So I've finished the 13th Doctor's seasons and I was really worried starting out because I've heard a lot of people say the writing is shitty. But now that I'm done... I don't really have anything to be angry at tbh. Like I'm not an expert reviewer so I don't know, it probably is more egregiously bad than I think it is but it just feels like... Nothing. Only like a couple of the episodes have left big impressions on me. A lot of them are just freaking boring and it really comes down to the fact that the characters are so freaking dull.

I saw one person say "they just split one personality four ways with Graham getting most of it" which I think perfectly describes my feelings towards them. Ryan and Yaz have virtually nothing to their characters except for some factors that are barely addressed like Ryan's dyspraxia and issues with his father and Yaz's crush on the Doctor. Like hell even freaking Dan feels like more of a character than them somehow.

And the Doctor herself... Obviously I'm not blaming Jodie Whittaker, she did really well with what she was given, but to me at least she just feels like a toned down version of the 11th Doctor. And like I'm just really disappointed because I was kinda excited to see her Doctor because I had heard that the writers intentionally wrote her as autistic which I thought would be interesting since all the other Doctors were just accidentally written that way. And I can see the seeds of some interesting plotlines. Like they use the Timeless Child plotline as a sort of explanation for why she was and always felt so different from other people of her species and essentially why she acts so autistic. They could've used this as an opportunity to really analyze her behavior and you know create some allegories for neurodivergence or just have her companions explicitly acknowledge how the way she acts aligns with autism. But no they don't do that and obviously a big part of all this writing is the fact that they have a shorter amount of episodes but they don't know how to properly use that time. They mention how the Doctor is socially awkward and doesn't really know who she is anymore but they don't properly delve into her psyche like in previous iterations. And this is because again they have three companions so they have to give all of them something to do but again because there are three of them neither of them can get a great deal of focus either and just ugh.

Like the Doctor should've just had Graham, and maybe his wife Grace who I'm still kinda disappointed they killed off in the first freaking episode, as a companion. Because pretty much all of the Doctor's companions have been women in their early twenties and I think it would've been interesting to switch things up like this. Also again with Grace I feel like it would've been more impactful if we had gotten a full season or even half a season with her before she died. Oh and I would've liked for Graham's cancer to play more of a role with it maybe coming back and him going on constant adventures with the Doctor and trying to do as much as he can before he dies. It would've been really interesting to see a companion die of something completely normal yet unavoidable after having survived all of these dangerous adventures. It would've been really sad to see the Doctor just trying to keep it all together and make Graham happy when she can't do anything about him slowly dying in front of her.

Overall the 13th Doctor's seasons were just full of missed opportunities and it's incredibly saddening.

Okay so I, like many kids who read and loved PJO, found out that gay people existed because I read House of Hades. Tbh that memory has burned itself into my mind and I think about it constantly and so I just want to rant about it. So, here it goes:

I was twelve years old and was sitting in a brewery that my mom wanted to go to, reading a copy of HOH that I checked out from the school library. I got to the part where Zephyr (or whatever his name was) mentioned Apollo's and Hyacinth's myth right before the Cupid scene and I distinctly remember feeling really weird when I read that.

Obviously, I didn't know that two people of the same gender being in love was possible. Literally up to that point I thought that if two people of the same gender were married then they were just really good best friends 🤣. And also I think at that moment I assumed that if my parents didn't bother to tell me that two people of the same gender could be together then it must've been wrong or inappropriate or something. Literally my thought process during that whole sequence was "okay... That's weird.... I'll just ignore that and remember it as 'Apollo and Hyacinthia' instead" and to this day I still find it kinda funny.

So, yeah I just decided to put a pin in it for now and wait until I finished the book to decide whether to just completely ignore my discovery or to maybe do more research on my phone later.

But of course came the Cupid scene and oh my god let me tell you twelve-year-old me was shook. Literally eyes wide, jaw dropped, totally shocked. I think I was in shock for about three days after that.

I distinctly remember googling afterwards if Nico really did like Percy to see if what I just read was actually true and then I was looking for spoilers about whether Nico would later tell anyone else about it and what their reactions were. And it was this googling that made me discover the word "gay" as well as introducing me to fanfiction.

So, yeah it's nothing too crazy but idk this just had a great impact on me and I wanted to get it out.

Everything is like “QUEER history” and “List of QUEER young adult books” or “Top 10 QUEER movies” and queer this and queer that and for the love of god please just say LGBT.

Guys I think Falsettos has become my new hyperfixation.

Like I cannot go a day without thinking about the complexities of Marvin's internalized homophobia and all the reasons for why he was an asshole.

I can't stop thinking about the little things in the proshot like Marvin worriedly saying "what?!" after Whizzer said that he "needs a man" or Marvin trying to say "Baby I'm sorry" after hitting Trina.

I can't stop thinking about Marvin's development with him becoming more accepting of his sexuality and admitting his love to Whizzer and even calling him "baby" (I cannot tell the amount of times I watched that moment guys 😭) and Marvin making friends with Cordelia and Charlotte as a way to show him getting over his misogyny and no longer just trying to fake romantic relationships with women.

I can't stop thinking about how it was implied that Marvin also passed of aids soon after and how devastating that must be for the tight knit family.

I can't stop thinking about the idea of Cordelia and Charlotte finally getting married when it became legal and everyone being happy and sad because Marvin and Whizzer should've also gotten to this point goddamn it.

I usually don't feel this emotional about the stuff I watch but omg you guys I haven't felt this way since I watched Nimona 😭

Guys I watched Falsettos and omg I can't believe I only found about it because I watched an animatic of Vox and Alastor from Hazbin Hotel set to Thrill of First Love 😭

I like to think that Vox and Val do that tongue twisting thing because Vox doesn't have any lips.

Like Vox's face is just a flat screen with a hole in the middle of it for a mouth and so any attempts at making out are equivalent to smushing your face against any regular tv 🤣

Guys for the longest time I thought that Andrew Rannells was Asian but today I just decided to look it up to make sure and he's not?!?!

Omg it's Joseph Gordon-Levitt all over again 😭.

So I was thinking about the web of connections between Vox, Val, Angel, Husk, and Alastor. Like Vox is dating Valentino who has a thing with Angel who likes Husk whose soul is owned by Alastor who is being hate crushed on by Vox and oh Vox also hates Angel because Valentino likes him. It's just so messy and I love it.

But anyway I think in S2 Vox's jealousy towards Angel will lead to Alastor getting involved with Valentino and maybe lead to Angel contract being broken. Like I think Vox will try to hurt/kill Angel and Husk will step in leading to him getting injured and Alastor thus getting involved. This'll also lead to conflict between Val and Vox because Vox tried to hurt/kill Angel which will maybe make him leave the Vees and be intercepted by Alastor.

Or hell maybe Vox will temporarily team up with Alastor to try and break the Angel's contract so that Val won't have him anymore.

Idk I'm just rambling and I swear I cannot wait till S2.

Someone who isn't on the ace or aro spectrum actually portraying a sex-favorable or romance-favorable Alastor instead of an allo version of the character

Allos in the "aces can still have sex! aros can still date!" crowd giving literally any support to the aspec community aside from trying to scoot around Alastor's asexuality
