My brain is stuck in necromancy but actually imagine baby Izuku deciding to be a witch cause his mama is an angel now and JD (Bibi? Or maybe just JD?) is the Jersey Devil. They'll live forever and Izuku wont.

Unless he sticks his nose in the supernatural.

So Izuku decides to try all sorts of spells hoping to find one that works. And guess what? Nothing does until he stumbles upon necromancy and suddenly the dead are rising.

Izuku is thrilled. Inko is sighing. JD is plotting pranks.

Of course once Izuku knows what style his magic works best with he hones it and can cast other spells.

But a shambling skeleton that Aunti Hikari found who willingly agreed to be a summon is much more fun then normal magic. More so when Izuku is pressed for time and do you know how many dead insects or animals can be in a building? Do you?

A lot.

On the flip side: Healer Izuku. Izuku who saw his mother choke on poisoned wine. Who often spent time with Diego when his mom and JD were running off. Who held his mother in his arms as she struggled to breathe and held JD when they shuddered in pain as the loss of their power struck then.

Healer Izuku who devours medical texts and who learns all he can. Who casts spells to heal bones and carries around all the tools he needs.

(He always had a Quirk is the lie. He just needed to know how to and the components of spells are strange enough it makes sense.)

Healer Izuku Who is ten when a man contacts him, a man promising to help him get into UA if he heals someone. He's made a splash being a healer already. Healers are rare after all and Recovery Girl watches Izuku like a hawk in hopes of a successor.

Healer Izuku who walks into a hospital room for a God made human and heals him. Who leaves with an autograph and a smile.

Izuku who is seen as weak because he's a healer but who shows that it's not all he Can do. Fireballs (cinnamon, spruce and chili pepper crushed together by a pedestal under the new moon) are a fav of his thanks to JD.

Izuku who Saw deaths nd destruction. Who saw his Mother gasping for air and the shaking shoulders of JD. Who went: No and stood up.

That's also very fun to consider.

~~Got bored so compiled this (pretty extensive) list of film references for faunlet style and aesthetics, might be helpful for anyone looking to delve into and develop their style. Don't take this as some kind of gospel, it's just a bunch of movies and shows that I think can be useful reference points. A short manga that was quite popular in Japan by the same author of the currently publishing Jump series The Ichinose Family's Deadly Sins, this title is a good intro into Taizan 5's work. The art is expressive, the page turn is used well, and it takes a look at human psychology through three children with complicated relationships and living situations.

From Yoshida-sensei of Banana Fish fame, this short manga predates her more well-known work and you can see her explore some of the themes and ideas that you'll often see in Yoshida's works. I didn't relate to the characters (Which is actually nice sometimes! Different perspectives are good!) and it's kind of a weird manga, but it got a few laughs out of me and it was cool seeing Yoshida experiment.

I've been eyeing this title for YEARS and almost bought it so many times. Finally read it and idk why it took me so long. A charming, quirky, silly, wholesome story about a yakuza getting singing lessons from a choir kid. There's a sequel that's currently being published, ファミレス行こ/Famiresu Iko/"Let's Go To a Diner," but it seems to have a slow release schedule and hasn't been released in volume form yet. I don't see it available to read digitally either so I guess we'll just wait for a tankobon release.

hhi! what is your fav ship and why?

Hi Hi back! Thanks for asking. And well, I have a few fav ships for various reasons. But I will go over a few of them that I love that are off the top of my head.

First one that I am gaining more traction is Zuko/ Katara. This one ship is one of those I was not looking to fall in love with it, it just found me, picked me up and said "You are coming with us now." Lol. But also giving it thought and seeing it from a personal, literary, meta, and animation analysis, they just click for me and make me happy to think of new ideas for them. I know it is not everyone's cup of tea, but I love this idea of what could be with these two for sure.

Next is Fakir/ Ahiru from Princess Tutu. I adore this enemies to partners to potential friends/ possible lovers. And also I love the story's message about being your true self and finding hope when things seem bleak. I won't go into too much details as I don't want to spoil the story- not only because it is really good, but it is meta has hell and I love the layers that they not only capture, but the rest of the world can empathize with.

InuYasha / Kagome: my original OTP growing up when I watched the show/ AMVs that I found of them on YouTube. I love their growth as characters as well as partners and relying on each other.

Tomoe/ Nanami from Kamisama Kiss. This made me realize I have a type, lol, but I can't help it. I love their growth as well as reliance on each other to help grow and support, and Tomoe finding himself more drawn to Nanami. But the best would be how they find out a huge secret about their relationship and how it actually started and just so freaking precious.

Dan Heng/ Stelle from Honkai Star Rail. This one is more personal but also I can see there being a romance between Stelle and Dan Heng to some degree.

Oh, and one non cartoon ship I guess, lol, would be Ziva/ Tony from original NCIS. Their chemistry, their banter, their story arc, and just support, damn! I did not know much of what happened to them after a few seasons and the actress for Ziva left, but I was routing hard for them.

And one more one more, but Harvey and Sabrina from Sabrina the Teenage Witch 1996 version. Just something about their chemistry and also the cute communication between them, and even Harvey coming to terms with her secret is also so sweet. (spoilier I guess if you have not seen it)

i guess the biggest thing is that i hadn't really been planning to work with faeries to begin with? then it just sort of happened without my meaning to and fast forward to 2023, here i am

the sight runs on one side the family so interactions with the other side and the good neighbors weren't really strange. usual tricks like hiding the remote or calling my name so i'd go ask my mom what she wanted with her swearing she never called me. or even spookier were the times she wasn't in the house at all. then there was a time that both my and my youngest brother were both being tormented by some entities in the house until mom2 handled it when i was in my junior year of high school i think?

then i just forced myself to not notice these things that by the time i started looking into witchcraft and seeing so many branches of it, that it didn't really cross my mind to pursue hedge witchery of faerie witchcraft

back then the idea of potentially getting lost in the astral and never finding my way back seemed scary. and there was a LOT of fear mongering about avoiding the fae entirely that it made me decide not to

but somehow i got pulled into working with spirits anyway, i can't really remember how it happened it just did. from there, so did a desire to astral once i started reading stories of people's adventures about it. then came the research about faeries, more in-depth this time and looking back on some old experiences with new eyes

some were fae, some were definitely ghosts and i went back and even read about how some of my fav entities in folklore were faeries too. so outside of perusing folklore wiki articles and books were looking at the fae witch tags of tumblr and learning about other people's experiences

that pretty much kickstarted my desire to actually want to work with faeries even though i made no move to do anything beyond research. i pretty much wanted to be 100% down on etiquette and faerie species before doing that since i was worried about pissing something off

i've always been interested in fae like selkies, banshee and dullahan but it strangely never crossed my mind in the research phase to pursue working with them. it was just a desire, i think i thought my first experience with fae work would be with brownies since i'd been told as far as introductory interactions with faeries that was something pretty name and recommended by other fae workers. same with flower pixies. and i'd overall been told that working with seelie fae was the better option since unseelie fae could be quite hostile

before that i think i was imagining that my experience with the folk would be more... transactional? i'd leave offerings, they'd help with spells here and there and occasionally i'd see some signs of fae activity in my home. something along those lines since it sounded similar to what everyone else was going through, then again it could be that that was all of their practice they were sharing

i wasn't expecting the intimate relationship i'd have with the folk i became so close to either. everyone's relationship with the faeries they know are different, special and unique to them. the deeper you go into it, the more that's true. i've also found when it comes to such intimate fae work where you're actually learning and conversing with these folk that you slowly become aware of what is and isn't okay to share even without them saying anything

so i can understand now why certain things about faeries you might find online sound so similar when looking at fae work experiences. you can't always share the more intimate details about your practice

i guess i also thought that my work with fae would be more general to my neighborhood? i've interacted with local fae like the hair toucher, even met one of her friend's a small pixie that was from the lake court. but honestly the large bulk of my interactions with fae come down to selkies, banshee and dullahan

my first experience with faeries wasn't anything concerning house fae or floral fae though, it was selkies. i won't go into all the details about how i met the pod i worked with but because of the unique way we became acquainted, we're more akin to a familial bond than anything else. like i said previously, selkies are pretty family-oriented, once you're in you're in

there's nothing transactional about that sort of relationship. i was always fascinated with selkies, like i said, so when the realization crossed that i could interact with them if i wanted to try i was still pretty much at a stump. gotta say so that rather than going out to find selkies, selkies found me- by accident. but a happy accident

and while i can't really go into the specifics of it, the relationship i have with death fae is quite unique. i've never been scared of banshee or dullahan. but like with selkies i wasn't really sure how to interact with them or show i was interested in working with them besides a one off conversation i had with a banshee back in 2018 thanks to a spirit friend of mine introducing us

it wasn't until i connected with the morrigan, my goddess, that i started seeing an increase of death fae in my life, acting as a sort of gateway into learning more about them and getting to interact with them. learning more about death magic and seeing the cycle of life and death through their eyes

Weekly Blog August 30, 2023

Let me say upfront that my personal world is quite small, but that doesn't stop random lightning strikes of 'Oh shit' hitting my household. Yikes. I think things have calmed down once again so I can get back to escapism. LOL

I have been writing and updating. The Azkaban Letters Chapter 12 was posted yesterday. I update every Tuesday. The response has been 'meh' kudos wise, but I have some lovely lovely commenters, which inspires me to push ahead. For anyone who's posted a chapter fic, you know what it means to have a few folks comment on each chapter.

What I've been reading:

I've been reading a lot! Mostly very long fics, but then I hit upon a fest I hadn't heard of before that just ended. @ladiesofhpfest! 16 weeks of themed fics! The theme range goes from Vilenous Vixens to Hedwig's Circle of Divas. Most of the fics are less than 5K. Here's the link to the Master List by Weeks/Themes. The final two weeks have to be added to the list. I know one of them is Week 15: Girly Girls.

I have two three recs from this fest, mind you, I've just started reading the stories.

The first is Sparkling Cyanide (1.4K) by @saintsenara.

Summary: Tom Riddle had nothing to do with the death of Hepzibah Smith. Hokey had just had enough of being a slave.

I have no idea how the author fits so much into 1.4k words. But we learn who Hokey is and how she and those who came before her were mistreated by Hepzibah Smith. That wizards and witches have no idea and don't care to know the rich history of house-elves. And they are oh so clever! Cheer Hokey on as she works around the law that house-elves cannot use their magic to hurt their masters.

The second is Look Like the Innocent Flowers (4.8K) by @midnightstargazer.

Summary: Daphne is silly and superficial, the sort who obsesses over makeup and fashion and knows all the latest gossip. Astoria is fragile and soft-spoken, a delicate flower of a girl. When the Carrows take over Hogwarts, the two sisters appear to be unaffected, indifferent to changes that have little impact on pure-blood Slytherins like themselves. But as the Sorting Hat said, "those cunning folk use any means to achieve their ends" - including allowing themselves to be grossly underestimated.

This is a great canon missing moments fic for 7th year. Daphne is very much a Slytherin (as is Astoria). She's made a decision to protect her sister and those that the dark side wants to hurt. We're treated to the beginnings of Astoria/Draco, the subtle communication between Slytherin women, including Narcissa, and how such a beautiful witch can use her wiles and magical powers to help bring down the Dark Lord that most of her house admires.

Oh, and this author also wrote Lily's Cat (sniffle) for the fest. Really sweet.

One more rec, and it's Drarry, and it's a Series, and it's long. I'm guessing that many of you have read the Blood Magic (340K) series by Houseofhebrideanblacks(AO3) and Thestralsofspinnersend(AO3). The series is made up of 3 distinct fics in feel though definitely intertwined. The first fic, A Half-Life, A Cursed-Life (49K) is very tough to read. It takes place quite a few years after the war, and Auror Harry is so so broken. At the very end, though, there is a spark of hope as Healer Draco takes action.

The second fic, The Forest (88K), is my fav. Definitely the balm to ease the pain of the first one. And the third, Misunderstood Creatures (198K) is amazing in love, action, and lore. Truly a great Drarry series that should be on every Drarry fan's list to read.

One note of interest is that the Authors wrote for their character, and it's seamless.

I only started the show because I saw a Jackie x Shauna tik tok, and since I've been in love with Sophie Nélisse since The Book Thief and TikTok tricked me into believe she was gonna kiss girls in this, I fell into this fandom and GOOD LORD the angst of shaunaxjackie is unmatched.

I love Jackie, she's literally the only sane of them and she's such a closed lesbian dork that how could I not love her? Her bestie was literally fucking her boyfriend behind her back, and she couldn't find something mean to say to her? Please, she's too precious and deserved so much better. She was my fav for season one <3

And for Shauna, I do despise her actions? Yes, but have you seen her big doe eyes? sad brown eyes girls can do no wrong, the problem is everyone else.

LOTTIE IS MY WIFE EVERYONE BACK THE FUCK AWAY FROM HER-

I mean, we have a slightly insane baby witch that will turn into a crazy milf witch cult leader in the future... It's not that hard to guess who I'm most in love with.

In general, I like the teens girls better because the wild storyline is far more interesting for me. The exception is Tai, her character is literally the best and just got better, I go feral everytime milf!taissa is on the screen.

I haven't finished season 2 yet so I don't have much of an opinion of characters that didn't receive a decent amount of screen time as Van or Mari, buut I'm must say I can't like Misty like everybody else's'cause it's her fucking fault all that happened. AND I CAN'T STAND TRAVIS ANNOYING JERK, NAT IS SO QUEER CODED WHY THE F* ARE THEY ARE A COUPLE???

Don't really like Laura Lee 'cause I have way too much trauma with catholic people. And the men in this show? All annoying. I couldn't fuck stand the artist one Shauna started having a affair it, where that came from anyway, that woman clearly never got over her dead bestie.

Anyway, I can't wait to reach the part where Nat marries Lottie, and all the girl marry one another.

Also, should I write a yellow jackets insp fic? I feel like Wanda and Lottie are super alike.

Recommend favourite books? Oh man, this is a broad question lol.

Favs from most current reads? I finished Song of Achilles last week, and now I'm almost done with Circe, both by Madeline Miller and both very good (I can put Heroes, Mythos and Troy by Stephen Fry on top of that as an additional thematic recommendation, enjoyed these a ton). I'm also in a process of rereading Discworld novels after like two decades, currently going through the Witches books, so I can recommend those a well.

From all time favourites? One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a book i read sixteen times so i guess I can recommend this one, lol. Flights by Olga Tokarczuk is fantastic if you haven't read this one yet. Dictionary of the Khazars by Milorad Pavić is also one of my favourite books and one I come back to often (especially that its lexicon like form allows to just hop in for an entry or two). Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov is another one I'd recommend, lots of good stuff there and there's a devil too. And to close the list: Our Ancestors trilogy by Italo Calvino ( would recommend basically every book by him tbh, one of my most fav authors in general) which consist of The Cloven Viscount, The Baron in the Trees, and The Nonexistent Knight.

I am mostly reading non-fiction books tho, but that becomes an even broader questions since the ones I liked most thematically spread from Ancient Persian Empire, through the history of surgery and medicine, to more recent nuclear disasters, so imma stop here lol.

Btw I wanted to ask you what you thought of the show as a whole. I love the aesthetics but overall I thought it was very underwhelming plot and characterwise. The first season was fine I guess ( the friendship Catherine had with her maids was definitely the saving grace of the season) but the second season was just painful to watch, I hate what they did to Catherine. She was so ambitious and politically minded in the first season and I love that she wasn’t head over heels for Henry, and was using him for her ambitions, and in the second season she seems completely devastated and beyond heartbroken about his betrayal to an extend that borders on pathetic.

Ask con: Rosa was my favorite character she was such a cutie

Rosa, Lina, and Margaret Tudor were my fav girlies.

It was extremely underwhelming and honestly just weird at parts. I was even more put off after seeing comments made by the creators themselves.

“Anne was very little in court. She was one of the ladies-in-waiting, and she was simply another pretty girl that could catch his eye. We didn't want to give her any more credence than that”

“Frost and Graham are exceedingly protective of their Spanish princess. "From a personal point of view, we've lived with Catherine so long I don't want that witch coming in," quips Graham. "I don't want her anywhere near my Catherine."

And I’m not disputing that women in power, especially during that time were probably ruthless or mean or whatever word people want to use. But there is something so annoying to me as a reader/watcher when people conflate ambition or knowing your worth with being a bitch. It is possible to be both or one or the other. But they are not the same. I think the creators did that a lot with Catherine. Now I’m not gonna pretend I’m some history buff, but I’m sure like most historical shows, they took liberties. Just not ones that helped. If this show was supposed to be a love letter to Catherine, they failed imo. I can handle unlikeable characters or figures. But going out of your way to make them bad then expecting us to root for them is crazy to me as a writer (lower case w lol)

Also idk if this is an unpopular opinion but I was not a fan of Charlotte hope’s acting choices

In short, the show is the definition of ~beautiful gowns~

Personality: Im very curious and kind, i’m kind of shy at first when meeting someone new but when I get to know the person more and feel comfortable I can become very fun and energetic! A lot of times I can be very hard on myself and give up easily, but when reminded of my strengths (especially by someone I deeply care for) my confidence and motivation sky rockets sometimes lmao. Some fun facts: Im always cold (hence why I dress cozy all the time) when im holding something while trying to sleep (like a pillow) i’ll doze off instantly! Hobbies include!: Studying tarot! (I give fortune readings to family members and to myself) Videogames, teaching myself how to knit, taking care of my cat Ivy, and also studying plants to one day have a nice garden 🪴 I also love listening to music, I actually like all kinds of music and I like to spread out and listen to different things, however Phonk, Pop and Rock are my top 3 favs. When im just chilling and vibing in my room i’ll put on Lo-fi or calming/serene meditation music.

The way I present myself is relatively simple, I love long and baggy clothes, hoodies, sweaters, turtle necks, just a LOT of comfy and cozy vibes. I dont like wearing short skirts but I LOVE wearing long dresses to just flow around in. However one day I’d really really like to wear a fancy sparkly suit 🥹 As for color schemes, def on the darker tone! But every now and then i’ll rock something bright!

What i’d what in the relationship is mainly just someone being there and present for me, its not about being alone but just more of just KNOWING someone is there for me physically or not. Kind gestures that are even super small to most will literally make me melt. I also LOVE being able to take care of my partner, making them dinner/coffee/tea, you name it. If they got hurt? Im patching them up, nightmare? Im comforting them the moment they wake up. Getting them water, a coat, you name it. I also love giving gifts that I made, i’d also spoil them rotten with store bought gifts but they can expect a LOT of handmade crafts and DIYs LOL

what are your top 3 movies of all time?

This question is way too hard! How can I pick just three??? And I always blank 😭😭😭 I really love Howl’s Moving Castle like the visuals are so pretty like the flowers in the field and Howl’s bedroom and some of them are quite scary and stick with you like the witch of the waste I think? And those crow bird soldier creatures. I also love how subtly they show Sophie looking younger despite her curse at times when she is happy or excited or feeling youthful and it reflects on her physically! I also love the animation of the breakfast hehe oh and I love calcifer! And I had a crush on Howl when I was young but who didn’t??? I love most of the Ghibli films but if I had to pick just one it would be this one!

And I think another favourite movie of mine is Shrek 2 and this is unironically! I just think it’s such a flawless perfect movie and a rare instance where the sequel is miles better than the already good first movie! The climax scene alone of Shrek and friends invading the castle with fairy godmother singing holding out for a hero and Mungo getting attacked by hot milk (RIP) and it’s literally perfect honestly whoever thought up that scene deserves all the awards! But apart from that, it’s just super slick and funny with the parodies like the show “cops” being “knights” and all that! And the emotional scenes are so good too!! Literally the perfect animated movie!

And I guess if I had to pick a real life movie it would be the shawshank redemption! I just love feel good movies like that where the protagonist actually gets such a satisfying ending and the corrupt warden etc all get fucked. Like usually I’m so iffy about movies and when it’s random middle aged men in the movie I really do not find it appealing but I gave this movie a chance with my dad and bro and I loved it soooo much! Literally it’s so good! One of the best movies ever made!

The ones I listed above aren’t my top three they’re just some of my fav ones that I thought of first. Other movies I LOVE are: 3 idiots (this one is just soooo good!), django unchained, rang de basanti (any desi people who haven’t seen this movie yet really should), white chicks (idgaf this movie is iconic I can’t tell you how many times we rewatched this as kids), mean girls (self explanatory), princess diaries 1, spirited away, AND SO MANY MORE BUT I CANNOT REMEMBER!!!!
