What's Arkham like for Roman?
Not a fun experience for him, or anybody else for that matter. Roman is a very difficult patient with a notoriously short fuse, his most dangerous quality being how he can go from 0-100 in an instant. He can appear to be fine one moment, seemingly calm and quiet but the wrong look at the wrong time, hearing a word he doesn’t like can be enough to trigger an explosion. His unpredictability and penchant for inflicting maximum damage as quickly as possible makes him an especially unpopular patient amongst orderlies, splitting them into two groups where people either fear him or hate his guts, deliberately antagonizing him further with choice words (freak is always a favourite) and actions knowing he’ll struggle not to react.
It’s a vicious cycle not helped by either side. Several employees have lost family and loved ones to Roman and others like him through drugs or gang wars, and while they can’t retaliate against him in the way they’d like to, they can fuck with him and make his experience in the asylum a miserable one. Roman’s paranoia combined with his inherent mistrust of authority figures is only reinforced further as each slight, every jab only makes his hackles rise further, inevitably leading to staff drugging him to the eyeballs with sedatives in order to keep him managable.
Roman does behave slightly better when it comes to psychiatrists, though he’s changed hands a number of times when his anger issues and untrusting personality become too much to handle. He’s touchy about certain subjects, not appreciating attempts to ‘pry’ into his childhood or decision to transition. One psychiatrist who dared call him by his birthname immediately became an enemy in his eyes, permanently rendering any further sessions together impossible. @arkhampsych‘s Dr. Jonathan Crane has so far proved himself the best candidate at ‘controlling’ Roman, remaining unflustered even in the face of violent outbursts while Roman in turn is more forthcoming not only about giving information but listening to instructions without his usual defiance.
All in all, Roman detests being in Arkham and his lawyer is quick to get him released as soon as possible, going as far as bribing officials while masked individuals started threatening the right people to get their boss back out on the streets once again.

i think my favorite part of IT chapter two is when eddie crashes his car. like it kind of has everything. eddie insane road rage <3. eddie being a bit of a dick "it's my job to assess risks", it has "i love you mommy" which makes me want to jump off a bridge. eddie gesturing wildly instead of holding onto the wheel. his stupid fucking "edward kaspbrak speaking" <3 the face he makes when he's talking to mike lol. like he's expecting the car display to change. "EDDIE! are you okay?" "yeah! i'm pretty good."

metalhead ghost who’s been in moshpits since he was a kid and is now a veteran of the scene and the self appointed look out. he keeps an eye out for anyone falling or passing out, kicks the shit out of anyone crowd killing or putting their hands where they shouldn’t
and he’s been keeping an eye on the punk in the kilt since he saw him throw himself headfirst into the wall of death
he looks like the type to start shit - loud and aggressive as anyone else here but a punk doesn't end up at a metal show for no reason - but there's also something niggling at him that he's gonna end up getting himself hurt. and ghost can’t tell if he’s going to do it on purpose
if he does, ghost needs to know. he uses these places as an escape - the music, the violence, the community - always has and he knows all to well how easily an escape can curdle and become destructive. he’s seen too many people lost to the darker parts of the scene, almost lost himself to it; he doesn’t want it to happen to anyone else if he can help it
so when he sees the punk sweating his mohawk off, his movements becoming looser and uncoordinated, he has no issues with yanking him out of the pit and pulling him away from the crowd; pushing him up against the venue wall and ordering him to open his mouth
the glaze that falls over his eyes concerns him even as he obediently lets his mouth fall open. he was right; the punk’s severely dehydrated, tongue and gums far to pale and along with the look in his eyes, he half-thinks he’s about to drop
he reflexively tightens his hold on his jaw to keep him up and the punk shivers, a flush creeping up his neck. an almost confused arousal joins the haze in his eyes and ghost smirks beneath his mask
looks like metal shows aren’t the only thing the punk is new to

i am absolutely obsessed with your alpha dave because you just hit that itch for me when it comes to the idea of guardians being the worst version of what their kid version could become. i've always wondered that, if the alpha guardians had the same concept the beta guardians did, how would they be-- especially dave, cause the striders relationships with their guardians are always so like. volatile? just the idea of dave growing up with no one to give him proper attention or care or love, (1/2)
and instead of bettering himself he just turns to the constant attention and eyes of the public when he becomes famous, because he NEEDS attention, he needs people to want him and crave him and look up to him and shit. and alpha dave just going down this spiral of doing more and more wack shit to get the public's attention, doing hard drugs with nasty circles he shouldn't be getting himself in, cause he's constantly chasing after the euphoria of people "loving" him. thats all thank you for listening to me go on and on like a maniac. tldr alpha dave being the worst version of who dave can be is an idea i am absolutely obsessed with partially due to your interpretations of him. ur art and ideas are stellar about the striders (2/2)
oh my god I love you. yes this very much how i envision alpha dave to be and it really falls into my stringent devotion to the concept of "universal karma" i.e. where beta dirk strider was so aloof and in his own head alpha dave strider must exist as an extreme direct inverse of that. needy, demanding, overbearing. this man, much like beta dirk, was not built to be a guardian. I think he kind of sucks super bad and it's so awesome. i could go on and on and on about this but I already have another ask in my drafts about him that’s hit 1k words with no end in sight and who knows when that’ll be ready. thank you for your kind observations. picture me smiling at you right now.

there's the potential for a dark AU where hurt and comfort have become so intrinsically linked in his mind that if a succession war between Medraut and Lleu took place where Lleu would come out as the winner and had him imprisoned, he would antagonize Medraut until he lashed out at him. Lleu would force Medraut to hurt him, because he's gotten addicted to the way his brother gave him pain and the bittersweet reconcilation that followed afterwards when the feelings of guilt arise. If Medraut can only love Lleu when he is hurt and hurts [hates] Lleu when he is loved, then the obvious solution is that Lleu has to be hurt all the time thus can he be loved eternally.
