For how much Machete is described by others as off-putting, he really is a beautiful dog. Does Vasco ever tell him so? That his eyes make him look earnest, his fur the most comforting shade of white like cream, the way his ears catch light like stained glass? If someone doesn't tell him so, he'd forever think he was ugliest duckling
I think Vasco definitely tries, sincerely and often, but Machete is very reluctant to accept compliments and positive feedback. Especially if it's about something as personal and innate as his looks.
#he quietly spends a lot of time and effort trying to make himself look his best so appearances aren't a trivial thing for him#he's always very clean and neat and presentable#except on those occasions when he's soaked in blood but that's totally besides the point#white fur is kind of high maintenance any tiny bit of dirt or staining becomes an eyesore and if it dries it may be hard to remove#he bathes very frequently way more than average considering the time period#some of the outfits he wears are worth more than the combined lifetime earnings of like six generations of his family#silk was outrageously expensive and the brightest red dye came from pulverized cochineal insects that had to be imported from America#which had been colonized less than a century ago so those tiny little cactus bugs were really troublesome to get and the demand was huge#he doesn't quite have the nerve to wear perfume despite it's widespread popularity at the time#but he makes sure the smell of frankincense burned during church services sticks to his fur and clothes#in general when you spend your entire life around strict emotionally congested highly religious men#you might not end up developing a very healthy self-esteem or body image#once you've internalized that sense of inferiority it's hard to unlearn it#he's so thirsty for approval and praise but when he receives some he immediately gets uncomfortable and distrustful and vaguely angry#he absolutely struggles to compliment people back as well at least on any meaningful and personal level so there's that#answered#anonymous#Machete

I would like to know exactly how luke asking annabeth to run away with him went down.
#annabeth🥺#it's sad to think about how it'll be so much harder for annabeth to unpack and heal from that relationship bc he's dead#it's hard enough to come to terms with someone you love/held in high esteem hurting you so deeply#but she's also grieving him too so it's even harder to hold him accountable to herself and recognizing the good and the bad#she may struggle to not romanticize the memory of him#sorting through what about their relationship was pure and genuine and what was fueled by other stuff#both of their trauma really played into it in some of the worst ways...#but to even recognize how her trauma played into it she'd have to identify what her trauma even is and how it's affected her life#it's really complex and difficult work#and bc he's gone she'll never get to question him on stuff like what he was thinking at certain points and why#so certain things will never get the best closure#ugh it's all so fucked up#MAYBE SOMETHING WE COULD HAVE EXPLORED IN HOO RICHARD???? BUT NO#and it would have been perfect too bc she'd also be dealing with issues caused by both of her parents triggered by the MoA quest#like her mother's conditional love#and trauma from her mortal family#and her fear of spiders relates to both of these things bc it's a phobia that's passed down from her mom's actions#so she's being punished for something she's not responsible for and also being burdened with a quest simply for being her mother's daughter#and it also represents her mortal family's neglect bc they ignored her needs and all that...#AND THEN the only person she's received actually pure and good unconditional love from was snatched from her for 6 months#and the MoA quest could have been a way to confront some of these fears and wounds...so she's a little stronger by tartarus which#should bring out the best in her and the worst in percy#and then he can work through some stuff too down there#HoO could have been a journey for them where they're undone and then healed#bc at the end of everything they have the medicine to literally everything which is real love (which they have for each other intensely)#the rant I could go on about this...I have so many thoughts about what HoO should have been. maybe one day#annabeth chase#luke castellan#✏️

#my thoughts#seriously the timing of that compliment could not have been more perfect#I didn’t want to go into the store because I felt like a hot mess#we had camped the night before and I hadn’t brushed my hair because I accidentally packed up all the brush before I did it#and I was in my comfy clothes because we had a long car ride ahead of us#so I was feeling self conscious and to get a compliment of such high status hit me hard#it wasn’t that my shirt looked good or anything it was just saying that I myself was pretty#and in such a raw state of myself it made me feel so good#and she was so pretty too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#so yeah if you were a Starbucks barista in Albertsons in Taos New Mexico end of may/beginning of June last year and complimented#a random stranger just know that it is probably my favorite compliment I have ever received and thinking on it makes me happy

really unsure where i stand on baba is you
#idk i think i wouldn't feel so unsure about it if not for the fact that the positive reviews for it so far exceed the negative#which is not to say i can't have different opinions etc etc but. it's fine? it's okay?#i know there's an 'end game' and i'm still going just to see that but. i would have stopped a long time ago#and part of me still thinks that this 'end game' won't be worth it#idk it's just. for all the negative stuff i saw about the witness (which has a ratio still positive but far less so than baba is you)#which i think genuinely does an amazing job of teaching you how things work and keeping puzzles fresh without jumping too much#i can't help but feel that baba is you does a poor if not sometimes terrible job#i never learned a rule wrong or was confused about what a rule was in the witness#in baba is you? more than once#i know it's not fair to compare these two quite different puzzle games but i really am like. where are all the naysayers for this one?#that imo is genuinely more justified in receiving 'rules unclear' 'leaps in logic too high' 'where's the narrative driving this' criticisms#playing baba is you

Ooh there's a WIP called Buried Love that's basically that - love island but with supernaturals. It's really fun!! Also just a fun concept, I'd be so down for more dating show themed IF 😍
i found out about it earlier today and i read a little of it in-between work, and i'm really enjoying it so far! if you haven't already, definitely go check @buriedlove, it's really fun if!
i think i'm going to take some time before i commit to making a blog and all that for my own because i know there's gonna have to be a lot of planning for the routes (especially at the level that i want it to be) but it definitely is something i want to write!
