One thing I really love about the Doctor and Donna being platonic friends is that they aren't just platonic because Donna has her own partner.

It was made clear pretty soon after she started traveling with them that she wasn't at all romantically interested in the Doctor not because there was someone else but simply because she just didn't like them in that way.

And I'm happy about that because I feel like most media thinks that there has to be some deeper reason for why a woman wouldn't be interested in a masc/male presenting character especially if she's close to him. They don't believe that it can be as simple as her just liking him better as a friend.

When they say that you and your best friend can go months without talking and nothing changes they don't mean you and me. They're talking about the Doctor and Donna.

One went through three faces, a wife, emotional growth, trauma and centuries of new adventures. The other got married, had a daughter, bought a house, won the lottery and donated to charity. And still, the moment Donna remembers who she is, the moment she's whole again, those are the best 55 seconds of her life, with all her memories and her best friend. And then a couple of hours later at most, with no catching up whatsoever, Sylvia is doing preemptive damage control.

Also, five minutes unsupervised and they've freaked out together, had a heart to heart and blown up the TARDIS.
