Feeling a bit bummed, I had a whole week off but spent most of it doing everything else but writing! Feeling better physically now covid is getting it's ass kicked, thought I was better the other day but was still wiped out. Oh well, another new year is upon us and my holiday schedule is refreshed so here's hoping next time off is put to better use. In happier news, the baby boy is getting bigger and prettier!

but you know what i'd love to take this opportunity to say that, traditionally, a Brooklyn accent is not a Queens accent, and a Queens accent sounds like a Jersey accent.

Brooklyn accents seem to incorporate a's into all mid-vowels and hard r's at end vowels and your mouth sounds full of bagel but every word goes by so fast the person listening may still miss the whole sentence lmao.

My mom has the illest Brooklyn accent, so actually, when she says Florida, it sounds like "Floarder," though the "er" is quite subtle. (Her friend Laura is "Laurer.")

the Brooklyn accent is largely a dead accent now that Brooklyn is gentrified and flushed with wealth. and thanks to globalization, people around the world say, "Y'all" (not v NYC At All imo) and "youse guys" (probably yes?)

my vowels are more spanish. to me, "Miami" is "MEE-ami" and not "MYE-ami." although i intentionally mispronounce things. "ha-la-payne-yo" is always "jallaHpiNNoGh." this is because i'm annoying.

Howdy y'all it's me Emily and welcome to my weird yet relatable downward-then-upward spiral!

Anyway I've been RPing since like 2012ish? And I've been in Isola since before it was Isola, as part of the initial migration. If you've been here a while, you may remember my stints as Marceline (Adventure Time), Brooke Page (Ever After High), Ryuko Matoi (Kill la Kill), or Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles). Some of those adventures lasted longer than others, but that's pretty much everyone I've had rolling around in here over the years. I'm a librarian! I'm working on finishing grad school so I can have my Masters in Library Science, and it has been a struggle--school does not agree with me at all, but I need this degree. Anyway, I love my chosen career and I love my library and I'm always happy to talk books or give readers advisory/recommend books for you!! When I'm not doing school, work, or RP, I have an eclectic mess of hobbies. I'm AuDHD (Autism + ADHD) and that has a huge affect on my entire life, of course, but I'm also late-diagnosed so I'm still learning about what the diagnoses mean for me. ANYWAY I like to play casual video games, rewatch the same YouTube videos over and over, write for OCs, play D&D, Cosplay, and color/attempt artistic endeavors. I'm a Disney fan, and I love Disney movies, and I have a big special interest in Disney Park Attraction History--I've actually made a whole bunch of programs at my library a la Defunctland about 3 of the 4 WDW parks, and I'm currently working on making one about the hotels of WDW. 7. describe your favorite relationship dynamic. (can be any kind, platonic, romantic, familial, antagonistic, etc.)

My absolute favorite relationship dynamic is found family. I grew up on so many found family films as a kid: Land Before Time, James and the Giant Peach, Lilo and Stitch. I eat that dynamic up! Characters whose lives cross paths and they grow closer and fill gaps the other usually did not know they needed. It is a bond that’s not just love, but also finding “your people” and your home.

9. when you look at a new blog, what is it that makes you press the follow button? is it the muse, the aesthetics, the writing–?

There’s a good number of elements that influence me to press the follow button.

Right off the bat at first glance: aesthetic. How is the blog presenting itself? What’s the description like? (Like are the doing a summary or telling me their entire like story in a wall of text). Is their age shown? Is there a rules & info page for their muse? Are they using icons? How many fonts are they using and are they legible? (Graphic design minor tendencies lol). You can tell a lot about someone just by the immediate presentation alone.

The first thing I look for is a rules page & the muns age. I will not follow if those are not present.

Second thing I look for is if they are mutuals only or not. Is this a Sideblog or the main hub? That way I know if they follow me back or soft block me, I’ll know if they want to engage with me.

Since I rp an OC, it’s a make or break deal if they say they absolutely will not engage with OC’s. If they’re selective and open to possibly interacting with OC’s, then I continue reading the rest of the rules.

Sometimes if I’m leery, I will scroll through their blog to see who they’re rping with. The more people I recognize that I follow and/or interact with, then I’m slapping the follow haha.

Also looking for a pattern in what muse blogs they themselves are interacting with and if I get a feel for motive. For instance, if I see a persons main goal is romantic ships, I will pause on following and weigh the pros and cons based on what I’ve already seen. Are they pinning for one character in particular and collecting them like sexy time trading cards? There’s certainly nothing wrong with that, but I love building any kind of relationship with a muse, romantic or not. Exploring their dynamics and chemistry. I made this blog in February and just started shipping with several rp partners I met from the beginning. We’ve done dozens of interactions to build our characters dynamics and said “Yeah! This would work out.” It usually takes me a while to get interested romantically unless the character somehow manages to snag mines attention quicker. I go by my muses vibes honestly haha.

Lastly, I do look at a persons rping. While I’m not particularly picky on length, if I’m seeing a lot of 1 - 3 sentence responses to others that wrote paragraphs, yeah no.

Loved my thread with @oraclememehacker , you, where Fuuka tries to protect Futaba from a cognitive Akechi and created a huge rip in their friendship, which makes Fuuka try her hardest to repair that friendship.

A thread with @dxfiedfxte where Fuuka is kidnapped and leads to Minato saving her—and ends up with Fuuka getting hurt and Minato almost died from that…and lead to Fuuka’s connection with Juno being severed.

The smutty thread with @transcendentxchronicles and their Akihiko. Just one simple kiss led to them admitting their feelings for one another. I think we are continuing that thread on discord though lol

I'm actually kind of a boring introvert! My hobbies are all kinda at-home things these days - gaming, I picked cross-stitch back up, or I read a book, or play with my cats... my 'day out' kind of thing are usually in celebration of something (like on my birthdays - pre-Covid - we'd go to the Shakespeare theater in Chicago and see a play... I haven't been since 2019? Maybe 2018? :( ), or just to go grab dinner with my partner at... usually a sushi/ramen place. But more often than not, if I'm hanging out with the only two local friends I have, even that is like... at my apartment and we go out to dinner, then come back to watch something together... because they're gamer introverts too, lol!

Other than that... going to a zoo, or aquarium, if we're making a day of it! I LOVE ANIMALS. And despite all my favorite animals being land animals, I'm obsessed with aquariums, ha! I also kinda want to spend a day hitting the museums around Chicago with my partner, and an RP pal we've made who lives in the Chicago area, as well... so maybe sometime this summer I'll brave the masses again and try not to think about Covid. xD

What’s your ship bias?

I don’t really have a ship bias, pre say?? I usually like chemistry just flow through the muses because just how I view relationships go? Some chemistry work platonically only and some work romantically!

I do like making Ei get drawn to characters that her warriors/fighters for a sense of familiarity. Giving her more point of view of other fighters since each fighter have their own motives and agendas with that sense of familiarity there are always differences. That and she learn different fighting styles that are linked with their homeland!

I'm a very emotional connection kinda gal as you can see from my tier and little character study babble on the current ships I have. I like taking the lore and expanding on it, as well as having slow-burn romances.

Though there are always expectations like opposites attract, etc. It is all about how they will clash or mix since unfortunately the two romances each character requires aren't filled by the other. Same as platonic, you can think they would befriend each other but acting it out doesn't really work.

Honestly...none of these? I never really had a phase where I pretended to be an animal. Was this something most kids did with friends? In b4 I did not have many friends growing up

I was more of a ‘put pretty dresses on my American Girl dolls and read all of the AG books. And then various historical fiction targeted at young girls books.’ child and a ‘I want every stuffed animal, especially all the kitties, at the Disney Store so I can lay on them while watching movies’ child.

Does this make me a cat child? I’ve always had cats growing up and love them immensely (especially my current feline child who is perfect in every way). I have a bit of a dog phobia, which was more intense as a kid, so I definitely wasn’t a dog child. (Note: Dogs on my dash are fine! It’s more encountering big dogs in person that scares me, due to past experiences). 

And while I had Barbies and Disney Princess dolls, and they had pretty clothes, they didn’t come with books. Books about history! Books that had corresponding historical fashion!

I was too young to understand this was why they appealed to me so much but uh...little has changed there, I guess.

😳-What is something or someone you have always wanted to write with? i.e. a particular plot, a character, etc. ˗ˏˋ★ I do want to do some HYDRA-based stuff eventually, explore more of the Winter Soldier in HYDRA / directly after the events of the Winter Soldier (After DC, before the Sokovia Accords). Not Trash stuff, just haven't gotten a chance to flesh out that part of things. Also WW2 / Pre-WW2 stuff <3

😮-What is your favorite thing about your muse? ˗ˏˋ★ I don't know? I've been writing this character for so long it's hard to pin down. I just remember getting attached to Bucky as the Winter Soldier when the movie was trailer-ing because I had a teacher who was obsessed with Cap. In part because I've always favored edgier / tragic characters + I was at a point in my life where I'd latch onto any sort of 'out'/coping thing super hard. + My school friends were super into the Avengers as a whole, so we would write our little characters with each other (not on Tumblr, I started this page after I turned 18 lol)-- So it's been nearly 10 years haha

What’s your favorite movie?

Mun: THE MUMMY RETURNS/The Mummy - I mean as if it wasn't obvious. I love the mummy returns so much it's just so much fun and so quotable and it's one of those formative films that made me fall in love with adventure/pulp movies like that.

I also really love: The World's End, Galaxy Quest and Muppet Treasure Island, Die Hard.

Who’s your favorite actress/actor? -

So I have a few, I used to get very hyperfocused on actors, but I'm going to be honest I might not have seen everything they've been in. I think part of this is because I really like characters so if they have several characters I like I just class them as my favourite actors. I also think Rickman's death had an impact on me getting too attached to actors/actresses.....

Anyway, my favourites are: Rachel Weisz, Alan Rickman, Sam Neill, TIlda Swinton

Do you collect anything movie-related? Is there a backstory to any of those items?

So I used to collect DVD's and I have about 300+ of those but I stopped because of streaming/room/cost. They used to be a special thing I could get when I wasn't earning very much money. I have a few pop funkos and such but I think my collecting of movie/tv stuff really stopped after a certain author revealed herself to be a certain type of way. I don't want to get into politics here but that franchise was my specialist interest and I knew everything and I had so much merch, even a lot of stuff from before the films ever came out. I even have sticker books with animations from before the movies were released. I just found that I couldn't, in good conscious, keep engaging with the franchise and talking about - which kind of meant endorsing it - when the author/creator was and still is actively trying to hurt a minority of people.

I still have the stuff in my loft, packed away safe in case she ever apologises and realises the error of her ways but it kind of made me hesitant about collecting a lot of movie stuff.

That being said I do enjoy getting stuff that's like not directly merch but more fan created or something I see and associate with the movie (if that makes sense) - so like I have a Mark Sloan (Diagnosis Murder) build a bear. I have a star trek build a bear too with a little phaser.

Are there any movies that had a huge impact on you? In what way?

The Mummy/The Mummy Returns - It influences everything. I think watching it was one of the first times I sort of registered that this is how you do good, 3 dimensional characters. It's such a fantastic example of how to do a good ensemble cast movie. A brilliant example of how to balance comedy and horror and I adore it.

There's a lot of movies that have had a huge impact on me in different areas of my life so it kind of depends what we're talking about. I have to break them down and catergorise them haha!

Have you ever met an actress/actor? -

Tv actors and actresses I've met a few, I used to know someone who worked in soaps over here in the UK and they'd often have parties with soap actresses/actors.

I met Bianca Del Rio at a meet and greet.

I had the opportunity to meet a few at the Macbeth Premiere in Edinburgh but I was too nervous and chickened out (I wanted to meet Paddy Considine and have him sign something for me so BAD).

I just get too nervous tbh. So I don't know if I'd be able to meet one.
