This was referenced from a Don Rosa comic. He really knows how to make some great duck comics. I recently binged the entire Don Rosa collection from Fantagraphics.
I’ve already talked about how, despite clothing in DE being assigned fairly arbitrary values by Harry to his skills, there are real, in-world reasons why some clothes help or hinder (the hjelmdal shirt making Kim less likely to trust you because it depicts a character from a racist series). Basically clothing matters in the game because it matters in the world.
On that same track, I also really like drugs and cigarettes in DE. They’re not a gaming meta, they’re not a cheat code you insert and boom, you’re more powerful. There are in-world examples that, despite not having skills, drugs affect other people’s minds or bodies as well.
Cuno takes speed, Cuno aces all his hand/eye checks. Klaasje with her preptide and composure, with her cigarette and her drama. The smoker and his ability to see beauty in everything. Pyrholidon, which you can get from Roy and the pigs who both are lost in their own worlds.
They don’t necessarily have the skills, but just like how these things help Harry, they help other characters too. Nothing in DE is purely a gaming mechanism, other than perhaps the fast traveling, it’s all a part of the world and the characters. I love that. I love this game. I’m going to go insane.
Jesus said, "Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28
Are you carrying your burdens all by yourself and you are practically bent over? Is there no one to help you and you feel you can't do it anymore? Jesus is calling you today, go to Him and lay all your pains and burdens at His feet. He will carry it for you and He will give you rest and refresh you.
This new month, go to your burden-bearer, Jesus Christ, and lay all your worries, anxieties and troubles at His feet, He will carry it for you. Though your troubles look like mountains, He can dissolve it like mist. May the Lord fill your hearts with peace.
During the flight Fred Haise developed a urinary tract infection and later kidney infections. These caused him to be in pain for most of the trip
(This is my favorite movie and I have no idea if anyone’s made gifs of this scene but if they have, I couldn’t find them, so I just sighed and said: Fine, I’ll do it myself...)
