Decorative Plates
It's been awhile since we last posted something on the theme of the decorative arts, so I'm happy to have found this book—especially because it was mis-shelved in the stacks! This book is House and Garden's Book of Color Schemes, which contains "over two hundred color schemes and three hundred illustrations of halls, living rooms, dining rooms, bed chambers, sun rooms, roofs, garden rooms, kitchens and baths; the characteristic colors of each decorative period; how to select a color scheme, with unusual treatments for painted furniture and floors; a portfolio of crystal rooms and eight pages of unusual interiors in color." It was edited by long-time editor of House & Garden Richardson Wright (1887-1961) and Margaret McElroy, associate editor, and published by Condé Nast Publications, Inc. in 1929.
The book includes a large number of photographs of rooms, however, they are mostly in black and white—an unfortunate thing for a book about color! The promised eight color illustrations of rooms are not all present in our copy, but the five that are still in the book are shown here, alongside some of their black and white compatriots. I especially love the one titled "Tawny Yellow in Variety" that features a shocking amount of leopard print.
If you've read any of the posts I usually write, you know that I love a good binding—this one is a publisher's binding in a chartreuse-y yellow book cloth with art deco-style silver tooling featuring stars and leaves. Somebody took it upon themselves to write the publication date on the cover above the title—how thoughtful!

“FEY: A Guide to Fairies of the Butch Variety” themes (Text version)🐸
This book will explore butch fairies, arranged into six differently themed sections. Below are descriptions of these themes, as well as a number of example concepts that might fall under them! You can choose one of the examples we’ve provided, or come up with something yourself - as long as you run it by the mods to approve!
We will be choosing five (5) artists and one (1) writer per theme - one (1) artist to illustrate the ‘title spread’, and four (4) to illustrate the ‘guides’ within. The writer will be asked to provide snippets, comments, short poems, and descriptions to intersperse with spot illustrations on the ‘guide’ pages.
🌱 Garden Fairies
Garden fairies thrive in the world’s backyards - they can be plant-themed, critter-themed, and insect-themed. Large or palm-size, they tend to their surroundings with care and good spirit, and are often brightly colored, eye-catching things. This is your ‘Seelie’ group, for a real-world folklore equivalent.
Example concepts:
A fairy taming a grasshopper steed
A petal-winged rose fairy sleeping in a flower bud
A butterfly fairy collecting nectar
🏡 House Fairies
House fairies reside in and around the home. They are usually small, hiding from humans in nooks and crannies and forgotten places - and will get stuck between the couch cushions. They come out when the coast is clear to make mischief: rearranging trinkets, pilfering snacks, turning up the corners of carpets - all heinous behavior!
Their own dwellings are not to be trifled with, however. They’re of the utmost coziness, warm and safe and full of . . . ‘collected’ goods . . .
Example concepts:
A fairy facing off against a housecat
A fairy in their little home surrounded by myriad stolen trinkets
Fairies scheming to throw something nasty in a human’s stew
🕸️ Dark Fairies
Dark fairies dwell in the domains of shadow - in fairytales with unhappy endings, in childrens’ nightmares, under the surface both figuratively and literally speaking. They rejoice in sowing discord and causing mayhem, and shun the light. These are your ‘Unseelie’ equivalents.
Example concepts:
A murderous moth fairy poised to strike
A hag-like fairy offering a bargain one can’t refuse
A gaggle of tooth fairies
👑 Courtly Fairies
Courtly fairies are those who spend most of their time between lavish palace walls, voluntarily or otherwise. Towering spires, silkspun sheets, all wreathed in swirling gold filigree - a fairy court makes itself known for miles around. Most other fairies consider them the least carefree, though every once in a while a monarch does crop up who rules the land with wild abandon, whipping all fairykind into a frenzy for a decade or fifty.
As an aside: dark fairies enjoy courtly fairies as particular targets for their curses, twisting their beauty and opulence into ironic reflections.
Example concepts:
A cursed fairy monarch chained to their throne
A rogue fairy prince on the run
A fairy knight in beetle armor
🌆 City Fairies
City fairies have bid the splendors of the fey adieu for the neon-splashed fast lanes of a human metropolis. Usually, they try to (more or less) blend in, bask in humans’ energy, break their hearts and leave them wondering how you do that thing you do. Little city fairies exist, too, trying their best not to get crushed underfoot as they go about their busy lives!
Example concepts:
A raver fairy stealing the show in a color-soaked warehouse
A mundane-looking fairy creating otherworldly pastries with the help of some friends
A fairy guardian of some public property
🔥 Wyld Fairies
Wyld fairies are closest in essence to magic itself, to nature and those primordial forces they let flow through them: the elements. They eschew court-made laws, borders, customs, and causes, simply forging their own paths through life with little consideration of worldly issues. They are bright like fire, deep as water, free as the wind.
Example concepts:
A fairy fire dancer
A seahorse (or, ‘kelpie’) herding underwater-fairy
A fairy exploring the edge of the upper atmosphere

Chez Cromwell: Redux - Pt. 1
Magical Victorian Cat Mansion. Redone.
Part I: Exteriors | Part II
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So after the long-awaited addition of Infants and Ceilings to the game, I realized I should probably update my one furnished build (so far) for these features. Unfortunately I got carried away again and just ended up revamping the whole build from the exterior, to each individual room + some new ones! This version has also been more extensively play-tested over time with all age groups and pets, with some extra fire hazard and accessibility issues addressed.
It still has all the original Lot Features:
Victorian era historical build, fully playtested
Off-the-grid compatible
9 Bed / 6 bath
Library Greenhouse
Spellcaster's room
Outdoor smokehouse
Pleasure + kitchen gardens
Portal to the magic realm
Hidden cat room, litterroom, + catway system for Familiars
Staff/Servant's lounge w/ private stairs
Bedrooms for Butler, Nanny/Governess, and Maids
Lot size 30x40, fully landscaped
Cat Hangout, Peace and Quiet
Spooky lot challenge
As well as an extensive Changelog and list of New Features:
Revamped exteriors + interiors, roofs, and gardens
Ceilings for all rooms
Added even more windows somehow
Skylights for 3rd floor and wraparound verandah
Rooftop meditation-garden-yoga-summoning-circle
Portals! Small library located off the spell-room has been converted into the Portal Room with 3 portals leading throughout the house: one to the tower on the roof, one to the greenhouse in the back, and one to the third floor hall.
Moved Magic Realm Portal to rooftop garden
Put more cat doors everywhere, they enjoy using the catdoors and portals for zoomies
Sprinklers, alarms, and fire resistant flooring have been added around fireplaces.
Fireplace in the tower was removed for it's propensity to set the roof on fire and become unreachable and inextinguishable
Tower room has been converted into a Collections display room instead, a la sims 3
Portal in the tower/Collections room also makes potential burglaries more threatening, but if you’re an occult you’re expected to employ practical DADA techniques to avert this
Updated Nursery and Playroom for Infants
Redid terrain paint. Twice. Why tf does it just vanish randomly sometimes
NEW Magic Bean Hunt! Stump is located where the magic realm portal used to be and beans are strategically hidden around the lot. I'd love to see how long it takes for you to catch them all!
Washbasins for rooms without bathrooms now look like washbasins and are actually useable, both on and off grid
Added privacy hedges and lattices to backyard and fenced in chicken run
Potions Crafting Table added to Spell-room
Crafters Supply Cabinet added to Kitchen
Pocketed pocket doors
Secret Cat Room color scheme updated and cat-approved artwork added
Another Cat room added to 3rd floor
Magic Well has been shrunk
Rooftop area outside 3rd floor Study converted into rooftop Pavilion with chessboard and painting easel
Jack-and-Jill bathroom added for two of the third floor bedrooms
Toilet room removed and bath added for staff washrooms, for an equal 2-toilet/2-bath arrangement, which means the build now has a total of 7 full baths, and 8 toilets.
More crafting tables (fizz machine and candle maker) added to Staff Lounge
Yoga/Meditation Balcony for staff above greenhouse
Small telescope added to rooftop outside tower room’s new 2nd door
Garden lights around yard configured for power + off grid lighting
‘Bike racks’ added by front gate
New Library shelves seem to allow sims to retrieve books but not put them back. However this is actually a feature, not a bug, since now you can put the books back yourself on on the right shelves and keep things organized 🙃
Should now be consistently able to feed and be eaten by the Cowplant
Homey trait replaced by Gnome lot trait since there is a proliferation of gnomes

Carnations - part 1
Tumblr media
Beautiful, sweet, and innocent is y/n in the light of the Red Keep. But when in the shadows, she is one ruthless scheming lady in becoming and she found just the right man for her : Lord Larys Strong.
Pairing : Larys Strong × reader
Warnings : manipulation
N/A : First time putting anything out there, please enjoy and don't hesitate to remind me of anything I would have forgotten (especially in the warnings). Y/n = your name ; L/n = last name d/c = dress color ; e/c = eye color
Y/n was a young lady, sent to the Red Keep to serve the royal family, years ago. She was neither too young to marry, nor too old to not be married. She was mostly an enigma. Blessed with e/c eyes, piercing and attentive. Observant. Accompanied by a beautiful genuine smile that had been the fall of a few persons, without them knowing. In the sunlight, she was a simple lady without a distinct particularity. In the shadows, she was a scheming whisperer.
One day, as she played the perfect lady, ready to be married, Y/n had seen Lord Larys Strong speak to the Queen, in the Godswood, and heard them. She saw right through the Lord and a cunning smile made its home on her lips for brief seconds.
He was a good player, she had no doubt. Inserting fire between the young queen and the chosen heir, slowly forging himself the place of a useful ally in the shadow of Alicent Hightower. While Y/n had yet no clear allegiances but to herself, trying her powers on smaller people, Lord Larys seemed to have chosen a side. Y/n could only learn from such a master of the arts she practiced.
That's when she decided her fate. She wouldn't be married to a simple lord, a fool that would bed her for heirs, use her as a precious jewel on his neck and drink his way into an early grave, as she would likely make him do. No, in her mind, she deserved better. She didn't care for warriors, knights, rich lords, and many others that young ladies fawned over. She wanted one that would have a mind close to hers, with who she could easily speak of the gossip she heard, conceal and share their secrets, plan the rise and fall of those who thought to be well protected from fate.
She would marry that cunning lord. His father was the hand after all and he had a certain charm she could not deny. Something about his crooked form over his cane and fake soft tone reminded her of herself. They could be the key to one another. Allied, what a couple no one would threaten. It would probably grant her better protection than a brainless warrior and a better position than a rich lord.
°•○●○•°•○●○•°
Invisible among the ladies and lords enjoying the gardens during a beautiful day, she read her book in a comfortable chair but her eyes were memorizing the scene before her and her ears were intaking as much as she could, playing sweet and innocent. No one would suspect that she was a scheming little bird.
From where she was, Y/n could see Larys, a book opened in one hand while inspecting a rose. If y/n didn't know better, she could have thought he was simply learning about the delicate velvety flower before him. But gladly, she did know better.
On the other side of the well-kept bush were three Lords, amongst who one who wanted desperately to marry his son into a greater and richer house. Y/n had seen them depart as if they were taking a nice stroll but she could feel the tension emanating from two of them, probably enraptured in a scheme they had no idea what would be the consequences.
°•○●○•°•○●○•°
"Carnations. Their meaning is as beautiful as they are..."
She spoke in a sweet tone, an innocent aura dissipating from her. Lord Larys, who was playing with the named flower, raised his dark eyes towards the young lady, using his usual submissive form before answering in a tone as low as hers.
"An admirer of nature's beauty, Lady L/n?"
Y/n gave him a bigger smile as a positive answer before approaching the bush and picking a beautiful carnation to play with it between her fingers :
"Probably not as much as you, I hear, my Lord."
Larys arched slightly his brows, intrigued, putting his palms on his cane to give her his entire attention. She rotated the flower between her fingers, eyeing it, which she knew gave her a shy look. She emitted a small amused exhale before looking at him in his dark eyes and giving an answer to his curiosity with a calculated hesitation :
"I didn't... really hear about it... I simply saw you with a book about flowers... and you looked so attentive that one couldn't but notice it..."
The Lord eyed her with his mysterious eyes, without giving away anything. Although, deep down, he could feel the slight amusement and attraction that the young but calculating Lady awoke in him. He could only admit that she was good. Very good. Perhaps he would give her more attention from now on. She was a rare little thing, sweet and innocent but her eyes could be read by the ones holding the right knowledge. With guidance, she could be a mighty asset to him.
"My lady, I must say I'm not one used to capturing the attention of my peers. Especially when one sees my... disposition." While saying so, he gave a slight hit with his cane on his club foot, to reinforce his answer. "I can't help but be flattered to know I have taken your gaze away from your occupations."
Y/n lowered shyly her eyes to her fingers before putting the carnation, not without hesitation, on the tunic of the lord. Both took advantage of the closeness to detail one another. She gave him a slight smile, as shyly as she could, while the Lord followed her delicate fingers, ascending to her neck, her lips, and her eyes. He had a slight smile, one she didn't know the meaning of yet but Larys was no fool. He saw deep in her eyes that she was one smart woman. At least smart enough to approach him without fear despite her obvious knowledge of who he was. Who he truly was.

Since everyone has been nagging at me to take it easy, I've finally gone ahead and... made an attempt.
Look, with a garden you don't get days off, so sue me!
I did make my second glow worm farm, so hopefully now I'll get more worms! Does mean more beachcombing for me, but like... This is not a hardship. I can take pictures of the amazing view too!
Though I probably shouldn't drag Jel with me more than maybe once a week. The man has so many commissions and I certainly can't sew well enough to help him catch up! He does seem to enjoy me sitting near at hand though, while he's working on something. We don't talk, he sews, I... read.
He swears I can practice the lute, but I don't really want him to hear me do it badly. So the lute stays home for now. Mostly I read, but...
Well, while I can't say Caleri's library is bad, I will say that it feels like it's missing something. History is all well and good, but... History can be dry and dull, and I want... I don't know. More than that? I've tried to read Auni's books about a hero, but they read too... I suppose picturesque. They're made for kids, and I'm not a kid. I want a little realism in my stories, but not a lot of realism.
Lark thinks I should write my own book, but I don't know. I know what reads as good prose, I don't know if I can write my own. I don't even know what I'd write about, and I feel like anyone who learned I was writing would expect something Very Human from me, like... i don't know, an autobiography or something?
Which I bet I would find boring even if I did remember where I'd come from. And writing of how my life in Kilima has gone so far... that's just these journal entries. Way too personal.
Maybe I'm thinking about it too much, I don't know...
On a less existential crisis note, I have finished some more house stuff!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bathroom is tiny, no lie, but it's amazing. Honestly, the hardest part was the wall paneling stuff! Tish helped me install the sink and the overhead cupboard.... mostly by using Reth as a tall person~ I paid him in macarons.
Look, I offered coin, but he said no! So I had to get sneaky and threaten him with Lark! He said I played dirty and took the macarons. So... I win? Jel was a little put out that I didn't ask him, but he was impressed with how I put it together. He also said this little living room is cozy, and he can't wait for all of us to gather again for more board games and scary stories.
Reth is not allowed to tell scary stories any more. Or at least, not Grimalkin themed ones. Jeez. I couldn't sleep after he told that one, and ended up crashing on the couch in Jel's shop for a midday nap.
I think Jel found it cute. But yeah. I'm not letting Reth tell stories again.
I want to make a couple more chairs, since Reth said he wanted to invite Tish next time we played. Maybe I could make a small room off the kitchen for storage? Oh, or I've got an extra tent packed away, maybe I could use that for holding any extra chairs and things for if I get more guests.
I mean, it's that or I build room onto the kitchen and make the dining room bigger and fancier, and I just.. I dunno. I'm not a fancy person? I'll have to think about it.
It's kinda funny though; every time I think I'm done with my house, I get a new idea. And I still want to paint and sew things in a more... me color scheme, but I also really could use that stroage upgrade Tish says she has. I've almost got enough. And man, it's hard to resist buying the paintings and rugs down in the nightmarket. I've managed it so far, but dang is it hard!
Good thing I don't need any more flow tech from Zeki...
Maybe if I sketch out the room, I can figure out what I want before I buy anything... And remind myself that I want the house to be comfortable and cozy for all my friends.

Random Sims Challenge ideas :
Note* I'm so new to the Sims community I have no idea if these exist already sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
1. Work-Life balance
Choose your career but you are unable to build the skill needed for it while at home until you have reached level 5 in three other skills. This will push you to work your Sims outside of just their work life.
2. The Stomach of Steel
Have a character with the glutton trait essentially live only off spoiled foods and crappy microwaved meals. No real cooking is allowed for this sim until they have read all the cook books available (ie: baking, cooking, gourmet, etc.)
3. Agoraphobia
Your Sim doesn't have access to the outside world. No housemates or neighbors can interact. Penpal via e-mails allowed. One pet may be allowed but it is also not allowed to go outside. They have all their essentials indoors with no windows on site unless they are boarded or curtained. Food delivery is not an option either. Artist career paths must use digital art only as selling easel paintings means going to the post office irl. Authors won't work either because you'd have to publish via a mailbox and that's not allowed either, remember your Sims is petrified of going outside. Is there a fire? Put it out yourself. No firefighters and no finding an escape route outside.
Note* I've had times in my own life where I've been unable to leave my home for months due to this, I am not romanticizing agoraphobia I just think it'd be an interesting way to play in the Sims.
4. From the ground up.
Buy a plot of land, and with only 25,000 or less simoleons you should lay down a basic shelter. This first place will be yours until you've saved up to go elsewhere. No adding rooms. Upgrading & repairing broken things is fine. Live off the grid for this first home. And sustain yourself via gardening and farm animals until you have saved up 50,000 simoleons to purchase a new home. Repeat the process of no remodeling with the new home until you've saved 100,000 to move/reconstruct your home all over again.
5. Monkey see Monkey do
Have a few Sims in a household and have your main sim copy anything their roommates are doing. Did one roommate flirt with another? Go flirt with them too. Did they just go take a shower? You should do that too. Have this sim only build up their skills and relationships via copying what they see others doing.
6. Opposites Attract
Make two vastly different Sims in all : Looks, Style, likes/dislikes, career paths, personality, etc. Get them together and see if they can learn to love each other's differences or if a break up/divorce is inevitable.
7. Color Scheme Build
Your new home should have the following : entryway, living room, kitchen, dining room, study, bedroom, guestroom, bathroom, guest bath, & basement. Each room can only have one color aesthetic with no repeats. Aka: A green room with only green objects, a pink room etc. You can use different hues of the color of course but putting something like a yellow rug on a blue carpet is not.
8. Never enough plants
For the green thumb and gardeners out there, this challenge is to have more green than home. Whether it be a small house with a large gardened yard or a regular home with plants absolutely filling all the shelves and tabletops. Have the plants be everywhere. Bonus points if your Sims clothes have flower patterns and such as well.
9. Four Story Home
I'm not a person who likes switching from up and down the stairs all the time to find my Sims but having it as a challenge could get me more used to it. It's as simple as making a home with four floors but you can make it more like an apartment or something by having bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, etc on every level.
10. Do you actually live here?
It's easy to want your sim to have a similar looking household. But what if you had a goth living in a kawaii/bright colored aesthetic home, or a minimalistic sim living in a home full of clutter? However you make your sim out to be, the house has to be the complete opposite.

Tagged by @demandthedoodles! thank you, love you <3
do you play any instruments: piano! i don't live in a house with one anymore though so it's been awhile 😅
favourite book characters: i will always love my dumb boy richard gansey iii ( don't judge me, i haven't read a book in years which is probably decaying my brain )
what's your star sign: y'all are gonna hate my line up but it's: capricorn sun, taurus moon, aries rising, aquarius venus
favourite colour schemes: um i love earthy tones so lot's of greens i guess. i like bright colors too, like corals, teals, and yellows
naps or long sleep: i'm a ho for naps but i always end up sleeping for way longer than i wanted to
what languages do you speak: i guess in order of proficiency it's: english, japanese, french, korean, polish ( only really fluent in english though. i need to get back into japanese, i can feel it slipping )
dreams/aspirations: clear skin, bills paid, not having to subject myself to capitalism in order to survive. but really i just want a nice cottage where i can make deserts, sew, and have a lil garden. the true granny dream
long or short hair: short all the way! i haven't had long hair in almost a decade and i don't see myself growing it out anytime soon. if i wanted to mess with long hair i'd just mess with the bf's ( the benefit of dating someone with long hair :) )
tea or coffee: i drink coffee more often than tea but my cabinet has more tea than coffee so i don't know what that says about me
bring a book character to life or go into a fictional world: i don't want to subject fictional characters to the horror that is late stage capitalism (unless they're tom nook so he can be faced with his actions). much rather go into a fictional world, a simple one with simple worries. a soft one. like winnie the pooh or something
tagging under a no pressure clause: @clownjoth @jimiamor @bog-mummies @wooseok

THEME LIFE
The first photo was painted by; an unknown artist at an art gallery I observed in Brazil. The painting displays people doing tasks relating to the everyday actions of locals: through painting, I felt a connection with the colorful and vibrant imagery: moreover, the color scheme felt similar to a kaleidoscope, one illustrating beauty. I felt delighted by the artwork's portrayal of life and became more appreciative of my daily activities. The second display myself in a botanical garden located in Rio. I felt life from the aura of nature and the sensational sights I witnessed, for example, trees taller than I could envision and creatures interacting with people without a glass wall. Similar to that of an explorer, I surveyed every inch, taking photos with my family and the beautiful plant life. Contained within the garden: some ruins had beautifully integrated with the surrounding nature. Furthermore, The scent of the earth and various plants made me feel content and tranquil! The House of Dragons book is the third image displayed. Literature represents a spectacular ability books can transfer by surrounding me with stories bursting with drama and action. The characters become more realistic, establishing a connection with the readers. Overall, it's a magical sensation to experience; for example, it's akin to overlooking a movie about the possibility of this fictional life. Blarney Castle, located in Ireland, is the fourth photo. It was magnificent, spending an entire day exploring the garden and seeing every inch of such a timeless castle. The interior of this outstanding: structure allowed me to imagine the possibility of life in a war-period castle. I was delighted: to learn about how different life was back then and began comparing it to my current life, for example, differences between bathrooms and activities. The last is a photo from the Cliffs of Moher. This moment basking in the breathtaking view solidified my adoration for Ireland. The chilling weather, stunning nature, and history have made me want to move in a heartbeat. Whenever I imagine the Cliffs reminds me of the best trip I ever took and the place I want to move to.

Home Decor Tips and Tricks | Indoorscape
Furniture
Decorating your home is no doubt an exciting process, but it can also be a daunting one. After all, there are lots of important decisions to be made including the colour of paint, type of furniture and a suitable amount of hardware, wall decor, and upholstery to pick. However, trying to achieve the right balance of layout and function has its challenges.
The first thing you should do is take note of the pre-existing features in your home you can emphasise for house decorating ideas. Architectural elements such as crown moulding, rigid beams, flooring details, built-in bookshelves etc. are all worth focusing on.  You should keep these details as conspicuous as possible— you should keep them clean, clutter-free, and the focal point of the room.
Here are some of the decorating tips and interior design ideas that will add a supplementary flair of style to your home.
Follow a Color Scheme
The first thing you should do is select a colour scheme for your home. However, you should be careful not to pick more than 5 colours at a time. You can base these on which tones make you feel good. Indian traditional home design usually contains colours like bright blues, reds, yellows and greens. However, for a simpler look, you can use colours like Khaadi, beige, creams or white that can give your house a more classic look.
Use Prints and Textures
India has a long record of textile industry and unique types of art practised all over the country, and this is the reason why prints and textures are often seen in a typical Indian-style home design.  Cotton, linen, silk and khadi fabrics are some of the most widely used, which look good both plain and with prints or embroidery. Truly said, there is no rule book to be followed for creating traditional Indian home decor. It is all about placing what looks good to you and what you feel the most relaxed in.
Use Wooden Furniture
Wood is another important element in the furniture for Indian-style home decor. Despite the type of furniture that you have, your home can be designed in the Indian way with some simple design additions. Dark-coloured wooden furniture adds to the ethnicity of the room by complementing the embroidered fabrics that it is surrounded by. If you are tight on budget, you can use a divan instead of a sofa and add the colours and fabrics to create the decor you want. Additionally, adding wooden trunks and chests instead of metal and glass furnishings can improve the look of your space.
Wall décor
Decorate your Wall
Wall decoration is an integral part of Indian home decor as much as wood and colours. The rich and varied art culture of India leaves an array of craftwork options to choose from. Anything from a printed embroidery tapestry to antique copper wall decor can be hung on the wall or placed on a console table for a classic look. You just need to make sure that the just item blends or stands out with other items in the room like the wall art panels. Another perfect piece to choose for your table or wall would be any traditional Indian musical instrument.
Adorn the Table
Indians are somewhat lavish when it comes to items on the side table. A majority of Indian homes have a huge number of items on their console tables than one might expect. We have all sorts of table accents on every surface available, be it potted plants or idols and figurines of wood or glass. They look gorgeous when decorated with flower arrangements during celebrations making your house look like a garden. However, sometimes even a simple fabric laid at the centre of a woven basket in the corner makes a wonderful addition to the Indian home decor.
Decorate with Lamps or Diyas
Although diyas and lights are lit during festivals or celebrations, we Indians don’t think that they are to be confined to only those few days in a year. With time, these lights have evolved into the perfect ornament for every Indian home decor. So we need to purchase some lamps, antique metal or funky coloured ceramic for your perfect Indian-style home since your decor would seem incomplete without it.
The best way to make the perfect Indian home decor is to decorate the room with whatever items that looks good. No website or blog can exactly explain the perfect way of decorating a space. They can only provide you with the best possible ideas and that is more than enough, and all you have to do is improvise. The most reasonable thing about Indian home decor is that nothing is right or wrong as long as it looks appealing and traditional to your eye. You don’t have to invest a bucket load of money in recreating some interesting images; rather you just need to replace some upholstery, throw in a few coloured pillows and add some wooden items here and there that could definitely help you get the perfect look to your home. 1)summarize
after trying to explain this book to someone 5 min after k, rly got the feeling that a 'book review' urge was in order lest i keep harrassinf others w bad ones. Lapvona is a town in feudal medieval times and the story lapvona describes 5 seasons in the town. written in third person with shifting perspective/main characters. the most main character is an ugly misshapen boy, Marek. the town is very religious and markek is as well. very convinced that meekness and abuse by others raise one up in the eyes of god. given how the story turns out, hes kind of vindicated. his dad, jude, tends sheep and abuses himself and marek with good faith. feudal life is unpleasant. a lord lives on a hillside, with the pastures below, and the town below that. it is quickly and then continually revealed how the social structure is determined on tactics by the lord, villiam, to extract resources from peasants/townspeople. villiam is spoiled and accustomed to a leisurely, entertainment filled life.
after an especially brutal beating from Jude, marek meets his rich friend (son of villiam) and kills him on the mountaintop. the son (jacob) lies on a rock after falling, while marek watches and then guiltily but detachedly runs home. villiam is not interested in mourning his lost son, and so he trades his corpse for marek, who suddenly finds himself living in the castle with a servant attending to him around the clock. the servant is young and was in love with young jude and so hates marek and uses her service to him as a way to prove her righteousness.
after jacob dies, it doesnt rain for months. famine soon follows. most people abandon their houses and live by the lake, eating mud and each other. jude and ina eat the local blind man, reluctantly and then very enthusiastically.
marek and others in the castle do not suffer of course. the drought is also made much worse because villiam hoards snowfall before it reaches the town, using up a bunch on peaches, gardens, pools, flowers, etc. while the town has all dried out. villiams wife is killed while she tries to run after a lover who has also been killed, and the rains begin again.
grigor seems like one of the few townspeople who begins to question villiam's ruling practices. after the drought, rewards of food are bestowed upon the village. grigor wonders where they came from, and also starts to see strange coincidences in the timings of raids upon the village and tax-paying practices. grigor is grumpy about all this, and also resents the local 100 year old midwife, ina. ina is an expert naturalist and is very healthy and feeds all the babies milk. many grown men continue to return to her to suck her nipples etc.
grigor meets ina, believing she is a witch and connected to the kings extraction schemes. he finds her very intelligent, opens his eyes you could say. they get along well and he too starts to enjoy botanical medicine/farming.
mareks entire family, includingg his mom who abandoned him and jude after birth, ends up living at the castle; marek as the little lord, jude caring for the horses, and his mother as wife-to-be. she is pregnant and the baby is given a christlike significance since nobody knows what a virgin is supposed to look like.
mareks mother hates marek because he is the product of the incestual rape of her brother. her new child was conceived when jude raped her just after eating the blind man. she dies in childbirth, but ina keeps it a secret. ina, adoptive mother of 100ish, gets her hair color and milk back and is generally flourishing.
villiam gets killed by a bottle of wine that everyone seems to know is poison. in the confusion marek finally sneaks in to meet his somewhat brother, who he has been resenting since learning of its conception. with everyone distracted, marek takes the baby to the top of the mountain and tells it how much better it is to be like a bird.
xong. i liked the shifting perspective, used to describe someone's reading of a situation and then upset it with someone elses view. makes everyone seem very bumbling which was entertaining. also the suffering is presented as somewhat detached (partly bc of the religious ecstasy aspect), often comic.
dominant feelings: intrigue, changing allegiances

The exterior of your home is just as important as the interior. Add accent pieces like a garden or a colorful bench to your entrance. You can also update your home's mailbox with a steel door for the best return on your investment. A steel door is a great investment because it not only looks good, but also increases security and lowers energy bills. And remember, you can add more decorative touches to your home exterior through other ways.
Aside from updating the exterior, you can also make your home more comfortable and functional. For example, you can put your favorite music or books on display. Or, you can build a fancy wine rack. In the meantime, you can make your house more comfortable by turning a small room into a cozy reading nook. And, you can also make use of the available space under the stairs. These are just a few examples of inexpensive home remodeling ideas.
While you may be looking for new kitchen appliances, consider upgrading the cabinets. Stainless steel is a durable choice that won't fade or look outdated. Plus, it's easy to clean. Stainless steel also goes well with almost any design scheme. Stainless steel appliances complement wood cabinets and plastic accents. It also has a timeless appeal and blends well with any kitchen design. One home improvement project that you can complete yourself is replacing the doors. While replacing the doors may add to the cost, you can also replace the hinges and install new plumbing. If the doorways are made of cheap wood, you can also add a wooden panel. Decorative trim and paint can also add to the look of your cabinetry. You can also upgrade the ceiling with beadboard. A beadboard ceiling looks elegant and is a cost-effective solution to popcorn ceilings.
