Here he is :) In my really wild AU I’ve been writing for over a year now he was the First Captain of a sort of Beta version of the Octonauts, and knew both Professor Inkling and Min a bit before he joined the team !! After an Incident that killed nearly everyone onboard he went missing and later turned up on an island in the middle of nowhere as “Soup Man”. Lars is a LOT older than he looks, his many soup recipes have some fascinating effects!

#we're gonna ignore that whole post i made earlier about him and inkling specifically. not because it's not canon (it is) but we are #Not Ready to deal with that rabbit hole #octonauts #octonauts oc #there is SO MUCH going on with this man like what his soup ingredients are and how long hes been missing #and also the fact he Wasn't Supposed To Be A Captain and what exactly happened to the rest of the crew #.ok all of that is REALLY OMINOUS i promise it's not as devious as it sounds #uhm!! anyways!! i'd imagine the current generation of octonauts meeting him and barnacles INSTANTLY recognizing the hat #because that IS almost exactly what the captain's hat looks like in my style now. Awww tysm anon!!! I don't know if it's something I'd actually end up drawing, just because I'm not even sure what I could draw for it(I'm not too fond of armor and that's all Don Quixote wears 😭) But as I'm reading the book, I can't stop thinking "yeah I could see Fernando doing this." I think they're just the same breed of ultra dedicated, dramatic maniac with an insane lack of self preservation. Like im not even that far in, and he keeps getting grievously injured and just gets back up and continues his adventures. Its like Fernando going back to racing after getting electrocuted, after having jaw surgery, hand surgery, etc etc. And all those long rambling, dramatic speeches Don Quixote goes on, I'm like, hmm yeah if Nando was in 17th century Spain would act like this. Just everyone around him being like "idk what nonsense this is, but he sounds committed!! I'll humor him ig"

Also a child's version, omg I wish! I enjoy reading it but there's so many references and words that have me 🤨. But tbh it's not too much of a struggle when I just view it as if it's a Monty Python bit djkfkg just the way he goes on and on and everyone around him is like, wow this dude is insane, is so funny

#Fernando WOULD try to fight a windmill #except i think he'd win 🤭#but i love how in the book sancho is so done w his ass but don quixote keeps pulling him back in w his sheer dedication and earnestness #<- which is sooooooo fernando to me #its how i imagine he is w his mechanics/team in general #just being like WE COULD WIN THIS #like that one time last ssn when he said that whatever race was the last time he'd miss out on a podium #and we all genuinely believed him bcs of how confident he sounded 😭#but this is like my napoleon au #idk if I'll draw much of it. but its such a thesis for me #that he is very similar to them just in character and mentality and everything etc #catie.asks.
