Story Time!
I have a Build-a-Bear werewolf I bought last Halloween. I named him Jack because that’s a nice name for a werewolf, I think.
I take him with me when I travel because it’s nice to have something to cuddle with other than my husband.
We were staying in an extremely quaint nowhere motel in Northern Michigan this past weekend, and when we went out for the day, I just left Jack laying on the bed, like whatever.
When I came back that night, I found that the housekeeping staff had tucked Jack in underneath the covers and turned the TV on, presumably for him to watch.
This tiny motel ran up their electricity bill just so my stuffed animal could watch TV. For an unknown amount of time.
It’s been days, and I can’t stop thinking about how silly and wonderful this small little act (of kindness?) was.

Green Soup
Aka potato/spinach/broccoli soup. Other ingredients would probably also be good, though might make it less green.
Ingredients:
Measure them all with your heart
Potatoes, cut up
Frozen spinach (i can't see a reason not to use fresh, but frozen is cheap and comes pre-compacted)
Broccoli, cut up (this is a great use for broccoli stems. Chop them up, put them in the freezer, use in soup)
Onion, cut up
Garlic (cut up)
Lentils (optional, for protein)
Basil
Oregano (or whatever herbs you like in soup)
Water
Broth powder (replace water and powder with real broth if you want, i just very rarely make soup)
Butter
Steps:
Defrost all vegetables that have been frozen. I did not do this, and i probably should have.
Cook onions in butter on medium heat until translucent
Add potatoes, water, garlic, spices, and broth powder. Bring to a boil. Remember why "stockpot" is on your when-you-have-money/space list.
Add broccoli. Bring to a boil for a while, until broccoli is soft.
Add spinach.
Add lentils.
Cook until lentils are soft.
Blend until its a green paste (probably optional, i just like blended soups)
Unrelated to the recipe but this is the best bread i've ever made.

#perth.txt#my skills include. um. i'm bilingual working on trilingual. i can send email. i can answer the phone with great difficulty but i can.#i really enjoy physical labour & all in all i'm probably good at talking to people? i'd like to think i'm friendly & approachable#i'd really prefer doing physical labour over like any form of customer service but realistically i could do that?#i don't think i can do food service though. maybe the dishes?? im a bit insane about cleanliness wrt dishes though so i could be slow#honestly i could see myself working w children pretty well but like. what are jobs for that beyond babysitter#& babysitters arent exactly paid well last i checked but i can see how it works through an agency maybe#i can also work w animals. p much anything that isnt bugs honestly#um. what are jobs that exist. man i don't know

Local libraries getting rid of physical medias such as newspapers, magazines, cds, dvds, and audiobooks is turning experiencing art into a privilege instead of a right but I don't think you guys are ready for that conversation
#the 95 year old lady who takes the city bus from the old folks home three times a week doesn't have spotify or a smartphone or a computer#how is she going to listen to her johnny cash cds#do you know how many kids I attended school with didn't have internet or wifi???#that wasn't even that long ago#they do not have streaming services stop getting rid of dvds and stop not buying new ones#also there are so many people who have a smart phone and the only thing they know how to do is call or text#if they want to keep using audiobooks let them! It's not killing you that they're not using libby#yes libby and hoopla and kanopy are great but the latter two have limited checkouts and the former usually has long waits#its not fair to expect older people and children learn how to use them if they don't want to or can't!#also magazines are basically unreadable online#so many girls will not be able to experience borrowing american girl magazines from the library because the library doesn't have magazines!#also don't even get me started on no newspapers#sorry I don't have the money for a monthly subscription to a newpaper guess I just won't know the news now#this is why everyone is getting fake news from twitter!#"but everyone has spotify and streaming services and audible and wifi and internet and smartphones and ipads and laptops#newsflash! they don't!#getting rid of physical media from libraries is actually very classist and ageist but people don't want to hear that#I love local libraries and think they are an amazing resource in so many ways#and that's why it hurts so much that they would leave such a large portion of their customers high and dry to maybe save a few bucks#rant#tags so long they probably could've been their own post lol

true boys are out tonight vibe at work today for the first time at this job (at lush it was near constantly good vibes only, until the transfer...) and I have been coasting all day. even the last half hour I was like I am having a ball on this bitch, I made a $700 sale and then had a 20 minute conversation with a funny guy named Guy who worked here in the 80s, both of them very drunk white dads, and it was a BLAST. I am riding this high forever.
