A parallel I haven’t seen much talk about: how Lilith goes on the warpath for Mary the same way Mary went on the warpath for Shannon (and how they both fall into Vincent’s trap).
Season one Lilith was all about the OCS (or rather her ambition for the Halo). She told Mary not a day after Shannon’s murder that she needed to think about the mission, not her own personal agenda (which was not only hypocritical, but as Beatrice said, unfair). And in that same scene, she dismissed Mary as not being a true member of the team because she wasn’t a nun and didn’t take vows like the rest of them. She was a free agent who operated on her own terms.
But after their tearful reconciliation in the catacombs, Vincent’s betrayal, and Mary’s subsequent disappearance under an army of wraith demons, Lilith’s priorities shift significantly. The start of season two finds her as the new lone wolf as she hunts down Vincent herself. And while the OCS is just as interested in finding him to get to Adriel, Lilith’s only concern is Mary. She’s ready to tear him apart herself, just as Mary threatened that man in 1×02, and then later goes through a whole squadron with her bare hands.
The part that really gets me, though, is Lilith and Vincent’s scene in the car. She’s finally got a lead after two months, finally has a location on Mary. And despite being outnumbered, despite being about to walk into Adriel’s fortress without backup, there isn’t one shred of fear or hesitation. She just tells Vincent to signal the guards. “Put a foot out of place and I’ll –”
“You’ll kill me. I know,” Vincent says.
A small smile plays around Lilith’s mouth. “I won’t kill you,” she says easily. “I’d never take that pleasure away from Mary.”
She gives him a pointed look and Vincent just grimaces before they climb out of the car.
Vincent is jovial as he greets the guards and then gestures to Lilith with an outstretched arm. “I have brought home a friend.”
And Lilith, chuckling, slides right into the embrace like it’s nothing, even putting her head on his shoulder. They walk through the gates just like that, leaning against each other.
It’s such a cruel twist of the knife to think that that’s how they were before. We’ve only really seen Vincent’s one-on-one dynamic with Ava, Mary, and Beatrice, but this ease, this familiarity with Lilith is something completely different. Given her family’s history with the OCS and her claim that she’s trained harder than anyone else, she was probably one of the closest to him.
Their embrace is that of a father and daughter. This was someone she could laugh with, lean on, confide in. Someone she trusted to take care of her. Now it’s just a part she plays on paper so that she can get her real family back.

I think there's a lot of discomfort in wanting to acknowledge people who are bad people as victims because there's this nagging desire to see victimhood as this experience only truly good people can go through, and if someone is a bad person they must've somehow deserved what happened, or it must've not been that bad
and I think one of the best examples of this particular train of thought is how a lot of people approach Frank Burns
#mash#frank burns#Frank is unquestionably a victim and I have seen a lot of people who dont like to acknowledge that#for the reasons cited above#but make no mistake Frank is a victim#a victim of the US army#a victim of an abusive family#a victim of the culture he comes from#you cannot acknowledge everyone else being victims and leave Frank out of that conversation#im not saying he's a good person#one of the greatest things about his character is that he isnt a good person#I watched the 30th anniversary reunion yesterday and Larry Linville put it perfectly#paraphrasing here but 'you want him redeemed? who do you want him to be- Alan Alda?'#he doesnt need a redemption arc of any kind to be interesting#he's an incredibly fascinating character just the way he is

not wanting to tag this bc obvious reasons but i hate asoiaf modern aus so bad, if it's your thing more power to you, but all i see is just heavy mischaracterizations of all the characters, i mean almost all modern aus have arya and sansa being besties... like at this point did you actually read the books, yeah they are sisters and probably always will be, but currently they don't have a good relationship, how could that be when the oldest sister bullies and completely bashes the younger sister self-esteem

gege somehow made the People Being Forced To A Kill Or Be Killed Situation arc boring
#it started off nicely w the megumi and yuji arc but after that (sans hakari and kashimo fight) its always rolling downhill#a major reason is i think it established a high stake and then just didnt deliver on it#shibuya felt like riding a bus with a driver whos intoxicated and the bus ended up rolling down the hill#culling games feel like driving to a family reunion#also ntm the turn its taking w recent chapters with curse naoya effectively bulldozing the shock and weight the zenin massacre held#it doesnt make sense both in a technical worldbuilding sense and in a narrative sense#gege gave us maki again reintroduced her as a monster via momo's narration but then he has her getting smacked around. ok#txt#jjk spoilers#like gege realy made the worst choices in this arc first sidelining uro despite her interesting history and then doing maki so dirty

As much as I’d love to see a C3 adaptation, it would be really hard to adapt into an animated series with the streaming standard 12-ish episode length seasons
Compared to the heroic epic of Vox Machina, Bell’s Hells is more of an ongoing mystery. Mystery stories are built on gradual reveals and discoveries that add on to each other and get more complex. The pacing and build up are key.
So you either start at the beginning of the campaign and have a first 12 episodes that feel anticlimactic compared to the group who killed a dragon in their premiere, or you start somewhere in the middle and have to cut out/change the order of so much build up that the payoff feels like nothing
In the unlikely event Campaign 3 ever got adapted, it would really need the old school 24-ish episode season to really thrive
#cr3#the existence of a mid-season finale would also make it easier for them to include the dorian arc#But if they decide to cut that they could focus on Imogen as the main and build up to otohan being the climax#with most side focus on Laudna so that her death and ressurection feel more meaningful#And of course give enough focus to Fearne for her parents to feel impactful if their story with the nightmare king can't be moved#FCG we mostly just have to spend enough time with their personality for thei reveal to work#With Orym as impactful as him realizing this is the person who killed his family was#that's also something that can work as a later reveal#we don't find out about Will until Orym has been killed and he sees him in limbo#their reunion would tell us everything we need to know about their relationship#and things like him talking to derrig's spirit would be enough foreshadowing for the dad#and then Orym's explanation later can be to the group#OR him saying 'we found their killers' to Dorian as a reveal#if timed properly#I also kind of like the idea of the earlier arc being skipped#but still showing Orym messaging Dorian#so that new viewers can be like 'who is he talking to? what's the deal there?'#and Dorian is a bit of a reveal for later
