Spring backward

We woke up Sunday morning to a couple of harsh realities: Daylight Saving Time and an inch of new snow - the first we've seen since returning north 10 days ago.

A snowfall in March in Michigan only seems unusal in the context of the rest of this half-hearted winter. In recent days I've been thinking that maybe we had seen the last of our snow.

I was tempted to pull out the driveway markers and exchange the snowblower on the tractor for the mower deck. I began to suspect that the world outside our window might go directly from brown to green.

Now it's back to black-and-white.

yeah yeah daylight saving sucks on its own just fine but what sucks even more is having friends in different timezones whose clocks don't change on the same night as yours so you end up with these annoying couple of weeks where the time difference is a different one than usual. bonus points of hell for being in different hemispheres where the time difference already changes every six months anyway plus those two couple-of-weeks periods where it's even more fucked

Maybe I don’t hate springing ahead

Hello, Daylight Saving Time. Nothing like checking the little activity lightning bolt at 11:15 pm and discovering that Tumblr thinks it’s already tomorrow. Rude.

(Also, for anyone who hasn’t had this particular linguistic crisis, it is actually Saving singular, not Savings-like-money. Cuz it’s the time we save daylight. I don’t know why so many of us are saying it wrong. But it’s widespread enough that it sounds right.)

i don’t think the us should have daylight savings time but i think we should keep spring forward. eventually america will be a week ahead of every other country.
