Hi,
I am writing in context of my comment to your recent KP rewatch post. I have only just started to look at your older posts, and I must thank you very much for actually being the first place where I find proper in depth-criticism of Only Friends. As I mentioned, the show is very dear to me, and when it aired I only saw a lot of ranting and 'Boston is being punished for being poly' commentary, which being poly myself, I just couldn't see at all, as I never perceived Boston as poly rep. Also thank you for bringing Jojo's comments on Boston onto your blog, because I was not aware of those, and they recontextualize the anger of many people a lot for me. But maybe a main reason why I didn't even think about something like that is because I perceived the show absolutely not as a morality piece but as a depiction of a questionable queer friends group and their antics. I always saw the title as ironic, as the cast never gave found family vibes style friends group to me, but instead always showed how deeply problematic they all are.
There is much more I want to say here, and maybe I should make a proper meta post of my own once I have read more of your (partially also reblogged) posts on the matter.
For now I just want to add that I don't see any of the main cast as without major flaws, and I am hoping for a second season that is as messy as the first (messy not as in bad, but continuing to play to the characters' flaws and work with that), as the current stable situation doesn't seem to me like something that will remain. And all that I say as someone who usually doesn't like messy.
To end my rambling, thank you very much again for making your blog such a goldmine of excellent discussion, and insightful meta. I love it.

Very interesting to hear that folks were interpreting Boston as poly. Yeah, no. I did not ever go there in my interpretations of him. The polyamory that I’ve seen in Thai shows is limited to the second season of Gay OK Bangkok (Aof’s and Nong Big’s triad) and 3 Will Be Free.
I saw Boston instead as simply having casual sex, and being judged for it. I’d posit that he was judged both by the characters within the show, and — and I say this with a fair amount of seething bias — by the creative team of the show itself. To the point you made about Jojo’s own quotes of calling Boston a slut, I think the character of Boston was likely written with judgement of casual sex in mind. (Which, wtf.)
My review of Theory of Love covers my strong distaste for judgements against casual sex, in part because I subjectively and personally think that judgements against casual sex offer judgy individuals false states of moral superiority that ultimately ring as hypocritical and disingenuous to me — especially if and when those judgy individuals jump at the opportunity to have casual sex themselves. In regards to Only Friends, what I felt was truly disingenuous about the whole show was its original marketing on being a progressive show about casual sex, depicted by actors who seemed to be ready to leave the confines of their branded ships. We got QUITE the opposite instead — the ships shipped together in a seeming condemnation of casual sex outside of monogamous relationships. The way Boston was condemned and left behind by his friends and Nick just seemed kinda unnecessarily brutal.
But this is me taking into account not just what the show internally is saying, but how I also think the show was conceived of and created externally. Den Panuwat, OF’s screenwriter, also had monogamous relationships as end goals in his more recent show of Playboyy, and I’m watching his first screenwriting work now in War of Y, and I’m not terribly impressed by his art. I do agree the “friends” of Only Friends end up in a non-committal and arguably “messy” place, but other than being judgmental dicks, I don’t know what their motivation was to be disloyal assholes in the first place — the show never told me that. It was all just kinda meh in the end.
@the-iron-queen: I’d recommend watching both seasons of Gay OK Bangkok, 3 Will Be Free, and Theory of Love for much more sophisticated conversations about sex from Thailand. I don’t know why more recent Thai BLs are just putzing out on this topic lately, but there’s a short history of really good shows that delve into this, and if I’m not mistaken, I think a few Japanese BLs are also treading well in this territory right now that I need to catch up on. I hope my back catalogue of Old GMMTV Challenge posts keeps you entertained, good luck!

The Master Sword of the Downfall Timeline
As promised in my last post, here it is! My little deep dive into Legends sword and how I think it will affect the story going forward.
(Also, I loved reading everyones thoughts on that post. Thank you so much for sharing!)

Sorry this took a little longer then planned, but I came across some new interesting details while researching this and it took me a bit longer to compile my thoughts.
Let’s quickly start off by discussing some points that were brought up by others on my last post.
Is it possible for two Master Swords to coexist in the LU?
YES. In fact it's happened in canon before!

Is the Spirit of the sword still in Legends sword?
Again, I would say yes. Not only is this supported by the Tempered Sword glowing in response to the Master Sword after Legend regains his human form, but also if BotW is the ending point for all the timelines then that means the spirit of the sword lives on, as it's HEAVILY implied that Fi is the one who tells Zelda that Wild can be saved.

Ok, now let's jump into the predictions and theory!
First, gotta start off with some context.
This actually all began when I came across this old quote from Jojo while making my The Chains Secrets post (and my thoughts just kind of spiraled from there...)
“they know a Hero before failed, it’s nothing personal to them, it’s simply the world as they know it. But it gives weight to their responsibility seeing as the Hero of Hyrule’s home is still suffering the consequences.
but this did give me some good ideas so Thanks for this Q!”
This quote is regarding Hyrule and Legend’s knowledge of the death of a previous hero. They haven’t mentioned it yet to the others (and I highly doubt they realize that the Hero who died was an alternate version of Time), but it’s not like it’s never crossed their minds… for instance, I bet you anything that when Twi was discussing the Master Sword with Legend that the thought of the previous hero’s fate crossed Legend's mind.
It’s a small but important detail. Legend is aware of the fate that met the hero before him, but hasn’t said anything about it yet. I’m not entirely sure why, but I can see how this knowledge would weigh heavy on him.
So how does this relate to Legend's version of the Master Sword?
Strap in, we're diving into a lot of lore!
As I delved further into research for this theory I noticed something very peculiar about the Master Sword in ALttP that I have never noticed before.
The Master Sword changes forms when pulled from the pedestal.
Now you might be thinking, Binkus, come on... the developers had to simplify the sword cuz originally it was like the size of the player. And yeah... true. BUT while looking into official art for the game I noticed that the sword is also depicted in two different ways from when it's resting in its pedestal VS Link wielding it. Take a look.
See how the sword is depicted in the pedestal in comparison to outside of it? Even the box art and the games title screen feature the two different versions of the sword.
To my knowledge, there's no in-game explanation for this. It just happens.
(quick side note... I am once again floored by Jojo's attention to detail here! She took elements from various depictions of the Master Sword when designing her version of the sword that Legend finds. There's the shape and coloring of the modern depiction of the sword, the lack of a spike on the on the cross-guard and the different rain-guard on the ALttP version of the sword in the pedestal, plus the cloth/leather wrapping from the golden hilt version. Just amazing.)
Now, it's not unheard of for the Master Sword to take on different forms. It has slight variations in all the games it appears in, with the largest changes to its design happening in Skyward Sword, Wind Waker, and (of course) A Link to the Past.
Ok... but why? Why change forms upon being pulled out of the pedestal? And specifically why change to look so beat up? Is this the swords true form? The sword in the art with the golden/orange hilt isn't looking it's best. Just look at the sword on the box art for the game, it's all dinged-up.
(This is probably why Legend tempers the Master Sword in the first place)
But you know, Legends Master Sword reminds me of another— the Master Sword from BotW. Specifically it's depiction in the final memory.
During that last battle, Wild is dying and the state of the sword reflects that. He wasn’t suddenly struck down with a surprise killing blow. He was struggling to even stand and was running only on adrenaline and determination to protect Zelda. The moment she accesses her powers and saves them he just collapses.
Zelda's dialogue in the game also implies there's a connection between sword and master.
“We pray for your protection, and we hope that… that the two of you will grow stronger together, as one.” — Zelda (Breath of the Wild)
So it seems that if the sword's master dies, there's a negative impact on the Master Sword itself.
Even though Wild was brought back through the Shrine of Resurrection, the Master Sword is definitely not in the best of shape and constantly breaks (and the BotW 2 trailers further support this with the sorry state of the sword in those previews)
Now, remember what happened to the swords previous master before Legend?
He died...
And the Master Sword's true state after being pulled from the pedestal in ALttP reflects this.
Legend inherited the burden of a suffering kingdom and a dilapidated sword mourning for its lost master.
"Thank you, Master Link. May we meet again in another life…" — Fi (Skyward Sword)
Time was only the swords second wielder— Fi finally got to meet her master again, however this time he was only a child. The spirit of the sword probably did what it thought was best by putting a young Time into a seven year sleep, but unfortunately we know that decision didn't turn out too well in any timeline...
One he's essentially erased from and Ganondorf returns, another he regains his lost time but dies full of regrets, and the last (which Legend is a part of) he dies fighting Ganon.
Maybe it would have actually been worse if the sword had never put him to sleep, but we'll never truly know...
Ok, so where can this take the story in regards to LU?
Well... there's two character's in particular that I've already mentioned that I believe could be impacted by both Legend and his version of the Master Sword; Wild and Time.
And perhaps part of the reason Legend has yet to mention the nature of his sword is just for story telling purposes. You know...for the ✨DRAMA✨
I've touched on Wild's complicated feelings towards the sword in a previous theory, and we know that he's currently struggling under crushing guilt at the moment.
Legend is probably not someone's first choice when seeking out comfort, but I believe Legend's unique experiences could help him understand what Wild is going through. Legend knows that Wild is not the only Hero to die. He knows what it's like to not be able to save everyone you care about. He knows what it's like to wield a battered sword. He knows what it's like trying to save a barren land. He knows that none of what happened was Wild's fault, and that the blame falls solely on Ganon.
I'd love to see these two have an interaction where they open up about their experiences.
With Time, I ponder the possibility of his views on the Master Sword changing slightly. Or maybe just healing the spirit of Legend's sword. He would never willingly use the sword that Sky currently carries, but imagine a circumstance where he unknowingly takes up Legend's blade, and he wields the sword that has been mourning his death for centuries. This could be an interesting way for everyone to find out more about their weird timeline split. (plus Time finding out he died in one of them is delicious drama/angst)
Having said that however... Seeing how the Hero before Twi (AKA Time) left the sword in perfect condition in the woods where he grew up PLUS the fact that the Hero's Shade carries the Master Sword's scabbard when teaching the 5th Hidden Skill leads me to believe that Time's feelings towards the sword may soften up a bit.
I'm leaning more towards the Legend & Wild interaction theory more so then the Time & Legend's Sword theory, BUT let me know your thoughts! I always love to hear them.

I hate to break it to people, but once they stop screaming over reality and trying to project their stuff at real people rather than listening to how they communicate, what they mean--
Jensen and Dean's journey is nearly the same. It's part of how he put himself to peace with Dean, and was one of the primary reasons (I've listed a few others before) he did this. (I remember before the prequel, and before clarified on stage a few times, 2po screeched specifically against this, but what's true is true.)
And that includes today's panel of Jared and Jensen distinguishing their opinions and perspectives despite the seeming parallelism of their paths.
I've banged on about Dean, Rocky, Rox(x)y. Not Who I Am, UnSure Who I Am, Who She Really Is. Jojo's dialogue about accepting who we are.
But that's just it. It's how that "we" is applied.
Jojo's use is addressing multiple people to accept, individually, who YOU are. However, if there's only a "who WE are" for you, if there's only your weird group identity or something, then you still didn't stick that Who I Am part.
And for many years, Jensen has grown and changed, reacted to stimuli and learning experiences to improve. And now he picked up this old alchemical story torch to run it.
And why? Because he Had A Take. It's interesting that you say it, because In That Exact Moment, He Had A Take. But then, by the next setup, He Has A Take. I Have A Take. But nobody wants to actually ask what that take is. They're too busy telling others what that new take is, off of OLD pretenses, thus deleting it as a new one.
It's the same way Jared assumed Jensen's question was also HIS question at Dencon, and thus shoved his bullshit in there and left Jensen buffering figuring out how to answer, since it's contrary to EVERYTHING he was working on. To not invalidate Jared's experience and feeling about the content, and also frankly not pick a fight with his coworker on stage while the show was still vulnerable.
And they talked about it. And now, Jared doesn't jump into questions over Jensen. *We* talked about it but *I*. Jensen using I. It's not We Are.
It's not Our Take. It's Jensen's take. Who He Is. What He Stands For. The Path He Chose. And that's different than Jared's, and that's okay, Jared can take from art or life what he wants, but it's not Jensen's, and Jensen knows Who He Is, and realized Who Dean Is through it too.
J2 ops and branding drift as Jensen individualizes his path and messaging, and Jared and Jensen both clearly picked different audiences. I even mean pollitical skew outside of SPN audiences. That's also fine I guess. Your choice dude. But those are Jared's choices, not Jensen's, and Jensen is going to continue to highlight in every possible way that Jared's take is not his take.
The Winchesters' ending is his new take. That's what it is. And that's why the antis and grifters are working so hard to convince everyone to ignore what the creatives are saying, and convince you that your voices weren't heard.
They were. But you gotta care to listen to how, and why Jensen sees it. You gotta let him Just Be, and listen to him the way he means to talk, or otherwise, you just gotta wait for the end and realize that your reservation was never the Pragmatism you sold it to yourself as.
Jensen is a wonderful person. He just wants you to Just Be. To Just Be It Or Do It Or Say It Or Take Up Space. Robbie's a wonderful person. When he meets you, he doesn't just tell you how it's going to go, he asks your story first.
Listen to what I have been telling you guys. Put your thinker caps on and ask yourselves what's happening here.

Ok, so as we know I envision Jancy having two daughters named Jordan and Dylan (mentioned Here here and here and briefly here ) (Also possibly other posts but I can't find them atm)
ANYWAYS,
Jordan Joyce ( aka Jojo or Jordy) is the older daughter, I go back and forth if she's born in September or October either way she's born in 1997. I think she absolutely BEGGED for a younger sibling. Like she went to her first day of pre-k and immediately was like why does everyone have a baby sibling but me. Complained the whole time. Somehow finally got her way (her parents are pushovers and they wanted another baby) and thus she loves her baby sister more than anything.
When I said Nancy said copy/paste I meant it. Like not just looks, the ambitious weird girl thing too. She had a lowkey American Girl Doll obsession as a kid. (Karen did not help) She wants to be a cinematographer or documentarian. She does ballet, gymnastics and martial arts as a kid but only does ballet in her teens so she can have time for her "weird little movies" (and also mischief)
She also really loves reading like her goodreads/storygraph is STACKED. She support the NYC public library like it's no one's business. She also writes an extensive diary that she hides. I don't think she's necessarily the more responsible sibling but she gets away with more. Like no one suspects the quiet sibling (she's the quiet sibling btw) but she's the mastermind behind the cousin hijinks at the Wheeler's Florida timeshare. I think her favorite hobby is people watching in central park btw not in a rude way in an Anthropological study way. She thinks people are SO interesting.
Moving ON
Dylan Elizabeth (aka Dilly but only if you are a Hopper-Byers-Wheeler) , my beautiful beloved weird younger sibling. She's born in April of 2002. She's the loud sibling. She was OBSESSED with ratatouille as a kid. As a teen she stole a rat from the subway and brought it home as a pet. Also did ballet, gymnastics and martial arts as kid but plays soccer as teen.(Jonathan and Nancy are very confused on how they ended up with a soccer player but they never miss a game) She's got those Byers' music obsessed genes and makes Jonathan take her Vinyl digging every Thursday. Subsequently, she introduces him to phoebe bridgers (pharb dad Jonathan real 2 me)
Very into sculpture/performance art. Has been known to take home trash and try to put it in a sculpture or fix it. Plays the drums. She thinks her sister is the coolest person ever and will not be convinced otherwise. This is very much bc Jordan dyed El's dog hot pink once while Dylan was still very impressionable (She was 7, Jordan was 11). Absolute Pinball Wizard but is ONLY good at pinball all other video/arcade games escape her. I think she's not tiktok famous but def has a substantial following.
As far as Jopper as grandparents. Joyce is Nana and Hopper is PopPop OBVIOUSLY. Now, I usually headcanon that they move to upstate NY to be closer to Will & Jonathan in the city but either way. Jordan is the first grandbaby so she's doted on every single minute. Nancy frequently spends family gatherings being like where is my baby. Because Jordan is being passed around like a doll.
I think the girls def get along with Jopper Grandparents better than Wheeler grandparents. Because Karen is constantly putting them in matching outfits and other Karen things. (and Ted's just there in the recliner) Like they have a school break? They're going to Nana and PopPop's. But when they want something financially? They're going to Gigi Karen every time. Not super grandparent related, but family related they never let the Wheeler Boys win ANYTHING. Like the girls are so competitive with their cousins. (The Nancy jumps out) and they will cheat and scheme to get their way.

SO I HAVE BEEN TYPING UP ALL MY THOUGHTS AS I WATCHED HERE YA GO EPISODE 1 COMMENTARY IS POSTED A FEW HOURS AGO and as i watched i got more tired and less wanting to write stuff down

"burying their feelings"… come on. this whole storyline is just dumb. these kids are actually smart, barring spider of course. like they know by then that the patriarchy is bullshit, right? this whole "men biologically stronger thing", right? this whole "we're men we do this" thing.

(oh also just thinking about ca$h & how darren kinda almost believed chook and how that literally wouldn't make sense cuz he's asexual but also chook was being really traumatising assault-y in that moment so it kinda makes sense if that shook darren and they are prepared to believe the worst of ca$h)
watching this season i am actually full of anxiety half the time. this is rly frustrating. i rly hate this cumlords storyline like it just feels so ooc for many boys

there was no sasha redemption arc. she kind of stayed flat as a character, just self-centred. sad, but oh well.
after the whole cumlords storyline eased up i didn't feel so anxious anymore. glad voss got what he fucking deserved.

I know the topic of Krolia has already been brought up, but I kind of want to touch on it again, if you’re interested. (Disclaimer: I haven’t watched the show in a year.)
I like her, but at the same time, I don’t.
On one hand, she’s really cool – she’s this bamf, strong, good-looking, stoic woman who is also kindhearted and compassionate – like DAMN mamma Kogane knows what’s up! But on the other hand, she’s… a terrible mom. I think that her time with Keith didn’t do anything good for his other relationships, and that it most likely hurt his character growth and ironically made him more isolated. Sure, he “matured”, but he lost his spark in doing so. As an adult myself, I don’t believe that maturing and becoming a responsible adult means sacrificing that spark, but I digress…
She was an absentee mother who chose her mission over her family. And while that’s honourable and probably the “right” thing to do in the context of an endless intergalactic war, I don’t think that a child would forgive that so easily, let alone choose to follow in her footsteps and become a carbon copy of her. Keith suffered a lot of trauma as a kid, partially due to her choices, and has lingering abandonment issues as a result. If anything, I feel like the natural reaction for him would have been to resent her.
I don’t know if you’ve watched Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, but I liked how Josuke’s relationship to his father was handled. When he meets his dad for the first time, the audience can clearly see his mixed feelings – anger, resentment, anticipation, shyness – and there’s an entire episode dedicated to these two strangers trying to get over their complicated feelings and form a semblance of a bond. Afterwards, it feels like they both decide to just keep trying to be a father and a son, instead of speedrunning to this loving, familial bond.
The space whale was Voltron’s attempt at that, and I think we can all agree that that was a huge mistake and lazy writing. But even if there had been no space whale, I don’t think that would have made it better. I kind of wish Keith had chosen not to forgive her for leaving, and that he’d given her back the luxite blade she left him. I know it seems like a dramatic gesture, but it would have told the audience that we are more than our blood and our past. It would have symbolized him choosing to take control of his own destiny. It would have also told the audience that sometimes, it’s OK not to forgive those who hurt you and that you can still move on. That family can be found… not literally, but figuratively. What he was looking for was right there all along.
The best scenario for me? That, once the war is over and all is said and done, Keith finally accepts to give Krolia a chance. I would have simply left that relationship open-ended for the audience to interpret as they want.
I feel like maybe we brushed on Krolia, but never really delved into anything yet, at least not to this degree.
But I agree. With basically everything you've said here.
(Although unfortunately I have not watched Jojo's Bizarre Adventure because…well, honestly I just really don't like the art style and it's super distracting).
Here's the thing about Krolia.
She embodies one of my least favorite tropes in a weird sort of way.
Did you ever read a book or a series and then got really excited because you found out the author was writing a new series set in the same world with the same characters, just a couple years in the future?
I used to get excited for that, until I found out that apparently it's a sure thing that if the main character from the original series you grew to know and love has children in the following series…they are 100% guaranteed to be the person with the absolute least maternal/paternal nature in existence.
I despise that trope, because it devalues that original character by turning them into someone who abandons/ignores/never has time for their kids. And that's not a role model.
In a weird way Krolia fits the bill as if she had been the main character of a series prior to VLD, and now she was returning as Keith's estranged mom who was never really meant to be a parent in the first place.
And, well…
sigh…
Some people are not meant to be parents, just as much as some people are.
And that's all I'm going to say about that.
But back to the subject at hand, Krolia was never mother material.
But the one thing I always appreciated about her was that she was consistent. They never wrote her as maternal. She didn't swoop in and immediately become a housewife and a mom. She was a spy and a warrior, and that's what she was always going to be. And I can appreciate that her leaving Keith was a very in character decision for her.
And honestly would Keith's life have been better if she had stayed?
Knowing what we know of Krolia and how she was as a person…is that what Keith would have needed growing up? Would it have even made a difference?
I think the one thing we can all agree on, though, is that we wish we could have seen any kind of interaction or conversation with Keith and Krolia on the space whale. We wish we could have seen them actually talking it out and experiencing the memories together in the Quantum Abyss – learning about each other, and their lives apart.
And yes, a huge part of that should have been Keith's journey to (potentially begrudging) acceptance.
Should he have forgiven her for her abandonment? No. It literally was the root of all his issues and insecurities.
But could he have come to an understanding on why she did what she did, as he slowly learned who she was as a person? That's definitely possible, and would have been better for character development.

Hello there so you just got done reading/watching tokyo revengers and are now interested in the fandom side of things, and not just any fandom side but the tumblr fandom side! Well let me start off by saying welcome you'll either love it or hate it here so let's find out!
Ok so I imagine you've found the fandom through the tags and that's a great start! The tags are what i first used to figure out who to follow and what to reblog too. The "tokyo revengers" tag being the main one but also "tovrev" and "tokyorev" being fairly common too. And then of course we have the specific character/ ship tags. I recommend using the tags to find what you like and what you want to see more of and then following those blogs (of course make sure you stick to those blog's rules for example a lot want your age to be somewhere visible on your blog).
Once you've followed some blogs you now need to think about interacting with them. Don't be shy of the reblog button in particular! Whether it's someone's writing or art or takes or whatever this is what shows them you're into their content. Likes are still good too but a lot of blogs prefer reblogs. It's also how you interact and make friends with people a lot on here. I became moots with a lot of mine because we reblogged each others stuff.
Of course if you're in the fandom then you're probably also thinking about making your own content. Which is great! The tags could always use more content. Just some things to remember when doing this though, like make sure you use the correct tags. Tag spoilers! And of course the tokyo rev tags so people can actually find your stuff. Also don't steal anyones content! If that's not your art or your writing and you don't have permission then don't repost it. It doesn't matter if the person is on tumblr or not, it's not cool to repost that stuff and the person might not like it.
But most importantly of all have fun with it. This is supposed to be an enjoyable thing, hanging out in a fandom and discussing different takes is fun so enjoy it!

its very good and really just stands strong on its own
and yes! im actually currently reading through JJL atm, im workin through v14 right now, so i just finished reading the Vitamin C fight
and its very good, i like it A LOT more than sbr
it still has its icks, i cant ignore that and their some pretty big icks. but AT LEAST unlike SBR it isnt a major plot point that spans throughout the story and hinging on being "important to the story" its just a few unfortunate icks here and there.
BUT THE MAJORITY of the story is VERY fun and im REALLY enjoying it. i love the higashikatas so much their all freaks, i love that they all wont wow we love you josuke so much we wish you were our real son insteed of joshu <3 and then flushed him down the toilet <33
SOO mad Joshu has a cool fucking stand with a baller design, doesnt even deserve it...
i really do love the stand and ppl designs in this part. they look like they'll be very fun to translate into my art style if i ever get around to drawing them :))

aND this is one of the few parts that i geniuenlly knew VERY little about. i know Gappys deal and his whole idenity for the most part without the finer details, i know the name of some stands, i sorta understood the higashikata family set up, i know the name of the main villian and his stands name and i think i know its ability. and i knew the rock humans. But thats kinda it, i have NO idea a lot of the stuff thats going on as i go, i dont know a lot of characters, i dont know villian goals, or a lot of character backgrounds and development. im actually getting to go into this one pretty blind! and its so good because its a mystery set up and im like, really good part to not know whats going on. so exciting.

Ok so if you do not know what the fuck is going on in part 9 or just the entirety of jojo in general this is going to sound insane have fun.
I am literally so interested in what Usagi's role in the story is going to be. I think that it's interesting that he was rejected by not just Jodio, but also Dragona. The two Joestars on the team have had moments where Usagi has tried to get closer to them only to be shut down, which is kinda odd.
And even if this is just over thinking, Usagi was kinda foreshadowed in literally the first piece of JojoLands promotional art we got.
Bnuuy...
Why is Usagi of all characters referenced here while Dragona and Paco aren't?
And then there's Meryl Mei.
Meryl Mei was the one to hire Usagi, a drug addict, out of the blue and randomly place him on a VERY important mission. Why? At first glance Usagi is just a random kid with an addiction and a stand that's useless when he's alone, what does she see in him?
Also she's gorgeous ok sorry bye sorry.
I really really hope Meryl Mei takes a larger role in the story because she is very interesting to me, I think she has something going on.
My crack theory is that she'll be the main antagonists of this part.

ok, without spoilers if possible but i'm EXTREMELY curious about your "this is how fights work in hxh" tag under the recent post, could you explain?
(the post, for reference)
HxH, like many battle shonen, has its own unique power system, called Nen. It stands out for several things, among which being extremely complex with an at-times mathematical precision, and for the creativity of the powers it create. This is because, in essence, the superpowers it creates are designed by their users, and strength essentially comes from training, unlike a system like Jojo's stands where characters are born with their superpower. Following this, said abilities tend to reflect who each character is like as a person, the same way that say, you could guess a bit about a scholar based on what they are doing their master's thesis about: it's something you are dedicating years of your life into digging into, it usually means something personal! In the world of HxH, skilled artisans end up using that magic even if they don't know about its existence (the training method used by the heroes is a gatekept secret), because their concentration and dedication to their craft helps inherently develop it.
How this ties into battles is that superpowers wielded by the characters are rarely directly related to combat - unless your character has a reason to dedicate years of their life into being the best fighter, it's unlikely they'll have created their abilities around this. Instead, you get more indirect and creative things. I won't give examples because I wish to respect your request for no spoilers! So we will stay in theory only.
With this, fights pit out OP anime characters but who's OP anime abilities are not "hit hard", so combats immediately go to strategy planning. Unless you already know your opponent by heart, which isn't always the case, you cannot know what extremely niche thing they've achieved (and boy does it get niche) so the classic "mid fight description of strategy" monologues of HxH are famously long and ridiculous! Let's use OP as an example: assuming we read their bragging on Tumblr and therefore know everything about their ability, we can make a profile. First, their ability revolves around killing, and they compare it to death note, we can infer they're someone with muddy morals and a sense of superiority: Light of the show kills because he's got his god complex of knowing better than the rest of the world. Drawing skill also plays into this ability, so OP must be an artist and a confident one too, why else would you link the aim of your ability (killing things) to drawing skill level?
The other thing this post features that is shared by HxH and perhaps my favorite aspect are the limitations. At it's core Nen works by "I have decided I wish to do this thing and will concentrate hard enough to willpower it into existence" (tying in to your passions, personality, and skills), but just as artists can reach heights by limiting their tools, you can reach higher power levels by limiting what you can do. It's a self given vow: I will not let myself do X, and in return I'll do what I want to do more powerfully. Here, the limitation is about the intelligence level of the target, and the art you have to draw to kill them. These limitations are brought up mid fight as part of the strategy planning, often from the POV character of the moment about their own ability, as they have to judge the terrain before they strike!
This makes for a text heavy manga at times, which has been memed a whole lot, and laughably long fight blabla. Given that post immediately starts by describing a niche anime magic attack and took up my entire phone screen, the comparison sprung fast to mind...

I read a buncha stuff and it’s only been increasing over time and I like yapping about it so gonna start making a post like this every sunday (jump day) so I can dump all my thoughts for the week, stuff is in the order I read it in (best stuff last for the stuff that comes out on sunday), tho sometimes something will be at the top if I did a big catch up or there’s a new series
obviously there’s gonna be spoilers under cut sometimes tho not like I expect anyone to actually read these but and sometimes I don’t have much to say about stuff but yeah. tho since this is the first it’s mostly just my overall opinion on them (especially the jump stuff)

Dandadan Ch94
I was very unsure about dandadan in the first chap cause it made me a bit uncomfortable but it’s actually really good. it’s stupid how incredibly good the art is for a weekly series. it’s currently trucking along a training arc, so not much happened, but all that talk about spirals got my ttgl loving ass very interested in what okarun gonna do in the future
Jojo: The Hol Horse/Josuke spinoff Ch13
I actually started reading this right after I finished P8 cause “well it’s more jojo and there’s only like 11 chaps so not gonna take that long to catch up anyway” and it’s p decent for not being written by araki. as for this chap, ryoko finally saw kakyoin so it’s gonna end sooner than later, tho I obviously never expected it to be that long only 2 or 3 vols, tho I gotta say I’ve really enjoy the characterization they gave dio and showing him recruit his goons from part 3
One Punch Man Ch177
OPM is one of my favourite manga ever so I don’t think there’s much else for me to say. saitama fighting tatsumaki has been very pog, excited to continue seeing this fight, I love tatsumaki so all these recent chaps have been a treat, especially that panel in 176 where saitama squishes her against his chest OOF

it’s like an isekai gory survival game,it’s nothing to write home about but it’s also not bad enough to drop and I love danganronpa so I thought it could scratch that itch (it didn’t but oh well). as for the chap, I thought having leonidas and jeanne to go up against was already bad enough for the protags but now cao cao showed up too so good luck to them
Choujin X Ch35
the newest manga from tokyo ghoul’s author, chapters come out when they’re ready and sometimes they’re crazy long cause of that. it’s kinda hard to keep track of cause of that, and cause it’s ishida too lol, but it isn’t bad at all. this chap came after a 4 parter chapter, and it’s a 59 page one, calm down ishida. a big time skip huh? certainly didn’t expect it, chap was mostly the aftermath of the previous battle and then a fastforward in time to where we are now the final shot was cool tho
PPPPPP Ch70 (Finale)
from the start I never liked the art and never cared about any of the characters. I used to have it at a 5 but I bumped it down to 4 cause I didn’t care about the ending either, especially the rushing to “resolve” the other brothers’ stories in the last few chaps which even ignored some of them. the story was ok at best but way too confusing and hard to follow at some points, even if you didn’t read it weekly but all back to back. all the performances looked cool at least
Ichigoki’s Under Control!! Ch12
it’s a gag manga so it really depends on your sense of humour, but I think it’s really bad, and most people seem too since it always places so low in the rankings. last chap had a huge timeskip so hopefully it’s ending soon.
The Ichinose Family's Deadly Sins Ch14
another one I haven’t liked since the start. it’s way too edgy for my taste, recently it’s moved on from being edgy for the sake of it and actually doing stuff, but it also feels like it’ll end soon so I’m thankful for that. it has some cool panel composition sometimes tho
Ginka & Glüna Ch23
while the art, especially the action, is good looking most of the time the rest of the manga doesn’t really do anything special and it’s gonna get axed sooner than later so rip to the author
Fabricant 100 Ch11
another one that’ll prob get axed soon. the art isn’t bad, reminds me of fma tbh, but it’s p boring since the mc’s sidekick is so much more powerful than the enemies, the arc from the last few chaps was a bit more interesting and today’s chap wasn’t bad but still not enough to save it I think.

the art’s good but it has felt pretty generic so far, tho today’s chapter moved the plot along a bit so we’ll see, this isn’t on the jump mag so no risk of it getting axed too soon like some other stuff

the nisio series, which I always joke about being rough for the translator, that actually made the current translator quit lmao. while it’s not a series for everyone it’s doing alright in rankings so I hope it sticks around for a good while, I always enjoy getting some nisio stuff when it’s possible. today’s chap had a neat development too

it’s getting an anime in april! and it’s prob gonna adapt the whole manga cause it’ll end soon! it starts off as a comedy manga making fun of “magic school” series but it eventually becomes a very pog battle manga, while still retain some of it’s comedy. it’s currently on the battle against the final villain so not much more left.
The Elusive Samurai Ch99
Matsui’s 3rd series and 3rd hit wao! it’s only a matter of time til it gets an anime too so that’s an incredible track record for him. it’s a period piece with matsui’s usual flair to it, the art is very good, especially some of the more detailed panels he pulls off sometimes. today introduced some new characters and set up the mcs to get some power ups next chap, the big 100, so that was fun
Sakamoto Days Ch108
one of the best things on jump rn and probably getting an anime announcement sometimes this year. I like to describe it as “anime john wick”. the fight coreography, set pieces and everything is just some of the best in any manga, not even just now but that I’ve read ever. really hope it gets picked up by a studio that doesn’t half ass it cause it deserves the love.
Akane-banashi Ch51
currently my favourite series in jump by a long shot!! it’s crazy too cause when it started I was like “eh how are they gonna pull off a manga about rakugo”but they did, oh boy did they. it got recommendations from both oda AND anno on vol 1 and 2 so you know it’s something special. please read it if you haven’t yet. today’s chap was very good as usual, it was the backstory of akane’s main rival
Ayakashi Triangle Ch121
yabuki’s, of TLR fame, newest series, it doesn’t have as many lewd moments but it has more action to make up for it. I really enjoy it at lot but ofc I do it’s yabuki how could I not, his art is just a treat to look at and he knows how to make entertaining manga

this will probably reach like 3 people ever but i might as well work something out. any further input or reccomendations are appreciated
rn i have a shitload of characters but I'll list the ones that I'd probably be posting on here about first
Frongle
I guess this one is my main? I started using him for pfps on discord and tumblr as well as a dnd character. He came from the character creation screen of Star Trek Online after I decided to make a character that was the antithesis of all the overly muscular, handsome, superman lookin ass avatars everyone else was using.
He's short, chunky, pesto green with yellow streaks across his face, and wears an old-timey rich man's suit with a top hat, as well as some enormous goggles that help him see in the brightness of surface light conditions.
He sweats this unpleasant foul-smelling poisonous gunk and has limited abilities in psychic persuasion and short-range telekinesis.
He is a prolific thief and a constant nuisance to anyone who has to work with him. Despite his profound annoyance, he has also managed to avert multiple galactic crises, which has granted him diplomatic immunity and further fuels his pride and self-importance.
He flies around in a stolen carrier flagship that used to belong to a demon race that presented one of the aforementioned galactic crises. He uses the power of this ship to go anywhere and give anyone he doesn't like a big punch, a migraine, a planted piece of contraband material, or some other petty inconvenience.
in the dnd campaign he acquired a cane that allowed him to summon a jojo-style stand that just looked like him but larger called 「hooligan heaven」 that would stride towards a location (like that one video of the plague doctor cosplayer) with incredible force while blasting various bootlegs of gangster's paradise.
frongle also used psychic ventriloquism to make a fish (which he had slain via farting in it's river) float in the air and speak, and he convinced himself that the fish was actually alive, which led to it essentially becoming an embodied version of the unseen servant spell. that was a weird campaign.

(pirate cursed by a god of plenty to be transformed into a pumpkin-headed humanoid with extendable vine-arms and a big hook. made them for a game art/design project)
AIPI (Artificially Intelligent Private Investigator)
security android that wears sherlock-ish outfits and has a head that resembles a coffee machine. it started out as another star trek online character but also got used for a game art/design project. i have it written into a two seperate storylines, one where it wakes up in a city full of servitor robots where all the humans have gone missing, and another one where it acts as a space government agent who doesn't care much about it's job and hangs out with frongle under the pretence of following it's assignment of keeping an eye on him.

An assortment of golems that are part of my currently private worldbuilding project but I will probably post about some of them on here, especially if my intentions for that project change or if any version of it goes public in some way.
I have alot of details on how they work, where they came from, etc. and i can probably talk for hours about how it all works and it would probably lead into all the other lore about the world they're in. Currently I have:
Trip - a small Shardling (any golem twice the size of a human or smaller) that runs a bakery. It has a long, teardrop-shaped head and sloth-like bodily proportions
Pin - a Dustlet (the smallest kind of golem, a label that also includes non-sentient artefacts that run off the same magic as other golems) that resides in Trip's bakery and likes using it's tiny body as a rolling pin to help flatten dough.
Clobber - a Lesser Stone Golem (about the size of the drivable part of a truck) that closely aligned itself with a mortal race that became a powerful empire built on honour, craftsmanship and strength. It acts as a keeper of historical lore as well as an advisor to whoever is currently in charge.
Stack - a tall Shardling (about twice as tall as humans can be) that loves to build things and has a head shaped like a bowl.
Tumble - a stout, wheel-shaped Shardling (think like the size of a Monster Jam truck wheel) whose core was once trapped and being used as a grindstone by an ancient blacksmith.
Trod - a tortoise-like Greater Stone Golem (big enough to enjoy pretending it's a hill) that likes to sit somewhere and wait for someone to build a path near it so it can have someone talk to from time to time.
Clutch - another Greater Stone Golem that lumbers around the world and acts as a mobile sanctuary for Dustlets and Shardlings that are otherwise unable to fend for themselves, giving them the chance to safely explore the world without the threat of being abducted and experimented on by mages.
Yonder - a Stone Titan (fuckin HUGE, the LARGEST one that's still around) that was one of the first to be built and the only Titan that wasn't shattered into the pieces that formed all the Golems that wander the world. Big enough to inspire a legend that describes trees reaching an age where they decide to get up and walk around. It has a wide head (sort of like a hammerhead shark) and many-limbed quadrupedal body that imitates the form of it's long-extinct creators.

fucked up looking giant bowling pin lookin green sloth thing. most recent character so it doesn't have much lore yet. made it by photoshopping the wise mystical tree onto some concept art i found of uncle fungus from ice age and then stretching it really tall. I like his potential but it hasn't had much development yet.
Most of my characters go by either he, it, they or a combination of those. I will probably have some women enter this roster at some point but alot of these tend to come from interpretations of some aspect of myself. I recognise the importance of feminine representation but I am yet to confidently approach it in my character design.
For now it's a bunch of funky non-human characters that don't necessarily fit into the binary anyway and probably get whatever pronouns they may have more from how others would perceive them rather than how they see themselves.
I am continuing to write more characters and as I go more into the human/human-like races of my worldbuilding project there'll be a bit more gender variety.

OK i’m ready. Apparently summer, having to study for exams i dislike and most of all reading nice books that send me in hyperfixation with the characters give me IDEAS™.
After some time spent convincing myself to do it i’ve finally read The Three Musketeers and having loved it to FOLLY, i CLEARLY devoured also Twenty Years After and started the Viscount of Bragelonne (Athos, i love you, but we’re not talking of you, forgive me my man).
This new obsession tonight coupled with my ever present love for LOTR and Silm and since APPARENTLY heat goes up to my head, i thought:
Ok, here we have Aramis, ridiculously always good looking, even at like... 20 years from the first time we meet him he is THE SAME AS ALWAYS and in the Viscount for the little i know for now he didn’t age much either, Devilishly good with horses AND swords (eggrazziearcazzo, you may say, he’s a MUSKETEER) with almost ZERO impulse control (Athos works as impulse control for them, actually) but GREAT cold blood, can apparently sing quite well, some disregard for rules and some great agility and effort in actually always managing to break one of two of those and... oh look, all the boxes check and hear me out.

I talked about this with my darling @tairin, my nice sis who i love and thank very much for being always there to hear me rambling about my obsessions and not having killed me yet. And she is even more of a genius than i suspected! (@joachimnapoleon please don’t kill us) She made me give a second check to who ELSE checked all the boxes and here, the illumination.

Guys i just needed to vent out a bit. We can’t find my cat. we looked into the house, outside, all over the sort-of-village where i live (i live in the country) and we can’t find it. Does any of you have an idea of why a cat can be disappeared in such a way? I just know that a moment she was inside and the other she was nowhere to be seen. I just needed to vent out a bit ‘cause i think i’m panicking just as much as before when we where actively looking for her. Do you have any idea of why a cat can just... fly and boh... i don’t even know if she actually is outside the house, even if i looked everywhere in. She’s injured under her neck, she had a dermatitis that we can’t manage to heal, even if she is way better than some months ago. sorry, just some venting out i don’t know how to cope with this

Sooo guys. Some time ago i got a book, ‘Gioacchino Murat e l’Italia meridionale’ which was introduced to me by @joachimnapoleon and after reading it I thought of making a post about it. Hope you will enjoy it!
So let’s get started! In the third part of the book we have a focus on the people who actually governed Naples, starting with the King and the Queen and proceeding with the ministers, describing how their personalities fitted in their roles and how they actually got their work done; this post will be about our favourite King of Naples, Joachim Murat. (the mistakes in the translation are entirely mine)
