There's a town near a forest.
The forest is old. The sort of place you'd expect to find ancient magic, concealed for generations.
It's the sort of place where you'd expect loads of local lore about magical happenings; but most people haven't seen anything real, and those who do tend to keep it to themselves, and no one quite believes any of it.
It's hard to predict when and where a portal might open up; sometimes, things go through them.
Generally, things come out; things with too many eyes, whose strange skulls that turn up in an antiques shop decades later.
But the portals go two ways. When an unusually stable one forms, it was only a matter of time before a curious kid ended up somewhere she shouldn't.
What's on the other side?
Oh, you know. What you'd expect. A fantasy realm.
She's not the only human there, though. She doesn't know it. Neither of them do.

I finished Vixen's webtoon a couple days ago and I think my order of preference would be:
Vixen: NYC. I really enjoyed it. I support every choice made but especially this and this. The characters are great. A++.
Zatanna & the Ripper. If I'd read them the other way around the order might be swapped - it's really really close. And Zatanna is simply amazing in it.
Red Hood: Outlaws. I hesitated here because this one got really aggravating at times and it REALLY disappointed me half-way through when it failed to follow up on [redacted]. BUT I loved [redacted] so, so much. It was the most interesting thing to happen in all four webtoons. And I liked the team's dynamics, Jaytemis, and that cliffhanger of an ending lol.
Batman: Wayne Family Adventures. The parts of it I like, I like them a lot. And I will admit that the write Jason is written here is something of a balm lmao, even if it's not exactly my preferred characterisation. But I'm a tragedy enjoyer first, and slice-of-life content tends to leave me vaguely amused at best, and frustrated by the lack of follow-through at worst. Still read every issue though, that's how immersed I am in this fandom rn xD

FLOAT
I’ve been a manga fan ever since, and manhwas have overtaken my life lately. It’s been a looooong while since I’ve binged an OEL comic.
So I found this comic through a banner in LINE Webtoon saying that this comic got a live-action adaptation and got intrigued. I didn’t check out the movie since live action adaptations do have bad rep and I’m not a movie person myself. Usually, when a novel (yup, the original work is a novel, it seems) is adapted, the novel must be good, right? RIGHT?
Well, this comic was a pleasant surprise. The first few chapters were hard to get through but not in a bad way. The main character Waverly hits too close to home by saying the most unnecessary or inappropriate stuff out of nervousness. I needed to take cringe breaks every time she throws out social suicide bombs and brace myself for the reactions of her peers.
Nonetheless, the cringe is what I found endearing as well as how her newfound friends take her quirks in a stride and how she learns to express herself better.
There is one plotline where they brushed off cheating easily, but the latest chapters will seem to give spotlight to this character, so we might get a more nuanced take.
Nonetheless, it would be another Webtoon comic I’ll look forward to every week!
