Authenticity Ch. 13: Support

This one is for @pokegeek151's request: "If I may make a request, I'd love to see Wild helping/comforting one of the other members of the chain when they are having a rough time. Warriors, Time, Four, and Legend are my favorites, so maybe one of them?" I hope you like it!!! <3333333

Summary: Warriors has a nightmare. Wild feels out of his depth, but he helps.

Wild was reclined against the trunk of the tree, letting his legs hang off the branch and swing. The night was clear and brisk, but he had his cloak for warmth and comfort. Wild always loved the night; there was something about being the only one awake, something about knowing no one was watching and he was completely free.

His ears were attuned to all the small sounds of the forest, as they always were, so he was aware the moment Warriors started tossing and turning in his bedroll. Wild watched for a moment, and he was close enough to see the sweat forming on the captain’s brow. Wild bit his lip in indecision and counted to twenty to see if Warriors would calm down on his own.

When Wild got to thirteen, Warriors started speaking in his sleep.

“No,” Warriors whispered. His fists were clenched in his blanket tight enough to turn his knuckles white, and his face was scrunched. Wild thought it looked similar to the face he made when he was in pain.

Wild made his decision and jumped down from the tree. He tiptoed around the other sleeping heroes and knelt next to Warriors.

“Warriors,” Wild whispered. The captain didn’t wake.

“Warriors,” Wild said again, trying his hardest to make his voice louder, but not loud enough to wake the others. It took a lot of his concentration. Warriors still didn’t wake.

Wild picked up his hand, but paused over Warriors shoulder. Wild never liked to be touched when he was stressed or waking from a nightmare, except by Wolfie, but he didn’t know another way to wake Warriors. Pushing down the clenching in his chest, Wild dropped his hand and shook Warriors’ shoulder.

Warriors jolted up with a gasp. Wild whipped his hand back to his side and shook both hands to even out the sensations. Warriors breathed heavily, head turning rapidly to take in his surroundings.

“Wars,” Wild whispered. Warriors flinched and turned to Wild. Wild noticed Warriors had pulled a knife out from somewhere and was holding it in a white-knuckled grip.

“It’s just me,” Wild said. “I’m not gonna hurt you, it’s okay.”

Warriors stared blankly at Wild for a moment before he let out a ragged breath and let his head fall into his hands. The knife was perilously close to his face, and it made Wild’s heart skip a beat.

“Um,” Wild started, but his voice faded out. He had absolutely no idea what to say. Warriors obviously wasn’t okay, so that question would be redundant. Wild thought back to the times Twilight has helped him after a nightmare and tried desperately to recall the things his mentor did that helped.

“Do you, uh, do you want to talk about it?” Wild asked. Twilight always asked that question, and Wild always refused. Sometimes he would talk the next day, but after a nightmare his chest always felt far too tight and the words got stuck in his throat.

Warriors let out another loud breath and shook his head no. “Sorry,” Warriors said.

“What are you sorry for?” Wild asked. Warriors hadn’t done anything wrong.

Warriors hesitated before responding. He dragged his hands down his face and let them fall into his lap. His eyes were locked on the knife in his hands, and only then did he uncurl his grasp.

“For, you know,” Warriors waved one of his hands in the general direction of his head. “This. I didn’t mean to wake you.” Warriors’ voice was soft and unsteady.

“I was already awake,” Wild said. “I still don’t know what you’re apologizing for. You had a nightmare, you didn’t do anything wrong.”

Warriors let out another breath, but Wild thought that one sounded closer to a laugh. Wild checked Warriors mouth and found his lips curled up slightly, almost to a smile. Wild’s brows furrowed in confusion. Warriors ran a hand through his hair, and Wild noticed his hands were shaking. His face was still pale, too. Wild knew neither of those were normal for the captain, but he wasn’t sure how to fix it.

An idea came to his mind and Wild jumped to his feet. He rushed to his bedroll, and quickly dug through his bag. He pulled open Brenda the Second’s special pouch and gently took her out. Wild hugged her to his chest with a smile, then bounced back over to Warriors.

Wild sat back down next to Warriors and held out Brenda the Second. “Here. She’ll make you feel better,” Wild said.

Warriors hesitated for a long moment. He kept glancing between Wild and Brenda the Second. “Are you sure?” Warriors asked.

“Yeah! When I’m sad I always like to have a soft friend to hug. You can hold Brenda the Second in front of you and I’ll sit behind you for the rest of my watch, and then nothing bad can get to you,” Wild said with a smile.

“Emotional support horse,” Wild added when Warriors still didn’t move. Warriors chuckled softly and very, very gently took Brenda the second from Wild.

“Thanks, champion,” Warriors whispered. His voice was still shaky, but stronger than it had been

“I don’t really know what else to do,” Wild admitted. “You can talk if you want. Or sleep, and I’ll make sure nothing happens.”

“I don’t think I’ll be going back to sleep tonight,” Warriors said. He was staring out into the forest and his shoulders were hunched.

“We can sit together, then,” Wild said. He stood up to gather his bedroll then brought it next to Warriors. He spent a few minutes setting it up perfectly, even though he wouldn’t be sleeping any more tonight, then settled on top of the blankets. Wild glanced over at Warriors and saw the captain watching him.

“Is this okay?” Wild asked.

“Can you… nevermind,” Warriors said. His face flushed and he turned away.

“What?” Wild asked, turning to face Warriors.

“Can you talk about something? It doesn’t matter what, I just… don’t like the quiet,” Warriors said. His voice was very nearly too quiet for Wild to make out, so he had to concentrate hard to understand the words.

“I can definitely do that,” Wild said, and began to sway side to side. “Did you know that if you cook enough endura shrooms and endura carrots you can ride a lynel?”

Warriors choked on a laugh. “How exactly do you know that fact?”

“I think it’s in my best interest to not answer that question. Anyway, endura shrooms usually grow in small forests…”

-this one is a LITTTLEE easy i will admit but,,,Cat,,,,,it just fits!!!!

-he's very good at just kind of. dealing with whatever it is that you kinda throw at him. if you randomly decide you wanna try and take up all the space on his bed (good luck, its fucking Big) that's ok, he'll just lay down next to you somehow. if you decide you wanna lay on him then whoops!! he's stuck there till you get up now lol. (the amount of times deimos and sanford come back from missions and just see him sitting on the couch with you laying on his lap is uncountable,,,each time he just makes a gesture for them to be quiet so they dont wake you)

-VERY gentle w/ you, especially after becoming a mag. he always pets you very carefully with his more normal hand because he's scared of hurting you (there was one time he'd accidentally nicked you a little with his claws and he felt SO bad, kept fussing and asking if you were alright afterwards)

-you both purr!! his is a little louder than yours naturally but he kind of. tries to force it to be quieter because he wants to hear you :[ you kind of. get him into the habit of not doing that so instead he just lays his head on your chest or stomach so he can hear / feel it

-he can pick you up so easily its really funny. exactly ONE time on a mission where you were about to get hit from behind while dealing with another grunt and he just like??? SWEPT you up off the ground and wrecked their shit. the entire time you're just kind of there like 🧍

Sanford

-I'm so serious about this one dont even TALK to me. bnnuy.

-HE JUST THINKS UR CUTE!!!!,,,,ur a lot smaller in comparison to him (dont even get him started on how you look standing next to hank or any mag agents) and it makes him go :] ,,, on that note 9/10 he's carrying you around, he just likes picking you up and holding you since it's real easy and its a way of keeping you close to him (also he likes showing off his strength to you a little bit but shhh)

-rip to you though because you've got more sensitive hearing and. if you've heard his voice lines. then you know. this man. isn't always the quietest. BUT as soon as he noticed how you kinda flinch whenever he's yelling something on a mission or to one of the others then he apologizes a bunch and does his best to keep it to a minimum around you,,

-deimos is a menace and he would try and get san to confess to you a bunch'a times and it would usually just end in him trying to like. cover your ears or something so he can tell deimos to stfu. it barely works but its funny as fuck to see your confused expression and sans flustred one to dei

-all in all he just thinks you're really cute and kind of funny...sometimes you just kind of. sit down next to him and kind of stare because you want him to pet you lmao. on that same note at some point you just kinda. got into the habit of coming to his room to lay down with / around him and he just <:']

Sheriff

-AS MUCH AS I LOVE CATPERSON + SHERIFF,,,fox,,,,,,,,

-You're incredibly sly and fast, directly complimenting his more flighty nature. he is a coward who avoids danger and you ARE said danger, u are fucking deranged <3. at first he kinda thought of you as an enemy because you kept swooping in and saving him but the entire time you kind of. dragged him around like a ragdoll SJFFDJWCDS,,,you're running off as you pull him by the hand to follow you and you like. looked over your shoulder and gave this fanged smile back at him and he just . his brain fucing exploded you killed him. he didn't stop thinking abt it for like 3 days.

-anyways. you run circles around him its crazy, you two playfight and roughouse a lot. however he did have to ban you from biting too hard because you accidentally drew blood one time,,,,,u were apologetic and you kept checking the wound to make sure it was ok and that he was doing alright,,he wont admit it but he thought it was funny to see you all worried abt him, teases you about it but you just bare your fangs (jokingly) and threaten to do it again. he just gets flustered and rolls his eyes with a little scoff.

-you make a lot of like. squeaks and yips when you're excited or otherwise kinda worked up and he thinks they're real funny. he tries to imitate them but he ends up failing and 10/10 you hear his voice crack BUT he still considers it a win when it makes you laugh so :)

-admittedly he does poke and prod a lot lmao. he likes to trace your paws and to kinda. brush against your claws a little because he thinks they're really cool. also again this mans fucking weird, he's stuck his hand in your mouth before because he wanted to fuck w/ ur sharp teeth again. you bit him. he does not do this anymore.

-he just!!! thinsk you're neat :) he really likes how sweet you can be and also still be evil and fucked up if you so please. you cause problems on purpose and he has to get you out of trouble lmao, SO...most times you just kinda stick around him (unless u have ur own work to do) and watch what he does. sometimes he'll have you help him out with certain things, eventually you kind of just. start picking up knowledge abt this and the first time you say something before he almost messes up on something he's just kinda 'oh yeah ur right....HEY WAIT YOU REMEMBERED-' he doesn't know WHY but it just makes him happy

-it is. admittedly. a little nerve wracking. to be nonhuman. in a lab that sometimes experiments on people. and nonhuman people. for some kind of obvious reasons. so he gets a little nervous about that sometimes. he does his best to kind of keep you out of serious trouble bc of that, keeps you away from phobos or any of his higher ups like him as much as he possibly can because he's scared of what they might do to you :[

-ON A MORE LIGHT HEARTED NOTE,,,u two stay up pretty late at the lab a lot. you just kinda help him out and you both get carried away. it's not an uncommon sight to any night guards or janitors to see you both talking in the dark with only like. a kinda dim lamp on as you both work. its like 1/4 you actually getting things done and 3/4s you two just talking about whatever comes into mind, he shows his more casual and laid-back nature in these moments especially. also not uncommon for people to see you both passed out in his lab curled up against eachother lol

-pets you absentmindedly a lot,,he isn't sure why he does it he just!! does!! he just kinda subconsciously reaches for you (sometimes you have to kinda. put your head under his hand for him which he appreciates). also likes messing with ur paws and claws a little, he's a lot more careful though since he's nicked himself on your nails before

im rewatching jatp instead of studying for the 3 tests i have tomorrow and i thought i would share my thoughts and reactions with each episode so enjoy!!....

wake up

- hearing the “1, 2, 3″ at the start of the episode gives me more serotonin than my antidepressants ever will

- julie’s slippers...that’s it...that’s the thought

- that dry ass pasta the molina’s are eating for dinner??? someone needs to give my man ray some cooking tips or a cookbook... something

-the looks the boys give julie when she says it was an OLD cd she found. as if they could be old??

-the entire julie and luke kitchen scene i mean there are no words to describe how much i am in love with scene. the banter, the flirting, luke giving this girl he literally just met an actual PIECE OF HIS SOUL so she can get music back into her life. not a single time have i watched that scene and not felt my heart literally grow cause of how cute they are.

-the entire scene when julie is singing wake up. that scene is what made me literally CRAVE watching the other episodes. like of course i was going to watch them cause i wasn’t gonna just stop watching a show after one episode, and yes the show was good already but seeing the lighting and her voice, and just everything about the scene,,,,*chef’s kiss*

I imagine that Lance was definitely a meme lord back on earth, I also imagine that’s how you two became friends. You were doing it to ‘em (’em being Hunk) and Lance immediately joined in. From then on, it was just set in stone. You both fucked around all the time, teased Pidge about her height, and yeah, you guessed it, snuck out at night with each other.

You told Lance a lot of things you didn’t tell anyone else because albeit you being a loner, you trusted him. He was the first person you had come out to, about both your gender and sexuality. Lance had never really seemed like the guy to be super caring and you were slightly scared, but when he hugged you and told you it didn’t change anything, that’s when you truly fell.

Fast forward a little and now everyone is on the castle of lions and things are back to being semi-normal. I say that because honestly how normal can things really be when you’re staying on a ship with aliens and flying sentient mechanical lions. Lance being the person he was, continuously helped you with whatever he could. Whether it be something as big as your dysphoria or something as small as finding your glasses, he was always there for you.

He was also obsessed with your singing. He would force you to sing duets with him and even though you told him you hated it you actually loved it. When everyone is out flying and training, you decide to stay behind and draw, and your favorite subject is, can you guess? Yeah, it’s Lance. And honestly, I’m just gonna say it. Y’all are perfect for each other.

“(Y/n), what are you drawing?” Lance asked, leaning over your shoulder and trying to get a glimpse of your sketchpad. Your hands began to sweat as you quickly changed the page, not wanting him to see that you were drawing him.

“Nothing,” You replied quickly.

“Oh come on, I saw you turn the page, I’m not that dumb. Just show me!” He pleaded, walking in front of you.

“No Lance, it’s really nothing important.” You said nervously.

“Oh yeah? If it’s really nothing then why don’t you just show me?” He asked. You sighed before shaking your head.

“Because I don’t want to.” You said. Lance frowned and let his shoulders drop before walking away. You sighed in relief. It was foolish to think that Lance would give up that easily though. When you let your guard down, Lance quickly snatched your sketchbook out of your hands. You stood up quickly, reaching out to grab it from him.

“Come on Lance, it’s not funny! Give it back!” You shouted. Lance shook his head and opened to a random page, keeping the book out of your reach. The page was a picture of him, just a simple drawing of his face.

“Woah, (Y/n), when did you draw this?” He asked, continuing to flip. Now you were trying even more desperately to get it back, knowing exactly what picture was coming up.

“Lance, please!” But it was already too late. He had flipped to the picture. He had seen it.

“Is that… Us?” He asked. You let your arms fall to your sides before sighing.

“Listen, I-”

“The proportions are off.” He interrupted. You paused.

“Excuse me?” You asked. He pointed to the drawing.

“The proportions. They’re off. Here, I think I can help.” He replied. Before you could ask, he handed you the book and began rummaging around Pidge’s desk. He grabbed something and began to set something else up. After a few minutes, he clicked a button and walked back to you. He grabbed the book in your hands and set it down.

“Lance, what are you…”

“3…”

“Why are you…”

“2…”

“I don’t think I…”

“1…”

And as the last number left his mouth, he kissed you. His hands were on your cheeks and his lips were as soft as fresh blankets out of a dryer. There was a bright flash and even though you wanted to stay there forever, he pulled away. You stood there, stunned as he walked to the device he set up. When he walked back, he handed you a photo. It was of you and him kissing.

“There, that should help you with the proportions.” He said. You wanted to say something but you were speechless as he began walking away.

“Lance… You can’t just…”

“Can and did. I’ll be by yours tomorrow at around 7, date, be ready.” He yelled, walking out of the door.

Richie Tozier!

Richie was the King of humor. No matter what anyone said, whether it be something about a car or something about dinosaurs, he always had something up his sleeve to make it a joke. This was both a plus and a minus. Jokes when you’re feeling down or dysphoric to make you feel better but also jokes when you were trying to talk to him about something serious.

Eddie got teased by Richie for being smaller than him, and you got teased for being taller than him. You were proud of your height but damn did Richie’s jokes get on your nerves. Not even because they were offensive, just purely for the reason that he made them so frequently.

A lot of people said you two looked like you could be twins. From the glasses to the pale skin to the mouth of a sailor you shared. You could see why, but that didn’t make it any less uncomfortable. Saying that you could be the twin of your crush? Idk that would rub anyone the wrong way.

You and Richie ditched classes together, and that was one of your favorite things to do with him. It was peaceful, in a way. Just Richie and (Y/n). No one else. Sure, Richie was loud and obnoxious and used ‘your mom’ jokes way too much, but at the end of the day, that’s why you loved him. He was unapologetically him.

“Cigarette?” Richie asked, offering you the box. You rolled your eyes.

“Come on Rich, you know I don’t smoke.” You replied. He shrugged before putting them away and pulling a lighter out of his back pocket. After taking a second to light the end and take a drag, he sighed.

“I’ve been meaning to talk to you.” He said. You glanced at him and raised your eyebrows.

“About…?” You asked. He sighed again, staring at the embers that fell of the cigarette.

“I… I don’t know honestly.” He replied. You frowned before looking forward.

“Whatever it is… You can tell me,” You whispered. Richie took a long drag before blowing the smoke out and dropping the cigarette. After he smashed it with the toe of his boot, he stuck his hands in his pocket.

“I guess… It’s about you.” He mumbled. You looked at him, now more confused then you were before.

“Me?” You asked. Richie moved his eyes so he was staring at the sky.

“Yeah. I think… I know… I like you… As more than a friend.” He said. You stared at him in disbelief. Richie had never shown any sign of liking you. Hell, he didn’t even show any sign of liking guys. Yet, here he was, admitting his feeling for you, and here you were, liking him back but not able to find the words to say it.

“I… I like you too.” You replied simply. Richie turned to you, his eyes extra wide under the thick lenses of his glasses.

“Really?” He asked. You laughed quietly.

“Yeah.”

Richie’s mouth formed the shit-eating grin he always had painted on his face, but this time it was different. This time, for some reason, it felt even more genuine.

“Boyfriends?” He asked, holding out his hand. You glanced down at it with a small blush on your cheeks.

“Boyfriends.” You confirmed, slipping your hand into his.

even tho richie has been basically living at the kaspbrak house for the past 12 months, it’s their ACTUAL own house now

then there’s obvs the wolf tattoo and the heart on his chest and even a lil ice cream cone on his ankle. (*cough* 4th of july parade when eddie bought them ice cream *cough*)

eddie can’t handle all the hotness that richie is bc now he’s seeing him literally every day

and so Mingyu kind of sneaks away from the other guys and goes home, only to see you at the dining table, staring intensely at the laptop in front of you

“babe, what are you doing?” he’s gonna be kinda confused lol, just because you look as if you’re trying to burn a hole in the screen with your eyeballs

“I'm trying to learn how to speak properly.”

Mingyu lets out a loud chuckle and gives you a big back hug, resting his chin on the top of your head

“even tHOUGH YOU SHOULD BE RESTING, I'll help you, jagiya. as soon as you finish studying, tho, you’re taking a nap, and I won’t leave until you do”

while Wonwoo is away with the rest of SVT during One Fine Day filming in Japan, he video calls you when you’re trying to leARN HOW TO PRONOUNCE THIS FRICKING DIFFICULT SENTENCE

as soon as you tell him that you’re struggling, he offers to help and you smile this huge ass grin b/c your boyfriend is just so soft

for a second your fried brain almost wonders why he’s up so late before you remember that there’s no time difference between Korea and Japan and Wonwoo notices the look on your face and just

“What’s wrong? You looked really confused, jagi.”

“I thought there was a time difference between Korea and Japan...”

he stares right at the camera before bursting into laughter, with which you join in :’)

so anyway

after filming a variety show (ha peep the gif that I used), he comes home to see you curled up in bed (in one of his sweatshirts) clutching a notebook

for a second he thinks that it’s his lyric book and raises an eyebrow before leaning down to check on you

only to see that it’s your own notebook that you use when you’re trying to learn Korean

he smiles fondly and shakes his head (peep the gif pt 2) before lying down next to you, kissing your neck gently and wrapping his arms around your waist

you wake up and curse inwardly, figuring that you had fallen asleep while struggling with Korean, and jump when you realize that someone’s in bed with you

but it’s just your boyfriend and so you smile before falling asleep again, curled comfortably in Vernon’s arms
