You suggest things like darling, honey, sweetie, beloved and all those affectionate pet names lovers share (which the two of you are most definitely not… Yet. Argh! Focus!), and he says yes to every single one of them because he’s a fool digging his own grave; but the most damning one of them all, the one that nearly sends him reeling, fevers his face profusely to the point of dizziness, and makes him want to choke you just to get you to shut up and stop teasing him (because that’s all this is to you, isn’t it? Some game to toy with him!), the last of your exhaustive list is: my heart.

All the thoughts in his head stop like waves crashing against rock.

Your grin, which he previously thought malicious, over the course of the conversation, has become a small, fond smile.

“Is that alright?” you ask. You lean in close and whisper into his ear, “My dear heart.”

Of course, he silently agrees, anything for you. Anything for you. And then he shoves you off him and stalks away. He half-remembered the presence of Paimon and Lesser Lord Kusanali but he can feel their eyes boring into his back all the more now. You were too close for comfort just then. If he had let you linger in his space any longer, he might have… might have… 

How embarrassing.

You’re foolish to ignore the signs—or perhaps you’re pretending not to notice for his sake? What with his newfound freedom and autonomy—of what magnitude a scale his feelings for you are.

Ian’s teeth sink into the skin above your heart, threatening to sever the misspelled letters of his name. 

It’s painful, you’ll admit that much, but it will never even come close to how it felt to break that tender flesh the first time; when you repeatedly needled your delusional devotion until your outsides dripped what your insides screamed.

Ian’s tongue swipes across the first wedding ring you ever wore, a ragged exhale giving away just how much he craves and needs this too.

“I love you, Mickey,” he promises.

You say it back, but the evidence is already overwhelmingly clear.

One day I will sit down and actually watch all of the Star Wars movies.

Smth im really proud of is Jet's general like. Subconscious need to be Taken Care Of and Protected if that makes sense. Like he's this big guy who always looks after the others bc he's the oldest and had younger siblings prior to meeting the 'Joys and motorbaby [keyword: had] and so the others consider him like this grounding force- big mature quiet jet will always take care of us etc etc

The thing is POISON wants to take care of Jet. [In multiple ways]. They see this softness that jet has, his gentleness, this vulnerability that he shows in very private, tender moments, and it makes them want to like. I wouldn't say protect him? They want to be the person jet can be vulnerable around- they want to make him feel safe the way he makes them feel safe.

Which is fun bc it feeds REALLY well into one of the things jet goes thru in the au- finding out that he's queer. See i have this idea that while the zones isnt as homophobic as say- batt city would be, there's still this like. Silent stigma, if that makes sense. That and the fact that his life thus far has been a large collection of traumatizing moments means that jet never really had a chance to do the whole Self Discovery thing [he's been in love with poison for years tho. He just has no idea]. So he's starting to hesitantly sort thru his thoughts and feelings and such. Meanwhile Poison knows that jet's never had any relationship w/another guy so they're like "baby i could be ur first let's make out sloppy style in the back of the am and also id like to make tender love to you". Obviously bc it's Poison they dont actually say that and instead try to convey it thru Glances and Touches.

Im also fond of the idea that Poison's fucking obsessed w/jet's tattoos theyre like oh my GOD please let me touch. Taste. Whatever id like to come into physical contact with the ink on your skin.
