Just thinking about Geralt of Rivia and all the things he thought he couldn't be
Just thinking about "Geralt Roger Eric du Haute-Bellegarde"
Just thinking about Geralt learning and using an accent that didn't belong to him for the rest of his life so people would trust him
Just thinking about Geralt wanting to be a hero
Just thinking about Geralt becoming the Butcher of Blaviken
Just thinking about Geralt becoming the White Wolf
Just thinking about Geralt being the same man through all of that
Just thinking about Geralt being fundamentally and irrevocably changed by all of that
Just thinking about Geralt finding out that his name is the one Visenna gave him
Just thinking about Geralt being knighted by Queen Meve thus legitimizing the name he gave himself
Just thinking about how Geralt feels choiceless and yet creates himself
Just thinking about how Geralt feels fundamentally alone and yet is created by those around him
Just thinking about Geralt being so completely formed by a world he thinks he stands outside of
Just thinking!! About Geralt!!

🌷Geraskier summer fic recs🌷
Stories that make me nostalgic, an incomplete list. (also previous rec lists for autumn and spring)
Hawthorn by darkmagess
[Explicit, 13k]
Geralt tries very hard after the mountain. Very interesting dynamics. This author writes herbalism into the story and it always takes my breath away.

[Teen, 5k]
Featuring Jaskier's dramatics and Geralt being utterly in love.

We talk about Geralt initially choosing the name Geralt Roger Eric du Haute-Bellegarde for himself. But we never talk about the moment of peak comedy immediately following his revelation.
Geralt tells the hansa about it, then says.
"Only after I insisted on adopting the name Geralt Roger Eric du Haute-Bellegarde. Vesemir thought it was ridiculous. I dare say he was right."
And look. It is a long ass name. Pretty flowery and involved. But then what does Dandelion do? Does he tease Geralt? No. He looks at the assembled company, which includes Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff, and Cahir Mawr Dyffryn aep Ceallach and....
"Dandelion snorted loudly, looking meaningfully at the vampire and the Nilfgaardian."
He's such a bitch. lol
"My full name," Regis said, a little piqued by the look, is authentic. And in keeping with vampire tradition."
"Mine too," Cahir hurried to explain. "Mawr is my mother's given name, and Dyffryn my great-grandfather's. And there's nothing ridiculous about it, poet. And what's your name by the way? Dandelion must be a psuedonym."
"I can neither use nor betray my real name," the bard replied mysteriously, proudly putting on airs. "It's too celebrated."
