#I had no idea Yamato was this popular
Tumblr media
Here we go, ladies and gentlemen! One of my few Het Ships!
My I Introduce:
Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne
From Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Destiny
This is my favorite Gundam Ships, period. Don't get me wrong, I like Heero Yuy and Relena Peacecraft, but these two are just...better!
Kira comes out as more human. He didn't start out as a warrior nor was he trained from a young age to be one. He was just a college student living in Heliopolis. He simply wanted a peaceful life. He was thrust into the war mainly to protect his friends. He lost his home and at one point, questioned his own identity. He is soft-hearted and gentle but is dedicated to protecting his loved ones and, despite the war, he maintains his gentle and loving nature. He does know that although he hates war, sometimes it is necessary to fight for what you believe in.
Now Lacus is like Relena in certain ways. Both have a father in a political role and have had a cushy upbringing, with Relena going to a high-class private school, and Lacus becoming a pop-princess. The main difference between them is the idea of sacrifice and how much they are willing to give up for their cause. Relena doesn't seem to sacrifice much, whereas Lacus in the end, is willing to give up the lifestyle she grew up in, her popularity/status of being a symbol of the PLANTS, her home, and ultimately her own freedom. She literally committed a crime by stealing the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam and giving it to Kira so he could continue to protect his loved ones and try to end the war.
Kira and Lacus' relationship, from friends to romantic partners, is more consensual throughout their story than Relena and Heero's relationship. Relena's affection and care for Heero were initially one-sided, as Heero originally wanted to kill her in order to keep his identity a secret, whereas Kira and Lacus quickly became friends during their first meeting, with Kira willing to threaten his freedom aboard the Archangel to keep her from being used as a bargaining chip for Earth.
Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I just love them SO much! Lacus is also my favorite woman in all of the Gundam series! (NOTE: I hate the color pink with a passion! However, I overlook that particular trait with Lacus because I love her as a character!)

Talk Garden #3!! ~Lost Memories of Shichi-Go-Sen~
The November podcast has been uploaded 😃♡ This time's talk topic is "Anecdotes of Shichi-Go-San"!! ️ Funnily enough, almost all the messages I received from everyone were full of "I don't remember". That made laugh🤣🤣I'm sorry, who am I to judge? I honestly don't remember a lot either, I guess we were all too young when we celebrated Shichi-Go-San 😂 I wonder if we should increase the age of celebration from 7(Shichi), 5(Go) and 3(San) to 12 and 15. *laughs* This way, it would be much more memorable 😂 Of course there were also some people who said that they remembered everything perfectly. Some of you mentioned that you remember crying a lot. Very relatable to be honest~ *laughs*
As a small gift to everyone whose message I read in the podcast, I made a handmade glass deco sticker of Shark-chan!\\٩( 'ω' )و // I had a vague idea that a sticker would be a good gift to give as a thank you, so after doing some research, I finally decided on these glass deco stickers! This is the completed set of my Shark-chan glass deco sticker🦈🦈🦈🦈💕A small gift! You can draw whatever picture you like on the film sheet by using the paint, then let it dry and it's done. It takes about 8 hours to dry the whole thing, but I let it dry for about two days just to be sure. Shark-chan is being mass-produced... (I also made one with some odd colouring.) When I tried sticking it on my Mac, the shark looked a bit wrinkled. But these are so much fun to make! 😳✨The glass deco paint is released by the same company that makes the popular Arabic Yamato glue. According to the official description, magical paint is a mixture of paint and glue that turns into colourful and shining stickers and looks like stained glass after drying😊 I didn't know about the existence of these stickers at all until I researched it but they seem to be quite popular😳When I went to Daiso, they also sold paint for this 😳From now on, I want to try more different kinds of drawings! ! \\٩( 'ω' )و // So, everyone whose message I read, please wait patiently for your Shark-chan sticker to arrive!
And I have some news! For the fan club event that will be held after the "Wakana Classics 2023 ~Winter Party~" on December 15th, we have decided to do a poll for the song that I will be singing during that particular section! I started my classical concerts back in 2020 with the "Wakana Covers ~Anime Classics~" album. I thought I would let everyone choose from a selection of songs from this album😉Click here for the poll! ・Yasashisa ni tsutsumareta nara ・Inochi no Namae ・Kimi no Todoke ・Get Wild ・Yume no Yukue
Please let me know which song you would like to hear! ! ! ♪♪♪\(^o^)/♪♪♪ Lastly, here's a picture of my Gazania which bloomed again due to the abnormally warm temperatures(?)🌼It's blooming so beautifully 😳💕I'm so happy ♡
Well, I hope you enjoy the new episode! This time it's about 40 minutes long *laughs*Please relax and listen 😊

A second look and later look at the second story mod
So. Now after some time has past, seince we seen the second story mod. I think more of us started to see more of it's flaws. I started viewing it defenetly seince then. Now this is a sort of second look at it, after seeing what other people writing, about it, it actually helped me a lot to put the things into words.
I start with the few positivs.
I like the fect that they tryd to show off more character. We will talk about the execution of it later. Some comadic screens legitemitly made me laugh. MC. I personaly found him intresting, and I liked him for the most part, even though I will write a section about him. MC and Sachiko's friendship was nice, even if it can feel rushed at places. There were some good moment, that I still like, and remember.
Spoiler warning! And long post.
Now. Let's talk about the rest.
The characterisation of the characters.
It's rather mixed in my openion. I will leave the elephants in the room out of this section. We will get to it. Raven was rather nice actually. She had little screan time, but it was still good. The screan before the boom sets off is good, and if you don't really know anything about the devs, you can think that she got killed. We know Lilith Games would't dear to kill off a character who is used in promotionals often.
I liked Trevor here, he was legitemitly funny.
Trkiki, Xuan Pin, and Xiaon Yin were also there. I'm saying this like this, because they were fearly stayd on character, whaile also having less of a screan time. So really nothing to say here from my part. I will not mention the cameos.
Freddy, Leon, and Anesidora present here was welcomed from my part. I liked them.
Abigail, and Alexa, were out of character, especially Abigail. I think it could have been better if Abigail did not give them the snow war mobile thing so soon. It was too soon in my openion. And I would't really involve her with the final. It could have been better if she stayd natural. Or at least they could have made getting her apruval a chalenge in the story.
And Yamato. I think we know the problem. I like the fect that he disgaused himself as Leon, but it just feels as if they noticed how popular he is, and put him in there in order to get a positiv reaction from the players. This was pointed out before me, so I'm not the first one who thinks this. I'm not ageinst Yamato being in there, but it's done not the best way.
And to close this segment, let's talk about the character who was introduced to us in this story. Sachiko. She is nice, she has a cute design, and a few cute moments. Nothing really. I don't blame the people who don't really care about her.
2. Gaius, Hyde, aka why don't you use your already established villians Lilith Games you cowerd?
Yeah. Let's talk about that elephant in the room. The fect that the game doas not uses the already established villians, and forget about some. This was pointed out before me.
And we all know the problem with the Gaius twist.
If they did a better job, the twist still would have been bag, but not this bad. They could have made a comperison, between them. They could have had a monolog where the two try to reason with the other by talking about Hannah, and her death. Gaius tryind to live up to her memory, to be the person she can be proud off, whaile Hyde tryind to manipulet him, buy using Hannah, in a "She would want you to be more powerfull", "This could bennifit this works, Hannah would agree with this!". This are just my ideas, so they might be bad, or cringe, or clishe, but it still doas sound better then what we got.
3. So I gues this game is an isekai now.
So I don't really feel really positiv, about the isekai stuff here. I think there could have been better execution, then him coming from an another world posably sent by truck-kun. We don't even find out about what his life was like in the other world. Which could have been be able to make the end of the story, of him deciding to work in the Esper Union more emotionaly, affter all MC is basicly giving up an entire life.
And let's not forget that, they could have made ways to write it with the isekai thing. I will say a few ideas that come to my mind.
Him coming from a small isoleted community, whit little to no conection to the outside world, and fearing it, because the community is made up of people who were experuented on, and meneged to escape from the labs. He lives there until one day they get attacked by eather miramon, or the Shadow Decree, or someone else. And eather MC being the only survivor who is now forced to leave what he called home, and face the thing he fears the outside world. Or the other survivors from the attack having been kidnaped, so now he is forced to go to the outside world to find them.
For this next idea, I would like to put out, that abuse, manipuletion, and gaslighting from a parent is mentiond.
Like he could have been a test subject, a lab rat, from a lab similar to the one Farrah was in, which would explain the reason why he is half human half miramon. If they want this could be a reason to not wanting to work with the Esper Union, with a "They didn't helped me, so why should I work with them", then with the help of Sachiko, and maybe even Gaius if it's a good idea to give him more screan time, slowly starts changing MC's openion. Or he was experiented on growing up, in the Shadow Decree by Hyde. Which could open up the option of him being Hyde's son. Eather blood releted, but I think him being a "adopted son" could be a better option. Eather by adopting him from an orphanige, kidnaping him from eather his family, or combining the two, him being kidnaped from the streets as an orphan. Hyde doing experimences on him, and being a gaslighting, manipuleting him. MC meneging to escape from him, and not trusting at first in the Esper Union, but in the story he slowly starts to trust develop an adoptive sibling realetionship with Sachiko, and an adoptiv father son realetionship with Gaius, aka finding an actually loving family. And in the end MC would stend up ageinst Hyde.
Are thise ideas posably bad, cringy, or edgy? Yes, but I think those are still more intresting. Are they recvaird to add to the already existing lore, or redcon and rewrite elements of it? Also a yes, especially in the last exemple.
And now, the end. If anyone read this through I'm sorry for waisting your time. I might do a rewrite or something (I originaly wanted to do a rewrite about Cellblock Chaos, but never actually ended up doing it). I know that the last I know it's darker, but Dislyte is not strangers to being darker, as we seen in Farrah's event, and in Hilda's event.
Thank you for reading it.

Fandom Shipping Polls - Daisuke Motomiya Shipping Analysis (Poll I + Poll II)
As pointed out in the main post, every single Chosen Child will get their individual analysis post to check on the status of the current popularity of their ships. With that out of the way, let’s take a look at Daisuke, shall we!
The overall results / spreadsheet
Disclaimer: As the “Someone from 01/02″ and “Others” options from poll 1 and the “Someone from 01/02″ option from poll 2 have been excluded from the final analysis due to redundancy reasons and all results were culminated in another “final count”, the results will not be 1:1 to what the polls look like:
Tumblr media
Overall votes: 132 (approx. 110 in sum after the exclusion), the main poll got 93 votes, the secondary poll got 39 votes.
The “Others” choice in the main poll received 3% (approx. 3 votes) and 0% (0 votes) in the secondary poll. The comments/tags did not specify any preferences here (aside from characters that were already part of the main choices).
Ship Analysis
1st place: It should come to nobody’s surprise that Ken (52%) singlehandedly swept this poll without facing any kind of serious competition at any time of the voting. Daiken is one of the most popular mlm Digimon ships on the planet - and for good reasons, as their anime portrayal provides for some very intense and intriguing mutual character development. Not only do they start off as “enemies” (with one of the parties unknowingly holding lots of the admiration for the other), but them turning into friends - and Jogress partners - is one of the most significant development fuels for both of them; nurturing each other’s (self) confidence while growing closer, developing great fondness, attachment and protectiveness for each other as they get more and more comfortable with themselves and in the other’s presence. It’s an endearing framing with a lot of heart, and with the additional anticipation of more news on the 02 movie, it’s really no surprise to see them being as prevalent and beloved in fandom as they are at the moment.
2nd place: With a huge gap to 1st place, Takeru (11%) takes his seat on 2nd place. As mentioned in Takeru’s own analysis, this makes a lot of sense; their popularity here may be explained by the idea that Daisuke is supposed to be a foil to Takeru in a similar way Taichi is to Yamato - even though their dynamic as so called “rivals” does not play out in the same way at all. Despite the occasional bickering, it’s portrayed to be more lighthearted, especially on Takeru’s behalf, who likes to tease Daisuke, making for a mutually challenging, yet very playful  - and most importantly: more soft - dynamic.
3rd place: Daisuke is the second character after Mimi who had SEVERAL people competing for third place, resulting in a three-way-tie between Miyako, Hikari and Wallace, with each of them snatching 8% of the votes. And again, taking a very close look at canon, all of these choices make sense; Miyako proves to be companion Daisukes has a teasing and competitive, yet supportive and familiar relationship with; Hikari is portrayed as someone Daisuke heavily crushes on at first and tries to compete with Takeru to get her attention and affection over, but once that quietly mellows out, they prove to have a soft, mutually trusting bond; last but not least, Wallace is a movie-only character with a flirty, teasing attitude towards Daisuke while also making him want to fight for his sake and sad backstory.
Honorary mentions: As the majority of votes has been distributed among the choices mentioned above, there isn’t much left to be mentioned - yet characters that got more than 1 vote include Taichi (3%), Koushiro (3%), Sora (2%) and Michael (2%).
“The 1 vote squad”: This spot is reserved for Iori, Yamato, Mimi and Jou (1% each).
“0 votes go to…”: Interestingly, Daisuke is the only character in whose poll EVER SINGLE main character received at least one vote.
Annotations: N/A
What did the other polls say?
Daisuke won Ken’s poll (61%) with one of the biggest margins and also came in second Takeru’s poll (18%), thus mirroring his own results to a high degree.
However, he doesn’t appear in the top 3 rankings for the other characters and actually has a tendency to come in fourth a lot, namely in Hikari’s (9%), Miyako’s (15%), Iori’s (9%), Taichi’s (10%) and Yamato’s (7%) polls.
Thus, for the majority of the rest, he was merely a niche choice, such as Sora (3%), Koushiro (2%) and Jou (1%).
Mimi is the only character in whose poll he did not get a single vote - she herself had received 1 vote in his though.
Notable additions / comments / thoughts
Daisuke’s polls stand out for the fact that he received the fourth most votes overall (after Taichi, Ken and Takeru) - which is quite ironic if you consider that he also appears to be the KING of getting fourth place, thus missing the podium for third place 5 times overall.
These facts aside, he is, as mentioned, the only character whose polls had every of the other 11 Chosen Children get represented by at least 1 vote. It shall not be overlooked that the sample size is still comparably low of course. Thus, I really hope to reach a wider audience if I choose to repeat the polls once the fandom is not as quiet as it is right now. However, the idea that Daisuke has enough followers that every possible combination had at least 1 fan is very interesting.
Seeing Daiken sweep the entire voting overall is really no surprise, as they appear to have a very passionate group of followers, artists and writers alike, not only on tumblr, but on various internet spaces - regardless of country, even after all this time. This may or may not be assigned to the growing anticipation of the 02 movie as well as for a general demand of more 02 related content after the Adventure 01 cast received a lot of exposure in the past years. Overall, for the reasons mentioned above (and beyond, thanks to their portrayal), Daiken has always been going strong, despite never having been canonized.
The comments in the tags have only referred to the already mentioned choices. The “Others” option did not receive any further votes in the second poll, indicating that all the most viable choices have been covered by poll 1 and 2. Usually, the option is reserved for OC ships, for when people prefer to not ship a character at all or when they’re considered asexual (which will definitely be a future option to include as well!).

Grand Slam
Tumblr media
And I ain't talking Denny's. As much as I'd love to use the "Aspect" part of our title (I have a feeling there'll be other moments) and a riff on planets aligning...it's baseball season. Following "Bases Loaded" with a chapter that has four big points for me? C'mon. Wonder if Oda's been in on Ohtani fever? LA Dodgers picked up an incredible Japanese player who's been a big deal over there. I like to think about that occasionally when I watch Dodger games, though the KC Royals are my main team. At least they're not the New York Yankees...which gets me back to One Piece. Let's do three of these today, I like keeping the cover on its own. Do remember everything that follows happens in the shadow of Gear 5 running out here.
York! Please get this girl an emotional support burger. She needs one. We've talked before how this big-eyed blonde shook out to being a great little contrast to Okiku. Now look at this scene in particular, it's great how cute York is all chapter but this one shows it best to me. Your story right now is a combination of Yamato's story with the bombs in the Raid and that Bakura Town element between Kiku/Hawkins of trying to usher the big monster not make the entire place collateral damage. Smooth right? That aside, York's great and great this chapter. We'll get back to her in a sec but our next runner coming home is another favorite we haven't touched on in a while:
Tumblr media
All the subtlety of a baseball bat to the head. Hi Stussy! You're lovely and it's not just because you and Kiku have very similar faces. It's also because you're a blonde and I love that your cover story was running whorehouses. Because that shit is cool, almost as cool as fitting in that whole deal of the Urashima Taro story being scattered around different sharp New World ladies. Stussy is trying to Bon herself. Not only that, but when the crew learns of it? Hammering that theme of respecting her decision to stay behind and lower the dome.
I still think if we have one more cutaway segment, you have all the right elements in play. Springboard with Stussy and her clone story as the lead-in but through the OG Buckin being with Marco bend it back to pulling a Kuma and showing our gaps in Wano. That pairs pretty damn nicely with our last segment today for one major reason:
Tumblr media
So this is obviously a trap, right? But the way it's framed we've also taken the two people who might be able to pull something like this off in the background off the table. And is that the damn special snail Uta had!? Like...reasonable guess that's how Vegapunk intended to do a worldwide broadcast. Speaking of...I wanted more goofing but the continuation of the Vega Coffee gag was awesome. Type of gag I'd always want more of, still dethrones Nami's fearsome Future Kick as my favorite Egghead joke.
Mars though. It's suspicious as hell the antenna snail is just chilling on the floor in this dark room. Like the idea the gurgle sound is massive Vegapunk brain in a vat. Would rather it be the other fairly popular one someone is about to ambush him with a bubble gun. A minute before we go live. It's a perfect setup if we're gonna flip this on it's head, hijack the broadcast against the Gorosei more directly.

Dear Vocalist Unlimited Veronica Translation — PIECES [track two]

- Guitar: OHGI (CV. Makoto Furukawa)
- Bass: AMA (CV. Kengo Kawanishi)

Yamato: Ah, I see. That could be a good idea. Nowadays, online shopping is more popular, so it might be better to do that too.
But, what about the expiration date issue? Ultimately, that's the root of the problem in our city. What is dad saying about this?
He used to say things that seemed to be against that kind of thing. Like, "Try to use additives as little as possible”.
Oh, Momochi-kun!
Over here, over here! Sorry, but let's talk about this another time. I'm going to a drinking party now.
Mm, bye-bye.
mmc: Sorry for making you come to pick me up~
Yamato: No problem, no problem, it's on the way anyway.
mmc: By the way, did Yamato-kun get a new car again?
Yamato: Ah, did you notice? Actually, it was just delivered last week.
Yamato: I scratched the old car in the parking lot of my apartment building.
mmc: Eh, you bought a new one because of that? Or rather, you hit it pretty hard, didn't you?
Yamato: No, there wasn't even a dent, just a little paint came off.
Yamato: So, I wasn't planning on getting a new one…
Yamato: I really liked it, but you know how those salespeople at the dealership are so good at talking?
Yamato: They said, "You can upgrade to a new car with just this much from the trade-in value, even after subtracting the repair cost." I fell for it, scary.
mmc: I see. I don't have a car, so I don't really understand that kind of thing... ha ha…
[02:01] Ohgi
Ohgi: Yes, I've been able to work on idol group songs one after another lately. Thank you for listening. But they are a male group after all, and Spark is a group that shows off acrobatic dance moves.
The director was aware of that.
Thank you very much for today.
Really? I'm honored. Then, I look forward to hearing about the album.
It depends on the timing, but if there aren’t any issues, I think I can still take a few more songs. The conversation will change a bit if it's after the New Year, though.
Yes, that's right.
But, well, I'm not the one who writes Veronica's songs, so I think it'll be a while before I get too busy with that.
The thing that's keeping me busy right now is another job that I took on my own.
It's often said subtly, but for me, the reason Veronica can continue in this form is precisely because of it, you know?
There's a different kind of appeal too.
*shiny sfx flashback*
[03:25]
mmc: Oh, really? Then, was the song for that commercial also by Ohgi-kun?
Ohgi: Yes, I made it before Veronica's offer came in.
Ohgi: It feels like it's been a while since then, though.
mmc: I see... Hey, Ohgi-kun, as a guitarist of course, but even as a music producer, you're selling so well. So why Veronica?
Ohgi: Well...
Ohgi: It's because of the songs I heard.
mmc: Huh? The songs?
Ohgi: Yeah, I just thought they were amazing when I heard the songs that Momochi-kun made.
Ohgi; So I said if I could be involved even just by playing the guitar, I would.
Ohgi: And besides, lately, producing work has become my main thing.
Ohgi: I'm not dissatisfied with that, but sometimes it's good to experience things from the player's perspective.
Ohgi: There are things you can learn from it.
mmc: Hmm, I see.
mmc: Oh, by the way, it's a bit late to ask, but...
mmc: Ohgi-kun is your real name, right? It's a rare name.
Ohgi: Well, yeah.
Ohgi: But if you say that, Momochi-kun's name is rare too, isn't it?
mmc: Haha, that’s true. I was a little confused at first myself.
Ohgi: Oh… but that's your real name too, right?
mmc: Yeah.
mmc: But originally it was a pretty common name, and I suddenly had to start living with my father in the middle of elementary school.**
Ohgi: I see. Sorry. I guess I asked something unnecessary.
mmc: No, it's fine…
mmc: Just keep it a secret from everyone else, okay? I still don't know everyone very well.
Ohgi: Of course. Me too.
Ohgi: I'll pretend I didn't hear anything.
[05:34]
Shizuru: Oh, here they come. Welcome.
Yamato: Hey, Shizu. I parked the car in the usual spot, so can you keep it until tomorrow?
Yamato: If it's in the way, feel free to move it.
Yamato: OK, here's the key.
Shizuru: Got it. I'll tell the staff later.
mmc: What about Ohgi-kun and Akkun? Are they working today too?
Shizuru: Mhm. They're coming from the job site, so they'll be a little late.
Shizuru: They said it was okay to start without them, though.
Yamato: By the way, the inside of the store looks so different now!
Yamato: Did you buy this grand piano?
Shizuru: No, I just had the one from my house brought here.
Shizuru: To be honest, I haven't used it much.
Shizuru: But it seemed like a waste to just leave it as a decoration.
Shizuru: Hey, Momochi-kun, don't you notice something?
mmc: Huh? Notice what?
Shizuru: Well, I guess not.
Shizuru: Maybe it's hard to tell since the scale is different. I tried to make it look like a stage, with a little more height.
Shizuru: Remember the bar you took me to, Momochi-kun? The one near the old apartment you used to live in.
mmc: Eh?
Yamato: Oh, yeah, I remember now! Now that you mention it, it does look a little similar!
mmc: Wait, did we go to that bar together?
Yamato: We did! I remember that you took me out once a while ago, don't remember when it was though.
*shiny sfx flashback*
[07:13]
Yamato: Oh, I see. Fine. Mhm, see you later!
Yamato: No good, Ohgi can't make it today either.
Shizuru: Aw, really? So it's just the two of us in the end? Akkun is overseas now.
Yamato: We had plans for a private get-together after such a long time.
Yamato: In that case, let's try inviting Momochi-kun, even if it's a long shot~
Shizuru: Or rather, I'll just lure him in suddenly*. His apartment is quite close by, right?
Yamato: Definitely, definitely! Shall we go and see if he's up for it?
[08:05]
Shizuru: Huh, they're playing live music. That's amazing.
mmc: Yeah, it's a nice atmosphere here, isn't it?
Yamato: Do you come here often, Momochi-kun?
mmc: Not really that often... Oh, I'll have the usual.
Shizuru: Alright, then I'll have the same.
Yamato: Me too!
Yamato: By the way, sorry for just showing up at your apartment like that~! I didn't think you'd have a friend over. Is it okay that you came out to the bar, Momochi-kun?
mmc: Eh? Yeah, don’t worry. It's her friend who is visiting… ha ha…
Shizuru: Are you close with your girlfriend's friends? I envy that.
mmc: W-well, not really "close"...
mmc: Anyways, Yamato-kun, are you okay with being taken to a bar like this? I thought you said you were driving earlier...
Yamato: Yeah, I'll take a taxi back, so it's okay.
Yamato: I have another car at home, so I'll just leave it in the parking lot and pick it up when I have time.
mmc: Oh, I see. That's good, then.
[09:22]
Shizuru: Oh, do you think someone else will sing next?
mmc: Ah, yeah, that's right. That person is the resident singer here. Sometimes they play just the piano, like earlier.
Shizuru: Oh, I see. So singing is more of the main thing? I’m looking forward to it.
Yamato: By the way, what about you, Momochi-kun? What do you think of their singing? Is it good?
mmc: Eh? …Oh, yeah. They're pretty good, you know?
Shizuru: If you ask Momochi-kun, it's kind of unfair to the singer, don't you think? I mean, he can sing so well, so it's only natural to have high standards, right?
Shizuru: By the way, I've been wondering about this for a while now…
Shizuru: Momochi-kun, why did you start doing music? Was there a particular reason?
mmc: Huh?
mmc: Let me see... I didn't consciously start doing it myself, but I just naturally started doing it through my relationships with people around me... And there was a piano at home since I was little.
Shizuru: Hmm... Oh, could it be that your parents were also in the music industry?
mmc: No, it's not that big of a deal? Oh, look, it's starting.
[10:52]
mmc: Oh, yeah. I think something like that might have happened.
mmc: I see, you liked that bar. I stopped going there much after that, and I've moved since then.
Shizuru: The atmosphere was good, but above all, isn’t it the best being able to drink while listening to live music by a professional singer?
Shizuru: I want to hire an exclusive singer at my place too. It could be every weekend or every other week.
Shizuru: Does anyone know a good person? We have a piano, so they could incorporate that too.
Yamato: Shizuru can just play it himself.
Yamato: Oh, and how about Momochi-kun singing? Cheers would definitely be happy!
mmc: Eh?
Shizuru: Hmmm, I wasn't really planning on playing it myself.
Shizuru: But if Momochi-kun is going to sing, that's a different story.
Shizuru: We could make it a reservation-only event for that day.
mmc: But if we’re going to do it, we should do it properly as a Veronica live, right? I mean, isn't that what everyone wants?
mmc: This place is great but the number of tables is limited, and there will be many people who won't be able to come to listen if we do it this way… ne?
Yamato: Certainly~ If Momochi is going to sing, this place will be full in seconds.
Shizuru: Hey, don't say things like "this place." We can accommodate twice as many people as when we first opened.
Ohgi: Oh, sorry, I'm late.
Shizuru: Welcome! In fact, you're earlier than I expected.
Yamato: I wonder if Akkun is still on his way?
Yamato: Let's wait until everyone is here to make a toast. For now, let's get started, shall we?
mmc: Y-yeah. We'll just be even more delayed if we wait.
Shizuru: Okay, then let's have some hors d'oeuvres brought in for now.
Shizuru: What's everyone having to drink first?
Ohgi: I'm fine with anything.
Yamato: Actually, what do you have today? I want to choose~!
Shizuru: Um, today we have... Hey, let me show you what's in the cellar.
*"いきなりと釣っちゃう" (ikinari to tsuruccha) in this context means "to suddenly invite (someone)". The idiom "釣る" (tsuru) literally means "to fish".
**I believe Momochi means that he used to have a common last name, until he had to move in with his father in elementary school - and took on his father’s rare last name…? ;; the momochi lore ahh

Hi! recently I read your post about differences you had spotted in the japanese fandom and you mentioned how some people said that tamers wasn't female audience friendly. I don't know if you know why?
(Also I love your blog btw)
Thank you so much! I hope I didn't give the wrong idea (I can't find the specific post but I'm hoping I didn't word it wrong) but it was just one comment I saw that made me think about it a lot; I don't think this is necessarily an opinion beyond just that person, it's just that when I saw it it really stuck out to me and made me really spend time pondering why someone would think that way.
To be more specific, the situation was that an Adventure fan who'd gotten back into it and 02 because of Kizuna brought up Tamers and said they were interested in it, and the commenter said that it was a good series (they were still recommending it, they weren't trying to dissuade!) but warned that it was "more obviously oriented towards a male audience" than the Adventure series (the exact word was 一層男向け).
So I think some specific context about this incident also helps to explain further; it's rather significant that it was said to be potentially less female audience friendly than Adventure-branded works, which were used as a comparison point because the explanation was originally for someone who had never seen anything else besides that. In this case, I think it's less so that Tamers is that female audience-unfriendly as much as the Adventure series is actually considered to be surprisingly female audience friendly for a shounen series of its kind; of course, it still is ultimately made and marketed more for young boys, but it ended up infamously getting a much larger female audience than you'd have expected. The girls having their feelings fleshed out in detail and not constantly having a red arrow on them as The Girls™ of the Group (I think you know what I mean by this) -- something really not very common in shounen anime from 1999-2001 (even now it's not that common) -- made them very relatable to the female audience. And on top of that, you had things like Yamato or Ken infamously being a lot of girls' first love.
And then, well, let's put it this way: it is generally understood that most adult anime fans who made gay fan comics and fanart at the time were female, and so naturally Taichi/Yamato and Takeru/Daisuke got very popular among this crowd. Note the reason why it's Takeru/Daisuke in particular: Ken didn't join the group as an ally or even have a particularly deep interaction with Daisuke (other than episode 8) until halfway into the series, but by that time there were already people enthusiastically churning out gay fanwork with Daisuke and Takeru before anything significant in the series had happened because they were ready for them to be the next Taichi and Yamato. (Obviously, you know how the series actually went, but hindsight is 20/20.) So you had doujinshi artists making and selling gay comics at events, and magazines like Animage and Animedia (generally considered to have a high female reader population) were flooded with subtext-filled gay fanart submissions.
Even now, you can see the subtle acknowledgment that they know Adventure has a ton of adult female fans, given tri. stuff being in the female audience-oriented magazine Otomedia, as well as the tri. stage play even existing at all. (Anime tie-in stage plays are very associated with female audiences, and in fact the actors for the Digimon one even pointed out they had an unusually gender-neutral audience compared to what they were used to.)
So when you look at Tamers in comparison, it's not that it's necessarily giving a cold middle finger to its female audience as much as it's clearly got a lot fewer of the above factors and is more concerned about appealing to the main target of boys, hence the description "more obviously oriented towards a male audience". For instance, fundamentally speaking, Ruki was made to be a "strong" character because they wanted her to appeal to boys (presumably to include ones that wouldn't like "girly-girls"). Now, the good thing is that Ruki ended up becoming important representation for girls who also felt similarly out of place with being pigeonholed as "girls", and I'm not saying Adventure and 02 couldn't have also used some of that too, but keep in mind that the entire development of Ruki's state of mind in this respect has been credited to female writer Yoshimura Genki. I think it's very possible that, in the hands of a different writer, Ruki could have easily fallen into the trap of what I call the "Strong Female Character" Fallacy, which is when you make a female character who's good at violently beating things up but is portrayed more like an object to be cool and hot for the boys than she is a human being because they don't actually bother to pay any respect to her own feelings. (Unfortunately very common with male-oriented works.)
I'm getting off-track here, but my point is that while Adventure and 02 were fundamentally made for boys first, they did have a lot of elements that easily appealed to the female audience and seem to have been outright conscious of the female periphery demographic, perhaps unusually so for shounen anime at the time, whereas Tamers was much less conscious of that and focused more on elements that boys would like, such as plotlines about strength and less on more sentimental things (and there probably really could be something to be said about that kind of attitude's relationship with toxic masculinity, but I don't think we're ready for that conversation, nor do I think the final product went so far in that direction it has nothing sentimental going for it at all or anything).
That said, I can't emphasize enough that this was ultimately one fan's opinion on the Internet, and the reason I ended up resonating with it a bit is that I did at least notice that Adventure and 02 do seem to have a much higher ratio of female fans than Tamers does and thought it would be worth considering why (in fact, even Frontier has come off to me as having a larger ratio of female fans than I've noticed with Tamers). While this might be a bit provocative of a thing to say, I also do get the impression that most of my bad experiences with a certain type of Tamers fan that gets super condescending about its superiority over every other series also does seem to have a suspicious amount of overlap with a certain kind of toxic dudebro fan. However, and I'll put this in bold because it's important, I do not personally believe Tamers being more oriented towards a male audience inherently makes it unfriendly to a female audience. There are a lot of female Tamers fans, including people who are likely reading this post, and ones who found deep connection and meaning with many of the elements in Tamers, and in fact it's a fallacy to conclude that a girl or boy would necessarily like or dislike something (that would be exactly the kind of sentiment that Ruki was trying so hard to work against, after all). Digimon is a shounen series, but at the time Adventure through Frontier originally aired, they aired on the same day as magical girl anime Ojamajo Doremi, so there were a lot of girls (and boys!) who would watch both. Female audience-oriented, male audience-oriented, that's all subjective, and in fact it probably only really matters when it comes to toy sales and capitalism, but that ship's sailed a long time ago. And meanwhile, here I am, as a female fan who likes Tamers myself, so it certainly hasn't turned me off!

What made you start writing?
Tumblr. I had been coming up with ideas for stories since I was a kid. Yamato from Digimon was my very first inspiration, so I was at least 8 when I started coming up with fanfic ideas. I never wrote them, though. I made my first attempt to write down original fic when I was about 14 but it sucked so hard lol, even then I found it so cringe that I threw away the pages! Maybe, somewhere in the backlogs of my files, is a forgotten word document of that time I tried typing it down. Maybe.
Then I made a half-hearted attempt to write a tiny bit of other kind of fanfic when I was 16, I think. Of all places, I wrote it on the last page of my Geometry book. I found it some years back too, lol.
But anyway. On the fall of 2014 I joined tumblr to talk about my then favourite show and blorbo, Killian Jones from Once Upon a Time, and I was surprised to find out how popular fanfic writing was. Then I realized I had my own ideas, and had been having such for years, but I was too uncertain of my writing abilities and not being a native English speaker, it took me a lot of time to actually post something. I did, on ffnet, it got one single review and it was a negative one too, so I deleted it. But then I went like, no, fuck that reviewer, and I ended up posting another fic, which I call my first "official" fic on September of 2015, and I haven't looked back since.
It's been almost seven years since, and I've developed so much and found the things I like and am good at writing, and I'm so happy I've discovered this form of expression. It probably won't reach anywhere outside fanfic writing, but it's enough for me!
Send me an emoji!

@baeddel this piqued my interest so I did some (very cursory) looking around!
While keeping in mind that it’s an anonymous source on the internet, going off of an excerpt of this:
A long time ago, according my grandfather, ever since the Heian practice there’s been this form of Buddhist exorcism: As other answers have mentioned, when a male infant is sickly and seems unlikely to survive early childhood, as it was believed that there was a diety that imparted illnesses only onto male children, would dress and be raised as a girl until the age of seven.
However, that in and of itself got me thinking about Bridget’s setting and that the theme of twins being seen as inauspicious is really common in japanese fiction and that I’m pretty sure in Bridget’s case the idea that identical twins were inauspicious was not the beliefs of a weird cult at all but something closer to local suspicion. In any case, this was an interesting read:
Within written japanese history, the oldest mention of twins and their being referred to as imigo, is in chapters 7 and 12 of the Nihon Shoki with regard to Emperor Keikō.
To quote:
Unto the emperor were born two sons. The first was called Ōusu-no-miko, the send Ousu-no-mikoto. Ōusu-no-miko and Ousu-no-mikoto were born on the same day of the water of the same womb. Because of this this Emperor Keikō was deeply anxious. And shouted “millstone” (usu) at them. [I don’t understand either, but that certainly is what’s written here and in other sources I can find.]”
Such as this was, that very younger twin, Ousu-no-mikoto, grew up to be the greatest hero of ancient Japanese history, who appears as the protagonist as of countless local myths, legends, and epic poetry, Yamato Takeru [He’s much less known outside of Japan, but it’s said that he was responsible for much of the Kofun-era northern expansion of the kingdom Yamato, and many successful campaigns against other early Japanese kingdoms such as Izumo, Kibi, and Koshi.] That in the life of such an epic and tragic figure as Yamato Takeru the text feels it necessary to deliberately point out the status of Takeru as a twin implies that the custom of dislike for twins had already taken root at the time [During the Asuka/Nara period].
The age in which twins were viewed with the most suspicion was the Edo period, and in particular upon the birth of fraternal twins, It was said that they bore the souls of a pair of lovers who died in double-suicide. It’s believed this suspicion dates to the spike in lovers’ suicides due to the popularity of “Sonezaki Shinjuu” by Monzaemon Chikamatsu, which moved Edo and Osaka to pass laws banning theatrical works featuring lovers’ suicides. [hyperlink mine] As a consequence, families would would report one child as a stillbirth, and abandon the child. Around the beginning of the Showa period, the custom of sutego-youji came about, where a newborn twin would be given away for adoption, and the foster parents would rais the child as their own, and the birth parents would swear to never come forward as the child’s parents (This was, of course, illegal).
Going by examples such as these, the custom was not rare, and not only twins but also children born to parents in an inauspicious year for them were also called imigo and given up as sutego-youji. The custom of naming potential imigo “Emiko” if a girl and “Sutekichi” if a boy, to rid them of their inauspicious fate continued up until the postwar period.

I got you. I would have requested something for Gin a long time ago if it wasn't because of how his character is. Almost all the ideas I have will make him 100% out of character, and nothing goes well with him unless its dark concepts/topics which don't follow your blog. So I don't blame you not knowing how to end that story. Otherwise it would have turned into something that needs a lot of trigger warnings 😂🌸. I am looking forward to your next stories, including Yamato 💙🙏. Burbon is a lovely guy, sometimes 😂 but still good. My 2nd favourite character after Gin. Who is your fav ?
This is honestly such a hard question that I won't even able to narrow it down to a top 5.
I mean, I obviously find Gin quite interesting and enjoy his character, just as Bourbon's character, but I also really like the whole FBI squad, especially Akai and Camel.
Of course I really like more popular characters like Kaito Kid as well, but I wouldn't necessarily say he's one of my favourites.
However I do have a very soft spot for the police department, especially the Nagano trio, the tokyo police department (with spot on Sato, Shiratori and Takagi) and the two Yokomizo brothers.
I don't know why but I have a true fable for side characters XD
If I had to narrow it down to five characters however, I would have to go with Gin, Akai, Shiratori, Yamato and Komei, with Bourbon, Jodie and Camel close to it.
It's honestly so hard for me, which isn't usually the case and just shows how good most of those characters are. Sorry if that's not a good answer but I seriously can't decide

I saw something like this with Tsurugi and it was adorable, so can I have Teruya, Kakeru, Haru, and Yamato with an S/o calling them in the middle of the night because they couldn’t stop thinking about them, and they realized how much they love them
OKAY I LOVED WRITING THIS I HAD A SMILE THE ENTIRE TIME! I hope you enjoy these ((:
-----------------------------------
TERUYA, KAKERU, HARUHIKO, AND YAMATO WHEN THEIR SO CALLS THEM SAYING THEY LOVE THEM
Tumblr media
TERUYA
-You had to have called him a bunch of times to even get him to wake up in all honesty, like I imagine he is a HEAVY sleeper. He probably woke up after a few and went back to sleep
-When he realized it was you his face lit up cause he loved whenever you called him! So believe me when I say he sounded more than ecstatic when he finally picked up.
-The moment you start spilling about how much you love him his face lights up even more. He’s half asleep and isn’t able to understand you well at all but he’s enjoying every moment of this.
-He’s 1000% gonna return the favor in the morning, you’re gonna be pepper with kisses and praise, it's insane. He might even spend some time making a new popular outfit just for the way you lit up his night
Tumblr media
KAKERU
-Okay genuinely when you called him this late at night (he was working on case files at the time) he was scared as hell. What could be happening to you???
-You could hear the panic in his voice when he picked up the phone. Kakeru was asking a bunch of questions to make sure you were alright.
-But you stopped him with your little love ramble and it actually brought him to tears. He feels so genuinely lucky to have someone that would do this, especially when he’s working through a rather hard case. I mean you didn’t know he was but still it was nice.
-He doesn’t know how to react though, he keeps trying to just say that he loves you too but it’s not that easy for him. He’ll wait until morning for that!
Tumblr media
HARUHIKO
-He was knocked out cold when you called him but I think he keeps his phone SUPER loud so you woke him up. He was hella drowsy but was happy to talk to you
-I dunno why but I imagine that he also started to cry when you went on your little ramble. But unlike Kakeru, it actually takes him a bit to start crying. He’s really giggly when he’s crying too
-Does he wanna go back to sleep? Oh 1000% but he’s not gonna hang up the phone cause someone deserves the same treatment now, sleep can wait!
-This becomes a pretty normal thing for the two of you actually! It’s more likely that you’ll start it but there are plenty of times when Hiro does.
Tumblr media
YAMATO
-Okay so my ideas for Yamato are kinda weird. I know the ask says that Y/N called him to start rambling but for some reason I imagine that you guys were already talking to each other already.
-Like you just start to ramble out of nowhere in the middle of your talk with each other. Yamato has no damn issue with this cause, well why would he? He loves hearing this!
-But this is Yamato, expect to have him try and one-up you with this whole thing. You’re talking about how pretty he is? Prepared to be berated with compliments.
-This is gonna go on for hours I promise you. You both will only get two hours or not get any sleep at all I promise you, he may try to do this again tbh.

One Piece Chapter 1054 - Initial Thoughts
Tumblr media
AND. WE. ARE. BACK.
That was a long 4 weeks, but finally we can resume regular One Piece programming. What awaits us from the post-25th Anniversary celebrations? Let's not wait any longer
Spoilers for the Chapter, Support the Official Release Too
For the cover page we have the new Yonko, confirming again Luffy's colour scheme
I know that title's an Ace reference too
Just as Aramaki comes towards the Flower Capital though, the Akazaya (minus Kin'emon who's with his wife and Kiku who I would guess is still in mourning) and Shinobu confront the Admiral
Urgh, he's pro-Akainu and pro-Celestial Dragons? I'd spit on him but he'd use it for sustenance
Because he has the Forest-Forest Fruit, occam's razor I guess, he's a logia too so Fujitora's Paramecia is the odd Admiral out, the Oddmiral
His fruit is mighty powerful though, it seems like he's awakened too
Prejudice breeds Stability? Fuck Off man!
I dunno what justice you follow but murder is still pretty damn illegal, the World Government is not the only kind of enforcement?
Yamato shows up with the smack, and so does Momo
Momo's blast breath doesn't quite work though and he becomes entangled by the forest man
Strangely though, Momo tells Yamato and the samurai to stand down. Is he going to negotiate?
Well look who it is just in time for promoting a movie about his daughter?
Shanks is in Wano upon news that Luffy is now a Yonko
Yasopp I don't think you're ever gonna be ready to meet Usopp because there's a lot of baggage there to unfold
Proud Papa Shanks though, followed by flashback of Feral Papa Shanks stealing the DF from CP9 and a glimpse of Who's Who
It does feel like he knew the truth of the fruit, at least it's being implied
Having the gorilla man call Luffy 'a rampaging demon monkey' is a good pun, wonder what Sore Omae Dayo means *checks* 'That's You'? hmmm
Shanks decides against meeting with Luffy though, they're fellow Yonko now and Barto did claim a territory under Luffy without any idea that they're connected
Shanks now is going after the One Piece! The Red Haired Pirate is Making His Move!
And now over to Marineford and we're getting more Reverie reveals
Sabo is not dead, he's become a hero as the 'Flame Emperor'
They say he killed Cobra though, and that his popularity is because he killed him due the Nefertari being former Celestial Dragons
Attack Homes and a monument huh, I buy one of those
And they even got Kuma out!
And Vivi is now missing!
Their ship hasn't left port and you don't find that suspect?
Charloss was almost assassinated too? So close ¬_¬ Mjosgard pardoned them though so I wonder if that's just the whole Shirahoshi incident
Now many countries are rebelling though in Sabo's name, which explains the giant poster. His Luffy ties help rally people too
The god worship may be a bit much though, I would be wary of that
And be extra worried about what Akainu plans as fighting back, he could easily go all gestapo on people...
Back and off the ground running
To be fair Oda could've had a super quiet chapter and we'd still praise it for being back, but this is setting up a lot of things for the final saga. Hell we haven't even touched on Buggy or Blackbeard yet so still a lot more to come.
I'm surprised the Samurai were the one to cut off Aramaki, plus Yamato. I feel like at least the Straw Hats with Observation Haki know he's there. Yamato showing up feels strange to go alone, he's acting more like Momo's bodyguard than someone who desperately wants to leave the country. With Aramaki's disregard for Wano's civilians I do wonder if he'll be forced to make a deal.
Shanks showing up is some tasty stuff too. Not only is Luffy now being held in the same esteem and the OGs are mega proud of him, but now the real game begins. Shanks and Luffy are now expected to clash - no thanks to Barto not knowing his history - and to motivate Luffy into overthrowing his idol he's gonna go after the One Piece as well! I mean, Luffy does want to save Shanks for last but I don't think he's gonna get to choose, but I expect it to be bantering competition like Whitebeard and Roger used to.
And then the Reverie stuff, Sabo sure made himself the next Che Guevara there. But even with word of Cobra dead and Vivi missing I couldn't help but grin. Because I see through it, it's going just as I expected it to.
Make no mistake, I'm confident that both Vivi is not in danger, and Sabo did not kill Cobra. The reports simply here that he did, and attacked homes, because the WG intends to villainize him. In reality I bet that he thwarted the Gorosei's assassination of Vivi and she's with the army now, Cobra could be dead protecting his daughter, but he could also be alive but unrecognizable from Jewelry Bonney's power - who was not mentioned at all in reports. Kuma being released is a big plus for the Army, so long as they find a way to get his mind back, and for that they'll need Vegapunk.
To top all this off, public unrest is on the rise, much like real life events. Revolution is in the air which means the RA will be more prominent, and the Marines will be forced to re-establish order as the WG's behest.
Despite all this we still don't know what's going on with Drake, Hawkins, Apoo, Caribou, if Yamato and/or Carrot will become Nakama, Zoro and the reaper, the Vinsmoke's escape from Whole Cake Island, Big Mom and Kaido's status, Big Mom's ship around Wano, Pluton, how Buggy became Yonko and all the other Warlord's status.
There's plenty still to learn, but it all kicks off from here.

It is OC ship week and I actually got something finished, I'm so proud of myself. Anyway, some Modern AU stuff for my babes. :3
Sarutobi Sora, art, info, [clickerino]
Modern AU - Escort Service
Yamato | Tenzo x OC
PG 18+
5731 words
vaginal sex, oral sex
for @narutoocshipweek Day 1: Modern AU.
In a desperate attempt to finally get it over with Yamato hires an escort from a popular service.
Ridiculous as it was, Yamato found himself waiting back leaned against a lamppost on a monday evening, hand pressed tightly around the phone in his hand, trying hard not to stare too hard at the displayed clock. His “date” wasn’t late, he had just arrived incredibly early, too nervous to sit still a few minutes longer, at least not with the plans he had for tonight. He had been so resolute in the morning, set out to right a wrong that had always existed  in his life, or at least in the last 26 years of it.
It had become unbearable around his guy friends,  with them constantly talking about their sexual exploits and mocking Yamato for his lack of. It had not been for him not trying, he had tried, he had even kissed others before, but nothing more had ever come of it. Maybe he was too emotionally stunted to continue, maybe he just wasn’t attractive enough, whatever it was, he found himself a virgin at 26, with all his friends already much further advanced in life.
Coworkers had invited him to mixers and other events, but he had always been busy, working maybe a little too hard in his corporate office job as another slave to society and capitalism. It left him empty and yearning for a type of physical touch he’d never felt before. He wanted sex. He wanted to have it and to have had it. He wanted what his friends told him about.
So in desperation and in a lack of other options, he had contacted an escort service to hire someone. He knew how that looked and how his male friends would snicker at him, but he didn’t have issues with sex work personally and they could provide him with a service he needed, so why not try it? After a thorough research online he found a very reputable agency that also had a proud price for that, and called them.
There was a call, and a meeting over video chat, and a survey, and another survey. The Heart to Heart  agency wasn’t the best in the business for no reason at all. Yamato tried his best to present himself, explain his hygiene, the job and his preference in partners (which was pretty much none). All through he had been very nervous, playing with a little wooden figure that he had once made when he was much younger.
Finally, they found someone for him. Codename Ivy, about his age, good with beginners, free on evenings he was free and comfortable with all the sexual activities he was willing to do (which he just guessed on, because he had no idea in the first place). “Can I see a picture of her?” he asked carefully. One of the specialities of the Heart to Heart agency was that the client did not get to choose the partner, rather the partner was matched to the client. And as far as Yamato could tell from online reviews, this approach worked very well.
“Uh, yes, we can send you a headshot now that you booked the appointment”, his contact told him as a reply. His hands were shaking when he opened the email and loaded in. A young woman smiled at him, wide, open green eyes flashing from his computer screen. Her hair was light red and her skin, at least as much as he could see, looked like nothing he’d ever seen before. A date was arranged for Monday night after work. He was waiting in front of the shopping mall to be picked up.
Which brought him to where he was now, staring down on his phone’s clock by the second. Yamato was shivering and pulled his collar up so that it covered his chin like he so often did. Maybe if she didn’t come he would get his money back, he mused. Maybe if she didn’t come it would be better this way. But then he shook the thought away. All the hoops he had jumped through to get here meant that it was worth sticking around, after all Ivy wasn’t even late yet.
The clock struck one minute after eight and she was officially late, he thought, still staring at his shoes. He didn’t have the chance to look at his phone again, because someone tapped him on the shoulder: “You must be Yamato right?” He snapped his eyes up. She was a little smaller than he had imagined, though he had gotten her exact size, her hair fell long over her shoulders and now that she was close to him he could see some freckles on her nose. There were many piercings in her ears on both sides and he wondered immediately if she also had piercings in other places. She was incredibly pretty, even more than her picture was.
“I am - yes”, he said, stuttering a little. She put her head to the side so that it almost fell on his shoulder: “I’m Ivy. Very nice to meet you. I will be in your care.”  Ivy moved her arm under his to hold it. Yamato blushed immediately at the intimate touch. “A-and I in yours.”
She moved her body closer to his, wrapping around his right arm and pressing it to her body. He could feel her boobs even through the layer of jackets she was wearing and his breath hitched. “Are you ready to go?” Ivy asked with a warm smile. She made it sound like they were on a date, made it look like one too. Maybe that was the way they always did it to ensure people kept coming back.
Ivy knew a Love Hotel to go to that wasn’t too far, maybe it belonged to the agency, Yamato did not know for sure, though he did not have to pay for a room. They just went into the elevator and up and into a room. All the way through the woman did small talk with him, asking about his health and his day at work. Taught well in pleasantries he did ask questions back, but Ivy only replied in non descriptive answers. She was doing fine now that she was with him, she had been busy that day and was glad to unwind, a lady did not reveal her age and such. Well they had code names for a reason.
On first view the hotel room looked sparse, a barred up window, a big bed, a big mirror right on the other side of the bed, a door to the bathroom and that was it. It smelled clean and Ivy immediately peeled herself out of her coat and hung it up on the door. Yamato wondered for a moment how often she had been here and with how many people, but he let it go. “We should clean ourselves”, Ivy said with her sweet smile, walking over to help him get out of his own jacket. “Do you want to bathe together?”
Yamato almost dropped the shoe he had just taken off and his face suddenly felt very hot. “I- I don’t really-” he started, feeling stupid for stuttering so much. After all he was going to have to undress in front of her sooner or later, so what was the issue with a bath together?
“Don’t worry, we can do that another time. You can go first if you like. I will set everything up”, she said to save him out of his indecision, a hand softly stroking his back. He breathed out hard, wondering what it was that had roped him in so easily. The eyes, it must be the eyes.
When he exited the bathroom he noticed that she had changed some things, ruffed up the sheets a little to make them more comfortable and also there was tea ready for him to drink. Now, on second view, he could see all the little drawers all around which when he opened it he could find clothes, toys, lube and other nicknacks. Of course, he thought, this was a love hotel after all. He felt skirmish at the idea of what could be done with all of them. His nerves returned with a vengeance.
Not sure what to do with himself Yamato sat down on the edge of the bed. After the bath he had only put on a robe and his underwear, acutely aware that he would need to take it off sooner or later anyway. He bit his lower lip until it bled and listened to the water splashing from the bathroom. His mind’s eye played theatre for him, showing him Ivy running her hands over her body under the water. He shook it off. Why fantasise now when he could see her in reality in just a few short minutes. But then the idea of it made his stomach turn again.
Ivy walked out also only dressed in a robe, and by the amount of clothes she was carrying folded to the bedroom he could also guess that she was naked underneath. He would have probably been immediately turned on by this, but his heart fluttered with nerves still and so his brain could not stop thinking about, well, everything.
Yamato let out a sharp breath when she sat down right beside him, her skin still damp from the bath. He could see down her top opened robe easily and felt indecent at even taking a peek of her naked breasts. “So”, she said sugar sweet, “what would you like me to do? I am at your disposal.”
“I- I don’t really know..” he replied and felt like a total idiot. She did not stop smiling and instead circled with her fingernail in his nape. “Would you like to kiss me?” she asked, her nose touching his shoulder softly. He felt the blush on his cheeks deepen, but then he nodded slowly. Kissing was something he had done before, he knew how it worked.
Ivy moved forward but he met her in the air, soft, wet lips touching his for the first time in years. Her mouth was a little smaller, her lips a little thinner, but he melted under her anyway. The hand in his neck now moved up into his hair to scratch his scalp and he groaned a little against his will. He let her tongue meet hers when she tapped his lips and asked for it and tasted in her mouth that she too had had tea before, probably with a lot of sugar. She tasted as sweet as her smile looked.
She let her free hand fall down on his leg, moving the robe out of the way just enough so she could stroke over his naked skin. Yamato felt the goosebumps run up the side of his body like little spiders and drew back a little, the insecurity suddenly there again. Salvia was dropping down between them as their tongues moved away from each other.
“You’re really good at kissing”, she praised him and though he immediately thought she was lying to him he could not stop feeling happy about being complimented. Her hand was now running along the inside of his naked leg up to where his boxers were and back down. His heart beat in his ears. “Do you wish for me to touch it?” she asked, kissing his jawline softly. He breathed out and in and out again, trying to regain his composure. He wanted her to touch it, but he wasn’t even half hard yet, his nerves torpedoing him at every angle.
Ivy noticed his hesitation and took a finger to move his head so that she could look at him: “I will not do anything you don’t want to do, alright? I would never force you to do anything.” She kissed him. “But if you trust me, I will help you relax. Will you at least let me try?” she asked, nose again touching his arm.
“Y-Yes,” Yamato said as a reply. Ivy smiled wide again. She let go of his shoulders and sank to her knees. He swallowed hard. “That is a strange tattoo that you have on your shoulder,” she said, now settling between his legs, pushing them apart just slightly so she could angle herself. “Does it stand for something?”
He tried to keep it together, trying not to think too hard of her fingers diving under the hemline of his pants. “I- I got it with friends. It’s j- just a symbol we connected with our time together” he replied, stuttering more than he’d ever wanted to.
She hummed a pleasant almost song-like sound and then she let her hand move over his cock for the first time, a flat hand just pressing over it, touching and feeling it and he held his breath. It was like a magic spell had been cast. The entire time they’d been together Yamato had been too nervous to even get an erection and now, with just one touch, even if there was a thin layer of clothing in between, she had gotten him full hard.
“Do you want me to touch you further?” Ivy asked from between his legs and when he looked down at her he could almost read the eagerness in her face. This time he nodded and she immediately hooked her fingers under his pants to pull them. He let her, breath come out quick and nervous as she pulled the pants down and helped him out of them.
“You can always tell me to stop,” she clarified another time, pressing a kiss to the inside of his leg. Yamato put his hand into a fist and let his fingernails bury into the insides of his hands: “U-understood.”
Not waiting another second she let her lips grace over him. He felt the movement like an electric shock. Fantasy could not compare to reality. In his wildest dreams he could have never imagined how it felt like when another human being ran their tongue along his shaft and over his tip, how absolutely thrilling it felt when one licked down over his balls and back up. And nothing, absolutely nothing had prepared him for the view. Seeing a pretty woman lick all around his cock must be the most beautiful sight in the world, he thought.
Ivy must have noticed that he eased into it because she moved onward without asking for permission a second time. She broadly licked over him and then she took him into her mouth fully. Yamato was sure he saw stars just a flicker of a second as she closed in warm and wet all around him, sucking at the tip and licking the bottom with her tongue. She could go in deep without pulling back, taking all of him easily.
When she moved his brain turned off. He let out a moan that he had not been able to hold back and threw his head into his neck. Ivy moaned too, a little muffled, each time his cock hit the back of her throat and maybe he would have finished right there, in just a matter of seconds, if she didn’t stop the movement just short before he could get there.
“This is not what you have come here to do, is it?” Ivy asked friendly, her breath on his cock making him shiver. He was desperate for his finish now, but he knew she was right. Not waiting for a reply she straightened her back and got up. “I’m glad you got to relax a little, I hope you enjoyed it.”
Yamato almost said: “Of course I did!” but his words stayed stuck in the back of his throat as Ivy opened the robe she was still wearing and let it sink to the ground. She was so beautiful it took his breath away for a moment. Hair long enough to cover her nipples at the front, hips smaller than maybe other women but perfectly balanced out with her figure and the skin- the thing he had noticed about her headshot immediately- looked breathtaking on her fully naked body.
It was like vines, crawling up her legs and arms, her torso and neck up to her face. Strings of lighter skin than the rest of her. Like she’d been tied up and sunbathed wrong. He let his eyes wander up and down the little swirls and didn’t notice that his mouth hung open until he let out a breathed: “Ivy.”
She smiled and bowed down to kiss him softly: “That’s right. I was born like this. Wrapped up in leaves.” He looked at her with half opened eyes, lips slightly parted and he knew that his body language was telling her everything she needed to know about him. That he wanted her now, that he wanted her more than he’d already gotten her. She put a finger under his chin and kissed him again.
When she drew back her moss green eyes were lit up with excitement. “Do you know how a condom is to be used?” she asked sweetly and his heart did a flip inside his chest. Right, that was what he had come here for in the first place. Yamato nodded and looked to the bedside drawer in which he had found condoms before. The choice was almost overwhelming. They had all kinds of sizes, colours, shapes, tastes… Faced with yet another choice he suddenly felt insecure again.
He could feel red hair fall over his shoulder and then felt Ivy’s hands on his back. “Standart is probably fine for today, don’t you think?” she asked and pressed a soft kiss to his temple. Again, he could do nothing but nod, feeling very dizzy under her soft touches and warm skin.
Fortunately the nerves hadn’t ruined what Ivy had spent so long building up and so he had no issues pulling the condom on. He took a deep breath to calm himself, this was after all the moment he had been waiting for so many years, the very reason he had even gone to such desperate lengths, but then Yamato turned around.
“Lie down on your back”, Ivy said, patting the bed sheets below her, “Make yourself as comfortable as you can.” He felt so hot looking at her like this, completely naked, hair long and wild over her wrapped up skin, inviting him to come to bed. It was all a lie of course, all paid for and arranged, but still, the fantasy was enticing. “Oh, and take the robe off”, she added with a laugh that sounded so cute that he almost made an “aww”-sound before he could stop himself.
The robe landed on the floor, there was nothing to hide about himself anymore now. Next time, he thought, he would definitely go to the bath with her. He immediately after that scolded himself for already thinking about the next time. He hadn’t even successfully finished the first one.
He laid down on his back, head on the pillow behind him. He tried to keep his eyes away from Ivy, who watched him closely. “I- I think this is fine”, Yamato said eventually, a little stuttery about it all. She rewarded him with her best smile and a hand on his arm.
Ivy swung her right leg over his hips and then held his cock up so that she could angle herself. He could feel his heart beat loud against this rib cage. “We can always stop if you want to, yes?” Ivy checked with him one more time. He nodded weakly to indicate that he had understood and she smiled again. “Let’s start then.” She moved him a little to lead his tip to her entrance and then, slowly, lowered herself down over him.
She sighed once he was in her fully, letting her arms fall back onto his legs to take in the length and size of him with her eyes closed. Yamato, on the other hand, was losing his mind. He had thought nothing could compare to the feeling of his cock in her mouth and certainly it had been a heavenly experience, but this - this - was too much. Even through the fabric of the condom he could feel how wet she was, how warm she was and how well she fit over him.
“You certainly have a good size”, Ivy said after a moment of quiet in which he revelled in the encompassing feeling of what he was doing. “Fills me completely.” He bit his lip a little, squirming away from the compliment that she was only giving him because he paid for it. Then he lifted his eyes to look at her directly. From his angle he could see the way her boobs were formed, her hair falling long over her arched back, the thighs on both sides of him and then the vines running over her body like a protective coating. He wondered subconsciously if he’d ever met a woman that was this beautiful.
Straightening out her spine she readied herself and then she started rolling her hips into him. Yamato’s mouth fell open as if it was evading his control. He let the moans out and threw his own head back into the pillows. Ivy steadily lifted her body up just so that only his tip remained inside of her and then went back down and he realised suddenly why people called this “riding”. “You can hold on to me if you like,” Ivy’s voice came to him as if through a thick curtain and he didn’t let her offer it twice. His fingernails duck into her thighs to his sides and now she moaned a little too.
It was clear that he wouldn’t be able to hold it for long. Not with his little experience and the preparations Ivy had done with her mouth before. He crawled himself a little tighter into her flesh and pressed his eyes shut, because the view of her bouncing over him just sped up the process. He tried to summon all the willpower he had to keep it going. He knew he was fighting a losing battle, but he was trying to find it anyway.
“Don’t force yourself”, Ivy’s sweet voice said into his ear. She had leaned forward to kiss his jaw and face and ear, “You can let go. You can let it go for me.” He groaned and did as she asked, finishing with a furor while she was still rolling her hips unrelenting over him. He wasn’t surprised that masturbating didn’t compare to this at all, but the intensity of it still almost knocked him out. He looked up to Ivy as she was slowing down, his lips again parted and needy and she granted him his wish, bowing over to give him her sweet lips again.
Ivy gave him a moment to collect himself, to reach for some paper and wrap the condom up in it before walking first to the trashcan and then to the bathroom. Yamato had read that the first time could be a bit quick, but he still felt a bit bad about it. No way she had enjoyed any of that, he thought, but then again he was the paying customer anyway.
When he returned she was laying on the bed, still naked, and her head was propped up on her flat hand. She smiled as he slowly crawled back next to her, insecure if he was even allowed to just lay with her or not. She wrapped her arm around his just like she had done earlier when they were still fully clothed and put her head on his shoulder.
“Are you a little less stressed now?” she asked, her breath warm against his neck. He replied with a hum. Ivy softly stroked over his arm and his body eased into hers. “It will only get easier with time”, she continued, her fingers drawing on his chest, “There will come a time in which you won’t be nervous at all.”
“Maybe”, Yamato mumbled. “Maybe next time will already be better.” He tried to bite his tongue when his brain caught on to what his tongue was saying, but it was too late. He had again insinuated that he would book her again, and fairly soon too. He shook himself a little and then acted as if he hadn’t just said that.
For a while they just lay there together, her head in the crook of his neck and her fingers wandering over his naked front side, while he admired the vines on her skin and her hair and wondered how much time they had left together. Then as if to pull him out of a trance Ivy said: “Do you want to do it for me too?” He blinked down into her green eyes. “Help me lose myself?”
He considered this for a moment. Then: “I don’t know how.” The words tasted bitter on Yamato’s tongue and he wished his reply would be a different one, but unfortunately his experience was so very limited and only encompassed touching a woman’s boobs one or two times.
“But you would?” Ivy pressed on, her nose touching the side of his cheek. He nodded and shrugged his shoulders, which got her smiling even wider. “That’s very good of you. Let me teach you how.” He could feel goosebumps on his arms as she said this and his breath hitched a little.
Ivy wrapped herself up in his arm, snailing it around her shoulders so it rested under her head like a pillow, then she softly took his free hand and set it on her abdomen. Yamato was now laying sideways facing her and before he could say anything else she had touched his chin and pulled him down to her.
He was glad to have her mouth on his again, the taste of her sweet tongue touching and caressing his. It drew him back into her instantly, his fingers behind her head finding the loose strands of her hair almost on instinct. She let her hand trace down the arm that was hanging over her chest and pulled it up to her breasts. “Try yourself out”, she breathed as she drew back and let his hand go. Yamato tried to remember how it was the last time he had done it and he cupped her right boob between his hands. It felt surprisingly fitting, as if the size was made to be held by him. Then he rolled the nipples between his fingers, eyes opened just a little so that he could look at her face.
“Give me your hand”, she demanded and he did, parting his fingers from her breast and putting it back into her hand. She led it to her mouth and he gasped a little as she put two inside to suck on it, coating both his middle and pointer finger in thick saliva. “Do it again”, she instructed, green eyes fixed on him with an intensity that made him feel hot. He did as she had told him, moving back to the nipples to pinch them lightly, now with the wet fingers. His movement was rewarded with a sighed “Just like that” and he continued moving forward.
Yamato found her mouth again, feeling the way her tongue now seemed more wanting than it previously had. Her hand on his arm was lightly scratching him in pleasure and he kept going, switching from the right to the left boob and back at his will.
Eventually Ivy placed her hand on top of his and showed him in that way that he needed to stop. He let his finger be led further down her body until they settled between her legs. His heart beat in his own ears when he noticed how wet she was. That was almost as arousing as seeing her head around his cock.
Ivy let his hand go just for a moment so she could feel between her own legs, then she picked his up again. “Right here, I want you to stroke in circles over this spot” she said and he had to set himself up a little to reach it fully. Her legs opened up a little wider for him to gain access and he once again followed her instruction.
She moaned as he circled her clit first, still wholly unaware where everything was. So he decided to keep his eyes open and locked on her, watching the way her body reacted to each little swirl of his hand. Ivy’s cheeks were flushed red now, her breath hard and expecting. He loved drinking that view. She was so beautiful.
“You can pinch it too”, she pressed out and he did, which rewarded him with her eyelids fluttering close.  “That’s it.”
He felt emboldened by her reactions, so he lifted his finger away from her clit to put it into her entrance instead. Ivy didn’t hesitate for a second to lightly slap his wrist. “Not there.” It was an order and he obeyed. He returned to the more familiar place between her legs, moving his thumb over her now.
Without opening her eyes she felt for the hand that was still behind her head and placed it on top of her right breast, moving closer to his body so he could. “Touch here”, she said and he did as was asked of him. It wasn’t as easy to figure out the rhythm of two different hands doing different things, but he got the hold of it eventually.
Ivy’s mouth opened lightly and Yamato imagined that this was how he must have looked just an hour earlier. He bowed down so he could kiss her, forcing her tongue to obey him. it was a different way of arousal to feel her breath in his mouth, the way her sighs tasted when he moved or pinched her. It gave him a new position of power he had never found himself in and there was this second when it crossed his mind that this might be the reason it was so popular among some people. Sex was nothing but a power play.
She drew back before she came and gave him a foggy look from below low eyelids, then her body jerked a little backwards, back arched up into his touch. It took him a moment to realise what was happening to her having never seen an orgasm outside of a porno movie before and so he almost took his hand away out of fear of hurting her. Ivy caught his wrist as it moved back, holding it steady where it was and he kept circling his thumb like she had shown him, ewen when her free hand scratched his arm so much that it hurt.
“Good job”, she smiled at him after she had calmed a little and he had cleaned his hand with a piece of paper. “You did that terribly well. Fast learner.”
“That’s what my teachers always said”; Yamaot mumbled in reply.
Ivy rolled over to touch him again, fingers tracing up into his face and brown hair. He couldn’t hold the gasp back, couldn’t stop himself from wanting to kiss her again, but as he leaned forward her phone rang.
As if she had been stung by a bee she let go of his cheek and moved back: “Time is up.” Her voice was still sweet, as sweet as it had been the entire time, but she was in business mode now, finding her underwear in the pile of clothes she had left on the drawer to their opposite.
Yamato had totally forgotten how much time had passed since they entered. He had paid for two hours in total and at least twenty minutes of that was spent showering (which to their credit the agency did warn him about and suggested booking more time, but he decided against it). He too got up to find his clothes and his eyes fell over the bathrobe that was laying on the floor next to his feet. The way Ivy had peeled it off her made his skin prickle, but fantasising needed to wait until he was at home. Unfortunately.
“You can book me again through the app, if you wish”, Ivy said as she closed the button down she had been wearing under her thick coat. She looked good with it, the white and mind green complimenting her hair colour and skin perfectly. “You should know now how it works. You can also, obviously, book one of my colleagues if you wish, plus in the app you can also add a person.”
“Add?” Yamato’s head swirled a little at the prospect of adding a third person to these sessions. “Yes, a man or a woman, as you wish. It can be fun with three people, but it would obviously cost extra,” Ivy reached for her coat and he handed it to her, watching her wrapping herself back up into the warmth of it. She seemed much more informal now, less sweet talking and more conversing like a normal person at work. He figured that this was the genuine person behind the codename shining through and it made him interested to know more, though he knew that was against the rules.
Instead he asked in genuine worry: “It is rather late and dark out. Do you have to get home on your own now?” Part of him wished that he could accompany her home to make sure nobody could hurt her, but he also knew that would never be allowed. If they had met organically and hooked up as actual lovers maybe he could have had that privilege as to know her address and her apartment and to take her out on dates that did not involve a love hotel. But they were not and so he had to keep it together. “I have to”, she replied with a smile and sounded genuinely thankful for his concern.
They said goodbye in front of the hotel quickly and painlessly so that nobody could spot them standing around there. Yamato was glad that he had chosen this escort agency, no matter how embarrassing it ended up being. Ivy had been a good first partner and he found himself browsing the app for free appointments during his train ride home already.

@valtren: “Can I request Joe and Mimi? :)”
Oh, that’s a good one, thanks for the request, I’ll dive right into it!
Send me two names among the following 12 and I’ll write a short analysis post about them:
Taichi Yagami | Yamato Ishida | Sora Takenouchi | Koushirou Izumi | Mimi Tachikawa | Jyou Kidou | Takeru Takaishi | Hikari Yagami | Daisuke Motomiya | Miyako Inoue | Iori Hida | Ken Ichijouji
Tumblr media
Whether canon provides input on them or not:
You absolutely bet it does, which is one of the main reasons why it baffles me they’re not more popular to begin with. One might argue that it’s because of their age difference, but we shall get to that later, let’s start at the beginning, shall we: It’s more subtle at the beginning of Adventure, but Jyou’s and Mimi’s path are crossing one another quite frequently due to various reasons. First of all, they are implied to have known each other before entering the Digital World, as Jyou calls Mimi out for carrying the food rations he was supposed to give her and the novel even makes a point about them having been assigned to the same group together, thus making him basically her superior. We do have a power dynamic at play here and for a good chunk of the anime, they’re mainly set up to be comic relief towards/with each other (sometimes with Sora or other characters added to the mix), nothing really goes too deep so far - until we get to the Dark Masters’ arc. Both of them have been confronted with their priority systems throughout the Vamdemon arc - and this set up theme will stick with them for the rest of the series, intertwining at several points.
Jyou has been struggling with his sense of responsibility (just like Sora); he’s unsure whether or not he can be the leader he expects himself to be for the others or whether he wants to become a doctor just like his father expects of him, thus questioning his purpose. Mimi on the other hand goes through an arc of self discovery that begins with her refusing to fight and see more loved ones die - and Jyou decides to stay behind with her, joining her on that journey that makes both of them come to the conclusion that there are things they may not like or may not be good at, but that they have to find a solution for themselves. For Jyou, that’s committing to his own path, choosing it for himself, accepting that leadership and fighting may not be his primary way to support - for Mimi, it’s finding a middle ground, because sacrifices may be necessary sometimes, but that doesn’t mean that she can’t figure out her own way to support.
It’s a subtle, but amazing set-up, that displays them getting closer to and more familiar with one another, understanding and supporting each other’s choices and ways of being, figuring out their “purposes” outside of being “main fighters” - with tiny hints of growing affection in between as well. That is why their scenes in the second Tri movie actually work, even if they admit that they have already been there before - they are able to open up to each other, because they’ve BEEN through so much (together) already.
Mimi admires Jyou for prioritizing what he does (= staying away from the group to be a responsible adult) and Jyou admires Mimi for being straightforward with what she wants (= being enthusiastic and trying to convinve others that what she’s considering to be “good” is a good choice for them as well). Even if neither of them are happy with themselves at that point in time, struggling with their own ideas of “selfishness”. But they actually do take each other for what they are. Surely Mimi had her own moments of doubting Jyou’s capabilities here and there at the VERY beginning, but that shifted completely by the end of 01; neither of them has to change for the sake of the other or play a role - and they are aware of that, hence why I chose the screenshot above. Their arcs, while more in the back, are intertwined to some degree and their resolutions are, in my humble opinion, also the reason why they’re among those that do NOT struggle with their career choices in the end and are not threatened by the fate of losing their partners by the time of Kizuna.
Long story short - there is A LOT of setup for them. And I’ve only talked about their story related purposes so far...
Whether I think why and how they’d work:
In case my little love letter about their relationship hasn’t convinced you yet - I am very much convinced that they’re working out wonderfully as an established couple. While their dynamic, as fun and humourous as it is often portrayed to be, works very well on a platonic level in my book, there are several aspects that make me adore them even more on a romantic level.
As mentioned above, throughout 01 and 02, the sense of familiarity and openness between these two grows significantly - even if the age gap exists and even if Jyou tries very hard to maintain his senpai-ish attitude towards Mimi to stay composed, she’s not really fazed by that. On the contrary, Jyou is among the few characters she’s being most physical and affectionate with, only topped by Sora, Miyako and Meiko at best and those are all girls thus supporting my headcanon that Mimi is a raging bisexual with a preference for women, but Jyou is the non-plus-ultra main exception. Canon even supports that by constantly making her display her love language - “giving gifts” - towards Jyou, whether it’s nuts or candies or even very loving hugs... Jyou easily gets affected by that and blushes on several occasions, making it quite difficult to not sense mutual adoration and fondness for one another. Especially because he’s obviously very protective of her.
And since they’re both among the few characters who’re actually genuinely OPENING UP to one another about their fears and doubts in both 01 and Tri, their crests - of Sincerity and Reliability - are basically the proof for why I can see them being a wonderful romantic combination: They are there for and believe in each other, they enjoy being in each other’s company, they’re communicative and can even call one another out on what bothers them, they don’t shy away from physical touch - and they complement each other. Where Mimi can be brash, Jyou can act as the voice of reason that gets her back on earth - where Jyou gets doubtful and anxious, Mimi is a ray of positivity and forwardness. (They may butt heads because of their differences too, but as mentioned above, I consider them to be communicative enough to be able to deal with that and get over their differences. I don’t see the same level of readiness and patience in Mimi when it comes to other characters, except maybe Sora.)
They can both be incredibly judgemental together as well, thus calling out the rest of the group for being too adventurous/engaging in dangerous activities, thus making them quite a power couple - even if they’re literally more at the back than others. As adults, they’re more grounded in reality, their priorities and passions - and thus they can only make each other better through that, even if they may have to deal with some long distance shenanigans for a while. Their hobbies might actually also be quite different, but in the end, they could still come together for late night calls, with Jyou falling asleep while Mimi would soothe him after a long, stressful day at work.
Tl;dr: I love them and kinda wish Tri didn’t go so hard on ship teasing in different directions, trying very hard to keep these two apart in text, while the subtext basically told us that they’re amazing for each other.
Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship:
I quite obviously prefer them romantically, but if canon were to go into different directions, I could still live with that as long as they maintained the bond that had so lovingly bloomed between them throughout all this time.

Any Title Would Sound Like a Prince Song

Nami...thank you for incidentally making my favorite little gag moment in the arc so on point for today. I'll admit I have incorporated the fearsome Future Kick into my repertoire and use it on my boyfriend. A flower made of jewels would really solve my entire conundrum here. Bonney & Kiku. It didn't take me long to point out how well Jewelry Bonney could pick up the thread Kiku weaves through Wano. I literally did when she popped out of the water bubble.
Now that she's been properly utilized, it's time to evaluate. Yesterday's chapter review touched on this. Unlike the mirror opposite dynamic with Yamato, Bonney just tracks more and more with Kiku's odd role in this story. But there's still a couple of nagging questions. Let's take a day to take stock:
So first of all it's worth a refresher. We were already looking at the fact Kiku has a lot of untapped potential and the right background for a Quartermaster before Wano ended. Which it did, but not without playing heavily into the core aspects of how that would work and leaving Kiku conspicuously open-ended. Egghead didn't take long to set up a couple of things that could still leave that door open, and through that lens her story could be seen as being "kept warm" by elements consistently floating around. A theory at least somewhat bolstered by the Academy spinoff blatantly setting up the same shell game with Kiku & Yamato. A type of twist that works well with the classy, unassuming lady.

Enter Bonney. I had reservations but always thought she fit the bill for someone who could sensibly take that torch. Problem was, she was on the backburner for much of Egghead. An arc now about as long as Punk Hazard. Now that she's back in the limelight she actually is getting the right kind of build for that same role. Not to mention Ginny fitting it to a T. Like I said yesterday, it works for Kiku as the imposing but sweet big sister. A wifey vibe almost. Bonney is more the sharp-tongued, bossy little sister. These both just...work on this fundamental character design level. It's that idea you need to fit a role on the crew but also in an anime ensemble. Both have some "special" markers and both are fairly popular faces with solid stories already. Stories that have good prior hooks to justify a late addition.
Tale of Two Hannya, point with Kiku & Yamato is that Wano is almost a kind of jidaigeki double feature. When a core theme seems to be what we want to do vs. what we feel like we have to do...you gotta wonder about our author doing the same thing. The two split Luffy's story, mirror opposites, why would you ever focus on flashy but flawed here for half the arc over humble with hidden depths always at the edge of the limelight? Now...we're moving on to a sci-fi B movie with something different for Bonney. She's the same thing. Could fill the same role. Can't fault her for being a hothead here because it's not unlike Kanjuro and we've seen Bonney be the level head.

If you ask me, what will be the most telling is what happens when we get back. Are we jumping into the same scene? Bonney could collect herself and show a superhuman amount of composure made all the more compelling by knowing how young she is. Last arc the Supernova buddies took down Big Mom. Bonney could believably show out, girl threw a nasty kick at Luffy and tanked one from the Frontier Dome. If Egghead pulls it again and does something weird with our return to the main story? Then you gotta go back to asking who threads the needle on these vignettes we've jumped through.
