Rousseau, mostly known as 'Roo', is my Farmer/OC for the game Stardew Valley + Expanded. Alesia is an (as of now, non-friendable) NPC from the mod, 'Expanded'! I have not yet drawn Roo nor Alesia often, but we have a gist starting story of the two and how they were separated because I am feeling melancholy so I love a good angst of my boy, Roo! :)
⚠ Yes, this is an OC x Canon, so please leave/scroll away if this is not what you like. Thank you.

Roo met Alesia long before she moved away from the valley, and the two have been training buddies since then. Roo had been secretly in love with Alesia for a long time, but he never dared to confess his feelings to her.
Finally, the day had come when he decided to take the plunge and confess everything. He wrote a beautiful love letter and arranged to meet her to express his feelings at where the two would usually hang out with each other; their secret spot...
However, as fate would have it, Alesia had some exciting news of her own to share with Roo on the same day. She had been accepted into Castle Village as a resident, which was a dream come true for her especially now that she had always felt out of place in the valley and longed for a place she could call home, and she had already told Roo about this. Although Roo was happy for her, he couldn't help but feel a little heartbroken at the same time. He had always hoped that Alesia would stay with him, but seeing her so happy to live in Castle Village, he could never ask her to stay for his sake. Roo nodded and smiled, congratulating Alesia on her success and acceptance, dismissing his true intention when Alesia, in return, asked him what was his part of their exchanged news with his usual "I forgot" and a smile.
“The love letter he had written for her remained unopened and unread. Roo took it back with him, and it remained a bittersweet reminder of the love he had for Alesia, which he could never express.”
[ END... ]

I like hurting Roo's feelings for some reason... out of all of my OCs, he's the one I enjoy hurting the most, mentally. It shows his character and how strong he is as he grows despite his true feeling hidden underneath that smile of his. The burden he carries... Man, I love him.
When I'm feeling melancholic, I think of Roo... His story is mostly about 'isolation and abandonment', haha.

Joel Miller Masterlist
Tumblr media
You struggle against the binds at your wrists, your curses and cries lost in the vast openness of the farm while you watch him stride over to you, his hands on his hips as his eyes sweep down your body and flash with heat before he murmurs, “I’d untie you if you didn’t try to run every god damn time, think you’re ready to be good for me darlin’?”
You sag against the wooden pole of the small stable and hang your head with a nod, your body deflating even more when he releases you from the binds and you find yourself weak and falling into his arms.
“There now,” he whispers, taking your chin between his fingers and lifting your eyes to his, “I knew you could do it.”
Your menacing glare is met with a smirk as he backs you toward the wall, hay catching in your shoes and the smell of horse surrounding you, your body hitting the wood before he crowds you against it, the hardness between his legs pressing into your stomach.
With a gasp of his name you grab his broad shoulders, unable to hide the way your body succumbs to the simple fact that he’s touching you, and you swallow hard, licking your lips.
“Promise me, darlin’,” he drawls, “promise me you’ll do as I say and you won’t try and run anymore, you know I’ll keep you safe.”
His lips skim the shell of your ear, more of a whispered warning than anything else, and you cling to him, your breathing heavy as he places a kiss just underneath your ear before his mouth trails softly down the column of your neck.
“Lemme hear you say it,” he growls as his large and calloused fingers trace your collarbone, sliding higher until they close around the base of your throat and he pulls back to look into your eyes.
“I promise,” you choke out, your nails digging into his back.
“Repeat it,” he whispers against your lips, his fingers putting more pressure on your neck.
“I promise,” you say again, whimpering when he shoves one thick thigh between your legs and his fingers squeeze even harder, “I won’t run and I’ll do as you say.”
“There’s a good girl,” he croons then abruptly removes his thigh and replaces it with his free hand, making you clench around nothingness.
His fingers tease along the edge of your pants, his motions unhurried when he slides them lower and purrs, “you look so good with my hand wrapped around your throat.”
“Joel,” you find yourself pleading when his fingers brush over your panties, the material soaked and stuck to your skin.
He hums appreciatively, his words warm against your lips and his tone smug when he whispers, “fuck’ darlin,’ I knew you’d be easy to break but this is too good to be true.”

Went walkabout today with my morning coffee. There's an old saying, "The best fertilizer is the farmer's footstep." Straightened the mulch in the veggie garden where someone--probably a stray chicken--had thrown the grass clippings from the path onto the spinach plants. Replaced the strawberry plant that something dug up overnight. I started by counting. "One, two, three--why is there a gap?" Looked around, and sure enough, there was a plant a few feet away.
Waited too long to protect the trees in the orchard, and now a lot of new leaves and growing tips have been chewed off by deer. I'm trying not to dwell on how much that sucks, because I can't undo it. The trees will recover eventually, and meanwhile I've really got to get the fence rings made and placed.
On the flip-side, though I had thought last year's drought killed every bit of my considerable investment in pond plants, looks like I have one surviving blue flag iris
Tumblr media
I promise.
Tumblr media
These might be soft stem bulrushes. I can't tell because they haven't set seed and I can't find any photos from that part of the life cycle. I'm just hoping, because none of the grass otherwise will grow submerged like that.
And there was a little red squiggle that could just possibly be an Arrow Arum. Maybe. Fingers crossed. I really can't afford to just throw plants in there year after year with no result.
Gave Kratos the ram some grain. Tried to make sure Mimir the wether got some but he wasn't willing to brave Kratos' greed by coming to me. They both need to be caught so that I can roo Kratos, shear Mimir (who for some reason doesn't roo), and trim their hooves. Another pressing item on the to do list.
Finally found a spot for the sunchokes where they'll be against a structure on one side and mowed on the other side. They can spread along the entire south side of the storage container as far as I'm concerned. I'll get them in later, somehow in between everything else.
And then when I came around the front of the house, I discovered a bunch of sweet woodruff under the chickweed, and spent a few minutes sitting in the grass with my coffee and carefully detangled fragile weeds from fragile herbs. Found out that a single stem of Solomon's Seal survived the chickens last year, so I'll put my remaining stash of roots there today.

Why Nobody Works for the Fenton's
You can also read this on A03, Fanfic.net, and on Wattpad
“Think fast! What is the frequency that can disrupt a ghost's physical form?” Mrs. Fenton gleefully asked.
“Um… 150 decibels?” Valerie hugged the clipboard to her chest, surprised by the smile Mrs. Fenton had.
“No, but a good guess. It’s actually much higher than that! The high noise affects the ectoplasmic cells, and causes them to vibrate, losing their connections and bonds to one another, resulting in a ghost losing their physical form and turning into a mass of ectoplasmic goo.”
“You have a weapon that can do that?” Valerie asked.
“Well, no. This is only theory, as a weapon that could do that would cause serious hearing damage to anyone holding the weapon. And since the local farmers won’t give us permission to test on their land anymore, we haven’t had the right environment to test it,”
“Why won’t the local farmers let you test on their lands anymore?”
“Because they are cowards who can’t see what progress we are doing!” Jack yelled from the back of the lab. He was covered in thick cables that spired around his arms and legs. Each one looked to be over a hundred pounds, but the man carried them with ease.
“We accidentally covered one of their fields with experimental ectoplasm,” Maddie whispered into Valerie’s ear. “The corn outside of Amity Park is now considered ‘toxic’.” She put air quoted around toxic.
“Valerie!” Jack turned his body, the cables dragging against the metal floor. “If any son of a gun from the EPA calls or arrives at the door, tell him to eat grass! The Fenton’s don’t answer to the government!” Valerie sucked her breath. She didn’t want to say anything that would offend the Fentons, especially since they were kind enough to give her a paid internship.
Casper High required that all of its students do a two-week internship in order to graduate. Most students do it in their senior year and help out one of the local businesses. She would’ve asked her Dad for an internship at his place, but then Phantom showed up. Her second choice was city hall. Dash, Kwan, and the rest of the football team got internships with city hall a year ago, but then Phantom held the old Mayor hostage, and the internship program was cut to pay for more security.  But that was fine. Nobody wanted to intern with the Fentons, the crazed duo had scared off anyone who would be willing to work with them. Everyone but Valerie, who needed them for one reason and one reason alone.  Information on ghosts!
Also, she needed money after ghost hunting cost her the Nasty Burger job, and the Fentons were one of the few places that even offered paid internships.
“So, um Mr. and Mrs. Fenton, what will I be doing here?”
“Great question Valerie! You will uhhhh, Honey what will she be doing?” Jack stuck his bottom lip out, his face was frozen as if he forgot what he was going to say.
“You will be helping us keep the lab clean, change the ghost portal filter, answer any email or call that comes in, keeping stock of inventions and weapons, and helping us out in experiments.” Valerie nodded along, a lot of her tasks sounded very boring and typical; the last two options made her eyes light up.
“And if you’re good at all that, we might even hire you as our assistant!”
“Jack, we haven’t fully discussed that yet.”
“Oh come on Maddie! Look at her, I bet she will be amazing!”
Valerie stood there and smiled, if she could make this her new job, she would have access to all the weapons she would need, maybe they could teach her how to make the weapons, and she could make them at home. Valerie could already see Phantom’s face when she opened hell on earth with the stockpiles these two had.
Her first day was spent walking through the lab and command center, her brain overloaded with what every button, gun, and icon did. At the end Valerie was sure these fools were secretly loaded, how else did they get their hands on all this material, and guns, and chemicals. Maddie had a secret room in the downstairs lab, locked to prevent her kids (aka DANNY) from pouring acid on themselves, full of every kind of poison, acid, and chemical imaginable.
“Your first task tomorrow is to organize all of these. Don’t worry, we have a spare hazmat suit in the bunker,” Maddie said.
“You have a bunker?” said Valerie.
“Yes, in case anyone attacks or the Russians finally nuke us. I’ll show you that later, I don’t want to give you too much information today.” Maddie chuckled as if it was all a joke. She continued explaining what each chemical did and where it had to go, but Valerie's eyes traveled to the back of the hidden room.
“Mrs. Fenton, what is that?”
“That is a live ghost we keep here in the lab. We use it to harvest ectoplasms and our experiments. Don’t worry it can’t feel anything we do to it, I lobotomized it years ago,” again she said it with a chuckle and a smile. The ghost had pale green skin and even paler hair, dark circles outlined his eyes like wastelands outside a drained oasis. “We found it outside a natural portal back in 1992 right before it closed. He put up quite a fight, but nothing compares to my Jack, and a fully loaded gun,” Maddie walked over and tapped the glass. “Jack and I joke that he is the hardest worker in our lab. Aren't you Harold?” Harold floated in the green liquid, his legs dissolving into nothing more than a pile of goo. “We usually keep a tarp over him when we don’t have to use him. I wonder who moved it. Oh! I found it!” She grabbed the black tarp and swung it over the tank, as the dark shroud covered Harold’s helpless features, Valerie thought she saw his hand move.

Message from the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador on the 85th anniversary of the expropriation of the country’s oil industry.
Rally held on Saturday, March 18, in Mexico City’s Zócalo square.
PRESIDENT ANDRÉS MANUEL LÓPEZ OBRADOR: Friends:
This is a commemoration of the expropriation of the oil industry and it is a national event. Participating here today are residents of Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Jalisco, Chiapas, Chiapas, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yucatán, and Zacatecas.
 Long live Mexico!
 Friends:
Unlike Francisco I. Madero, who, in order to realize his beautiful democratic ideal could not or did not consider it indispensable to strengthen his ties with the people, especially with the Zapatista peasants, General Lázaro Cárdenas did not hesitate to rely on those from below to make his transformation a reality.
The general's strategy can be summarized in three important and consecutive actions:
First, he distributed land to the peasant farmers and helped the workers.
 Then, he helped them organize.
And, finally, with this social base he was able to carry out the expropriation of the oil industry and other national assets that Porfirio Díaz had handed over to private interests, mainly foreigners.
The top priority of the Cardenista strategy was to attend to the economic and social demands of peasant farmers and workers. The president knew that the only way to gain the backing of the people was to act decisively in favor of their demands. Consequently, from the beginning of his government, a program of land distribution was launched; the peasant farmers mobilized throughout the country requesting that they be given land through the expropriation of large estates or providing them with deeds for state land.
In a short time, the distribution of land to peasant farmers transformed the structure of Mexican agriculture. The revolutionary importance of the Cardenista land distribution policies can be measured with a key piece of data. In the first three years of his administration, 9,764,000 hectares were given to 565,216 peasants, which vastly surpassed the amount of land that had been distributed since the Revolution.
By the end of Cardenas’ administration, 10,651 ejidos (1) had been established, comprising a total of more than 18 million hectares and benefiting more than one million indigenous families, impoverished peasant farmers, and rural day laborers.
The peasants unquestionably saw Cárdenas to be a faithful representative of the revolutionary cause. The agrarian reform ensured the loyalty of many people to the Cardenista government and from that point the alliance between peasant farmers and the State was established.
At the same time, during the Cárdenas years, workers felt that their labor rights were guaranteed. With strict adherence to the law, Cárdenas respected the economic struggle of workers for better wages and working conditions. His measures in this field consisted of making the formal content of Constitutional Article 123 (2) a reality.
From the beginning of his government, the labor movement began engaging in intense activity aimed at winning its demands; it was even able to freely exercise the right to strike.
By the middle of the president’s six-year term in office, peasant farmers and workers identified Cárdenas as the defender of their interests. The first part of Cardenas' strategy had been successful; the President's approach and solidarity with the most vulnerable social groups resulted in the support and adhesion of the majority to the government's policies.
The political organization of workers and peasant farmers as a second link in the Cardenista strategy also developed with intensity and enthusiasm.
First, most of the national industrial unions were established. The Mexican Workers’ Confederation, the CTM, was founded on February 24, 1936. Although the organization's declaration of principles stated, and I quote, that 'the Mexican proletariat will fundamentally fight for the total abolition of the capitalist system,' its leaders accepted the president's proposal and agreed on the need to first achieve the country’s political and economic liberation. In accordance with these principles, the workers' movement resolutely supported the government in its struggle for national sovereignty.
On July 9, 1935, President Cárdenas recommended that the organization of Mexico's peasant farmers take place. With this in mind, the agrarian community leagues were created in all states of the country and their integration with the unions of rural wage earners resulted in the establishment of the National Peasant Confederation, the CNC.
The organization and political mobilization of the masses made it possible to advance in the aim of asserting our country’s economic independence, and thus with the expropriation of the oil companies, national assets and resources that had been in the hands of foreigners since the Porfiriato (3) began to be returned to the nation.
This strategy could not have succeeded without the exceptional qualities of a noble and just man such as General Lázaro Cárdenas del Río.
Politics is not only rationality, but also, like other activities in life, requires mystique and convictions. Political processes are more complex than what rationalist intellectuals assume; political processes also involve factors such as luck, the brilliance of leaders and the sentiments of the people.
General Cárdenas, unlike careerist or elite politicians, professed a sincere and deep love for the people. Just as there is no one with the democratic aspiration of Madero, neither has there ever existed in Mexico a president as close to the downtrodden or as convinced of the cause of social justice as General Cárdenas.
For example, in 1935, when he was already president, already in power, Cárdenas wrote the following in his notes:
'To put an end to the miseries experienced by the people is above all other interests'.
And he maintained: 'Living amid the needs and anguish of the people, one will easily find the way to remedy them'.
Although he also confessed that he had been able to see the true moral background of many public servants. 'When I observe in their faces the disgust sparked by the poor peoples’ demand for assistance or justice, then I think more,' he lamented, 'of the endless tragedy of our own people.’
For young people who want to devote themselves to the noble profession of politics, what is most important is love for the people.
In addition to being a true humanist and possessing other virtues, General Cárdenas knew how to navigate his times with precision. Politics, among other things, is time management, a question that is usually essential and defining.
A few days before announcing the expropriation of the oil industry, he wrote in his notes that, on the highway near Cuernavaca, he’d walked and talked for more than an hour with his teacher, friend and compañero, General Francisco J. Múgica. I’d like to quote General Cárdenas when he says:
'We considered the circumstances that could arise if governments such as those of England and the United States, interested in backing the oil companies, pressured the Mexican government with violent measures. But we also took into account that the threat of a new world war is already present due to the provocations of Nazi-fascist imperialism, and that this would stop them from attacking Mexico in the event that the expropriation was decreed.'
Among other reasons, and taking advantage of this circumstance, on March 18, 1938, the oil industry expropriation was launched. At eight o'clock in the evening, General Cárdenas informed his cabinet of this historic decision and, two hours later, in a radio address to the nation he announced the step taken by the government in defense of Mexico’s sovereignty, returning to the nation the oil wealth that, as the General himself wrote, 'imperialist capital had been utilizing to keep the country humiliated.'
In four articles, the expropriation decree establishes that the following assets would become assets of the nation: machinery, installations and other fixtures and property of the foreign oil companies, for which compensation would be paid in accordance with Article 27 of the Constitution and the corresponding law.
The oil expropriation was supported by the majority of the people. Photos of the time show the presence of predominantly humble people, indigenous men and women, peasant farmers, workers, teachers, employees, and members of the lower middle class.
It was the common people who supported and cooperated with the government to raise the compensation due to the foreign oil companies. How could we forget that so many poor women donated goats and turkeys for this purpose and even got rid of the meager jewelry they owned!
In those days, from the city of Oakland, California, migrant worker Cástulo Prado composed the lyrics and music of the Corrido del Petróleo and sent it to the president with the instruction that the government allocate any royalties from the work to the compensation fund. One of its verses reads as follows:
'Lázaro Cárdenas says, serene and carefree: in the course of 10 years, everything will be paid, I have the Mexican people of which I have no doubt. From the youngest to the oldest, they all offer me their help. In the Mexican woman there is patriotism and pride, she gives up her jewelry to offer them for coins.'
In addition to this massive and overwhelming popular support, the Cárdenas government had another favorable circumstance. At that time Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a great statesman and one of the finest presidents that country has ever had in its history, was governing the United States. Let’s recall that when Roosevelt entered the White House on March 4, 1933, the United States was experiencing one of the worst crises in its history and that, as president, Roosevelt knew how to deal with that crisis successfully and very soon restored hope to his people, which made him one of the greatest politicians of the 20th century.
As for his foreign policy, let’s recall that, in a memorable speech, which is the antecedent of the principles of the UN, on January 6, 1941, Roosevelt laid out four basic freedoms for the world: the right to freedom of speech, the right to freedom of worship, the right to live free from want, and the right to live free from fear.
Roosevelt's presidency applied the ‘good neighbor policy’ with the countries of the Western Hemisphere. At that moment, the principles of economic and political cooperation were defined, the sovereignty of Cuba and Panama was recognized, and the U.S. military withdrawal from Nicaragua and Haiti was ordered. It is not by chance that the great poet Pablo Neruda called Roosevelt a titan of the struggles for freedoms, a tremendous president.
The authenticity of his good neighbor policy was most clearly demonstrated in the respect for the sovereignty of our country. During Roosevelt's three presidential terms, relations between Mexico and the United States were exceptionally good.
In the days following the oil industry expropriation, General Cárdenas acknowledged Roosevelt’s role in a letter:
'My government’ -wrote the general- ‘feels that the attitude assumed by the United States of America, in the case of the expropriation of the oil companies, once again affirms the sovereignty of the peoples of this hemisphere that the statesman of the most powerful country in the Americas, the most esteemed President Roosevelt, has been supporting with such effort'.
Cástulo Prado, the poet we have already quoted, a people’s poet, also left testimony of the upright attitude, the grandeur, and the respect shown by the president of the neighboring country. Cástulo's verses read:
'The millionaires asked for intervention. They went to the United States to lodge their complaint  -it looks to us, it looks to us, it looks to us- they went to the United States to lodge their complaint so that from there they would move to protect their companies. Roosevelt told them: 'Gentlemen, I can do nothing about it, the Mexican government has fulfilled its duty.'
The good results of this policy had much to do with the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Joseph Daniels, who acted with wisdom and skill in the most difficult years of relations between the two countries. His position on the oil conflict is summarized when he maintained that President Cárdenas was right in promoting the policy that the wealth of the subsoil should become part of the Mexican economy and that the oil crisis was due to the systematic refusal of foreign companies to modify their vision, since, Daniels pointed out, they felt that Mexicans were born to enrich foreigners and that God placed important natural resources in Mexico to increase the fortunes found in the coffers of the exploiters and concession holders.
But the companies were not as conscientious and respectful as U.S. politicians. The nationalization process had to confront the boycott, pressures, and acts of sabotage promoted and financed by the foreign oil companies.
In Mexico, the oil industry expropriation caused deep uneasiness among a minority, especially among the wealthy of the time, in middle-class sectors, and in most of the media.
It is interesting, and this is a lesson, to point out that historically the right wing always regroups when a democratic change is sought and becomes intolerant and even violent when it comes to social demands in favor of the people and the nation asserting its control.
Let us remember that the overthrow of President Madero, our Apostle of Democracy, was backed by the intervention of the U.S. Ambassador, but was carried out by domestic right-wing groups which had previously promoted a campaign of hate and discredit consisting of ridiculing the President, President Madero, in the newspapers to the point of treating him as a madman and a spiritualist.
The same thing happened when the expropriation, although it did not directly affect national private interests, served to bring together all the discontent of conservative groups opposed to the agrarian, labor, and educational policies of General Cárdenas.
In this climate, on September 17, 1939, the National Action Party was founded. It was founded as a reaction to the oil industry expropriation. I say this here in the Zócalo because I am not lying, I am speaking the truth.
In 1940, all these reactionary trends manifested themselves very strongly in the presidential election. The right-wing opposition was such that General Cárdenas had to act cautiously, and possibly that influenced him to support the candidacy of Manuel Ávila Camacho and not that of General Francisco J. Múgica, with whom he had more ideological affinity and who represented a greater certainty of continuity and deepening of the social and nationalist policy.
It has always been said that the general did not choose Múgica because of the risk of foreign intervention. However, as we have seen, at that time Roosevelt, who had demonstrated his respect for national sovereignty, was governing and World War II was about to break out, a situation that contributed to dissipating the threat of a U.S. intervention.
In my opinion, what most influenced the decision was the internal political circumstances, that is, the belligerence of the right-wing groups. Remember that, even though he’d decided in favor of the candidacy of Manuel Avila Camacho, who held moderate positions, the presidential election was complicated and violent.
The opposition candidate, Juan Andreu Almazán, had the support of important right-wing groups and a sector of the Army. Even the PAN, which did not run a candidate for the presidency, openly supported him.
At the end of the day, 30 dead and 127 wounded were reported. However, shortly after, Almazán gave in and his supporters, businessmen and right-wing politicians came to an understanding and made a pact for concessions and benefits with the new Ávila Camacho administration.
From then on, the authentic revolutionary ideal and actions for the benefit of the people began to be abandoned, although it must be acknowledged that this alliance between political and economic power perhaps avoided civil war and maintained social peace.
If under Porfirio Díaz, the peace of the graveyard prevailed, after President Cárdenas’ government, the peace of compromises and corruption was established.
In this brief history there are major lessons, the main one being that only with the people, only with the support of the majority, can a popular transformation be carried out to enforce justice and confront the reactionaries who oppose the loss of privileges.
For this reason, today we once again declare, we exclaim from the rooftops: no zigzagging, let us remain anchored in our principles, let us reaffirm the decision and the course we have taken since the administration began. No half measures: we in Mexico will never allow a minority to impose itself at the expense of the humiliation and impoverishment of the majority.
That is why, in our government, corruption is being fought. There is an austere government, without luxuries, and all the savings are used to finance well-being programs, such as pensions for the elderly, support for people with disabilities, single mothers, peasant farmers and fishermen, scholarships for students from poor families, Internet for All, housing improvement and construction programs, collateral-free loans, fertilizer, and guaranteed prices for the country's small producers, the Bank of Well-Being, the promotion of education and universal and free public health care.
This year more than 25 million people will receive direct support totaling 600 billion pesos (4). In other words, out of 35 million households in the country, 71 percent will receive the benefits of at least one of the social programs.
With this policy of attention to the neediest, the most vulnerable, and especially to young people, we have also been able to reduce federal crimes by 33 percent, homicides by 10 percent, vehicle theft by 38 percent, general robberies by 20 percent, huachicol (5) by 92 percent, femicides by 28 percent, and kidnappings by 76 percent.
By the same token, the savings from not allowing corruption or budgetary waste have enabled us to avoid contracting more debt. We have not requested additional debt since we have been in office.
And at the same time, without increasing the public debt in real terms, taxes have not been increased, the price of gasoline, diesel, gas, and electricity have not risen. There has even been a decrease in the price of these energy resources.
There has also been an increase in public investment, as has not occurred in many years. This year we will spend more than one trillion pesos (6) on public work projects. That is, we will continue building highways, bridges, trains, airports, hospitals, universities, markets, sports facilities, seawalls, and natural, recreational, and ecological parks.
And we are carrying out something very important: an extensive project to recover and restore historical and archeological sites of our ancient and splendid cultures and civilizations.
Public finances are strong, the national economy is booming. Last year the Mexican economy grew even more than the economies of China and the United States.
There are an unprecedented 21,747,000 workers enrolled in the health system. This figure of 21,747,000 workers in the formal economy has never been reached before.
In addition, an average wage of 525 pesos (7) per day has been achieved for these workers in the formal economy, something that had never occurred before.
The unemployment rate last January was 2.9 percent, the lowest since 2005.
We are carrying out public work projects. Right here we are refurbishing the Metro line that collapsed.
We are, of course, building the Toluca-Mexico City train line, the Maya Train, the Transisthmic Train and many, many other public works projects.
 What is happening?
After many years, we managed to get the United States to offer temporary work visas. Canada was already doing this and the United States did not accept it. Now with President Biden’s change of policy it was achieved, but they are taking skilled workers, ironworkers, welders, who are needed here for the works projects. We are going to make a small modification, because Mexico comes first and then foreign countries, but this shows how much demand there is for jobs in the country.
During the time we have been in office, the minimum wage has increased by 90 percent in real terms, and on the border it has more than doubled.
Do you remember what the lying technocrats used to say? That if wages were increased, there would be inflation. That's all a bunch of nonsense. That is not true. Of course, we have to improve wages responsibly, to strengthen the domestic market, as we are doing, and thus achieve well-being for our people.
The stock market, corporate and bank profits are posting good numbers.
The Banco de México’s reserves have increased by 15 percent, 200 billion dollars in bank reserves.
Foreign investment has climbed to previously unseen figures.
This has also occurred with remittances from our migrant countrymen and women. Thank you very much, fellow countrymen and women. Last year these remittances practically reached 60 billion dollars; this year they are going to exceed 60 billion dollars.
This is very important, because this money gets to the most remote communities, to 10 million families who benefit from them, and with this money the regional economy, commerce and other economic activities are reactivated.
It is also important to emphasize that the peso is the currency that has most appreciated in the world in relation to the dollar, something that has not occurred for more than 50 years.
We have also directed our resources and efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency and energy self-sufficiency. In the latter, as reported here by the Ministry of Energy and the Director of Pemex, we can be certain that oil sovereignty is being guaranteed. Next year we will not be buying gasoline, diesel or other oil products abroad; we will be processing all of our raw materials.
The Federal Electricity Commission, the public company in charge of managing the electricity industry, has been strengthened.
And recently lithium, a strategic mineral used in manufacturing batteries for electric cars and storage systems for clean energy, was nationalized.
It fills me with pride to be able to recall -I apologize for taking so long, but I am about to finish- it fills me with pride to be able to recall today, March 18, that, despite the policy of granting concessions that prevailed before we came into office, we were able to remove a long chapter from the Free Trade Agreement that compromised our oil and put in its place a small paragraph, which I am going to read to you.
It says: 'The United States and Canada recognize that Mexico reserves its sovereign right to reform its Constitution and domestic legislation, and Mexico has the direct, inalienable, and imprescriptible ownership of all hydrocarbons in the subsoil of the national territory.'
 My friends:
I am convinced that we will continue to receive the support of the people to consolidate the first stage in the transformation of our country.
I am also convinced that whichever candidate wins the poll to become the candidate of our movement will apply the same policy in favor of the people and in favor of the nation.
Continuity with change is assured. There is nothing to fear. Of course, we have to remain united, always looking towards the future and the happiness of our fellow men and women. This means working from below and with the people, and without neglecting the strategy that we rightly call the revolution of consciences to keep advancing in the change of mentality so as to continue politicizing our people and thus have an increasingly aware population. In this we have made considerable progress, as Mexico is one of the countries with the least political illiteracy in the world.
With that awareness we will continue, with that collective consciousness we will continue to counteract the dirty war, the slander campaigns and the attempts at manipulation that will continue to be waged, because our adversaries and their media, sold out, rented or in the hands of the members of the conservative and corrupt block, have no other choice. But at the same time we must have faith in the wisdom and loyalty of the people, the people do not betray.
Let’s recall that the victory of the reactionaries, as Juarez said, is morally impossible. We are finding that the idea and practice of exalting Mexican humanism is electrifying and is reaching the consciousness of millions of people. I base my optimism on this.
And even though it is more dangerous to underestimate the strength of one’s adversaries than to overestimate it in politics, I maintain that no matter what they do, the oligarchs will not return to power; an authentic and true democracy will continue to prevail in our beloved Mexico.
Friends:
I cannot fail to mention that in the past few days some U.S. legislators, accustomed to seeing the mote in their brother's eye, but not seeing the beam in their own, in a propaganda ploy -we would say here in colloquial language grilla or intrigue- and for electoral, politicking purposes, argued that, if we did not stop the trafficking of fentanyl to the northern border, that they were going to propose to the Congress of their country that U.S. soldiers occupy our territory to confront organized crime.
First, I want to make it clear that this is no longer the time of Calderón or García Luna, that this is no longer the time of shady links between the Mexican government and U.S. government agencies. Now there is no simulation, organized and white-collar crime is truly being fought, because there is no corruption, no impunity, and there are no complicit relationships with anyone.
But what is most important is that from here, from this Zócalo square, the political and cultural heart of Mexico, we remind those hypocritical and irresponsible politicians that Mexico is an independent and free country, not a colony or a protectorate of the United States, and that they can threaten to perpetrate any offense, but we will never, ever allow them to violate our sovereignty and trample on the dignity of our homeland.
Cooperation yes, submission no; interventionism no.

desc: It's getting harder and harder to keep yourself in check. And maybe alcohol makes it worse, or maybe it's the fact that Bob is just so sweet.

"You're not supposed to be home until noon," You spit out through a shaking breath and a shaky laugh. Bob gives you a half smile.
"Uh, I was gonna surprise you at work." He admits, still keeping his arms wrapped around you. You find that it takes everything in you not to gawk at him.
"Why?"
"It was gonna be a tremendous surprise?" He tries, and you snort, bringing a hand to your face to wipe it as you sink further into his touch. If you could, you would burrow into him to hide away from your embarrassment.
"Are we going to keep ending up like this, hugging and crying?" Bob asks after a moment, and you physically cannot stop the smile that breaks your stoic face.
"Seems so, my knight in shining..." You look at his outfit, "Blue jeans?"
Now it's Bob's turn to laugh, leaning forward to tuck his head by your shoulder, and you sniffle as a grin graces your features. Beside you, Shannon stands back up and puts her hands on her hips.
'Well," she starts, "I've gotta head back so I'll be on time for work today. You both stay safe, alright? Y/n, your boss said it's okay if you go home today."
"Oh, okay," You turn so you can see Shannon as she grabs her car keys, "Thanks for coming out, Shan."
"Of course. I'll see you in July, Y/n." Shannon grins as she starts towards the door, "see you later, Bob!"
"It was nice to meet you, Shannon!" He calls as she ducks out the door with a wave of her hand, leaving you and Bob sitting on the floor in your office. You both sit still for a while before you get a random idea.
"Wanna swim?"
Both of you end up in your pool, Bob lazing in the cool water as the sun beats down in South Carolina. Sunscreen creates a visibly oily sheen across the surface of the water that ripples in the sunlight. While Bob has already sunken into the pool, a sunscreen half washed off his skin while you're only just making it outside. You adjust your sunglasses as you waltz out with one of the newest bikinis you own on your body. It's modest, high-waisted with a thick bandeau top, but it hugs you in all the perfect spots. Though you mostly wear it because it's comfortable, and if you end up tanning, you hope it will fix the slight farmer tan you're noticing on your arms. A case of unopened beer cans that Bob had grabbed on the way to your home sits in the shadow of the pool umbrella, and you bend down to pick it up while Bob turns to look at you. You feel his gaze heavy on you, so you glance over your sunglasses to see his lips slightly gaped as his eyes stare at something below yours. With a snort, you crack open a beer and hand it to him while you grab another from the pack as you step onto the steps leading into your pool.
"You'll catch flies with your lips parted like that, Robby." You tease, sitting in the sun on the step next to him. He brings his beer to his lips, watching as you crack open yours and take a sip.
"I..." The words die in his throat, making you laugh as you give him a tilted head grin.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing!" He exclaims, eyes widening more, if it was possible, "I just... never really see you in much other than blue jeans and a shirt."
You laugh, "Did you forget I have a feminine figure, Rob?"
"I..." He contemplated what he was planning to say for a few seconds before speaking a bit softer, "I guess it's just been a long time since I've seen it."
"Am I getting you bothered?" You say before realizing you should probably censor yourself, considering your mom is in the kitchen making dinner. He scoffs instead, taking another long sip of his drink. You do the same. Once finished, you set your can down and slide until you're off the steps and into the water. The sun's warmed your pool to the perfect temperature, so you dip under the water when your face feels hot, hoping to cool it off. You assume it's from the sun, or maybe you're more of a lightweight than you remember.
When you come up for air, you drag your hands through your hair and float to the wall beside Bob in the shade. Coming to relax with your arms on the wall, you smile at him and lift one hand to absentmindedly run your hand along his scar.
"Are you trying to?" He questions and you blink up at him, watching as he adjusts his glasses so they don't slide off his nose from the inelegant position he cranes his neck down into.
"Not really." You concede, dropping your hand to rest on the concrete by your head again, "I'm just still so astonished little quiet Robby turned into a Naval Aviator who shoots guns and drops bombs and... I don't know. I guess I always knew you had a fire in you, but I never really saw it."
"It's a lot." Bob states, sinking into the water so he can rest his head back on the wall, "I almost dropped out of training five or six times from start to graduation. I'm glad I stuck it through though, I've gotten to meet and work with so many amazing, awe-inspiring people from it."
Your eyes drag to the scar on his shoulder again, then up to the one by his jaw, "Is it worth it? The scars and the terror?"
"Kind of, it always feels good to pull off a mission." He says and you hum, finishing off one can of beer easier than you intend to. The two of you sit in silence for a long time, the soft chirp of the chicks in the far-off coop and the muted sound of your mother's 80s music through one of the upstairs windows being your only company. The alcohol hits you slowly, enough to buzz your thoughts, and you think to yourself: what if there was a day, like in movies, where the officers in their stark uniforms showed up at your door? What if you had to host a funeral for your childhood best friend? Your eyes burn into his scar as you imagine him never coming home from that mission. And you realize it genuinely scares you; it strikes something in your heart that cries, so you find yourself sitting up with drunk discretions.
"Can you make me a stupid promise?"
"Depends on how stupid it is." He chides, and you roll your eyes as he sits up so you both can be face to face without having to be at any more awkward angles.
"Can you promise me you'll always come home? Robby, I just got you back, for real, and I don't know if I'm willing to lose you again." You whisper, "We've clicked back together like puzzle pieces, and I don't know what I'd do with myself if you... well, y'know."
Bob's quiet for a while, his eyes scanning you before his hands are lifted from the water to pull you close. You gratefully accept the hug, burying your face in his skin, soaking in the warmth that tells you he's living.
"I'll always come home to you." He says after giving you a silent moment to soak in the hug, "I always will."
"Please try not to break this one. Tell Phoenix too." You grumble and he laughs, letting one arm drop to grab his beer as your turn, curling against his side. You slot there so naturally just like you always had as a teen.
"I'm sure she'd agree with you." He tilts his head to the side and your noses bump, you blink and feel the heat from before returning to your cheeks as your face flushes bright red. You can see it on his skin too, and you swallow. His eyes flick from your lips to your eyes, then back down, and you find yourself leaning in a bit closer. You can feel his breath on your skin and you let a sly grin slip its way onto your face, watching his cheeks grow redder. You slide a hand up his arm to his shoulder, resting it there as his eyelids flutter at you and his teeth scrape his lip. There's some sort of unspoken conversation in your eyes, permission being asked, and you dip forward to connect. But it never happens.
"Y/n! Rob! Dinner!" Your mom calls from the window, and you both sharply pull apart. There's a beat where you maintain eye contact before he turns, and you stand to follow him out of the pool. Once you start to dry yourself off, you make your way over to the patio, where your mom has set up a nice spread of food to eat. When you look back at Bob, you see him wave as his Mom and Step-Dad walk over from where they'd parked their car, and you sigh, turning back towards your mother as she gives you an all-knowing smile. You pout at her and take your place on the couch, ready to stuff your face full.
--
You don't see Bob the next morning, considering Molly forced him to have a 'tea party sleepover' or something with her. After dinner. It's fine with you because you desperately need sleep and you know if you spend any more time around Bob without a chance to clear your mind you'll be doing other things than sleeping.
You end up spending less time teaching on Thursday than you mean to and when you get home, no one is around, so you take the free time you have before dinner to practice. Fuego is practically bursting out of her pen by the time you get there to let her out and bring her into the small section where you usually bathe and tack her. Immediately, find it hard to tack her up without her getting impatient or trying to run off to go run somewhere on her own, and even if you do find it funny, it's also super fricken annoying. You lead her to the section you'd made for practicing and mount. The second you get on her saddle, one you'd customized after realizing you wanted to barrel race for real, she's bucking around and flinging her head. It takes a bit of fighting to get her to relax, but if Fuego is anything, she's loyal.
"Alright, girl." You say to her, "You ready to run?"
She starts thrashing out of excitement, but she holds back, waiting for the crack of your reins and the whistle you'll let out. You go to start but hesitate when you hear random voices approaching, but it's not enough to make you stop.
"Fuego!" You shout and then whistle, and she takes off. You round the first barrel with ease, and she runs a little slow to the second, her turn around the third knocks the barrel but doesn't make it fall, and her straightaway run is as perfect as it usually is. Once you get her to calm, knowing her first run is always a bit messy, you bring her through again, this time making sure to feel the path as she runs it. You feel better about the run, and fish a treat out of your pocket as a reward for doing well, when you hear someone wolf whistle. Fuego snorts.
"Bob wasn't lying when he said you were a glass of water." The voice says and you turn your head, hand coming to the brim of your cowboy hat as you adjust it so it actually blocks all the sun from your eyes.
"Who the hell are you?" You ask, looking at the man who leans on the fence, he laughs waving a hand.
"No real flirts here, don't worry." He grins up at you, aviators reflecting the sun a bit as he tilts his head up, "Bradley. Rooster, he's probably called me."
"He has." You say, "You wanna keep bothering my practice, or will you shut up and watch quietly?"
"I'll shut up, Ma'am." He salutes you and you roll your eyes, bringing Fuego back around to where you start Fuego for her runs. You huff, bringing your head down to brush her mane as you take a breath and think of how to adjust your grips or calls for the next run. Fuego stomps and paces a bit, making you grin as you sit back up, pulling her reins to get her to walk to the side so you can restart.
"Fuck it up, Y/n!" You hear Jake call and you shake your head.
"Fuck off, Seresin." You say, but nevertheless, now with an audience, you start the path. And, to be fair, it's probably the best you've run it in a while. It's not perfect by a long shot, but you do pretty well. The team cheers you on, and you bow with extra drama, quickly dismounting from Fuego and bringing her back into the barn. You'll practice more later, but for now, you have quite a few pilots to meet after you untack her.
You don't know if you're nervous, or really weirdly excited to finally meet them all.

good freaking morning 🌄!
That's Domino up there btw she's one of my hens, I just wanted a picture on this post. For some reason I feel like rambling abt general life today so that's what I'm gonna do.
Recently I've been gearing up on looking into college and I feel like a lot of people I know expect me to go into school for art or something, but I've been eyeing up a biology degree so hard it's unreal and I'd be sooo excited to go down that road. To find a job some day that involves biology / science / animals / medicine, that's the dream right there.
Everyone in my household right now is working at home for my father-in-law's business but oh my god I do not want a computer job if I can help it. I briefly designed some graphics for one of their sites and I quickly realised that I really, really do not want my career in life to be art related. It is a hobby, a creative experience, and even with commissions I detest having to sell my art. Does anyone else feel this way? idk.
Anyway unrelated, spring time is coming and that means the local farmer's supply outlet has new baby chicks for sale, and since a lot of my hens are older and not laying as much anymore, I was thinking about getting a handful some time soon. If any of you guys read this far, and like chickens especially, you should let me know what kinds of breeds you think would be cute to see grow up. I'm looking for high production eggers but I'm also just a sucker for pretty breeds.
I am soooo over silkies though for real. Half if not more of my chickens are all silkies, because I made the mistake of getting two, where one ended up being a roo, who then proceeded to mate only with the other silkie (because he is so small he can't actually mate with any of the larger hens), and now I have like, 7. They're like rabbits. I don't even really like silkies?? I just got them because a friend wanted me to.
I love my frizzles though, you can see them in that video from yesterday-- the white and the brown one. They're insane and twisted and little freaks with too much energy, they're awesome.
I have a lot more I wanna ramble about but I don't think it fits the mood of this rather positive post, so perhaps for another time. Grumble grumble annoying sp au shit -_-.
If you've cared to read this far, let me know how your day or week has been going. Things have been clearing up/warming up around here finally, and my pet cactus is happy about that, so I've been in a pretty good mood lately. I'd like to know how some of you guys are doing.

Hold My Hand
A Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw ficlet
A/N This is the very first thing I started and! finished writing and feel brave enough to share. Usually I am only on the reading side. But apparently, my obsession with TG and listening to the playlist on repeat sparked this little something. I highly recommend listening to the song while reading. Feedback is appreciated. Thanks for betaing @princessmisery666 - love u <3
Words 700 - no warnings
It's rare that Bradley and you have a whole weekend to yourselves, so whenever that was the case you made the most of it.
This weekend you went to the farmers market on Saturday morning, had lunch in town, did a little shopping and finally relaxed, goofing around at the beach until the sun was down.
Tumblr media
On Sunday you slept in and Bradley surprised you with breakfast in bed. You went on a walk, then prepared dinner together and put it in the oven for later.
Now it's Sunday afternoon and Rooster is sitting at the piano in the corner of your living room, learning a new song you know he wants to show off at The Hard Deck next weekend when meeting with your friends for the annual Dagger Mission reunion.
You're laying on the sofa reading, sipping wine and listening to his progress. Checking the clock you notice there are only 10 minutes left before you have to get dinner out of the oven and you tell Bradley. He nods and watches you over his shoulder. You hold eye contact for a moment and wonder what's on his mind until one side of his mouth turns up in a grin and he turns back to the piano.
Tumblr media
He starts playing totally different notes and you recognize the song immediately. You’re catapulted back to the best day of your life almost three years ago. You can nearly feel the warm sand between your feet, when you close your eyes, enjoying the music and letting the memory consume you whole.
You're barefoot in a beautiful, white, long, flowy dress, a handmade crown of daisies  loosely braided into your hair with a matching bouquet of daisies and other white wildflowers in your hand as the piano version of Hold My Hand by Lady Gaga starts to play and you're making your way down the sandy aisle.
His watery eyes are on you and only you, as your very handsome and very soon-to-be-husband Lt. Bradley Bradshaw is waiting for you in his navy blue full dress uniform at the makeshift wedding altar on Breakers Beach.
Once you reach him you take the bouquet of flowers in one hand and he is taking your other in his much bigger one, gently rubbing his thumb over your knuckles. Bradley is taking you in and you squirm under his intense gaze.
"Hi," You whisper almost shyly.
"Hi." He exhales and adds with the biggest smile on his face, "You're so beautiful, babygirl." You blush and he loves it.
The formalities of the ceremony are only a blurr, but you remember you only have eyes for each other and your cheeks hurt from smiling so much.
What you'll never forget is his vow. "I can conquer the whole world with one hand, as long as you hold the other." He squeezes your hand tightly. "I will always love you, baby." You've never felt stronger or more loved until this very moment.
Tumblr media
The song ends and you open your eyes, tears threaten to spill as your husband is making his way over to you. "What's wrong, baby?"
His voice is laced with concern when he sees you up close. He sits beside you and caresses your cheek with his palm. "Just happy tears, honey. You know what that song does to me."
You smile up at him and lean forward so he can embrace you. "I get it. I love to play that song and remember the day you became Mrs. Bradshaw, became mine. It was the best day of my life."
He places a kiss on your temple, then helps you up from the sofa. But you stop him, hugging him tightly and tell him, "It was the best day of my life as well. I love being your wife. You make me so happy, Roos. I love you."
While gazing at each other you both have the same gigantic, lovestruck smiles on your faces just like the day you got married.
"I love you, too." He kisses your lips softly. "But let's get you fed, babygirl. You always get emotional when you’re hungry." He teases already halfway into the kitchen as you chase after him.

ranking things the zoo guests do/say/ask on a regular basis
for context, i work at a zoo, and people are fucking insane
"can we pet them?": 3/10. no, you can't. the signs say you can't. but I commend you for asking. If you ask after you've already pet one, though, -8/10. do better.
"i think there's a nursery rhyme about the kookaburra!": 5/10. cool trivia fact! if you actually start singing it, though, 1/10. cool you actually know it, but please stop
"garfunkel, huh? where's simon?": -10000/10. You Suck. I hate when people ask me this and I hate them personally. Because of this job I now have a vendetta against Simon and Garfunkel.
(starts playing kookaburra noises on their phone speaker): 2/10. clever, but annoying. also, doesn't work if you're trying to get them to make noise. they only laugh when no one is watching them.
"well, one of 'em over there let me pet 'em just fine!": -6/10. you did not have to tell me you did that. and just by that description, i know it was garfunkel, who is usually resting because He Is Overheated. animals laying down is not an open invitation to come pet them.
"i was just taking pictures!": 0/10. you can take pictures from the designated guest path. Stay On It.
"can we pet the swans?": just for this question specifically, -16/10. are you fucking kidding me? can you pet the swans? ask me that question again but slowly.
"garfunkel?? they need to get some spaghetti, cuz that's not quite italian enough!": 10000/10. i've only ever heard this once, and it was today from a 13 year old, but I genuinely had to stop myself from bursting out laughing on the job
"are the emus friendly?": 4/10. Australia lost a war to them for a reason.
"why aren't the animals in cages?": -5/10. first of all, we don't cage animals, we keep them in habitats. second of all, this is the Australia Walkabout. Where you Walk About with the Australian animals. You came in here for that exact purpose.
"i don't like birds": -7/10. not because you're afraid, birds are a totally normal thing to dislike. i'm just baffled why you came into an enclosure full of many many free roaming birds if you are afraid of them
"why is the swan pond so dirty?": 1/10. first of all, that is algae, and in small amounts it's not bad at all. it's pretty natural, especially for a giant pond directly in the sun. but more importantly, it is hundreds of gallons, and we cannot put chlorine in it, and it is not feasible to clean every day. we do clean it multiple times a week, but it gets especially bad after storms or heavy rain
"will the budgies poop on me?": 7/10. valid concern, actually. budgies shit every 10-15 minutes. maybe. i've had it happen plenty of times before to guests and especially myself. to answer their question, you'll only get pooped on if you stand directly under them. they don't shit while flying so ur good
"can my child ride the [emu/wallaby/giraffe]?": -284/10. i don't know what kind of cocaine you need to be on to ask me this question seriously, or especially to expect the answer to be yes, but even as a joke this question isn't funny. if i had a nickel for every time i was asked this question, i'd have a quarter
"will the giraffes bite me if i feed them?": 8/10. no, they physically can't. nor do they want to. but it's a valid question; they're pretty big animals to be feeding so carelessly. you'll probably get licked though
(does an australian accent): just because it barely ever happens, 8/10. you'd think it'd happen more often, but no. i've only ever got it a couple times. i rank it so high because hearing these guys try and fail to do an accent makes me laugh so hard
"are you a farmer?": 9999/10. little kids ask me this question when they see my safari hat. makes my day every time.
"are these kangaroos?": 5/10. on one hand, fine. not everyone knows the difference between kangaroos and wallabies. since wallabies are like a quarter of the size of roos, they're often mistakenly called baby kangaroos. plus they're in the same family and look very similar. on the other hand, do you honestly think we'd be stupid enough to put actual fucking kangaroos in with guests walking around freely without an enclosure? be for real
"do these wallabies have pouches?": 3/10. fine question, but these guys have comically large balls
"is that wallaby dead?": 4/10. no, that's garfunkel. he sleeps all the time. i promise he's ok.
"can we pet the budgies?": 2/10. you're welcome to try, but even i can't get them on a seed stick let alone touch them
"can we grab the budgies out of the air?": -999999999/10. Explode.
"don't you hate how the animals are treated in zoos?": -999999/10. you are not the PETA warrior you think you are. when executed properly, they can be really good for the animals inside of them. natural does not necessarily mean good, nor does unnatural necessarily mean bad. that's called a Logical Fallacy. some of these animals Cannot Be Released. please do any amount of research on zoos and aquariums that are not seaworld or the once in a while shitshows
"what year do you graduate high school?": -infinity/10. i am in College.
"when i was younger, budgie feeding was one dollar each, not two!": -18/10. that was in 1943, grandma. plus i'm just some guy. what do you want me to do about that?
"can i have a seed stick for free?": if you're an adult, -10/10. No. if you're a child, 10/10. No (wink and passes under table).
"can you break a hundred?": -100/10. No.
"i like your hat": 10/10. thank you! i like yours too!
"that's a cool pin you have!": 10000/10. my pins are all pronouns and trans flags. i love you.
(sees me cleaning the budgie aviary) (looks at their kid) "See that man in there? If you don't behave, I'll force you to have his job.": -infinity plus one/10. First of all, fuck you for shitting on janitorial positions. I'm sure you would prefer to not step in bird shit. Second of all, I'm not a janitor. Third of all, fuck you for getting your child to behave using fear tactics and threats. Fourth of all, I love my job. I tell these kids and parents straight up to their face that I do. That this isn't everything I have to do in my job. Some parts might be dirty, but that's okay, and no one's job is ever something to be laughed at. One kid told their parent after I told them everything I get to do in my job that they actually want my job when they grow up. That parent was furious. Good. Fuck you, Karen, for shitting on workers that only help make your experience more enjoyable. I've only gotten this three times, thank god, but holy shit. The entitlement of these people is fucking insane
anyway i might think of more later
