Kiss in relief- Hawkeye/Charles
Charles wakes up to the sound of someone stumbling over the oven and cursing. He groans quietly, turning over to bury himself further into his pillow in hopes he'll find sleep again swiftly.
And then the light comes on.
Now he groans properly, squeezing his eyes shut tight against the light. "Honestly, Hunnicutt," He grumbles, "Have you no respect?"
"Not usually, no." Replies a voice that is definitely not BJ.
Charles whips around so fast he almost unbalances himself right out of his cot. Sure enough, silhouetted by the light hanging over his cot, Hawkeye is maneuvering his clumsy way back around the oven. He moves slowly, unsteadily, the light revealing that his face is streaked with dirt and grime and his clothes aren't faring much better.
He scrambles to get up. Forgetting grace, dignity, everything- he just needs to be up. He ends up grabbing the blanket off himself and tossing it down, turning quickly and again nearly falling right over in his haste to just stare.
Hawkeye meets his eyes, his own dull and heavy. He's exhausted, the bags under his eyes nearly blue, the stress line in his face carved deep. His hair is a mess, scruff has come in thick on his jaw and around his mouth. He looks like a wreck. He looks like he just dragged himself out of a war zone.
He probably just did.
Charles can't imagine how he must look. Doesn't want to. Wild, wide-eyed, his heart doing its best to beat out of his chest.
"I thought you were dead." His voice comes out barely above a whisper. It wasn't confirmed, of course it wasn't, but when he didn't come back from battalion aid three days ago... he didn't know what else to think.
Hawkeye's brows shoot up. Then he chuckles, though the smile doesn't meet his eyes. "You were almost right," He replies, turning away and starting to peel himself out of his jacket, "There was a lot of action on the way back, had to take the scenic route. Hide out in the woods and-"
He turns back into an embrace. Charles grabs him by the arms and, acting on reflex and instinct alone, pulls him in and kisses him.
Hawkeye tenses, but within seconds he leans into it. His arms come up, wrap around Charles' neck, one hand finding purchase in his hair. He lets a quiet moan slip, a sound of pure relief as he sinks gladly into Charles' hold. Charles presses into him more, till he feels his stubble scratch at his face, till he feels like they couldn't be any physically closer.
When they part, they do so softly. Hawkeye looks up at him through his lashes, before he tips forward and just... melts into Charles' arms.
Charles adjusts, maneuvering his arms beneath Hawkeye's and folding them loosely around him. They stay like that for a moment, saying nothing. Hawkeye just leans heavy into his embrace like he's the only thing keeping him standing, and Charles just holds him.
"Was gonna wake you anyways," Hawkeye mumbles at last, "There are wounded."
"Alright." Charles replies. He's not surprised, he had a feeling.
Hawkeye steps slowly out of his arms, letting his arms slide away and fall back down by his sides. He waits while Charles quickly gets ready, and then they both head out and towards the hospital together.

Dot/Hugh?
precious perfect fluffy baby bunny rabbits. there is nothing cuter than the main couple's best friends also falling in love. and narratively speaking, i think that dot and hugh are so so sweet juxtaposed next to phryne and jack's struggle to figure out a romantic compromise that will allow them to be together! phryne is someone who does not want monogamy or marriage but supports dot's dreams wholeheartedly, only ever encouraging dot to advocate for what she wants within the relationship and not be confined by what she thinks she is supposed to want. it's so lovely to see the show making it clear that there are many ways to be happy instead of presenting dot as the Boring Weak Girl Trapped By Patriarchy. a lesser show would do that and so i always look at dot/hugh with my heart all soft.
