Let Me Help (Thomas Hewitt x OC)

(Dottie helps Thomas with his injuries. Thomas is shy.)

"Alright Tommy, drop your pants." Dottie said, setting the first aid kit on the ground. Thomas looked up at her like she was crazy.

"Don't look at me like that, how else am I supposed to get that sickle out your leg ? If I leave it in there, it's gonna get infected." Dottie said sternly placing her hands on her hips.

A victim got wise and decided to fight back, stabbing Thomas through his leg with a nearby sickle, incapacitating him. The victim would've gotten away if Hoyt wasn't nearby to round him up. Dottie, was in charge of taking care of Thomas, while Hoyt put the meat in the basement.

"Do you want me to just cut yer pants off instead ? Luda Mae won't be happy if she make you new pants instead of just cleaning and mending these."

Thomas let out a silent huff and shook his head, as he began to undo his belt, fumbling with the buckle. When the belt was undone, he slowly and carefully removed his pants as to not irritate the wound.

"There. Was that so hard ?" Dottie sat herself between Thomas' legs to get a look at the wound. She hummed in thought. "Alright, Tommy, ima need you to bear with me, this is gonna hurt like hell." She took some pliers out of the first aid kit and slowly began to remove the sickle.

She could hear Thomas grunt and moan in pain, trying to keep himself together. If someone were to hear from outside of the room, they might have gotten the wrong idea.

Once the sickle was removed, Dottie began to clean the wound, which made Thomas hiss in pain, from the sting of the alchohol.

"There there, Tommy, I'm almost finished." She said, as she began to wrap the wound with bandages. "There you are, good as new." She said, finishing up the wrapping. She then kissed the bandaged wound. "And a kiss to make it heal faster."

Thomas gripped his shirt tightly, looking away from Dottie, so that she wouldn't see how flustered he was.

"You can pull your pants back up, Tommy, just be careful when you do." Dottie said, standing up. "Get lots of rest, kay ? And if Hoyt gives you shit for resting, I'll handle him." She pet Thomas' head before skipping off. "I'm gonna go let Luda Mae know you're alright and I'll also take care of the meat !"

Oh how'd she really take care of the meat. She wanted to get her vengeance on that no good son of a bitch who dared to hurt her Tommy.

Thomas only let out a quiet grunt as a response, twisting his fingers into his shirt, before getting up to pull his pants up, trying not to think about how Dottie was the first woman to see him in his britches and how she was willing to "take care" of the meat for him.

Now he had no choice but to take Luda Mae's advice and wife that woman up, immediately.

no okay i will fucking say it. i don't like dottie lasso. she's manipulative & toxic & passive aggressive & borderline narcissistic.

in every scene, in every line she says? it's all to undermine ted. she doesn't respect ted, doesn't care for him unless it's to boost her ego or to boost her image of Mother. she drags him down to make herself feel Tall, or at the very least she drags him down to justify the way she feels Small. "you think you're better than me? remember your roots" type beat.

ted's on edge the moment she gets there. is it any wonder why? he has to walk on eggshells with her because she leaves him guessing and whatever he guesses will always be wrong. for instance, ted picking up her suitcase yet she waits until the last minute to say "not on the bed!" right before ted lets go of the handle.

she says one thing but means another ("wish i went to the game"). she guilt trips him ("ooh is it all my fault?"). she makes shit up about him to humiliate him to his team (the story about him with the car/bruce springsteen/etc). she purposefully does the opposite of what he asks (mae in the pub). she has these passive aggressive slights disguised as care (the newspaper clippings on top which she 100% planned, the way she asks if he has any of his episodes still but hates the fact he's in therapy).

it's insidious too, the way she charms the team. the way she charms rebecca and trent. everyone loves her, how could they understand why ted's upset with her? not lottie dottie! she'd never hurt a soul. she seems like such a good mom. ted, you're just like her!

she's actively taking advantage of ted's good standing in a covert way to paint ted in a light he doesn't want to be associated with. he could shout about practice all he wants, but while his mother is the center of attention, does anyone actually listen?

then when ted confronts her? he tries to meet her at a neutral level. "thank you but fuck you". but what does she immediately do? she drags him down to her insecure lows by more or less calling him a hypocrite. the entire time she's there not once does she bring up henry unless it's convenient for her to. henry is the only leverage she has towards ted, and she knows it. she catches ted in a vulnerable state and takes advantage of it. "your son misses you".

she does not give a fuck about her son! she doesn't! she went to the club to poison the water, she has no interest in actually supporting ted or the team. and then! and then! in a show of narcissistic manipulation, she blames that on ted! "you always get so nervous" and "i need to catch up on sleep". ma'am you haven't seen your son in 3 years at least and you don't want to spend time with him??? and then to compensate for it by cooking a meal? fuck off, it's so superficial.

but that's what these types of mothers do. for every stab wound there's a bandaid to cover it. you can't be mad at the knife-wielder if they're also the medic. "they must've not meant it since they're doing xyz for me".

they'll say "sorry" and the argument fizzles out exactly how it happened at the end there because technically you can't say anything else! they apologized, didn't they? let's not hold grudges now. look! see! she complimented your therapy even though she hates it. that's progress right? yeah there's no deep heart-to-heart, no actual repair there, but maybe one day, right? right?

for her to leave a note without saying goodbye? how could ted be mad at her for doing that if she made his favorite bread? she has him on an emotionally manipulative yo-yo.

and the role reversal? the way she plays helpless at the beginning? again, zero respect for ted by dropping in out of the blue with no prior warning. he's forced into this carer role with her. he's a fixer & a people pleaser because that's how she conditioned him to be on the off chance she'd reward him with (superficial) connection

Continuing my perhaps delusional argument/hope that Ted permanently returning to Kansas is just a red herring, I was thinking about our references and callbacks this episode. Specifically, how they don't paint Kansas in a positive or unique light.

The Wizard of Oz pinball game is definitely the most on-the-nose nod to his return, yet in the scene itself Ted is literally refusing to play.

When we get a closeup on the machine we're shown Dorothy's house spinning out of control. That is, a moment when she leaves Kansas for the bright world of Oz, not the ruby slippers of her return.

Similarly, Beard loses his game before Ted walks over. The ending of the Wicked Witch is one wherein Dorothy (Ted) does not go back home.

(I'm not entirely sure what to do with this one yet, but having Mae quote "This Be the Verse" is certainly A Choice. Though I think the overall message -- people, specifically parents, will inevitably hurt their kids -- is an uplifting and very relevant argument within Ted Lasso's heartfelt context -- ergo we should acknowledge that we'll never be perfect while still striving to improve -- but that last line? Oof. "Get out early as you can / And don't have kids yourself"? That's not the proposed solution I'd expect for an episode that was sending Ted back to his son for good. Obviously Ted already has Henry, but it may be significant that Mae eschews a generic 'You can do it!' argument for a far more nuanced and harder to swallow conclusion, perhaps one that heralds Ted's controversial decision to stay separated from Henry for at least part of the year.)

(Also let's toss in the fact that Dottie uses a football metaphor -- not American football -- to describe how Ted needs to parent: sometimes you lose, sometimes you win, mostly you just tie, and all you can do it keep playing.)

Finally, we've got references to both BBQ sauce and sunflowers via Ted's WiFi password and the bread Dottie bakes him, Ted's "favorite."

Half a season ago these would have been straightforward references to Kansas, positive ones at that. However, post-S3E6 (literally titled "Sunflowers") Ted has both of these beloved objects tied to the UK instead. He enjoys the beauty of Van Gogh's Sunflowers in the Amsterdam museum and finds a BBQ sauce so good that it inspires him to (hopefully!) win it all in his English sport.

It might just be me reading into things because I'm looking for my preferred ending to the series... but also I don't think I am because it's weird that Kansas is continually framed as a negative this season. Ted is still super awkward with Michelle. Her new boyfriend is kinda awful and likewise makes him incredibly uncomfortable (understandably). The Wizard of Oz references aren't targeting the happy aspects of the story, or even the parts about going home. The symbolic references to Ted's beloved state (sunflowers, BBQ sauce, the little green army men) have all been integrated into his life here. We get a whole episode about how once Ted learns to focus on Henry instead of Michelle, Henry has a fantastic time living in London. Hell, this episode opens with Ted enthusiastically greeting everyone he passes on his walk, a beloved member of the community, a staple of this town... and then his mood turns sour when he hits his Kansas-sprung mom.

Obviously Ted is undergoing some last-minute growth when it comes to being a father to Henry (and healing the rift with Dottie), but I think Ted's in-universe improvement is misleading, implying that because he may think he needs to return to Kansas, that's actually how the story is going to end. If that were the end-goal though, I would expect the subtext to have a more hopeful, optimistic feel to it; something that not just implies Ted's return, but argues why he would want to outside of Henry.

If none of that is relevant... that's going to be even worse for me than Ted just going back to Kansas. A Kansas ending framed as a positive is far from my preference, but it's (arguably) a strong conclusion to Ted's journey. A Kansas ending after all these implied negatives both isn't my preference and feels like more objectively bad writing.

Music (and movies) and queerness in Ted Lasso. Particularly in relation to Ted (and Trent)

I want to start with a line from the show that contains the word music.

“If music be the food of love, play on. Give me excess of it.” Said by Mae to Ted in a scene where a few moments later Trent walks up to him after leaving his date to go talk to him. It’s a quote from the VERY queer Shakespeare play “Twelfth Night”. The line implies that the speaker wants to be fed more, to the point of it making them sick so that they won’t desire, love in this case, anymore. Because he’s unhappily in love with someone who he can’t have (Michelle?). BUT he falls in love with someone else later. And in the context of Ted Lasso, this line just so happens to be said right before they show us that Trent is there. Ted also answers Mae, not by asking if she’s asking him if he wants more but “If that’s your fancy way of asking if I want another one, you guessed right”.Another love?And according to James Lance, it was when he was on his way to film this scene that he found out that Trent is gay and that he is “with that guy” as he himself puts it. A man who has a moustache very similar to Ted’s and wears similar clothes.

(Also, this happens in season 2 episode 7. In season 3, episode 7 Ted talks about the red string/thread of fate myth while Trent wears a red bracelet and they are connected by red several times and season 3, episodes 7 and 11 are connected via “You’ve got Mail”, the opening scene in episode 7 being a “tribute” to the movie, and there are other smaller references. And the team, and Trent, watching the movie in episode 11. AndTrent also wears the bracelet in episode 11, an episode I’ll bring up later in this post).

Now, let us get to the music.

Bruce Springsteen If you google “Bruce Springsteen queer” you get a lot of results discussing queerness in his songs and so on, so to put him in this post is a must.

Bruce Springsteen is brought up by Dottie in season 3 episode 11. She tells Trent about the time Ted got onstage and danced with Bruce Springsteen (which turns out to be a lie) but the connection to Springsteen is still there, because Ted did get onstage with a Bruce Springsteen cover band and sang with them. So, we’ve established a connection between Ted (and Trent) and Bruce Springsteen.

Let’s connect it to something else that happened in the episode. They watch “You’ve Got Mail” starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan (I’ll come back to “You’ve Got Mail” later, the important part here is Tom Hanks). Ted states that the superior Nora Ephron/Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan movie is “Sleepless in Seattle”,a movie about a reporter falling for a single dad simply because of the way he talks about things and what he talks about. He brings the movie up twice, once to say that it’s superior and once telling someone to watch it. Now what does “Sleepless in Seattle” have to do with Bruce Springsteen? “Sleepless in Seattle” came out in 1993, as did “Philadelphia” a movie about a gay man played by Tom Hanks. Springsteen made a song called “Streets of Philadelphia”, specifically for this movie. A bit farfetched? Eh, perhaps, but I’m including it anyway.

So, in this episode Trent, a gay man, is told by Ted’s mum that Ted once went onstage with Bruce Springsteen and that’s the story he needs to confirm straight away. He practically skips towards Ted’s office to ask about it. Why that story? Surely she told him about other things too. And he heard the stories she told the team. But this was the story he was excited to get confirmed. A story about Ted’s connection to an artist that has several queer connections and who can also be connected to something else that is brought up in the episode.

Queen Let’s get the obvious out of the way. Their lead singer was queer.

And I talked about Fat Bottomed Girls and Queen/Freddie/Brian in THIS post. And I talk a little bit about the connection between Ted and Freddie Mercury in THIS post.

Queen has been used a lot throughout “Ted Lasso”, a lot more than I remembered. When I went back to look at the soundtrack for season 1 and 2, I found quite a few Queen songs. I also discovered that two of the trailers for season 2 had Queen songs in the background. “Under Pressure” (which also features David Bowie, another queer artist) and “We Will Rock You”.

Ted talks about having watched Queen at Live Aid on TV when he was younger, in season 2, episode 8 (that episode is called “Man City”, Ted mentions both Queen and Freddie Mercury. Season 3 episode 11 is called “Mom City” and Freddie Mercury is brought up again and a Queen song plays.) “Tear It Up” plays in season 2, episode 2 “We Are the Champions” plays in season 2, episode 9 “Fat Bottomed Girls” are both mentioned and played in season 3, episode 11 And, while not a Queen song, “Fought & Lost” by Sam Ryder featuring Brian May is also played in season 3, episode 11.

But let’s focus on “Fat Bottomed Girls”. Now, I’ve already talked about it in THIS post, that I also linked above. So, I won’t go over all that again. But a little recap, “Fat Bottomed Girls” is linked to “Bicycle Race” which is sometimes seen as a metaphor for being bi. They were both on the same single and they reference each other. The song is brought up by Higgins when he tells Keeley and Rebecca that Freddie, when he briefly owned Richmond in 1980, tried to make that song Richmond’s song but that it didn’t work. Rebecca then brings up that her dad went to art school with Freddie and that according to him if you would have asked Freddie what his greatest talent was, he would have said “flipping straights”.

We’ve already established Ted’s connection to Queen. And we’ve heard Ted refer to himself as straight just a few episodes ago (episode 7, and I’ve already pointed out the connection between episodes 7 and 11, this is another connection) now we get to hear Rebecca say that Freddie Mercury’s biggest talent was “flipping straights”. Ted is, as far as I know, and I’ve checked, the only person who refers to himself as straight, in the whole show. Not a single other character does that. Once in the Christmas special, once in season 3, episode 7, that’s two times. Will the rule of three apply here? Will he say that he’s straight a third time or will he subvert expectations or if you will, flip the script and say that he’s something else?

Dolly Parton Trent has worn a Dolly Parton shirt twice. Dolly Parton is a queer icon. In season 3, episode 11 Beard feels the need to call dibs on Dolly’s part in “Islands in the Stream” at karaoke. Implying that Ted perhaps snags that part for himself a lot of the time. Ted then walks away singing “Islands in the Stream”. Yet another queer connection between Trent and Ted via music.

Harry Nilsson/ (Judy Garland) Back to “You’ve got Mail”. The last scene of “You’ve got mail” ends with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan meeting up and they kiss while Harry Nilsson’s cover of “Somewhere over the Rainbow” plays in the background. We’re shown that scene, not just by witnessing the characters watching it, but by it filling our own screen for a while. “Somewhere over the Rainbow” is of course from “The Wizard of Oz” originally, sung by Judy Garland. A queer icon. The connection to “The Wizard of Oz” and Ted Lasso has been brought up before. But in this episode, it’s very front and centre. Ted is standing at “The Wizard of Oz” pinball machine, staring at the spinning house. And of course, Ted’s connection to Kansas is always there. And it’s brought up in a very important way this episode, with his mother more or less telling him he should go home to Kansas.

So, we have a well-established connection between Ted and Kansas and “The Wizard of Oz”. Let’s talk more about Judy Garland, Dorothy, the original singer of “Somewhere over the Rainbow”. As I mentioned above, Judy Garland was and is a queer icon. And “The Wizard of Oz” was and is a big part of the queer community. Then we have the “Friend of Dorothy” euphemism, a way to recognise other queer people, and it’s strongly associated with Judy Garland’s Dorothy. In episode 11 we are introduced to Ted’s mother, Dottie, which is a nickname/shortening of Dorothy. Another very clear queer connection to Ted.

And let us also look at James Lance who has said that there is a story arc for Trent’s shirts. And he wore a t-shirt with Dorothy’s ruby slippers to an event that is connected to Ted Lasso. And when asked why he was wearing that shirt, why he chose to honour Dorothy. It feels like he’s deflecting when he says “Well, every good character’s got to have a good pair of shoes, right. And these are surely, surely,the best pair of shoes in showbiz. So, you know, they get their own t-shirt. There aren’t many shoes to do that.” That’s suspicious. And we now know that James has had a lot of input into Trent’s costume, with him suggesting things and getting a thumbs up a lot of the time. He clearly thinks that clothes are important and can send a message. And he chose to wear a Dorothy shirt to a red carpet. When we now know that the eleventh episode of season three had several heavy references to “The Wizard of Oz”.

And to go back to Harry Nilsson. A song sung by him was on the soundtrack for Midnight Cowboy, starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight, a queer movie. (And let’s remember that Trent himself said that Dustin Hoffman would probably play him in a movie).

Honourable mention

Mumford & Sons/Marcus Mumford

Why would I add Mumford & Sons and Marcus Mumford? Because Marcus Mumford made the theme song to Ted Lasso and the instrumental songs for the soundtrack, they’ve also used both Mumford & Sons and Marcus Mumford songs in the show. And the band have a connection to Jason Sudeikis. He was in the official music video for Mumford & Sons’ song “Hopeless Wanderer”, inthat video he clearly plays a version of Marcus, and he kisses another man in it. I think that deserves an honourable mention.

So, to sum it all up, there is queer subtext in the music and the artists that they mention and play in Ted Lasso, and these are just the ones that I personally can connect to Ted (and Ted/Trent). I don’t know if it is a coincidence, but I feel like there is way too much to just be a coincidence. To borrow part of Trent’s line “Through thousands of imperceptible moments, all leading to their inevitable conclusion.” Number four, that doesn’t even matter (but it actually does), LOVE. Queer love.

Peaches (Thomas Hewitt x OC)

(Dottie finds a healthy peach tree in their deserted town)

"Thanks for comin' with me, Tommy, Now Hoyt won't think I'm crazy." Dottie said, handing the large basket to Thomas. "The tree is just around the bend of this old farm house, just follow me."

Dottie had been walking around, scavenging for hours for at least something she or the Hewitt family could use, and had found herself way farther than she usually went, at an abandoned farmhouse.

The farmhouse had only rusty, old tools inside and animal bones. But behind the farmhouse, she found a miraculous treasure. A strong, healthy, peach tree that had managed to sustain itself somehow. She had squealed with glee, when she found it and immediately ran the 30 minutes back to the Hewitt house, just to tell them about the peach tree.

Hoyt immediately dismissed her, claiming that the sun must've fried her brain and was making her see stuff, because nothing had grown in that area for decades, except for weeds.

Monty had reluctantly agreed, as did Luda Mae, although Luda Mae said it would be a nice thought but insisted she lie down and drink some water.

Jedidiah had expressed interest in seeing the peach tree, since he had never had peaches before, but Hoyt told him to shut his trap and that he didn't want to hear anymore nonsense about the fabled peach tree.

Dottie had grabbed a nearby laundry basket and stormed out of the house, insisting that she'd come back with a basket full of peaches and that she wasn't gonna share them with anybody, just because they doubted her.

She hadn't noticed that Thomas had followed her out of the house until a few minutes after. Although he was a large man, he was quite light and quiet on his feet. She pouted and asked if he was there to call her crazy too but he shook his head. He just wanted to make sure that she was safe.

She smiled and took his hand, and they were off on their adventure.

Now, here they were, Dottie leading him behind the old farmhouse, to finally see the tree.

"Ta-da !" Dottie shouted, as she pointed to the tree. Thomas squinted his eyes and could actually see a round fruit growing from the tree. The tree looked really healthy, which surprised him.

"I wasn't crazy, these are fresh peaches ! Now give me a hand so we can fill our basket up !"

Dottie started going on about how she couldn't wait to enjoy them and that they'd find some uses for the peaches and that she couldn't wait to see the look on Hoyt's face when she proved him wrong.

Thomas only watched her, a small smile gracing his lips, as she rambled about how much she loved peaches. He then got to work, helping her pick peaches off of the plentiful tree.

Hours had passed and it was the late evening now. The basket was full of enough peaches to feed a whole family. Or, just one Thomas and a Dottie.

The two sat peacefully under the tree, watching as the sun was starting to set, Dottie leaning on Thomas.

"Thanks for your help, Tommy." Dottie said, leaning up to press a kiss on Thomas' cheek. "You're the only one who I can really depend on."

Thomas was glad that his mask could hide how flustered he was.

Dottie soon pat his thigh and stood up, Thomas standing with her.

"Alright, let's go home and rub it in everyone's face that I was telling the truth !" Dottie said with a giggle. "Hoyt's gonna flip his lid !" She then looked up at Thomas, who was carrying the basket on his hip. "Let's keep the location of the tree a secret, alright ? It'll just be a secret spot for you and me and no one else."

Thomas grunted in agreement.

Dottie slammed the basket of peaches on the kitchen table, much to the family's shock.

"Well I don't believe it..." Luda Mae said, taking off her glasses and wiping them, before putting them back on, to make sure what she was seeing was real. "I must apologize for doubting you, Dottie Dear."

"Apology accepted, Luda Mae." Dottie said with a grin. "Now let's wash these things up and see what we can do with em, I can make a nice peach jam, peach tea and peach pie, ooh, even peach cobbler !" She turned towards Thomas. "Wouldn't that be nice, Tommy ?"

Thomas nodded, thinking about how nice it would be to drink some ice cold peach tea after a hard day's work, imagining Dottie in a cute apron, pitcher in hand, calling him inside to cool off. He almost shuddered at the thought.

"You've finally made yerself useful, girl, you should tell us where you found that tree." Hoyt said reaching for one of the peaches, only to yelp when Dottie smacked his hand away. He bolted up to retaliate "Why you little bitch-"

Thomas stood behind Dottie, glaring daggers at Hoyt, making the elder man reluctantly sit back down. Dottie crossed her arms.

"You don't get any for doubting me earlier, the rest of the family can have their fill, but you get none until you learn to apologize." Dottie said, hands on her hips. "And I ain't tellin' you where the tree is, that's for me and Tommy to know since he actually helped me." She then turned towards Thomas, a smile on her face. "C'mon Tommy, let's go wash the peaches off, I'm gonna make a nice peach jam that goes well with toast and biscuits, that wild wheat I scavenged and planted is growing in nicely so we'll be able to make our own bread !"

Thomas heaved the basket up, following Dottie to the kitchen, as she continued to talk about how the process would be long but absolutley worth it.

Hoyt grumbled and crossed his arms.

"Whatever, I didn't want any of yer nasty peaches anyways."

Another set of teams for a Pokemon AU, but unlike the last few ones I posted of what Pokemon characters would have more generally, this is a classic game-style AU where the characters are the gym leaders/elite four/champion.

I did end up putting a decent amount of time thinking about this, so if anyone wants to know why I picked certain types or certain Pokemon for certain characters let me know.

After Gobias had finished talking to Zelda, he wanted to go into the lab for a moment. But shortly after he opened the door, a certain scent hit him. And it was clear what was going on here. He quickly closed the door behind him again… "Are you serious, Susan?"/ "mp-hh, come on, relax…"/ "Are you crazy, where did you get that stuff?"

"hmm, let me think… I still had a bit of stock. Didn't think the stuff would still be good after 25 years…"/ "Cut the bullshit and get rid of the crap, okay?"/ "Don't make a wave now, damn it, it's just weed and not heroin. Scientifically and medically speaking, it's actually pretty good for me at the moment…"/ "Ow man".

"You don't have to explain to me the effects of cannabis and what it's good for and what it's not good for… Still, I don't want it in the house"/"What are you scared of? That your girlfriend will take something? It would be a fun round, the four of us, having a good time…"/ "Now stop it, okay, and just put it back where you got it from or burn it right away. And turn on the ventilation for a few minutes, man!".

"You've always been a do-gooder ironic undertone, that's really exhausting. You have no idea what it's like, this pain…you don't have any children"/ "maybe no children, but friends who are important to me… Maybe you should talk to your husband sensibly. "/ "h-hh…aah, he doesn't listen to me"/ "because he can't hear it anymore, Susan".

"Susan, I just want the best for everyone here, okay?"/ "I know, but… I'm her mother, I… I'm sure she's… She's fine, wherever she is, but she…"/ "How much have you smoked?"/ "Just two…"/ "You're going to lie down now, okay? And later, Zelda will bring you something to eat. A big appetite is one of the side effects"

Susan smiled with one corner of her mouth. "now I know why I stopped back then… I had put on 15 kilos…"/ well, certainly not just because of that, hnhn. Please, don't do that, okay?". "h-hh… Yes, okay…. I'll put it as far away as possible"/ "good… And then we'll have to talk about something important later, because my girlfriend had a nice idea".

Gobias was still a little tense when he went upstairs. But when he met Zelda, who was standing in front of him with the plush giraffe in her arms, everything almost disappeared into thin air again. Yes, she was young, and perhaps sometimes still too young in her thoughts. But he liked that, because even he sometimes felt like a boy who had missed out on something in his childhood. "Look who's here".

"Hi, Dotty. I don't want to annoy you, but can I have Zelda to myself for a moment?". Zelda disguised her voice to let the little animal speak on her behalf. "What do you want from her?"/ "To talk to her… Without words." Zelda had to smile a little, because she knew what he meant. "How does that work?"/ "hehe, I'll explain that to you when you're older".

In this house, it is also possible to be alone together. And every now and then you need to communicate with each other in a different way.…we leave them alone now..
