cinder may take pleasure in exerting her frustrations onto her people, sowing fear and discomfort among her subordinates...but neo is decidedly /not/ the fall maiden's henchman. and though cinder talks a decidedly big game, neo doesn't subscribe to the image of a terrifying monster. in fact, she's mostly pissed that she's forced to pretend to be a 17 year old while roman languishes in jail. so when mercury comes back to their shared dorm at beacon, neo is in the middle of attaching a bucket to the top of the door. it thankfully hasn't been filled yet, so when it falls on mercury's head, it doesn't get him wet. it just leaves a mild mark on his forehead. neo flinches from her spot on the ladder above him.

'sorry,' neo signs when he catches her eye, fist pressed against her chest, but she hardly looks repentant. she then finger spells out, 'c-i-n-d-e-r,' so mercury understand who it's really meant for. and can help her rig it back up, if he's brave enough. neo's missing having a sadistic partner in crime.

All things considered, Mercury had been having a pretty okay day thus far. Didn’t get caught skipping the first period, had some decent lunch in the cafeteria for once, and wasn’t noticed slipping out the door of his last class of the day. But, it seems his luck had run dry with that last little sneak -- the bucket not-so-gently donks against his forehead, and he lets out a disgruntled (but not all that pained) “ow” sound. 

Rubbing his palm against his forehead, his eyes first land on the bucket on the floor -- which he snatches into his free hand -- then over to his (apparently) unwitting assailant. He gives an over-exaggerated eyeroll, and as his eyes travel, he can’t help but notice she must have done way more work than was necessary to get the damn thing alllll the way up there. He bites his tongue from making a jab at her height, not wanting to draw her ire too much, so instead he settles for:

“I think you need to work on your aim.”

He snorts, and gestures for her to step aside, while he takes a step closer to the door. As he does so, he brushes his bangs into his forehead a little more, to cover up whatever mark the bucket must have left.

“Let me do it.”

There’s a hint of annoyance in his tone, sure, but that’s not really a far cry from how he usually sounds -- and beneath that annoyance, could that be… apprehension, excitement, maybe, for whatever watery-buckety-doom awaits Cinder once she comes back to the dorm? Sure seems like it. Partner in crime? Merc’s ready, willing, and eager. 

“We filling this with anything, or just dropping buckets for fun?”

He asks, drumming his fingertips around the rim. Water is fine and all, but his mind is starting to wander, oh lord, Mercury’s getting Ideas.

Maverick would have a single recording of him catching Ice subconsciously mumbling “ice ice baby” under his breath. It’s the only time he’d ever be able to get Iceman on camera singing, too. BUT the catch is in his haste to video it he didnt realize his thumb was halfway over the camera so you can only see Ice’s hair (Ice has tried and failed on multiple occasions to get Maverick to delete it)

*taps mic; a certain gentleman is standing right beside him*

"Good evenin', everyone!! We're back!! Hope you didn't miss us much!"

"It sure hasn't been that long.... has it....?"

Something about this felt… disregarded. Even if he had been aware he, himself, didn't really give much context of which had spoken earlier; the way this woman went about it made it seem as if he had only spoken gibberish rather than words of meaning. Even so, Jack took that little note, giving it a thought that because of the missing context… Neff isn't aware of the weight.

And because of that alone, what he had spoken, would in fact… sadly… come off like what she had described.

It made him sick. Not for any other reason than that only he knows the context. And regardless of what sort of hints he could muster, the hints will never be enough to give the full picture.

Still… it only sounded as if her 'triggers' were nothing more than being irrational and obnoxious. Wonder how she deals with anyone else, much less, children.

“… Deal.”

A pause, attention drawn to the wound, dawning a slow realization that there is a faint, numbed pulse resonated from the heat dripping down to the pavement.

Adrenaline sure is a funny thing, isn't it? … It is almost as if pain becomes nonexistent for a blissful moment.

“What of it? … It'll be fine.”

Almost as if the whole point of giving a second chance doesn't involve allowing trust to build…

I just realized what's wrong with the Targaryen wigs in HotD: they don't look like Targaryen hair, they look like they were stolen from the Malfoys. They all share one (1) or at best two wigs in toto and it makes them look like freaking Lucius Malfoy clones

I don’t want a fionna and cake series. Please hbo just let this show have a narratively satisfying end pleaaase. The ending of adventure time was so good and such a good sendoff and it only WORKS if it’s an actual ending, it only works if we’re actually saying goodbye. Literally the whole message of the finale was that sometimes you have to let things end and accept that things will never be how they were, and that there’s beauty in that acceptance because no matter what changes it doesn’t erase what you had. You cannot literally have that be the entire THESIS of the last three or four seasons and then keep drawing it out for cash and nostalgia

Ah... Here it is. The gentle soul who suggested the captain should show some affection toward his counterparts. The gentle soul that made him smile upon receiving such a request. The gentle soul which he promptly forgot and ultimately ignored, for a mixture of bad memories, haunting questions, and terrible nightmares was all he had to offer instead. An awkward, pensive stance is adopted. No doubt he is reflecting on his mistakes... But are they truly mistakes? The questions he posed as the small ghost of the past— they were worth posing. He may lie to everyone else, but he should at least be honest with himself. Even if that ends up bringing more misery in return.

«Admittedly...», he commences, somewhat bashful, «... perhaps my interactions with my twins have not been the healthiest as of late. Apologies for letting you down, strange yet respectable traveler. Do make sure to pay them a visit yourself and share some kind words. They do require it. They may at times smile. Sometimes, said expressions are naught but fabrications... And other times, they may very well be genuine. But even when the latter is the case... Well. The momentary happiness seems ever so fleeting». He would know. So, do him the favor, kind one. Make sure to leave some positivity for his beloved twins, so that they may know they do not walk on their own, without a single soul to support them on their journeys.
