no let’s talk about cScott’s strategy in the life series being the social game. Let’s talk about how he’ll just kinda play nice with everyone and get to very high placements as a result. Do you wonder if his past allies feel used by him? If they feel like they’re just part of the strategy of his own game? Did you realize how rarely Scott has recurring alliances? Do you think they wonder about if they were just someone Scott could get to a higher result to feel good about? Or someone that could get him the win? Or are you normal

all I’m saying is usually we go on lengthy talks about Scott being nice and sweet and wholesome but this guy (character) is good at the murder game! Really worryingly good! Let’s delve into that some more!

was bored and did this ya books tier ranker … this is like the only ranked like this I’ve seen include individual books from series rather than just the first idk if I like that more or less

love being wide awake at 2am on a school night. good news is i’m almost done with tllr chapter 15

it’s the yearly books post 📚 i read 52 this year (so nice and even!) which is a 6% increase from last year’s 49. although it doesn’t really show on this list, the overarching theme turned out to be a bunch of shorter stuff (graphic novels and novellas). here’s what we’ve got:

best fiction: winner is still a stranger in olondria by sofia samatar. 3 runners up = the spear cuts through water by simon jimenez, the actual star by monica byrne, and the name of the rose by umberto eco

best series: also extremely obviously, foreigner by c. j. cherryh, despite the fact that i’m less than halfway through. made me realize the true meaning of the word “blorbo.” the three-body problem series by cixin liu gets an honorable mention just because it ate my brain for a while.

best nonfiction: the wounded storyteller by arthur w. frank, with the faraway nearby by rebecca solnit as the runner-up. i read a lot of bad and mediocre nonfiction for professional development reasons and am excited to not do that next year!

worst book: i also read lessons in chemistry by bonnie garmus for work purposes. the reason for this verdict can be encapsulated in the fact that the protag’s hair is described as being the color of “burnt buttered toast.” what does it mean

books read aloud with friends: (new category bc i realized it would be fun to capture these, and many are rereads so i don’t include them in my total count.) part of the dispossessed by ursula k. le guin, a tree grows in brooklyn by betty smith, tarashana by rachel neumeier, and the unknown shore by patrick o’brian + all of tuck everlasting by natalie babbitt and the age of innocence by edith wharton + also a christmas carol by charles dickens, but that’s a Yearly Event so i won’t note it down again.

Mmm. Not having a good time right now, and probably still won’t for a little while longer. I’m just feeling a lot, having a lot of swings, and I’m just feeling so upset- oogh. Just not having a good time atm.

I finished Fourth Wing!

“they don’t want people to know that their daughter is a monster” 1) look who’s talking, and 2) literally what did she DOOOO that was so unforgivable, except be a teenage girl that was kinda insane over her comphet crush and have access to spells. i jst think, in this fantasy world, aurora rlly didn’t even… do… that much…. like, out of all the actions she did, she mostly jst kinda handed ppl tools and then it was out of her hands. jacks fucking traded his heart to her willingly (for a protection cuff that didn’t seem to do that much for the end of the story, anyway). i’m an aurora defender, because you guys see one (1) female character that’s not perfectly feminine and submissive and you start screaming
