiko: But, Hydro, I died in the tunnels below the temple.
---
Michiko: Ok, 1, didn’t realize you were flirting with me, and 2, I’m engaged
Sareena: Demons and Nymphs never work well together.
Michiko: I’M A NYMPH TOO!
-
Michiko: Your efforts are but in vain Vixen!
Sareena: Don’t you have the fox-like animal form?
Michiko: That’s not the point!
-
Michiko: You said there were other ways to release my pent of rage?
Sareena: Yes..
Michiko: Can any of them help me take down two gods?

Since when young Tenzin is underloved? His dad loved him the best and treated him as the special one and his mom adores him and maybe his siblings would give him shit when they were kids because they were jealous but he had Lin as a good friend and then he cheated on her with a 20yrs younger woman. The guy gets as much loved as he deserves
Hi, anon! So there’s a few things to unpack here, so I’ll try to be as concise as I can. This is pretty much what I think Tenzin’s childhood was really like and why he should be appreciated just as much as Bumi and Kya. Also with Kataang TLOK parenting thrown in. I’m pretty tired and don’t wanna edit an essay, so I apologize if it rambles.
Also, I’m not gonna touch the whole Tenzin cheating point. I’m fairly certain that that’s just objectively wrong. Everything else I’m more than happy to discuss, though:D
To be clear, when I say I feel like Tenzin is under-loved, I mean by the fandom (and by TLOK, but to a smaller degree). Under-appreciated might be a better word. Or under-explored? Idk. I just know that Tenzin’s childhood—just his—doesn’t get the attention it deserves. Outside of Tenzin having some angsty one-on-one’s with Aang (which I love, make no mistake!), I don’t see a lot fleshing out his childhood. Bumi and Kya get a lot of it, though (or the kids as a whole, but nothing that’s just Tenzin’s).
I don’t subscribe to the idea that Aang treated Tenzin as “the special one.” Bumi and Kya being jealous—in the way that seems to be the majority consensus—of Tenzin when they were kids is a bit hard for me to imagine, too. I try to stick to canon as much as I can, but, for some things, I have to draw the line. There has to be evidence, not just anecdote, otherwise I hc it into oblivion. I’m not saying their feelings in TLOK aren’t valid. They absolutely are, and Aang would never want those feelings to be invalidated. Children just retain things differently. A traumatic accident could have no effect on them but falling in the shower and bumping their head might. Developing brains are weird.
I can see Kya and Bumi giving Tenzin some shit when they were kids (Tenzin does admit that Kya picked on him), but I highly doubt that was any more/less than normal sibling rivalry and Cain Instinct. Sure, Aang might have given Tenzin attention for being an airbender, but he gave Kya and Bumi attention for being a waterbender and a non-bender, too. To me, it’s like having siblings who play different sports. Just because dad went to every one of my sister’s soccer games doesn’t mean he didn’t attend every one of my basketball games. The hyperfixation on airbending in TLOK makes it sound like that was all Aang cared about, but even in ATLA we can see that that isn’t true. If it was, then he would have kicked out the mechanist from the Northern Air Temple.
To say that Aang loved Tenzin the best is to imply that he loved his other children poorly, which isn’t true in the slightest. I can entertain the argument that he spent more one-on-one time with Tenzin, but that could be attributed to different children with different personalities having different wants and different needs for validation from their parents. And I will gladly defend it, even though I personally hc otherwise.
It’s hard to talk about Tenzin without also talking about Aang and Katara, so bear with me here:
Tenzin and Kya:
Tenzin was the last airbender besides Aang. Kya was the last waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe besides Katara. To assume Aang treated Tenzin as the “special one” because he’s an airbender would, if using the same logic, mean assuming Katara treated Kya as the “special one” for being a waterbender.
I’ve never understood why The Southern Water Tribe being inherited by the Kataang kids isn’t as big of a deal as Air Nomad culture. Both of them were recovering cultures on the brink of extinction, so they both have a lot of pressure for the kids to live up to.
Plus, if Sokka had a right of passage for being a Water Tribe warrior, then who’s to say there wasn’t a right of passage for Kya, specifically, for being a waterbender? She would be the special one, there. And maybe Tenzin struggled with his two heritages because being an Air Nomad meant being vegetarian but being Water Tribe meant using dead fish to go penguinsledding?
Tenzin and Learning too soon:
Tenzin probably learned about his responsibility of carrying the legacy of the airbenders at a very, very young age. Aang and Katara probably tried their hardest to wait until he was older to tell him (a-la Gyatso wanting to wait until Aang was older for him to carry the burden of being the airbenders’—and the world’s—last hope, too), but it was unavoidable. It was a part of the world’s history, and the aftermath of the war wasn’t exactly something a kid could avoid. Plus, I’m sure Aang wanted to correct airbender history as it was taught in schools as soon as he got the opportunity after the war.
Tenzin just has the abstract “idea” of what his bending culture was like when it was alive and well. Aang has memories to draw upon from which to imagine the future that the airbenders needed to rebuild towards. Tenzin gets second-hand notes.
Tenzin also didn’t have a baseline by which to measure if he was a “good airbender.” He had only Aang to compare himself to. ONLY AANG. This is talked about in TLOK but only in regards to Aang being his dad, if I’m not mistaken. But Aang isn’t just Tenzin’s dad. Aang is his father, the Avatar, and the youngest airbender to get his master’s tattoos. That’s a LOT more to live up to than just being his kid. And it’s the only thing Tenzin has to compare himself to to measure whether or not he’s a good airbender. I’m shocked that his spiritual ineptitude isn’t more of a haunting issue for him, quite frankly.
Tenzin and Bullying:
Tenzin didn’t have any airbenders his age (anyone like him) growing up. Even Aang had a childhood with other airbenders. As a father, Aang was as playful as a kid, sure, but, to a child, it isn’t quite the same because they don’t share that special bond of growing together and having a shared upbringing.
Katara can especially empathize with this.
Airbending is the element of fun. It’s kindof hard to express/embrace that facet of the element if Tenzin is the only one his age who can wield it.
I can almost guarantee that Tenzin got voted out of playing with other kids at least a few times because he was the only airbender (and that would make teams unfair). He probably learned to play by himself. That would certainly make him serious. Toph would probably teach him how to entertain himself, too. And that might lead to Tenzin and Lin hanging out. Who knows?
I honestly think Tenzin was bullied quite a bit (and not by Kya and Bumi), and that the bullying attributed to his demeanor as he grew up. Him cowering from Kya or running from his siblings when they picked on him was an exasperation of what he was probably dealing with outside his home.
In the recent comic with Katara and the pirates, we see a Fire Nation soldier flaunt some pretty nasty ideas about the Air Nomads because of Sozin’s propaganda. I don’t think that 15 years (or however long Tenzin was born after the war) is going to reverse that. Tenzin was probably picked on for being an airbender in addition to being the Avatar’s kid.
If the rise of fashion post-war was as fast-growing as industry, I can imagine kid-Tenzin being made fun of for being bald (even though it was part of his religion/culture) and for dressing in robes when the world, especially Republic City, was beginning to adopt different clothes.
Tenzin is an incredibly tender soul around those he loves but also incredibly serious around his adversaries. He has a soft inside and an armored shell, and that thick skin is usually forged through unsavory interactions. And he definitely interacted with plenty of normal kids his age. Aang missed the chance after the ice, and Katara was the only one her age in her village besides (kindof) Sokka. There’s no way Aang and Katara would keep their kids cooped up and strictly homeschooled. At the very least, Toph would bust them out if they did.
Tenzin and Katara:
Now, I’m not saying that Tenzin blames Aang because he obviously doesn’t. But Aang has memories of what airbender life was like, and Tenzin has only dreams. Honestly, it’s like he’s caught in the situation Aang was in when he was a young Avatar. They both have to live up to something that was pretty much just a legend. How could Tenzin possibly be expected to compare himself to something like that and be peachy fine? Aang wasn’t. So maybe, just maybe, Aang and Katara decided to have Tenzin go on private trips with Aang so Tenzin could understand that part of himself that was so hard for him to get? Inner peace is pretty dang hard to think about with THAT much pressure.
And yes, it was Aang and Katara who decided on the trips. I will not for a second believe that 1.) Aang would make that kind of decision without her input or 2.) that Katara would let one of her kids get private time with dad that would even potentially give the illusion of favoritism.
Katara knew how important one-on-one time with a parent was to some kids. This is why she tells Sokka to go see Hakoda instead of her in Ba Sing Se. She saw not only how much Sokka wanted but how much he NEEDED to see their dad. Sokka and Tenzin were both caught in a “passing of the torch” scenario (tbh, the scene where Aang tells Tenzin that he’s proud of him in the Spirit World reminds me of when Hakoda tells Sokka that he’s proud of him during the invasion when he’s injured. In both instances, it kindof solidifies the official passing of the torch).
“You didn’t love her like I did”—Katara learned pretty quick in tsr about how incredibly toxic the assumption of loving or being loved more/less was. She would never under any circumstance agree to anything that would show favoritism to one of her children. Absolutely no way. Aang and Katara are a team, and to villainize one for favoritism is to villainize the other.
Tenzin and Yue:
Tenzin had a stressful upbringing. I would even make the argument that he and Yue had a similar time trying to conform to a responsibility that they were told/learned about at a too young age. Their mindsets are very similar—responsibility even at the sacrifice of their own wants and happiness and an overwhelming love for their father.
Tenzin: “I have a responsibility to Republic City.” Yue: “I have a duty to my Tribe.”
They were both determined to love and carry on the legacy of their father and their people, but they did it in their own way. They both struggled with their responsibilities from an extremely young age.
Finishing thoughts I guess:
*********************************************
I can imagine a young Tenzin crying and trying to hide from the world that was shoving its weight onto his shoulders, and who, when Aang finds him hiding in the bison stables or somewhere similar, cringes away from Aang for a split second before recognizing his father and holding on so tight that it hurt. Aang tried his damnedest to teach Tenzin airbending and the responsibility of being the last airbender when Aang was gone, but even he knew that he couldn’t keep the weight of the world off of Tenzin forever. Aang never got that chance when he was told he was the Avatar. He heard the monks say that he was “the airbenders’ last hope” because storm clouds were gathering. Young Tenzin probably felt just as hopeless. The one-on-one trips he took with Aang were specifically to the places Aang had visited in S1 when he was still recovering from realizing that he was the last airbender. Maybe Aang took Tenzin with him one-on-one, just the two of them, to drive home the message that Tenzin was not the last airbender like Aang had been?
“I-I’m just one kid…I can’t. I…I-I’m just—”
“Shhh, shhh, shhh…I know, buddy. I know. But you’re my kid, too. You’re my entire world.”
“Everyone says I’m—”
“Don’t worry about them. They’re not here.”
“B-But—”
“But? What but? Are you hiding someone in your sleeping bag, Breeze-Butt?”
“N…No…”
“And do you see anyone else here?”
“…No.”
“That’s right. So don’t worry about them. It’s just you and me right now, okay? Just breathe. There you go. Just like I taught you—You’re doing so well, bud. Shhh…You’re okay. You’re not just one kid. You’re Tenzin. And you’re my son. You and your brother and sissy are my entire world. I love you so, so much...Oh, see? There’s that million-yuan smile!”
“…Thanks, Daddy. Love you.”
“Love you more. Do you want to try going in the water again? Or we can stay up here if you like. Whatever you want.”
“I wanna try again. But…But maybe just a small fish? I don’t wanna fall off again…I-I can’t do the air-chute yet…and the water hurt.”
“I’ll round up the smallest koi there is. I’ll sit right behind you, too. How’s that sound? I won’t let you fall.”
“Okay!”
*********************************************
Maybe this has been said before idk. These are just my thoughts on Kataang parents and Tenzin. I retcon the entire Kataang family as it’s presented in TLOK, but this is how I imagine it going down in canon.
This isn’t an attack on any person or fandom btw! I just think Tenzin isn’t as appreciated as the airbean deserves😞 He’s been through so much😭
If there’s a secret stash of young Tenzin appreciation content somewhere, please share!  I might be looking in the wrong places for Tenzin love, and I would love nothing more than to be wrong, honestly. So, please, if there’s a secret stash, yeet me that link!!

Angstpril day 18 - Children fight their parents’ wars
AU where Kya has an adopted daughter and Lin has a son from a one night stand.
"Mum..?" Leo asked shyly.
"Yes, honey?" Lin asked without lifting her gaze from the newspaper.
"How do you ask somebody out?" This question, however, did make Lin look at her son.
"Why do you ask?"
"There is this girl at the school... She's a couple of years older than me and she's really pretty. I've never talked to her and she's kinda popular so..." he trailed off.
"...so you're afraid to ask her out?" Lin finished the sentence. The boy nodded. "Listen, kid. If there's anything I've ever learnt about love is that you can't be afraid to make a move. If you hesitate, it might be too late."
"But what if I get rejected!?" Leo exclaimed.
"Then at least you'll have a clear answer," Lin responded surely. "It's better than chasing wrong person for too long..." she added bitterly. He looked at her suspiciously, but didn't dig on the matter. He knew his mom didn't like talking about her past, let alone her lovelife. Instead, he went to his room and contemplated on the advice he got from his mother.
~~~
"Lily, hurry up! You're going to be late!" Kya shouted to her daughter, who was pushing the last piece of toast into her mouth. They closed the house and went into the sato mobile.
"I can't believe you overslept again," Kya said with disapproval, driving the sato. "I won't always have time to drive you to school, you know?"
"Yes, but today you do," Lily responded with an innocent smile.
When they arrived to the school grounds, Kya kissed her daughter goodbye and said,
"Have fun!"
"Yeah, cause school is soo much fun," Lily responded sarcastically, as she got out of the vehicle.
~~~
Leo was standing in the corridor and so it happened that Lily was passing by. He followed her with his eyes as she got to her locker. He took a deep breath, wiped the sweat from his hands into his trousers and came up to her.
"HI!" he said maybe a little bit too loudly. His face got beet red in an instant.
"Oh, hi," Lily responded politely.
"Hi, um... Hi, I'm Leo," he stuttered awkwardly.
"I'm Lily, nice to meet you," she answered kindly, to Leo's surprise.
"Nice to meet you, too!!" again, too loud. He cleared his throat and, now in socially accepted volume, he said, "listen, I... I thought maybe we should... more like... we could... like, you know, maybe... hang out?"
"You think we could like you know hang out?" Lily said smiling playfully, to which Leo started to sweat even more profoundly, if it was even possible.
"Oh... Okay, I see... sorry for bothering you then..." he said resigned and started turning around, but suddenly Lily grabbed his wrist and said laughing,
"Don't go! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel bad," she admitted. "And what would you offer we did?" Leo gazed at her surprised.
"Um, I was thinking, maybe bowling?"
"Bowling? I have never even been to a bowling alley," she responded surprised.
"A first time for everything," he responded with a shy smile.
"All right," Lily decided. "Sunday at 5? I'll make the reservation."
"All right!" Leo exclaimed happily. Lily smiled to him one last time before walking to class. He had never felt so light.
~~~ 3 months later ~~~
"Remember the rules?" Lin asked sternly.
"Yes, mum... Open door, blah blah blah... But come on, she's just my friend! We didn't even... You know..."
"Kiss?" Lin guessed with a grin.
"Yeah," Leo admitted. "So please, mum, don't be weird."
"Sorry, kid, can't do."
Leo groaned. Then, the doorbell rang. The boy gasped.
"Seriously, though, don't make me look like an idiot," he pleaded walking to the door.
"I don't really have to, you're doing a bang up job yourself!" she shouted jokingly at her son. Leo prayed that Lily didn't hear that.
He opened the door, greeted Lily and hung her coat. Then, they went to the living room so that Lin could finally meet her son's friend. When she saw the girl, she couldn't shake the feeling that she knows her from somewhere.
"Mum, this is my friend Lily. Lily, this is my mum, Lin," Leo introduced them to each other.
Then it clicked.
"Lily? Are you Kya's daughter?" Lin asked suspiciously.
"Y-yes! Do you know my mum?" Lily asked excitedly.
"Unfortunately," Lin said bitterly.
"All right, so um, we're gonna go to my room now," Leo said quickly. As they were leaving the room, he sent his mother a glare.
~~~
"You have to stop this!" Lin shouted at her son. Lily had already went home, so now Lin could give her son the lecture. "You can't be meeting with her anymore!"
"What?! Why?!" Leo exclaimed furiously.
"Because I'm telling you so!" His mother yelled.
"This is no reason! What is your problem with her?! You didn't even get to know her! Is it about her being a daughter of... what was her name?"
"Kya. And yes, actually, it is," Lin admitted not only to her son's surprise, but also to her own.
"How is that relevant?" Leo asked, genuinely curious. They weren't shouting at each other anymore.
"Kya and I have a... difficult past," Lin started. "Well, Kya and I... we were together." Leo gasped. "And we were rather good couple, until she kissed someone else."
"Oh shit," Leo whispered, to which Lin chuckled slightly.
"Yeah... So now you see why you can't hang out with Lily"
"But, mum, she's not Kya..." Leo tried to defend his friend but was quickly cut off by his mother.
"But she's raised by Kya. It's impossible to have principles, being raised by someone who has none." After a while of silence, Leo tried again.
"Haven't you considered that Kya could have changed?"
"Even if, what's happened, happened. And I'm not able to forgive her." When her son did say anything, she stressed. "Never again will you meet with Kya's daughter. That is final."

So, you often describe Olivia as called to SVU, and I think that’s right. The Olivia we know is meant to be at SVU, it’s in her blood as she says. The biggest driving force for her joining SVU is, of course, her mother’s rape, but also the abuse/neglect suffered as a child. But what if Serena gave Olivia up for adoption and she was raised in a happy, loving home? And because of that maybe she doesn’t feel the need to go looking for her biological family or because of the time, just doesn’t know she was adopted.
Obviously this changes the fundamental foundation of the show lol but do you think she still ends up in SVU? Is she still called but doesn’t have an easily accessible explanation as to why? Does it take her longer to get there because she can’t really explain that darkness in her and has difficulty grappling with it? If not SVU, than what? Does she still meet Elliot? Is she able have healthy relationships when she’s younger ‘cause men aren’t an escape from her unhappy childhood, but like, just normal kid dating and relationships? Does she rock up married as well when she meet Elliot?
Anyway my doggo woke me up v early this morning and since I couldn’t go back to sleep I just asked myself all these questions so now I’m sharing.
these questions are so good
here's the thing, right. is that we are, all of us, the product of our experiences and the people that we have known. some things are innate to us, yes, but who we are is fundamentally shaped by the lives that we live.
like. when i sit down to write an au, i always spend time figuring out how the character's canon backstories can work in the au, bc some things have to remain the same. jean and lucien must always, always, both be widowers (or at least have mei lin's fate marked "unknown") bc shared grief - shared trauma - is one of the cornerstones of their connection to one another. if jean is not a mother, if she is not a widow, if lucien is not a father, if he is not a widower, it changes their dynamic, both in terms of how they relate to one another and just how they approach life in general. plus, their story is one of healing, and without the wound there can be no recovery.
and elliot and olivia, whether they talk about it a lot or not, are both driven by childhood trauma. they are driven, compelled, by what they have experienced. the ways in which they react to that trauma are indicative of their characters, but if you remove the catalyst for those choices, what else is removed? if kathy doesn't get pregnant, does elliot join the marines? if he doesn't join the marines where does he go? if his father is kind, if his mother is stable, does he grow up to be so fiercely possessive, protective, aggressive?
and so here we have olivia. what happens to olivia, if her childhood trauma is removed?
part of what i talk about, when i talk about olivia being called, is redemption. olivia's existence is a crime. i wrote this once, i think it was in haunted - in a perfect world, olivia would not exist. walking around with that knowledge changes her. it makes injustice personal, but does it also make her feel like she has something to make up for? like she is paying penance, like she was given a life she didn't deserve and by god she's gonna earn it? does she wrestle with questions of why am i here, why me, if she doesn't know where she came from, if she grows up wanted? and if she is not intimately acquainted with the aftermath of rape, if she does not grow up witnessing first hand how parents can damage their children, does she feel such a righteous call to right those wrongs?
i don't know fam. if she doesn't become a cop i don't think she meets elliot, and if she doesn't meet elliot, god, how much does that change her? but then, does she struggle with compassion, and trust, and connection, if she grows up knowing that she's loved?
bruh. this is so much.

I was thinking more about bihan adopting an orphan and it got more elaborate than I thought it was going to be but it’s bihan character stuff too and a softer side of him I don’t explore much..... I’m just going to throw it under a cut it’s too long LOL
What I like to do usually is give fan kids to my fave ships with like physical and personality traits from the ship to the children but this time I think it’s more fitting for bihan to find an orphan who’s been abandoned by their parents, or maybe their parents were killed in an altercation... I should mention this is part of an au where bihan and hanzo are freed from quan chi and learn the truth about the sr massacre, and I like bihan not taking up the mantle of lin kuei grandmaster though not yet renouncing the lk, and he just kind of........ roams by himself for a while..... sounds kind of silly but when he’s been in service to the lk since he was just a little kid I think he would want to sight-see, I think he’s into that
I digress....!!!! He finds a little girl up in the mountains, far away from the nearest town but there’s a house with some farming/sustainability..... then he notices the girl’s parents are dead smh. Blood everywhere against the snow. I didn’t want this to be so dark already but I wanted the girl to be a pretty young age, around 3, so it reminds bihan of when he and kuai liang were stolen from their parents and kuai liang was around the same age as the girl, and crying inconsolably as well.... so, that tugs at him slightly, but there’s no emotion on his face. He goes to inspect, the blood is fresh, the girl is beside a basket, she must have been foraging and was away when her parents were attacked.... and she just sits there crying
Bihan thinks about leaving smh bc he goes undetected (also huge hc he is really stealthy even more so than hanzo) but decides to make himself known to the girl, who’s startled by him...... I’m not really sure what bihan could say in this moment, I think he’s really good at dragging ppl and being funny but comforting someone, especially a child, is something he’s never done before. I think it would be nice if the assailant came back for the girl but bihan kills him lol right in front of her..... she’s already traumatized why not throw in some vindication for her parents death 🤷‍♀️ bihan even says as much saying her parents have been avenged but she’s like a toddler and doesn’t understand and is probably even more upset now
I can see bihan not debilitating long over if he wants to help her or not, he just does. Leaves the parents unceremoniously, does come back to bury them properly once he’s gotten the girl some lodging for the night, thinks about his own parents....... this is just bihan processing childhood trauma the au. I hc bihan is a total ruthless killer with a huge kill count but respects the dead, and in this same au where he and hanzo are on good terms, he pays his respects to hanzo’s wife and child. He prays for the girl’s parents safe passage like he did for hanzo’s family...... thinks about hanzo a little bit bc they’ve split ways at this point. Returns back to the girl even tho he thought about just leaving her there. Super projecting himself or kuai liang (or both of them) onto the little girl even tho he doesn’t want to lmao, so he goes to see her and makes sure she sleeps for the night, then in the morning asks her name
I liked jiang ying yue with the rough translation being the moon’s reflection against the river, I think that’s so pretty and fitting for her and bihan being moon types. She doesn’t speak much besides her name, prob cause her parents being dead in front of her, but bihan notices she’s just very shy and quiet in general. Doesn’t prod, bihan never spoke much as a child and young adult anyway, he even thinks that’s a good quality lmao. So they do this awkward dance but ying yue seems to get attached to bihan, tugs at his sleeve, hides behind him, cute stuff. Bihan is like. Slowly processing he’s becoming a parental figure to her and he has guardianship over a tiny human overnight
They stay in the small town for a bit but bihan decides actual child rearing needs to take place somewhere stable, and the only home he’s ever known was the lin kuei temple.... :o he returns with a bab, his newly recruited (human!!!) lin kuei think bihan is returning to be grandmaster, but he says..... take this child in :) and do not teach her any murder stuff!!! Give her a proper education and let her do what she likes. All the lk are super shocked bc murder husband himself is all but threatening them to give her a normal life and not train her as an assassination. Ying yue has no idea what’s happening and is just going mental over how huge the temple is, and all the technological advancement she’s never seen in her life, asks if bihan is a prince and he says no but she’s a princess :-) now we’re getting dad joke bihan
Bihan decides to stay for a couple days but didn’t plan on staying in the temple for too long BUT..... even in those few days bihan gets a special visitor... :) ... it’s hanzo who asked the lk to let him know when bihan returned to the temple. And he brought takeda :) and my fingers hurt too much now to get into this super weird family dynamic but it’s here and I want it sooooOOOOo bad. I can’t believe I wrote all this

Oopse Part 2 (Rodrick Heffley x pregnant reader)
Request: "Hi, i was wondering if you could do a part 2 to the Rodrick x Pregnant!Reader where they tell Rodrick's parents about the babie?" ~ anonymous
*cringes* okay ❤
A/N: I'm not gonna lie, I hate this prompt, the original was meant to be funny but it got SO MUCH ATTENTION. The idea of telling parents that you're pregnant at 16 is terrifying, and its not gonna end well. But Im writing this because I feel like Ive been rejecting too many asks latley and people aren't responding well to that. So I hope you enjoy this. Just a warning, I refuse to sugar coat this topic and make it so the parents are happy and supportive. That's a trope I truly hate and if that is what you are looking for, I can name like 3 other amazing blogs that will happily write that for you.
Warnings: Teen Pregnancy, Parental confrontation
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
So Rodrick knew. Not only did Rodrick know, but he stayed. Not only did he know and stay, but he confessed his feelings for you. NOT ONLY did he know, stay, and love you, but he was supportive and shockingly mature about things.
Rodrick was not mature, he just wasnt, that wasnt him. You thought that as time went on that maybe his immaturity would come out and he would get scared or he would be stupid about things and it wouldn't work out. But, that didn't happen.
A few weeks had passed since you gave him the news. The only thing that had changed, was that the two of you were now offically going steady. You told Rodrick to keep things a secret for now. Your parents didn't know, his parents didn't know, no one at school could know. You kept it that way until you figured out what to do.
You hadn't really disgusted it with one another either. Rodrick, while kind and supportive, didn't have a clue as to what to do about it. You feared about what keeping it meant, what adoption meant, or abortion. Where the hell do you even get one of those anyways? You were so conflicted and confused, and most of all, scared.
You walked around the high school campus with Rodrick's arm firmly placed around your shoulders. He walked with a proud smile, standing up straight like you were a trophy. Amungst your peers, you weren't exactly at the top, you had your fair share of friends and enemies. You were absolutely perplexed by the way your new boyfriend presented you. You weren't a trophy girlfriend, you weren't a prize, even if you were the idea was insulting. You pulled yourself awat from him at lunch and hid in a secluded hallway linned with lockers.
You sat on the floor and held your knees to your chest. You felt your heart race and your stomach turn.
"There you are, hey..." Rodrick slowly approached and knelt down, "are you okay?" He asked softly.
"I'm fine."
"You look pale," he leaned in, "is it making you sick?" He whispered softly.
"ITS fine!" You barked. His eyes widened and he pouted for a moment before sitting down beside you.
"Whats going on?" He asked often a long pause.
"Why do you do that?" You asked.
"Do what?"
"That thing you do with me."
"What thing? C'mon Y/N I can't read your mind." You could tell he was fustrated, but he kept himself calm.
"The way you get when we're around friends and at school. You parade me around like I'm some kind of prize! I'm not like those girls who dool themselves uo everyday, I'm not Heather Hills!" He watched you as shouted away from him, you didnt want to face him. He paused and thought for a moment.
"You don't like being a prize?" He asked, genuinely confused and concerened.
"No! I'm not some prize to be won, I'm a person with thoughts and feelings and...and I'm not even a prize to begin with! I'm-I'm I'm ruined." You cried.
"Oh no, no no no, you're not ruined you're- don't cry, don't cry." He tried to pry your hands away from your face so he could dry your tears and hold you close. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry if I hurt you, I didn't mean it," he paused and waited for you to take deep breaths and relax before he started talking again, "I just, I really like you Y/N. Like I...really really like you. I've told you I love you a hundred times. You're not a prize, I know that now, But you make me feel like a winner. Having you, makes me feel like I have something to be really proud of. I'm sorry if me showing you off makes you uncomfortable, I'll stop. But I can't help but gush about you a little."
"But Rodrick...I'm pregnant." You whispered to him.
"So? I can't still be proud of my super smart, super hot girlfriend?" He smiled. You paused and held him close for a moment before letting go.
"We have to decide what we're gonna do." You changed the subject.
"Whatever you want." He'd said that so many times, it was driving you mad. You didn't know what you wanted.
"What do you want?" You asked him. Rodrick paused and leaned his head against a lock as he thought.
"I don't know," He admitted, "maybe we should tell someone."
"What? No." You argued.
"We can't keep it a secret forever. People are gonna find out eventually and maybe our parents can help!"
"Not my parents!" You spat. They werent bad parents, you just feared the worst.
"Then lets tell mine, they can help, they'll help us." He pleaded.
"No, no, they'll want us to keep it and get married. They won't understand."
"...Trust me, they'll understand. Please. I want to tell them." You starred at him as you thought.
"...fine." You made a plan, that night at dinner. You went home with Rodrick, and awkwardly shuffled around the house behind him. You had met the Heffly family before, you had stayed for dinner before. But not as Rodrick's girlfriend, and not pregnant.
They greeted you with big smiles, they were happy to have you for dinner. You sat at the table and picked at your food as your leg bounced under the table. At one point, Rodrick placed a hand on your leg to keep is firmly planted. When dinner was over, Greg went to his room, and Manny was put to bed.
"Can we talk to you guys for a sec? Before I take Y/N home." Rodrick asked as his parents sat back down at the dinner table.
"Oh god, somethings wrong." His mother spoke.
"Well, Uh, We-"
"You're pregnant!" His father cut him off. His eyes wide, they starred at you for a long moment. Yout heart raced.
"What?" You spat in shock.
"I knew it, whenever teenage couples sit their parents down, they're pregnant." His mother told her husband.
"How could this happen- Well, I think we know how but you two have only been dating for a few weeks!"
"How could you be so irresponsible?"
"We messed up, you don't have to be so angry at us." You croaked.
"Its true...you are pregnant?" His mother asked softly. You slowly nodded.
"Oh my god..." His father muttered. The room feel silent for a while. Rodrick looked at you, and held your hand tightly.
"What are you going to? Rodrick can't be a father." Mrs. Heffley chuckled.
"We don't know, we thought maybe you could help." You told them. They looked at one another.
"We never thought this would happen." She sighed.
"Me neither!" Rodrick laughed, you gently swatched as his arm.
"Well, how far along are you?"
"A month, maybe."
"Do your parents know, Y/N?" Mr. Heffley asked you. You shook your head.
"We'll figure this out don't worry, it'll be fine." Mrs. Heffley spoke to calm the room.
"What are you going to do, Rodrick? You can't play in that band anymore with a baby." His father told him with a knowing look. Rodrick's expression turned sour, he looked sad but then he held his up.
"I know." He spoke.
"Wait what? No you don't have to stop playing, its your passion." You argued.
"Y/N, a baby is a lot of responsibility, if you keep it, your dreams and your passions take a back seat." Mrs. Heffley warned.
"Well who said I'm keeping it? And who said you can't follow your passions in life? Plety of people do that! Rodrick isn't quiting the band." You were firm. You looked up at Rodrick who starred back, his eyes were lit up. Sparkling as they watched you. "What?" You asked him defensivly, he smiled.
"I love you." He blurted.
"Love you too." You mumbled.

✔️ & ❌ : for X-Men ; Deadly Class ; MCU --- elaborate why woman! we wanna know the tea lol 👀)
Uhhhh I was gonna do it anyway lol 💓
Deadly Class:
✔️
•Saya Kuroki: Saya is one of my favorite characters for so many reasons: she's cool and strong, also doesn't fear to fight when the situation needs it.
But Saya can be pretty cold and distant, manipulative even. I guess it's a side effect of the harmful environment she grew up with.
•Willie: He was just an innocent kid in the wrong place. Willie tried really hard to appear tough, without fearing to pull the trigger but we all know that was lie.
He was much more than that, but King's Dominion consumed him before he could do anything to get free...
•Maria: Another victim (but all of them are, right?) I find her way of trying to have fun and forget about her horrible past intriguing, she's just trying to survive the day and not breakdown.
Maria is a sweet girl with a burning desire of running away from her hellish life and have some peace. I just adore her.
•Marcus: He has been through so much, the death of his parents, the abuse in the boys home and his time in the streets had made him what he is today a manipulative, pessimistic boy and with a lot of unsolved traumas that consumes his head in such a painful way.
But even with his twisted mind he tries to connect with others and have friends so he won't feel alone again, the sad thing is that he always end up pushing others away.
•Zenzele: My favorite of new bunch. She a literal angel, but hellish when pushed too far.
She just wants to have a good future for her parents and have a decent life without breaking the rules of God (which is ironic considering the place she's living) I think she's the most pure of them all.
•Master Lin: That old man is just creating weapons without caring about his kids health (physically and mentally), he tortures them and puts them against each other.
Fuck! The test to pass to the other year is killing each other like if it was the hunger games, that man is a monster.
•Shabnam: That pig can choke. He's a little bitch with such low self-esteem that he makes people to stick to his side by blackmailing them or threats, it's pitiful.
Also, he claims that nobody cares about his sorry ass,but he will not hesitate to betray a friend when he can benefits from it.
I hope he dies.
•Petra: I don't hate her, I rather feel sorry for her, however I'm still bitter about Billy's death.
Petra was a lonely girl who was just trying to fill that void with friends, but her need of survive surpassed her in such a horrible way.
The days after the juniors finals she was a complete different person, trying to pass as one of the lagacies and completely losing herself, also I think she was off meds (if I'm not wrong, I think she was schizophrenic)
I am happy shad found some peace of mind with Helmut, I think it benefited her and made her more happy. It's sad that didn't last long :(
X-men:
✔️
•Peter: Peter is a carefree guy who just runs around wrecking havoc and avoiding responsibility, which is pretty harmful cuz he still have a teenage mindset when he's in his thirties.
But he's the first character I fell in love with, his personality and scenes were to good to not fall for him, but I'm sad he didn't grew as a person and that he didn't told Erik he was his son.
•Warren: He was so intriguing in the movies I couldn't help myself. The short screen time hooked into adopting this character.
It's heartbreaking all the horrible things he had to face just to suffer a gruesome death.
•Jean: She's a powerful girl ready to protect her loved ones, but at the same time is pretty broken because of it. It's interesting.
I like her personality and the way she's all smiley when her friends are near or when she's with Scott.
•Ororo: The old Ororo was my role model when I was a kid. I mean, this strong woman controlling the weather with glowing eyes while looking fabulous? Fuck I wanted to be like her even I didn't knew what the hell was going on!
She's strong, protective, witty, compassionate and so much more...yeah, I still want to be like her 🤷🏽‍♀️
•Raven: She's a horrible person, she threw Kurt into a river when he just a baby, is a horrible mother, I mean, she really doesn't care about her kids.
Her movie version isn't like this, but I found her annoying, especially in Dark Phoenix; the only exception I have towards her is in First Class because her presence was important to the plot.
•Charles: I think he has his low and highs as the average person, but I find it extremely hard to accept that he has put the X-Men towards risky missions just to prove the humans that they were friendly and capable to bring in hand anytime they needed it.
Also hiding Jean's past was a horrible mistake, telling her about how she get to the mansion and what happened with her parents could have prevented a lost of unfortunate events.
MCU:
✔️
•Wanda: I found her story interesting, it's really sad when you finally know all the things this girl had to face, so much loss and so much pain had caused her mind to break.
But she let herself love and be loved, her relationship with Vision and Clint it's a prove of this. To not mention she's so powerful, that is slightly scary.
•Gotg: Yeah, I know this was supposed to be just one character, but I really love this family because that's what they are.
The story behind the guardians of the galaxy is heartwarming in my opinion, a bunch of outsiders finding safety and comfort in each other. They have trough so much, loss, pain, anger, but those things just had made them stronger and closer.
I love this family more than any other found family.
•Peter Parker/Miles Morales: They're both innocent kids who wanted to make a difference and that's pretty cool.
I love them both, they're personality is so bright that you're happy when they're happy on screen...it's crazy.
•Thor: Thor is strong, humble and positive. I don't hate him by any means, I find him rather cute, but there's something about him that just doesn't sit right with me.
Maybe it's because he can be so happy go lucky with everything and everyone, a trait that it's really nice to have ,but let's be real a person whose like that all the time will explode in the worst way possible when everything crumbles...
•Carol Danvers: She's just meh for me, not great, not bad just meh.
Her personality was too cocky for me, in a way that it seemed that she was trying to appear better than anyone and I dislike people like that.
However, an scene I really liked was when she was with her bestfriend because to me it feel more natural, just two "friends" (cuz to me it seemed more than that ngl) finding each other again. I must say, it was really cute.
•Bruce Banner: For me he always was a crybaby, and I get it, being the Hulk must be hard, but there was so many times he was just being plain rude to others.
I'm happy he grew as a person, but I still don't like him that much

Idk if you do LoK headcannons, but: Lin Beifong adopts Mako and Bolin when they are street orphans. (she didn't want kids so I thought it would be ironic)
1. So I do not like the idea of forcing children on a woman who does not want them because Irony, at least not while I exist within a culture that pushes motherhood so strongly onto women as an inevitability and castigates them and treats them as bad and unnatural if they don't want to be mothers. That being said, I love writing characters who do something they do not want to do, because it needs to be done, and there is no one else around doing it. So this is what happens here. Lin, who does not want to be a mother, and has never wanted children, finds herself adopting and raising two kids because they have nobody else.
2. Lin has... kind of a skewed view of gang membership. Her sister got involved with criminal activity as a lark, as rebellion against her mother the chief of police. This colored Lin's view of gangs and their members, meaning unconsciously, she thought all people involved in crime had a real choice, that they could leave this life and go back to a law abiding life if they wanted to. The crushing poverty and lack of legal opportunity for Republic City's poor just wasn't something she considered. This is why when a kid called Mako is arrested in a raid on a Triple Threat Triad base, she assumes he's there for fun.
3. He reminds her of Suyin, which is probably why she decides to interview him herself, to find his family and deliver him back into their loving arms with a stern report on his wicked ways. This of course presupposes that he has a family, which... She starts off asking what he thinks his parents are going to say when she takes him home and tells them what he's been doing, which is when he snaps back that they're dead. Okay, so your family more generaly then. Grief is no excuse for working with the triads. This kid really reminds her of Suyin, with his thinking he can do anything he wants because he's unhappy.
4. Which is why it comes as a shock when he's like, "what family?" He doesn't have a family taking care of him. It's just him and his little brother, and nobody takes care of either of them except him. All right, she says, if you've got nobody to take care of you, you belong in an orphanage. She demands to know where his brother is, so she can take them both there. Mako's like, I'm not telling you anything. The problem is, Republic City doesn't have a juvenal justice system, so there isn't really anything she can do to this ten year old kid. She tells her officers to cut him loose, but to secretly tail him, and to pick him and his brother up once they meet up.
5. Meanwhile she calls the Republic City orphanage, only to be told they're full, and so are all the private orphanages. When a pair of officers comes back with the boys in tow, telling her they found them squatting in an abandoned factory, Lin has nowhere to put them.
