63. Do Not Disturb [Houki, Abby, Clara, Miri]
Tumblr media
Hey, made a new banner for WIP Wednesdays!
This post is brought to you by the sleepies as I didn't stray much from that idea in these prompts. All of them have at least one person sleeping in it, lol
Regular warnings apply: Raw, incomplete writing below. In this entry, we have:
-A sneaky Mitsuhide that is foiled by the power of Mitsunari's reading trance -Mentions of pregnancy and children in Abby's entry. Fluffy as always -Fluff with Clara and Nokto. Maybe some implied mentions of nudity and 'adult activities' from the previous evening? -Simeon and Satan talking about studying for the upcoming exams. Miri and Luke had fallen asleep during Satan's lecture but he's not mad. Based on Lesson 30-1 in the OG game. Added in some talk that something might be wrong with Miri (meant to be foreshadowing for later lessons).
-----
Houki
The afternoon sun was high in the sky when Mitsuhide decided to visit Hideyoshi's manor. He had no pressing business there save for a small letter he wanted to personally deliver and now was wandering the grounds. It was a pleasantly quiet day with a small breeze brushing through the grass and the trees.
He then spotted a pair of lovers sitting under a tree. Mitsunari was reading a book settled on his lap while his lady companion, Houki, leaded against his shoulder, eyes closed with her glasses threatening to slip down her nose. A very quaint scene indeed.
Mitsuhide then saw Mitsunari's vacant stare, a sure sign of him having entered his reading trance. Tugging his hair and putting things near his mouth proved an entertaining pastime (especially when he could rile up Hideyoshi in the process) and the urge to tease the younger man was strong.
However, he could also tease his lady friend. Her reactions could prove more entertaining as she was only sleeping, unaware of her surroundings in a similar yet different way. Would she act in anger at a disrupted rest or perhaps she'll mewl cutely with a yawn while wiping her eyes? Both seemed delightful in their own ways.
Mitsuhide approached them silently, not even the grass under his feet or the wind giving him away.  Slowly, he lowered himself to Houki's level, thinking of how he should disturb her. Perhaps her slipping glasses would be a good starting point? He could take them off her face entirely and hide them? He could slip them to the top of her head? Perhaps he could also put them on Mitsunari's nose?
With a steady hand, he reached for her precarious eye-wear, about to gently lift the pieces from her ears.
Suddenly, another's hand grabbed his, startling Mitsuhide. He looked down to see Mitsunari's sleeved hand holding his, quite firmly at that. When he turned to look at the hand's owner, Mitsunari still held his empty stare, his eyes still glued to the paper and ink in his lap. Even while Mitsuhide stared at him, waiting for a response, Mitsunari stayed silent.
"Are you truly that unaware…" Mitsuhide mumbled.
Then, there was a new problem he had to deal with: Mitsunari hadn't yet released him. His grip was unyielding and starting to hurt.
----------
Abby
"Vincent? Boys? Uncle Theo is going to be here soon!" Abby called through the house, looking for her little family. They weren't outside, else they would have said something, so they should be inside somewhere. She shuffled across the floor, waddling with the added weight of the baby in her belly.
Cora was scheduled to be born in another three or so weeks, but moving around much this late was challenging. Still, there was things to do and Theo was coming to visit, so she needed everyone ready in time.
She looked in the kitchen and the family room, but no sign of them. She could try trekking upstairs to find them, but, again, it would be difficult with Cora. She even seemed worried about her missing father and brothers, the way she was kicking. Abby rubbed her belly to calm her.
"We'll find them, don't worry. Maybe they're playing hide and seek? Will loves that game."
She peeked outside one more time, just to be sure. The early summer sun was hitting just right with the crickets chirping in the distance. It was a peaceful day, perfect for afternoon nap.
She then heard soft snores around the corner.
On the porch, sitting in the outdoor chairs were Vincent and their two boys, all napping in the sun with art supplies strung everywhere. Crayons, paint, water cups, and loose papers were all over the place with scribbles of every color imaginable. It was a regular sight in their household and Abby giggled softly.
"Like father, like sons, I suppose."
It seemed a crime to wake them as she couldn't bend down to pick up all of the mess by herself, but Theo was coming and she didn't want her home to be a complete wreck for visitors. But her hopes were dashed when she heard a familiar voice behind her.
"Here you all are-!"
Abby placed her hands over Theo's mouth, shushing him. Theo looked surprised.
------
Clara
Slivers of dawn peeked through the thick red curtains, waking Clara from her deep slumber. Brushing back her loose hair behind her ear and sitting up, she looked around the silent room. Silent save for the soft breathing beside her.
Ah, right, Nokto had just gotten back home after a longer than normal stay abroad. They both understood the necessities of it, trade and good relations and whatnot. It never stopped the longing and loneliness that accompanied the necessity of being apart, for propriety's and safety's sake. Some places were slow on the uptake of Rhodolite having a new king and not entirely pleased with it. Even fewer were happy with Rhodolite's new queen having commoner roots. So, separation at times was necessary, but the heartache never got any easier. All the worries of if he was getting enough rest or if she was working too hard always plagued them until they could be together again.
They had made up for lost time in the entirety of his absence in a few hours' time of his return, the cool air of the room reminded her as it caressed her bare skin. His eyes bags betrayed his fatigue, now much clearer in the daylight hours. She should have held off, in her heart of hearts she knew she should have for his sake, but should haves don't do much for the now's. And her heart had been just as desperate for him as he had been for her. No regrets but at the same time… some regrets, in hindsight.
With a sigh, Clara put her hands in her hair, pulling it back and twisting it neatly, making her low bun as it was second nature to her. She should get dressed, maybe make a special breakfast for Nokto when he wakes up. He did just get back and he needed the rest, she was sure of that. A morning of undisrupted sleep for the king. That sounded ideal.
When Clara put her hands back onto the bed, intent on getting up to start the day, the touch of another warm, familiar hand, stopped her. Looking back, she saw one ruby red eye cracked open, staring at her.
"It's too early," his voice was hoarse, making Clara smile.
"You can sleep in if you want."
His grip tightened.
"…Just got back."
"All the more reason to sleep in."
"Not without you."
He was pleading with her.
"You missed me that much?" She teased.
"Yes."
"A miracle." she giggled. "Fatigue has made an honest man of you."
"You made me an honest man, get your facts straight."
She laughed again.
------
Miri
"And that was how the Great Celestial War ended-!"
The library had grown suspiciously quiet. No quiet scratching of pens or page flipping. No whispered questions from Luke to Simeon, or even of Miri's foot that had been swinging and sliding on the rug previously. Satan lowered his textbook in his hand, only to be greeted by twin soft snores and Simeon's apologetic grin. Satan sighed.
"Really?"
"It was a lot to take in for the two of them."
"It's all on the exam! How do they expect to-" Satan sighed again, giving up.
"They tried their best to keep up and that's the most important part." Simeon pointed to the pages of notes the other two had kept while listening to Satan's lecture. Luke's was relatively neat and organized, as was expected of the younger angel. And while her handwriting wasn't exactly neat, Satan smiled at spying some little doodles alongside Miri's notes, like a bunch of trees in the section about the Devildom's beginnings, and a three-legged crow in the margins. Simeon chuckled, catching Satan's attention.
"What? Did you think of something funny?"
"Hmm… how do I explain it?" Simeon looked skyward. "As I was listening to your lecture, I couldn't help thinking…"
"About what?"
"Our history is so violent and bloody. Yet now we're able to gather in peace and study it together like this… it really is amazing."
Simeon then looked fondly at Miri and Luke, both with their heads in the arms on the table, happily in their private dream lands.
"Did you ever imagine we would get to this point?"
Satan shook his head with a smile.
"Hmm… can't say I did, no."
He watched Miri more closely, seeing her breathe in and out gently. Her pink curls cascaded over her shoulders and on the table, reminding him of cotton candy. Satan also couldn't help but notice she was paler than usual, almost to a sickly quality. It was the first he'd seen of it. Had the stress of the exams been getting to her and he never noticed?
He did, however, notice that there was something in Miri's curls that wasn't there before and frowned.
"Hey," he said pointedly at Simeon, "what are you doing?"
"What do you mean," Simeon said innocently, "I was just stroking her hair."
"Don't get so touchy-feely with her."
"Why?"
"Just.. don't, okay?"
"Why? Are you jealous?" Simeon smiled.
"It's nothing like that, but don't touch her."
"Ah, you're just being her protective big brother, then?"
"You're still touching her."
"Her hair is quite soft," Simeon teased, "You should try it once you get the chance."
Satan glared, wanting to pull the angel's hand off of Miri, but didn't want to disturb her rest.
"She… hasn't been feeling well lately, has she?" Simeon asked as Satan's eyes widened.
"How did you-?"
"She feels warm, more than normal." Simeon took off one of his gloves and touched two fingers against her forehead, then her cheek, then her throat.
"Is she sick?"
"Not exactly, at least not yet."
"Maybe the stress of the exams are getting to her? Like you said, it's a lot to take on if it's all new to you."
"Possibly."
Satan then remember when they had all went to the Carnival before the exams started. When Beel had been throwing his food temper tantrum and he, Lucifer, and the others had been drawn into the fight. Miri had looked upset (naturally, they were all being idiots at the time), the pact marks on her body started to glow, somehow escaping her notice. Next thing he knew, she was yelling at all of them to stop fighting and he landed on the ground, hard, unable to move a muscle. Painful groans from his brothers told him they suffered the same fate, five more bodies accompanying him on the floor.
He also remembered hearing a soft something hitting the floor, his eyes trailing to see Miri's new zombie iguana plush she had gotten at the carnival fallen from her grasp. Looking up further, he saw the look of horror on her face, both hands covering her mouth. The ghost waiters surrounded her, praising and applauding her happily, but she took no notice of it, only staring as the six of them laid pinned to the ground.
"Maybe… something else is affecting her?"
"Hm?"
"She's been scared to use the pacts ever since that fight at the Ghost Café. It was such a powerful force that none of us could escape from."
"I remember hearing about that," said Simeon. "Solomon said the first time he tried commanding multiple demons at once, his body ached for a while afterwards."
"She didn't look like she was hurting after the fact." All of his brothers definitely were, he remembered that part clearly, but not Miri. "She was just really quiet, not really talking to any of us after the fact. Lucifer kept staring at her, too. It was weird."
"Hmm…" Simeon put his glove back on, lost in thought.

Unfortunately Famous Update!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Regina hadn’t been looking where she was going. Of course, she hadn't. She was getting a lecture from her mother. Somehow slitting her knee open on a stray rock hadn’t ended the conversation but made it worse.
“This is exactly what I am talking about, Regina, you’ve become so clumsy. And those people, who even are they? Sure your plaything is… somewhat attractive, but you have to think beyond her pretty face, Regina… you are a Mills, after all. And you really need to do something with that complexion you’re getting older and even Emma won’t want you.”
Regina was sitting on her ass trying to assess if she had done herself any real damage. She tried to block out her mother. She needed to make sure she was ok first, she knew that is what Katheryn or Emma would tell her to do. Cora’s rhetoric was always the same, she wasn’t going to miss much. But as she made the mistake of looking up into the eyes of her mother, coldly staring down at her daughter not even offering a hand to help her up. Regina once again wished her mother could love her no matter how wrong she knew that was.
Her eyes started to burn and that was the worst reaction she could have had. Her mother had taught her early on to never let anyone see you weak. She knew that at any moment they were about to repeat their old patterns again. Regina would be made fun of long enough that she would snap and start yelling back, and then a correction would happen.
*did anyone catch that i posted the wrong link to the wrong story last week? lol sorry!
Thank you as always to Crystal Coulter for keeping my butt accountable! This story wouldn't have been posted without you -- give Crystal some love!!

Another first sentence + 5 sentence fic, "I hate it when you're being a martyr!!?"
Lol, next time just send me a sentence. I don't think I'll ever be doing "only" +5 sentences xD
Okay, okay, so this isn't from my *THE* time-travel fic, but the thing is... I just love the idea of a bamf!sterek that go back in time and don't tell anyone about the truth and then comes this CONFRONTATION and everyone else is confused/in awe.
Quick rundown of dynamics, just because: Alpha Talia Hale. Human/Alpha Mate Nathaniel Hale. Betas Peter Hale, Laura Hale, Cora Hale, Claudia Stilinski. Human Noah John Stilinski. Alpha Derek Hale (but he presents as a beta to everyone except Stiles). Human Stiles Stilinski (but he is actually a spark, the strongest there is).
Idk their ages, but you can imagine Stiles as a 15/16 year old teen (he's mentally older, of course, think like... hmm... let's say he came back in time at age 21. So he should be 30, mentally). That makes Derek 21/22 (mentally 36).
Okay, enough rambling, now let's get down to the fic!! I'll be writing this from Laura's POV. Also, tell me if I should post this one on AO3? Now it's on AO3!
The Moon's Come Out
"I hate it when you're being a martyr."
Stiles' voice is a soft whisper underneath the chaos of blood and death, but it's not quite enough to drown under. It's a resigned exhale of breath, a truth so absolute that it's no longer just a truth. It's a fact.
Laura Hale wonders when her baby brother aligned himself to such a fact. She wonders lots of things about her baby brother.
She remembers the day when it all changed. When Derek changed. It was subtle, but it was prominent.
She remembers when she'd helped Derek with his flirting skills. Paige, she remembers; the same Paige who had once held Derek's eyes had been rendered into nothing that day. No, not nothing—something else. Something deeper. Something like grief.
But why would Derek grieve someone living? It's a mystery, but more than that it's an act shared between Derek and Stiles—like they're barely tethered to the world, and every moment with anyone but each other is like a gift and a curse, all in one.
But this isn't the time to think about it, how it feels like she's lost Derek once.
It's time to save him.
"Mom," her voice is a barely there sound, but her mom, her Alpha, she's here.
And she's silently crying.
"Mom, we need to- need to help him,"
Her mom is nodding her head, and they're moving between the bloody bodies—hunters, who'd come to kill them, only to die by Stiles'... everything.
Laura feels she can save him.
"Stop." Stiles' voice is still a whisper, but it's an order. A command.
Her mom—Alpha Talia Hale—stops in her tracks, and Laura, with her injured leg has to stop with her.
Dad is shouting at Cora to stay back, and John is trying to free Claudia and Peter from their confines, and Laura can hear all that. But right now, her world boils to where Derek is. On the ground, only a few feet away but so, so far away, spitting blood out of his mouth as his healing tries to kick in where the bullets are lodged on his body.
Bullets. Because Derek had jumped in front of the hunters when they started shooting at Peter and Claudia. And they're all wolfsbane laced.
Laura opens her mouth to protest, to shout, but Stiles doesn't let her.
He's always stopped her from talking.
She hates Stiles.
He's taken Derek away from her. From the pack.
"I can deal with this, you don't have to worry,"
"You can't order me around." Laura's eyes flash at her Alpha's tone, and she bares her neck.
Stiles' jaw sets with a determined look. "Oh, yeah? You really think so, Talia?" Laura watches him as he speaks, words fast paced and laced with worry and fear and anger. It's an ensemble of emotions, but even Laura has to admit that there's always been something special about this kid. His hands work as he talks.
"I mean, maybe you do. You Hales always think you know the best, don't you? It's like you think nobody else has any brains but you. Well, except Peter. That fucker is just too clever for his own good and he knows it. But he at least knows not to underestimate others. That's more than I can say for you, Talia. Or Laura. You two are so similar, you know?"
Laura does. She does know. And she is proud of that fact. But Stiles says it like a curse, like being so similar to her own mother—her Alpha—is nothing short of the worst thing.
Laura wonders why. She wonders a lot when it comes to Stiles.
"Stiles," everyone stops at that voice, as if freezing in place would freeze time itself.
Laura has been tortured, she's seen more blood than she needs to today, and she'd cried herself hoarse when they'd started to torture her previously unconscious mom. And then she'd wanted to die when the hunters turned their guns toward Cora, Claudia and Peter. So much so that she'd barely noticed Derek somehow escaping from his own personal confinement, the shackles he was in, all of it covered in wolfsbane. Neither had she witnessed Stiles breaking the literal cage the humans of their pack had been put in. But the thing that truly, truly scares her isn't any of those things. No.
It's losing Derek. Her baby brother (he used to hate it when she called him that, but when he changed, that hate turned into a grieving sort of fondness, like this was something he'd missed), who feels more like an adult than she is, her Derek. She can't lose him. She just can't.
It would break her. It would break the pack. Derek has always been the heart of it, the sweet little kid who is adored by his sisters and trusted by his parents; the man who even Peter respects, and Claudia cherishes like her own son, and John who calls him a good man.
It's no surprise they all just stop when Derek speaks for the first time since he was shot. And oh, was it only minutes ago? It feels like hours.
"Finally coherent, huh?" Stiles asks Derek, like Derek speaking right now is no big deal. Like it's that easy to try and repel the poison of wolfsbane.
"Shut up," Derek coughs out, voice throaty and weak.
"Derek," someone calls out. It's choked with tears, and it's a female, and it's her voice. "Derek! Please don't die,"
Derek tries to move his head, but falls back on the ground with a thump. Stiles swats at him, and Laura only now notices that Stiles' hands are covered in blood, one anchored on Derek's chest while the other digs around one of the holes. There's a host of bullets lying on the other side; Stiles throws another bullet there.
Perhaps everyone notices the same thing just then, because everyone makes a noise, a wail of pain and disgust and fear, all of it mixed in one sound.
Her mom has lost all her fight in herself, and Laura deflates, too. Stiles seems to know what he's doing.
And he doesn't seem to care what he sounds like.
"No, shut up? Me? Shut up? I swear to the fucking moon, you asshole, if you die on me I'll follow you. I'll fucking follow you there, because nothing is left for me here, okay, and I know you know that. You know this. How could you even do this to me? I told you to wait for my signal! I never would have let them get hurt, Derek! No, no, shut up! You keep your words to yourself and you listen, you goddamn martyr, you listen.
You made me a promise. When we came back, you promised me we'd be together. Always. We'll fix things, then we'll live, and then we'll die. Together. But you-you broke that promise, Der. You did tha-that,"
Laura is missing something. They all are.
Stiles' voice is a steady stream, a flow broken only by the cracks in his voice and the anger in it. And then it's a whisper, the height of his voice toppled down by his sorrow.
Derek smiles softly, as if Stiles worrying himself to death about him is not a new thing. Like Derek almost dies on a constant basis, and this is a routine they have—Stiles worries, Stiles shouts, and then Derek smiles because he's still here. He isn't gone yet.
Laura watches as Derek puts his weight on his elbows, brings his face close to Stiles'. Nobody interrupts them, still frozen in time, still processing what they just went through. Stiles shuts his eyes.
"I am here. I am here, Stiles," Derek tells Stiles, and Stiles takes a shaky breath, and it hangs there, that breath—the worry, the anger, the pain, everything—between them, before Derek lunges forward and presses his lips against Stiles'.
There are a few sharp breaths, and a hysterical giggle from Claudia. "I told you," she says, and Laura thinks she's saying it to John.
Laura isn't exactly surprised. She's caught them kissing multiple times, and she's always wanted to tattle on them. And she would have, because this is wrong—Stiles is a teenager and Derek is an adult—but Stiles is clever and somehow always a few steps ahead of her. He knows all of her secrets, and she'd rather he didn't but that's not the life she has. No, the life she has is—
—clearer in hindsight. She thinks back on those kisses, shared in the early mornings or late nights, between whispered words that Laura couldn't make out and with a desperation that went beyond the desperation of wanting a good time.
And she looks now, looks at the way Stiles' breaths are shaky and labored, but his hands are steady, even as he brings flames appear out of nowhere and presses it against Derek's bullet wounds. She looks at the way Derek has his forehead pressed against Stiles', and how he moves his head to Stiles' neck at the precise moments that the fire touches his skin. Like he's done this before, knows how to keep his pain between him and Stiles. She looks at the way Stiles' other hand, still bloody, tangles in Derek's hair, comforts him, like he's the only comfort Derek needs in this world.
She looks at the way Derek's body heals, like even his body is used to being hurt like this.
"It all makes sense," Peter's voice brings her out of her thoughts, and she turns to look at him. He's vibrating with excitement. "The way they talk—the way they behave—it all makes sense!"
Laura doesn't want to know. She doesn't want to know how this much blood and death and crying and confusion could ever make sense.
But if knowing is the answer to ease the burden on Stiles' and Derek's shoulders, she'll take it. She will know.

Once Upon A Time Rewatch: 6x16 Mother’s Little Helper
Tumblr media
I’m guessing this is the episode with the freaking Acromantula!
I bet Blue freaking gave baby Gideon to the Black Fairy. But if she didn’t why didn’t we get to see a fairy fight?!
Why does she kidnap Gideon though?
Emma, why are you whispering?
I’m confused. Doesn’t the Black Fairy have his heart? But yet he’s trying to destroy her? You’d think she would have commanded him not to do that.
She is seriously twisted. Why is she kidnapping and enslaving children specifically? It’s okay. No spoilers please. I’d like to find out again as the season progresses.
Okay but the black fairy is really hot.
Poor Gideon. The black fairy loves to play mind games.
It was said several times in previous seasons that Rumple created the Dark Curse. I suppose him not being the creator would explain why he had to go looking for it with the Queens of Darkness in 4b. I can only guess they mean that he made enough alterations to the curse for it to be considered his own creation.
Oh. I’m glad she freed the dragon. And omg the people of Storybrooke are free at last to travel out of town! It’s a Christmas miracle!
Emma has a shed of potion ingredients now? I guess that’s from her Dark One days.
Oh my God, Henry has been possessed by Jor-El like Lionel Luthor!!
Okay but seriously Henry feverishly scrawling symbols with glazed over eyes as if possessed is straight up from Smallville.
I love how excitable the Black Fairy act and how unpredictable her behaviour is.
Omg when I’m 28 there better be a fairytale town for me to go break a curse at.
How the hell did Gideon just create a portal like that? Enma herself just said that those take extreme magic to conjure and if Gideon had that he wouldn’t have wanted to kill Emma to gain her magic. This show is getting way too convenient with its plot points.
You know, all this time I thought Gideon was born with magic because of his father but that doesn’t make much sense since Rumple gained the Dark One’s powers in later life, so it’s not hereditary. At least, I guess it’s not. I think the Black Fairy taught him the art of magic much like how Rumple taught Cora and Regina, who both weren’t born with magic.
It’s Aragog!!
Those poor kids.
Gideon x Roderick could have been a great love story. Missed opportunity! Anyway, Gideon is gay. There is no doubt in my mind.
That spider’s got booty!
Emma’s saviour magic can ‘slice’ into other realms now?! The lore this season is just all over the place. Everything is way too convenient and retconned! The writers have forgotten their own rules!
Oh, he was gonna channel her magic with the sword that he wanted to kill her with. That makes more sense. But Rumple had that sword all that time and he loves power. I’m surprised he didn’t kill more magic users with it to gain their powers. Or maybe he did.
Isaac!
Hamilton tickets xD!
Somehow a giant spider isn’t nearly as terrifying to me as a normal sized spider lol.
I think this one’s bigger than Aragog.
Wtf Gideon?!
He betrayed her! I thought you were bros!
Why couldn’t he have just accepted her help?
What? Why are there still lost boys? Pan is dead and didn’t all the lost boys go to Storybooke on the flying Jolly Roger?
I can’t stop laughing at Emma being mummified by that web x’D
Omg that one post where they said Emma was just trying on her wedding dress here!! I’m screaming! They aren’t wrong!
Bahahahahahahahaha!!
This is so funny! I can’t!
Rumple can blast magic now? I don’t think we’ve ever seen him do that.
Wow. She’s so freaking abusive. Like, even Pan didn’t treat kids this badly. It’s weird that both Rumple’s parents gather as many kids as they can but not their son. I guess the Black Fairy couldn’t for some reason but it’s just a weird coincidence.
So Gideon lied about freeing the children? Or he meant that the children would be free from the Black Fairy once she was freed?
I honestly think they shouldn’t have brought back Neverland if it wasn’t going to be the jungle it once was. It just doesn’t feel like Neverland.
Some lost boys stayed? How comes there’s so many of them here because the number of them would suggest 3 quatres of them stayed. Why bring Felix with them on the boat if he could have just stayed, then?
Isaac: “I’m guessing the Hamilton tickets are a no?….No one’s magic’s that powerful.” So true.
Wait. So the book didn’t end in the EF? I think this may have been addressed in s4.
Bye Isaac. Hope you get your Hamilton tickets! Go see Wicked for Zelena!
Oh yes!! Awake next week! Love that episode! Snowing centric!!

FAVES & FAILS: #1 (Teen Wolf)
I’ve decided to do this questionnaire when a show/book series/movies where I answer these questions with fun gifs too (its Tumblr, what did you expect?), if you want more info, the original idea post with links to each of my completed lists is here ⚡️. A bunch of my faves have already ended so getting all of these out will take a minute, but I’m aiming to post a new one twice per week. 🤞🏻Anyway, enjoy!! OH!! ALSO, I’ll be discussing plot elements in this list so...SPOILER ALERT!!
Tumblr media
TV Show FAVES and FAILS: TEEN WOLF
FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER: STILES STILINSKI
HANDS DOWN, no question about it! He was the soul of the show, and funny, and so incredibly human on a show full of the inhuman, and that was what made him so integral.  Anyway, I could go on forever about how much I love Stiles, but here’s a gif:
Tumblr media
LEAST FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER: GERARD ARGENT
There isn’t really a male that makes me want to punch something, so good for the writers, I guess?
Tumblr media
FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER: LYDIA MARTIN
I really want to say Allison but it HAS to be Lydia, hands down! Her character development from a girl pretending to be vapid and shallow and who hid her genius so she could “fit in”, to a strong, powerful, confident woman secure in who she really is and the power inside of her (figuratively AND literally, lol), this girl is the real MVP.
Tumblr media
LEAST FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER: MONROE
This was hard because there are several female characters that made me want to throw my laptop out of the window.  The short list is Kate Argent, Allison’s mom... I could go on... but Monroe’s systematic attempt to wipe all supernaturals out of Beacon Hills and then maybe the rest of the world gave me fucking high blood pressure and a rage issue. I don't care how “scared” you are, killing a kid who hasn't done anything wrong just because they are different than you is some fucked up, borderline genocidal bullshit. And she survived the finale!!? Like I had to deal with her self-righteous smirky attitude and you didn't even have the decency to punch her in the face and let me watch?!? Rude.
Tumblr media
THE CHARACTER THAT DESERVED BETTER: Aiden (and kind of Ethan)
I badly want to say Allison again here because I love and miss her tons. But she died protecting her family and friends and I believe that she is happy wherever she went afterward.  Watching Aiden die in his twin brother’s arms I don’t know who I felt the worst for.  The boy dying, or his brother who now has to live without him... I’m gonna go cry now, brb.

THE DEADWEIGHT CHARACTER WE SHOULD’VE DUMPED IN 2009: Kate Argent
Luckily she was not a regularly appearing character, but when she showed up it was always “for revenge” and I'm like...can we just...not this season? I was having a lovely time and then you showed up with your petty anger for whatever fucking shit that happened in, like season one.  Like, honey... if it’s been so long since you’ve been relevant that I have to google what you’re upset about because I have honestly forgotten...maybe it’s time to let that shit go.  Kindly fuck off now, please...
Tumblr media
OVERHYPED CHARACTER: Derek Hale
Like, don’t get me wrong, he’s great and I loved when he was on the show, but I feel like some people think he carried the show and it wouldn't survive without him.  Well, surprise! because he went away after season 4 and I still think some of their best shit came in season 5 and the beginning of season 6.
Tumblr media
UNDERHYPED CHARACTER: Deaton
Um, he was basically Scott’s druid emissary and he got no recognition for it.  He saved all of the main pack members’ lives at least once.  Also he didn't make Stiles pay for the windows, so he’s apparently not an asshole.
Tumblr media
OVERHYPED SHIP: Scott and Malia
I feel like they had to adjust the final season A TON because of Dylan’s injury and Kira not coming back and I think the writers panicked when they didn't know who to put Scott with (because our leading man could never not have a girlfriend, *gasp* THE HORROR!) because Lydia needed to be with Stiles and I think they picked Malia because she was basically the only one left...I was never into it.  In fact, when my friend texted me after we watched the episode where they get together, my response back to her was literally “meh 🤷🏻‍♀️”.
Tumblr media
UNDERHYPED SHIP: Allison and Isaac
It would’ve been so nice to see where that relationship went.  Don’t get me wrong, had she lived, I would’ve wanted Allison to end up with Scott.  But I loved that the show was willing to say that it is okay to fall in love more than once in your life.  Sometimes the shows aimed at a younger audience have a tendency to act like your first love has to be the one you’re with until you die and that’s just not realistic. It was nice that the writers didn't box these characters into that mold because it gave them more depth as characters.
Tumblr media
FAVORITE SHIP: Stiles and Lydia
I don’t know how to explain how much I love this pairing.  Like, from the beginning he saw her for how amazing she was and he supported her as she came into her powers and then she was always there making sure that someone was taking care of him when he was taking care of, literally, everyone else, and then when he disappeared SHE KNEW something was wrong nearly instantly, and ‘remeMBER I LOVE YOU’ I need to stop before this run-on sentence goes on forever.  ALSO they’re canon official, which never fucking happens for my ships so I’m fucking excited, sue me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
FAVORITE VILLAIN: Deucalion
His backstory was well-developed and deep, he was clear with his goals, he actually executed said goals in a logical and timely manner, he was a fucking ALPHA OF ALPHAS, nuf said.
Tumblr media
MOST HEARTBREAKING MOMENT: Allison’s Death
Hands down, the most heartbreaking moment on the show, and I will fight anyone who comes at me with a different opinion. Because like--she was smiling when she was stabbed because she had figured out a way to help her friends and then she died in Scott’s arms and told him she loved him even though they weren’t together she still loved him and he still loved her, and I truly believe that she had zero regrets when she died, and how bittersweet is that???!  But Scott couldn't take her pain because it didn’t hurt anymore, and Lydia had to feel her best friend die and she screamed Allison’s name and if you are not hurting right now are you a monster???!?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
FAVORITE STORYLINE: Eichen House Escape/Dread Doctors in Season 5
It was hard to pick between the Dark Druid storyline in season 3A, but the Eichen rescue/Lydia learning how to be a BAMF Banshee from Meredith while she was catatonic (ALSO ‘Stiles saved me’ I AM DEAD!!!), and the whole la bête du gévaudan thing was great, and reuniting the pack after Theo had royally fucked it up earlier that season, it was all just superb! *chef’s kiss*
Tumblr media
STORYLINE WE COULD’VE DONE WITHOUT: Like, the whole second half of the last season, TBH
It was a petty, counterintuitive, and just garbage. The monster was dumb, Monroe is a royal twat (as I stated above), and it didn't have a conclusion.  Like, the fuck? This isn't Game of Fucking Thrones you guys do not need to leave every season finale with so many loose ends it make people want to throw their laptops off of a cliff into a vat of hydrochloric acid.  And it was the LAST SEASON so there’s no hope of fixing this bullshit storyline. ugh, kill me now.
BIGGEST PLOTHOLE: Scott’s pretty selective “True Alpha” powers
They, like, kind of tried to pass it off as it taking a ton of energy so he can’t always do it all the time.  But he got through a mountain ash barrier to save Deaton and activated his True Alpha but then couldn't get into Eichen to get Lydia out because of the mountain ash...? oh and also where the fuck did Cora and Isaac go? (I, sincerely, hope he’s not still just chinning in fucking France wondering were Argent fucked off to)
Tumblr media
OVERALL MARKS OUT OF TEN (10 being that watching this show has probably increased your life’s worth by at least five percent; 1 being the only thing this show has given me is a stomach ulcer and trust issues):
8.75 out of 10.  This show was a blessing and I would definitely recommend it to other people. (mostly because I love to get people hooked on my favorite shows and then they're stuck and we can be tortured together).
Tumblr media
THE END! Thanks for reading my overly-long and overly-obsessive list.  Do come again soon.  I’ll probably have another of these up next week.  🤍🤍🤍

Amoureux (c.s./d.s.) - Christian’s Epilogue
A/N Long overdue, here is Amoureux’s second epilogue focusing around Christian’s future after the novel ended! Thanks to @why-dont-we-not for helping me out a lil and getting my butt in gear to actually get this done LOL
Tumblr media
Christian stood in the doorway of Louisa’s bedroom, staring silently into the empty room, the bed unslept in, the candle burnt out, and the wedding dress gone along with her. His runaway bride. The anger he had felt in the past weeks had diminished and he was just so tired, hiding his face in his hands and turned away from the room as the heartbreak took over. Mary watched him silently, her face fallen in pity as she watched him swallow back his tears. Christian leaned against the doorframe for a moment and took a deep breath to regain his composure before running both hands through his hair and meeting the lady in waiting’s gaze.
“Do you know where she went?”
“I do not know. She did not tell me anything. I had no idea.” Mary replied softly.
“Fuck.” Christian sighed, turning back to the room with his hands on his hips as if they had to analyze the emptiness of it. They were the only two who knew about Louisa’s disappearance at that moment, Mary making sure to lead him upstairs privately to show him the open window in his fiancé’s bedroom. She waited patiently for further instruction from the groom on his second wedding day in a week. Christian sighed, rubbing a hand over his jaw tiredly before speaking ever so quietly, almost to himself with realization that he didn’t want to admit,
“She went to find Daniel.”
The calmness that radiated off of the future King and the abandoned groom was almost worse than the possible anger and it turned every head in the palace as he passed on his way downstairs and right out the front doors, still dressed in his suit. No one bothered to question him as his stone-cold straight-lined expression said enough. Christian rushed down the hill to the stables and let himself inside, much to the surprise of the stable hands who watched with wide eyes as the groom helped himself silently to his horse and led him out to the courtyard. He fastened the reins and tied on a leather saddle before hoisting a leg over and took off for the coast, alone.
The Southampton harbour was bustling with people when he arrived nearly an hour later, his once styled hair falling over his forehead with sweat as he had raced to beat the clock, his suit jacket splattered with mud. People bowed as he passed, their expressions flat and Christian frowned at the solemn nature of the crowd as he navigated his way through the harbour on horseback. He easily spotted the royal carriage in front of one of the empty docks and he trotted over quickly. The two guards were talking quietly, surrounded by Daniel’s packed trunks and bags, and when he approached they looked up at him with nothing but fear in their eyes.
“Where is she?” Christian asked flatly, twisting the reins around his hands.
“Your Royal Highness.” the guards bowed to him before glancing at each other again. “Princess Louisa…uhm…she…”
“Spit it out.” Christian snapped, although more sadness than anger was apparent in his voice.
“She and your brother jumped ship.”
Christian swallowed thickly, “To Spain?”
“No. They took off down the harbour and caught a ship at the end. We are unaware where they are headed. We can find out if you would like someone to go after her-”
“No.” Christian silenced them quickly, he looked down the harbour to where they had supposedly disappeared, the girl he once loved, never to truly be his, “Let them go.”
~~
Christian was assigned a new bride by the new year. The Princess of Denmark; a slight stout young woman with long dark hair and a broad nose, always caked in makeup and wearing the tightest of corsets until her bosom nearly popped out of her dresses. She knew her place in society well, or at least it came off as such, and the King of England was sure she would be a loyal future queen. She wasn’t Louisa though; and Christian would never say that out loud.
So he was set for life with this woman whose voice sounded like crows squawking and her laugh was like knives on marble. Christian found himself missing Louisa more and more every minute that passed, hoping she was at least happy but still sick with anger that his brother, yet again, got what he wanted.
The Royal Family never spoke about Daniel; it was as if they lost another son just like they had their first. The disappointment to their country and to their family. Might as well have been dead as it would have saved them a hell ton of trouble. Once Louisa abandoned the wedding plans, England was to take over the French throne since their side of the deal was not held up. Still in love with her, Christian convinced his father to spare Louisa’s family and turn their focus to other things, leaving France intact and England without a future queen.
That was, of course, until Ethel came in from Denmark and was determined to be the queen they never had, with her near perfect old-fashioned manners but still demanding and clingy personality. It was as if she couldn’t function as a human being without a man with her. Christian tried so hard to be polite, to convince himself to love her like a wife, but he just felt empty with her around, like he was literally missing a part of his heart. He always assumed it was Louisa who his heart was always yearning for; how she picked up and left without even a goodbye, his one true love that with whom he never got his happy ending.
His new wedding was planned to occur early in the year, sort of as a way to get it over with before he might have a second runaway fiancé. The King didn’t want to take any chances. But Christian kept putting it off and putting it off with excuse after excuse as to why they should wait; longer to get to know each other, he wasn’t feeling well one week, he wanted to go see a one-night-only play in the city that exact day, anything to just wait a little longer. Wait for what? Christian himself didn’t even know. Wait for feelings to arise? Wait for Ethel to leave? Wait for a sign that he didn’t have to be with a shrieking witch the rest of his life?
Well that sign certainly came that summer as he was rushing to head down to the stables for an afternoon ride, his riding boots clicking loudly over the marble floors of the palace as he descended the stairs and made a beeline for the doors. His cufflinks were proving to be a bit of a hassle as he tugged on them to get them to sit right as the doormen opened the double doors for him and he rushed outside. He knew the path to the stables like the back of his hand, not having to even watch where he was going as he cut through the gardens, grumbling under his breath at the pieces of silver that had yet to clasp. Before he knew it, he was tripping right over onto the grass, falling flat on his face with a loud thud.
“Oh my goodness! Your Royal Highness! I am so dreadfully sorry!”
Christian picked himself up quickly, cheeks flushed pink with embarrassment as he brushed himself off and turned to see what he tripped over, a wicker basket of transplanted flowers now knocked over at his feet. He looked up into the light blue eyes of the young woman in front of him, her face filled with concern and smudged with spots of soil, light brown hair a whispy mess on her head showing how long she had been out working in the gardens.
“Are you alright?” she asked quickly.
“Yes.” Christian cleared his throat nervously, eyeing her plain work dress that was marked up in soil and grass stains and she crouched down to gather her spilled basket. “Let me help you.”
“Oh, no, that is not necessary.” she assured him quickly but he still bend down with her to gather some of the flowers.
“I should have been cautious of where I was walking.” Christian said.
“Oh no, my fault for leaving my things in your path.” she replied quickly, not wanting him to feel the blame in the slightest. The Royals could do no wrong. “So sorry.”
With the flowers back in the basket, they both stood up again and Christian eyed the gentle woman in front of him as if he couldn’t take his eyes off of her, “Are you new here?”
The question seemed to startle her, “Oh, no, Your Royal Highness. I have been working here for two years now, tending to the gardens and the grounds.”
“Usually a mans work.” Christian stated. Not rudely, just an obvious observation.
“Yes, well, I enjoy nature.” she smiled widely at him.
“Well thank you…” he faded out to let her introduce herself.
“Cora.” the gardener said, tucking the basket over her arm.
“Cora.” Christian repeated gently with a small nod, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “For keeping our gardens looking marvelous.”
“My pleasure.” she grinned.
“Darling!”
The shrill voice from the palace sent Christian’s skin crawling and his wide eyes looked back to Cora, “I was never here.”
She could barely laugh through her nod of agreement before he was rushing off to the stables, tossing her a smile over his shoulder.
Christian found himself drawn to the gardens more than before, just to sit on the grass and read his poetry as she worked, sharing small smiles with the pretty gardener in passing. Harmless, right? Harmless that he spent as much time as he could away from his new fiancé and with the help instead. Ethel hardly noticed honestly. She was much more focussed on the lifestyle, spending time with all the lavish activities that came with the title of ‘future queen’ to even be bothered to get to know Christian anymore. It was a vicious cycle of Christian wanting to put off the date and Ethel not caring enough about him to ask why he seemed to be avoiding marrying her.
As the days went by, Christian and Cora started talking more in the gardens and he found that she enjoyed listening to him read her poetry as she worked, giving them lots of time to discuss the pieces as the hours passed. It seemed to always end with Christian losing track of time and having to rush in for dinner with only minutes to spare. Cora wasn’t much to offer; born into a poor family of working class. She was thin and pale despite working outside most of the time and no where close to Ethel’s thicker stature that came from well fed royalty, but she was pretty and Christian wasn’t dumb enough to ignore that obvious fact.
Cora lived in the bottom of the palace with the rest of the staff in dark rooms and cold stone walls. She would never complain though, being treated quite well by the Royal Family compared to other families around the country, and especially not when she had the future King of England coming to find her in the servants quarters late one night. The stares from her work friends (acquaintances?) were near comical as they gaped at her being led off by the Prince’s arm and back into the main palace.
Christian took her to the library – a room she was never permitted in since she spent most of her time outside – to show her his own private collection of literature. They found themselves losing track of time again, sitting together on the wood floors with a single candle between them and books stacked around them. Christian offered out a book to Cora who politely declined.
“You have my permission to read, Cora.” Christian chuckled. “You are not working currently.”
“Yes, well, you see,” Cora mumbled, tucking her hair behind her ear before smoothing her hand over her grey skirt, “I cannot read, Your Royal Highness.”
The silence that fell made her blush furiously.
“You cannot read?” Christian frowned with curiosity, “But you talk so formally about the poems I read to you in the garden…enough that you must have studied at some time?”
“No. I just feel the words like I’ve known them my whole life. They make sense to me; when you read them to me.” she smiled bashfully.
Christian looked down at the book in his hand, dragging his fingers gently over the words on the page before looking back up to her in the candlelight, “May I teach you?”
With a gentle nod from the young woman, he shuffled closer to her, sliding the candle carefully over the floors as well and slipped the book into her hands. He set his hand on the floor behind her to lean in close in the dark room, guiding her through letter by letter as the candle burned itself down bit by bit. They were quiet, sharing whispers and soft laughter through the gold trimmed library as midnight passed and the night went on. Until they turned to each other at the same time, noses brushing in their close proximity and their smiles both faltered with realization of how close they were truly sat.
“Your Royal Highness…” Cora breathed hesitantly.
“Christian.” he corrected softly.
“Christian…” Cora spoke slowly, knowing better than to call any member of the Royal Family anything but their title. But she couldn’t help it when he was staring at her like that; like she had the answers to all the questions in the world.
Christian couldn’t hold it in any longer, raising his opposite hand to her cheek and pulled her in for a gentle kiss. Her soft gasp was the only sound in the room as their lips met, locking perfectly like it was how they were supposed to be as cliché as it sounded, and Christian slid his hand into the back of her hair to pull her any closer. They stayed there for a moment, sharing slow and lingering kisses before they pulled back at the same time, lips with that same blissful pout as their brains worked to keep up with their hearts.
The irony was unbelievable: Christian falling for someone he couldn’t have while going against the wishes of his family and his fiancé. It was a cruel joke by God, he was sure of it. He was just like Louisa, giving him a better understanding of what she was going through during her time at Kensington Palace with that thrill of true love but that sickening constant feeling of guilt. Every time Ethel was around him, Christian felt like he was in purgatory; caught between a rock and a hard place. But his safety was in Cora, reading to her in the gardens during the day and teaching her to read in the library by night, finishing early to get a few secretive kisses in before they parted ways. It was the type of love he thought he had with Louisa but he didn’t realize it wasn’t until he was with Cora.
Ethel was starting to get suspicious as to why Christian kept pushing back the date as he initial excitement of becoming British Royalty started to wear off and now, she wanted a wedding ring to prove it and lock it in. Lock him in. She started getting clingier so Christian couldn’t get time away to be with Cora during the day but he made it up to her at night. She was worth losing sleep over.
Worth losing sleep over as she was tucked up in his down filled bed sheets with him, the two of them silently staring at each other, breaths in steady time and cheeks flushed in matching pink. Christian traced the curves of her jaw and her neck and over her bare shoulders as they laid in silence, wondering how he ended up like that…in the best way. He shifted his arm around her and she cuddled up against his chest as he pressed a kiss to her head through the silent night. You never sleep better than when it’s next to the one you love.
The morning only brought a rehashing of the night, between shared gentle kisses and soft touches and bashful giggles and shy moans against warm skin and supple lips. They had yet to get through to the reality of their situation, still riding the high of that thrill of the sneaky ‘honeymoon phase’. But that only lasted so long until there was a knock at the door. The fearful look on Cora’s face was engraved into Christian’s mind when he looked back on that memory in the years that followed but in the moment it was a brief glance before the door was thrown open and Ethel was barging in, singing out about wanting some extra time with her darling.
It only took all of six seconds for Ethel to process that the gardener was in her fiancé’s bed and she threw an absolute fit, shouting obscenities at the poor girl, throwing herself over Christian and his messy bed to grab her by the hair and drag her out of bed. It was a panic that morning and a complete haze of screams and pleads and tears from all parties and soon Christian found himself sitting in his father’s office, slouched back in the chair, numb, staring at the floor with his fist pressed to his mouth as if thinking how did I end up here?
“I do not know what to say to you right now, my son.” the King spoke lowly, sitting opposite him at the large desk.
Christian closed his eyes tightly as his father spoke to him about where to go from there, how wrong it was to be at all involved with the help and how heartbroken Ethel was. In moments like that, Christian could only think of Daniel. He knew better than anyone at that moment that you couldn’t force love; it just happened, and Christian felt sick with guilt over pushing his brother away. More than just pushing him away; banishing him. His own brother.
“Are you listening to me?”
Christian’s eyes rose from the floor to his father’s serious expression and he nodded weakly.
“She will be dismissed this afternoon.”
“No.” Christian said quickly, sitting up in the chair as if suddenly intrigued in the conversation.
“Christian, you are no better than…” his father couldn’t even say his name. “You are acting incredibly immature. After one failed engagement I only hoped you would take this one more seriously.”
“Ethel is atrocious, Father. Truly.” Christian protested. “I loathe the sight of her.”
“Oh my word, Christian John, you sound like your brother.” the King scoffed tiredly with a roll of his eyes.
“I cannot look at her without wanting to rid my supper from my stomach and her voice makes my ears bleed.” Christian said seriously, looking right into his father’s eyes.
“That is enough.” the King scolded loudly. “You will not speak about your fiancé like this. You are incredibly rude.”
“I want to choose my wife.”
“Christian, that is not-”
“I want to choose my wife myself. Not who you pick or who mother picks or whomever. I want to pick my wife. And I want to marry Cora.”
“The gardener?”
“The woman. I love her.”
“Do not be ridiculous.”
“I love her and I am going to marry her and she is going to rule England with me when the time arises.”
“You cannot marry a commoner, Christian. Society does not work like that.”
“It can. And it will. I will either marry Cora with your blessing or I will abdicate the throne.”
His threat left his father in stunned silence for a few long seconds, his shocked and angered blue eyes staring down his nose at his son. Without Christian staying as heir, they would have no family left to take up the throne since Daniel was long gone. Anna was not an option. The British throne would be passed over to some other family. The King cleared his throat and looked to the tabletop, tapping his fingers on the surface anxiously.
“Your…suggestion arises questions about your brother.”
“Daniel doesn’t want to be King. There’s no doubt in my mind that if he comes back he will abdicate as well.”
The King sighed heavily.
“Father, I want to be King. I will be a great King at that. But I do not want to be forced to rule beside a woman I cannot stand.”
The father and son stared at each other silently.
“You are aware that you are no better than your brother in this situation.”
Christian bowed his head to his lap at the obvious.
“Finding yourself in the same situation as he, the same situation you threatened his life over and thus got him exiled?”
“I am aware.” Christian spoke softly.
“I do very  much want you to take my place as King some day, Christian. But, for now, you need to spend today thinking about your actions.” the King said sternly. “I want you in your room until supper and by then I expect that you have spoken to God about your hypocrisy. You must take it up with Him and find guidance, son. As you do, I will contemplate your…negotiation terms.”
So Christian was then back in his room, bed stripped by the maids, and he was sat at his desk by the window overlooking the grounds. Cora wasn’t in the garden. Just like his brother months before, Christian was locked in his room to think about what he had done. Pathetic.
He prayed for a bit at first but felt generally hopeless turning to God about something so…sinful. So Christian resorted to a quill and parchment instead. He found himself writing each letter carefully and slowly, spelling out the name he once cursed to heaven at night;
Daniel,
I’m sorry…

Mass Effect: Annihilation thoughts
TL;DR I fucking LOVED IT, a balm to my heart after struggling through Nexus Uprising! Also canonical lesbians! The sweetest quarian & his badass grandma! Elcor Hamlet except this time it’ll make you cry!!!
- Aaaaaah the audiobook reader is Tom Taylorson (so male Ryder)!! Fryda Wolf (female Ryder) read the two others and did a nice job, but man I’m soft for his voice in a way only rivaled by (...outside-of-Overwatch!)Jennifer Hale and Nicholas Boulton haha. He also has a much better handle on the pronunciations and voices for the different alien species -- delightful, I’m still cackling over his pitch perfect elcor impersonation. (Bioware please give him more Scott Ryder to voice I miss my son)
- I’m only about half an hour in and this is already SO much better than Nexus Uprising, it really does feel like a brave new galaxy haha. Very funny, very warm and smart and engaging in how it does its characterization and Valente clearly has affection for the setting and the universe, she and Jemisin both do incredible jobs with these.
- I’m fucking crying laughing at this cross-species near-brawl over a flower arrangement, god I love Mass Effect SO MUCH (what a neat idea though. something blooming quietly even when no one can see it. impractical as hell and hilariously including a high-nutrition celery now, but still neat)
Taylorson continues to wonderful things with the voices, that volus suit sound is so good. (he’s just generally really good at comedy) also a volus bellowing insults ‘moments before punching an anti-bouquet batarian in the groin’ sdafhjklsahfsjadkhfklajshdfkjlsadhf
- a high as a kite elcor... what a time to be alive, to get to read this book
I have already reached the ‘I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS BAR’ stage with these characters, hard boiled drell detective lady and sweet sweet quarian first officer and manically enthusiastic elcor doctor TOT I would die for any one of you!!!
- The quarian/multispecies ark was built for long-term habitation, potentially over multiple generations. So what you’re telling me is that the quarians are the only ones who fucking thought this through and the rest of the Initiative probably should have listened to the people who’ve essentially been living on arks for ages. Who’d’ve thunk huh lol. (I guess the in-universe explanation is that people like the mysterious benefactor just wanted those arks yeeted to Andromeda ASAP, no time to get fancy in case the Reapers changed up their schedule. Fair enough)
- ;n; petition to let senna have a SAM pls (also uh. how happy do you think the stringently anti-AI quarian pathfinder will be when he finds out about everyone else’s SAMs lol lol lol he’s going to PASS OUT FROM RAGE upon meeting ryder. well he sounds like an asshole, I hope he dies so senna gets a chance)
- I can’t BELIEVE yorrik is an anti-stratfordianist, i am betRAYED! disgraceful, how can I still love you knowing this (and yet I do he is extremely funny and sweet)!!! (at least his theory is that this so-called ‘shakespeare’ was actually an elcor, which makes it better somehow lol. anything so long as he’s not an oxfordian tbh)
senna and yorrik’s friendship is so good and wholesome
- I really love the consistent alien POVs in this book, mass effect should indulge in this more -- everyone loves this universe so much, bioware, stop making us squint through a human lense to look at it!!
- oh of course quarian ‘pirates’ exist, the people who’re thrown out of the fleet must be doing something huh.
- haven’t written that many notes in a while just because I’m enjoying myself so much, I keep forgetting
- lfsdkhfsajkldhfskadjhfsjakdfhsdkjfh communist volus!!!! this is not a drill, communist volus! I am completely and utterly charmed by this entire book
- the quarian ancestor VI is so interesting and weirdly touching. senna is adorable (and relatably neurotic lol)
grandma AI smoking T___________T I love everything about this, she’s so cool. the worldbuilding being done around pre-geth revolution rannoch here... exquisite
- way to make me cry about batarians cat valente ;_______;
- the voice acting is SO FUCKING GOOD! I keep forgetting it’s one dude reading all these characters haha, I caught myself wanting to look up who voiced this dying batarian. (special shoutout that he does so many wonderfully distinct and specific female voices!)
- haHA I KNEW the quarian VI was a full AI (or near enough that it makes little difference tbh)!!! this fabulous grandma was self aware the entire time b i t c h e s !!!!
- the running joke of borbala’s ‘you need ______? I can make _______ happen’ is SO satisfying hahaha
ooooooh serious femslash vibes!!!! initially I thought batarian ex-crime matriarch was too old for drell PI, but this is undeniable. (I don’t think we actually ever get to know how old annex is, anyway, come to think of it) I guess if asari get to be five times older than everyone else and still fuck freely this isn’t really that weird lol
- “don’t look! it’s not so bad if you don’t look!” ofhsdalfhskldlsfjas oh senna baby boy
hey qetsi? qetsi both senna and I love grandma liat more than you. stand the fuck down
- NOOOO GRANDMA LIAT ;______________________________________;
- do you think SAM could meet liat (either ship!liat or just grandma!liat).... and have... a friend ;_________; (a cool laidback friend who isn’t a murderous angaran ai who might very well go the murder suicide sort of friendship route lol)
anyway I miss SAM a lot and love him??
- yorrik noooooooooooo this is awful everything is bad and terrible I love all of them so much why must senna be sad and watch everything he loves fade away 😭😭😭
“Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood/Clean from my hand?” He realized he’d forgotten to preface the words with an emotion. Now they wouldn’t understand what he meant.
Oh. Oh what a way to drive home the sadness and loneliness of this moment f u c k  (and again the emotion taylorson brings to it jesus cHRIST)
I’m destroyed over how much senna and yorrik love each other, cross species found family out here wrecking my heart in true mass effect style
- yorrik is such a great character though. he’d be so easy to make a one-note joke character (like most elcor have been in canon lbr), but there’s nuance and depth and just enough satsifyingly believable alienness there. (I love the staunch elcor ‘you can’t call anything love that hasn’t lasted at least two centuries’ perspective haha) his memories of his childhood and disappointment with his profession and everything... goodnight sweet prince indeed :(
- they went and made elcor hamlet heartbreaking how dare they
(to be real for a second I think some of the human culture references are a little bit clunky, but the elcor hamlet stuff is perfect. contextualizing a throwaway joke from the original trilogy and giving it emotional depth, helping us see it from the elcor perspective and how frustrating and lonely it is to be so fundamentally not emotionally understood or seen on a level most of the other races are, despite their other differences, even though you have all these feelings and want to communicate... its very good.)
fun additional fact: both mordin and yorrik have played/wanted to play polonius in a production of hamlet! though I guess mordin is the slightly problematic fave in that duo and yorrik is a sweet melancholic angel who has never done anything wrong in his life, I would say protect him but I guess it’s too late for that D:
- qetsi giving off some real ophelia vibes here, I wish yorrik was here to see it, he’s the only one who’d properly appreciate it despite it all
- I. am. SO FUCKING HUNGRY for more mass effect after this (well even more so than usual) I’m so hyped!! I love this universe so much! I want a new andromeda game with senna as quarian pathfinder and grandma liat as the ship’s AI and see how they interact with ryder and SAM! (honestly though I feel like senna might be the one who’d translate the most cleanly into a game, I think there’s a lot of potential in him that’s barely being realized towards the end there with his deep righteous rage cutting through his uncertainty. also I just want nice things for him. is that so much to ask. he is a good boy, yorrik was so right.)
- aaaah not just femslash vibes, canonical lesbians, this is not a drill! I can’t wait until they propose... ‘we get shit done together, want to be in good cop/bad cop with me until the day we die y/n?’
- the ME universe doesn’t feel quite itself without all these ‘background’ species hanging around, I suddenly realize. I dream of an Andromeda sequel with all of them on the board and in play again Y-------Y
- potential Liat and SAM dynamics are so fucking interesting though! if she becomes/is confirmed as a full AI (all I hope and dream of), you’ll have two artificial intelligences with such different starting points but not that dissimilar goals? Liat was an organic person once who’s looking out for her family even now, and SAM is completely artificial but also intimately tied to and protecting His People. (and pulling a whole lot of symbolic weight re: the strength of familial/interpersonal relationships to boot; he’s the best way alec ryder managed to connect with his children. even though he was dead. because as established alec ryder was a disaster of a person)
- I enjoyed the loose murder mystery structure of this quite a lot, but that might also be because nexus uprising is so shapeless and meandering by comparison that I’d be relieved by anything else (sorry I’ll stop ragging on NU soon it just. took some hours of my life I can’t get back)
- jemisin did great stuff for characters already in andromeda (cora, SAM, alec ryder) and valente made me remember just why I love this universe so much and desperately want these aspects brought to andromeda too... and now I’ve exhausted all the fresh mass effect content I had available to me and will sit here consumed with lust for the rest of the time it takes for a new game to be announced thank you and goodbye

Part 1 Part 2
Part 3 The Revelation
Dec. 31st, New Year's Eve
Early morning, Thomas Hunt's suite, The Four Seasons...
"What is so important that you can't discuss it over the phone?" Thomas asked, wiping the lingering spots of shaving cream off his face.
"I need your permission to invoke your name." Addison sat down and prepared herself for the battle ahead.
Thomas looked down at her in surprise. "I beg your pardon. Why are you wanting to use my name?"
Addison twisted her purse strap around her fingers nervously. "Let's just say it would be used in helping a lonely man win the heart of the lady he has fallen for."
Thomas took a step back. "What are you going to do to Amanda?"
Addison looked up in shock. "Amanda? Who's--" her eyes widened. "It's her isn't it? The one you were staring at the other night. Wait! Did you spend yesterday with her?" Her brow furrowed in thought. "That's why you both weren't at the tea."
He couldn't think of what to say to make her stop discovering all his secrets.
"Thomas! This is wonderful!" She stood and hugged him. "It is about time you found someone you like!"
He untangled himself from her. "Yes, well, I don't want any interference in this."
Addison waived that notion away. "My plan isn't for you. It's for helping Liam."
Thomas ran a hand down his face. How had he let slip what he wasn't quite ready to share with his friends? "Do whatever you want." He held his door open for her to leave. "And try and forget this conversation."
Addison checked the time. "Right, I'm off." She paused at the door. "Don't think though that I will forget any of this. I expect to hear the entire story when I have a free moment, and I mean everything."
Thomas shut the door and pressed his forehead against it. Perfect, he thought. Just perfect.

Across town in Nadia's apartment...
"We're here!" Kai yelled out as she and Damien walked in. "Nadia!"
"I'm coming!" She came out in her white silk ball gown and mask. She twirled around and waited. "What do you think?"
"You're beautiful!" Kai exclaimed. She slowly walked around her cousin and nodded. "It's perfect."
"Yeah?" Nadia lifted her mask off. “Really?”
"I already told you it was." Damien muttered on his way to the kitchen. "Why you Park women only believe it when the other says so is a mystery."
"Well, you’re the detective." Kai teased. "Maybe that’s what attracted you to us."
He rolled his eyes and started the coffee maker. "I don't know why I got stuck with you two."
Kai walked over and kissed him. "Perhaps that explains it."
His smirk appeared. "Perhaps I need more information to go on."
"I love the two of you together," Nadia interrupted, "but I have an emergency here! How should I style my hair?"
"I thought you invited us over for breakfast." Damien complained.
"I did! Breakfast and help before Kai leaves us for the night." Nadia explained.
"I can't believe you have to work." Damien pulled Kai close and kissed her again.
"Don't worry." She looped her arms around his neck. "I'll come by after to receive the kiss I would have gotten at midnight."
"Now that that's settled," Nadia said in a huff, "can we please focus on me trying to look my best to get Maxwell's attention?"
"You already have it. In fact, I don't have to go to this at all now that you've got him." Damien smiled at the thought.
"Wrong." Kai told him. "You have to go for moral support. Plus she doesn't have him completely, yet."
"Thank you!" Nadia gestured to her cousin. "Listen to her!"
"Why do I even bother disagreeing with you two?" He leaned against the counter and sighed. "What time are we to be there?"
"Seven." Nadia told him. During his grumbling, she ran back to her bedroom to change, promising to start breakfast.

A short time later, Hana's suite, The Four Seasons...
"I'm coming!" Hana tied her robe closed and checked the peep hole.
She opened it and took the large bouquet of pink roses. "Um--"
"Special delivery." The porter told her with a smile.
"Thank you!" She called out as he left. She lowered her face into the perfect blooms and took a deep breath of their sweet smell before setting them on a table.
She plucked the card and opened it.
"Oh!" She softly squealed, reading Rashad's words.
Dearest Hana, I want to do this properly, so there is no mistaking my intentions. I am asking you if you would be my date for the masquerade ball tonight. There is no one else I would rather have in my arms when the clock strikes midnight.
-Rashad
She sat down as she reread his words a few more times.
When another knock occurred, she practically floated to answer it. "Yes?"
Rashad was leaning against the doorframe and smiled at her surprise. "I hope it isn't too soon for an answer."
"I would love to go with you." She told him. "This was such a--the flowers--and you--" she shook her head while pressing his card to her heart. "Thank you."
He pressed a kiss to her cheek. "Then I will come by this evening to escort you."

Olivia's suite, The Four Seasons...
"Are you awake?" Olivia asked as she finished applying her lipstick.
"No!" Amanda said with a hint of irritation. "Why would I be? It's still dark outside."
"That's because it's cloudy." Olivia tried not to laugh at her friends hatred of being awakened so early.
"Why are all my friends morning people?" Amanda muttered while balancing the phone on her ear. "If you're calling about breakfast, please feel free to eat without me. Always feel free to if you decide to get up at this ungodly hour."
"Very well." Olivia turned to check her hair. "I was going to share some interesting news with you about who I am attending the ball with."
"It's Drake." Amanda said while yawning.
Olivia stilled. "What--how did you know?"
"We've all known for some time now." Olivia could hear Amanda rolling over in bed. "You two need to learn that you both can't disappear and reappear at the same time."
"We don't! We--"
"I'm very happy you two are finally making it official. I think I can speak for Maxwell and Liam and say, it's about time." Amanda yawned again. "May I go back to sleep or was there something else you wanted to tell me at this inhumane time of day?"
Olivia shook her head. "Go back to sleep. Next time I'll hide it better."
"I don't think there will be an opportunity for that." Amanda muttered, already closing her eyes. "According to Maxwell's prediction, we will all kiss the one tonight."

In a tiny studio apartment in the East Village...
Riley stumbled out of bed and hurried to her door. "Who is it?" She asked, yawning.
"It's me!" Daniel answered.
She turned the bolt and opened her door. "What's wrong? Why are you up so early?"
"Remember the table of famous people you worked last night?" He asked.
"Yeah." She said, her tone a bit apprehensive.
"There was one there, a blonde, who does all the costumes and such."
Riley continued to look at him in confusion. "Daniel, why did you wake me up for this?"
"Hear me out." He pleaded. "Her boss is the director, Thomas Hunt. She forgot about needing a dress for the actress in his new movie and--"
"Who's the actress?" Riley asked.
"Oh, uh, I can't remember her name." Daniel stammered, realizing that Addison had not given him a name to use. "Anyway, that actress is out of the country visiting family and the blonde needs someone to use for measurements." He noticed she had not spoken and kept explaining. "She wanted to ask you last night since you're figure is similar to the movie star's."
"Yeah, sure." Riley shrugged. "I can help out, I suppose."
"Great! Get dressed." He ordered.
"What? Right now?!" She asked.
"Yes, she needs to show it to him today and she's afraid of losing her job if she doesn't have a dress ready. It's for some big romance scene or something." Daniel explained.
Riley flopped back on her futon. "Daniel!" She whined. "Do you have any idea how tired I am?"
"She's willing to pay you for your time." He told her. "Every little bit helps us get that place on the beach."
Riley sighed and sat up. "You're right. I should do this since I missed out on last night's tips." She asked him to start her coffee while she got ready.
Once he heard her shower start, he called Addison. "She's agreed. Make sure you have a name ready for who the dress is supposed to be for."
"We will." Addison promised. "Thanks so much for helping us put them together."
He grinned at her excitement. "My pleasure."

An hour later, Liam's suite, The Four Season's...
Liam sat at a table loaded with different breakfast items. He half listened to his two friends as they talked plans for the new year.
"Tonight's the night." Maxwell reminded them. "I can literally feel the teetering point of our lives."
Drake rolled his eyes. "I doubt one night has the power to change what happens."
"You'd be surprised." Liam muttered behind his coffee cup.
"Why are you both so down? Is it because you don't have dates?" Maxwell asked. "None of us do, I think. Amanda might by now. The rest of after us though--"
"I have a date." Drake tried to keep the pride out of his tone.
Liam's eyes widened and he shared a loaded glance with Maxwell. "Do you want to tell us who it is, or would you rather we guess?"
Drake shook his head. "It's Olivia. We--"
"Have been spending secret time together." Maxwell finished. "We know."
"I glad you two decided to admit it to us and everyone else." Liam grinned at Drake's shock. "We wondered when you would finally trust us."
"How did you figure it out?" Drake demanded. “We were so careful!“
"It wasn't hard. There's five of us that are usually together." Maxwell reminded him.
"Hard not to notice a habitual disappearing of two of our members every other night." Liam remarked.
Drake frowned some. "Enough about that, are you two focused on someone or taking a chance?"
"A little bit of both." Maxwell thought about Nadia and smiled. "I expect big things tonight."
"You always do." Liam added. "I'm completely on my own and will not be taking anymore chances."
"Anymore? When did you take a chance?" Drake asked.
Liam lowered his eyes and shrugged. "It doesn't matter. The point is that I look forward to celebrating with my friends and to returning to Cordonia." He thought he needed a reminder of where he belonged. Alone.
His two friends exchanged a silent, worried look.
Maxwell raised his coffee cup. "Here's to another new year together."
Drake added his cup and cocked an eyebrow at Liam.
He forced a smile for their benefit and lifted his in salute. "To another new year together."
______________
Amanda's suite, a couple of hours after Olivia's call...
"I will kill him." Amanda muttered while hobbling to her door being knocked on. "I don't care if he is one of my best friends and has brought doughnuts this time. I am sick of being forced awake!"
She stepped wrong on her hurt ankle and gasped while a multitude of colorful phrases sat on the tip of her tongue, ready to be screamed out. She took a few painful breaths while blinking back tears, more determined than ever to physically harm Maxwell. Only he would dare to wake her in this manner. Again!
She jerked the door open without checking, ready to lay into him, and stared in surprise.
"Good morning." Thomas greeted. "I hope I didn't wake you."
"No, it's fine." She quickly closed her robe and tied it. "Won't you come in?"
He stepped inside and noticed her painful gait immediately. "You shouldn't be on that ankle."
"I wouldn't be if people would stop waking me up." She mumbled to herself as she sat down. “It really is not necessary to--"
Thomas knelt down, took her foot carefully in his hands, and studied her still swollen ankle. "I don't think you will be able to go to the ball tonight."
"I'll be fine." She argued. "I just won't dance. Or wear shoes." She bit her lip when his fingers slid gently against her bruising. "My gown is long enough, so no one will notice."
"I think you shouldn't force yourself to go." His dark eyes met hers. "Unless, it is because you have a date this evening."
"I don't." She quickly replied. "There isn't anyone who will be waiting for me."
Thomas seemed to relax once he heard that. He had hoped that was the case. "We could spend New Year's here." He offered.
"I suppose I should spend it in my room, though I--" Her eyes widened. "We? Thomas, I can't ask you to give up going to the ball tonight. Joelle will have a party worthy of all her guests combined. I believe with your artistic eye that you will enjoy it."
He studied her face, noticing the pink forming on her cheeks and how she was nervously biting her bottom lip. "I think I would enjoy being here more than the ball."
Her long eyelashes fell against her cheeks as she avoided his gaze. "As selfish as it sounds, I would prefer having you here with me. It isn't that I mind being alone, I--" she looked up at him. "I like being around you."
His lips curved in a soft smile. "Then I will go talk to the concierge about dinner and explain to Joelle about our absence this evening." He stood up and asked for her room key. "I don't want you getting up to let me back in."
"It isn't any trouble." She gingerly stood up and tried to hide her painful reaction. "I will have to anyway for room service." She looked down at her robe. "And of course to get dressed for the day and evening."
"You don't have to get dressed up." Thomas reached out and took her hand. "We can be--"
"It's New Year's Eve!" She exclaimed. "And if I am spending it with you then I am wearing my new gown." Her blush was nearly covering her face when she almost let it slip out that she wanted him to think she was pretty.
"Very well." He squeezed her hand. "I will still come up here once I'm done with my errands to help keep you off your feet."
She decided for once in her life to be bold and took a step forward, placing a kiss his cheek. "Thank you for trying to make this New Year's special."
He stared down at her face as he caressed her cheek. "I haven't done much except invite myself over."
She smiled at him. "I beg to differ." She stepped back and retrieved one of her key cards. "Here, once I am dressed for the day, I promise to stay for the most part on the couch."
He chuckled and walked towards her door. "Good." He turned to look at her. "I will see you soon."

A popular formal gown store along West 35th Street, in the heart of the Garment District , before opening...
"I can't believe that Thomas Hunt wanted to use my store for this, or that Jessica Clark would be browsing through my selection!" The middle aged manager explained.
Addison avoided looking directly at him. "Yes, Thomas is a stickler about clothing and wanted to make sure I had one purchased in New York."
"But to use me instead of going straight to the designer!" He said again. "This is such an honor."
Holly held up a dress to hide her muffled laughter.
Addison nodded again, at a loss for words.
Jessica walked over to try and help. "Hunt had heard that you had one of the largest selections and wanted to take advantage of that instead of being stuck with one single designer's creation."
"That's good." Addison mumbled, impressed with her quick thinking. "I mean it's good that Thomas sees that variety is the best way for me to find what he wants."
"Here they come!" Holly shouted.
Jessica handed her dress to the manager. "I will be buying this for myself once we take care of Hunt's mission."
"Really?!" He asked. "Ms. Clark, I--"
"Words fail you, blah blah blah, go set everything up!" Holly turned him around and gave a push. "Hurry!"
Addison watched him run off then went to greet Daniel and Riley.
"Riley, thank you so much for helping me with this." Addison lead her further into the store. "Thomas can be harsh when I don't have everything prepared."
Riley fought back her yawn. "No problem." She looked at the racks of beautiful dresses and posed a few questions. "So who is the actress that gets to wear one of these?"
"Taylor Carruthers." Addison promptly replied. “This will be her film debut.”
"Oh." Riley muttered. "Do I really look like her?”
"Positive!" Addison turned to her friends to back her up. "Doesn't Riley's figure look like Taylor's?"
"From the neck down she is a dead ringer." Holly replied.
"Definitely." Jessica chimed in.
"Okay. So you just need my measurements?" Riley asked.
"Um, well." Addison stalled. "Would you mind trying on a few dresses?"
Riley tried to control her irritation. She was exhausted from the extra shifts at work and of course meeting a secret king. "I can try on a few, but then I have to get some sleep before I go to work tonight."
"Of course." Holly and Jessica rushed ahead toward the changing rooms. "We have all picked a few for you to try on. Feel free to add any suggestions of what you think looks best on you." Addison explained.
Riley cast a helpless glance back at Daniel before falling into their plan.
The next hour had her trying on a veritable rainbow of gowns. She had to walk around in them, sit, and at one point dance in one. "Is this really necessary?" She asked when they had Daniel dip her.
"I know it seems weird but it is a part of the process." Holly told her, shaking her head no when Addison asked what they thought.
"Definitely weird." Riley whispered to Daniel.
"I have one more dress." Addison held up a dress that made them all stop and stare. "If this one doesn't work then we are back to square one."
Riley stepped forward and touched the light blue gown. Silver sparkles throughout the silk shimmered in the light. She held it up against her. "It's beautiful."
"It reminds me of a modern version of Cinderella’s." Addison admitted. "I love fairy tales."
"Me too." Jessica said on a sigh.
"Try it on, Riley." Holly urged.
They watched her hurry into the room.
"That's the first time she has acted excited over trying on a dress." Daniel whispered.
"I think this might be the one!" Addison bounced with excitment. "If it is, I know just the mask and shoes to go with it."
Riley stepped out and twirled. "I love this one."
The four watching her plus the manager told her how beautiful she looked in it.
"That's the one!" Addison cheered. "Thank you for helping us with this. I will make certain you are generously compensated this evening for your time."
"Thanks." Riley reluctantly changed out of the dress and handed it over. She said her goodbyes and left with Daniel.
"Phase one of Fairy Godmother duty is complete." Jessica teased.
"I can't wait for phase two!" Addison squealed.
"I prefer phase three." Holly winked at them when they looked at her in puzzlement. "The midnight kiss."

Late afternoon, Amanda's suite at The Four Seasons...
"Why didn't you have a doctor look at this?" Olivia angrily asked. "I believe you might have some torn ligaments and a possible break with that type of swelling."
Thomas stood quietly beside her, nodding in agreement.
"Damn." Drake muttered again, turning away from the nearly black bruise covering the top and side of her foot. "That has to hurt like hell."
"It's fine." Amanda stubbornly persisted. "And I'm so happy I had the idea to invite you all by to spend a bit of New Year's Eve with you."
"Did your eyesight get damaged in the fall?" Olivia snapped. "Your foot is practically mangled and you sit there persisting it is fine!"
"I talked to the manager. A doctor is on his way up with a portable x-ray machine." Liam shook his head in both pity and admonishment. "Why have you downplayed this?"
Amanda folded her arms and avoided their gazes. "Because I know it is sprained. The reason it looks worse is because I stepped wrong this morning and a few times during the night."
Maxwell leaned down closer and studied her ankle. "I can't even see the bone structure on this side."
She pulled her foot back and softly cried out from the pain. "Then stop looking at it."
Drake told Maxwell to leave her alone on his way to answer her door.
After a thorough examination, it was deemed a fracture.
"I know it is difficult, but I ask that you attempt to not say, I told you so." Amanda said to the entire group. She clutched her hands together and bowed her head, as the doctor wrapped a cast around her foot and ankle. "I know I have the moniker of The Clumsy Duchess, but I wanted one time to not be reminded of it."
Thomas walked over and sat on the arm of the sofa. He wrapped his arm around her while the others watched with great interest as she leaned closer to him through the painful process.
"So," Maxwell turned to the doctor, "can she go to the party this evening?"
"She can, though I think after the pain of last night and this morning she would do better to rest." He replied.
"I agree." Liam insisted. "We will miss you there, but you should take it easy."
"But..." Maxwell began. "It's New Year's Eve. She can't spend it alone."
"She's not." Thomas announced. "I will be spending it with her here. We already decided that this morning"
Amanda blushed at the knowing smiles forming on their faces.
"This morning? Then we will leave you to enjoy your evening." Olivia said. She hugged her friend and whispered that she expected details tomorrow.
The others kissed her cheek and wished both a happy New Year on their way out.
The doctor finished the cast and handed her a prescription as he stood to leave. "Happy New Year to you both."
Once Thomas shut the door, she stood up and tried out her crutches. "It isn't too bad." She said while going over to her bedroom then turning back. "I shouldn't have too much trouble getting ready."
"You don't have to dress up." Thomas insisted. "I will enjoy this evening with you regardless of what you wear."
She sat back down with a sigh and shook her head. "I want to dress up. I know it might sound silly but I should, as much as I can, look my best this evening."
"Why?" Thomas asked.
Amanda chewed on her bottom lip before speaking. "Because I will be spending New Year's Eve with you." She lowered her eyes. "That in itself is significant."
"Why?” He persisted. “Because of my being famous--"
"No. Not that." She interrupted. "It is because of all you did yesterday." She reached out and took his hand. "You decided to not only help me back here, but then proceeded to spend what I am certain was an incredibly boring day and evening for you tending to me. You didn't have to, yet your kindness..." She trailed off when he sat down beside her.
"I wanted to." He murmured, pulling her into his arms. "I still want to." He pressed a kiss to her forehead, then her cheek. His lips touched the corner of hers.
She turned to brush her lips against his. His hand slid into her hair as he deepened the kiss.

Early evening, Matt Rodriguez's suite, The Four Seasons...
"Addison!" Matt tried to grab his things he needed to get ready. "Would you give me a second. I need my shaving kit and--"
"I love your scruffy look." She pushed him toward the door. "I need you to hurry before Riley and Daniel get here."
"Why do I have to leave? Why can't one of the others--" he grunted when she shoved him toward the door. "Hey!"
Once she got him out in the hall, she pulled him close for a passionate kiss. "I love you." She whispered. "But I need all of our suite to do my work. You are too handsome to not be distracting." She shut the door after another kiss.
He dropped his head and walked over to Thomas's door.
Thomas opened his door while tying his bowtie. "What is it?"
"Can I use your room to get ready?" Matt asked. "Addison needs the suite for her love project or whatever she is calling it."
Thomas stepped back. "Come in. I'm nearly done and you can have it."
"Where are you going so early? We still have an hour or so before the ball." Matt dropped his things on a table.
"I'm not going to the ball." Thomas informed him, on the way back to his bedroom.
"You're not? Why? Where are you going dressed up?" Matt called out.
Thomas stepped back out, fully dressed in his tuxedo, and smoothed his hair back. "I have other plans."
Matt waited on him to further explain. Thomas slipped some key cards in his pocket and said goodnight on his way out.
Back in Matt's suite a flurry of three women rushed about to not only get themselves ready but to be prepared to give a waitress and king a night to remember.
When the knock was heard, they tried to calm their excitement.
After a clearing of her throat, Jessica opened the door. "Riley! Please come in."
Riley stepped in and smiled at them. "Hi. Daniel said you needed to see me before the party."
"Yes." Addison motioned for her to come in. "We have a confession of sorts."
"Oh?" Riley sat down when Holly asked her to.
"The dress we had you try on was not meant for Taylor." Addison admitted. “Actually, there is no Taylor at all.”
"We also aren't in the midst of beginning a new movie." Jessica added.
"And though Thomas is cantankerous, he is not unreasonable over a missing dress or two. He would not fire Addison for not having one ready." Holly added. "He can actually be quite understanding when we mess up."
Riley's brow furrowed with confusion. "Then why did you have me come this morning?"
"We want you to come to the ball tonight. The dress is yours along with the mask and all." Addison explained.
Riley stared in shock. “That’s sweet, but I have to work. I--”
“Daniel has that all taken care of. He has a friend that owes him a huge favor and he will take over the waiter duties.” Holly explained.
Riley shook her head again. “I don’t think I should go. Liam will be there and I already refused his invitation.”
“Why did you refuse?” Jessica asked.
Riley hesitated. “I fell for him pretty hard. Then finding out he was a king...I know nothing of his world. I don’t belong. That hurt enough to not spend what I know will be a magical night with him.” She lowered her head and picked at her skirt. “I was nothing but a distraction for him.”
Addison sat down beside her and wrapped her in a warm hug. “That’s not true. We saw him. He has fallen for you too. I don’t think he once thought of you as a distraction.”
Holly nodded. “I agree. He is not the type to do anything haphazard. He likes you. I think he planned on beginning a relationship with you.”
Riley looked up at their earnest faces. She took a deep breath and relented. “I might as well have a fun time at the party if you got me out of work.”
“That’s the spirit!” Addison gave her orders to the others and hugged Riley again. “Tonight is going to be life changing.

A little after nine  The Masquerade Ball, The Four Seasons Ballroom...
“Woo!” Maxwell exclaimed. “This is one more party Joelle has thrown.”
Liam nodded while sipping his drink. “Yes, it is.”
“Are you going to tell me what’s wrong or am I--” Maxwell stared at the woman in white that walked by. She turned back to look at him and smiled before continuing on her way.
“Go on.” Liam said good naturedly. “I promise I am enjoying this ball.”
Maxwell smiled and chased after the woman as she disappeared in the crowd.
“Good evening.”
Liam softly groaned and turned toward the lady who spoke. His eyes swept down her light blue gown and he felt himself drawn to her. “Good evening, Ms.?”
“Riley.” She said with a smile at his surprise. “I was invited by a king, I think. Who knows with that guy.”
“Riley, you look beautiful.” He murmured. “I thought you didn’t want to come.”
“A part of me didn’t.” She admitted. “You should know that you have some guardian angels that think very highly of you.” She motioned toward the three couples that were watching them without shame.
Liam recognized them even with their masks on. He smiled and bowed to them.
“He is so perfect.” Addison sighed.
Matt cleared his throat.
She hugged him. “I’m glad we were able to give him the one he wanted.” She pulled on Matt’s arm and led him to the dance floor.
“I guess we should stop spying on Liam and Riley.” Jessica whispered.
“For the moment.” Holly decided. “I’m still determined to see them kiss at midnight.”

A little after ten, at the Masquerade Ball...
“...and now I have another floor of the gallery being offered to display my latest works.” Nadia finished with a shy shrug.
“Wow.” Maxwell smiled at her. “Cute, smart, and incredibly talented.”
Damien rolled his eyes at their conversation and focused on his dessert.
“Would you like to dance?” Maxwell asked
“Yes!” She hopped up and took his hand.
Damien watched them move closer to one another when a slow song started. He pulled his phone out and snapped a picture of the pair. He sent it to Kai and added the text letting her know who it was.
“He’s cute.” she texted back. “How’s it going?”
“Great.” he responded. “They both think the other is perfect.”
______________
One hour until midnight, The Masquerade Ball...
“Do you want to dance again?” Drake asked, pulling Olivia close.
“I think I am danced out.” She replied. “Who’s that with Liam? He hasn’t left her side for hours now.”
“I don’t recognize her.” Drake looked over and noticed how Liam held her close during another waltz. His smile was one of genuine happiness. “Whoever she is, he likes her.”
Kiara interrupted their observation by asking Drake to dance.
Olivia narrowed her eyes and spoke before Drake could. “He’s with me.”
Kiara lifted an eyebrow. “Really? As in--”
“As in we are a couple now and have been for quite some time!” Olivia snapped. “If he wanted you he would have pursued you like he did me.” She motioned toward a group of men talking. “Go sniff around over there. I’m sure there is someone that will be willing to dance.”
Kiara’s face was flushed with embarrassment as she scurried away.
“Liv,” Drake choked on his laughter. “That was brutal.”
“No it wasn’t. I could have said a lot more but tempered it for the sake of being polite.” She huffed. “And you better start letting all these so called ladies know you are no longer available for slumming.”
“Being with me is slumming?” He asked, surprised she thought that way.
“Of course not!” She rolled her eyes. “You are slumming whenever you get with those women who only plan on using you.”
Drake pulled her into a passionate kiss.
“A little early, isn’t it?” She teased.
“I don’t care.” He kissed her again.
_____________
On the other side of the ballroom...
Rashad twirled Hana, smiling at her laughter when he pulled her back into his arms. “Are you having a good time?”
“I’m having the best time.” She told him. “I’ve never enjoyed a party as much as I have this one.”
“Me too.” Rashad admitted. “I know it is because of you.” He led her off the dance floor and snagged two glasses of champagne from a nearby waiter. “Hana, would you...” He swallowed a gulp of his drink and tried again. “Would you like to start seeing each other on a regular basis?”
“Do you mean dating?” She asked with a shy smile.
“Yes.” He stammered.
“I would love to.” She kissed his cheek.
____________
Fifteen minutes until midnight, Amanda’s suite...
“What did you do?” Amanda asked, tears of laughter building at his story.
“I walked out.” Thomas popped open a bottle of champagne. “I made certain to take two pillows to cover my,” he motioned down his waist, “and hailed a cab.”
He smiled at her burst of laughter. He then prepared two glasses and handed her one.
“What should we drink to?” He asked, sitting down beside her.
“I suppose the old year ending in a few minutes.” She replied. “And to what comes next.”
“I am looking forward to that.” He tapped his glass against hers.
“What plans do you have for the new year?” Amanda asked, setting her glass aside.
“I have a few.” Thomas set his arm along the back of the sofa, winding a lock of her hair around his finger. “One of which concerns you.”
“Oh?” She reached over and straightened his bowtie. “And what might that be?”
“Inviting you out to California.” He scooted closer to her. “Visiting Cordonia.”
“I would like that.” She said softly as his lips brushed hers.
“Then it’s settled.” He kissed her once more.
_______________
One minute to midnight, The Masquerade Ball...
“They’re in position!” Addison squealed.
"Why aren’t we this exciting anymore?” Ryan muttered as Holly and Jessica moved with Addison closer for a better view.
Matt shrugged while Seth folded his arms.
As the countdown began the three couples watched as Liam and Riley shared a long tender kiss.
“That has to be the most romantic thing I have ever seen.” Jessica said, sighing at Liam gently caressing Riley’s cheek.
“I agr--” Holly squeaked when Ryan yanked her into his arms for a heated kiss. He smiled down at her surprised face.
“Happy New Year.” He pressed another kiss to her lips.
Matt and Seth followed his example with their own dates.
Liam carefully removed Riley’s mask and then his own. “I know this might seem sudden, but I want you to know my intentions.”
Riley blinked. “Your intentions? What do you mean?”
“I want to court you.” He began. “With the intention of making you Cordonia’s queen.”
Riley shook her head. “Liam, you don’t know me! I have no clue where to even begin with how wrong I would be as queen. I was a fine arts major in college! I--”
“You would learn all the protocols.” He told her. “The most important role as queen would be as the beloved wife of Cordonia’s king.” He kissed her to stop her next argument. “If during our courtship you think it is too much, or I’m not what you want, then I won’t bother you again.” His blue eyes focused on her dark ones. “I can’t leave New York tomorrow evening without knowing I will have a chance to see you again.”
Riley looked around at this world he wanted her a part of. “I--” She looked back up into his handsome face and nodded. “Okay. I’ll try.”
He hugged her tight. “Thank you.” He placed a kiss on her cheek.
_______________
On the other side of the ballroom...
Maxwell thought this might be a kiss he never wanted to end. Nadia fit perfectly in his arms.
She stepped back when they paused for a breath. “Maxwell?”
“Yeah?” He tried to pull her back.
“How long are you going to be in New York?” She asked.
“As long as you want me to.” His lips crashed down on hers.
_____________
Afternoon, Liam’s suite...
“You’re staying?” Liam asked.
“Yeah, Nadia wants to show me around.” Maxwell grinned bashfully. “I might be gone a few more weeks.”
“What are your plans?” Liam asked Amanda.
“I’m going to spend another week here and then come home.” She blushed some as she continued. “Thomas plans on remaining here with me then coming to Cordonia for a visit in two weeks.”
Drake and Olivia narrowed their eyes at Liam. “Who was the lady in blue you were with last night?” Drake asked.
“Riley Brooks.” He smiled at his friends. “She has agreed to entering into a courtship with me.”
Maxwell and Amanda looked up at him in surprise. “You met someone?” he asked.
“I did.” Liam said proudly. “I think she might be the one.”
“You kissed her at midnight?” Maxwell asked. With Liam’s nod he turned to Amanda, “You kissed Thomas at midnight too, right?”
“Yes.” She said slowly “Why?”
“And I assume you two shared a tender moment.” Maxwell said to Drake and Olivia.
“I wouldn’t call it tender.” Olivia muttered.
“We did it!” Maxwell exclaimed. “We all kissed the one!”
“Isn’t it a bit too soon for some of us to think of these people as the one?” Amanda asked.
“Just you wait. By next New Year’s, you will all appreciate my awesome soothsaying skills.” Maxwell gloated.

the tarot
meaning: high priestess is a card of mystery, stillness and passivity. this card suggests that it is time to retreat and reflect upon the situation and trust your inner instincts to guide you through it. things around you are not what they appear to be right now. upright card: spiritual insight, hidden talents, intuition, things yet to be revealed, mystery reversed card : secrets, information withheld, ;ack of personal harmony element: water ruling planet: moon
the basics:

the biography:
lanie’s entrance into the world was a chaotic one. a storm blew threw the town and knocked down trees and power lines. roads were blocked and piled up and lanie was born in the backseat of the family car.
as a child she was pretty quiet and kept to herself for the most part. she didn’t have a lot of friends and she was really okay with that. she liked playing with the people she made up and the younger neighbor kids. she didn’t care if the kids in her class called her weird and didn’t play with her at recess or sit with her at lunch.
her home life was not very ideal. her father cheated on her mother on more than one occasion and though he tried to keep it a secret, the whole town knew. her mother knew, of course, but she still loved him and hated the idea of being alone. neither of them believed in divorce, so they stayed unhappily married. lanie swore she would never live like that. she hated the idea of living a lie for all of her life.
as she got older, she came out of her shell. she spent her middle school years joining clubs and sports and made friends with all types of people. she wasn’t necessarily popular, but she was that girl that everyone knew in some way.
she still thinks high school was the best years of her life. she had such a good time, and honestly a little too much fun. she spent her days studying and doing homework and spent her nights sneaking out her bedroom window to go to parties or to meet boys to kiss in the backseat of a car.
she was actually a really good student, as well. she made straight As and always had high test scores. she ended up graduating the first semester of senior year and started college the following spring semester.
her relationship with THE STAR was a complicated one. for the longest time, she loved him so much. the relationship was everything she dreamed of and more. it was healthy and nothing like her parents. as time went on, things got a little worse. they would fight and make up and break up and get back together. that was their typical cycle for the longest time. their last fight was the breaking point, however. lanie couldn’t take anymore of the back and forth. it broke her heart that the person she once loved the most was now someone she hated.
she found out she was pregnant just less than a month after the breakup and she really didn’t know what to do. it was an internal struggle for the longest time, but she couldn’t keep it secret forever. she told evangeline first and somehow her best friend convinced her to join the church she had been skeptical of her whole life. she never felt a connection to god before, but being pregnant gave her a whole new perspective on life. she still doesn’t trust the church completely, but she thinks they mean well.
through all of this, she really became close with JUSTICE. they were the person who was there for her through the hell she went through in her relationship with THE STAR. she fell in love with them and it almost felt a little selfish. now with helena missing, who was such a sweet person, she doesn’t want to hurt them anymore than they’re hurting already. more than anything, she doesn’t want this relationship to end the same way her last one did.
the thoughts:
YOU JUST WANT WHAT’S BEST FOR YOUR BABY. AND ACCORDING TO THE HIEROPHANT, THAT MEANT JOINING ROSE’S THE SECOND YOU FOUND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT. IT’S OVERBEARING, YES, BUT THEY JUST WANT YOU TO HAVE THE BEST, AND YOU’RE NOT USED TO THAT. SO YOU’LL TRY YOUR BEST NOT TO BUCKLE UNDER THEIR PRESSURE.

Finding the Lost King (A Sterek AU)
“Stiles, do not need to do this. We will find another way.” Stiles smiled at Cora before sitting down, facing the man who had information on finding Cora’s lost brother. “You have given your word. If you fail to follow through, there will be consequences.” The man smiled. “Yes, yes, now drink.”
Stiles took a gulp of the cup the man had handed him and after a moment of delay, smiled. The man looked down at his cup in confusion before looking to Stiles again. “How?” “Your poison has no power over me. Now give us the answers we seek.”
I’ve got a lot of catching up to do lol. This is from my Lost King AU (You can read the other drabbles in this here) and the words for this are: Drink, power, and delay from @sterekdrabbles on Wednesday, June 5th
“Do you know what my family has always been?” “Lycanthropes?” Cora growled, too upset to appreciate Stiles’ sarcasm. “Besides that.” “What?” “Wild and Prideful. We never allow outsiders to help. And you drank poison in there, all to help my brother, someone you do not know. Why?” Stiles was quiet for too long and Cora found her temper dissolving. “Talk to me, Stiles.”
“I have not been exactly honest with you.” Cora crossed her arms over her chest. “What do you mean?” “I know your brother. I have dreamt of him since I was a child.” Cora’s eyes widened. “What?”
The words for this are: Wild, Upset, and Talk from Wednesday, June 26th with the themed week of Pride! Thanks!
“When I was a child, I dreamt of a large, black wolf. I was walking through the woods and there he stood. When I neared him, he growled, deeming me an enemy. But when he sensed I did not fear him, he allowed me to approach. I think I wounded his pride though because instead of letting him sniff my hand, I patted his head.” Cora bit back a laugh. “He needed to collect himself after that I take it?” “Yes. But then he showed me around his forest and instead of feeling like a guest, I felt at home.”
The words for this are: Guest, Collect, and Enemy from Friday, June 28th with the themed week of Pride. Thank you!
“How did you figure out he was not just human?” Stiles reached up to rub his thumbs over his temples, remembering. “A nightmare. It was only ever dreams, with the wolf. But one night, I dreamt of a bloody battle, of loss so painful, I could not cope. In it, there lay a man, bleeding, barely alive. When I reached him, he opened his eyes to look at me. And something snapped inside of me because the eyes looking at me belonged to my wolf. I knew that without a doubt. Before either of us could say anything, I woke.”
Dun dun dun. LOL. The words for this are: Cope, battle and rub from Wednesday, July 3rd. Thanks!
Cora was silent for a moment before she sighed, speaking up. “My brother always knew how to captivate an audience. He was quiet growing up and loved reading books. But when you got him to talk about things he was passionate about? Or even when he was teaching someone something? It was easy to listen to him, and easier to absorb what he was giving us information about.” “You miss him.” “I miss him a ton.” “Cora, I know he was cursed, but I do not know the details. Do you?” She bit her lip before she shook her head.
The words for this are: Captivate, absorb, and ton from Friday, July 5th. Thank you!
“I was visiting my uncle and cousin when we received news from a messenger sent by King Argent. He informed us that our home had been burned and that he had sent in men to look for survivors but had found none. I was devastated and wanted to immediately go back home. But my uncle refused to let me, trying to reason with me, trying to protect me. And I stayed with them until the half-baked rumors began, about my brother being alive, being cursed. In the end, I was too curious not to at least try to find him.”
The story continues to develop lol. The words from this are: protect, half and reason from Wednesday, July 10th. Thank you!
“So you scoured the lands, ensuring you covered every spot?” “It is too much land, I could never. I followed the rumors, talked to whoever I could.” “And what did you figure out?” Cora sighed. “The place I am going to next, is not exactly known as friendly to lycanthropes.” Stiles could sense the tension in her and tried to make her smile. “Does it at least have nice views?” She rolled her eyes but did manage to smile. “No.” “Well then, what are we waiting for?” “Stiles.” “I promised to help you find you brother. I keep my promises.”
We’re getting there, ladies, gentlemen, and non-binary pals. The words for this are: Ensure (I used ensuring), Land, and View from Wednesday, July 17th. Thanks!
The crowd that had gathered to participate in the auction of a drugged and chained lycanthrope had run away screaming when Cora had bared fangs and claws. Stiles had run after the man who had dragged the bound werewolf off the makeshift stage. Fearing the worst, she raced back to save Stiles and stopped short at the sight before her. The captor was on his knees, holding up his hands in surrender, clearly frightened, and begging for his life. “Stiles?” Cora asked, quietly. When Stiles turned to face her, his eyes were glowing white, and her own widened in shock.
DUN DUN DUN LOL. I’m a dork I know. The words for this are: crowd, beg (I used begging) and frighten (I used frightened) from Monday, July 15th :D
The look of shock on Cora’s face had calmed Stiles enough for them to incapacitate the captor and free the lycanthrope. When Cora looked at Stiles for answers, he spoke up. “As you can tell I am not exactly human. We are a rare rank, known as Magia, or magic users. Normally I can keep my temper better but I had another dream, a nightmare really. I could see your brother suffering and it felt like my fault because it has taken me so long to find him.” “The Lost King?” The free werewolf spoke. “I know where he is.”
So closeeeeeee. The words for this are: Suffering, Fault, and Rank with the weekly theme of Dreams from Friday, July 26th :D
Cora was not happy when Stiles arranged a safe departure for the lycanthrope they freed, because it included her going along since the man still had the lingering effect of drugs but left Stiles on his own to free her brother.
After they left, Stiles’ owl landed on his shoulder. “Am I out of line? To free a King I have never seen in reality but have fallen in love with in my dreams?” Because there had been dreams Stiles had not told Cora about, in which he and the Lost King had conversations, and Stiles’ heart had been captured.
Ooh la la. LOL. The words for this are: Arrange (I used arranged), Line, and Include (I used included) from Monday, July 29th. Thanks!
Stiles reached his destination. There had been armed guards but had been put to sleep with a simple spell. And now, the Lost King was sleep-cursed on an altar. Stiles could feel his body humming with power, reverberating through his veins. This is what he had traveled so long for, the male that was Stiles’ destiny. It felt like a chorus of angels should be singing but there was only silence. Knowing what he needed to do next, Stiles stepped up, and looked down at the Lost King, Derek Hale. “I am here, amica mea. Everything will be fine now.”
Voila! The climax! Well, for now lol. Amica mea is Latin for my love in case anyone was curious, unless I got that translation wrong lol. The words for this are from today, which are: Vein, Spell, and Chorus. I do eventually want to make this AU into a full story (Or write more drabbles for it. As I said before, if you want to read the other drabbles in this AU, it’s under the tag here! ) Thank you so much for those who read and enjoy my Sterek drabbles. And thank you very much to @sterekdrabbles for posting the drabbles challenge every week. You rock! Now I’m off to write more drabbles because I still have a lot of catching up to do. Thanks all!

“and we know that Peter was canonically obsessed with Scott" LMFAO, talking about wishful thinking and canon erasure! Confusing what you desperately wanted to happen with what actually happened in canon once again, aren’t we, delusionals?
Actually, what we know is that Peter Hale canonically doesn’t give a literal crap about Scott McCall, has always considered Scott McCall like a particularly dumb (or should I say "below average”?), annoying fly in his ointment to get rid of, and has never even bothered to hide the fact that he wants to see true nuisance Scoot dead and preferibly buried six feet under for good–hence Peter actively trying to kill Scott on several occasions, actively encouraging Malia, Liam, and the others to “kill it” and “aim at the skull” in season 4, and then actively encouraging Malia to leave Scott to die in season 6. We also know that Peter Hale did get a redemption arc, and that Peter Hale’s entire redemption arc canonically revolves around Derek Hale, Cora Hale, Stiles Stilinski, Lydia Martin, and his own daughter. That’s literally canon, delusionals. *shrugs*
As for Peter needing Derek and Scott’s help in season 1, Peter has explicitly said that the reason wolves hunt in packs is because their favourite prey (the Argents in Peter’s case) is too big and too strong to be taken down by a single wolf, and that he needed at least two betas in order to take down the Argents. I mean, it’s obvious Peter does actually care about Derek (in his own morbid, twisted, unique way, that is), but Scott? Scott was just an accidental tool at best; and Peter has never made a secret of the fact that he had no other use for him besides that either. Once achieved his revenge, Scott could go die in a ditch alongside Gerard Argent for all Peter cared.
And of course it wasn’t Scott’s choice to get bitten by a feral wolf! But neither was Peter’s to bite Scott specifically either, since canon makes it crystal clear that the only reason Scott got ever bitten in the first place is because Peter was literally INSANE [Peter himself admitted that he wasn’t in his right mind at the time] and Scott just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (friendly reminder that no one has ever put a gun to Scott’s head and forced him to follow his neurodivergent best friend into the woods that night, Scott chose to follow Stiles on his own volition.) Peter canonically didn’t bite Scott because he wanted to recruit Scott specifically or because he thought Scott was anything special–the literal opposite, actually. It could have been anyone, really; it only happened to be d̶u̶m̶b̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶o̶x̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶S̶c̶o̶t̶t̶s̶ Scott McCall because d̶u̶m̶b̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶o̶x̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶S̶c̶o̶t̶t̶s̶ Scott McCall was simply… there.
Cookie: this is delightful, I love that I have become a person to come to about fandom salt because I have plenty of my own to add lol.
I pretty much agree with all of this. The delusionals love to rant and rave about sterek/steter (or just non-Scott) fans misinterpreting canon/making up events that never happened, etc..... only to go and literally do exactly that. Peter is about as obsessed with Scott as Theo was in season 5... that is, not at all. He was just a useless obstacle that only got in the way, and caused more problems than he solved. True alpha, my ass. I stand by my belief that the fic Anthracite has the best take on the true alpha thing, but that’s neither here nor there.
You know the saying “You pay more for convenience”? Yeah, that has never been more true than in this case. Scott was there, he was convenient, and Peter never really stopped paying for that mistake. People talk about Scott like he’s a goddamn five star restaurant with a year long waiting list, but he’s the McDonald’s of the werewolf world. They keeping upping their prices and thinking they’re better than they are (the obvious parallel being Scott and his ever increasing hypocritical views on killing) but that doesn’t make them anything special.
Scott literally could not be less important to Peter’s arc and I think that’s what pisses the delusionals off the most. Because Scott is the main character! He’s the true alpha! Everyone’s life revolves around him! Except for Peter, who would honestly rather forget Scott exists, if only Scott would just stop getting into shit. Scott is like having a puppy around in the worst kind of way, and I think I’m qualified to make that statement with full sincerity as I am currently raising a 6 week old werewolf cub terror.
For Peter, his entire arc basically centers around his family. As you said, Derek, Cora, and Malia. Stiles, who has done more for the Hale pack than Scott ever would, and Lydia, who I think Peter had an interesting connection to. If he should feel remorse towards anyone, it should be Lydia after everything he put her through, from biting her to invading her mind notice how I don’t use the term “mindrape”, delusionals? but do they acknowledge that? Of course not, because who cares about the girl that was literally, and ongoing, assaulted by Peter when Scott got bit that one time in the woods.
Which, honestly, is my favorite part of their arguments. Scott going into the woods. They have no leg to stand on with that scene, and they know it, so they try to make it out as horrible as it can possibly be. But really? Scott and Stiles went out into the woods in the middle of the night. Again, the woods in the middle of the night. Anyone with half a brain knows that’s a terrible idea. Stiles also didn’t force Scott to do it. I would die for my best friend, but you can bet your life if she came to my house and tried to pull that shit I’d sooner tie her to a chair to keep her from getting eaten by something than go with her.
As for Scott getting bitten by Peter. I’ve said it before and I’ve said it again: Scott got the equivalent of a bite from a rabid dog, and then he got superpowers. Clearly the bite itself wasn’t that bad, seeing as he didn’t even go to the hospital as far as I can remember? Correct me if I’m wrong, of course. But again, in Scott’s position, anyone with half a brain would have. That theory that Scott is smarter than Stiles and Lydia really doesn’t hold up, and this is all just from the first episode of the show. The truth is, Peter biting Scott is the best thing that ever happened to him. But that doesn’t garner sympathy, so they have to twist it around and make it some terrible burden (the delusionals and canon itself) when it really... isn’t? Everything Scott has, he has because of Peter. But Peter is the bad guy, so everything he does is tainted. The only way to keep that taint away from Pure Precious Scott is to make him sound as much like a victim as possible, even going so far as to invent things, when really... he just got a bad dog bite. The same kind he could easily get from being a vet.
Not to downplay Scott’s other trauma, because there undoubtedly is some. All the characters have been through shit. But him getting bitten just really wasn’t one of the big ones. In fact, I would say it barely places.
The only ones obsessed with Scott are the delusionals, so of course they can’t see Peter being anything less than foaming at the mouth when it comes to him. But really, for how much they scream about paying attention to canon, they really do seem to miss a lot, don’t they?

some thoughts on Downton Abbey s3 (cross-posted to dreamwidth, livejournal, and pillowfort):
Thomas’ plot was as painful to watch as I imagined. Okay, his feud with O’Brien (I’ve seen up to 4x01 and I know she leaves, and I think the way she does it is hilarious xD) was kind of funny at the beginning, but. Honestly, I can’t wait for Jimmy to go away. I hatehatehate that whole story-line. Be Gone. The “I am not foul” scene, which I had seen before in gifsets, legit had me tearing up *sniffs*. Though my favourite part of it all was when Bates helped him, only to end up with Thomas as his superior, much to his chagrin xDD (and all because Thomas is good at cricket and ROBERT IS A CHILD LMAO).
I’M GOING TO MISS SYBIL SO MUCH (this and Thomas’ SL were the reasons I never managed to make myself catch up after season 2 tbh). My sweet darling. And she basically had nothing to do this season, which sucks. Everyone’s grief was so painful to watch too, specially Cora’s :’(
Violet >>>>> everything, as always. Seeing her with Cora’s mother (who I adored LOL) was one of my fave parts of the season. Like when she and Mary were trying to seduce money out of her LMAO. I loved how she tackled The Branson Problem xDD. And I’m torn about how she strong-armed the doctor into telling Cora that Sybil would’ve died either way, for Robert’s sake, because OTOH that was so HER, but on the other. Can Robert ever face serious consequences for his dumbassery? I know the answer is no, but STILL. And now that Matthew is dead I expect a lot more idiotic behavior from him in s4 ¬¬
Mary and Matthew were adorbs (the whole pre-wedding kiss/wedding sequences were A++), but I wanted to smack him over the head with the whole inheritance thing, ugh. I’m going to miss them together, though. I was always more or less neutral wrt Matthew by himself, but as a ship they are so so good. Though I’m really looking forward to how Mary’s story evolves from here; if I didn’t like her so much I might be kind of annoyed at how much devotion she gets from the writing, but as it is I always enjoyed it (as long as I ignored a huge chunk of the fandom lol).
It’s a good thing I know Edith gets a happy ending, because otherwise I would have flipped ngl. THAT guy left her at the altar?? THAT guy?? UGH. And I had to see her pursue him knowing it was going to happen :/. I hope her endgame dude was better, at least. At least things seem to be looking up? Though I assume things will go wrong with the editor, smh. Professionally speaking/in terms of self-confidence, she is doing a lot better. Also, she should wear red all the time, pls and thank u.
Rose was very, very cute, and I’m glad she’ll be in more episodes.
Post-war Isobel, up in arms, was gr10. I love her lmao. And her rapport with Violet is still awesome.

Once Upon A Time Rewatch: 5x22 Only You
Tumblr media
Does that mean Storybrooke’s magic is gone now that Rumple has tethered it to the crystal?
Well, I guess he can’t have taken all of it or Regina wouldn’t have been able to teleport etc.
Henry’s relationship with magic is like a freaking rollercoaster. At first, he thinks it’s the best thing in the world, then he hates it so much he wants to destroy it, then it’s the best thing in the world, then he tries to destroy it, then it’s the best thing in the world! But that’s kids for you, I guess! I’m sure I was like that and still can be. Come to think of it, would putting dynamite in the well in season 2 have destroyed magic?
Is that needle that’s put dozens of people under a sleeping curse the same one Maleficent used on Aurora?
Henry’s literally so powerful. I wish he could use his author powers more.
How is taking the crystal out of SB gonna destroy magic in SB?
Oh, so Rumple tethered the magic but didn’t technically absorb it from the town, so they can still use it.
Why can’t Regina text Henry to say that destroying magic would destroy SB?
Guess they can go over the town line now, for the first time in like forever. But I guess Emma & Regina & Henry could already cross the threshold, possibly Violet too as she didn’t come over with the first curse. And then the others are brought to New York by a portal.
Oh! So that’s why they can use magic in the lwom? Because Henry brought the crystal aka all the magic of Storybrooke there.
Aww. Henry and Violet are cute. I just wouldn’t recommend reading the Henry and Violet book if you appreciate their relationship in the show.
Oh, thank God. Zelena does promise to bring baby Robin to visit her brother Roland! I need them to have known each other growing up! I bet they’re really close. And Roland is just as sweet as ever and has to stop his sister being reckless. The Hufflepuff to her Slytherin (+ Gryffindor tendencies), if you will. And I need fics where Roland doesn’t grow up to be vengeful and angry. Once a Hufflepuff cupcake, always a Hufflepuff cupcake.
Did Regina agree to Roland going back to Sherwood Forest? I’m surprised she didn’t adopt him. It must have been the Merry Men’s decision because no way would they take orders from Zelena.
Aww! Roly kissing his baby sis!! I’m gonna miss you Roly!! Literally the most adorable kid! Aww and Granny kisses him on the head too! I die!!
Look at his little mittens!!
I’m guessing he doesn’t know she killed his mama but maybe he knows that she posed as her and in a strange way enjoyed his time with her? I mean, I guess you can say that as Marian Zelena did, at least, take care of Roland and bond with him. Maybe she always wanted to be a mother? Still doesn’t excuse her killing Marian and posing as her. Just trying to make sense of this hug. Maybe Roland is just super forgiving! And you can say it’s cause he’s a child but let me tell you, I was so much less willing to forgive really terrible things as a child than I am now.
Omg. They all fell so hard through that portal! Ow!
Emma’s genuinely worried Regina’s gonna put a sleeping curse on her.
Baelfire was trying to destroy magic in New York?
Ron used sellotape to try to fix his wand, so why not?
Omg Davis Bloom, love of my life! Well, it’s Hyde but this guy loves to play literal monsters! Listen, before Once Upon a Time, Smallville was my hardcore special interest show. I rewatched it so many times since I was 9! Anyway, Chloe was my favourite character and I’d always been a Chloe x Clark shipper and then Davis came along and Chlavis became my otp. He loved her so much! He gave her the love and attention she deserved! Yes it was messed up but that’s what 12-year-old me was and is here for! My mum and I were so excited when we found out the actor was gonna be in Ouat! I loved Davis to bits and ngl, was highly attracted to him (as was my mama), so excuse me as I continue to be thirsty over Hyde.
Back to the rewatch!
Hyde strangling people is my jam lol.
Snow, my girl, you really can’t keep a secret. She darn told Hyde about the Dark One’s love being pregnant! Oh well, love her anyway. And also, she was 10.
I’ll never forget, I once cut my eye and it legit looked like one of Hyde’s but scarier. It was so frightening to look at and really uncomfortable, but it healed eventually. Gives me the shivers just thinking about it. But it looks cool and sexy on Hyde xD.
Is that the same book Tilly finds at Henry’s place in 7x14?
Regina: “like with Hook, my first impulse was to rip his throat out.” Jesus Regina! You’re saying that to the woman who just went to the Underworld for Hook and thought she’d lost him forever. He’s someone she loves. That’s intense! As someone who’s been told by a loved one, threateningly, that they are (completely seriously) going to violently kill another loved one, several times, that is so not cool. Luckily no one was killed though, it’s okay.
I recently read a really interesting meta about Regina’s motivation for redemption being intellectual. Like she says here, she doesn’t want to do good. She hates doing good but she knows that villainous acts won’t get her her happy ending and so she reasons that in order for things to go less awful for her, she must to good. She doesn’t do it because of empathy, guilt or regret, she does it because she figures it’s what the heroes are doing and things are going right for them and because if she goes back to her evil ways she knows she’ll lose Henry and her new and only support network. I think the same can be said for Zelena’s motivations to do good. No shade, just an analysis.
Well at least she’s using the word “I” to express that she did those things. But, she seems more concerned about those things hanging over her than for what she did to her victims and how they felt and suffered.  She even seems more upset at the fact that she has lost a love again than the fact that Robin lost his life and his kids have lost their father.
Hmm. Interesting. She seems to suggest here that before she didn’t know the difference between good and evil. You know what, that could be true because she didn’t really get why people called her the ‘Evil Queen’ and then there’s the fact she was raised by Cora and Henry Sr. Cora probably warped her perception of good and evil and her father positively reinforced a lot of the evil Regina did and didn’t explain to her why the things Cora did and the lessons she taught were wrong.
Why are all those stories in the library? That makes no sense.
There’s a problem. If the grail is the origin of all magic and Merlin found it around 1500 years before the present (apparently Merlin was a runaway slave too. Of course he flipping was!), how comes Gothel and Seraphina had magic thousands of years ago? I mean, I suppose they were from another land (that Gothel killed almost all the inhabitants of), so I guess people just don’t know magic didn’t originate from the grail. I mean, since the God’s had magic before the grail, and nymphs possibly have relations to gods, I suppose it makes sense that Gothel had magic but then, what about Seraphina? How does she have magic and how did she live so long? Did Gothel cast a spell on her that made her practically immortal or was she already immortal?
Well, that was easy for Rumple lol.
Transforming looks really painful.
The thing is. They shouldn’t have separated Jekyll from Hyde. I think it would have been cooler if they hadn’t. Sure, they can make Jekyll the true villain but why not have the heroes try to save Jekyll as Hyde thwarts their plans at every turn to the point where they have to agonize over hurting Jekyll to defeat Hyde. The same can be said for Regina. Don’t split them up! Just have Regina transform into the Evil Queen so you can’t tell when she’s Regina and when she’s the EQ working on her evil plan. That would’ve been really fun to watch and to try to figure out which persona she was and when! Also, they should have just made Jekyll transform when emotionally compromised rather than when taking the potion because without an assistant Jekyll could have easily lived without Hyde ever returning.
I hate the look of that wand.
Hydes theme sounds so awesome!
Also, it would have been really cool to explore the Land of Untold Stories. It looks so rad!
How can Hyde summon the portal? Don’t you have to have enough dark magic?! I guess maybe his strength and durability are enhanced by dark magic?
Rumple, I don’t think Belle can here you in that box.
Can I marry Hyde now? I want to marry Hyde.

The Strongest Magic--pt. 3
The Strongest Magic
Pairing: CS (duh!  That’s pretty much all I ever write!)
Setting: Neverland, just after 3x8
Rating: Somewhere between K+ and T
Summary: Pan has stolen Henry’s heart, but all is not yet lost. Emma, the Charmings, Hook, Regina and Rumplestiltskin must defeat Pan within six hours or Henry will die. Pan discovers the heart of the truest believer doesn’t contain the strongest magic of all. For that, he will need Emma’s heart. When Hook realizes what Emma’s planning, he makes a desperate plan to save her life.
Previous sections: (Part 1) (Part 2)
A/N  In honor of the Neverland Renaissance that seems to have swept Tumblr (I approve; I definitely approve!), and in honor the fact that it’s Throwback Thursday I decided to revisit one of my early CS fics.  (In fact, this is my very first fanfiction of any kind, so be gentle, lol.)  It was written during the 2 week break between 3x8 and 3x9, so it’s canon to that point.  This was written long before I joined Tumblr, so I’ve never posted it here, and I figured, with the resurgence of interest in Neverland, why not? Anyway, it’s a multi chapter, but rather than spam your dash with 9 separate posts, I decided to divide it up into 3 sections.  Enjoy!
A/N 2: Okay, so apparently I either never posted part three of this story back when I posted it for Throwback Thursday, or Tumblr ate it.  So, in order to rectify the situation (I kind of left Killian dead at the end of the previous part, and we know that can’t stand!), I decided to post/repost.  Enjoy!

Chapter 7: A Change of Course
Emma sat heavily on her bunk below decks of the Jolly Roger. The ship had taken off ten minutes ago, Neal at the helm. Emma clutched Hook's letter firmly in her hand. She'd already read it three times. How had it come to this? How had Captain Hook come to matter to her in such a profound way that it seemed she was leaving a vital part of herself behind on Neverland. Hook had given his heart for her, but she was the one who felt like she had a giant gaping hole in her chest.
This is what happened when you let yourself care for someone. No use denying it now. She did care about him. He said he wanted her to go home and live a joy-filled life, but how exactly could she do that under the circumstances? She would never be able to explore the…whatever…that was starting to develop between them. She would always wonder what could have been. And she couldn't even pretend she hated him, like she had with Neal. Hook hadn't betrayed her; he'd shown selfless devotion to her.
It hurt to care. Oh, how she longed for an average boring life. She wished she'd never met Hook. No, that wasn't true. Her life was infinitely enriched from having known him, having been loved by him. If only she could just stop feeling. She just wanted to go numb. Too bad Regina was out of sleeping curses, she could use the peace you could find in sleep.
The tears began to flow again. She had cried more during the last few days on this bloody island than she ever had before in her life. She laughed grimly to herself. She'd called it the "bloody island;" she was even starting to think like him!
There was a soft knock on her door.
"Come in," she called listlessly.
"I thought you might like some company," Mary Margaret said as she walked in and sat on the bunk beside Emma.
"Yeah," Emma said, running her hands through her hair and sighing. "Maybe it would be better not to be alone right now."
Mary Margaret put her arm around Emma, and Emma laid her head on her mother's shoulder.
"He loved me," Emma said bleakly.
"Yes," Mary Margaret agreed, laying her cheek against the top of her daughter's head. "Long before…well before what just happened, that was becoming obvious. The question is, what are your feelings for him?"
Emma was quiet for a long time. When she did speak, her voice was so soft Mary Margaret had to strain to hear it. "I…I think I love him too."
"Oh, honey," Mary Margaret said gently, "I'm so sorry. I can't imagine the pain you're feeling right now."
"Yeah," Emma said brusquely. "You know what the hell of it is? After Neal, I swore to myself I'd never love another man, never let another man have enough power over me to make me hurt, yet here I am. I almost wish I could hate Hook. Hate would be easier to deal with."
They were silent for several minutes. Emma appreciated Mary Margaret's silence. She was glad her mother wasn't throwing stereotypical words of comfort at her. Sometimes sorrow is too deep for words.
Mary Margaret chuckled softly to herself.
"I was just thinking about the day we met Hook," Mary Margaret said. "Who would have thought that debonair, ruthless pirate would one day save your life?"
Emma smiled. "He was so full of crap. He had so many one-liners up his sleeve, it was a wonder that black leather jacket fit over his arms!"
"What happened up on that beanstalk?" Mary Margaret asked, rubbing Emma's back. "You seemed different when you got back. You seemed to think even worse of him than when the two of you went up."
"I don't know," Emma said evasively. "I guess I just got scared. We worked so well together up there, and there was already, I don't know, a spark, I guess. I could see already that he would help me in any way I needed, and it scared me. I was scared I might be wrong about him. Then, afterwards, I guess I was kind of ashamed that I'd chained him up there. He had, after all kept his end of the bargain. I'm kind of surprised he even wanted anything to do with me again after that."
There was silence again for several moments, and then Emma spoke up again.
"Mom?" Emma could tell Mary Margaret was pleased to be addressed like that. "Is love really worth it?"
"I wouldn't trade a moment I've had with your father for anything in the world," Mary Margaret said simply. "It wasn't always easy. His step father was against the match; my step mother was against…well, me and anything that might make me happy; the curse made him think he was married to another woman; I was stuck in a different realm when we were sucked into the Enchanted Forest. Through it all, I always had that faith that somehow, your father and I would always find each other."
The anger started then. Anger at her parents for their "happily ever after." Anger at herself for falling in love again. Even anger at Hook.
"He lied to me, Mom!" Emma ground out. She balled her hands into fists. "On the way back from the Swamp of Despair, he lied to me. He promised me he would never leave me. He swore it to me! Now look. He has left me!"
"No, Mom," came a voice from the door. Emma hadn't even heard Henry come in. "He didn't leave you; you left him! You're the one who left him on Neverland."
"Henry," Mary Margaret said gently, "now isn't the time. Your mom's pretty upset."
Henry paid no attention to Mary Margaret, but walked into the room and stopped right before Emma. "He saved my life. I couldn't believe it, but Captain Hook saved my life! We have to save him!"
Emma felt the lump in her throat grow larger. "Henry," she said taking his hands and looking into his face, "there is nothing in this world I would rather do, but I just can't. Pan's won. Hook's body has gone cold already. If it was just me, I would go back and try anyway, but it's not. I can't put you in danger like that."
"Mom, you love him, don't you?"
"Yeah kid, I do." Emma answered simply. One solitary tear trickled down her face. She briskly wiped it away.
"Don't you see?" he asked earnestly "That's it! True love is the strongest power on earth. Love is strength. Believe in your love. You can use love to save Hook!"
Believe in your love; love is strength. Those phrases tugged at Emma. She gasped. Love is strength. She had said those very words to Cora when she performed her first bit of magic. She had pushed Mary Margaret out of the way…out of love…and Cora was not able to take her heart. She thought of the fires she'd finally been able to start in Neverland. She produced the fire when she thought of Henry, when she thought about how much she loved him, how much she wanted to protect him from Pan. What about what happened at Dark Hollow? She'd been able to light the candle only after Hook was taken by the shadow. It was fear for him, love of him that had allowed her to light the flame.
Regina was wrong. The strongest magic wasn't fueled by anger, it was fueled by love! Love was the source of her magic!
"Henry's right," Emma said animatedly. She jumped to her feet. "We've got to go back. We've got to save Hook. It may be crazy, but I've got to try!"
Emma raced toward the helm. Neal stood at the wheel talking and joking with Tinkerbelle.
"Neal, turn around!" Emma shouted. "We've got to go back! Hook needs our help!"
Suddenly everyone began talking at once.
"Emma, what are you talking about?"
"Have you lost your mind, dearie?"
"Not a chance, Miss Swan."
"Emma, we've already talked about this…"
"David, she's right."
Could they all just shut up for a second? They were wasting time!
"GUYS!" she shouted loud enough to drown everyone out. They all fell silent and turned toward her. "We can't just leave him. You know we can't. Look at all he's done for us, all of us throughout this whole Neverland nightmare! He's been our guide. He's saved Henry's life and David's life, and my life. He's rescued Neal. He's been my rock, and…I love him."
Neal's face clouded, and Tinkerbelle discreetly stepped back.
"Emma, what are you saying?" Neal asked in a pained voice.
This was neither the time nor the place for this discussion, but then, she supposed there would never be a good time or a place for it.
"Neal," she said gently, stepping forward to touch his arm. "A part of me will always love you. You never quite forget your first love. But things have changed. I've changed. I'm not the same person I was 11 years ago. Neither are you. Look, I know you had the best of intentions and everything, but what happened back then, you letting August convince you to send me to jail…well, it left a scar. A deep, painful scar, that is only now beginning to heal. Neal, I do forgive you for what happened, but there are some things a person just can't ever forget."
"Emma, please," Neal pleaded, his hand gripping hers. "I know I was wrong. I know I hurt you, but our love can overcome this."
"That's just it, Neal," Emma said sadly. She didn't want to hurt him, but she had to make him understand. "What we had was beautiful, and I'll never regret it because it brought us Henry, but I don't think it was true love."
If possible, Neal looked even more wounded.
"I've seen the love my parents share," she continued. "They'd do anything for each other. I thought I'd never be able to find that kind of love, but I have. It's like…I don't know…it's like there has always been this piece of me that was missing. When Hook gave his life for Henry, for me, well, I knew he was the one that completed me."
Neal dropped his eyes.
"Neal," she said touching his arm again. He looked back up at her, "you deserve to find the woman who completes you like that."
He merely looked at her for several moments and then nodded. His eyes flickered briefly to the side. Toward Tinkerbelle? What exactly happened on that trip to Pixie Hollow?
"This is all very touching, dearie," Rumplestiltskin said striding forward, "but you can't honestly be suggesting we go back and take on Pan for a man who is already dead!"
"That's exactly what I'm saying," Emma said earnestly. "Look, there's never been any love lost between you and Hook. I get that. But what about Pan? Do we just leave him there…all powerful? Do we let him bask in his victory? Give him the power to terrorize other people, other families the way he's terrorized us? We need to defeat him, so that he can never hurt anyone else again."
"Emma," Charming said firmly, taking a step forward, "we just can't do this. It's too late."
"No," Mary Margaret said firmly. Emma shot a grateful look at her mother. "Charming, what is it we always say to each other? I'll find you. I'll always find you. Our love has always been strong enough to overcome any obstacle. It's time we let our daughter go after her true love. She believes her love can save him, and I believe in her."
They looked at each other for several moments. Finally Charming nodded.
Rumplestiltskin growled deep in his throat. "Regina," he said, "talk some sense into them!"
Regina looked at Emma for a moment, an assessing look on her face. Finally she rolled her eyes. "Sorry Gold," she said grimly, "but I've found it to be fruitless to try to change Miss Swan's mind once she's made it up."
"Alright everyone," Neal said, turning back to the wheel. "Prepare for a change of course. Neverland, here we come!"

Chapter 8: The Final Battle
"I'll stay with the boy," Tinkerbelle offered. "I have no desire to confront an angry and immortal Pan."
"Thank you," Emma said gratefully.
"Mom," Henry said earnestly, "I want to come too. I can help."
"No!" said Emma, Regina, Snow, Charming, Neal and Rumplestiltskin.
"Kid," Emma said, crouching down so that she was on eye level with her son, "We need to know you're safe. This is going to be a difficult and dangerous mission, and we'll need to focus all our energy on saving Hook and defeating Pan. We can't worry about you being in danger."
"But I can help!" Henry insisted. "I have the heart of the truest believer. I'm not afraid of Pan."
"Henry," Charming tried, crouching down so that he was next to Emma, "do you remember when your mom and grandma were stuck in the Enchanted Forest and I started teaching you about becoming a knight?"
"Yeah," Henry said uncomfortably, shifting from one foot to the other.
"Remember, what I said about courage?"
"Yeah," Henry said with a sigh, "You said that sometimes courage means not acting when you want to. Sometimes it means staying behind."
"Exactly," Charming said. "This is one of those times. I need you to stay on board the Jolly Roger and protect Tinkerbelle. I need you to guard the pixie dust and make sure the ship is ready to make a quick getaway as soon as we return."
Henry sighed. "Okay. Just be careful, okay?"
Emma hugged Henry once more and looked up at Charming. Thank you, she mouthed. He nodded in acknowledgement.
The rescue party, led by Emma cautiously walked off the gangplank and onto the shores of Neverland. Would Pan know of their return already? Would he set a trap for them? As they carefully walked across the shore, their confidence increased. No one was there to meet them.
"Come on," Emma shouted, breaking into a run, "We've got no time to waste."
They ran at a breakneck pace until they reached the mouth of Skull Rock. Emma rested for a moment in the entrance, leaning against a wall to catch her breath.
"What's the plan, Miss Swan?" Regina asked breathlessly.
"I need to make sure Hook is here," she said, her glance encompassing the whole group. "And…I need a moment with him."
Mary Margaret rubbed Emma's shoulder. "Go on honey. We'll guard the entrance of the cave until you call for us."
Emma walked slowly forward. The cave was well lit, both by the sconce burning on the wall and by the brilliant green pillar of light in the center. She had barely entered the cave before she saw Hook's lifeless body lying awkwardly on the floor. No one had arranged it after he fell; he looked so uncomfortable.
Emma ran to him and collapsed beside his body. She clasped his cold hand with one of hers, and gently brushed his dark hair from his brow with the other. She'd known what he'd done for her and for Henry, but seeing him here brought it home to her all the more vividly. The tears filled her eyes again, but she ruthlessly pushed them away. If she was to defeat Pan, she had to stay clear-headed. She couldn't afford to indulge in emotion.
"Hook…Killian," she whispered caressing his icy cheek, "I will find a way to save you. I love you."
She leaned forward and gently kissed his still lips. A wave of magic, warm and rose-colored erupted from their joined lips, and quickly spread to fill the entire cave. Of course! Emma thought to herself. Why didn't I think of this before? True love's kiss! Could it restore Hook? She watched him intently. Color slowly came back into his face and hands. Emma hastily cupped his face in her hands once again. He was warm!
"Wake up!" she whispered, "Come back to me!" She waited several minutes, caressing his face, his hands, his hair, but he never stirred.
Emma knew a moment of disappointment, but then she gathered her resolve back around her. If true love's kiss could revive him enough to bring warmth back into his body, she knew her love could defeat Pan!
Peter Pan abruptly stopped playing his pipes and raised his hands for quiet. The lost boys immediately stopped their dance.
"What is it?" Felix asked.
Pan clutched at his chest, where Hook's heart had suddenly begun to pound. "They're back, and they've reached the captain."
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Felix asked with a cold smile. "Let's go show them what happens to those who refuse to heed Pan's instructions!"
Emma had gotten to her feet and was striding toward the cave's entrance when she heard her mother's shout.
"We've got company!"
"We've got to guard his body!" Emma shouted back. "Help me."
Snow, Charming, Regina, Neal and Rumplestiltskin poured into the cave. Each took a place, until they had Hook completely surrounded. Emma was in front facing the opening of the cave.
"Take care of the lost boys," she ordered, naturally falling back into the role of leader, "Pan is mine."
No sooner were the words out of her mouth than the lost boys rushed into the cave, their war cries echoing along the stone walls. Emma expected them to attack immediately, but they didn't. They surrounded them, raised their weapons and then waited.
Pan flew in on a jet of yellow-green light. He landed before Emma. The mocking look that she was used to seeing on his face was gone, replaced with a deadly earnestness.
"I thought my instructions to Henry were crystal clear," Pan growled, "You should be halfway back to your beloved Storybrook by now."
Emma shook her head. "That's not how true love works. I won't leave Hook to rot on this island. He's coming back to Storybrook with us…him AND his heart!"
"You're weak!" Pan spat back at her, "You let your heart dictate your actions. You think your love can save him? Well, you're about to find out how worthless your pathetic love is!"
"Well let's get on with it then," Emma ground out.
Pan gave a sign with his hand, and with a cry, the lost boys attacked. Emma drew her sword and advanced on Pan. The cries and shouts of pitched battle were going on all around her. She heard the metallic sound of swords clashing. The whooshing of an arrow leaving it's quiver, the crackling of a fireball, and some sort of crashing sound that must be Rumplestiltskin's magical weapon of choice.
She swung at Pan, but he disappeared and materialized several feet away. How the hell was she supposed to fight an enemy that she couldn't even seem to touch? She advanced and tried again, but her progress was stopped by a lost boy who fell at her feet, an arrow protruding from his shoulder.
"Looking for me?" came a voice from behind her. She whirled and raised her sword in both hands.
She realized her mistake immediately. Pan was there, far too near her. With both arms raised, her chest was exposed, and Pan held a knife high, poised to plunge right into her heart!
"Emma!" she heard her mother scream. It seemed like time moved in slow motion. She saw Pan's arm swing downward, and there was nothing she could do to stop it. She closed her eyes, bracing herself for the blinding, screaming pain.
But it never came. She abruptly opened her eyes and saw a brief look of shock on Pan's face. He struck out again, but the knife stopped two inches from her chest as though it had come in contact with an invisible wall. Pan uttered a cry of rage.
What was going on here? Suddenly, understanding dawned on Emma's face. "You can't touch me!" She said in wonder, her eyes widening. "Hook's heart beats in your chest, and it won't let you harm the woman he loves!"
Charming hurtled through the sea of combatants, clearly coming to her aid.
"Stay back, Dad," Emma yelled. Charming stopped abruptly. The lost boys must have sensed that something momentous was about to happen, because almost as one they dropped their weapons and turned toward Emma and Pan.
Emma sheathed Neal's sword. She knew, she suddenly had absolute confidence that it would be the magic of her love and no other weapon that would defeat Pan. The boy stood still, wearing a look of utter bafflement on his face.
Emma closed her eyes and extended her hands. She thought of Henry back at the ship. She thought of her parents fighting with all their might to help and protect her. She thought of Hook lying still and dead on the floor of the cave. Love welled up from the very depths of her being. She felt its force and power flowing from her heart, through her arms and out her fingertips.
Pan gasped, and Emma opened her eyes. Rose-colored light flowed from her fingers and coiled around Pan like a rope. He struggled, but he was completely immobilized. The love light bound him from the neck down. Only a small space just over his heart remained free of the entanglement.
"Regina, get over here!" Emma ordered. "We need Hook's heart!"
Regina stepped forward and extended her open hand toward Pan's chest, but she couldn't reach inside.
"Emma, honey," Snow White breathed, "It has to be you. The heart belongs to you. You're the one who has to retrieve it."
Shaking slightly, Emma extended her hand. It slipped through Pan's chest as easily as it would slip through warm water. She grasped Hooks warm, beating heart, and gently pulled it out.
"No!" Pan shouted. The column of light faded until it was almost nonexistent.
Emma looked at the heart. It was bright red and strong. Not a smudge marred it. Here was proof, if anyone needed it, that Hook was a hero.
Gently, Emma slid to her knees before Hook. She extended her hand and slipped his heart back into its place in his chest. Emma watched and waited a beat. Two beats. Suddenly his eyes opened.
"Emma," he breathed gently, smiling and reaching up to cup her face.
"Hook!" she yelled, tears streaming down her face. She raised him up and wrapped her arms around him, burying her face in his chest. His heart beat strong and steady against her ear.
"I love you!" she whispered over and over again.
"Look!" Neal called out, gesturing to the center of the cave.
Emma pulled herself back from Hook far enough to see where Neal was pointing. The light in the center of the cave was suddenly extinguished. In its place sat the giant hourglass Emma remembered seeing during her first trip to Skull Rock. The top of the hourglass was more than half empty and the sand rushed out at a breakneck speed.
"No!" Pan shouted.
It took only minutes for the last grain of sand to settle into the bottom of the hourglass. Pan fell to the ground and closed his eyes. A wave of green light settled over his still form, and when it lifted, Peter Pan was gone. In his place lay a middle aged gentleman with longish brown hair and a red coat.
"Papa," Rumplestiltskin breathed in an agonized whisper. Then, he firmly turned his back on the man who had abandoned him for a chance at eternal youth.
Peter Pan was no more.
Half an hour later they were on the docks where the Jolly Roger awaited them. It was over. It was finally over. Peter Pan could never harm anyone again. Hook was surprised at the extreme wave of relief that suffused his entire body. He was only a few minutes from leaving Neverland…for good this time.
They were walking up the gangplank in groups of two. Snow and Charming led the way followed by Regina and Henry. Rumplestiltskin and Neal, talking animatedly, came next, followed by Tinkerbelle and Wendy. Hook, walking near Emma, took a step onto the gangplank, but she stopped him with a hand to his arm.
"Hook," she said looking him straight in the eye, "For the record. You are the most honorable man I know. What you heard in the swamp was dead wrong. You're not a villain or a looser. You're a hero. Thank you. For all you've done for us. Without you, Henry would have died."
Hook dropped his eyes. He had been a "villain" for so long, he hardly knew how to receive praise and thanks anymore. But it gratified him. Particularly from this woman, it gratified him. The "charming rogue" mask he'd worn for so long to hide his true emotions slipped into place.
"Well, love," he said with a grin, "I seem to remember you offered me a display of your gratitude for saving your father's life not too long ago. I wouldn't turn down a repeat performance."
Her grin matched his. "I don't know," she flirted, "I kind of thought saving your life back there at Skull Rock was thanks enough."
"True enough, lass," he returned, "It would appear I'm the one who owes you a debt of gratitude."
Hook brought his good hand to Emma's cheek and moved forward. He waited when he was a hairs-breadth away from her and looked into her eyes. If she pulled back, he would step away. It would nearly kill him, but he would step away. But there was no hesitation in Emma's eyes, only invitation, and a deep abiding love.
Hook closed the distance and settled his lips onto hers. This was a slow kiss, a gentle one. It had none of the urgency and fire of their first kiss, but in some ways it was eminently sweeter. Emma's arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer, and his encircled her waist. The kiss went on and on, but eventually he ended it. He rested his head against hers for a moment, trying to catch his breath.
"That was…" he began, just as he had after their first kiss.
"A three time thing?" she replied, and he could hear the laughter in her voice.
"Not hardly!" he growled, and planted a quick peck on her lips as a punctuation to his sentence.
"Let's go home," Emma said with a radiant smile. It was like the sun breaking out on a cloudy day.
Hook sighed. "I've had no place to call home for as long as I can remember. Are you sure you want me with you when we get back to Storybrooke?"
Her smile turned tender. "Hook, don't you get it? With the strongest magic in all the realms binding us together, how could I want you anywhere else?"
The End!
