Here's a handful of scene studies! Drawing a certain baby bantha recently made me want to revisit the scenes from the script exerpt where Knox first meets the ottaburas. So here he is meeting all sorts of animal friends, including seeing baby Thea for the first time.

Saw this GORGEOUS solar eclipse photo taken by Joshua Cripps, and immediately thought “This, but with Obi-Wan and his Eopie”. Lol. So i drew it!

there's a particular story to how Eopie got her name. on her first ever mission planetside, she was caught out while helping a patient in a city devastated by seppie attacks; she'd traveled just past the edge of the perimeter and lent her speeder to a civilian so they could reach the city center quickly and seek treatment at the base established there, but had a badly wounded patient who needed more than field medicine and now no way to transport them. however, it so happened that this individual had an eopie (creature) named Roony, short for Meiloroons. so Eopie (medic) traveled across the city, leading Roony the eopie (creature) with her patient on Roony's back. and it was a 6-hour trek due to the debris & rubble further and the need to not jostle the patient too much. and Eopie (medic) developed a respect for Roony, and by extention eopies (creatures) as beings, for being sturdy and hardworking and never losing their footing. by the end of the mission, Roony had transported several more patients and many civilian children who needed some joy. Eopie chose to name herself after a "beast of burden" that she saw as a sort of ideal; eopies (creatures) can be stubborn and crotchety, but overall are helpful beings who can withstand a great deal, having adapted well to tatooine's harsh clime (fun fact: at an average height of 1.75 meters according to wookiepedia, eopies (creatures) are almost exactly as tall as the clones- poetic cinema etc).

Eopie's surname came later. the word udesii is a Mando'a word meaning 'calm down/relax,' and Eopie, in her language-learning quest, started saying this to her patients. it became a staple of her bedside manner and, although the idea was originally a joke, the rest of her medbay staff decided that her surname should be Udesii, since she said it so often (not as a teasing thing, but a genuine recognition of the fact that she is always comforting & calming her patients and how important their safety is to her). (it's not uncommon for vode to name each other, but a group consensus is rare, especially about a senior officer; Eopie's status as CMO gives choosing a name for her a bit more importance.)

ultimately, Eopie's name expresses a lot about herself and the way the people in her life view her. it's also something that is completely her own, and no one can take it away.

My favorite detail about the obi wan show is definitely that they went out of their way to like design special pack saddle accoutrements for obi wan’s eopie… only to deadass throw a normal English saddle on top of it

As with every show I watch, I am unreasonably distracted with wondering who is taking care of the pet while the hero goes on their adventure.

Today, it is Obi-Wan’s eopie. Who is feeding him his lil daily chunk of meat? Is it Owen? I need a scene devoted to this.

The most upsetting part of the Obi-Wan show (a refreshingly un-upsetting show so far) has been learning that Eopies can eat meat

STAR WARS EPISODE I: The Phantom Menace 01:10:09

A few more podracers here that don’t look like they belonged to any of the racers in the Boonta Eve. Middle may be a KV9T9-B Wasp like Clegg Holdfast’s, but a different turbine.

The podracer on the far right I can’t place, it seems to have some “spikes” sticking out of its air intakes, which would be a fun parallel to real-life chariots in gladiatorial games.
