oh man. this is extremely disappointing, to put it lightly. i never really kept up with the workings of rusty quill itself, so i apologize now to anyone who got into the magnus archives because of me and decided to support rusty quill financially as a result when it appears that at the very least they've been very incompetent with how they manage their company and treated their staff unacceptably. if i'd been aware of this, i would have tried to make people aware of what they were potentially getting into. i'll definitely have to think hard about whether i want to engage with the planned magnus protocol sequel at all (even through piracy or something), let alone talk about it on my blog :/
i'm going to link the article here since the link you gave me in the ask didn't work for me. i recommend reading the whole thing to anyone who decides to check it out, and paying attention to the author's requests not to harass or 'cancel' rusty quill for their actions, but hold them accountable and be aware of their flaws.

nope! Inprint weirds me out a little with how u need to apply n they evaluate if ur good enough??? Alao theyre usa based and very pricey, which is horrible for europeans and honestly anyone outside the usa.
I'd looooove to sell prints but the legal situation im in rn has me having to think very carefully abt how i earn money or else my benefits are revoked.
Tho i can already say, once i finally figure out how to legally sell goods.... id primarily sell prints as a digital file u can print out yourself. Printing a poster yourself in a local print shop not only saves shipping costs, it saves the environment and also supports a local business. AND IT COSTS NOTHING. ITS CHEAP. for me its 1.60€ for an A3 poster in full color on good quality paper. The same thing on inprint costs an arm and a leg......

Cost of housing is bonkers and so is Indiana. If I didn't have two roommates to share rent with on my meager SSI (which is the full amount a single person can get and it's still a pittance), I would have had to move out of Indiana and back to Small Dead Factory Town, Indiana and rent my grandmother's whole house from my father for actually much more cheaper than a studio in Baltimore, and Baltimore is (or was, not sure now in the last few years) was one of the cheapest major cities in America. And even ignoring the fact that my father would be the landlord, it wouldn't have even been favoritism keeping rent low, it was around the same price as renting a whole ass house from anyone else in the town.
BUT Indiana is more violent to people like me (disabled, queer, on welfare. If I were Black or another person of color it would be even moreso, the vastly majority white and universally conservative town had an active Klan chapter until just a few years ago) than even Baltimore's violent reputation. While I was still living there pence stripped me of my life saving Medicaid. And one of the few openly queer people there was literally chased out of town and had to flee to another state after receiving multiple credible death threats for trying to organize a Pride event in June, by a group calling themselves "Whitewater Valley Groomer Removers", so like. Even ignoring the fact that I was miserable the entire four years I was living in that town (I grew up in a larger town, small city, but we moved to Dying Factory Town to be closer to my widowed grandmother), it would have been terrifyingly unsafe for a multitude of reasons

Today I:
-made it up to campus for scanning even though I extremely did not want to
-took a spontaneous tea break with H&Al which was delightful
-had a call with someone about a potential artifact handling contract gig for a tight 2 week installation in late April and I hope it works out bc it would make me a lot of money in that short period of time which would be amazing
-picked up my meds. they took a while to be filled by the pharmacy this week which had been making me anxious so I am relieved to have them
-caught up with one of my cousins over text. he's in the middle stages of writing a musicology dissertation and it was good to hear how he's doing and share what's up with me after finishing
-did 20 min of yoga and felt stronger and lasted longer in the stretches of downward dog than I did yesterday

After nearly 10 years, im upgrading my phone, and it’s bumming me out because I realized I have to update the tumblr app. Nooooo.
#i still don’t have polls on my phone because I haven’t updated to get around some tumblr stupidity#i always use to wait forever to update so all the other users would like set off the spring traps of app update nonsense for me#my sibling was so annoyed by my old phone not working that together with my parent they pooled together the finances to get me one lmao#i can’t take pictures or videos if my phone is unplugged. and I can’t use it for anything other than checking the time if its less than 70%#and messages crashes my phone about half the times I try to open it#other than that it worked great!

So. Mum's making them do her hip surgery on Wed. Getting admitted to hospital tomorrow.
They've told her she should be okay for surgery if she just spends eight weeks on bedrest using bedpans. We can hire an at-home attendant for her. But she refuses.
Strong chance she might not survive. Might survive and spend weeks in the ICU and die. Might have a stroke and survive but live the rest of her life as a paraplegic.
I've transcended frustration to somewhere between paralyzing anxiety and resignation. I don't know whether I'm anxious she'll survive or that she'll die. All I know for sure is that she's not gonna die without causing the maximum possible stress and hardship to everyone involved. And the paperwork is going to be a goddamn mess.
