SKINCARE HOLY GRAILS

So today's post is something a bit different than my usual. If I'm not reading and exploring astrology, I'm wrapped up in my robe doing my skincare. I've had a tough year with many breakouts, even though I've never had problems before. After many trials and errors I've come to make the routine that has helped my skin tremendously! I still do battle some hormonal breakouts and dark spots, but they are fading away as we speak. So today I'm sharing some tips and tricks, holy grails and routines that helped my skin flourish!

❕I want to add a disclaimer that I am by no means a cosmetologist nor dermatologist. If you can, I highly advise you to visit a dermatologist to help out in the skin department.

With that being said I'll firstly talk about a routine called SKIN CYCLING before we get into the products.

🤍Skin cycling is a process where you literally "cycle" products so you don't breakout. This is also an amazing tactic if you're adding a new product to your routine. My skin is highly reactive and sensitive, so by just putting something with a new ingredient on my face everyday, it will cause severe purging or even breakouts. I've had this happend when using salicylic acid. I would read how it's good to purge and waited a month and the breakouts kept coming. It was painful and ugly. So I decided to skin cycle and I've never had a problem with salicylic acid ever again.

My cycle consists of 4 days:

1. Normal skincare

2. Normal skincare

3. Exfoliation night

4. Recovery night

You go back and forth with your exfoliation and recovery nights and normal skincare. I find that by doing this my skin is never dry, patchy or iritated. For each of these days I have different moisturizers.

I would firstly recommend if you're starting off to just find an amazing cleanser, moisturizer and spf cream. Later you can add on, experiment with serums, retinols etc... If you have a damaged skin barrier be sure to stick to soothing cleansers and moisturizers. Don't beat your face, it will not be forgiving...trust me.

🤍Some of my tips&tricks I've learned over the years:

▫️Do your night routine atleast an hour before going to bed, so the products doesn't just end up on your sheets.

▫️Change your bed sheets every 5-7 days, I change every 5 days, but a week is totally fine.

▫️Stop touching your face after touching your hair. Your hair has many natural oils and putting it on your face afterwards can cause a breakout.

▫️Double cleansing is a must in the nighttime routine, especially if you wear makeup or work in a dusty environment.

▫️Really learn about your skin before getting into skincare, you have to know what you're dealing with. This is the biggest tip I have. The more you know your skin, the better products you'll find for your it.

▫️I know this is a classic one, but diet is really important. Even though I'm not that sensitive to this, I know many are. Dairy, fatty foods, fast food, snacks, soda, sugar and alcohol can have a huge impact how your skin treats you. By all means this DOESN'T mean you can't eat anything. Cut one out and bring it back to see if there's any change. For me I eat sugar only on special events and I watch out with my alcohol intake.

▫️Put different moisturisers on different parts of your face. In my nighttime routine I have two moisturizers one that I put on my oily parts and the other that I put on my really sensitive and reactive parts. This one is a personal tip and it helped me a lot. Since my cheeks are so dry I can't use the same moisturiser on my cheeks and my chin ,my chin is very oily, has whiteheads and is prone to a lot of breakouts. My chin can take stronger ingredients and even fragrance, but my cheek area is strictly for soothing creams with no perfume whatsoever.

So I'll put the products into 4 sections, because I use them separately.

1. Morning Holy Grails

🤍 The Holika Holika Aloe Cleansing Foam

This product is the one I repurchase every month or two. If I had to choose the product that saved my skin, ding ding she gets the reward. It takes off makeup, cleanses your skin without it feeling stripped away, it leaves such a glow afterwards. I'm obsessed with this cleanser. It's also suitable for me in the summer and winter!

🤍 Cerave Hydrating cream-foam Cleanser

This one is a classic in the skincare community, because it does what it needs to do! I used this cleanser for 2 years until buying the Holika one. Cerave is the best big store brand for me. It never caused any damage to my skin, it's dermalogically tested and all their products are fragrance free. Simple, inexpensive and good. A good starter cleanser in my opinion.

🤍 Skin 79's Calming Aloe Vera Gel

You can see a pattern, aloe vera is the ingrediant for me! This gel has been a staple in my routine for atleast 3 years. It's an amazing layering moisturizer in the winter and daily moisturizer in the summer. It's fresh and light on the skin. Helps with dark spots and makes skin appear so bouncy!

🤍 Cerave Daily Moisturising Cream

Also another classic one, but I haven't found my perfect morning cream to date. This one is also fast and simple. It's lightweight, has hyaluronic acid and is really easy to use. It keeps the face nicely moisturized threw the day! This one is more of a summer moisturizer or if I'm staying in. The one labeled dry to extra dry I get in the winter!

2. Nighttime Holy Grails

🤍 CORSX Snail 96 Mucin

It's a little bit on the pricer side so I only use it before sleeping! It's amazing for repairing a damaged skin barrier and just the glow you get afterwords! Also amazing for recovery days.

🤍 The Effaclar Duo(+) from La Roche Posay

This is the star of the show! If I had to pick a favorite cream it goes to this one! This cream absolutely changed how I looked in a matter of 2 weeks. It exfoliates dead skin cells, reduces the look of dark spots and is very gentle! Highly recommend this even though it's also on the pricer side, but it's worth it.

🤍 La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume

Another La Roche product, because they are so good in my eyes. This moisturizer was introduced by my brother who has eczema and dermatitis. I used it on my cheeks one time and feel in love. It is a winter cream since it's very inriched. It's not heavy on the face and I use it if I've been out the whole day and the wind ate up my skin. It does wonders for my hands and knuckles since they are prone to being extra dry aswell. It's also good for recovery days!

3. Exfoliation Holy Grails

🤍 Cerave SA Soothing Cleanser

This cleanser is really rough on skin if I use it everyday, but every 4th day it does the job! I can tell it helps clear out my whiteheads and blackheads. I use it on my T zone area every 4 days and on my cheeks every 8th day, since they are so sensitive. Once I learned how to properly use this cleanser my skin has been doing amazing.

🤍 Aztec Clay Mask

A very popular product and I get why! This clay mask is better for me in the summer since it is so intense. I mix it with water and leave it on 5-7 minutes.

🤍 Inninisfree Pore Cleaning Clay Mask

I found out about this clay mask last summer and I can't describe how much I adore it. It's a more gentle clay mask where you don't feel any pulling sensation. I use this one in the winter more since it is so gentle. Highly recommend this aswell!

4. Recovery Day Holy Grails

🤍 La Roche Posay Lipikar cleanser

This cleanser is very rich and soft, I stay away from it on a daily basis because it's too heavy for everyday use. This cleanser is for very iritated and dry skin. I use this after my exfoliation night to bring back some moisture to my skin. It's extremely soothing and good for people with dry, itching and sensitive skin.

🤍 La Rosay Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+

This is a skin savior! Also it's a little pricey, but since I don't use it very often it's worth the price. This cream is amazing in recovery, to repair the skin barrier and for any anomalies. For example for the past week I've been down with the flu, after wiping your nose 1001 times the nose area can become quite inflamed, red and iritated. After using this two days in a row you can't even tell I had a runny nose, it's that amazing.

- just to be clear I have combination skin that is very dry mostly so a lot of these products are not for acne prone skin. The only products I would recommend to oily and acne prone people are the aloe vera, snail mucin and the effalcar duo!

One of the most exciting K-Beauty packages I have received from Beauty Box Korea (PR). I discovered their store just recently and was amazed by the selection of K-Beauty brands, especially some brands that are popular in Korea but are not easily available on other online stores. Holika Holika | Soothing & shower gel // Skin/bodycare

Hello hello apologies on my behalf of the lacking reviews! Been a busy month, but I'd like to finish it off with one more Holika Holika review and I'm preparing a special review soon that I hope will help you skincareholics.

This review is going to be different in terms of not being a first impressions because I admit I am behind and I seem to keep buying skincare products at a rapid state than I thought I would be doing...

(fyi they'll be more of that in the future (lols)). && This is also going to be a first double review because I feel the products are similiar so it correlates together. Okay onto the review of:

A gel & shower gel containing high amount of Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice aka Aloe Vera.

Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel & Holika Holika Aloe 92% Shower Gel: A gel and shower gel that helps moisturize and soothes irritated skin leaving it fresh and non-greasy/sticky. Both main ingredient is of course you guessed it... Aloe Vera extract! Paraben free. No mineral oils. No artificial colors. No alcohol. Great for all skin types; sensitive, dry skin, etc.

Directions: For the gel you apply onto your skin and spread gently for absorption. For the shower gel apply desired amount onto a sponge, lather, and massage onto your body rinsing off with lukewarm water thoroughly.

Package: I personally love the design! Off the bat it's unique. It's aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. The clarity of the gel with the green plastic bottle shaped like an aloe vera leaf is chef's kiss to me.

Product: Besides the packaging the amount of product is great! Atleast for the gel; the shower gel (this is a personal problem) is alright for someone who showers... everyday. But if you shower every other day it would probably last you awhile longer.

Fragrance: Well this is a given haha. It smells like aloe vera. Fresh, clean, it's not heavily scented. If you hate the smell of aloe then of course you wouldn't be purchasing this.

Texture: Gel. It feels like aloe vera gel. Non-greasy/sticky. Absorbs well into your skin.

Price: For the amount you get (250 ml) the price is totally worth it. It's not very expensive at all. And I always see places online where these products go on sale all the time (if you're really the frugal type).

✎ Overall impression Guys... I love both products A LOT. A lot a lot. My main reasoning for buying is the fact (especially for the gel) it's 9 9 p e r c e n t aloe vera. And usually you see other aloe vera products about as high as the shower gel (92%) which is still awesome, but seeing the higher amount of course you're gonna be like "I gotta get me some of that."

I used to use but had to stop early in was the Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel 92% Soothing and Moisture because it broke me out. And I tried using it continuously cause I was thinking maybe my face had to get used to it. Then tried stopping for a week and coming back to it etc. Unforunately it didn't work out. Bummed because I really wanted to have aloe vera into my skincare routine. Aloe vera has a lot of benefits whether you're consuming or applying to yourself (healing and removing impurities, hydrating dry areas, reducing acne and hyperpigmentation, soothing sunburns and/or irritated skin the list goes on and on). So again seeing the high amount I'm thinking maybe that's what is was and luckily this brand worked for me. The shower gel worked out for me as well. It's great especially for the summer season right now. It feels really refreshing when you're using it and after using it. Stepping out of the shower you feel that squeaky clean feeling, but it's not drying you or giving that tight feeling.

Both feel very moisturizing as well, but of course remember it's not a moisturizer. Don't treat it like one. It's kinda like an illusion, you still need to use a moisturizer afterwards. I like to use the gel after serums and then apply a moisturizer. Also works well with make-up. You apply it first then do your usual routine.

I recommend guys! Been using it straight for a few months now and I still have plenty of the gel. But this girl showers everyday so the shower gel is almost gone. Again for the amount and the every day showers it's still worth it. Great for the summer if you're looking for a nice shower gel to keep you feeling fresh.

This mask contains 20 ml (0.67 oz) and has a very tart lemon scent, kind of like the rind of a lemon.

The mask is a good size and fits pretty well. I did need to widen the mouth and eye holes, but apart from that, it’s a good fit.

Recommended use is after washing the face, apply toner to tidy up skin texture. Take out the mask and place it on while aligning it with the contour of the face. Remove the mask after 10-20 minutes and gently pat it to promote the absorption of residue into the skin. After using, as mentioned before, this mask does have a noticeable lemon rind/peel kind of scent and it can definitely be an irritant. There are also a few irritants in the ingredient list to watch out for, I'd also recommend wearing sunscreen if you're going to wear this before going out during the day. The effects of the mask are quite beneficial however if you have dull skin or a lot of dark spots on your skin that you'd like to brighten as this is instantly brightening and skin toning. It's also very soothing and hydrating and the effects are long-lasting using this consistently would definitely continue to brighten the skin. Please note, this could be a problem for sensitive skin as I believe you could end up with some noticeable irritation. I'd recommend this to anyone with dull skin, hyperpigmentation, and dark spots.

What I like: this mask smells great and it's very comfortable, it's also nice and brightening and hydrating so it doesn't feel drying at all. It's also very refreshing and smooths out the skin nicely. What I don't like: the scent is likely going to irritate the skin and there are a couple of irritants in the ingredient list. Due to that, it's really not the best for sensitive skin.

Holika Holika Jeju Aloe – Face & Body Care Review

In today’s post I’ll be revewing the Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel and the rest of the products in their Jeju Aloe line. Aloe Vera is a very popular skincare ingredient which has great moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties.

Holika Holika | Aqua petit jelly bb // Cosmetic

Taking a mini break with all the skincare reviews with...

A jelly BB that creates fully hydrated and shiny skin.

Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB SPF 20 in the shade Natural 02 is a jelly like texture BB that hyrdrates and covers up facial blemishes. It's key ingredients are Mint Water to hydrate and Marine Jelly Complex to create soft and bouncy skin. With SPF 20 to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

Directions: With the spatula take an appropriate amount and evenly spread on your face. Patting gently with the sponge applicator.

Package: The BB comes in a cute little white square box. Covered in colorful polka dots, blue accent and the Aqua Jelly logo design in the front. Once open you're greeted with a message on the tab and the company's name; all light blue inside.

Product: The BB itself is in a glass jar shaped like a flower; 40 ml. A decent amount of product. A light blue plastic twist cap with a built in tiny spatula that you use to scoop up the product; covered with white polka dots and again the product name and company on top. Very high end feeling. I've never purchased a BB like this design before. Usually they just come in squeeze tubes. Oh and it comes with a generous sized sponge applicator.

Fragrance: It does have a scent; like a light fresh clean floral smell. It isn't too unpleasant or super strong. The smell starts to dissolve once applied and worked into you skin.

Texture: Jelly! Pretty much the whole schitick right there haha. It's bouncy and light weight. Smoothly glides across your skin. No sticky feeling or any feeling at all. It kinda feels like it melts into your skin so it doesn't feel like you're wearing anything on your face.

Price: It depends on where you buy it. Some places it's pricier than others. The place I purchased it was a fair price; the amount you normally would spend at drugstores and such.

✎ 1st impression So far it's been pretty good. I like how it feels on my face, it's easy to apply, it doesn't cake or cause any dry flakes on my already dry Atacama skin. I personally am not a fan of floral scents, but it really doesn't bother me too much since it's not that strong. Since it's a lightweight texture it does take at least a couple of applications for me personally to cover what I want. It doesn't cover hyperpigmentation, but it does do a good job on covering the redness in my skin. Also evening out my skin tone. I think the sponge applicator that comes with it is actually pretty decent as well and I use that to apply the BB (just remember to wet it first). Surprisingly it hasn't irritated my face causing acne. Which is again wild since every single time I try something new my skin just wants to punish me. I'm guessing the mint water plays into effect here cause I read that the mint helps (well it's controversial apparently don't quote me I'm not an expert haha) with calming acne/redness that sort of thing, so maybe??

Okay and here's when things get weird... After I purchased the product (I didn't read the ingredients like a dumb dumb) on the website it states (even in the pictures) that it has parabens. Now... on my box product the parabens are non-existent. And my box is slightly different cause on the right hand corner it now has ERC (which I have no idea what that stands for). So I'm guessing I bought the newer formula that doesn't contain parabens?? Yeah I don't know. Just be aware if you're going to purchase this product to keep that in mind (I'll show pictures to compare down below). I'm not sure if I'm going to repurchase it incase they're existing parabens. They could have changed the ingredients cause I did notice they also changed the design box product to it's recent look now so again keep that in mind if you're really anal on using parabens.
